At 46 years old, this criminal defense attorney navigates the legal system of Cardinal Hill, where he has sought solace ever since one fateful night that forced him to leave his city of Chicago behind.
Born in Havana, Cuba -- his early days saw too much turmoil. At the age of five, his family was forced to seek refuge from the conflicts of their native country. Business in Chicago was booming so this is where they settled. This journey -- the journey to Chicago meant they had to briefly say goodbye to their loved ones. Especially Julian. Two weeks before they migrated Sergio, Julian's older brother had become incarcerated as a result of a political demonstration gone awry. He was forced to stay in Cuba until his sentence was completed. This had such a lasting and powerful impact on his childhood that feelings of pain and misfortune remained with him and continue to do so far beyond his tender years.
Julian's parents, Rosa and Markos De Los Santos -- were a dedicated nurse and a powerful patent attorney. These hard workers instilled in him the values of perseverance and responsibilities. He excelled in academia and was driven to pursue law just like his father. But he didn't want to work tirelessly for companies or The Man, so he decided early in his academic career that he wanted to specialize in criminal law. He hoped to make a difference in the lives of those who, like his brother, found themselves ensnared in the gaping maw of the justice system.
Despite being quite successful, the echoes of his life in Chicago haunt his daily life. When he was just 31, nearly ten years into his practice, a tragic misstep would leave him reeling for decades. He made the difficult decision to relocate to Cardinal Hill. Julian hoped to escape the memories that haunted him and start fresh. The ghosts of his pasts are really never far behind and they influence his work as a criminal defense attorney -- shaping his understanding of true justice and redemption.
In the idyllic town of Cardinal Hill, Julian is known not only for his excellent legal expertise but also his compassionate approach with every client. He never shames, he only seeks to provide the solace to Cardinal Hill that it has given him. He fights passionately and tirelessly for the underrepresented. Driven by a deep-rooted belief in second chances - for others and for himself.
Julian De Los Santos continues to wade the challenges of his profession while he grapples with his family legacy, his identity and his own conscience. He stands at the crossroads of his present and his past, seeking to meet the man he was and the man he continually strives to be.
Headcannons
In Cardinal Hill, Julian becomes unlikely friends with an older library employee who was once a lawyer herself. Sharing her experience with Julian, who at some point started hating the law and called it lifeless. The old library provides another place of worship for him.
Julian struggles in his romantic life. He often pushes people away because he believes that anyone who gets too close will either suffer because of him or they will eventually leave. He's usually drawn to people who have their own past troubles and forms bonds over shared experiences.
When the pressure becomes too much or the guilt is too loud sometimes Julian will wander the streets of Cardinal Hill at night to clear his head.
Julian is Catholic and often struggles with his faith since the incident and he attends Mass regularly because of this. He struggles with feelings of unworthiness and he often confesses to a sympathetic priest.
Despite the slight turmoil it causes, Julian kept all of his late father's law books. He often revisits them and the footnotes in the margins to remind him of the man he wants to be.
Julian still writes letters to his older brother in hopes that one day he'll be able to read them -- wherever he is.
He carries around a rosary in his pocket as a comfort whenever he feels overwhelmed. He finds solace in counting the beads, allowing it to ground him in moments of guilt or anxious thoughts. It's a small act that helps him seek clarity.
One of his clients in Chicago taught him what Zine's are and he was inspired to make one and to his surprise it went really well. To this day he still makes them when he has free time -- divulging his thoughts on the law, redemption and morality. His Zine's resonate well with most people and it gives him a great sense of community.
He is the youngest of his brothers and sometimes that makes him feel inadequate or like the runt of the boys.
However, he is the only witch out of the brothers and that fills him with a sense of pride. His mother is a witch too and taught him everything he knows, which he happily passes down to his two younger sisters who he loves more than anything.
To find comfort and connection to his Cuban roots he takes a few cooking class and gets really into it, actually! He often cooks traditional meals and invites neighbors over for dinner parties.

SHORT BIO
tw for cheating, alluding to age difference relationships
Carmen was born and raised in her native México, surrounded by her extended family. Life was rough growing up, as her father was away from home on a fishing boat for months at a time, whilst her mother worked for various tourism groups. But with all bad comes good, as she had no shortage of various aunts and uncles (with only some being of blood relation) to look to. It takes a village to raise a child, and nowhere seemed more true than her little village.
Her life changed drastically when her father died in a boating accident days before her 19th birthday. Their little family managed to limp along thanks to the help of family and friends, but their generosity would only extend so far. With what little money they had running out, Carmen's mother made the decision to leave their beloved México behind, hoping for a better life in America.
The family moved to Aurora Bay, where her mother worked as a maid for one of the families in Aurora Bay Drive. When Carmen turned 21, she was introduced to Christian McDowell. Though she spoke little English, and he spoke virtually no Spanish, the pair managed to hit it off. By the age of 23, Carmen and Christian had married, and she'd moved into his home in Fisher's Cove. The couple eventually had two children, and it seemed that life couldn't be any better.
The cracks in their happy home started forming the first time Carmen realized her husband had wandering eyes. With the rise in messaging sites, she found more than a few suspect chats bookmarked in the web browser. It felt as if Christian had wanted his wife to find them, was looking for a reason to leave. But, she elected to stay silent, to pretend it didn't happen. She justified it to herself, it was for the good of her children.
A mistake, in hindsight. Followed by more mistakes, when the messages turned to meet ups, turned to affairs. The older she got, the older their children got, the younger her husband's mistresses seemingly became. She looked for distractions, for hobbies and interests, turned a blind eye. She opened Tejas Cantina in 2014, named after her father. It became a success after a year of struggle, and at the age of 44, Carmen filed for divorce.
It was a shock to many, but it had also been a long time coming for her. The divorce process was long and messy, but when it was finalized, she moved all of her things to a quaint little home in Seabrook Quarter. She even went as far as legally changing her name back to her maiden name, and has stayed fiercely single since. She refuses to become caught up with another American man.
CONNECTIONS
POTENTIAL
Neighbors from Seabrook/Former neighbors from Fisher's Cove

CURRENT
✿ Living Migraine The One that Got Away: Did Axel and Carmen ever date? No. Will they ever date? Also no. Will they play-flirt with each other if Carmen isn't smacking his head for the dumb shit that comes out his mouth? Most definitely. | @axel-mathis ✿ Angry Chihuahua Son: You know that "GET YO FUCKING DOG, BITCH/it don't bite" vine? Yeah, that's Carmen about Aiden. Yes, he's a troublemaker, but you don't have all the facts, which are that he's a good kid and a damn good cook. | @aiden-stevens ✿ Needs Therapy Niece: Carmen had visited her half-brother as often as she could just to see his kids. She hasn't seen Valeria in years, so hopefully they can actually have the relationship that dipshit sperm donor denied them. | @thevaleriaxortiz ✿ Five Finger Nephew: The last time Carmen saw Asher, he was but a wee bab. Probably gonna teach that boy proper Spanish. No nephew of hers is gonna be denied half of his heritage. | @heyits-asher ✿ Beloved Daughter: 1/3 of Carmen's whole world, the other two being her youngest and sweet Clara. Extremely proud of all that Izzy has done and always on call to babysit if needed. | @izzyxalamilla

Los pioneros en esta duela, de parte de la Autónoma de Ciudad Juárez, fueron Juan Pablo Martínez Pérez (#1) con 22 puntos; Gustavo Nares Nava (#21) con 17 puntos;

She simply looked towards the other and smirked. Her aunts always said that an Acosta woman’s smile was powerful more than any hex or jinx. “If I was spying on you, I think I’d be smart enough not to reveal myself so easily,” she stopped in her tracks and looked ahead of them, “Look at that couple over there.”
Valeria looked to a couple—no older than them—sitting on a bench. They sat a distance away, and both awkwardly shifting their gaze to their date and away. Suddenly, a ‘breeze’ had whisked past—seemingly out of no where—causing flowers from a nearby bush to float their way into the boy’s lap. He plucked the flower from his lap and offered it over to her. Valeria then looked towards the bush near them, picking a barely blooming bud and tucking it behind James’ ear. The flower now fully sprouted. “Still think I’m spying on you?”
“I’ll come with you,” pipped up James, “what sort of person would I be if I let you go by yourself after our acciedent.” The young wizard shuffled one hand into his pockets as he walked alongside her, James automatically took charge of the bike guiding it with his other free hand. “Soooo . . what do you need from the market?” He made small talk to fill the silence, James knew of the other but never intracted only politely through passing, as his mother was a squib and father a muggle, James was surrounded by non-magical folk in the neigbourhood.

BASICS:
skeleton: Coral character name: Emilia Mirabel Acosta age & birthdate: 30 & June 26th 1991 gender & pronouns: cis woman / she/her birthplace: Cardenas, Cuba length of time in port vale: 2.5 years occupation: tattoo artist apprentice fc: Ana De Armas
BIOGRAPHY:
Born in Cardenas, Cuba, Emilia didn’t live there for very long before she and her family moved.
She grew up very artistic, always doodling away, sometimes even spending more time drawing than studying.
Her parents were never a fan of how much time and focus she put into her art and did their best to stifle their daughters creativity in favour of education.
Emilia always found a way to continue practicing every so often but was stuck following her parents orders.
When the time came to decide on post secondary schooling, Emilia knew what she wanted but knew her parents weren’t going to pay for art school so the decision fell into their hands as they picked something more science based since those were where her best marks lay.
She was only away at college for a couple of semesters before she could no longer handle the workload. She stopped showing up to classes and spent a lot of her time getting back into art instead, as well as making some money to support herself.
Once she felt secure enough, she called her parents and told them that she was dropping out, that she was going to pursue a life in art whether they liked it or not. It definitely didn’t go well, but she felt better knowing she could live her life her own way.
Emilia travelled to a few different places in the hopes of her art getting noticed, getting some kind of job and proving her parents wrong but it never worked out that way. Each town or city she stuck around for less and less time until she was about ready to give up.
When she came across Port Vale it wasn’t much of a coincidence. During college she had some classes with Stephanie Anand who always talked about Port Vale and how amazing it was so it was Emilia’s last ditch effort before returning to her parents feeling defeated.
PORT VALE:
She tried selling her art on the streets for a little while before Isidore Delgado showed up and offered her a job, impressed with her work.
She had been staying at The Mermaid Inn, only expecting to hang around for a couple months before going back to her parents so she barely realized that she had been staying there for nearly a year until it was brought up and Stephanie asked her to come live with her instead.
Emilia has been in town for two and a half years, happily working under Isidore and living with Stephanie for the past year and a half.
Along with working at the tattoo parlor she also enjoys taking on freelance photography jobs and can easily be spotted walking around with her camera almost everywhere.
HEADCANONS:
Emilia is a Cancer.
She is bisexual.
While travelling after dropping out of college Emilia got into photography.
She has two older sisters, Catalina and Valeria who used to try and reach out to her when she first cut ties with her family but now no longer attempt to keep in contact with her.
She doesn’t like to talk much about her family and her past now that she’s here. She doesn’t consider her time under her parents authority as something fun to reminisce about.
Her parents dictated a lot of things in her life, like the friends she made or the people she dated.
When Emilia went to college she dated a girl who was also a model for some of her art.
She has a tattoo like this that she designed on her upper right arm.
Emilia believes in aliens but thinks the idea of mermaids being real is farfetched.
