There's a party where you MotoGP/2/3, WSBK/WSSP/300, F1/2/3, FE drivers/riders or whatever are invited, but there's a catch. They need to be dressed up as something that starts as their first letter of their name/surname or popular nickname. It can be in any language you know. It can be as general as Celestino going in blue jeans and a blue sweater with his face painted in blue with black dots, as he is going as 'cielo' sky in Italian. It can also be specific as Celestino as Captain America.
So who is going to the party, and what are they wearing?
oooh an interesting question I love this very much, ty!
first of all iāve been dying to talk about this for a hot minute so Joan Mir is there in a hot catsuit because āmirriā in finnish means a cat. and heād look very good in that iād reckon.
now with one repsol honda rider we canāt miss his teammate, Marc, who obviously went for the costume route with āPedro Marquezā aka spiderman, a very fitting costume
the ācoupleās costumeā goes for Fabio and Tom. they teamed up to for āTom of Finlandā look with Tom dressing up in period clothing as āTomā Touko Laaksonen, the famous finnish artist, and Fabio in a hypermasculine leather getup reminiscent of Tomās drawings straight from finland. itās all very gay.
Lewis Hamilton is once again the most stylish person at the party, dressed up in his namesake Louis Vuittonās clothing. Iād imagine itās a loose look with interesting patterns and a pair of sunnies to go with it.
Valentino Rossi took the costume party also literally, as he is naturally going for a doctor costume. i wanna say they are doing a coupleās costume with Francesca, going as derek and meredith from greyās anatomy (maybe the doctorās jacket is named āmcdreamyā)
his prodigee, Celestino Vietti is also there in a more of an interprative look, as āviettiā means drive or libido in finnish, and he decided to dress like the god of love and seduction, Eros, with baby wings and a halo added.
Francesco āPeccoā Bagnaia and Marco Bezzecchi went for a couples costume as well, going for a version of the classic finnish song āPƤivƤnsƤde ja MenninkƤinenā (Sunray and Hobgoblin). Pecco is wearing all fluffy yellow and light fabrics as the ray of sunshine, and Marco contrasts him with a darker, earthier look as the goblin.
Luca Marini matched his eyes with his outfit full of wavy blues like the sea, mare. he wore a simple coloured jeans and jacket - look that had all kinds of blues painted on.
at first glance, it looks like Charles Leclerc has just worn his ferrari suit to the party. upon closer inspection, it comes apparent that the number is 95 and those are not shell logos but rust-eze, and he has actually dressed up as Lightning McQueen.
Alex Albon loves to dye his hair so naturally he went as the redhead Archie Andrews, in a comic book style with the letterman jacket with R and all.
Lando Norris is clearly dressed like Lando Calrissian.
Max Verstappen went for a roman emperor look like Magnus Maximus, toga and all.
and who can forget Oscar Piastri, who went for a full-body golden look as an oscar statue. all the paint took weeks to come off.
Jonathan Rea shows up to the party dressed in discount tags because āreaā in swedish means for sale. he keeps flirting with his wife, saying heās going cheap today.
Jack Doohan took the safe route and borrowed an old race suit from his dad, because hey, thereās a famous racer named Mick Doohan out there right?
whereas the other famous mick, Mick Schumacher, took his surname literally and dressed as an old-timey cobbler or a āshoe makerā.
iād imagine thereās a funny moment when Casey Stoner shows up very stoned to the party.
#here were a few i could think of off the top of my head#surely not everyone but a few#a lot of them are far fetched but i had fun#ask tag#eve.txt

Child of divorce rosquez AU
My baby, my baby
Chapter 2: The fallout
Marc knew he should be grateful for the life he lived.
He had everything and more he could have ever dreamed about.
He was a big name in the sport he loved after only 2 season. He had won 2 titles in those years, making him a 4x wdc before he turned 22.
He earned a lot of money while living his dream. He made his hobby to his job and it worked out perfectly. Better than anything they could have expected.
He had healed from an almost career ending accident and had started to win everything. He learned how to handle crashs and he was pretty good in dealing with the injuries resulting.
He had a brother who he loved dearly. They were basically glued together. He was his best friend and always had his back. They had the same profession and could spent lots of time together.
And he had a wonderful little son who would turn 2 in January.
David was everything to him. He had never expected to became a father as early as he did but he would trade it for nothing in the whole world.
He loved David like it was breathing and now he could have never imagined not having him in his life.
He knew he should be grateful for a life like that. Most people weren't as lucky as he was. For most people, their dream didn't work out. Many in his profession even suffered a terrible fate. Most people weren't as lucky to have a support system like he did when it comes to an unexpected pregnancy.
And he was grateful. He would never not be grateful
But as he looked in the news, he couldn't help but curse the world for putting him through something like that. Actually he wouldn't care if it was just about him. He'd be able to handle that.
But dragging David through it?
He swallowed, cursing silently as he read how his toddler got weaponized.
'The cuckoo child of motogp - whose the real father of Marquez's bastard?'
He wanted to take the paper, roll it up and beat the crap out of who ever had the idea, who wrote it and who deemed as as appropriate enough to be published.
It was bullshit. The world knew who David father was, even if they refuse to acknowledge it. He - They had always been honest about David's father.
Fuck.
Vale had been the one to step up about it. He hadn't want to hide Marc or their relationship and his fatherhood of David. So he publicly picking David up from the Honda garage and carrying him to yamaha.
The baby had been crawled on his chest, Vale still on his race suit, as he talked with his mechanic. The hugh 46 over his head seemed to fit perfectly with the red MM93 top David had been wearing. A gift from Santi.
As expected, the whole media went crazy. They asked them about the reason behind that.
Vale had just laughed and said "Allora, I gotta take care of my lovely son, no? Can't let Marc do all the work. He did all the hardest work already. I mean - If it takes two to have fun, it takes at least two to care of our little bambino"
And the papers went wild. As expected. Valentino Rossi, having a son - the news spread like wildfire through all of Italy.
They repeated it the next day. Vale had grinned widely as Marc handed their baby over, knowing that many journalists had only waited for this.
They had managed to arrange the schedules that while Vale went over some data, Marc had a little free time to look after David. And as soon as his occupation started, Vale was free and took their son.
It didn't always work but luckyly Julia was happily to look after his grandson in the meantime. Or Alex and Luca stole him away. For some uncle time, as they called it.
Vale and Marc had early on decided not to investigate what their brothers put their baby through after catching Alex trying to teach David to say "batman" instead of papa as his first word.
They just trusted the newly founded uncles in crime union - to which the academy boys counted as well - not to do something extremely stupid.
"Your fault if you let a bunch of teenage uncles babysit cause you don't know how to pull out" Luca had said as Vale asked him why his son was currently wearing a green baby wig, sunglasses and a glittery jacket.
He had turned to Franco, knowing that this was an argument he couldn't win against. He hope his oldest boy would at least have some sense as he gave him a strong 'care to explain?' look. But he just shrugged and answered "What? It's fun. And David loves it! Look at him"
As on cue, David started giggling and reach for his papa. "He's a baby. He loves everything." Vale replied as he took his son back in his arms. "OH come on Vale" Marc had said. "It's cute. And our baby looks really cool like that"
That had always been their system. And it worked. They were a happily little family, living in Spain or Italy, attending races all over the world.
Then things went south and now he had to see articles like that.
It wasn't just the fact that he was publicly accused of infidelity he didn't commit or trying to baby trap Valentino, it was the way it was phrased. It was phrased to be against his son. Not just him but a literal baby.
And that made him angry. He could handle backlash. There has always been some idiots, searching for gossip, starting all kinds of rumors about Vale and his relationship.
But this was new.
Because now, Rossi's comments indicated that even he wasn't sure about the fatherhood.
"Who knows... if he is capable of screwing me over like that, he probably already did in other ways"
Sepang.
He still got shivers when he remembered hearing that in the press conference the first time. Back then he had been foolish enough to believe it was a joke. A hard comment like they often do after a race like this.
He had laughed along, ignoring the sting in his stomach.
It had started with that accusation and it spiraled into an avalanche against him. One quote followed the next one. One worst than the one before and at the end, Rossi had managed to paint a devastating picture.
David - their son, being a lie. The boy they worried about together, who they cared for, who they loved before he was even born, was supposed to be a manipulation technique?
He accused Marc of sleeping around, trying to pass a strangers child off as his.
He wanted to scream and cry. So he went to Vale's motorhome that night. He couldn't control his emotion so he yelled and sobbed and begged him to think straight.
It had been Vale who welcomed David in tbe world, who sat next to Marc's bed, holding his hand waiting for him to wake up after the birth.
It had been Vale who had spent hours thinking about designs and decorating the nurseries at the ranch and at their place in Spain. He had even asked his academy kids for help.
He had asked everyone he knew and loved how to be a good parent.
He had loved David the second he knew he existed. He had been so incredible happy about the pregnancy despite the circumstances. He loved David always and forever.
He had hold him in his arms every day and every night. He had sang him a lullaby. He had told him stories and showed him pictures of their families. He had told him everything about everyone.
He had shown David how loved he was the second he was born.
He had supervised his boys as they stood around the cradle, the first time they were in Italy again. They were all standing there cooing over their newest addition.
Marc's heart had melted as Vale put his arms around his boys, heads still lowered over David. "Remember, moments like this are the reason, we take calculated risks not blind ones. Cause no amount of point is worth this. Understood?"
But apparently that was a lie.
Because now he had stood there, his eyes cold, his face drawn a fascade that could only be described as disgust and hate.
The love they had shared was gone. Yes they had relationship problems in the last weeks. But not like that. Every couple had its ups and downs. That was normal. But this...
Marc huffed. He stared at Vale.
"You can't be serious. David - David IS YOUR SON! YOU KNOW THAT!" "I only know what you told me and you are a liar. You have proven that many times. Why should he be a difference!"
He spoke coldly about him. His voice filled with hate as he spoke about their son. "Keep David out of this! He has done nothing but breath and love you unconditionally since the moment he was born" "I don't care. You're a fucking liar. This is not worth it!"
Their child wasn't worth it? Worth what? Trying? Finding a way to make up? Discussing things? Clearing doubts and misunderstandings up so they can be happy together?
"Valentino, he is your God damn son! Are you really that blind? There is a HUGH difference if I lie to the media about an injury or which tyres I'm using and the paternity of our child!"
Rossi just huffed and rolled his eyes dramatically. It felt like he was making fun of Marc. He didn't take Marc serious. Neither this issue. And that hurt even more.
"You are a liar and you use me for your own advantage. You don't care about me. So why should you even want a kid with me in the first place?" "Because I love you, you stupid idiot! I love you like crazy! I always have"
He loved him for longer they actually knew each other and his love for him had just grown since the.
"You are a liar" the Italian insisted. "I am not a liar! I love you! You mean everything to me. What do you think why I'm here trying to figure this out? I love you. I will always love you and I'm trying to figure this out with you. I mean-"
He was getting desperate. He didn't know what to say anymore. "I - I will always love you and you will always have a place in my heart and my home and my family. And that boy - the boy we are raising together - is your child. He is your own flesh and blood! You know that!"
But no amount of yelling and begging could change anything. And Marc tried. He tried harder than he was racing. He was ready to let all of hids dignity go.
He tried until it was too late. It had been too late the whole time but he now had to admit it.
"So that's it...? You lied to your own academy kids?" he had asked still holding anger. His voice hoarse and his eyes red. He had no strength left. "Points are worth more than your own family. A championship means more than your own baby. After everything-"
Vale looked at him with cold eyes. He meant what he would say. "No. But that fucking bastard isn't my baby"
There it was.
'Bastard.'
'That fucking bastard.'
About David. About their child. He had insulted their baby and with that, he had hurt Marc enough to finally walk away.
Insulting David made a switch flip in his head. It told him it wasn't worth it. He wanted to fight and he had sworn he would but there was nothing left fighting for.
David was no longer their baby. He was only Marc's baby.
So he stopped begging. No more yelling, no more tears and devestation about a man that didn't gave a fuck about them.
David deserved loved. He deserved to be loved unconditional and he had people that were willing to give him that love without having to beg.
Marc would not force someone who clearly didn't want to have anything to with him to stay in his life. He wouldn't do that to his kid.
He had always promised himself to never settled for someone that he had to beg to stay. Especially not if he had to dealt with the anxiety of being left on a daily basis.
And David didn't deserve that too.
So he left. He didn't persue legal action against Vale even if he had considered it. But he wouldn't ask for anything. He wouldn't give him more things to put against him. And he didn't need his help either. He could prove that they were fine without him. And he would.
That weekend marked tbe first of many after which they didn't joked on the drive to the airport or sat cuddled up in the back of a taxi that drove them to the hotel. They didn't shared a flight home and didn't talked about their child.
They didn't bickered about when to unpack their stuff. Marc didn't roll his eyes sarcastically cause Vale had once again forgot that after locking the car he had to unlock the door with the same bunch of keys.
He had always immediately let them slide inside his pockets and then had to fish them out.
Instead he got out the car, took his stuff and followed his brother and father inside the house without a word. He hadn't really spoken since the confrontation with Vale.
He just entered the house, hugged his mother a little bit longer than usual. It worried her but she knew what was going on. He whispered a tired "I love you" to his family as he headed to his child's room.
He went quickly, but instead of happiness and excitement, his steps now showed sadness and hurt.
It was late so David was already in bed. Marc didn't want to wake him. He didn't want him to see that only of his parents had come home to him.
He wanted that David got one last night of peaceful sleep in the knowledge that both his parents who loved him dearly would be there when he woke up. Marc feared the moment this would crash.
So he just sat down next to David, his hand reaching for his face that was plastered against the mattress. There was some spit drooling around his mouth and his thick dark curls were covering his forehead.
Softly Marc put his hand on his cheeks. He felt the warm of the skin. He felt his happiness. He felt his love.
It felt domestic and normal. It put everything to a stop. The spins of thoughts stopped and there was only David and this moment left.
He took a deep breath and just looked at his son, the baby light - a smiling turtle - was making sure the child wouldn't get scared.
Marc looked at it. Luca had found it in a store and thought it was on brand for them.
Marc would replace it soon, claiming it broke when in reality he just stored it far away, hidden in a box no one ever looked in.
He shook his head and just lifted his baby out the little bed. Without a second thought he sat down in one of the comfy chairs and leaned back, David still sleeping peacefully. He was now resting on his chest.
"I will never leave you" he whispered in his sons hair. Je kept sleeping. "I will love you for the rest of my life and even in death I will always love you. You're my son."
He kissed his head and breathed in. He smelled the soap and shampoo his mother had used when he bathed David.
"You are mine forever and nothing will ever stop that. I love you so much, baby. I will never leave you. I promise. You will never be alone. I will always be with you."
He closed his eyes and locked everything out of his head. Only David mattered. Only his son was important.
But his own words didn't hold any meaning. Not even to himself. Because that's what Valentino Rossi, the man who had walked out on both of them, who had left both - Marc and their beloved baby - had said as well.

Street Dance of China S4 Ep 3
(Iām having problems with Tumblr not saving my posts...)
- Oh no people are going to start getting eliminated! :o Well, Iām still really glad that we had two whole episodes of people just dancing and having fun and getting the opportunity to showcase who they are and how they dance.
- This question just occurred to me, but where do people look when they watch dance performances? As I watched the Go Go Brothers, I was thinking to myself, āWhere do I look? If I look at one of them, I might miss what the other Brother is doing!ā Just my musings lol.
- I am super shallow but people tripping makes me laugh, so yes, Nelson accidentally tripping did make me chuckle. (+ Rochkaās reaction)
- Yibo and Yixing discussing the SDOC theme song. It made me laugh because the lyrics are kind of hype but Yibo and Yixing arenāt exactly the most facially expressive people lol.
- After every performance Henryād be like āletās collaborate!!!!!!ā Han Geng finally stepped in being like aight Henry you gotta take it easy on the recruitment because weāve literally only seen three performances. Iām still not really sure of the format of the show from now on, so Iām not sure if they form new teams afterwards.
- Yixing was so guilty about not giving Bouboo a vote.
- Rochkaās shock @ Boubou not getting four votes.
- Heās ashamed.
- I think if a dancer gets less than 4 votes, then other dancers are allowed to challenge them for a spot to advance, but whoever loses is eliminated out of the tournament, so you have to be super confident to challenge. And if a dancer only gets 1 or 2 votes, they are eliminated.
- Yibo asked Rochka why he wouldnāt challenge Bouboo and Rochka said heād never go against his teacher/big brother v.v They exchanged hearts but then Rochka pretended to throw the heart away and crush it lol.
- While I was expecting a bit more from Bouboo, I donāt think his challenger JC Jun was better than him. JC Jun was kind of wobbly, and I think his dance didnāt match the music as well as Boubooās did.
- Yixing had his head down when he voted for Ibuki too, so I think he just gets nervous about voting.
- Henry wanted to say that Ibuki was like lightning but he said the word for a flashing light/disco light and Han Geng wanted to give him shit for it.
- Yixing said that he thought ACās waacking almost felt like krump.Yixing said that if he was to collaborate with AC, AC should do the arm swing, and Yixing would do the waacking lol. I am all for seeing Yixing doing more dance styles! Not gonna lie, I think heād look cute doing waacking.
- Ye Yinās performance was really nice! The music was unique and the way he danced, with the tap dance and folk-like elements really suited it.
- Rochka said he wants to know Ye Yin more and said they also have the same smile.
- Xiao Jie said heād never battle Ye Yin but he got peer pressured by the captains into freestyling to Ye Yinās self-produced song lol.
- To show face, you know? The entire time he was like ābut this doesnāt count, okay?!!!!ā since he wasnāt actually challenging Ye Yin, and it was just for funsies.
- The judges were a bit troubled by Xiaomingās performance because at the end, he was supposed to fall but his fall wasnāt coordinated with the sound effect in the music. Xiaoming was like yeah, itās pretty difficult but Iām hoping that my challenger wouldnāt be able to get it too and Yixing was laughing his goose laugh. But Xiaoming was eliminated with zero votes in the end.
- Kelo and Uwa had a horror mental hospital-themed dance which was interesting. Kelo said it was based on a nightmare he had as a child.
- Yang Kai wasnāt impressed though. He said heād performed something similar with Liangliang before. He felt that Kelo and Uwa were performing but not really dancing. I can see where heās coming from. Kelo and Uwa got three votes.
- Xiaohai ended up challenging them. He used the wheelchair too but like...somehow his expression just makes us unable to not laugh.
- I think he did really well considering heād only heard the music once. And he returned to the wheelchair at the end of the performance lmfao
- Apparently when Xiaohai was looking up at the beginning, he was asking Li Yulong (who I assume is the person in charge of the music) for music cues but Li Yulong just laughed at him lol.
- Yibo basically said that Kelo and Uwaās performance felt a bit abrupt in the story telling side, and that there werenāt really highs and lows to their performance.
- Rochka was talking crap about Bouboo behind his back and Yibo tattled which resulted in Rochka getting whacked in the face.
- Zyko taught Yibo and Rochka how to do his fancy leg moves.
- Yixing talking krump with Auju. Auju was like youāre really good for someone whoās only been learning for a year, but then Yixing was like, I practise 6 hours a day and Auju was like ?!?!
- Zyko + Henry (with Henryās infamous āgetting down while playing violinā move)
- PoppināC introduced himself, saying he was from Italy and Switzerland, and Yibo and Yixing were thinking of all the things from Italy they knew. Yibo was like ā...Valentino Rossi...ā and Yixing was like ā....pizza.....ā These two spacey twinks istg.
- Anyway, PoppināCās performance was nice. Not only were his moves clean and impressive, but he also expressed the lyrics through his dance.
- Rochka fanboying over PoppināCās dance :P At one point, the lyrics were about hearts, and PoppināC did some moves where he made a heart and Rochka here is saying how cute it was.
- PoppināC said he missed his daughter and everybodyās like ?? a baby??? :3 :3 :3
- Also, I saw Uwa in the audience, so I think that the eliminated contestants get to continue watching.
- PoppināC said that before, he was more fierce, but now that he has a daughter, heās a little smoother and sweeter :3 Also he was describing that the singerās voice in the song made his skin feel like chicken and everybody was like ??? Luckily Yixing saved the day lol. In Chinese, goose bumps are called āchicken pimplesā or something like that.
- Bozi was next. In his introduction, Bozi said he was from Guangzhou, and maybe thatās why it sounded like so many people in the audience were pronouncing ę³¢å in Cantonese.
- Eleven said something very interesting about B-boys. He said that in their profession of dance, they donāt fear b-boys who can do tricks, but they fear b-boys who can listen to music. I think itās a reference to the fact that b-boys are often doing their own thing and disregard the music, which makes sense. Sometimes b-boys are closer to gymnasts because they are so focused on the spins and other really athletic moves they do. But because their moves are so difficult, they sometimes donāt move to the music which is supposed to be the point of dancing.
- Bozi passed with 4 votes. And he did a bit of krump at the beginning, which Yixing admitted he fell for haha. Bozi said that Eleven helped him choreograph that part, so itās Eleven who knows Yixing well >3
- The director asked Bozi who he thought his biggest b-boy rival on the show was. Of course, we all thought he was going to say Lil Kev, but he ended up saying Xiaoji and Xiaoji was like ?? me?? Boziās reasoning was that heās more troubled by dancers with a different style from him because he doesnāt know how to beat them. From the small clips they showed, I think Xiaoji has a more animated style, whereas Bozi is more serious and reserved.
- Acky-san cheering on MT Pop lol. (āEmbarrassing dad at baseball gameā mode activate)
- MT Pop has really impressed me in the competition so far though. The way he moves is so cool and creative. I think he purposely goes for a kind of...monster vibe? Like he often has this creepy smile on his face lol. Heās not only dancing, but heās using popping techniques to change how he moves entirely, including simple things like walking or how he turns his head. I think MT Pop is my favourite contestant.
- He said the monster from Panās Labrynth inspired this dance. So I guess I was kind of right that he does draw inspiration from monsters and other creatures.
- Low key mad at Han Geng for not giving MT Pop his vote lol. Geng-ge said he wanted to give someone a chance to challenge. Of all people, why MT Pop?? I donāt want him to goooo.
- Henry wanted to try doing the voiceover for the challenger and Han Geng indulged his overdramatic ass.
- Baby Dolphin challenged. He had some cool moves at the beginning, but I think he fell apart a bit towards the end, based on the judgesā reactions (as we didnāt see the full performance). Plus, I think MT Popās approach to dancing is just too unique and interesting to eliminate at this point.
- Kabamba had an interesting performance that had African and Latin influences, with big and energetic movements. Tianci challenged but he went with a general hip hop approach which did not suit the music at all. (I looked up Kabamba. Her name is Latrice Kabamba, but she also goes by ęēåØ on her social media, which is why sheās sometimes called Nana on the show).
- Acky-san was repeating everything that people were saying around him. Stuff like jiayou!! and other words of encouragement. Dianmen who was sitting next to him was just lolāing.
- Ma Xiaolong was performing to a song called ę£ and this word usually refers to any kind of board game. Ma Xiaolongās first moves looked like he was putting pieces on a board and you just know that kind of stuff draws Yixingās attention right away.
- I think Kenkenās style of dance is the kind of dance that the general public would really enjoy. Whereas some kinds of dance donāt really appeal to people who arenāt into dance, I think Kenkenās kind of dance will attract both the dance-conscious people as well as those who arenāt. I definitely got that vibe from him in the dance that he choreographed, and also his individual performance.
- Not even gonna question this. Perfection. Rochka catboy here we go.
- Okay, I agree with Colinās performance not making the cut. Based on his introduction, he was supposed to be a popping expert, but his dance didnāt showcase that. His dance was more of a contemporary dance piece, but while weāve had performances similar to that, his choreography didnāt stand out in comparison. After his performance he had a bit of a cry. Yixing mentioned that it was hard to judge because of the emotional aspect. But admittedly, this emotional stuff is usually the reason why I donāt like competition shows. It was revealed that Colin had lost his grandfather. Now, Iām going to sound cold, but I donāt like it when sob stories are brought in, because it makes us feel bad when we donāt like a piece of art that comes from very pure intentions. Yixingās reasoning for not giving a vote was that he felt that the emotions overshadowed the dance, which is a problem because this is a show about dance. Han Gengās reasoning was that he felt that the skill level could have been better. Yibo was quite moved by the performance, and I think thatās why he gave his vote to Colin.
- We got a preview for this weekās hotpot show.
- Yixing and his emotional support giant cup
- Lots of laughing (including Yixing laughing) which is good for the soul

Motegi starts the final MotoGP stopwatch
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
The Twin Ring Motegi has seen many a battle fought, won and lost on its asphalt. Coming as it does at a pivotal part of the season, the Japanese GP may not have always seen the throne taken ā but it has always been a protagonist in the title fight. Last season was Marc Marquezā (Repsol Honda Team) coup de grace, and this year the rider from Cervera again arrives ahead. But with such unpredictability throughout so much of the season, does the number 93ās 16-point advantage leave the field in check?
The defending Champion will be hoping so. But Japanese soil had never ā until last season ā given the now five-time World Champion a victory in the premier class. In Moto2ā¢ yes, and in the 125 World Championship, but Marquez has never had the air of invincibility at the venue he can count on at some other circuits in the premier class. That said, his stunning victory last season ā and winning the title there ā could see that change, as well as some scintillating pace at another venue characterised by hard braking and acceleration: Austria.
The man on the other side of that duel in Austria was Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team); the man who heads the chase behind Marquez in the standings ā and the man on the machine that, on paper, is very well suited to the Twin Ring Motegi. The hard braking and acceleration should play into the hands of the Borgo Panigale Factory ā and the Japanese GP will be crucial in terms of cutting that gap back down before the maths really begins to kick in and the races remaining tick towards zero. Dovizioso also has two podiums at the track ā one in 2010 and one last season ā to raise his spirits even further on the way to Japan.
Behind the two out front in the points, however, there may lurk two dark horses: their teammates. Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) is the most successful rider at Motegi with five wins ā 1 x 125, 1 x 250 and three in MotoGPā¢, and Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) equals that premier class win count. Pedrosa is also at a disadvantage from having missed some events through injury, and his stats could have been boosted even further. With incredible podium form this season and a shot at the title remaining, the āBaby Samuraiā will be pushing hard to give it everything.
Then Lorenzo. At Aragon, the āSpartanā was both back on the podium for the second time in red and led the most amount of laps on a Ducati thus far ā this time well over half the race. Lorenzoās three wins at Motegi have all been in MotoGPā¢, and he was optimistic about adding his first top step for Ducati when asked about it at Aragon. Could the time be now? And could that timing be worse for those who need that 25-point haul for their title aspirationsā¦
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Mathematically, there remain five contenders. Marquez and Dovizioso at the top, Pedrosa in fourth and then the two Movistar Yamahas: Maverick ViƱales and Valentino Rossi.
That was the order in which they crossed the line at Aragon, only half a second apart despite Rossi riding just 24 days after breaking his leg. ViƱales had expected to challenge for the win, Rossi hadnāt dared to expect anything given the injury. The Italian is now fifth in the standings and two points behind Pedrosa, making it still possible, but it remains to be seen how Motegi ā and three back-to-back races ā will treat the āDoctorā. That said, his confidence will be high following Aragon, when he stunned the field ā and his teammate.
ViƱales is the man who arrives in Japan with time running out to make up the gap. Itās a longer shot for Pedrosa and Rossi and therefore in many ways they have less to lose, whereas ViƱales remains in the difficult zone between risking everything for the chance at victory, and avoiding making a costly error. Last year at Motegi he was on the podium, and heāll need to repeat that or go a couple better and take the top step. Anything can still happen, and everything is unpredictable as ever ā but should the coming races play out as writ, ViƱales is the man who needs to strike. Every move matters, and ViƱalesā position could prove either the perfect amount of pressure or an end-of-season Zugzwang.
Last year Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing Team Gresini) crossed the line behind ViƱales, and last time out this year ā now on an Aprilia ā the Spaniard took his equal best result of the season. Heāll want to back that up and make an assault on the Independent Teams classification which is currently led by Johann Zarco (Monster Yamaha Tech 3). Zarco will be tough to be as ever, however, as well as teammate Jonas Folger, who is looking for a reset in the flyaways to end the season on a high after a difficult stint of late. Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) and Danilo Petrucci (Octo Pramac Racing) are also big players in the Independent Teams ā and there will be one missing, as Jack Miller (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) is forced to miss the race due to injury.
The Australianās absence is set to boost the home ranks though, as the team have called in former 250 World Champion Hiroshi Aoyama ā the Japanese rider who took the most recent home podium at the venue, back in the intermediate class in 2009. Heāll join Yamalube Yamaha Factory Racing rider Katsuyuki Nakasuga to fly the flag, as Nakasuga wildcards following his win in the 2017 Suzuka 8H alongside WorldSBK duo Michael van der Mark and Alex Lowes.
Suzuki are another manufacturer racing on home turf at Motegi, and Andrea Iannone had positive things to say after a more solid performance for the Suzuki Ecstar squad at Aragon. Both he and teammate Alex Rins will have a lot of home support for the Hamamatsu factory behind them, and will be pushing for more progress. Progress is also the name of the game for Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, who once again got straight through to Q2 and took a top ten in the race ā with wildcard Mika Kallio and Pol Espargaro respectively. Motegi is more of a leap into the unknown, but the positive trend and impressive first season for the Austrian factory just keeps rolling.
Four rounds remain, which make it 100 points. But now, as the season finale approaches and 75 of those points are played in the next three rounds back-to-back, itās no longer a simple game of maths or watching ahead and playing the long game: every move matters, beginning from Friday at 9:55 (GMT + 9) for MotoGPā¢ FP1 and with lights out for the race at 14:00 on Sunday.
MotoGP World Championship Classification 1 ā Marc MĆ”rquez (SPA ā Honda) 224 points 2 ā Andrea Dovizioso (ITA ā Ducati) 208 points 3 ā Maverick ViƱales (SPA ā Yamaha) 196 points 4 ā Dani Pedrosa (SPA ā Honda) 170 points 5 ā Valentino Rossi (ITA ā Yamaha) 168 points

Sachsenring: the MotoGP show will go on
The 3.7km, largely left-hander Sachsenring has fast become a signature venue for reigning Champion Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team), with the Spaniard having taken an impressive run of seven victories in a row at the track, from 125cc to MotoGPā¢. Is the lucky number seven? Marquez will be hoping not; looking to make it eight.
Anti-clockwise and with ten left-handers to only three right, the venue is unique on the calendar. This year it has also been resurfaced, with the grid therefore given more time to get to grips with the track. Due to limited availability of the circuit, it wasnāt possible to test beforehand ā meaning an extra 10 minutes have been added on to FP1 and FP2. Both sessions will start five minutes earlier and end five minutes later, with the lower classes unaffected by the timetable change. In case of rain on Friday, a new schedule will be issued for Saturday ā but FP1 and FP2 will remain extended in any eventuality.
Back on track, Marquezā teammate Dani Pedrosa could be a key challenger despite a difficult Dutch GP. The āBaby Samuraiā has four wins at the track in the premier class ā and two more from his title winning seasons in the 250 World Championship. Traditionally a track that suits the Honda, that could also bring into play last yearās podium finisher Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda), who was also a key challenger for the podium at Assen this season.
The winner at Assen is a man with a track record, too. Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) has three wins at the Sachsenring in the premier class and will be rolling into Saxony on a high ā with weather a threat, too, it could all play the perfect hand for the āDoctorā once again.
As well as a Rossi win and an incredible show at the āCathedralā last time out, there were other headlines made ā chiefly in the Championship standings. The man now ahead for the first time in his career is Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team), after a solid fifth place finish avoiding risks and taking a big reward. Maverick ViƱales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) was the crasher who caused the shuffle by failing to score ā so now both have an interesting question: push for the reward, take the risk? Or play the long gameā¦
Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) will want to bounce back, Danilo Petrucci (Octo Pramac Racing) wants to stay on a roll and Johann Zarco (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) will be pushing to get back at the front. Andrea Iannone (Team Suzuki Ecstar) is another to consider, looking for another solid points finish. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing have their eye on the prize of points, too, after Pol Espargaro took their best finish last time out in P11. Three āBullsā will be charging in Germany, with test rider Mika Kallio joining Espargaro and Bradley Smith for the Austrian factory as a wildcard.
The rider with the weight of the home hopes on his shoulders is Jonas Folger (Monster Yamaha Tech 3). After blistering pace in Barcelona and having proven the only rider to score points in every race so far until a more difficult Dutch GP DNF, Folger has good form this year ā and will be even more motivated to bounce back. The German MotoGPā¢ rookie is a podium finisher at the track in Moto2ā¢, and has some serious prowess in the rain ā always a positive as the weather can threaten in Saxony.
The final frontier ahead of the summer break is thirty laps of a track that lies in a region of real racing history. The finale to the first half of the season will certainly be a showstopper and with the Championship so close at the top, it could take a lead role in the story of 2017.
Itās back to regular programming for the German GP on race day, with the race set for 14:00 (GMT +2) on Sunday.
MotoGP World Championship Classification 1 ā Andrea Dovizioso (ITA ā Ducati) 115 points 2 ā Maverick ViƱales (SPA ā Yamaha) 111 points 3 ā Valentino Rossi (ITA ā Yamaha) 108 points 4 ā Marc MĆ”rquez (SPA ā Honda) 104 points 5 ā Dani Pedrosa (SPA ā Honda) 87 points

Floodlights, Camera, Action: MotoGP Fires up for 2017
2016 was a history maker of nine different winners, Independent Team glory and another incredible Championship win for Repsol Honda Teamās Marc Marquez ā despite what had seemed like an incredible hurdle to climb as preseason came to a close. But 2017 is the deepest grid ever, with ten World Champions sharing 29 titles between them ā some gearing up to add to their legends, some wanting to start writing them ā and an unbelievable total of 197 premier class victories shared by the class of 2017.
Last year was then, and this is now.
Preseason has given us some incredible indications of the season we have to look forward to. Stealing the headlines has been Movistar Yamaha MotoGP newcomer Maverick ViƱales ā who topped every test ā as teammate Valentino Rossi seemed to struggle more to unlock the potential of the package, with a deficit to his teammate on the timesheets. Jorge Lorenzo (Ducati Team) has made huge leaps forward in red, āaero-fairingsā have come calling as wings get banned, and there has been a rider shuffle across half the grid.
Rewind a year and Repsol Honda Team were facing down what looked like would be a tough season. This year, both reigning Champion Marc Marquez and teammate Dani Pedrosa have been much happier in preseason, despite some crashes for the rider from Cervera. Marquezā record at Losail is good ā two podiums and a win from four races in the premier class ā but the Spaniard says the track is not suited to the Honda, and wrapped up the test in Qatar wanting to fight for the podium under the floodlights.
Teammate Pedrosa has had a tougher time at Losail, but the āBaby Samuraiā shone during testing throughout winter. With ViƱales out front in every test, only one other rider has been in the top five overall at Sepang, Phillip Island and Losail ā Pedrosa. After a tough start to 2016 followed by that stunning win in Misano, progress for the Spaniard is still very much an upward curve.
An upward curve is something mirrored by old nemesis Jorge Lorenzo. Teammate Andrea Dovizioso has concentrated on development and testing parts for the new campaign ā with positive results ā whilst Lorenzo has simply focused on adaptation. That has paid off, with the āSpartanā moving up from well outside the top ten to complete the top four overall at the close of action in the #QatarTest. āDesmoDoviā has a good podium record at Losail and the Desmosedici goes well at the venue ā but Lorenzo is the king of the desert.
Six victories for the āSpartanā ā half of which have been in the premier class ā make for good reading ahead of the season opener. Add Ducatiās recent record of podium success at the track and Lorenzo seems to have the chance to break a record in Qatar: only former teammate Valentino Rossi has ever won back-to-back premier class races with different manufacturers. Losail, for Lorenzo, may not just prove the start of a new era ā it could be much more.
Rossiās last win at Losail was in 2015 in a stunning season opener. After a difficult preseason, the āDoctorā will be hoping for the hand to fall as it did on Day 2 of the Qatar Test, which saw the Italian shoot up the timesheets as track conditions were favourable. The timesheets aside, the rider from Tavullia is also a Sunday specialist ā and always has been. Points are awarded on race day, and the veteran of the field knows that fact well.
ViƱales is at the other end of the spectrum of experience. But with two seasons in the premier class under his belt and a full house of being the fastest man in testing, the young gun seems one to beat. On potential alone, the trophy has a name penciled on it. But whilst his pace on paper is ominous, it can be a different game as a title contender ā one the 2016 Silverstone winner has not yet played.
Some of the others making a switch for 2017 are former Losail podium finisher Andrea Iannone and rookie Alex Rins at Team Suzuki Ecstar, Aleix Espargaro and rookie Sam Lowes at Aprilia Racing Team Gresini , and reigning Moto2ā¢ Champion Johann Zarco and Jonas Folger at Monster Yamaha Tech 3 as the Independent Team take on two newcomers to the premier class.
Red Bull KTM Factory Racing are also ready to race, after a long period of testing and a huge amount of data gathered in preseason. The Austrian factory now look down the barrel of their first outing with Pol Espargaro and Bradley Smith as they line up full time ā also becoming the only manufacturer to have a presence on each grid ā MotoGPā¢, Moto2ā¢ and Moto3ā¢.
Itās been a long winter, but 2017 really does start now. The lights go out in Qatar at 21:00 local time (GMT +3) on Sunday 26th March ā when the flag drops, and the talking stops.
The great contenders: Moto2ā¢ fire up for 2017
Moto2ā¢ is another strong field once again in 2017, with a huge amount of competition ready to hit the gas in Qatar. Last yearās title contenders like Tom LĆ¼thi (CarXpert Interwetten) and Franco Morbidelli (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS) will be looking to get off to a flier first time out, as well as the guys who are looking to join that fight: Takaaki Nakagami (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia), Lorenzo Baldassarri (Forward Team) and 2014 Moto3ā¢ World Champion Alex Marquez (Estrella Galicia 0,0 Marc VDS). 25 points per race starts at Losail, regardless of the pressure that amps up throughout the season.
Thereās a host of rookies for this year, too. Reigning Moto3ā¢ World Champion Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Ajo) will be hoping to hit the ground running as he comes back from a broken arm to move into the intermediate class, alongside old lightweight class rivals Jorge Navarro (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2), Fabio Quartararo (Pons HP 40) and Francesco Bagnaia (Sky Racing Team VR46). Then thereās Khairul Idham Pawi (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia), Andrea Locatelli (Italtrans Racing Team)ā¦even more.
Bagnaia is joined by Stefano Manzi at the new Sky Racing Team VR46 intermediate class outfit as they debut in Moto2ā¢, with another debutant ready to share pitlane with the Italians: KTM. The new chassis for Red Bull KTM Ajo sees the Austrian manufacturer now have a presence in each class ā and Miguel Oliveira has been impressive in testing, with the bike seeming a real contender. With more Suter presence with Kiefer Racing and Dynavolt Intact GP, too, the competition is sure to be tight.
The battle to replace the king of recent seasons begins ā the crown now up for grabs as reigning Champion Johann Zarco vacates his throne.
Moto3ā¢ gear up to storm the desert
With Brad Binder gone to Moto2ā¢, there will be a new Champion in the lightweight class in 2017 ā and the impressive rookies of 2016 are sure to be some of the first to get in gear when the lights go out in Qatar. Rookie of the Year Joan Mir (Leopard Racing) and podium finishers Nicolo Bulega (Sky Racing Team VR46), Bo Bendsneyder (Red Bull KTM Ajo), and Aron Canet (Estrella Galicia 0,0) are now sophomores spoiling for a fight ā as well as Fabio Di Giannantonio (Del Conca Gresini Moto3), as the Italian comes back from a collarbone break in preseason.
What of the more experienced? Jorge Martin (Del Conca Gresini Moto3), John McPhee (British Talent Team), Gabriel Rodrigo and Juanfran Guevara (RBA Racing Team) could all be big forces to be reckoned with ā alongside three of the biggest names expected to challenge for the title this season:
Niccolo Antonelli is a race winner with proven speed, now joining Championship veterans Red Bull KTM Ajo to replace Brad Binder. A tall order, and one shared by the man stepping into the EG0,0 seat vacated by Jorge Navarro ā āBestiaā Enea Bastianini. Bastianini was a big contender in 2016, with Antonelli a little further back in the fight ā but the clock is now reset.
Reset is the goal for the returning Romano Fenati, as he makes a comeback back to the grid with Marinelli Rivacold Snipers. Fenati, who has been a threat at the front since his debut in Moto3ā¢, will surely have the pace ā with the goal now to add the consistency and string together a real challenge for the crown.
