Preliminary Gayeties: Preparatory Materials for Interested Parties

Greetings, all! As you may be aware, @barricadescon​ (x) is happening this weekend. Myself (x), @shitpostingfromthebarricade​ (x), and @grantairelibere (x) will be hosting one of the social night panels, and we are BEYOND excited! Below, I’ve got a bit more information for you:

As you may know, Preliminary Gayeties is one of the chapters of the Brick, in which Grantaire, Joly, and Bossuet get a bit trashed while they wait for Lamarque’s funeral to reach the riot stage. The three of us have a fairly longstanding personal tradition of reading this chapter aloud and playing a drinking game whenever we’re together, and it is to this custom that we would like to invite all of you. Now, in order to fully participate, you may need some supplies! All versions of these supplies are equally valid, and certainly it can be played with simple water and any snackie of your choice. However, we find it is MOST amusing when you have a specific bev or snack to stand in for each one specified. To that end, we provide a guide below so that as many people as possible may be prepared to participate fully in our game!

CW: scars/injuries, medical diapers, refusal of regression.

(-LITERALLY he's just the embodiment of the "tall little, short cg" dynamic)

-very small guy, around the headspace age of 1-5.

-has got a 'record' of refusing his headspace for three months. (He likes to brag about it to his CG, despite it not being a good thing.)

-due to his injuries that were obtained during his vigilante period in Snezhnaya, he has to be medically padded. (The first time he was told that, he refused to wear them for a week straight.)

-didn't realise he was regressing until Jean told him that he probably was, and he did some research and decided to try it "just once". (He regresses at least ONCE a week.)

-has one stuffie and it's his childhood stuffed valcon, Vannessa. It's not like he wants more stuffies, she is enough for him!

-main CG is Adelinde (head maid at the winery) as well as people like Kaeya and Jean!

-Jean was the one who introduced him to regression as mentioned earlier, but Kaeya found a crying Diluc while walking home, and he admitted (in babbles, mind you) about his regression, and how wrong it felt.

-kaeya had to tell him otherwise. (We love a supportive brother.)

guys i got my daith pierced back in April of '23 and i was finally able to get the original ring changed to this crescent moon shape hoop.

my friend, who is not familiar with Star Trek outside of seeing Into Darkness with me when we were teenagers, saw it and said, "It's giving... I'm gonna say this wrong, valcon??"

And I was like, "OMG VULCAN!?" 🖖🏻

And she was like, "Yes it's giving Vulcan vibes."

This is one of the best days of my life. Not only am I in love with the piercing (that I low-key hated until i changed the earring) but it came with one of the best compliments I have ever received

featuring the fabulous @thepiecesofcait and @thecandlesticksfromlesmis wherein we discuss our processes for characterizing the Amis in our respective mediums (writing, art, and film), and

with @eldritchw1tch and @grantairelibere , a social event where we read Preliminary Gayeties, eat, and drink along with the characters.

Even if these events don't speak to you, I strongly recommend checking out the con's events page to see if anything piques your interest! It's only $10, the money goes toward a good cause, and there are many scholarships available to anyone who wants to attend but can't afford to!

Val delivered an absolutely devastating blow in the ongoing gift war between them and their fiance, if I do say so myself. They made Con a pocketwatch that magically projects a family portrait onto the face of the clock every time you press the stopper, so it doubles as a locket!
