Seven Sentence Sunday

So, here's my seven sentences.

He needs to think, to treat this like riding the waves of the ocean, swimming in their rhythm to master them. Where exactly was he when this ceiling came down? It seems quite unlikely to him that his loft would be destroyed this way. This is not the way to build apartment complexes in an area that’s at risk of earthquakes. Is it Maddie’s apartment? For a moment, it feels as if the stones are crushing his chest after all. If this a wave, it’s another tsunami, and it's impossible to ride.

Things you specifically or always do when playing certain videogames

I'm doing another tag game about videogames and our not-so-quirky quirks. Give 5 examples this time of habits or behaviors you commit when specific games or genres are played.

Here are mine:

Yakuza Series (PS4): I always, always call the local izakaya and order a take out of tekkamaki (tuna rolls) or some kajiki sashimi. because this game has your character nosh on premium sushi. Worse when you read the description and it always gets me mouthwatering for it. Nevermind the ramen or the donburi in that game, I love sushi and I will never play the Yakuza games without a dozen or so tekkamakis!

Streetfighter/Tekken: Or any one on one fighting games. I never play competitively. So when I sit in the arcade and play against the machine, and someone comes in about to pop in a coin, I always tell then "please don't. I do not want a challenger." I suck at actual human challengers. Thank goodness I've not encountered a jerk who ruins the game for me and let me finish my game.

Rune Factory/Harvest Moon or any farm sim: I check the list of marriageable candidates in advance and always pick the oldest bachelor. If there is an option to create a harem, mores the fun!

Resident Evil 4: I play tetris with my inventory. I am sure I am not alone in this :D

The Witcher 3: Nilfgaard always win! Also, I do not search for Ciri in the Isle of Mist until I get to talk to Countess Mignole with Vesemir still alive, then talk to Vesemir about her T_T.

This is a really tough question, it's almost like having to decide whether I love my son or my daughter more 🙈, impossible. But maybe some fics are a bit special for other reasons.

So, here they are: Let's start with the fic that brought me back into writing fanfic after more than 15 years of neither writing nor reading any at all, my very first Witcher fic:

Ashes to Ashes:

At the end of the Battle of Sodden Hill, a distressed Cahir looks at the burning forest. (Published: 2020-10-12; Words: 417; Chapters: 1/1). (I'm a bit proud of it, too, because it has some nice alliterations and other stylistic devices, I think)

This here is my longest fic so far, although it was supposed to have only 5 chapters. Then along came a couple of nice prompt events and it ended up with 18 🙈:

To kill or not to kill

On Thanedd Ciri is cornered by the black knight of her nightmares. And really wants to kill the man who, in her mind, is responsible for all the bad things that have happened to her, for everything she has lost. Wants to shove her sword through his throat until his feathers are soaked in blood...

This is the story of how Cahir comes to join Geralt's company (Cahir's POV, mix of books and S1-2 of the Netflix series, spoilers for Baptism of Fire, might have spoilers for S4, Published: 2022-08-05; Completed: 2023-04-08; Words: 58,316; Chapters: 18/18)

And the first ever fic I wrote for a prompt event, the Witcher Trick or Treat 2022. I was pretty proud that I managed to use all 11 prompts in one story in the correct order of the prompts and on the precise day. It was a lot of fun to write with some humour, a little whump, a pinch of smut and a scary monster song by our favourite bard:

Creatures of the Night

While Geralt's Hanza is staying in Beauclair, the famous fall event is coming up. An event the Witcher cannot refuse to take part in, even though he does have to dress up for it. However, not everything goes as planned and the members of the Hanza are in for some surprises. Blame it on the grape punch. Or is it the bard's fault after all? (Published: 2022-10-01; Completed: 2022-11-11; Words: 22,898; Chapters: 14/14)

Another first, my very first smut fic. No idea if it's any good, but I like it - well, it's Jaskier/Mermaid 🧜‍♀️ 🌊 😅.

Shimmering Scales and Stormy Seas

This is the story of Jaskier's first time. Decide yourself if it is true or just a tall tale. (Published: 2023-05-13; Words: 800; Chapters: 1/1)

Last but not least, there is my first crack fic. The little plot bunny came to me in the middle of the night, no idea where from. I find it pretty funny:

During their stay at Beauclair Castle, Geralt's Hansa play a game of cards. It soon turns out that not all the Hansa members enjoy it equally much, although Regis claims that it is both entertaining and enlightening. At least, Angoulême is having fun. Other stories are also special for the one or other reason, but, alas, it's already 5. So, this is it for today. Have fun reading!

Hi!

Just wanted to say the Roche/Ciri anon is a harasser in the Witcher fandom. Her ship is a rare pair so obviously not popular enough. Most of the Witcher fandom do not have a problem with her ship but apparently some people ridiculed her on Reddit (which is not cool) and she decided to get back at the fandom by sending anon hate and such. And I can remember that one time she even stole someone's art and changed it for her ship then reposted it without credit. Again most of us in Witcher fandom don't have problem with her ship but with her behavior. She harasses people and is being very homophobic to people who ship m/m and f/f. She even sends anon hate to fandom blog who are not part of the Witcher fandom. She has sent hate to non-fandom blogs too. She use VPN so even when we block her, she comes back. Anyway if you got more of those please ignore her. She usually finds people to target by going through likes or reblogs so sometimes her target don't even know what's going on.

For valandhirwriter and his friends in the fandom, any message or mention of Roche/Ciri is "harrass", because they all despise this ship.

They also created a blog, stealing my name and personal photos for humiliation.

That is so fucking sad and funny, except for the second anon, that's just sad. I'm sorry that happened to you </3 I hope you got that resolved and those photos taken down!

But really, I cannot fathom having so little a life as that. Not going to pretend like I haven't thrown my fair share of salt in my own fandoms but taking it to people's inboxes?? Taking it to people's inboxes when they've never even once considered the idea of even watching a second of the show you're so pissed about?? What's it all for? I hope this person either gets a life or their laptop explodes.

Sentimental Sunday

@sunnywithachanceofbi had a wonderful idea: share your favorite line from your first and last fic, to show the growth. Soooooo!

First fic is from The Witcher 3, "Ride Into Obsession": “Boss, I think they are witchers,” one of the men said nervously.  “Then you have nothing to fear,” his leader returned. “Witchers fight monsters.” “You take what you can get,” Lambert said casually.  “Can't you shut up for once?” Geralt snorted.   “The one with the hammer is mine,” Lambert bragged. “I'm in a bad mood today.” “You're always in a bad mood,” murmured Geralt.  “Are you done with your little talk?” the boss of the little gang interfered. “If they attack, they're finished,” said Lambert, as if he hadn’t heard the other man. “You're getting on my nerves,” Geralt answered. “Same here,” said the leader, and without further remarks he swung his hammer in Lambert's direction.

Last fic, still in progress, is from 911 Lone Star, "Scars That I'm Hiding": “Grief destroys,” TK added with a bitter undertone, whereupon she looked at him in surprise.  “It may reveal a side in us that we perhaps didn't know was there,” Athena returned cautiously. "Sometimes the opposite of how we usually are and act. Some people are weighed down by distress, others are driven by it. I can see a young man who, in his despair, is doing something stupid. And believe me, I have a lot of experience with that.” There was profound honesty in her words, TK could see it reflected on her face. He swallowed hard, as if something was stuck in his throat; the tears welling up behind his eyes that needed to be pushed back started to hurt. The still gentle hammering behind his forehead would sooner or later become stronger.

Here are my 3 personal best (in no particular order)

1.Tekken 3

The first time I truly enjoyed playing a fighting game (I still hate playing PvP in fighting games cuz an actual human is way better at it than me) was when I finally approached a real Tekken pro. A big arcade opened up in my city and I was the only girl who went there every weekend and buy 30 tokens (Php 90.00) to feed the various machines. I saw this tall college dude play King and I was mesmerized watching him pull all of Kings grapples. After several months, I watched him from behind, playing Tekken 3 until I muster up the courage to ask him how he pulled off all his moves. The college dud pulled a piece of paper and pen and began to write down all of Kings' combos and grabs, and gave it to me! Since then I have practiced on every Tekken 3 machine, pulled off all Kings' impressive grapples to a growing audience who couldn't believe their eyes that this little highschool girl is playing Tekken 3 and beating it! Oh and I became good at the games that I reduced my 30 tokens to 5.

2. Resident Evil 2 (PS1)

This game came with the console my mom gave me. First time I popped the disc in and chose Leon S Kennedy on normal mode, I was piled upon by zombies and died. That game over screen traumatized me and I did not pick up RE for months! When I did gave it a second chance, I notice there was a 3rd mode: ARRANGED. It made the game ridiculously easy by giving me all the weapons, and so I plowed through Raccoon City with my machine gun and rocket launcher. It was fun until it wasn't. I decided to play the game on Normal, got eaten and died, then powered through it. Finally beat the game on Normal and Hard. Also went for the S Rank and bonus content. Now I love all horror and survival horror games (Silent Hill, Outlast, Evil Within, etc). It became my favorite genre.

3. The Witcher 3

Had it not for this game, I wouldn't have made The Nilfgaardian Collection or started digital art. I think it was December 2019 (or 16 I dunno, it was Xmas), my brother gave me two choices: TW3 or FF15. I wanted FF15 cuz I have always been a fan of Final Fantasy and TW3 was hyped to the heavens. I wanted to know if the hype was justified and so I got TW3 GOTY edition. The hype... was well deserved! I was hooked, I plat the game, I decided to make fanarts of my fave character (Emhyr) and gave myself a goal: to have the biggest collection of Emhyr and Nilfgaard pics and be known as that crazy chick with an unhealthy obsession to Emhyr and his Nilfgaardian empire. Thus cemented the Nilfgaardian Collection in the fandom!
