In Veres' story "The Amber Complex", the protagonist ends up in a strange winery offering so-called "complexes". By tasting the drinks one gets a glimpse into other lives or worlds. Each round brings a new batch named after a color from Blue to Indigo, but few people make it to the end: the Amber Complex...

The album consists of seven tracks, each complex represented by one song. Just like the stories hidden in the complexes, the album varies in style (even within tracks) from gloomy downtempo through trippy techno and dark synthwave to horror industrial metal and ambient space-synthpop.

Sometimes horror is better left implied than graphically stated. The Devil in a Domino by Chas L'Epine does just that. It follows a man in the late 19th century who is a seemingly happily married & rich man. But he has a history of periods of morose isolation & soon the bodies of mutilated women start showing up in London. This was supposedly inspired by the Jack the Ripper murders, but it goes much deeper than that. It tries to explore the psyche of the murderer & the effects on those dear to him. I love how so much is left to the imagination & the reader to deduce, but it also led me to a slightly confusing ending.
