I've recently bought myself a display tablet and CSP. I also want to to different rendering style during dec break and it took me longer than expected. Turned out okay, still a learning process. ANYWAY I used my D&D party for practice, in alphabetical Order. Abbie, Kars, L’ilu, Llaena, Mir, N, Thalin, Torr, Valaene, Zephyra I know the dimensions are kinda weird but I just wanted the dimensions to be the same. Overall I still have a lot to learn but I kinda went out of my comfort zone for a bit on this one. Will probs offer this in my commissions. If you wanna know any of the characters ask away!

If Orys was really Aerion Targaryens bastard how do you think his Velaryon wife Valaena treated boy? How was his childhood going? Aegon obviously was close to him but what about the sisters? He could spend time in the yard with Visenya, but what with Rhaenys? btw love your fics please never stop writing❤️

We know little to nothing about Valaena and that’s a pity. We have no way to tell if Orys was raised alongside the Targaryen siblings, or if Valaena was still alive to witness that if it ever happened, so everything I will say here it’s speculation.

I suppose there’s little difference in age between Orys and Visenya who was the oldest Targaryen, so Aerion and Valaene were probably married at the time Orys was conceived. There are theories Orys was the fruit of the First Night. A custom Aegon kept after he conquered the Seven Kingdoms and that would only be abolished in King Jaehaerys’ reign due to Queen Alyssane’s influence.

When we think about how Aegon favored and trusted Orys, we can think that not only they were raised together or at least close, but that Orys was conceived indeed when Aerion claimed the first night right:

When a Lord of Dragonstone took his rights according to the first night custom, the brides were seen as "blessed", and the children born of such unions were often given lavish gifts by their father. Bastards who inherited Valyrian features such as purple eyes were said to be born of "dragonseed", and in time, they became known as "seeds".

Now we have to take a look at House Velaryon in an attempt to know who was Valaena.

House Velaryon is an ancient and proud house, with the blood of old Valyria in its veins. A noble house with a storied Valyrian lineage, the Velaryons had come to Westeros even before the Targaryens, and its members often have Valyrian features, such as silver hair, purple eyes, and pale skin. Though never dragonriders, the Velaryons had for centuries remained the oldest and closest allies of the Targaryens. 

The sea was their element, not the sky. During the Conquest, it was Velaryon ships that carried Aegon’s soldiers across Blackwater Bay, and later formed the greater part of the royal fleet. Throughout the first century of Targaryen rule, so many Lords of the Tides served on the small council as master of ships that the office was widely seen as almost hereditary.

The multiple marriages between House Targaryen and Velaryon would continue for more than a century after the Conquest with even Rhaenyra being married to a Velaryon during The Dance of the Dragons and having her personal sigil mixed with theirs for they were her great supporters during the conflict against her younger brother, Aegon II, for the crown.

This said we can go back to Valaena. I believe she was most likely a proud woman, half-Targaryen herself, and wouldn’t feel threatened by Orys’ presence in Dragonstone if that happened, especially because Orys didn’t have the famous “Targaryen features”. Maybe some jealousy if her marriage to Aerion represented more than a political match. 

I see Valaena reacting violently only if Aerion ever proposed or considered the idea of marrying Orys to Visenya or Rhaenys, most likely Rhaenys because Aegon was expected to marry Visenya. Only a crazy scenario.

We know Orys and Rhaenys were tasked to conquer the Stormlands, so I suppose they were close too. 

I’m happy you enjoy the stories! I’m working on a piece for Vikings fandom at the moment, but there are many headcanons I’ll write for Orys and Argella, Rhaenys, Visenya, Aegon...
