Idris Amir Leonidas Al-Sayyid (He/They) is a prince(?) of a lost kingdom(?). Convinced that the gods will one day have a quest to deliver upon him, he's taken to pestering the local temple priestess in the hopes she may aid him.

Leonidas claims to hail from Ampheia, a kingdom from the frigid north; in his own words he is the sole survivor and heir of this kingdom after it was tragically destroyed by an avalanche. He claims that it was a land of rich history, and that one day he will restore it to its former glory...

However... You can go around and ask any historian, and they'll claim that there is no known ancient kingdom by the name of Ampheia, and that Leonidas' accent and style of dress would be better associated with the lands far, far south of the frigid lands that he claims Ampheia was once located, and Leonidas' name is not associated with any nobility. It seems like the sword he holds is a genuine artifact if nothing else! ... Where did he get it from, though?

Regardless of whatever sounds may be associated with him, Leonidas tries his best to be a prim and proper prince... Ignore the fact that he has a tendency to over water any roses he plants (they're very important to his aesthetic), or that he barely knows how to swing his sword, or that there are few moments where his regal pomp disappears and he gasps something like "oh, what the hell?!" after dropping his favourite book!! He's the genuine article, after all. You believe him, don't you?

Recently, he's been trying to gain the favour of Nefas, goddess of fate, luck, and fortune, in the hopes she'll grant him the destiny he so desperately desires. And thus he's been spending a lot of time pestering Nefas' priestess, Elmede.

I think Derek would be really into chocolate; I'd picture him having a bit of a sweet tooth.

smitten — was it easy for the people around you and f/o to figure out you liked each other? did they get involved in you getting together at all?

Yes, especially Tyler and Leslie, our coworkers. They'd always tease us, wondering when we would get together. Angie also was able to detect our unrequited feelings for each other and tried to tell me that my job was more important.

Llyr Melchior (he/him) is a former dragon harrower; as opposed to slaying dragons, he chased them out from their hoards so their land and treasures could be utilized by humans. He prided himself on his work, once upon a time...

Llyr developed a fascination with dragons when he was a young child living with his father on a remote, frigid island. This was after he saw a dragon of myth flying low over the land, its immense size covering the entirety of the island in shadow. Llyr wanted to know everything he could about the creature, so he got to reading... Eventually devouring every book on dragons that existed on the island. Later, as a teen, he would travel to the mainland and do the same there.

He felt strangely towards dragons; a repulsion, admiration, and jealousy towards their immense power all at once. When he speaks he speaks of them as vile, hateable creatures... Yet the love for them is obvious in his voice all the same. Eventually, in his early 20s, he decided that book knowledge wasn't nearly enough, and that he would be better off actually seeing a dragon, as opposed to just reading about them. This is how he joined his first dragon harrowing expedition, and using the knowledge he gained over the years, he succeeded.

Llyr became fairly famous in the field over time, though he was by no means perfect. Each harrowing left him with new scars, and he lost companions. Nevertheless he continued, and eventually a new desire formed; he wanted to find the dragon that had flown over his home so many years ago, and harrow it. He knew it may be his final quest if he did so, but he would die a hero, and that was a reward in and of itself to him.

Though his search was long ago, he did find this dragon... but in his attempts to harrow this dragon, he failed. The dragon was repulsed by his hubris, though could admire his courage in even attempting such a thing. Instead of killing him... The dragon instead took Llyr's heart, thus leaving him immortal and unfulfilled. With a great dragons curse now upon his body, he could no longer be a Harrower; any dragon he attempted to face would sense this curse, and know of his greatest failure. They would have no reason to fear him...

Currently, he's trying to figure out what to do next with the eternal life that was thrust upon him (he kind of never made any other life plans)

Llyr was inspired by a short story by Patricia McKillip. Here's a song for him!

I’ll be honest my least favorite character in dragons dogma isn’t the 40000th goblin or the drake that’s killed me AGAIN or the guy thats plotting and it’s not the duke or grigori it’s fucking aelinore.

I’m serious she grinds my gears so bad she is i think the ONLY character i dislike, including the non-official romances like random townies. Or the goddamn dragon. Or the bosses that keep killing me. You’re nice to her one time and max out her annoying ass’s affinity and i can’t even ignore her because i want/need the stuff from her quests.

the thing is she probably isn’t that bad of a character, really, but I’m blinded by irritation at gameplay and her being like… the default beloved unless you just ignore her existence entirely, it feels. I know logically she isn’t this bad. And yet. I hope grigori fucking eats her
