Ecoboost Mustang to C6 Z06. A small upgrade.

Recently I decided it was time for a little upgrade. This happened a few weeks ago. But I just decided to make the post.

My Last Car:

My previous car was a 2016 Mustang Ecoboost with the Performance Pack. I loved this car. It was a really good daily and was pretty quick when stock. It didn't stay that way for long of course. When I learned how easy it was to tune this car I had to take advantage of it, especially because my dealership was mod friendly. I had upgraded wheels, tires, brakes, sway bars, springs, intercooler and got a tune. Mostly your basic bolt-on stuff. In its final form, the car handled like a dream and is made about 380whp and 410wtq on E30. But I felt like it might be time to move on to something with a little more power.

Why the Z06?:

My last car was awesome. But being a new car it had a warranty that I was scared to fuck with. So I limited myself to bolt on parts that I could remove if I needed to. I decided I wanted a car that I can irresponsibly throw money at and go fast. During my search, I drove C5's, C6's, 5.0 Mustangs, Caymans, M3's, S2000's, CTS-V's, and even a V10 M6. I really loved the S85 V10 in the M6, but the reliability issues and maintenance costs really spooked me. After driving all of these cars I finally narrowed it down to an LS3 C6 and a C6 Z06. The C6 base was certainly nice and drove well. But after driving the Z06 with the LS7, I didn't know if I could ever go back. It was the perfect combination of price, reliability, handling, and power. Also, My insurance quoted the Corvette for $50 a month cheaper than my Mustang. Also, I'm sure /u/v8livesmatter would have supported support my decision.

The Car:

I knew that I definitely wanted a Millennium Yellow or Torch Red car. My Mustang was Competition Orage, So I'm a fan of bright Colors. I also wanted a car that was near stock. I didn't mind an exhaust or a short shifter. But I avoided cars that had a lot of work done to them. I wanted to start with a blank canvas and avoid buying someone's project. So the car I ended up buying is entirely stock. At the time of writing this, it has 4600 miles. 500 of those are mine. The previous owner had receipts and invoices for every little thing done to the car since he bought it. He also recently replaced the brake pads and clutch. It definitely wasn't the cheapest car, but it was definitely one of the cleanest.

Ecoboost vs Z06:

The first thing I noticed while driving was the torque. My Ecoboost hit peak boost at 3500 RPM and sort of fell of around 5000RPM. But the LS7 has torque EVERYWHERE. Along with that, it's practically idle at highway speeds. I sort of miss the feel of boost coming in that my Ecoboost had. But I would be lying if I said winding out the LS7 to 7 grand wasn't fun. The weight difference is also pretty noticeable. My Ecoboost was lighter than a GT and I really appreciated that. But the Z06 is almost 450 lbs lighter. The only downside I can think of so far it the interior. My Mustang didn't have the best interior. But my god, I forgot how Potatoe early 2000's GM interiors were. Compared to this my Mustang was an S-Class. Somehow there aren't any rattles and the previous owner put in a nice head unit. It really is awful, but I forget about it instantly when I drop a gear and put my foot down.

What's next:

My first move will be an LS swap, oh wait! Actually, I'll be getting a frontal clear bra to preserve the fantastic paint. After that, I'm going to change out these wheels since I hate chrome. I still have no idea what I want in terms of wheels. So I am open to suggestions! After that basic stuff, I am definitely interested in doing headers and a full exhaust. I'm also open to suggestions on that.
