"You have an awful lot of clothes, Senator," Anakin said, eyeing the trunks of dresses. It was more clothes than he'd ever owned in his lifetime. Life as a slave meant he had very little to wear, getting by on scraps and hand-me-downs from the others. His mother always put so much care into mending his clothes, but they were never lavish. They merely did their job of shielding him from the suns and keeping him warm at night.

Even his clothes as a Padawan were minimal, and none of them were his personal possessions. Fashion was not important to a Jedi, but the people of Naboo all seemed to value the way they presented themselves. Their planet was beautiful, and their politicians wore beautiful things. Her world was so different from his own, even with something as simple as clothing.

He reached a hand out, drawn to the fabrics of one of the garments already unpacked and hanging in the closet. It was a deep blue, almost metallic. He shouldn't touch her things. He knew he should respect her privacy, but he couldn't stamp out the feeling of curiosity. "It isn't soft," he said, disappointment seeping into his voice even though he never meant for it to. It wasn't his to touch in the first place. He ran his hand over the garment once more, just feeling the metallic embroidery. "Sorry, Senator," he said, retreating his hand back to his side. "I shouldn't be touching your things." He stood awkwardly, gaze trailing back to her. "Would you like my help unpacking the rest?" He could at least make himself useful to her while he offered her protection.

Exhaustion plagued Anakin more and more with each mission, but nothing could stop the turmoil in the galaxy. Missions to remote, outer-rim planets became more frequent as the war reached its climax. Catastrophe across the galaxy seemed to occur daily, and General Skywalker was so often the man for the job, especially when it came to exploring anomalies in the Force.

The destruction on the most recent planet was unlike any he'd seen. Whatever happened left the terrain in a state of ashen desolation beyond what any weapon he knew could produce. The feeling it left in the Force was even more peculiar, like a silent storm where only one voice remained in its wake.

He plucked her from the ashes and had the clone troopers carry her on board the ship for medical attention. Somehow, in spite of it all, she seemed fine. Dirty and ash-covered, yes, but she was relatively unscathed compared to what surrounded her.

His only assumption was that she'd caused whatever it was that happened.

His eyes never left her, even when the droids ceased their work and left the room. Whoever she was, he had no idea, but he assumed she was a Force user. No one else could survive destruction so catastrophic.

She was an anomaly in the Force indeed.

He could wait. It would be days before their ship reached another planet, and if what the medical droids said about her condition was true, the woman would stir any moment. He stayed planted on a crate, arms crossed over his chest as he watched her. The rhythmic beeping of her monitors filled the silence enough, and Anakin mulled over his many questions in the meantime.

"Noa," Anakin said, putting his hand on her back. "Deep breaths. In through your nose, out through your mouth." He didn't want he to be sick, for both her comfort and his own. Injury and space travel made people nauseous, and Anakin had seen his fair share of it. Still, he wanted to avoid it as much as possible.

He stayed knelt beside her, brow furrowed in worry for both his sister and Padmé. He hadn't told her of his feelings, his attachment, but Noa wasn't stupid. He hoped it would continue to go unacknowledged between them. "Don't talk so much if it hurts you." He could wait. Their conversation could be slow. "We aren't in a hurry. You're safe."

Noa took a few more deep breaths in an attempt to steady herself as she looks at Anakin. It didn't take someone as strong with the Force as they were to see he was worried. And she knew why.

"She has a deep wound, but she is going to be okay," Noa answered, her voice still sounding like she was out of breath but trying to be steady. "I made sure she got the bacta so she could heal w--"

She stopped. She glanced away from him as she began to make a sort of gagging motion. She was about to be sick, most likely from the pain medicine she had been given.

Anakin froze in a panic when he felt the cool metal encircle his left hand. It was such a quick flash that he could do nothing to stop it. He'd planned on cuffing the other man and taking him in, but the tide turned swiftly.

Despite being handcuffed to him, he was grateful that he had one free hand. It meant he wasn't entirely unsafe. They were simply in the same position now, neither one having bested the other but linked all the same.

He yanked his wrist, hard. "Undo it."

Anakin fought the urge to argue by biting the inside of his cheek and keeping his head down. The patronizing tone made his chest feel like it was filled with fire.

But Bail was right. He knew it.

He stamped out his anger as quickly as it overcame him, shame taking its place. He dropped the tension in his face while his shoulders remained tight. Meeting Bail's gaze, he said, "I'm not saying I believe it to be true, Senator. I know it isn't true."

SLANDER . HE nearly scoffs . this was nothing to what he'd experienced . nothing next to what the holo - net had said about him and breha when she'd had her most recent miscarriage .

"Do you mean grey hairs like all of those you've got?" he asked, gesturing to his own temple. He'd noticed his Master going grey around the time of his knighting, but he'd yet to make a joke about it. "You probably tell everyone I gave those to you."

He laughed as he navigated the ship away from the scientists and out of the hangar, watching as two of them tried to wave them back into the hangar. Anakin doubted they could see, but he gave them a little wave good-bye back before putting both of his hands back on the controls. "But how come you never told me you flew in an ion storm?" he asked. "I thought you hated flying."

"I'll have you know that I flew in an ion storm before," Obi-Wan teased. He had no intention of making this a flying competition between the two of them, but it served as a gentle reminder to Anakin that Obi-Wan was almost twice his age and had plenty more experience than him.

That didn't mean he was 'too old', as Anakin put it so eloquently. Obi-Wan settled in the passenger seat next to his unruly former Padawan and clicked his tongue. "One of these days you're going to grow your first grey hair, and then I'll be the one laughing." He then spotted one of the scientists running towards their small ship in the hangar. "You may want to take off now, Anakin. We should postpone arguing with the facility staff after we return."

something, something- having Obi-Wan be in a canon relationship with Cody could've added so much to the narrative because, even just in canon interactions, CodyWan mirrors Anidala and if they took it further and made it canon then they could've added another layer to the story of Anakin's Fall

I don't really have much to add to this, this thought was just bumping around in my head
