“Cloud, there’s something I wanted to tell you..” They knew each other for so long now, they literally grew up with each other. Over the years she happened to fall in love with him and now it was time to tell him. But instead of actually saying it, she mumbled something unintelligible.

Aerith smiled in their kiss, too, letting him have all the control he wanted. The thing was, Cloud was sloppy and not at all better than her.

Aerith giggled at his shyness. He was making fun of her, now it’s her turn! “Hey, why do you ask me? According to you I did a terrible job. Now you do it better.” She leaned in just a tiny bit, she wanted Cloud to initiate this. “Come on, I’m waiting.”

His eyes narrowed for a moment at her teasing before Cloud closed the gap between them. Placing a hand on her thigh, the blond pressed his lips to hers, finally kissing Aerith with a small smile.

Aerith hummed happily, as she skipped through Sector 5. She’s picked some flowers from the church and brought them over to her place to plant them into her now growing garden. Why didn’t she start doing this sooner? On her way she saw the blonde infantryman, who’s guarding a warehouse for weeks now. Always at the same time. He did look bored to do that, but she understood it. Who’d want to stand around all day, doing nothing? One day she noticed him looking at her and she smiled back. Then it became a routine that she took the same way past the warehouse and greet him with a smile. And she hoped it would make his day a little better, since everyone else around here pretty much ignored him.

“Hi.” She said to him today, waving happily. Aerith was in a very good mood today. Maybe, after bringing the flowers to her place, she could give this poor guy something to drink? Or a snack? Would he like that?

They've been through quite a lot today...Bugenhagen and the other people here in Cosmo Canyon taught them a lot about the planet and the lifestream. And then Red XIII, uh, NANAKI found out that his father wasn't the coward he always believed he was. What the elders taught them about the Cetra made Aerith quite sad if she's being honest. It looked like she was the only one left.

At the end of the day, the team gathered around the bonfire, Aerith sat a little away from everyone else to think about the future ahead of them. Of course Aerith knew what would come in the future. The lifestream was telling her a lot of things during their journey. She's gonna die soon by the hands of Sephiroth. But that'll ensure a future where everyone else lives.

She knew from the very beginning not to get too close to Cloud. To not fall in love with him and even telling him to not love her back either. Still the opposite happened. Aerith sighed, hugging her knees tight to her chest and staring absentmindedly at the flames.

"I dunno what it is you see in me, Aerith... but just know, I'm glad it was me you chose~"

“I wish you could see what I see.” Said Aerith, as she stared into his blue eyes, a gentle smile on her lips. “But I don’t mind reminding you every onc in a while.” Then she went on her tiptoes to kiss his cheek.

Things started off very innocent. Aerith wanted to bring Cloud back to Sector 7 and they made a shortcut -not really- through the destroyed highway. They had to get through some tight spaces before but now they tried to dodge and attack and now they were kinda pressed together in there. Not that Aerith minded that. What surprised her was that Cloud started touching her hips and went further up. And the way he stared at her...Well, she didn't mind that either, so she let him know by pressing more against him and raising her head so their lips almost meet. She wanted to see what he'd do.

Aerith didn't mind that at all. If anything it made her happier. "What do you mean with that?" She asked him, titling her head curiously.

“Aww, you’re pouting! That’s super cute!” Aerith tried not to squeal, but it was hard when Cloud was pouting like that, making him look even cuter than before.

       Cloud reached out to muss her hair wildly in revenge. “Okay Disney Princess. You’re not really one to talk, though.”

"Tifa!" Aerith ran up to her friend and hugged her, before she could see the gift in her hands. "Happy birthday, Tifa!"

Aerith could see right through his lie, but decided to play along for now. She really wished she knew what's going through his mind, but she wouldn't push him if he didn't want to talk about it. Maybe he couldn't sleep because of they battle they've fought just a few hours ago. Where they fought against fate and...Sephiroth. and maybe these visions plagued him? He wouldn't be the only one then, everyone tried to make sense of these visions.

Aerith sat down next to him, looking at the flowers that confiniently grew in front of them. "Okay. What are they saying?" She asked calmly. Now that they're out of Midgar, Aerith could hear the voices a little clearer. It might take a while till she could really understand what tjey're saying.

The blonde turned in the direction of the soft voice, spotting Aerith’s trademark braid and red dress under the dimly lit night sky. He must have let his guard down if she got this close to him without him noticing.

Cloud wanted to give some vague excuse that he was keeping watch in case any enemies snuck upon them, but if Cloud was being honest with himself, he couldn’t sleep. The mercenary had trouble sleeping ever since the day he arrived at Midgar and if given the choice he would rather stay up all night than face the fragmented dreams he couldn’t make sense of.

“Spike!” Zack jogged up to him excitedly for the first time in three weeks. He had been gone for a while, so he hadn’t been there to harass Cloud with affection like normal. “Guess who’s back from deployment!” He pointed a thumb toward himself. “I’m back in one piece!”

“I noticed.” Said Cloud, as he turned to his best friend. “I’ve heard you screaming around ever since you arrived.” And to be honest, he wasn’t quite sure if he should let Zack find him or hide from his crazy excitement for a little while. He decided to be found, since he surely would find him soon anyway. “I’m glad you’re back though.”

Cloud let go of the wagon and watched it -with Tifa in it- disappear to the Wall Market. He trusted Tifa and if she said she’ll be okay, then she’ll be okay. She’s very strong, there’s no way anything would happen to her.

Turning around, he walked to the gates of Sector 7 to go back to the bar, just as he planned, only to see Aerith blocking his path.

Aerith was already turning away to leave and let Cloud rest, but a sudden pull on her wrist pulled her back. She was so surprised and caught off-guard that she fell on the bed. Actually right on top of Cloud.
