The last few months had been torture. Every morning, Leona would wake up with a heavy heart, and there was only one cure for her condition: Feemere. Yes, whenever she was with the half-dragon, she felt lighter and more like herself, even, than she had in a long time. It had indeed been a few long months, of the other woman being close yet not close enough, not in the way Leona wanted her to be. The time had finally come that the Solari would lay her cards on the table, she thought, as she walked down the slopes on the mountainside.
Upon reaching the spot where they had agreed to meet, Leona sat down on a nearby fence and looked out over the landscape that stretched from the foot of the mountain to as far as her eyes could see. As she waited, she wondered how she would be able to tell Feemere about her feelings  —  it’s not that she was afraid of rejection as much as she was afraid of ruining the special bond they had, in her opinion. She was so lost in thought she scarcely even noticed when the other arrived at the platform behind her.

“Well, if it isn’t the King of the Narrows,” Firefly drawls, drawing her flamethrower and pointing it squarely at the man’s chest. “Penguin wants you dead, you know. Time to convince me not to get a huge raise on my salary by burning you.”

give me that soft gay shit ??? ☆ shes a lil bit of a player but only becus she’s bored. its never her intention to hurt someone but girls often get attached and her scorpio ass isn’t the best at letting em down easy ☆ once she left, hennessey basically tried to shed all trace of her hometown from her, but she has a slight mississippi twang to her accent that only comes out when she’s really mad or rly close with someone [ she hates it sm and hates when ppl comment on it lol ] ☆ she’s forever writing songs, like 9 times out of ten if u cant find her, shes prob holed up in her bedroom, cigarette in hand, writing some sappy shit about a girl she hooked up w after her latest show [ kiiiinda wanna do a plot w someone she’s super into but the person couldnt give less of a fck about her ?? Music Theory #5
Stall Me by Panic! At The Disco. Reset Theory. Big spoilers for everything. I’ve warned you.
Fall to your knees, and kiss the ring, the crowd's rejoicing. All of my dreams, Wake up to despise a world I once loved.
Everything is such a blurry haze for Saeran... Unknown... Ray... whoever his identity is at the time.
It’s like he’s been living in a time loop, days blurring each other, hours passing and yet nothing changing for the better, and time starting and stopping only to repeat the same cycle over and over again until the end of time. It’s a miserable existence for him to wake up to every morning.
There’s not a time that he can remember from before when this painful loop began... there are no positive memories in the past, even with or without this loop, but he had wished there could have been at least one thing from the past that would have made him feel hopeful.
When he wakes up and the loop begins, he’s in Magenta and the believers are buzzing with excitement for the promised land that the Savior says she will hand to them if they follow her every command.
There had been a time when he had believed as they believed, but now he couldn’t force himself to commit to it, he just dedicated himself to it because it was all that he had, and all that he ever seemed to be able to return to in time.
Even as his head is burning hot with the elixir. All he knows is this elixir, his Savior, this Paradise...
Whatever it all means, he despises it.
And yet, there’s one factor in this endless loop that seems to always just be beyond his reach. And that factor happens to you. The reason his life began to twist into the same weeks all began when you came into his life.
You’re this person that makes the loop turn out the way it does. You always exist in this loop of two weeks with him, and everything that he does, everything that he has to do, everything that he is aspiring for always includes your existence in the brew in some way. It’s your face that always haunts his dreams.
In a way, he’s glad that you are always going to come back when time repeats itself. In another, he’s angry that in so many of these timelines that you are far beyond his reach.
He thought for the first dozen times that he watched you make choice after choice, right and wrong, life and death, love and loss, and with every once of those choices, you still wound up back at the start with him, and him alone.
In his haze, he wanted to believe that the universe wanted the two of you to be together. It had to be why you were living so many lives.
He watched it happen, over and over again, times where you romanced the others, times where you lost yourself to your bad choices, times where he got close to having you in his embrace, and times where he did have you in his embrace only for time to turn to black and restart when he won.
How could the universe want you both to meet if it ripped you apart every time he won? His green eyes would radiate with anger and frustration when he awoke and you were far gone from his reach!
Over and over, it was like everything was making a mockery of him. This person that he had chosen, he was forced to watch them get with everyone in the world but him, including his own brother, and he could only with a heavy heart and bury his pain.
Why would you bring me in if you knew what you'd become? So curse everyone and everything, even the sun.
Saeran isn’t sure how long he continues to live in this reset. No matter what he does, he is the only one that knows that it is happening. He’s the only person that knows that it won’t matter what happens, they’ll all wake up in the past and be alive. It’s kind of laughable. He knows that he’ll be alright.
But he is so far from alright. There’s so much that is lost to him every time that he starts over, as he drowns himself in his elixir just to make himself dull and forget the pain.
After living the same two weeks for so many long, after watching you love and live with everyone, something changed. He’s pushed further back into his own life, plopped in a time where your smile is in front of him and can’t be stolen away.
Seeing your face doesn’t cause his world to go dark. You wind up in Magenta with him during these moments, but he isn’t himself... he isn’t the kind of person that’s entirely put together as you are.
But it doesn’t matter who he is in the moment. He just wants to cling to your company and never let go of it. It manifests so poorly in Ray, the way his eyes dare to water when he thinks you hate him. He decides it doesn’t matter if you hate him, as long as you’re in this place with him, as long as you both exist in this time, he will be okay.
Stall me, stall me, I'm all in. Stall me, call me up or break me in.
Let him be with you.
Let him listen to you speak.
Let him linger in your room just a little longer.
Just let him have this for a moment.
Give him a little longer with you.
A dark room in the wallflower garden of the party. She's got four on the floor. She's waiting to kick-start me. So just stall me.
You speak to him as you had always spoken to him. You were polite, and you were kind. Even after all those times where you had been petrified of him, there was something in those eyes of yours that seemed to know more than anyone else. He was so hopeful because of that.
You were so kind to him.
You believed in him.
He thought it was going to be okay.
He really believed that it would have been different from that time. It doesn’t turn out in his favor the first time that he lives through this loop.
You look away from him with pain in your eyes and follow after V instead. The world doesn’t end, though, it just keeps going, and the last thing that he can remember from that loop is that it ended in a fire as so many times before.
Then another began, and he waited for it to hit again.  This time begins the same that the last time had. It pains him to know that even as you came to him, even as you smile at him, it won’t last forever. You’ll be ripped out of his life sooner or later. It always happens.
I had a rosy dream. You gave up on you, and I gave up on me. Well, love came along and said, "Leave them be."
He clung to your hand so tightly in the garden underneath the stairs.
“Hey, Ray...?” your voice spoke to him.
“Yes?” He looked over to you as he waited for you to speak. It didn’t matter to him whatever you were going to say. He would listen, he would always listen, and he would pray that you would keep talking forever to him so that the universe may not rip you apart sooner!
“Do you ever feel trapped?”
Well, he didn’t expect you to say that.
“What do you mean?” he asked.
Your lips are pursed, and your eyes seem to twinkle with something that showed that you had lived a thousand lifetimes. “I mean... do you ever feel like you’re stuck in a rut? Like, no matter you do, you’ll always wind up back where you started?”
There’s a painful look in his eyes. He knows that feeling far more than he believes you’ll ever understand. “Yeah. I do... why do you ask?”
“No reason,” you looked away from him. “I mean, you’re always working so hard here. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you do anything else but work hard for Mint Eye. Don’t you ever wonder what it might be like if you weren’t so dedicated to this place? If things were different? If you could be somewhere else?”
He could never dare to dream such things.
We were wrecked on every rocky tasted. Light a cork my pretty little angel. I'm singing to empty bottles everywhere, everywhere.
Whenever you speak to him, he tries to make it last as long as he physically can make it be. For once, it seems like it works out in his favor. It feels like he’s done something right.
You don’t leave with V this time even when the truth is revealed to you.
“I trust you,” you say to him. “I don’t think you would do anything to hurt me.”
You stay with him.
There are tears in his eyes. How is worthy of that?
Stall me, stall me, I'm all in. Stall me, call me up or break me in.
It feels like he’s on cloud nine as you hold his hand. Underneath the happiness, he fears that it is false hope. Just push him away now before it’s too much for his heart to handle. Just pull him in before he lets all of his faith and hope crumble into tiny pieces only to wither to dust.
Yet you continue to reach out to him. Your fingers touch his own more and more, and you embrace him when his body is too heavy for him to hold up. He always asks why you do it. Why would you waste your time with him when-- when you’ve lived so much better lives than the one you’re living now.
He feels like his heart is beating out of his chest. Your rosy cheeks are more then he’s worth. Yet, you just keep smiling at him without ever saying a word.
A dark room in the wallflower garden of the party. She's got four on the floor. She's waiting to kick-start me. So just stall me.
It’s too much for him.
Your lips are touching his. It feels like his body is electric. It feels like he’s burning so hot that not even the longest ice bath will cool his heat. It’s everything that he’s ever wanted in a moment.
Everything he’s been wanting for so long, but he can’t even bring himself to stay with you. The fear of losing you, that hits him as hard as the feeling of your affections, he has to run away and collect himself.
She counts on stars, astrology. My moods are mercurial.  But I know Mercury. Don't hold your breath. Baptized in the river of you. Hold on death, the moon, the stars a sliver of you.
He momentarily loses himself to his confusion and hatred. In that blurry haze, he does a lot of things that he will never forgive himself for, and yet, you still stay with him, even as your eyes well up with tears.
It doesn’t seem to matter what he does, once again. He can’t make you leave him. You refuse to ever quit, and it hurts him. As much as he wants to keep you at his side, and hold you close to him, he doesn’t know how long it’s going to last this time.
Stall me, stall me I'm all in. Stall me, call me up or break me in. A dark room in the wallflower garden of the party.
You help to pull him out of his haze. You help him escape the very place he’s been trapped for so long, it’s the first time he’s ever been able to leave Magenta, the first time he’s ever had the building behind him, with no reason to return to it ever again.
He clings to this moment. He clings to these feelings. Saeran cannot let go of you for even a moment in the fear that this will all end, as it always ends. Not for a moment do you let go of him either, fearful that this will end.
The entire night, even as he tries to help the RFA, tries to help the find his brother to no avail, he makes sure that you are always in his line of sight.
When he’s done, he’s holding you so tightly, praying that you aren’t taken away from him when he truly- finally had you.
Stall me, stall me I'm all in. Stall me, call me up or break me in. A dark room in the wallflower garden of the party. She's got four on the floor. She's waiting to kick-start me. She said she's got more where that came from to spark me.
“I’m so glad you’re with me.”
“I’m happy I’m here with you, too. I don’t want this to reach the end. For the first time in a long time, I actually feel I’m content.”
“What do you mean the end?”
“Oh, it’s nothing.”
“As long as we’re together then this will never have to end. Even if we aren’t physically together... the memories of this time will always exist for us. The time that we’ve shared will always be in our hearts no matter what happens. But, I don’t want to worry about the future and anything that might happen from here on out, I just want to focus on right now with you... what’s happening at the moment.”
“Yeah... you’re right. Let’s enjoy now.”
As long as you existed in the here and there now, he would always search for a way to find you again.
So just stall me.

5 Times The Love
5 Times the Love. { No Longer Accepting }
SEND “5 TIMES THE LOVE” AND I WILL WRITE A DRABBLE ABOUT THE FIVE TIMES MY MUSE FELL IN LOVE WITH YOUR MUSE.
          i. In the garden among the roses, a modernSocrates and Plato – a resurrected Dante and Virgil – begin the lesson plan. Prisonwas Governor Ferguson’s palace to rule. Overseeing the work of the women,Governor and Deputy stroll at an even pace. Vera doesn’t struggle to catch upwith Miss Ferguson. She’s learning. While Joan is on the topic of correction,Vera listens in her currently enamored state. The breathy way in which shespeaks lures her in like bait on a hook. It’s a piercing sensation. She’scultured and knowledgeable, capable of quoting the classics and spill thetruths of a long game. She is everything Vera wants to be.
Admirationand reverence tangled together like the lethal snare of vines. Without the gloves,Joan pinches a silken, red petal. She looks over the garden with thesatisfaction of a creator. The petal shrivels from her touch and falls to theground. Her Deputy swears that Joan grimaces – at least, a twitch of her lipscould be perceived as such. Joan lets go, only to snap her fingers at Vera. Theroses in the garden are corrupt, tainted like the inmates.
‘ Vera, are you listening? ‘
Blinking, she jolts back toattention. A deep flush of embarrassment tints the tips of her ears and hercheeks. Vera feels hope. For herself, for the women. She mistakes it for love. Seducedby reason and order, a crush manifests.
           ‘ Yes, Guv’na. ‘
With a nod, Joan walks and Verafollows.
          She thinks it’s love.
ii. A wolf surprises a lamb sore from growingher own set of teeth. On her doorstep, Governor Ferguson holds up a bag of takeaway. Shelooks surprisingly domestic in that earthen, near sheer blouse and a satchelover her shoulder. It’s a sight Vera could easily become accustomed to. Shefeels a twinge in her chest and steps aside to grant Carmilla entry.
Thefood waits on the counter while Vera rushes in to take care of her mother { it’sbecome a curse for her, an ugly word }.Mum spits out her medication and gripes about Vera’s Florence Nightingale act. Verafears that she is an impostor, a fake, and everyone knows it. Guiltily, hershoulders slump down.
Seatedbeside Rita, Joan intervenes. One malevolent entity grapples with another. Shesqueezes Rita’s frail hand riddled with varicose veins. Joan leans forward, whispers a mystery that will be buried alive with her.
Wilted,Vera leans against the doorframe. Watches the exchange. Her heart pounds wildlyin her ears. A worn smile slips into place. She looks at Joan as if she’s thenext fucking messiah
          She knows it’s love.
iii. Another midnight debrief. Another midnighthour where she wants to scream for more, more, more. Vodka tonics replace mint leaves and mojitos. Ice clinks.Condensation clings to the glass. Every single time, Vera can’t fathom how Joanisn’t drunk. Maybe her height’s a factor, maybe it’s her Russian blood, butVera’s too hammered to theorize.
Thistime, she picks up on the slight slur that accentuates Joan’s voice. Shegiggles and sets down her empty glass. Joan loosens her tie. Vera’s blouseopens, exposing her throat and collarbone. The Governor looks at her as if she’sgoing to flay her, eat her alive, and suck the marrow from her bones. Verafeels heat, strange and confusing. She wants it to happen.
A firm, strong hand squeezes herthigh. She slides forward and scoots toward the edge of her seat. Wetting herlips, she aspires for a chaste kiss, but receives more. More means teeth and tongue and gasping for air with Joan’shair falling into her face, shrouding her like a veil.
          She believes it’s love.
iv. A silken scarf with a pattern of butterfliescovers up her scrawny neck. Vera checks in at the front desk. The nurse asks ifshe’s family. How she wants to laugh at that. Instead, she smiles and shakesher head. Says ‘no.’ This isn’t how she expected the governorship would fallinto her lap. Despite burning down half of Wentworth, despite the razorbladebetrayal, she visits Joan at the psych ward.
Shesits at the round table like it’s a skewed version of the Last Supper. Purged ofall feeling in a catatonic state, the medication masks Joan Ferguson. It’s hardto look at, harder to say. Vera squirms in discomfort, she’s trying to stay forall the battles, but this is somehow worse than when she visited Fletch. Veratries to think about what Joan is thinking - really thinking. Joan wears an expressionless expression as theportrait of vacancy.
“I fought your battles. I did whatyou asked of me. I learned everything you chose to teach me. It wasn’t enough. I wasn’t enough.”
As she reaches across the table, herhand covers Joan’s. Curiously, this ghost of Joan looks at the hand, but doesn’tmake a cruel, jabbing remark with a sharp tongue. She would have preferredthat. It’s easier to comfort stone. This is the danger of falling in love witha switchblade.
Veradoesn’t expect a response. She expects glassy eyes and parted lips. Herface reddens from the pain of holding back tears. Instead, she chooses to steelherself. Her anger swallows her. She retracts her smaller hand. Curls it into aloose fist.
Come back to me, shewants to plead. Show me the way.
“I’ll beback tomorrow… to check on you.”
Sheleaves behind the scent of her perfume, but not the betrayal. That stillstings.
          She swears it’s love.
          v. Baptizedin a river of fire, Governor Bennett runs Wentworth with compassion unlike herpredecessors. Despite all her wrongdoings, she doesn’t stray far from protocol. With Vera’s former mentor on remand, Joan Ferguson has yet to be laid to earth. So, it’s an old game of cat and mouse. To Carthage, a devil of a woman comes. She only lives to inflict pain.
No morally superior position exists within this circumstance. She wantsto wish her away – to will her away from this prison. Tension radiates likeheat from Vera’s body. Alone, under the cover of night, she approaches the unitwith a letter in hand. Addressed to Shayne Riley and scribbled with a no. 2pencil, the letter has a weight to it. It crumbles within Vera’s grasp. The dimlighting of the isolation unit gives her a waxen complexion. She feels the tugin her chest, her heart, her soul. And realizes that the feeling is still there.
There is something refined yet syntheticabout Joan. Some things remain constant: Joan is always pale, Joan is alwaysscheming. Her vantablack hair greys at an alarming rate. Her mane falls intoher face like some god-awful fury. She plans her revenge. Plays the long gameand patiently awaits the opportune moment to dismantle Vera Bennett.
Fromprofound misunderstandings, they invented stories: always a matter of who hurtwho. The riot, siding with Westfall { re: Westnull }, disappoinTment, Jianna’sghost. Neither woman can skirt around the fact that they’re inherently flawed. Allthis collateral damage resembles a haphazard rollercoaster ride. She hides thehurt and lets it manifest as something new. Through the anger, she still lovesher.
“Youcan be so cruel,” Vera says and the words shine in her eyes like cutdiamonds.
Vera feignsdisinterest, holding up the letter before ripping it to shreds. She does it toelicit some reaction – any emotion – out of Joan. It’s akin to prodding ahornet’s nest or cutting yourself in the deep, blue sea where a great whitecatches a trace. Vera maintains that glare though her insides twist and she wantsto vomit. The fragments fall to the ground like snow. Joan stands. Her shadow packsa punch, dragging across the smaller woman.
“You’llregret that.” Joan hisses with acidity infecting her once dulcet voice.
“Youcan’t touch me,” Vera counters. She buries her hands into her pockets to hidethe way they tremble. Things will escalate: Joan will be put in Proctor’s unit,Joan will try to kill Bea, Joan will succeed, and then what? The documentensuring protective custody will be neglected for the long game they both play.
You didn’t think you administered her deathsentence.
Warpedand twisted, that’s the danger of falling in love with a switchblade. Fucked uppeople do fucked up things, Vera isn’t expelled from the fact. Maybe she wantsto keep Ferguson with her, by her side, either as a reminder of better days, aspenitence, or as a reminder of the profound depth to their relationship.
Verachooses not to dwell on it, not now. Joan won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. She walks away. Leaves her in the dark.
          She calls it love.

14th May >> Fr Martin's Gospel Reflections / Homilies on John 15:9-17 for the  Feast of Saint Matthias, Apostle: ‘Love one another, as I have loved you’.
Feast of Saint Matthias, Apostle.
Gospel (Europe, Africa, New Zealand, Australia & Canada)
John 15:9-17
You are my friends if you do what I command you
Jesus said to his disciples:
‘As the Father has loved me,
so I have loved you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments
you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love.
I have told you this
so that my own joy may be in you
and your joy be complete.
This is my commandment:
love one another, as I have loved you.
A man can have no greater love
than to lay down his life for his friends.
You are my friends,
if you do what I command you.
I shall not call you servants any more,
because a servant does not know
his master’s business;
I call you friends,
because I have made known to you
everything I have learnt from my Father.
You did not choose me:
no, I chose you;
and I commissioned you
to go out and to bear fruit,
fruit that will last;
and then the Father will give you
anything you ask him in my name.
What I command you
is to love one another.’
Gospel (USA)
John 15:9-17
It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you.
Jesus said to his disciples: “As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.
“I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete. This is my commandment: love one another as I love you. No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you. I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father. It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you. This I command you:  love one another.”
Reflections (5)
(i) Feast of Saint Matthias, Apostle
In today’s first reading, the early church meets to find a replacement for Judas, so that the group of twelve can be restored to its integrity. They engage in a process of discernment. They must select from among those who were with Jesus from the time of his baptism in the river Jordan to the time of his ascension into heaven. Having decided on two candidates, they bring both to the Lord in prayer, and they invite the Lord to show them which of the two he has chosen. As a result, Matthias came to replace Judas. The discernment process involved both work and prayer. The members of the early church in making this important decision didn’t leave everything to the Lord and, at the same time, they didn’t take the whole process upon themselves alone. Their efforts to find a replacement for Judas were important, but the fruit of those efforts needed to be brought to prayer so that the Lord could have the final and most important say. Saint Augustine once wrote, ‘pray as though everything depended on God. Work as though everything depended on you’. This two-fold movement of prayer and work is reflected in today’s gospel. Jesus calls on us to remain in his love. The Lord’s love for us is primary; we are to remain in that love, receiving it, welcoming it. This is the movement of prayer. Having remained in the Lord’s love for us, we then go out and bear fruit that will last, by loving one another as the Lord has loved us. This is the work of love that we are to engage in. Yet, it is significant that Jesus first calls on us to remain in his love before calling on us to love one another as he has loved one. Our prayerful openness to the Lord’s love is the foundation for the work of loving others as the Lord has loved us.

(ii) Feast of Saint Matthias, Apostle
After Judas had betrayed Jesus, the twelve apostles that Jesus chose had been reduced to eleven. It was important to preserve the number twelve because that number had great significance. There were twelve tribes of Israel and the twelve whom Jesus selected were the nucleus of the new Israel, the new people of God that would consist of Jews and non-Jews. Matthias was the one chosen to replace Judas and to maintain the integrity of the original twelve. Whereas Jesus chose the original twelve, it was up to the first disciples, the very early church, to choose a replacement for Judas. It is interesting to see how they went about it. They understood that this person would have to be someone who was a witness to the public ministry of Jesus from the time of his baptism until the time of the ascension. Having nominated two suitable people from among the larger body of disciples they prayed asking the Lord to show them which of the two he had chosen. There is an interesting mixture there of human judgement and prayer. Those early disciples had to use their own gifts of judgement and discernment but they also realized that they needed to pray, to ask the Lord for his enlightenment. In our own lives we also need both. We have to use whatever gifts and experience the Lord has given us to see the next step we have to take; more fundamentally we have to entrust ourselves to the Lord in prayer and ask him to enlighten our natural abilities.
And/Or
(iii) Feast of St Matthias, Apostle
When the first disciples were looking for a replacement for Judas, they had one primary criterion. It had to be someone who had been with Jesus and his first followers from the time when Jesus was baptizing until the day he was taken up into heaven. Presence to Jesus during the course of his public life was the necessary requirement. In the gospel reading this morning Jesus speaks as one who will soon be taken from his disciples by death. Yet, he reassures them that his going from them will not be the end of his presence to them or theirs to him. He invites them and, through them, all of us, to remain in his love. His love for them and for us remains; his loving presence to us remains; it endures. Our calling is to remain in that love, to stay in that love as Jesus stays with us in his love. Jesus makes the wonderful promise in that reading that if we remain in his love, as he remains with us, then his own joy will be in us and our joy will be complete. How do we remain in his love? We do so by loving one another as he has loved and continues to love us. That is what the calling to remain in his love amounts to, and that is the path to true joy and peace.
And/Or
(iv) Feast of Saint Matthias, Apostle
On this feast of Saint Matthias, the two readings are linked by the use of the verb ‘to chose’. In the first reading, the early disciples gather to complete the number of the twelve apostles after the betrayal and death of Judas. Having nominated two candidates, Barsabbas and Matthias, they turn in prayer to the Lord and ask him, ‘show us which of these two you have chosen to take over this ministry and apostolate, which Judas abandoned’. They used their judgement to narrow the field down to two, but they needed the Lord’s guidance to make the final choice. They wanted their choice to be in harmony with the Lord’s choice. Their question was not just ‘Who should we choose?’ but ‘Who is the Lord choosing?’ In the gospel reading, Jesus says to his disciples, ‘You did not choose me, but I chose you and I commissioned you to go out and to bear fruit’. Again the Lord’s choice of his disciples takes priority over their choice of him. What Jesus says to his disciples there, he says to all of us, ‘I chose you’. The Lord’s choice of us is prior to all else. Yes, we have to choose the Lord for ourselves, but our choice of the Lord is always in response to his choice of us. To express it in another way, the Lord is always seeking us out, and our seeking of him is a response to his seeking us. The Lord loves us first and our love of him is in response to his love of us. The Lord’s initiative towards us is there before our initiative towards him. In our dealings with each other, we may choose someone as a friend, but we cannot be sure that they will choose us. However, in our dealings with the Lord, we know that the Lord has already chosen us as a friend, ‘I call you friends’, he says to his disciples. He cannot be sure that we will choose him as he has chosen us, but he earnestly desires us to do so.
And/Or
(v) Feast of Saint Matthias, Apostle
According to this morning’s first reading, after Judas’ betrayal of Jesus and his subsequent suicide, the early church wanted to find a replacement for Judas so as to restore the group of the twelve to its full complement. A certain amount of human effort was put into finding such a person. First of all, Peter addressed the community of faith about the need to choose a replacement for Judas. Then the community had to discern who might be the best candidates and two suitable candidates were put forward. However, they wanted to ensure that their final choice corresponded with the Lord’s choice. As a result, they brought the fruits of their human efforts to prayer, and they asked the Lord, ‘Lord, show us which of these two you have chosen to take over this ministry’. It was only after that prayerful search of the Lord’s choice that they felt ready to nominate Matthias to replace Judas. The early church recognized that the person to replace Judas had to be the Lord’s choice. In this morning’s gospel reading, Jesus says to his disciples, ‘You did not choose me; no, I chose you’. The question, ‘What is the Lord’s choice?’ What does the Lord want?’ remains an important one for us today. We can easily fire ahead in a certain direction without asking that question. Asking that question inevitably brings us to prayer. In prayer we ask the Lord to guide and direct us in our choosing; we invite him to show us his choice. Jesus himself prayed this kind of prayer when, in the Garden of Gethsemane, he prayer, ‘Not my will but yours be done’. It is a type of prayer that he would encourage us all to enter into.

Second Sunday of Epiphany- Jan 13
This past Sunday we celebrated the Second Sunday of Epiphany and Pastor Lindi taught from two of this week’s passages- Isaiah 43:1-7 and Luke 4:21-22. There are many parallels between these two passages including the affirmation of identity (“I formed you, I called you by name” and “You are my Son”), the image of water (“pass through the waters/rivers” and “Jordan River”), the image of fire (“walk through fire” and “He will baptize you with… fire”) and people gathering together (“from north, south, east, west” and “all the people were baptized”).
Taken together we discover that the Lord’s declaration at Jesus’ baptism- “This is my Son, my Beloved. With him I am well pleased”- is meant to be declared over us as well. Dare we embark into this hopefully scandalous, radically inclusive proclamation of our identity as God’s children? When we do we discover how all of who we are is centered around knowing and experiencing that we are the Father’s Beloved; and we are indeed chosen.
Henri Nouwen’s book Life of the Beloved captures this identity beautifully. Nouwen writes, “Becoming the Beloved means letting the truth of our Belovedness become enfleshed in everything we think, say, or do.” This has profound impact on how we view and relate to others. “When we… constantly reclaim the truth of being the chosen ones, we soon discover within ourselves a deep desire to reveal to others their own chosenness.. That is the great joy of being chosen: the discovery that others are chosen as well.”
Throughout this week reflect on a time when you felt like God’s Beloved. If you’ve never felt that, then take time to ask God to reveal this identity to you. Let us all focus on Nouwen’s words below, a “Prayer of the Beloved.”
“Every time you feel hurt, offended, or rejected, you have to dare to say to yourself: “These feelings, strong as they may be, are not telling me the truth about myself. The truth, even though I cannot feel it right now, is that I am the chosen child of God, precious in God’s eyes, called the Beloved from all eternity, and held safe in an everlasting embrace.”
Hear God declaring to you, “You are my beloved child. With you I am well pleased.”

THE PROPHECY OF Habacuc or Habakkuk - From The Latin Vulgate Bible
Chapter 3
INTRODUCTION.
Habacuc was a native of Bezocher, and prophesied in Juda some time before the invasion of the Chaldeans, which he foretold. He lived to see this prophecy fulfilled, and for many years after, according to the general opinion, which supposes him to be the same that was brought by the angel to Daniel, in Babylon, Daniel xvi. (Challoner) --- He might very well live to see the captives return, as only sixty-six years elapsed from the first of Joakim, when he began to prophesy, till that event. He retired at the approach of the Chaldeans, and afterwards employed himself in agricultural pursuits. (Calmet) --- The sins of Juda, the coming of the Chaldeans, and the relaxation of the captivity are specified; and in the canticle, the appearance of Christ, the last judgment and eternity, (Worthington) are mentioned in the most sublime style. (Haydock)
Chapter 3
1 A PRAYER OF HABACUC, THE PROPHET, FOR IGNORANCES.
Notes & Commentary:
Ver. 1. For ignorances. That is, for the sins of his people. In the Hebrew it is shignoth: which some take to signify a musical instrument, or tune, with which this sublime prayer and canticle was to be sung. (Challoner) --- The term is omitted in several Latin manuscripts. The precise import cannot be ascertained; yet it seems to imply a song of comfort. (Calmet) --- Septuagint, "with a canticle." (Haydock) --- St. Jerome follows Aquila and Symmachus, and the 5th edition. Theodotion has, "for voluntary" transgressions. (Calmet) --- All sins proceed in some degree from ignorance, (Worthington) and are all the effects of free-will. (Haydock) --- The prophet prays to be freed from sin, and foretells the coming of Christ, &c. (Worthington) --- The Fathers apply this canticle to Him, as the Church herself does in her office. We cannot go astray, following such guides. Yet some think that an allusion is made to the return from captivity, and from Egypt, which were noble figures of the world's redemption. The prophet concludes with adoring the ways of God, (Calmet) which at first he had not comprehended. (Haydock) --- He is astonished at God's mercy, in becoming incarnate for man's sake. (Worthington)
2 O Lord, I have heard thy hearing, and was afraid.
O Lord, thy work, in the midst of the years bring it to life:
In the midst of the years thou shalt make it known: when thou art angry, thou wilt remember mercy.
Ver. 2. Thy hearing, &c. That is, thy oracles, the great and wonderful things thou hast revealed to me: and I was struck with a reverential fear and awe. (Challoner) --- I saw that the unjust would not escape. (Calmet) --- Work. The great work of the redemption of man, which thou wilt bring to life and light in the midst of the years, when our calamities and miseries shall be at their height. (Challoner) --- Years, at the time appointed. (Worthington) --- Septuagint read, "Lord, I considered thy works, and was astonished; in the midst of two living creatures, or lives, thou shalt be known," (Haydock) or found, between an ox and an ass, as the Church has it. (Nat. and Circumc.[Nativity and Circumcision?]) (Worthington) --- Christ appeared when the world was most dissolute. (Menochius) --- The tradition of two animals being near the crib where he was born, is not of earlier date than about the fifth century. Some explain this of the Father between the Son and the Holy Ghost; others of Christ between the thieves, or the two testaments, or collecting his Church from Jews and Gentiles, &c. (Sanct.; Calmet) --- Moderns agree with St. Jerome's version. The prophet begs that God would perform his ancient miracles in his days, (Calmet) by relieving the captives, as he had formerly delivered their ancestors. (Haydock) --- Make. Hebrew and Septuagint, "when the years approach, thou shalt be made known; when the time shall come, thou shalt be manifested; when my soul shall be troubled, in wrath thou," &c. (Haydock) --- God never shuts the gate of mercy to the penitent, Nahum i. 3. (Calmet)
3 God will come from the south, and the holy one from Mount Pharan:
His glory covered the heavens, and the earth is full of his praise.
Ver. 3. South. God himself will come to give us his law, and to conduct us into the true land of promise: as heretofore he came from the south, (in the Hebrew Teman) and from Mount Pharan, to give his law to his people in the desert. See Deuteronomy xxxiii. 2. (Challoner) --- Septuagint render, "the shady and thick mount, Diapsalma." St. Jerome, Pharan semper. Hebrew, Sela, Psalm ix. (Worthington) --- The term seems to denote a pause. There might be many in the same canticle, (Calmet) as we find three here, (ver. 9, 13) and many placed at irregular distances in the Psalms. (Haydock) --- The Hebrews had long sojourned in the Stony Arabia, under the guidance of the Lord. We should render in the past time to ver. 16. (Calmet). --- Christ was born (Haydock) at Bethlehem, to the south of Jerusalem, (Worthington) and had given the law, as a Jew interpreted this passage to St. Jerome. He was probably a convert. (Haydock)
4 His brightness shall be as the light: horns are in his hands:
There is his strength hid:
Ver. 4. Horns, &c. That is, strength and power, which by a Hebrew phrase are called horns: or beams of light, which come forth from his hands: or it may allude to the cross, in the horns of which the hands of Christ were fastened, where his strength was hidden, by which he overcame the world, and drove out death and the devil. (Challoner) --- Horns may also designate the nails, the prints of which remained in our Saviour's hands after his glorious resurrection. (Haydock) --- God appeared hurling his thunderbolts (ver. 11., and Psalm xvii. 16.; Calmet) with a fiery law in his right hand, all shining with glory, Exodus xix. 18., and xxxiv. 29., and Deuteronomy v. 22. (Haydock) --- Sinai seemed to be all on fire. Nothing can resist lightning. (Calmet). --- Fulmine terres. (Virgil, Æneid i.) --- Hid, Septuagint, "and he has placed the strong love of his power," (Haydock) Jesus Christ, who has given his life for us. (Calmet)
5 Death shall go before his face.
And the devil shall go forth before his feet.
Ver. 5. Death, &c. Both death and the devil shall be the executioners of his justice against his enemies; as they were heretofore against the Egyptians and Chanaanites. (Challoner) --- Hebrew daber, (Haydock) according to the different pronunciation, is rendered "the word" by the Septuagint and Theo.[Theodotion?]; "the plague," by Aquila, &c. After Christ was baptized, the devil came to tempt him. (St. Jerome) --- Devil. Hebrew resheph, (Haydock) or "bird," (Symmachus, &c.) means "creeping on the belly," as is explained by the Jews of the devil, who tempted our first parents. (St. Jerome) --- Moderns (Haydock) follow the Chaldean and understand the carbuncle. (Calmet) --- Protestants, "burning coals:" marg.[marginal note,] "diseases," (Haydock) resembling the pestilence. God destroyed his enemies and the murmuring Hebrews. (Calmet) --- Septuagint, "and it (the word) shall go out into the fields behind his feet." God's will shall be published in the field of the world, (Haydock) when the gospel shall be preached to the Gentiles.
6 He stood and measured the earth.
He beheld, and melted the nations: and the ancient mountains were crushed to pieces.
The hills of the world were bowed down by the journies of his eternity.
Ver. 6. Measured. Septuagint, "the earth was troubled," (Calmet) or shaken. (Haydock) --- He beheld. One look of his eye is enough to melt all the nations, and to reduce them to nothing. For all heaven and earth disappear when they come before his light, Apocalypse xx. 11. (Challoner) --- The Chanaanites were dismayed at the approach of God's people. He routed the nations, and determined the portion which he had chosen for Israel, Josue ii. 9. (Calmet) --- Mountains. By the mountains and hills are signified the great ones of the world, that persecute the Church, whose power was quickly crushed by the Almighty. (Challoner) --- The roughest roads in the wilderness were made smooth. God is poetically described at the head of his people, Deuteronomy viii. 4., and xxxiii. 15., and Psalm lxxv. 5. (Calmet)
7 I saw the tents of Ethiopia for their iniquity, the curtains of the land of Madian shall be troubled.
Ver. 7. Ethiopia, the land of the Blacks, and Madian, are here taken for the enemies of God and his people, who shall perish for their iniquity. (Challoner) --- Chus peopled that part of Arabia. (Haydock) --- Hebrew has Chusan, perhaps to rhyme with Madian; though some think that Chusan (defeated by Othoniel) and Madian (over whom Gedeon gained a complete victory) are designated, Judges ii and vi. When the Hebrews had crossed the Red Sea, the Arabs and Madianites removed their tents in great trepidation. (Calmet) --- These nations dwelt chiefly under tents, or skins, which would be removed in time of war. (Worthington)
8 Wast thou angry, O Lord, with the rivers? or was thy wrath upon the rivers? or thy indignation in the sea?
Who wilt ride upon thy horses: and thy chariots are salvation.
Ver. 8. With the rivers, &c. He alludes to the wonders wrought heretofore by the Lord in favour of his people Israel, when the waters of the rivers, viz., of Arnon and Jordan, and of the Red Sea, retired before their face; when he came as it were with his horses and chariots to save them; when he took up his bow for their defence, in consequence of the oath he had made to their tribes; when the mountains trembled, and the deep stood with its waves raised up in a heap, as with hands lifted up to heaven; when the sun and moon stood still at his command, &c., to comply with his anger, not against the rivers and sea, but against the enemies of his people. How much more will he do in favour of his Son, and against the enemies of his Church? (Challoner) --- Horses: the ark of the covenant. (Calmet)
9 Thou wilt surely take up thy bow: according to the oaths which thou hast spoken to the tribes.
Thou wilt divide the rivers of the earth.
Ver. 9. Take. Septuagint bend thy bow over the sceptres, says the Lord, Diapsalma." Sela is neglected by the Vulgate or (Haydock) by S. Jerome, as having no meaning. (Calmet) --- Yet we find in the edition of his works he renders it, for ever; and here observes, that the Lord "always dwells with his saints," and attacks vices by their mouths. --- Rivers. Septuagint, "the earth shall be cut by rivers." (Haydock) --- Greek historians mention several rivers which have appeared or ceased to flow in consequence of earthquakes. The apostles, moved by Christ, water the world and form the Church. (St. Jerome)
10 The mountains saw thee, and were grieved: the great body of waters passed away.
The deep put forth its voice: the deep lifted up its hands.
Ver. 10. Grieved. They seemed full of surprise, as in labour, (Hebrew) and the abyss spoke in its manner, (Calmet) obeying thy voice, and letting the Israelites pass. (Haydock; Psalm lxxiii. 15., and cxiii. 3., and Numbers xxi. 13.; Calmet) --- "Earth, sea, and rocks quake at the sight of God." (Æschyl.) (Haydock) --- Septuagint are obscure, (Calmet) "Peoples shall behold thee, and grieve, (or be in labour: odinesousi has both meanings; St. Jerome) dividing the waters of the passage, the abyss," &c. Other copies read, "Thou, Lord, wilt divide," which S. Jerome explains of heresies, which soon disappear. (Haydock)
11 The sun and the moon stood still in their habitation, in the light of thy arrows, they shall go in the brightness of thy glittering spear.
Ver. 11. Go. The five kings shall flee at the descent of Bethoron; or the heavenly body shall proceed at thy command, at the signal given by thunder, Josue x. 11.
12 In thy anger thou wilt tread the earth under foot: in thy wrath thou wilt astonish the nations.
Ver. 12. No explanation given.
13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people: for salvation with thy Christ.
Thou struckest the head of the house of the wicked: thou hast laid bare his foundation even to the neck.
Ver. 13. Christ. This may well be explained of the incarnation. God was touched at the miseries of his people, and rescued them by Moses. (Calmet) --- Theodotion and Symmachus, "Ebionite, half Christians," give a Jewish interpretation, "to save thy Christ." Aquila, though a Jew, and the 5th edition agree with us; but the 6th edition best explains the mystery, "through Jesus, thy Christ." (St. Jerome) --- Head, &c. Such was Pharao heretofore; such shall antichrist be hereafter. (Challoner) --- It may also be understood of Nabuchodonosor and of all persecutors. (Haydock) --- Cyrus cut off Baltassar; Christ will destroy antichrist, (2 Thessalonians ii.; Menochius) the head of the wicked congregation, Isaias xi. 4. (Worthington) --- Neck, or root. Pharao's eldest son perished, Exodus xiv. 17. (Calmet)
14 Thou hast cursed his sceptres, the head of his warriors, them that came out as a whirlwind to scatter me.
Their joy was like that of him that devoureth the poor man in secret.
Ver. 14. Sceptres. The nobles were drowned (Haydock) with their king, (Calmet) when they expected an easy prey, Exodus xiii. 9. (Haydock) --- Hebrew, "thou hast pierced the chief of their troops in the midst of tribes," or sticks, as the Egyptians perhaps slew each other. (Calmet)
15 Thou madest a way in the sea for thy horses, in the mud of many waters.
Ver. 15. Sea, &c., to deliver thy people from the Egyptian bondage; and thou shalt work the like wonders, in the spiritual way, to rescue the children of thy Church from their enemies. (Challoner) --- The waters stood up like mountains, while God seemed to pass in his triumphal car. (Calmet)
16 I have heard, and my bowels were troubled: my lips trembled at the voice.
Let rottenness enter into my bones, and swarm under me.
That I may rest in the day of tribulation: that I may go up to our people that are girded.
Ver. 16. I have heard, &c., viz., the evils that are now coming upon the Israelites for their sins; and that shall come hereafter upon all impenitent sinners: and the foresight that I have of these miseries makes me willing to die, that I may be at rest, before this general tribulation comes, in which all good things shall be withdrawn from the wicked. (Challoner) --- The five woes denounced [in] chap. ii. make the deepest impression upon me. (Haydock) --- I fear lest I should sin. (St. Jerome) --- The thought of so many wonders makes me speechless. (Calmet) --- Me. Let me find rest in the grave, like Job. (Haydock) --- I trust that God will raise me up. (Calmet) --- Hebrew, "rottenness hath entered,....and I trembled in myself." Septuagint, (15) "horses, troubling many waters: (16) I watched, and my belly was filled with fear at the voice of the prayer of my lips, and trembling entered my bones, and under me my strength (or frame, exis; some read ischus) was troubled. I shall rest in the day of my tribulation, to go up to the people of my parish," or neighbourhood; paroikias. (Haydock) --- People, &c. That I may join the happy company in the bosom of Abraham, that are girded; that is, prepared for their journey, by which they shall attend their Lord, when he shall ascend into heaven. To which high and happy place, my Jesus, that is, my Saviour, the great conqueror of death and hell, shall one day conduct me rejoicing and singing psalms of praise, ver. 18., and 19. (Challoner) --- Girded. Hebrew, "transmigration or desolation." Habacuc was mercifully allowed by Providence to dwell in Juda, when almost all were led away. He was transported through the air to feed Daniel, (Daniel xiv. 32.) where he might see his brethren, as he here insinuates, having relied on God's mercy, ver. 2. (Calmet) --- Protestants, "when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops; (marginal note, "cut them in pieces") 17. Although the," &c. When all shall be ravaged, I will still hope. (Haydock) --- All must be patiently endured, that we may rest at last. (Worthington)
17 For the fig-tree shall not blossom: and there shall be no spring in the vines. The labour of the olive-tree shall fail: and the fields shall yield no food: the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls.
Ver. 17. Fail. Literally, "lie," (Haydock) or frustrate our expectations. (Calmet) --- Spem mentita seges. (Horace i. ep. 7.) --- Fold. Septuagint, "food."
18 But I will rejoice in the Lord: and I will joy in God, my Jesus.
Ver. 18. Jesus. Hebrew yishi, "my (Haydock) salvation." (Calmet) --- Septuagint, "saviour." Chaldean, "redeemer." (Haydock) --- Jesus was the desire of all nations, and he imparts true joy to the faithful, John viii. 56. (Calmet) --- At the last day, plagues similar to those of Egypt will occur; but the elect shall rejoice. (St. Jerome)
19 The Lord God is my strength: and he will make my feet like the feet of harts: and he the conqueror will lead me upon my high places singing psalms.
Ver. 19. Places. I shall escape the fury of the Chaldeans, and sing a hymn of thanksgiving. (Calmet) --- "The conqueror singing psalms" may be unconnected with the rest, (Haydock) and designed to shew that the hymn was intended for religious meetings. It may signify, "To the chief over the female musicians." (Calmet) --- Lamnatseach binginothai. Protestants, "to the chief singer on my stringed instruments:" marginal note, "Neginoth." Septuagint, "He will order my feet unto perfection. He will establish me upon the heights, to gain the victory in his canticle." (Haydock) --- I shall exchange my former complaints for songs of praise, and be crowned by Jesus. (St. Jerome)

The sound of boiling water soon begins to fill the vast room of Leona’s kitchen-dining area. The Solari Commander is wearing her simple leathers, with her Ra’horak belt strapped to her waist and simple golden bracelets around her arms. She’s dressed for an evening inside, and still sore from a day full of wearing her armor. She grabs the tea basket and puts it down on the kitchen island where Adriel is sitting, urging them to find a flavor they’d like.
“    I just had a delivery of Ionian herbal tea, they’re in the blue bag if you want to try one of them.    ”    Leona brings their mugs over and places one down in front of her friend, taking the other for herself as she sits down across from them.    “    Caelia told me about what happened today. Are you alright? You needn’t try to rescue her so often, she can take care of herself.    ”

“Mr. Penguin?” Firefly is bored. Working as security for Oswald does at least provide her with room and board, as well as money to burn, no pun intended. But it also caused her to sometimes need to act more like a nanny than a bodyguard. “You’ve been glaring at frozen Mr. Nygma for three hours. Maybe you should take a break?”

30th August >> Pope Francis' complete English translation of italian catechesis. “Do you have in your heart the wind of joy?” ~ Catechesis on Memory, Hope and Vocation (translation) Pope Francis continued his catechesis on Hope during his Wednesday General Audience, August 30, 2017 in St. Peter’s Square. Challenging especially the young, he said all must answer the question: “Do I have in me, in my heart, the wind of joy?” He used the example of Jesus’s call to the first disciples and how that call to vocation involved hope and memory. He noted that one disciple – John – recalled the exact time, even in his old age, “a clear memory of youth, which remained intact in his memory as an elderly man.” The Pope echoed the questions Jesus asked the first disciples: “You, who are young, what do you seek? In your heart, what do you seek?” He said that young people who seek nothing “are not young people; they are retired, they have grown old before the time.” There are many ways to discover a vocation, according to the Pope. But he said that “every vocation begins with an encounter with Jesus who gives us a new joy and hope.” This applies to marriage, consecrated life, and the priesthood, and leads us, also through trials and difficulties, to an “ever fuller encounter, that encounter grows greater; the encounter with Him and to the fullness of joy. “ Below, please find Zenit's full English translation of Pope Francis’ italian catechesis. Catechesis on Hope and Memory Today I would like to return to a very important topic: the relation between hope and memory, with particular reference to the memory of a vocation. And I take as an example Jesus’ call to the first disciples. This experience remained so imprinted in their memory, that one of them even made a note of the hour: “for it was about the tenth hour” (John 1:39). The evangelist John recounts the episode as a clear memory of youth, which remained intact in his memory as an elderly man, because John wrote these things when he was already elderly. The meeting happened near the river Jordan, where John the Baptist was baptizing; and those young Galileans had chosen the Baptist as spiritual guide. One day Jesus came, and had Himself baptized in the river. He went there again the next day, and then the Baptizer, that is, John the Baptist said to two of his disciples, “Behold the Lamb of God!” (v. 36). It was a “spark” for those two. They left their first teacher and went to follow Jesus. On the way, He turned to them and asked the decisive question: “What do you seek?” (v. 38). Jesus appears in the Gospels as an expert of the human heart. At that moment He had met two youths who were seeking, healthily restless. In fact, what youth is a satisfied youth without a question of meaning? Young people who don’t seek anything are not young people; they are retired, they have grown old before the time. It’s sad to see young people in retirement. And Jesus, throughout the Gospel, in all the meetings that happen to Him along the way, appears as an “ignitor” of hearts. Hence His question seeks to have the desire emerge for life and of happiness that every youth bears inside: “What do you seek?” I would also like to ask the young people who are here in the Square today, and those listening through the media: “You, who are young, what do you seek? In your heart, what do you seek?” John’s and Andrew’s vocation began thus. It was the beginning of such a strong friendship with Jesus as to impose a commonality of life and of passions with Him. The two disciples begin to be with Jesus and are transformed immediately into missionaries, because when the meeting ends they don’t return home calmly: so true is this that their respective brothers – Simon and James – are soon involved in the following. They went to them and said: We have found the Messiah; we have found a great prophet”: they gave the news. They are missionaries of that encounter. It was such a touching, happy encounter that the disciples would remember for ever that day that illumined and oriented their youth. How does one discover one’s vocation in this world? It can be discovered in many ways, but this page of the Gospel tells us that the first indication is the joy of the encounter with Jesus. Marriage, consecrated life, priesthood: every vocation begins with an encounter with Jesus who gives us a new joy and hope and leads us, also through trials and difficulties, to an ever fuller encounter, that encounter grows greater; the encounter with Him and to the fullness of joy. The Lord doesn’t want reluctant men and women walking behind Him, without having in their heart the wind of joy. You, who are in the Square, I ask you – each one answer to himself – do you have in your heart the wind of joy? Each one should ask himself: “Do I have in me, in my heart, the wind of joy?” Jesus wants people who have experienced that to be with Him giving an immense happiness, which can be renewed every day of life. A disciple of the Kingdom of God who isn’t joyous doesn’t evangelize this world; he is sad. We become preachers of Jesus not by sharpening the arms of rhetoric: you can talk, talk, talk but if there isn’t something else, how do we become preachers of Jesus? By keeping in our eyes the twinkle of true happiness. We see so many Christians, also among us, who with their eyes transmit to one the joy of the faith: with their eyes! Therefore, a Christian, as the Virgin Mary, protects the flame of his falling in love, in love with Jesus. Certainly, there are trials in life; there are moments in which one must go on despite the cold and adverse winds, despite much bitterness. But Christians know the way that leads to that sacred fire that lighted them once and for all. But please, I recommend: let us not heed disappointed and unhappy persons, let us not listen to one who recommends cynically not to cultivate hope in life; let us not trust one who extinguishes at birth every enthusiasm saying that no enterprise is worth the sacrifice of a whole life. We don’t listen to the “old” of heart who suffocate youthful euphoria. We go to the old who have eyes shining with hope! Instead, we cultivate healthy utopias: God want us capable of dreaming as He does and with Him, while we walk very attentive to the reality, to dream of a different world. And if a dream is extinguished, go back to dream it again, drawing with hope from the memory of the origins, of those embers that, perhaps after a not very good life, are hidden under the ashes of the first encounter with Jesus. Here then is a fundamental dynamic of Christian life: to remember Jesus. Paul said to his disciple: “Remember Jesus Christ” (2 Timothy 2:8); this is the advice of the great Saint Paul: “Remember Jesus Christ.” To remember Jesus, the fire of love with which one day we conceived our life as a project of goodness, and to revive our hope with this flame. © Zenit Translation by Virginia M. After a long day of walking around the market and discovering new places, Leona wanted nothing more than to laze about in Irelia’s quarters. So she did. While the aforementioned worked on her letters, Leona busied herself with doing absolutely nothing in bed. She was laying on her back, looking out the windows at the breathtaking beauty outside. Ionia truly was something for itself.
But, alas, one could only keep boredom at bay for so long. The Solari Commander stood up from her comfortable position and sauntered over to where her beloved was sitting. She put her hands down on the chair’s arm rest and leaned down over her shoulder before placing a small kiss to her cheek.    “    Is there any of this that can wait? I miss your company.    ”    She practically purred in Irelia’s ear. She knew she could be persuasive when she wanted to be, so she turned up the charm a little for the sake of gaining a bit more time with the woman she so adored.

My dearest Irelia
I finally have time to write you a letter. I am so sorry I haven’t been able to for a while, I know you have been very patient. I never once stopped thinking about you, and I miss you terribly. I hope the feeling is mutual, that you have not forgotten about me.
As I am writing this, I have just returned from a day’s worth of walking the mountainside. I accompanied the scouts in their mission today, along with some of my warriors. We saw great heights and I am rather impressed with the quality of some of the relics we found along the way. I believe some of them are of Lunari origin, even, and I have secured them so they will not be vandalized.
But I shan’t bore you with too many details of such endeavors. My life is exciting as ever, but it all pares in comparison to your company. When I said I missed you, it was an understatement. Irelia, if I could be by your side at all times I would be. You can rest assured I am working my hardest to find my way back to you as soon as possible.
What I miss the most is your touch, the softness of you hand in mine, and the way your eyes light up when you see me. The way you hold me close as if letting go means the end of the world. My dearest Irelia, you can not possibly know how much you mean to me. How happy you make me. But you do. You make me so happy my heart feels like it is about to burst.
When this letter reaches you, and I hope it does so in good health, I will likely be on my way to you. I will be there sooner than you know it, and I will tell you the rest in person. For now, take care of yourself so that we may meet again. So that I can be yours and you can be mine, just for a little while.
Leona pauses her writing for a moment, before she adds:
P.S. I found the perfume you like to wear, and I bought myself a bottle. It soothes me greatly whenever I wear it. I just thought you should know.
