Aranea has noticed before how Ignis has always been the one taking care of everyone, weither it’s with the food, the advice, even the car. It has made her wonder if he ever takes care of himself sometimes. Even when she was with Noctis and his friends, he was so kind to her, even considered her as an ally when the others didn’t. He’s blind now, though, and Aranea plans to help him however she can. It’s UNFAIR. She doesn’t know what happened, but if there’s one person in the entire world who didn’t deserve this, it was surely him.

“Try not to be too hard on yourself,” she warns, gently patting his arm as they’re walking back to the safe haven. Aranea accepted to accompany Ignis since he wants to fight again in that world of darkness, as long as he’s not reckless. “You did good today. You can’t take down a behemoth on your own, when you just started fighting again.”

Aranea can’t help but laugh at these words. She playfully pats his arm, keeping her usual smirk on her features. The truth is that she knows how messy she is, how she can change her mind in a very short period of time. She’s hard to follow most of the time, even for herself. But of course, it’s something she keeps to herself.

“I know,” she assures, chuckling a bit. “I’m a real pain in the ass, but at least, I’m gorgeous.”

Aranea feels like she needs to prove herself. Of course, she worked for Niflheim. And she doesn’t regret doing so because she learned quite a lot from them. Now, though, she’s a mercenary, and she’s doing her best to help everyone in Lucis. She wishes people would at least understand that, but on the other hand, she feels like she DESERVES the hate she’s getting. People can’t know she was an ally to Noctis and the others before she left.

She sees someone approaching the safe haven, but her eyes remain on the campfire. She’s not very good at talking nowadays, and most of the time, people don’t want her around at all.

Aranea needs a break much more than she wants to admit. She has spent the entire day slaying daemons, and she stops by Hammerhead because she’s been fighting in Leide region. She wonders about Biggs and Wedge. She’s not used to not have them around her, and as much as she hates to show she cares, it scares her every time she doesn’t have news from them.

She smirks at Cindy. “I’m never tired when I come back from daemon slaying.” She admits with a sigh. This, and because she WORRIES too much, but she keeps that thought to herself. “You want a drink ? No matter what you say, I’ll take a drink.” She admits, letting a brief chuckle escape her mouth.

It’s a late evening around. Aranea knows it, even if every day is darker than the one before. It’s good to slay daemons with Fang, though. The other is such a capable woman; they’re both so STRONG and make an incredible thing. They’re both very flirty, too, which means they have spent the entire day flirting. It makes everything more enjoyable, even in the darkest times.

It’s not exactly a surprise that they’re about to kiss. The problem is that, right at the moment it was supposed to happen, another hunter sit nearby at the safe haven. Why is the other this close to them, anyway ? Aranea smirks playfully then sighs. “I think we should go in our tent instead.” She suggests.

There are daemons everywhere these days, and Aranea understands why Ignis wants to keep fighting even if he’s now blind. He wants to be useful, giving the fact that Noctis disappeared with the crystal and that Ignis is his advisor. However, he’s being RECKLESS. She wishes he could see that. She wishes he would understand that he needs to be ready before he starts slaying daemons.

“You need to be more careful, Specs.” She says with a sigh. “And don’t tell me it’s okay because I’m here now. I know you’re even more reckless when I’m not around. If you get killed, it’s gonna be much worse.”

There are more and more daemons around these days. All Aranea can do is fighting, and keep fighting. It’s her way to REDEEM herself; she’s truly helping now, unlike she did before, back when she was still working for Niflheim. She’s on her way back to a safe haven, almost stopping for that night, when she notices someone fighting a behemoth. She quickly notices who it was, and even if she knows the other is a capable fighter, she decides to join her.

She takes her spear, then jumps on the huge beast. She smirks PLAYFULLY, her eyes remaining on the behemoth, though. “Long time no see.” She says as she’s preparing herself to strike one more time.

There are daemons everywhere. This mission wasn’t supposed to be this COMPLICATED. Aranea can take a behemoth on her own. However, there are other daemons all over the place. She still hasn’t reached the behemoth itself. It almost feels like they were waiting for her. But she can fight. She’s used to this. She has always fought.

She’s concentrated on her enemies when she hears Monica’s voice, though. She could tell her she doesn’t need a hand, but if they fight together, it’ll be better. She can’t exactly pretend otherwise. “I won’t complain.” She assures, smirking playfully at Monica before she quickly jumps one more time on a daemon.

Aranea smirks at these words. She can’t say she knows how to react at this, of course. She’s not used to kindness in general, and she doubts she can ever be someday. She’s been used to be SUSPICIOUS because people tried to manipulate her way too much in her past. She knows Nero is kind, of course, but will it be enough for her ?

“I don’t need protection, though.” She replies, half-teasing.

Aranea sighs. Of course she’s okay; she always is. She learned to ENDURE. She knows he’s asking to be kind, but she doesn’t need this... or she’s just not used to this at all, and she doesn’t know how to react to this. 

“I’m fine. You’re the one who’s bleeding right now.” She argues, still offering him a smirk, though. “Let me patch it, okay ?”

Aranea nodded. She had thought it would be the case, of course, but she still had needed to ask. She hated to show insecurities; it made her feel WEAK. But she was truly scared for Biggs and Wedge. What if they were in trouble ? There were more and more daemons with each passing day. What if something very bad had happened ?

“That’s what I thought. But thanks.” She replied, offering the other a brief smirk.

Aranea was sitting around the campfire. Everything was so messy nowadays; it had been years now. The world was becoming darker and darker, and there were more daemons and less hunters. She worried, all the time, about everyone. Sometimes, she thought it was what she deserved for having worked for the Empire for this long, and she HATED that thought. 

She couldn’t say she was surprised when Ignis joined her, though. He was so brave. Even if he was blind, he had learned to fight again, had learned to do so in a different way. It was RELIEVING to have him around, even if she would never admit such a thing.

“Don’t worry. I’m fine.” She assured with a pat on his arm. She had smirked, too, but because he couldn’t see her, she needed to make him understand she was. No, she wasn’t entirely fine, but she also didn’t feel too lonely, which made things better.

Aranea spent pretty much every day slaying daemons or trying recruits. There were more monsters around with each passing day, especially since the nights were now so long. She was on her way to a safe haven, trying to find some calm for the night, which was quite complicated because she had too much on her mind. Even if she didn’t want to show it, she worried about her recruits, and about Biggs and Wedge, too. She wished she could do more, and she wished people would stop seeing her as a former commodore of Niflheim Empire, since she was clearly on Lucis’ side.

When she arrived at the safe haven, she sighed: someone was there. She still sat around the fire, not too close to him. She wasn’t really the type to force a conversation. “Don’t mind me. I just needed somewhere to sleep for the night.” She said as her eyes remained on the fire.

There was SADNESS in Aranea’s features as she listened to Ignis talking. It was the first time she saw him in such a vulnerable state, but of course, it had to happen. So much had happened to the four men since they had left Insomnia, and it had become even worst since the events on Altissia.

The dragoon wasn’t food at comforting people in general. But she wanted to be there for him; she felt like if there was someone who deserved it, that was surely him. She gently put her hand over his arm, but remained silent for a short moment.

“Don’t speak this way.” She started, her voice being SOFTER than usual. “You’re probably the bravest man I know.” He was blind now, but she knew he would find a way to keep fighting. He couldn’t do otherwise. “You’re too hard on yourself. You can’t re-learn everything you knew in only a few weeks. But I know you will succeed. You just need to patient.”
