Analyzing The Abilities of Characters From The Boys Pt. X

Cate’s one of my favorite onscreen villains, seeing as how she takes the whole Queen of Mean trope and gives an audience something to worry about.

Cate’s ability is a tactile form of mind control, along with a seemingly unstable form of telepathy. While she can read minds, she seems to have difficulty fully controlling the individual thoughts she wants to pay attention to. I’m assuming this is from her relying on power suppressants which made her rusty at mind reading, especially since she seems to be off the pills and completely fine now.

I would imagine that at the point of the V in her system giving her this ability, she would have just been coming into her own as a woman in a world that tells young girls to hyper-obsess about their social impact on the world around them. Imagine if you shot a young Regina George up with Compound V. Wouldn’t having the ability to read the minds of her teenage subjects and force them to think, believe, and do whatever she wants by placing a guiding hand on their shoulder be a perfect mutation for her body to produce?

Having the ability to command people to do her dirty work based solely on touch, Cate relies on the fact that her beauty and unassuming nature would allow her to get close enough to touch any potential opponent. This way of thinking reminds me of Glimmer from “The Hunger Games”, seeing as how in the books, she attempted to sneak in a diamond ring that, upon unscrewing the jewel, revealed a poisoned spike. A weapon like that wielded in a battle royale style death match is unimaginably arrogant and short sighted. While it may seem cunning, her entire battle strategy hinged on her beauty and ability to draw close enough to another tribute while their guard was down to prick them with a mini spike. Cate, regardless of her own agency in the matter, shares a similar viewpoint. It wasn’t until Marie blew up her arm that she was forced to confront the fact that, when her reach is snubbed by a legitimately strong influence, she’s ultimately powerless.

The ultimate tragedy of her character is a lack of true intimacy. After she unwittingly compelled her little brother to disappear in a forest and “get lost”, to which his body was never found, her parents were horrified to do so much as touch their own daughter. When she was with Luke she repeatedly mind controlled him, and she ended up doing the same to Andre. Anyone and everyone she gets close to will inevitably fear that the ungloved intimacy they share with her is inauthentic, which creates a cruel cycle of her feeling the need to compel the people around her to forget all of the horrible things she’s done.

This is the exact play that Dean Shetty makes on her. Understanding and even aiding to curate Cate fears of her powers and whether the only reason people would ever love her is because she’s making them do so, Shetty is one of the few characters to consistently touch Cate. This shifts the dynamic between the two of them, and while it initially seemed to be done out of kindness, you very quickly understand that Shetty’s touch was equally manipulative as Cate’s.

Cate’s seemingly a pathological liar and manipulator, appearing unable to discern her own lies from Vought’s narrative. She’s both a pawn and a player, but I believe this next season will prove her to come out as a hero and unlikely ally to Marie and the true Guardians of Godolkin.

D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can't: I hear people talk about FrankenWolf (Ruby x Victor Whale) which does sound like a cool pairing in theory, but I just can't get over not really liking Victor that much, and pretty much finding him to be a jerk and a letch. Ruby is seriously such an awesome character that I want her to be with only the best significant other. ;P

K - What character has your favorite development arc/the best development arc?

I feel like it has to be Killian Jones here. <3 He certainly isn't the only character who goes through a LOT of pain and trauma, but he genuinely learns from where he has stumbled and what he has been through. He starts out so hopeful and innocent, as the young lieutenant hoping he and his older brother can earn glory for their family name, and he gives into the Darkness when he sees how cruel and unfair the world can truly be. He does become a villain, but it is never out of pointless cruelty or just to flaunt his power either. Killian's villain story makes sense, and you're never unable to sympathize or see where he's coming from and how he got there. And THEN! He puts in the work - plain and simple. He decides to be a part of something good, to find that honorable man inside himself, and he becomes a true hero. He accepts blame when he must, he makes amends to those he's wronged, and his courage and bravery are undeniable by the end. Of the show's numerous redemption arcs, Killian Jones is the one with the best, most clear, consistent development . It often seems like he has to redeem himself over and over again, but he does it, where so many of the others fail.

T - Do you have any hard and fast headcanons that you will die defending?

I'm really partial to the idea that Graham might have befriended Belle before the Dark Curse was cast, when she was Regina's prisoner in the castle tower and he was forced to be one of Regina's Black Knights because she had his heart. I like to think he might have snuck food or books to her when Regina wasn't looking, so that she had some sort of entertainment and didn't go crazy locked in there all alone. I would have loved to have seen them interact once the curse broke in Storybrooke and have had that story proven true...

I still believe it though, regardless. In my head, it definitely happened.

V- Which character do you relate to most? Probably Belle. I mean, she's always been my favorite princess, to start with. With her nose in the book and just her whole aspect really. I loved her portrayal on Once and thought Emilie DeRavin did a great job bringing her too life. They just should have given her more ventures and action with the heroes instead of tying her down to almost exclusively revolving herself around Rumple. Anyway, she's still the one I probably feel most like.

Drabble Challenge You’re breaking my heart, babe.

Takes place in the H&V. This was something different for me. The relationship isn’t the healthiest here.

Regina hadn’t wanted to help her. She knew that it could all be a trick. The Evil Queen-Snow White-wanted her heart as dust on the ground. Who could tell if this was real or just another clever way to get to her?

So, Regina took all the precautions she could. She wagered a protection spell with jewels she had stolen. It would guarantee that for a limited time, Snow could not have her heart.

When Regina was dragged by the dark knights to kneel before the Queen, she couldn’t help but stare at her expansive bossom. It seeped from her black gown, distracting the bandit from her words at first. The dark monotone soon captivated her eyes to Snow’s dark eyeliner.

“We have a common enemy,” Snow announced.

“We do?”

“My father.”

Regina shivered at the mention of Leopold. Her mother had married him after the death of her father. He had been nothing but abusive and cruel. She and Snow had once been close friends. Until Leopold tricked her into giving up James’ name and location. Now, Snow’s heart was dark and Regina lived as a bandit to escape her. Last she heard, Snow had forced her father out of the kingdom.

“I thought he was gone…”

“Well he’s not,” Snow snapped. “And I need you to help make sure he never comes back.”

“How?”

“You’re an expert with a bow. You tell me.”

Regina shook in place.

“You want me to kill him?”

“It’s the only way to guarantee he’ll never come back.”

“Snow…” The Queen gave her a sharp look. “Your Majesty. This won’t cure the pain implemented on your heart…”

“Maybe not, but it’ll be one less person to worry about.”

“If you want it done so badly, why don’t you do it yourself?”

Snow crossed the room to her, her eyes narrowing. “He’ll see me coming. He doesn’t know you’re a threat.”

“Your Majesty…”

“If you do this, the chase is done, you can come home.”

Regina’s lips trembled. She thought of nights braiding hair. Sleeping in each other’s beds. Their first kiss. Before Snow met James…

No, this had to be a trick.

“How do I know it’s real?” she whispered,feeling like a small child.

Snow gave her a faux frown. “Oh babe, you’re breaking my heart.”

She grasped Regina’s arms and pulled her up right. Snow’s pale fingers grazed Regina’s tanner skin, letting them dig in for a moment. She slowly leaned in and gave her a kiss. Regina allowed herself to give in. Her knees grew weak. Her stomach fluttered.

She wanted more.

Regina’s fingers moved to the back of Snow’s dress, only to have them pushed away.

“Nuh uh,” Snow whispered, her lips only inches from Regina’s face. “Not until you do as you’re told.” She gave her a dark, yet somehow loving girl. “So tell me Regina...can you be a bad girl?”

Regina found herself nodding. “Yes, your Majesty.”

RELUCTANT ALLIES – SENTENCE STARTERS

The annual masquerade at the Queen’s castle had quickly approached, and with it, a rare opportunity to set foot inside the castle’s halls without drawing much attention. If all went according to the plan, Regina could leave the castle with enough gold that would take her anywhere she desired! Far away from this kingdom, far away from Queen Snow White, and far away from this life. A fresh beginning where the bandit would no longer be on the run. Freedom had never been closer, it was just within grasp, and no one would be able to take it from her this time! No one but one.

“My petty grudge? How about your arrogance?” Regina grunted. “I don’t think you understand what this means to me, I need this! I don’t have the luxury of stealing for the poor, or whatever noble code you claim to follow. We are only doing this together so you won’t get in my way,” she clarified for the hundredth time. Robin Hood and his damned men always seemed to be up against her every heist! Regina was too damn tired of having to compete against them all the time. Especially now when she had the biggest opportunity right in front of her! Doing this together made sense - Robin and his men would take their part, she’d take hers, and once they’d all be safely outside, they would part ways and never have to see each other ever again. The one problem was that Regina stupidly agreed to go in there undercovered as Robin’s date, and that, along with her grudge against him, could only complicate things.

OUAT Thoughts Pt.18--Episodes 16-17

I have watched through S2E17; spoilers DNI. Also, spoiler warning for anyone further behind than I am.

—Kay, I love me some hurt/comfort as much as the next guy, but episode 16 was all hurt. No comfort at all. I rate my emotional agony as 1/10, would not recommend. (And it didn’t get much better in episode 17.)

—Mr. Gold actually apologized to his son. I’ve gotten so used to every character in all entertainment being “flawless” and thereby rude and uncompromising (and any other character accepting that for some reason) that I forgot people could be written who actually did apologize for doing something wrong.

—The name fading off the dagger as Mr. Gold was dying was horrible. Also, I should’ve known that candle would come back to haunt somebody.

—Oh, yes, a masquerade ball! I am feasting tonight!

—Also, Cora’s wedding dress was lovely. I would’ve liked it better if it was actually white, not ivory, but the decorations were stunning.

—It’s hilarious to me that the Charmings have absorbed Mr. Gold into the family *threateningly* Like, they probably wouldn’t invite him over for dinner, but they’ll haul him in for a favor.

—And it works the opposite way, too! Mr. Gold is all, “ew, get that kid away from me” until he can use that family connection to get a favor out of the Charmings.

—I really want to see a Thanksgiving dinner for this family. That’s gotta be the most dramatic meal ever held. Henry; his adopted mother (who wants to kill his grandma); his biological mother; his bio mom’s parents (who are the same age as his bio mom); his long-lost dad (who has issues with his own long-lost father); and his other grandpa (who just happens to be the most manipulative mind in the universe). Also, Snow is technically *also* Henry’s adopted stepsister, because her stepmom is Henry’s adopted mom. And that also makes Regina both Henry’s adopted mom and his step-great-grandmother. Sounds like a grand old time!

—It’s gonna be jolly awkward for Belle and Mr. Gold when she finds out that he’s not dead.

—But his little speech to her over the phone was beautiful. I particularly love that the first thing he said to her was not that he loved her, or that she loved him, but that she was a hero. That was what he thought was most important for her to know.

—It’s also fun (fun being a relative term) that Belle’s hospital gown is yellow.

—Right before I turned on episode 16, I remembered the original Rumplestiltskin story and freaked out. (I was actually at a library recently, and I found Grimm’s fairytales and read the Rumplestiltskin story for giggles. OUAT Rumplestiltskin is much better.) Anyway, it took me this long to remember that Cora was a miller’s daughter, and I should probably be worried about where her origin story would go.

—I was right. I should’ve been worried. Rump has just the worst taste in women—other than Belle. Mila was a loser and Cora was a jerk.

—As much as I hate Cora—which is a lot—I appreciate her last moments. She had her heart back, and she realized that if she’d had it the whole time, Regina would’ve been enough for her. That’s rather touching.

—But I’m still not upset that she’s dead.

—I’m not thrilled about how she died. I thought Snow killing her would bad enough, but she also manipulated Regina to make her give the final blow. That’s pretty terrible.

—Snow actually having been affected by killing someone is a good story element. I’m tired of heroes who kill the villain and then don’t show any remorse at all. Like, yeah, they’re bad, and the world is probably only safe if they’re dead, but the hero being emotionless about it says more about the hero than it does about the villain. I don’t think I could trust any person who wasn’t upset by having killed.

—It is now semi-plausible than Baelfire and Mr. Gold might eventually start to work on patching up their relationship. I’m down with that.

—Also, I noticed the description for the next episode (the one or two sentence one that appears next to it on Disney Plus) and I’m very happy. I’ve been waiting for some Pinocchio content for a while now. Maybe he’ll even get to see his father again.

—For a villain who plays it so close to the chest, Rump actually falls in love a lot. He gives away parts of his backstory a lot. And I think that’s good, compared especially to Cora. He’s a villain who still has a heart, which is a large part of why he is so compelling. His machinations would make him interesting, even if he didn’t have these heart-wrenching events spaced throughout his life that push him further and further into darkness, but it’s the fact that he has a heart to be wrenched that gives him life. It’s the reason I hope to see him redeemed at some point in the future. He is ultimately a good man who went down a very dark path, and those tiny glimpses into his inner workings keep it believable that he could be a good man again.

—Now that I’ve been a lil deep—I need to see more of Red. She appeared briefly in these episodes, but I’m pining for my pretty wolf girl. Also, I really, really, *really* want to see her in a red flannel again.

—I’m not looking forward to Snow falling into darkness. That is going to be thoroughly unpleasant for me.

—Regina is super creepy. Trying to arrest that dad so she could keep his kid was nuts.

—I almost forgot—I now know the connection between Cora and what’s-her-face. I’ve already forgotten her name. I can’t believe Snow’s mom used to be such a jerkwad.

The 100 Ask Game

I was tagged by the wonderful @thehundredtimesobsessed​ forever ago (or what feels like it, but I’m finally getting around to it today.

1. What Station on the Ark would you be from?

Probably Agro. My mom’s side of the family definitely has a green thumb.

2. What would you get arrested for on the Ark?

Umm...theft?

3. Would you take off your wristband when you landed on the ground?

No. No, I would not.

4. What would the Necklace Finn would make for you look like? (Clarke: deer/Raven: a raven duh…)

DRAGON!  Dragons are my favorite.  Followed by red pandas, but I feel like a dragon would be better (I already own a few dragon necklaces).

5. If you could resurrect any MINOR character who would it be?

Roan kom Azgeda - I miss him. <<< Same.  Possibly Wells, but I became much more attached to Roan (probably because he had more episodes)

6. Create a squad by of 5 characters to go on missions with. Who are they?

Bellamy, Clarke, Raven, Monty, and Murphy.  (This was basically pick your five favorite characters for me...)

7. What Grounder Clan would you belong to?

Podakru - the Lake People...I’m just going on that based on where I live, i.e. a place where there are lakes

8.  What would your name be in Trigedasleng? (example: Octavia=Okteivia…just make it up!)

Shilbi, I think that’s what they’d do with it.  I literally looked up to see if they even had a “sh” sound in their language; right when I was about to lose hope and resigning myself to “Silbi” or the like, I found a phrase with “sh”.

9. Thoughts on Finn? Some people hate him, and others love him, so I’m curious

I didn’t like him from the beginning. I didn’t hate him initially, but he got two people killed yet survived his own idiocy or taking off his seat belt. I thought he was going to be a detriment to their survival because he would take stupid unnecessary risks to show off.

10. Be honest. How willing would you have been to take the chip without knowing all the horrible things it does?

Probably not.  My dad yells and me and my mom because we always need answers to motivations and the why of things.  I don’t think I would put something in my body without fully knowing what it is and the ramifications of taking it.

11. What character do you relate to most?

I want to say Harper, but also some Clarke.  In Harper, I see a lot of the traits I like about myself; in Clarke, I see a lot of the traits I don’t like about myself.

12. What character do you like the least?

This is difficult...I feel like it’s a cop out to say one of the villains of the show, but it’d probably be Cage Wallace.  I don’t know who it’d be out of the people who are still alive.

13. Describe your delinquent outfit. (Would you wear something like Murphy’s jacket with the spikey red shoulder patch or have a trademark like Jasper’s goggles? Be creative, yet practical)

Charcoal grey jeans with a forest green v-neck t-shirt that has those criss-crossed strips of fabric, a dark brown leather jacket, and brown combat boots.

14. Favorite type of mutant animal?

...I don’t know...a mutant fox?

Yeah, I’d do what I have to.  Probably would be admiring the ceiling as I did it, but I’d do it.

17. If Lexa wasn’t Heda, but she was still alive then who would have made the best commander?

I don’t know.  I feel like it there was a more ruthless, battle ready heda, the 100 (and the rest of the Ark) would have been in a worse position.

Wait! An answer came to me when I was looking at question twenty:  Lincoln!  My friend and I liked to joke that Lincoln was one of the few characters with a head on his shoulders and realistic ideas and expectations for relations.

18. How would you act if you ate the hallucinogenic nuts like Jasper and Monty?

I’d probably just be giggling, at EVERYTHING.

19. How would you have dealt with Charlotte’s crime? A more John Murphy approach or Bellamy Blake approach?

Definitely a more Bellamy Blake approach.

20. Who should have been the Chancellor, if anyone?

Monty.  Monty is another character who had a good head on his shoulders.

21. Would you have been on Pike’s side like Bellamy or on Kane’s side? Or Clarke in Polis?

Kane’s side. No question.

22. Mount Weather had a lot of modern commodities. (example: Maya’s Ipod) What is the one thing you would snatch while there?

Maybe a kindle if they had that.  They probably would have different books than the Ark had, or the grounders.  Give me all the books.

23. What would your Grounder tattoos look like? Hairstyle? War paint?

Probably a couple tribal tattoos on my arms, maybe connecting with something spanning my shoulders and upper back.  Definitely ALL the braids; I already wear braids in my hair a lot, but I think they would just get more intricate for the grounder style. Some nice, swirling black warpaint around my eyes when I have to go to battle.

24. Favorite quote?

For someone who regularly collects quotes (though usually from books), I don’t actually have one.  But a quick internet search and choosing quickly, I’ll say a favorite is, “I say, screw fear. I’m telling my own damn story.” (Bellamy Blake, 1.13). It reminds me a little of my one of my favorite song lyrics, “I’m the hero of the story; don’t need to be saved,” from “Hero” by Regina Spektor, which is actually a pretty decent song for the show.

25. If all of the characters were in the Hunger Games, who would have the best shot at winning?

I’m gonna go with Clarke.  She’s smart and tactical and she does what she has to do. But if it came down to a straight up fight, probably Luna; she’d have the knowledge to survive the land and the talent to survive the fight.

Miller/Jackson - It just came out of nowhere, with no build up, and I like to see how things unfold, especially relationships, and so I’m being stubborn about them trying to tell me it’s a thing. Zaven - All I wanted was for Raven to finally find someone who could make her happy and show her what she could should have. So, yeah, I’m in denial and not the happiest person right now. (I haven’t even watched the new season yet--I know, I know, I’m a horrible fan, but I was sick and then busy catching up on life--and this is something that got spoiled for me even though I’ve been trying to avoid tumblr for a week; I blame Critical Role for encouraging me to go on Tumblr last Thursday) Minty - I found the ship in fanfiction and jumped on board quickly and happily.

27. A song that should be included in the next season? If there had to be another guest star like Shawn Mendes on the show, who would you want to make a cameo?

I’m going with the song that I actually used as a title to one of my fanfics, “Heathens” by Twenty One Pilots. (I also just am bad at knowing songs, so this I’ll stick with what I already know fits with the story)

Play card games? Drink? There wasn’t a whole lot to do.

You wouldn’t actually see me die, I’d just be one of the bodies bloody and lying on the ground.

30. A character you’d like to learn more about and get flashbacks of?

I think it’s actually Echo and/or Emori, both would be best; I’m curious about everyday life on the ground before the timeline of the show.

31. A character you’d bang?

Can I say all of them? If I have to select someone I‘d choose Bellamy, Clarke, Raven, or Roan. Basically the same answer as Toni.  Ooo, I’m adding Lincoln to the list, too.

32. Would you stay in the Bunker? Go up to Space? Or live on your own in Eden?

Assuming I could survive it (nightblood), Eden. I need my green and I don’t mind being alone, though I’d probably still talk to the radio or the animals or plants.

33. In the Bunker, would you follow Octavia? What would you do to pass the time underground?

Yup. I’m a follower.  Read, draw, think up stories.

These questions keep asking me questions with the assumption that I am not Lawful Good down to my core.  I have no idea what law/rule I would willfully break and what the circumstances would have to be for me to do it.

35. Up in Space, who would you bond with first? Who would be the most difficult for you to get along with?

Harper, no doubt about it. Probably more so Murphy wouldn’t get along with me.  He’d catch me making a face at something he said, and I didn’t honestly mean anything by it, my face just reacts, and he’d hold a grudge against me for a while.

36. How long do you think you would last on Earth by yourself?

If I had survival skills (know what to eat, how to find it, etc.) probably a long time. If I tried it at this exact moment, not very long at all.

37. When the Eligius ship lands what do you do?

Run, hide, observe, freak out. I don’t know.

Shaw.  (Why must all the good ones go?) Vinson, he was creepy AF.

Windshield bugs. I was about to say Space Algae, but then I thought about the texture it’d be, and I’m pretty sure it’d be the texture that makes me gag when I try to eat it.

Yeah no, I don’t want to go to war.  I would try to work out a way to share it.

I think I’d stick a thumb drive into a bullet hole.  The first is turning my stomach to think about, but somehow the second isn’t doing the same.

 Gut reaction against it, but that’s because I love my sister and she’s the sweetest.  But if she did what Octavia did and had that personality, probably, as long as I knew she wouldn’t be killed by it. What they did seemed to work...?

Sleep in cryo.

45. Who are you waking up first to explore the new planet?

Ouat thoughts

I'm re-watching once and tbh...

I'm starting to like hook a lot more. I mean I still think cs is the most bullshit forced couple ever. But hook when he is alone is actually pretty funny.

I also like him a lot with charming. They work well together and have an interesting dynamic. (also very fruity lmao)

The character I'm actually disliking the most is Emma. She's kinda of an ass tbh. Always seems to think she knows better and is generally unpleasant. Emma could be those things but they could have made it funny or smtg. It just doesn't make sense with the hero tyoe character she is. (Like, the villains are generally arrogant as well, but it makes sense and is funny.) She was ok in the first season, but it all went downhill after that. Her and hook maximizes that for me. It's two characters that suck the soul out of each other. They have 0 chemistry. Even hook and tikerbell had a better dynamic than those two and they barely interacted. Right now she seems devoid of any sort of personality and is just bland. I honestly think she doesn't add much to the show when she's on. She clearly needs a lot of therapy and healing from her past and I think shoving her in a relationship was the worst choice ever. Her character deserved more from the beginning.

Also starting to not see the appeal in sq. Regina seems to generally dislike Emma. The only reason they became closer and helped each other was Henry. Sure, we have some interesting moments that are accidentally fruity, but the majority of interactions between them aren't that remarkable. I feel like their relationship building is mostly accidental and done under moments of extreme stress (which has been proven to bring people closer together). When there's no danger and things are normal, they barely interact and when they do it's very neutral, like people who do not like each other but have to be cordial. That's not romance material to me.

Also started seeing more flaws in Regina as a person. Still love her, but there's some things she says and does that are coming from a person who is not very mature. Specially the blaming everyone else atitude. I get why she does it, I was like that, but I don't think forcing her to be a happy family with the others is the key. The woman is clearly mentally ill and has a lot of trauma/wrongdoings to unpack. She needs therapy, not a shitty fairy dust soul mate or hope speeches. also think that her becoming the good queen was not a good ending. as much as I love her she did some unforgivable things. I mean there's literally a part where we see the dead bodies of an entire village. She didn't do it, but she ordered it. Shit like that can't be swept under the rug, just like many other things other characters did.

That's the thing, I think she is capable of change, but not entitled to forgiveness. It is veeery hard to forgive some of the shit she did. Forgiveness should not be the end goal,it should be bettering urself so you don't ever hurt anyone again. BUT Also don't think she deserves to be punished forever. I honestly think her character should have been more of the villain who retired as in not actively ruining others peoples lives, but if you cross her she will absolutely end you and is generally conscious of the awful shit she did, but does not grovel for forgiveness. Like instead of being chaotic evil, becoming a chaotic neutral sort of thing.

Another thing I really dislike is Belle and rumple. Fuck she deserves so much better. I may not like her character, but I still think that rumple is unforgivable and she deserves waaay better. Like what kind of stockholm syndrome abusive shit is that??

Im tired of them. Its like its being shoved down my throat and i don't want it. WE GET IT YOU SEE THE BEST IN OTHER PPL AND YOU ARE A PIECE OF SHIT. YALL LOVE EACHOTHER V MUCH BUT CAN WE MOVE ON???

Rumple to me is another futile and failed attempt at redemption. Just let them be neutral assholes man. It's ok to have morally corrupt characters and not redeem them.

If they progress from active evil to neutral it still is a possibility for others to have a healthy relationship with them.

Like Henry and Regina. All he wanted was for her to stop doing evil shit. Not become a hero. I honestly think that it would have been a better alternative.

Both have done some crazy shit, both have stopped doing said crazy shit. And they know what they're getting if they get into a relationship. They probably understand each other the most and know how to handle it if the other goes off the rails. They wouldn't need to walk on egg shells around each other and would probably be generally happier.

I just don't think Regina would ever work in a relationship with a hero or someone who has never done anything majorly wrong.

Still hate Cora, the blue fairy and Sidney.

Still think Zelenas reason for revenge is one of the most pathetic and bullshit things ever.

Oq is still a no from me dawg. Possibly the worst couple in the entire series. Regina doesn't even seem to love him. she just sees him as a hero fairytale happy ending and not the real him. I may not like him, but as a person he deserves better (also she killed his wife, mother of his son??? tf) his character is also one of the worst to me. I preferred the first actor tbh.

Mary Margarets outfits are also still a no from me lmao.

Got the biggest ew moment with Snows father, cause both snows mom and regina were super young compared to him. Gives me the biggest gross creep vibe.

Show with a great premise and initially cool characters, but bad writing ruined it all.

I’m inclined to say that to get “credit” you have to kill someone on screen or claim credit.  I don’t care about war or justification.  Dead body means you get a kill.

Questions before hand...

Do the Heroes and Villains and Wish Realm kills count against David, Snow, Regina and Rumple?  Did Emma and company kill Lily in the H&V verse?  

Does Emma killing Hook count?

Does Rumple killing himself count?

A couple of things

1. How did Hook manage to do the magic to remove one of his memories and store it in a dreamcatcher?

I remember this being a big deal when Emma did it for the first time and it requiring inherent magic, which I don’t believe Hook has (anymore).

2. This conversation, I keep thinking about how Regina once said that Emma was too good for Hook and then when Emma said that Hook wanted to move on followed it up with something like “It’s because he hasn’t forgiven himself. We’re a lot alike”

This episode we learn-well, I mean, learn, it wasn’t hard to figure out-that Regina doesn’t/ didn’t believe she deserves love.

Last season everyone deduced that Regina believes, that she herself, doesn’t deserve Emma either. And if you listen to this conversation between Emma and Hook, it might as well be Regina explaining to Emma why.

She destroyed her own family to get her happy ending, but in the process she also destroyed Emma’s. She may not have cared at the time, but knowing Emma now, she does. 

Hook’s explanation here is part of why I believe she didn’t continue to pursue Emma in season 3. And the thing I believe cemented that, is not just that she believed she didn’t deserve Emma because of her past and all she’d done. But this. This moment.

Regina: “You’ll have never been born”

Emma: “I’m guessing this is where your help ends?”

Here Regina was clearly not okay with the possibility of Snow and her entire line ceasing to exist. But instead Emma immediately assumed that Regina couldn’t be happier about it.

That made it clear to Regina that while she hadn’t forgiven herself for what she’d done, Emma hadn’t really forgiven her for any of it either. There was still bad blood beneath the surface. Emma was still distrusting of her, on some level still expecting her to turn against them at the drop of a hat. Or at least revel in their misery. 

And it ties into this perfectly. 

You know how when you’re angry it’s often said that the thing you think you’re angry about isn’t usually what you’re angry about?

Well, this was Regina’s delayed reaction to what she became aware of in 3x18. That Emma still saw her as a villain. Emma wanting to leave and take Henry with her without even talking to her only confirmed that for her, I think. And then Emma actually ending up in the past -where she could have gotten herself killed-and meeting her past self, which I’m sure Regina wished Emma never had. Then on top of that a reminder that Emma was a full-on hero. And she...wasn’t. It made Regina realize that they weren’t friends. And if they weren’t even friends then what were they?

This is the reason that I believe Regina was really angry at Emma for about half a season. It wasn’t just about Emma bringing Marian back. Emma bringing back a living, breathing reminder of the villain she’d been and was still believed to be was just the last straw.

It’s also why she ran into Robin’s arms. Because he made it clear from the moment they met that he didn’t think of her as evil or a monster. And then continued to believe that.

And then not only did Emma, who had known her for ages,  still think she was a monster, Emma then proceeded to take from her the one person who didn’t seem to that she could maybe have a future with. Bringing back his wife, who did see her as a monster. I mean...if that is not the definition of rubbing salt in the wound. 

But I think being faced with the actual Evil Queen, the actual villain, in the past made Emma realize that her Regina was nothing like that. It made her realize how much Regina had actually changed. But by then it was almost too late. Almost.

tfw a show you no longer care about puts characters you DO care about in it and somehow manages to do them so much justice??? Looking at you Once Upon A Time

How did you do it, OUAT? How did you make Jekyll and Hyde so spot-on perfect, and absolutely NAIL their characters down, but the rest of your show is still directionless convoluted and frustrating??

I’m so upset. How did you pull that off. Why did you do this to me. Where is this kind of writing with the rest of your characters that HAVE to stick around cuz of their plot armor?

I didn’t even bother catching up with the whole show, I stopped watching back in season 2 and just, picked up the second to last episode of season 5 when Jek/Hyde show up. Somehow I wasn’t very lost. I pretty much understood everything that was going on (or maybe, my suspension of belief is so high for this crazy show which breaks all its own world rules and makes things happen on convenience alone???)

And heck this isn’t saying that they managed to squeeze Jekyll and Hyde into Once Upon A Time flawlessly and believably, because I mean, the main characters literally were thrown into a convenient portal to another realm. Hyde consistently knows way more than he should and is only in the show for like four episodes but managed to have his fingers in all the pies at the dessert table anyway. It was all convenience and like, didn’t slow down to ask important questions and since the characters didn’t question it, we didn’t either (that’s a lie I questioned it I questioned it so much)

I’m glad they killed off Jekyll and Hyde because now I don’t have to continue watching, but I’m also really sad that they died so quickly because the scenes they were both in were some of the best I’ve watched out of the show (excluding like, season 1 regina/evil queen and mr gold/rumple). They were entertaining, fresh, new, and honestly I think they were so fun because they didn’t have any relation to the main cast? OUAT has a bad habit of forcing every new character to be SOMEHOW related to Henry, and it’s just, confusing and obnoxious. It was refreshing to have some new feeling characters come in and shake things up a bit.

And oh my GOSH having Hyde not be affected by Magic and unable to be killed was so nice, what a good villain for the cast of heroes that rely on magic to solve all their problems. Gold literally tried to magic choke him to death TWICE and Hyde just sat there laughing at him while his windpipe was being crushed like what the f RICK

I’m not going to go on about how much I loved the characterization of Jekyll and Hyde besides I L O V E D it, it was so good, this is probably one of my favorite adaptions of the story I’ve seen. It’s up there with the BBC series and also LXG comic and film. Like. It was so enjoyable and touched on everything I love about that story and I’m really happy they did such a good job. It didn’t follow the book exactly but I really really enjoyed this version regardless!!!!!

Henry ‘My Evil Doppelganger Stole The Girl Of My Dreams And I’m A Mess Now’ Jekyll

I’ve always wanted to do my own crossover story involving these characters + some other classic horror characters and like, this was a really good source of inspiration for how I’d like to write and interpret these two. Ahhhhhh. I’m so... I’m really happy watching these episodes wasn’t a waste of time for me, I genuinely enjoyed all of their scenes ;w; 

I would have killed a dude for them not to have died and instead like, actually get to be part of the domestic Storybrooke life, lol. Give me Jekyll and Frankenstein teaching science at the high school and Hyde working at the Jailhouse or something like wt f why would you throw these two away like that ;;_____;;

For me, when it comes to CS v. SQ and why I choose CS (despite their problems in canon) is that, for me, while SQ have reached the friends (or allies) stage in canon, I feel like there’s not really a lot of feeling behind it. That Regina’s connections to the Snowing family are more about making her look good and getting her that redemption that the show so badly wants all their villains (with the seeming exception of Rumple) to have so badly. To me, the mere idea that Snowing and Emma and whoever have forgiven Regina (or Killian, or Zelena or whoever) for their transgressions isn’t enough. I need to hear and see evidence that all the reforming villains truly understand that what they did wrong was wrong and why (and maybe get a little fire and brimstone along the way that is NOT written so that we actually feel sorry for the reforming villain the entire time.) If we were going just by what we see in canon, I would dislike both CS and SQ. The reason I like CS isn’t because of the narrative they’ve been given (anymore) but because away from their story, I like the mix of personality types Emma and Killian have. 

I just don’t know what to do with this show anymore. It’s obvious what ending the writers want for all our villain-turned heroes. But they’ve been doing a really bad job of writing it for everyone, either being too soft on the reforming villain or too hard, and that makes it really hard to root for anyone.

Hi! I don't like C$, but I don't get how people like SQ and R*mbelle??? I mean, to me those ships are just as toxic as C$. Mostly because Belle and Emma deserve better. Like Rumple had so many chances and Belle just wanted him to try, but he didn't. He wanted power. And Regina, I just can't handle her with the Graham situation... Like she hasn't even told Emma or felt remorse??? What do you think about the fans who don't like these ships for these reasons? (Not C$ers)

For Rumbelle, I do in fact not think it is that toxic. I mean, obviously Rumple has … issues, and so does Belle, but I think the essence of Rumbelle is unconditional, selfless love.The most recent seasons however haven’t treated Rumbelle all that well, and it has in fact become an unhealthy relationship, but I do think that Belle is more abusive than Rumple in the last season, due to her behaving totally OOC. For Swan Queen, I think what lots of people see in it is representation. there is some queer subtext, especially in the first seasons, OUAT is very heteronormative, and it would be amazing to have a queer couple defy the typical Prince & the Princess- trope.However, I acknowledge that there are some problematic elements in their relationship. I  think the main difference for me between CS and SQ is that Regina had  a real redemption arc, not the 2 seconds of redemption that a certain pirate had.People often use Graham as an example for Swan Queen being toxic, and I am not saying it isn’t a valid point. (Somehow it wasn’t resolved in canon, which also startles me, because it was very important obviously) But I want to say that I see Swan Queen as a perfect enemies to lovers - trope, where both characters have grown a lot and eventually find out they are in love.To sum up: I think fans who point these things out have valid points, and they are entitled to their opinion. As long as these fans don’t invade tags (which CSers LOVE to do) and discuss questions in a polite and respectful way, I think they are an essential and important part of the fandom.

Maybe it's because we only got 2 episodes and didn't get a better look into the backstory, but I feel like they did make Hero and Villains Snow a very B&W villain. She had no emotion and yes the motivation was she lost her "true love" (for that verse anyway) but she doesn't even seem to care about him. All she cares about is hurting Regina. 

It makes me wonder if H&V's Snow has her heart or if she pulled a Cora.
