The adventure is beginning...
I really got in. I did it. I am an official part of the UWC family now and I will be attending the UWC in Canada in 2017-19. For now, I don’t know how to handle all the excitement and happiness, and maybe, just maybe, that’s the reasons why I am wide awake at 4 in the morning. I am just way too happy to sleep. I think I will use this blog to talk about life before pearson college and all the preparation, but I also consider writing on a regular basis about what’s going on, what I think about pearson etc (once I am there). But I am incredibly happy and grateful for this opportunity and I feel like I still need time to realize this is not a dream but my actual life now. If you will be attending Pearson in 17-19 as well, please let me know, because that would be just too amazing to talk then! That’s it for now 🌎

Welcome to Pearson Adventures
21st of March, 2015
Hello! My name is Aurora, I’m 16 (soon 17) years old and I come from the country of red-white-and-blue, fjords and glaciers, polar bears, trolls and, of course, the famous cheese slicer; Norway.
This August will be the beginning of my own unexpected and long-dreamed-of UWC adventure as I start at Pearson College in Canada! This blog will mostly be for family left behind, friends left behind, friends I meet ahead, other UWC students, prospective UWC applicants and students, people generally interested in UWC, people generally interested in Canada, people generally interested in blogs, and other generally interested people.
here is an aesthetic, aerial photograph of my new school, Pearson
It was only yesterday, the 20th of March, I got my horrifying letter from UWC Norway with the well kept secret of my destiny. The awaiting of that very letter has the last couple of weeks caused me serious heart- and head- and mind trauma, overwhelming eye-leaking, word-vomiting on innocent civilians, and a very peculiar hiding-from-society-under-my-blankets behavior. I can’t describe how happy I was when I read my name and the words “accepted” and “Lester B. Pearson College of Canada” together in my letter, but I do think the neighbors took my screaming for me being loudly tortured. However, I think I’ll get back to the long application process, my interview and my letter in future blog posts.
look how beautiful it is! I've always loved forests.
So, that leaves me here. 16 years old, and in about 5 months I’m moving far away from my secure, loving home and parents to live and study with about 200 other students from all around the world for peace and a sustainable future (as the UWC motto says) in the providence of British Columbia, Canada - the land of moose, hockey and maple syrup. Is this even real. (I hope so)
so, this is where I’m going. Nearest city: Victoria. Not too far from: Vancouver. A swim away from: the US of A. (okay, maybe not a swim, but I hear you can see Washington in the horizon from the college)
And if you haven’t already predicted, I am terribly excited and amazingly happy and preposterously flabbergasted. Yesterday I also got in touch with my really cool co-year whose name is Eskil (apparently we’re really alike and that’s fun) and my two great second years, Hanna and Astrid! Can’t wait to talk more with them all. Now I’m gonna go and make a countdown of days until somewhere near the end of August (exact date of far-reaching aerial journey still unknown). I CAN’T BELIEVE THIS IS HAPPENING.
Okay, that’s the end of my first blog post as prospective UWC student of Canada. I’ll write when there’s something to write about. Be aware of upcoming blog posts about me-myself-and-I, the UWC mission, my application process, my new school Pearson, fun facts about Canada, my expectations, an intro weekend with all the 40 new Norwegian UWC students somewhere in June, and generally stuff that happens. I’m gonna throw in another picture of my school and its location. See ya!
far away to the west in a coastal forest lies a magical school where anything and everything can happen. It’s name? UWC Pearson College of Canada...
