Madhusudan Das
Madhusudan Das (28 April 1848 – 4 February 1934) was an Indian lawyer and social reformer, who founded Utkal Sammilani in 1903 to campaign for the unification of Odisha along with its.. social and industrial development. He was one of the prominent figure, helping in the creation of Orissa Province (present-day Odisha, India), which was established on 1 April 1936. He was also the first graduate and advocate of Orissa. He is also known as Kulabruddha (Grand Old Man),

Family-
Madhusudan Das was born 28 April 1848 at Satyabhamapur, 20 kilometres (12 mi) from Cuttack during the Company rule in India in a Zamindari Karana family.His father was Choudhury Raghunath Das and his mother, Parvati Devee. They had initially named him Gobindaballabh. He had two elder sisters and a younger brother named Gopalballabh. Gopalballabh was a Magistrate at Bihar Province and the father of Ramadevi Choudhury. He was converted to Christianity that caused him boycotted in the village which he had to quit to erect a small house at the end of the village. The house was known as ‘Madhukothi’ or ‘Balipokharikothi’, later on used as the state office of the Kasturba National Memorial Trust, in a part of which was running the Anganabadi, Balbadi. Madhusudan had adopted two Bengali girls; Sailabala Das and Sudhanshubala Hazra. Sailabala was an educationist who had been trained in England, and in whose name the famous Sailabala Women's College of Cuttack was founded.Sailabala was Bengali, and her parents had left her in the care of Madhusudan Das and his wife Soudamini Devi at Calcutta. In 1864, he passed Matriculation from Cuttack and thereafter he was inclined to become a teacher and began his career as a teacher at Balasore for three years. The year 1866 was the year of a acute famine in Odisha, called the "Naanka Durviksha" When more than one lakh people died of hunger. This year he converted himself to Christian and changed his name as Madhusudan Das from his earlier name of Gobinda Ballav Choudhury.
Political career--
Known as 'Madhu Babu' by the common people, he worked for the political, social and economical upliftment of the people of Orissa and worked as a lawyer, journalist, legislator, politician and social reformer. He founded Utkal Sammilani which brought a revolution in the social and industrial development of Orissa. He was elected as a member of the legislative council of Bihar and Orissa Province and under the Diarchy scheme of Government of India Act, 1919, he was appointed as Minister for Local Self-Government, Medical Public Health, Public Works in 1921. He was the first Odia to become a member of both the legislative council and the Central Legislative Assembly of India. He founded Utkal Sammilani (Utkal Union Conference) which laid the foundation of Odia nationalism. Utkal Sammilani spearheaded the demand for unification of Odia speaking areas under a single administration. This led to the formations of state of Odisha on 1 April 1936. He was also the first Odia to travel to England. He founded the Utkal Tannery in 1905, a factory producing shoes and other leather products. In 1897 he founded the ODISHA Art Ware Works. With his support, the Tarakasi(filigree) work of silver ornaments achieved commendable feet.
Contribution to literature--
As a writer and poet, patriotism was always at the forefront of his mind, and that was reflected in all of his literary works. He penned a number of articles and poems in both English and Odia. Some of his important poems are "Utkal Santan", "Jati Itihash" and "Jananira Ukti". He was also an influential speaker in Odia, Bengali and English.
Last years--
He died on 4 February 1934 at the age of 85.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader Hemant Soren was sworn in as the 11th Chief Minister of Jharkhand.
Governor of Jharkhand Droupadi Murmu has administered the office and secrecy to Soren, in the presence of senior political leaders and chief ministers from across states.
This will be his second stint as Jharkhand Chief Minister.

Fertilizers Cooperative Organics Limited, SIFFCO. SIFFCO is a joint venture between the world's biggest fertilizers Cooperative, IFFCO, and Government of Sikkim.
The major commercial crops in which Sikkim IFFCO WILL operate are ginger, Tumeric, large cardamom, and buckwheat.
Its aim is to produce and market the organic produce of the country and especially from Sikkim and other north-eastern states of India.
Trakeasoftware: Haryana Police became the first to introduce in Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL)
Haryana Police has introduced a unique barcoding software Trakea to enable foolproof security of the samples collected in Forensic reports.
Haryana became the first state in the country to introduce this unique barcoding system. Manohar Lal Khattar Chief Minister of Haryana inaugurated the TRAKEA barcoding system of Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) at Madhuban Haryana.
The software was developed by a software engineer.

Odisha: CM Naveen Patnaik Launched Madhup app to help school students
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has launched the Madhu app.
It is an e-learning mobile application that will help school students to understand their subjects and the most efficient way.
The app is named after Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Das. The app is developed by the Ganjam district administration for school students.
Through this app, the students will be able to access the video explanation of the topics they were taught in their classrooms.
Inner Line Permit (ILP): Meghalaya Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution to bring the state under ILP
The Meghalaya Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution urging the Government of India to implement inner Line Permit in the state under the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation, 1873.
The one-day special session was conducted with the sole intention to pass the resolution view of the demand by the indigenous residents of the state for implementation of ILP.
Inner Line Permit (ILP) is an official travel document issued by the Government of India to allow inward travel of an Indian citizen into a protected area for a limited period.
The document is an effort by the government to regulate movement to certain areas located near the international border of India.

With an aim to create employment opportunities, Union Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the skill-cum-common facility centre for filigree craftsman at Odisha’s Cuttack. Speaking on the occasion, Dharmendra Pradhan said, “It is our endeavour to provide world-class facilities for skill training and to promote the traditional art and crafts of Odisha. As a part of this journey, we are delighted to announce the launch of Prime Minister Kaushal Kendra, a state-of-the art centre that will meet the local demands and hope this will definitely encourage the craftsmen of Cuttack and their craftsmanship to reach the whole world and they will get an opportunity to sell their products in different countries”. Adding to this, Pradhan said that such initiatives will also boost tourism in Cuttack and more numbers of tourists will come to Cuttack to not only buy filigree but also other famous products of Cuttack including Khandua Textile, horn and terracotta work. The project was launched on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Das, who laid the foundation of industrialisation in Odisha. They have been conceptualised as a mark of respect for Utkal Gourab Shri Madhusudan Das to carry forward his legacy. Speaking on this occasion, Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab said, “I am very happy that, the Government of India has strengthened its support for such great initiative which will help in boosting Cuttack’s economy and make Odias self-reliant.” Rajeev Sethi, Designer, Scenographer and Art Curator hailed this as a great initiative by Dharmendra Pradhan. Cuttack has renowned artists. “We need to take care of such traditional art, we need to encourage such artisans and male them world class. Let the world know what filigree is all about. There should be filigree international festival where the world gets to know what we are capable off. It is a great initiative which will boost the confidence of small artists and also make them entrepreneurs. This market oriented training and common facility centre is a great idea by Dharmendra Pradhan”, he said. With the establishment of the Centre, the artisans will not only get an opportunity to upgrade their skills but will also get a window to connect with the global market. The Centre will also provide training on marketing strategies, including e-commerce, so that the artisans can be self-sustained and engage directly with buyers. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, while addressing students at the state-level observation of Children’s Day in Bhubaneswar, made some major announcements in the field of school education. The significant announcements are : 1. ‘Odia Bhasa Brutti Puraskar’ for those scoring good marks in Odia subject in the annual Matric examination. As many as 10 students from each block of the state will get a cash award of Rs 5,000 each. 2. ‘Mukhya Mantri Medhabruti Puraskar’ for meritorious students scoring good marks in Matric exam. As many as 40,000 students of the state will get prize money of Rs 5,000 each. A total of 100 students from each block, 100 from each municipal corporation, 50 from each municipality and 20 students from each NAC will get the award. 3. State government will felicitate parents and teachers of those students securing good marks in Matric examination. 4. Best 3 schools of each block will get a cash award of Rs 3 lakh each and the amount will be distributed among the teachers of the respective schools. 5. ‘Mo School’ campaign– an initiative to make passout students an active participant in the development journey of their schools. Under this programme, whatever is contributed in terms of funds for development of schools, the state will contribute double the amount. Initial corpus of Rs 100 crores has been announced for this initiative. In his speech, which was broadcasted live on Doordarshan, regional TV channels and FM radio channels, Patnaik remind the students about legendary Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Das and Biju Patnaik. “Odisha has reached a certain level in most indicators. With our focus on quality education, we can take our state to the next level,” Patnaik said. The Chief Minister, who is often criticised by his political opponents for not being able to deliver his speeches in Odia language fluently, was seen addressing the students in the language for several minutes before switching to English and later concluding his speech in Odia. Prior to Patnaik’s speech, the function witnessed various cultural programmes and performances by Prince Dance Group and Odisha Dance Academy.
