Finally saved Angie’s piece of shit dad. It took me two hours worth of attempts to realise I could activate healing touch while in healing touch, but the bastards I now realise were spiders not weevils are dead and I’m sure this mean Guilt is over forever now!
YES, CONGRATULATIONS! YOU'VE DONE IT! GUILT IS OVER, IT WILL NEVER COME BACK TO HURT US! NEVER EVER!
...
or IS IT?

I've been sorting through the music I have on my external drive which means I've once again been thinking about the trauma center OSTs and in particular this track, which is The Song Of All Time.
I love this shit so much I have no idea how they managed to get it to work with the limitations of the DS. it has so many layers, and you do hear most of them, even from the tinny speakers of the console (I still replay this game sometimes lmao)
youtube
^ this is the stage it comes from. I still think the shadow of the hand gripping the heart is one of the coolest bits of imagery, it's stuck with me since the game dropped
love these ridiculous surgery games. I miss them so much and they're for sure never going to make another at this point which is very sad. in retrospect GUILT/neo-GUILT was so 'baby's first body horror' for me, those are some funky little viruses (especially kyriaki and tetarti, truly the embodiment of 'just some little guy'). it's like uhhhh an anime doctor gateway drug of some kind, no wonder I ended up getting so attached to resi lmao

Fun fact, I am a Kenneth Blackwell enthusiast. So here's art of him I've done over the last couple days. I've grown super attached to him in the last week or so, so Im tempted to do an analysis type post of why I really like him as a character, so I'd be curious to know if any of you would be interested in my commentary on Blackwell?

in middle/high school I was so fucking into trauma center (the atlus magical surgery video game franchise) it's not even funny. I formed stronger opinions about under the knife 2 for the nintendo ds than I've had about many real and important things in my life. & I was down so bad for the nasty purple haired doctor. it was disgraceful
so like it is really funny to me how that series has just fallen off the face of the earth. no ports or rereleases. the last entry was 14 years ago and it wasn't even technically a trauma center game. radio silence since then. probably best known thing to come from it nowadays is the squidward meme. a formative part of my adolescence isolated to two nintendo consoles from the 2000s and its legacy is a youtube poop joke. it's the best
that song kills me btw because it's like the only song in that game. everything but a couple of tracks is just that leitmotif remixed basically. it's inescapable. whole squidward ass game.
anyway since no one ever mentions it anymore ever, i'll say that i think the series is worth giving a try if you like completely batshit insane writing delivered with intense seriousness and the idea of performing surgery with a wii remote doesn't scare you away. or like, you want to hear more shoji meguro circa P4, but like, specifically the tracks where he's not trying too hard. it is such a weird footnote in gaming.

Hooray! I really enjoyed that game and feel a sense of accomplishment from beating it that I haven’t got from a game for a very long time. I’ve unlocked some challenges, it’s very sweet of the game to think I could do them, however there is no plot carrot at the end of this stick, so maybe in a few years!
Speaking of plot, WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH ADAM!!?? Is he a corpse? Is he just very close to one??? What was that about one final GUILT strand called Bliss??? WE HAD BETTER NOT BE INFECTED! I AM NOT DOING SURGERY ON MYSELF NEXT GAME!
I was genuinely worried I was going to have to operate on Adam and that he would contain every type of GUILT know to man (and also whatever the fuck Bliss is), so I am very thankful to the game for not making me do that, because my play time is 18 hours long. This makes up for the cruelty of having a meeting between Victor and Dr Blackwell happen off screen rather than letting me see it. I want to know how they interact, dammit!
Anyway it was nice watching the sunset with Angie and knowing that those child test subjects are back to their normal lives. What a wonderful bastard of a game!
i'm so happy you enjoyed it! this game is so dear to me (and what i mean by that is that i remember the characters and the stories so fondly, while also making me seethe with white hot rage at the mere sight of a triangle. ahh, good times), and it's honestly such a hidden little gem, so i'm glad i could spread the word a bit (EVEN IF ATLUS HAS LEFT THE SERIES OUT TO DIE).
and oh, you think it gets crazy here? boy, you haven't seen anything yet. i will always appreciate this series' commitment to being absolutely BATSHIT CRAZY. grey's anatomy my ASS, this is some real doctorin'.
and yes, go take that well deserved break now...then come back when you're ready cause UtK2, hOO BABY! (and you have to meet my beautiful darling son aaaAAA).

What about UTK2?
Yep. That one is happening too.
To give the order of stories for you lovely folks.
Under the Knife/Second Opinion
Trauma Team
Under the Knife 2
New Blood
All of them have been scripted and are ready to be drawn. I just can't say when I'll get to each one since all of it takes time. (Just look at the current story. That took me 4 years to draw in its entirety.) All I can promise is that I will get to them all eventually. <3 This project means a lot to me and Storm. We will both see it through.

Very funny once you realize that Under the Knife (and Second Opinion and UtK2) aren't actually set in America, the localization just replaced Japan with America.
Because then you look at the first game actually set in America, New Blood, and see what the Japanese writers did to set the scene. We're in the Alaskan rural wilderness! A man received an accidental gunshot wound while hunting grizzly bear! Valerie meets a Catholic Nun.
Yup, we're in the USA alright.
