These procedures are less risky than traditional surgeries, have shorter recovery times, and are often performed on an outpatient basis. The field has grown rapidly, offering numerous non-surgical treatments in India.
These non-surgical treatments are performed by interventional radiologists, who are medical doctors and are highly trained in both radiology and interventional procedures, allowing them to diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions effectively and with minimal risk to the patient. Their expertise spans various areas, including vascular, oncology, neurology, and gastrointestinal systems, making them integral to modern medical care.
Interventional radiology in India is gaining recognition for its innovative approach to diagnosing and treating various medical conditions. Interventional radiologists use imaging techniques such as X-rays, MRIs, CT scans, and ultrasounds to guide small instruments like catheters through the body to treat diseases. This approach minimizes trauma, reduces infection risks, and shortens hospital stays.
Common Procedures performed in Interventional Radiology in India
Angiography and angioplasty: Angiography involves using X-ray imaging to visualize blood vessels. It helps diagnose blockages or abnormalities in the arteries or veins. When a blockage is found, angioplasty may be performed simultaneously, where a balloon is used to open up the narrowed or blocked blood vessels, often followed by placing a stent to keep the vessel open.
Embolization: It is a procedure where substances are injected to block or reduce blood flow to certain areas. It is commonly used to treat:
Uterine fibroids: Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) reduces blood flow to fibroids, causing them to shrink.
Liver tumors: Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) delivers chemotherapy directly to liver tumors while restricting their blood supply.
Varicocele: Embolization blocks the blood flow to the affected veins, reducing pain and swelling.
Thrombolysis: It involves dissolving blood clots using medications administered directly to the site of the clot via a catheter. It is particularly effective in treating deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).
Ablation procedures: Interventional radiologists use ablation techniques such as radiofrequency, microwave, or cryoablation to precisely target and destroy tumors. These minimally invasive methods are particularly effective for tumors in organs like the liver, kidneys, or lungs, offering an alternative to traditional surgery. It uses extreme heat or cold to destroy abnormal tissues. Common types include:
Radiofrequency ablation (RFA): Uses heat to destroy cancer cells or abnormal tissues.
Cryoablation: uses extreme cold to freeze and destroy diseased tissues, particularly in treating certain cancers and cardiac arrhythmias.
Central venous access: For patients needing long-term intravenous treatments, interventional radiologists insert central lines or ports. This ensures reliable, continuous access to the bloodstream for administering medications, nutrients, or chemotherapy, reducing the need for repeated needle sticks.
Vertebral augmentation: Patients with painful vertebral compression fractures can benefit from procedures like vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty. These involve injecting bone cement into the fractured vertebrae to stabilize them, significantly reducing pain and enhancing the patient’s mobility and quality of life.
Chemoembolization and radioembolization: Primarily used for liver cancer, these techniques combine embolization with the direct delivery of chemotherapy or radiation to the tumor. This approach maximizes treatment effectiveness while minimizing systemic side effects, providing targeted and efficient cancer therapy.
Biopsy: It involves using a needle to collect a small tissue sample for analysis, guided by imaging technologies. It is a minimally invasive procedure that offers important diagnostic and therapeutic advantages.

Revolutionizing Uterine Fibroids Treatment in India: Dr. Gaurav Gangwani’s Expertise in Embolization
The Burden of Uterine Fibroids
Uterine fibroids are benign tumors that develop in the muscle tissue of the uterus, affecting a significant number of women during their reproductive years. While not cancerous, fibroids can cause severe symptoms, including heavy menstrual bleeding, pelvic pain, and pressure on the bladder and bowel, leading to a reduced quality of life. Traditional treatment has often involved surgical procedures, most notably hysterectomy—the complete removal of the uterus.
Dr. Gaurav Gangwani: A Pioneer in Non-Surgical Treatment
Dr. Gaurav Gangwani, a leading interventional radiologist based in Mumbai, has become a prominent figure in the treatment of uterine fibroids, adenomyosis, and arterio-venous malformations through uterine fibroid embolization (UFE). His pioneering work in this field has provided women with effective, non-surgical alternatives that preserve the uterus and drastically reduce recovery time.
Uterine Fibroid Embolization (UFE) Explained
UFE is a minimally invasive procedure that involves making a small incision in the groin or wrist to insert a catheter into the uterine arteries. Dr. Gangwani then directs embolic agents through the catheter, which block the blood flow to fibroids, causing them to shrink and symptoms to alleviate. This procedure is performed under local anesthesia with light sedation, allowing for a comfortable patient experience.
Advantages of UFE Over Hysterectomy
Uterus Preservation
One of the most significant advantages of UFE is the preservation of the uterus, which is not possible with a hysterectomy. This is crucial for women who may consider pregnancy in the future or wish to retain their uterus for personal reasons.
Less Invasive with Fewer Complications
UFE involves a small incision and no removal of any part of the body, leading to significantly fewer complications compared to the surgical risks associated with hysterectomy, which include bleeding, infection, and prolonged recovery.
Shorter Recovery Time
Women undergoing UFE typically return to normal activities much quicker than those who undergo a hysterectomy. Most patients can go home the same day of the procedure and return to full activity within a week or two.
Effective for Multiple Conditions
In addition to treating fibroids, Dr. Gangwani successfully uses UFE to manage adenomyosis and arterio-venous malformations, conditions that are often challenging to treat surgically.
Dr. Gangwani’s Role in Advancing Fibroid Treatment
Dr. Gangwani is not only a practitioner but also an advocate for patient education and the advancement of interventional radiology techniques. Fibroid रसौली का बिना ऑपरेशन इलाज by most advance method EMBOLIZATION
All You Need To Know About Uterine Fibroids In this video, I, Dr. Virender Sheorain, will talk about uterine fibroids. This is for those females who are surfing with the fibroid of the uterus, medically termed as #Leiomyoma. This is a non-cancerous disease. In this case, the fibroids can grow in and on your uterus, causing symptoms to appear and females to suffer greatly. Their sufferings can be broadly divided into two parts: - Excessive bleeding: that causes hemoglobin levels to drop. - Obstructive: if the fibroid size increases, the uterus size also increases, and this puts pressure on the urinary bladder or rectum, causing #urine and constipation problems or excessive bleeding. Uterine artery embolization is the most advanced technique. Though it was started 15 to 20 years ago, it is not that popular in #india . The reason being that the patient visits their local #physician or #gynecologist , and most of the patients are not educated about this procedure. The majority of patients who come to us are referred by their #doctors , relatives, or through social media and the internet. What should we know about fibroids? - Females will have a lot of pain during their periods (menstruation). - Excessive bleeding (menorrhagia). - Will have frequent urination. - Will have #constipation How are uterine fibroids diagnosed? Fibroids can be felt during a clinical examination by your gynecologist. Once they suspect the fibroids, they will ultimately refer you for an #ultrasound . Simple ultrasound can provide details about the size, number, and location of the fibroid to help plan its treatment. An MRI can be done to get more details. How are uterine fibroids treated? After diagnosis, there are three kinds of treatment options available for the uterus: - Medicine - Operation - Embolization #medicine : These are very temporary, have lots of side effects, and are given till you get menopause, i.e., you might be in your 40s or 50s, until your period stops and you are able to tolerate the medicines. Operation: A gynecologist recommends surgery either to remove the uterus or to remove the fibroids selectively, which is called a Myomectomy. Uterus removal has lots of side effects and hormonal effects. Sometimes patients even suffer depression as they lose their #organs . It is not a very good treatment option. #Myomectomy or selective removal of the fibroid with a #laparoscope can be a good option if performed in a good location and is easily removed. Embolization: The next option is embolization, in which a thin tube (catheter) is inserted through a blood vessel in the wrist and guided to the blood vessels that feed the fibroids of the #uterus, where tiny particles are injected to stop blood flow to the fibroids and dry them. The #symptoms then vanish or go away, and this #treatment has fewer side effects. The embolization does not need blood or #anesthesia ; you just need to stay in the hospital for 2 to 3 days for pain management. In young patients, when the fibroids are detected at an early age and they want to become #pregnant , they usually ask us whether they should opt for #surgery or embolization. In those cases, if they have one or two fibroids in a simple location, they should opt for myomectomy, but if they have multiple fibroids, embolization is a better option. It cannot be guaranteed that you can be #fertile or can conceive after surgery or embolization, but these are the only two options available. With this video, I want to spread awareness that if you or someone you know has a uterine fibroid, then do a search on the internet or watch videos of ours on uterine fibroid embolization or other similar ones. Meet a nearby #vascularsurgeon and discuss the pros and cons of it before deciding on the treatment plan. We will be happy to help you. Do visit us or raise your queries at the provided WhatsApp number.

Basic Details About Arogya Sanjeevani
Arogya Sanjeevani can be described as a basic health plan that provides coverage for medical and hospitalization expenses to the tune of five lakh rupees at the most. IRDAI (Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India) has now made it necessary for all health insurers in the country to offer these policies for both families and individuals in both standard and basic variants. There is no difference in the policy no matter which insurer – health or general – is offering the same. The policy offers you several benefits. It provides coverage for the likes of the post and pre-hospitalization expenses such as bed charges and nursing charges.
What does the policy include?
The Arogya Sanjeevani policy provides coverage for the following areas:
Post and pre-hospitalization expenses
Ambulance services
Coverage for COVID 19
Day-care treatment
AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy) coverage
Dental treatment and plastic surgery
Charges of ICCU (intensive care coronary unit) and ICU (intensive care unit)
Cataract surgery
Room rent
The policy would cover all the costs that you incur before and after hospitalization in cases of a medical emergency owing to an injury or illness. It would also provide you with coverage for the costs incurred in getting treated for Coronavirus.
Thanks to the AYUSH benefit provided by the policy you can cover the costs of hospitalization that you incur in obtaining such alternative means of treatment. However, the hospital where you got the treatment needs to be approved by your insurer for you to receive this benefit.
The new-age treatments covered by the policy
The health insurance policy provides coverage for the following new-age treatments:

You get universal coverage in this policy. This means that the terms and conditions remain the same no matter which insurer you get it from. It also helps that these policies are available in family-floater versions as well. You can be sure that you would get all the benefits of this policy if you buy it from a leading service provider such as PhonePe.

Interventional Radiologist in Jaipur: Revolutionizing Minimally Invasive Healthcare
Interventional radiology In Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, the field of interventional radiology is gaining momentum, providing patients with advanced, targeted treatments that often require no large incisions, less recovery time, and minimal discomfort. As Jaipur emerges as a medical hub in North India, interventional radiologists in the city are at the forefront of this transformative approach, offering hope to patients with conditions ranging from varicose veins to complex vascular diseases.
What is Interventional Radiology?
Interventional radiology is a subspecialty of radiology that utilizes imaging techniques such as X-rays, CT scans, ultrasounds, and MRIs to guide small instruments like catheters and wires into the body to treat various conditions. Unlike traditional surgery, IR procedures are performed through small incisions or punctures, making them less invasive. This approach leads to fewer risks, shorter hospital stays, quicker recoveries, and often better patient outcomes.
Interventional radiologists are specially trained to perform these image-guided procedures, which range from diagnostic biopsies to therapeutic treatments like stenting, embolization, and ablation.
Growth of Interventional Radiology in Jaipur
Jaipur, known for its rich cultural heritage, has also become a growing center for healthcare excellence. Over the past decade, the city's healthcare infrastructure has seen remarkable improvements, with numerous multispecialty hospitals and clinics offering cutting-edge medical treatments. One of the fields witnessing rapid growth is interventional radiology. Patients from Rajasthan and neighboring states are now traveling to Jaipur for access to this advanced form of treatment.
Several factors contribute to the increasing demand for interventional radiology in Jaipur:
Minimally invasive nature of the procedures: Patients, particularly those dealing with chronic conditions or those who are not ideal candidates for surgery, are drawn to the benefits of IR. These include faster recovery, fewer complications, and the ability to go home on the same day for many procedures.
Wide range of applications: Interventional radiology is used in various medical fields, including vascular diseases, cancer treatment, uterine fibroids, liver and kidney issues, and more. This wide applicability makes it an attractive option for patients seeking alternatives to traditional surgical interventions.
Skilled practitioners and advanced technology: Jaipur’s interventional radiologists are highly trained and use state-of-the-art equipment to perform these procedures. The city is home to both public and private institutions equipped with advanced imaging technology, ensuring that patients receive accurate diagnoses and effective treatments.
Conditions Treated by Interventional Radiologists
Interventional radiologists in Jaipur offer treatments for a broad spectrum of conditions, including:

Interventional radiologists perform minimally invasive procedures such as endovenous laser treatment (EVLT) and sclerotherapy to treat varicose veins, providing quick relief and eliminating the need for surgery.
Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD): Patients with PAD experience reduced blood flow to their limbs, leading to pain and discomfort. Interventional radiologists can use angioplasty and stenting to open up blocked arteries, restoring blood flow and alleviating symptoms.
Uterine Fibroids: Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is a common IR procedure that treats non-cancerous growths in the uterus. This procedure avoids the need for a hysterectomy and allows women to preserve their fertility while reducing symptoms such as heavy bleeding and pelvic pain.
Cancer Treatment: Interventional oncology is a growing field within IR, offering treatments like tumor ablation, chemoembolization, and radioembolization. These procedures allow for targeted treatment of cancerous tumors in the liver, lungs, kidneys, and other organs, reducing damage to healthy tissues.
Liver and Biliary Diseases: Conditions like bile duct obstruction or liver tumors can be treated with minimally invasive IR procedures, improving liver function and alleviating symptoms without the need for extensive surgery.
Kidney Stones: Patients with large or complex kidney stones that cannot be treated with traditional methods can benefit from IR procedures like percutaneous nephrolithotomy, which provides a minimally invasive way to remove stones.
Leading Interventional Radiologists in Jaipur
Jaipur is home to a number of highly skilled interventional radiologists who are recognized for their expertise and innovation. Among them, Dr. Nikhil Bansal, a renowned interventional radiologist, has made significant contributions to the field. His clinic, Endovascular Expert, is a leading center in Jaipur offering treatments for conditions like varicose veins, vascular diseases, and other complex medical conditions.
Dr. Bansal is known for his patient-centric approach, providing personalized treatment plans that focus on the least invasive yet most effective methods. His expertise in endovascular treatments—procedures that involve the repair or reconstruction of blood vessels through minimally invasive techniques—has helped numerous patients avoid traditional surgery and experience quicker recoveries.
Why Choose an Interventional Radiologist in Jaipur?
For patients seeking advanced medical care, Jaipur offers several advantages:
Accessibility: With numerous well-equipped hospitals and clinics, patients do not need to travel to metropolitan cities like Delhi or Mumbai for specialized care. Jaipur provides the same level of expertise and technology in a more accessible setting.
Cost-effective treatments: Interventional radiology in Jaipur are often more affordable compared to traditional surgeries and treatments in other cities. This makes it an attractive option for both local and international patients seeking high-quality care at reasonable costs.
High success rates: The minimally invasive nature of IR procedures often leads to high success rates, faster recoveries, and fewer complications compared to conventional surgeries.

As Jaipur continues to evolve into a healthcare destination, interventional radiologists in the city are playing a key role in providing advanced, minimally invasive treatments. Uterine Fibroid Embolization Devices Market Analysis & Key Business Strategies by Leading Industry Players
Global Uterine Fibroid Embolization Devices Market: Description
Uterine fibroid embolization (UFE) is a minimally invasive treatment used to treat fibroid tumors in the uterus. The uterine fibroid embolization procedure is also sometimes referred as a uterine artery embolization (UAE). UFE is also been used to treat other complications such as placenta accreta, placenta previa and arteriovenous malformations of the pelvis. Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumor growths in the walls of the uterus (intramural fibroids), within the uterine cavity (sub mucosal fibroids) or on the serosal surface of uterus (subserosal fibroids). These fibroid tumors are also known as myomas and it is very rare for them to turn into cancerous tumors. The symptoms associated with these utreal fibroid tumors include heavy menstrual bleeding, pain in the back of legs, anemia, constipations, pain in the pelvic region, pressure on the bowel or bladder and other debilitating symptoms. Usually, uterine fibroids affect around 20% to 40% of women who are aged over 35 years.
Read Report Overview: https://www.transparencymarketresearch.com/uterine-fibroid-embolization-devices-market.html
The most common treatment options that are commercially available in the market for uterine fibroids include myomectomy (surgical removal of the fibroids) and hysterectomy (removal of entire uterus). The other treatment options that have shown moderate efficacy with some unwanted side effects in treating uterine fibroids include hormone therapy, myolysis (use of thermal energy to kill fibroid tissue), endometrial ablation and ultrasound therapy. In a typical UFE procedure, healthcare professionals use an x-ray camera known as fluoroscope to deliver the small particles to the uterus and fibroids. These small particles are injected through a flexible and thin tube called a catheter. Further, these block the arteries that provide blood flow, causing the fibroids to shrink. Approximately 90 percent of women with fibroids are experiencing relief of their symptoms with UFE procedure.

Download PDF Brochure: https://www.marketsandmarkets.com/pdfdownloadNew.asp?id=185897830
The growth of the market is mainly attributed to factors such as the growth in the target patient population, rising preference for minimally invasive procedures, technological advancements in embolotherapy devices, and favorable reimbursement scenario.
The microspheres subsegment of embolic agents products to hold major market share by 2026
Based on product, the market is further segmented into embolization coils (detachable coils and pushable coils), embolic agents (liquid embolic agents and microspheres), detachable balloons, embolic plug systems, and support devices (microcatheters and guidewires). The microspheres subsegment of embolic agent products commanded the largest share of the embolotherapy market in 2020 and the trend is expected to continue by 2026. Market growth is driven by the surge in the prevalence of hepatocellular carcinoma (microspheres are widely used to treat this disease), coupled with favorable reimbursement criteria in developed economies. Moreover, new product launches and approvals are further supporting the growth of the segment.
The liver cancer segment is projected to hold the largest share of the market by application during the forecast period of 2021 to 2026
Based on application, the embolotherapy market is segmented into oncology (liver cancer, kidney cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, and other cancers), peripheral vascular diseases, urology, and nephrology (benign prostatic hyperplasia, uterine fibroids, and other urology & nephrology applications), neurology (brain aneurysm and cerebral arteriovenous malformations), and gastrointestinal disorders (GIT). The dominant share of this subsegment is attributed to the rising prevalence of liver cancer. 905,677 liver cancer cases were diagnosed globally in 2020 (Source: Globocan 2020). In the US alone, an estimated 34,000 new liver cancer cases are expected to be diagnosed each year (Source: CDC). Thus, the rising incidence of liver cancer is expected to fuel the growth of the segment in the next five years.
The transcatheter arterial radioembolization (TARE) segment is expected to register the highest growth rate during the forecast period
On the basis of procedure, the embolotherapy market is segmented into transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE), transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE), and transcatheter arterial radioembolization (TARE)/selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT). The transcatheter arterial radioembolization (TARE) segment is expected to register the highest growth rate during the forecast period of 2021 to 2026. The growth of this segment is attributed to the advantages offered by TARE/SIRT, such as better clinical outcomes as compared to TACE, a lesser degree of the post-embolization syndrome, and increased cancer survival rates as compared to other techniques.

Hospitals and clinics were the key end-users in the embolotherapy market
On the basis of end-users, the market is segmented into hospitals and clinics, ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), and other end users. In 2020, the hospital and clinics segment held the largest share of the market. The growing adoption of minimally invasive surgical procedures (including vascular, urological, and neurological procedures), increasing purchasing power of major healthcare providers across developed countries (owing to the consolidation of healthcare providers), and the greater availability of reimbursements for target procedures in the US and major European countries are the major factors that are expected to drive the demand for embolization devices in hospitals and clinics
North America is expected to dominate the global AST market in 2019
The embolotherapy market is segmented into North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, Latin America, and the Middle East, and Africa. North America is projected to hold the largest share of the regional market for embolotherapy products in 2020. The growing geriatric population, the increasing number of ASCs, and a growing preference for minimally invasive surgeries have resulted in the increasing adoption of embolotherapy procedures in the country.
The major players in the market include Boston Medical Corporation (US), Terumo Medical Systems (Japan), Medtronic (US), Johnson & Johnson (US), and Stryker Corporation (US). Other key players in the embolization therapy market include Sirtex Medical Limited (US), Abbott Laboratories (US), Acandis GmbH (Germany), Balt (France), Cook Medical (US), Kaneka Corporation (Japan), Penumbra, Inc.
