me n @mistashowboat have been talking a ton about there being a twitstan community in the aaverse but heres some of my fav random things:

-there are multiple franziska stans (franstans) who have posted pictures of whip marks and/or blurry footage of them getting whipped. once someone else posted a video of franziska whipping someone outside the courtroom and a major franstan acc replied that that was them

-all of the comments on these type of posts r filled with things like "OMG THE QUEEN NOTICED YOU" "WHEN IS IT MY TURN <//3"

-franziska posts updates to her "collection", being a massive list of people she has blocked.

-there are 'slime tutorials' like how musicals have for courtroom cases. there are also live update accs, which usually tend to have one or two ppl attending every case of a specific lawyer n liveblogging them all

-there is a bunch of discourse about slime tutorial vs liveblog followers and which is more "ethically correct" to consume

-there is also a ton of rpf discourse, the regular rpf discourse about writing rpf of the lawyers and a whole other layer about when that rpf involves the actual cases

-there is. so much discourse between prosecutor and defendant stans. you open any one stan blog and at least half their posts will have a stan of the opposition trying to fight them

-there is a major split between the pro wrightworth and anti-wrightworth edgeworth stans, and they constantly get in their own wars

-someone once wrote a phoenix x defendant fic and got witchhunted for it only for it to get revealed that they were the defendant

-franziska and edgeworth both have twitter and regularly publicly bicker

-some person makes a tweet about how miles and fran are totally a couple and gets replied to from BOTH miles and fran. both of them are just going what the fuck.

-maya runs the official Wright and Co. twitter account, it is usally more professional or casual things but she will semi often post silly pictures of phoenix or dumb shit he says

-she has a personal twt as well and is semi well known bcs of her relation with phoenix. she once replied to a public roleplay of her and phoenix with 'I would not fucking say that.'

-Maya also has a nickstan account

-Phoenix is blissfully unaware any of this exists- someone once came up to him and asked for a selfie and he was so confused but agreed and posed very awkwardly like ✌ with them. this person turned out to run a big phoenix stan blog

-there are tumblr gifsets made with courtroom footage

-both maya and edgeworth run steel samurai update accounts that are practically competing with each other. neither of them knows its the other running it

-godot also has a twitter, he uses it exclusively to fight with the wright and co twit

-there is very old footage of phoenix playing elle woods in highschool theater, it eventually gets found and unleashed upon stantwit

-there is an edit replacing all of his objections with the clip of elle saying i object in legally blonde

-there is also an edit using footage of him getting whipped by franziska to whipped into shape

Franziska and Edgeworth are so interesting because for all accounts on paper SHE’S the more accomplished and prestigious one, she’s an international prosecutor who got her law license 7 years younger than he did etc, and she pretends it’s true and he humours her.

But deeper down she knows he’s smart in a way she isn’t AS good at and that drives her NUTS. And not a small part of it is her own self worth issues comparing herself to an impossible-to-legally-achieve-standard set by her dad, and the general existence as a young girl/woman in the public eye in a male dominated field, but you know it’s also partially her and Miles looking at evidence and he just…figures it out like a magic trick while she can’t. Or at least it will take a longer (Again, she was SO MUCH YOUNGER then him it’s not fair to compare them when they were “competing” at those ages).

And Franziska is better and smarter then her brother at many things, but she isn’t better at EVERYTHING and that grinds her gears so much haha. And I think there’s this meta that was going around that that “Franziska is a better lawyer when she’s using her OWN techniques rather then falling back in her dad’s” I can recall the exact details of but I think she’s so blinded by her own perceived shortcomings she can’t see her strengths. Like her declaring she “isn’t a genius” at the end of AA2, is of course incorrect on its face, she at the very least is very good at studying and learning facts past the ability of the average person, but she feels like she doesn’t have the same “natural instincts” maybe? that Miles has and her dad had? But her own “natural instincts” have not been nurtured enough for her to trust them so she feels like she doesn’t have them?. The whole “technician vs performer”* dichotomy that Miles also is on one side of when he’s pared with anyone other then Fran haha

(Tho, I wonder if it’s Miles’ skill at investigating or his skill in the courtroom (or both???) that she feels left behind by? The Investigations Games makes it seem like 1. Miles is special and smart at Investigating but 2. he’s even MORE impressive (or seems more self assured) IN the courtroom if Kay’s reaction to him in court at the end of AAI1 is to be believed? He seemed to have stopped going out to crime scenes himself at a certain point, as he did in his first case and wasn’t doing it by AA1. He’s the hardest prosecutor to tangle with that isn’t like, 100% cheating lol so him being a terror in the courtroom with just his mean mean words vs Fran needing her whip and all that…)

(Also, which of them has the better EQ I wonder? Both have their moments but both can be…so bad at it. Maybe Miles is better at knowing the emotional state of people he’s close to vs Fran knowing how to deal with strangers (when she’s not whipping them??) or they both have such huge blind spots it’s hard to say who’s ahead lol)

I think the tricky thing with comparing the skill levels of the characters is that in most of the Edgeworth vs Franziska situations, Edgeworth has to win, usually because he's the player character (in Bridge and in Investigations - there's no game if Franziska figures out the case before you, the player, do) or Franziska's role in the story means she has to lose (Big Top being an example, where Edgeworth figures out the key to the case behind the scenes, because Phoenix is the player character, he's on Phoenix's side, and Phoenix has to win). As well, Edgeworth's always at least one game ahead on character development than Franziska; when she takes the "opponent" role she automatically has to fall behind, and she's always in that role.

And like you mentioned it's hard to compare when Franziska has naturally been behind Edgeworth her entire life by virtue of being seven years younger, and is only just catching up in terms of maturity by the original trilogy (though there's still quite the mental difference between 18 and 25), but at the same time Franziska being able to pass the Bar at thirteen and maintain her cases well enough to keep her record until Phoenix automatically puts her as a genius.

I always had the impression that, at least to Franziska, winning meant getting praise or attention from her father. We can sort of see this in Turnabout Reminiscence when MvK mentions being there to see Edgeworth's first trial, and Franziska immediately asks if he'll go to see hers, which he's ambivalent to. This is veering into personal interpretation territory but I kind of had the sense that MvK was more invested in getting his perfect revenge on Gregory by raising his son to be the perfect prosecutor, and this would manifest in what seemed like MvK caring more about Edgeworth's career than Franziska's, and Franziska had to compete with him for the attention and usually lost.

Also, I feel Franziska's insecurities about being "left behind" are less about some objective measure of her being "not as good" as Edgeworth, and more that she's more emotionally dependent on Edgeworth than he is to her. She describes their relationship as Edgeworth "always [leaving] me alone and [walking] on ahead without me", and we don't get the details of specific incidents, we can kind of extrapolate that Franziska has always wanted to be closer to him but is very, very bad at expressing that outside of "Miles Edgeworth I Will Defeat You."

She does seem to tie a good amount of her relationship with Edgeworth to her relationship with prosecuting, too, given how when Edgeworth gives up his badge in aai2 her instant reaction is "So you're leaving me behind again?" So I think that her skill in prosecuting + her father's legacy and her relationship with him + defeating Edgeworth + her relationship with Edgeworth are all tied together really messily and it expresses itself in her perfectionist tendencies that she'll never really be satisfied with. No matter how good she is in court she'll never win as much of her father's approval as she wants, and that's not going to make her and Edgeworth closer as siblings, either, and she's not emotionally at a point where she can fully realize that throughout the trilogy, I think.

(I also think it's worth noting that while Franziska refers to him as her little brother, as far as I can tell she doesn't do that to Edgeworth's face, and Edgeworth doesn't ever refer to her as his sister. She doesn't call him that during Reminiscence, either. There's all sorts of interesting implications you can play around with with that.)

As far as emotional intelligence goes... I think Edgeworth has to win because of having the leg up on character development arc, and also for that one scene at the end of Bridge where Edgeworth can deduce that Maya is trying to be strong for Pearl while Franziska can't comprehend it. (There is the moment in Reminiscence when Kay is crying and Franziska tells Edgeworth to comfort her, but Edgeworth was having flashbacks to his father's death at the time, so he wasn't at his most aware.)

I don't think I've seen the meta you're talking about but I do find it interesting how Franziska was working with Interpol in the Investigations games, and I think that's an interesting direction to take for her character. It's distinct both from what her father and Edgeworth are doing and is a good chance for her to figure out her own identity as a prosecutor without being in the shadows of either of them. And she's overall more emotionally stable in the AAI games than in JFA, I think at least partially as a result of that. (though that's not saying a lot. she was not in a good place in JFA.) (and also she's, like, 19, so she's still got a long way to go in emotional maturity.)

If we ever see Franziska in later games, it would be interesting to do a comparison, since there's way less of a gap in brain development and emotional maturity between 28 and 35 compared to 18 and 25. ... But I don't have a lot of faith that Capcom would care about how Franziska would have matured over the last decade if they made AA7, so. Maybe not.

hmm.. ok... ill tell u i dont have too much brainrot about franziska + maya so i dont think about them TOO much i just think theyre funny and the best pair for each other BUT.

i think their relationship wouldve be really interesting if they ever fleshed it out which they WONT ever do that but it wouldve been GREAT if they had more than 2 lines. but whatever. 3 points ill say are

and how theyre both alike and different (also im just transporting it from my brain so it may not make that much sense but like u know)

theyre the same age. maya says some shit like wow...shes my age but shes so much more mature and strong. maya still feels like a teenager at 18, franziska feels as if she is an adult. maya had more leeway in this in fact i would say she is the opposite of franziska in this regard. maya was much more sheltered than franziska was. I mean, look at pearl. morgan is pearls mother yea but even so living in kurain heavily shelters you. really i doubt maya knew too much about the outside world until the time we meet her. shes immature. but so is franziska. franziska was simply forced to grow up too fast. she was constantly reminded she was too young and she learned to surpass that by acting older than she was. but we KNOW she is immature. she has outburts and she cant really control her temper. her best resort is..whipping people. theyre both immature teenagers who were simply raised in different environments. and maya doesnt seem to care much on how others perceive her. shes goofy, shes fun! shes not an old fart like phoenix. shes young and shes happy to be! franziska is the opposite. shes stern, shes serious. she despises people not taking her seriously. she wants them to think she is a mature adult just as her brother is and just as her father is. she wants to be older and so she tries to hide her immaturity!

they both have their legacies hanging over their heads. franziska constantly had the von karma name putting pressure on her. she had to be perfect like her father, and she had to work hard for it. anything other than perfection = not an option. she was essentially groomed from a young age to be the perfect prosecutor. maya constantly had the fey name putting pressure on her. she was the only member of the clan who could be master. this pressure amplified once mia had left. but for maya, she had plenty of time to .. live. she only really started her training at 17 years old, and only at 28 has she mastered it! maya never exactly had that pressure that franziska had for perfection... however both of them feared letting down their family name. also both their predecessors had died, leaving them to realize that their legacies really didnt mean anything anymore. they became what their legacy destined them to be (maya=master,fran=prosecutor) but... a little bit to the left. someone of their own. edgeworth as an example throughout all of aai2 wonders if he should go in his fathers footsteps. and he makes the decision to stay a prosecutor... and just be his own kind of prosecutor that finds the truth. this is basically the complete opposite of what fran and maya do. they DO follow in their parents footsteps. but they make it their own.

franziska and maya both have ... TRAUMA. the way they deal with it is very alike and very different. both of them bottle it up and try to stay strong. but when something happens to maya, she acts like its all chill. everythings ok. shes okay. she acts fun and upbeat so that nobody can see anything is wrong. she keeps it to herself. franziskas way of bottling it up is she hardens herself. she doesnt let anyone touch her or get through to her. she acts rude and abrasive so that nobody can see anything is wrong. she keeps it to herself. tho i would say maya is better at hiding her true emotions abt these things... as like i said franziska has many outbursts. also, franziska hasnt really had much of a support system. she has edgeworth, sure, but im sure as soon as she hit 12 years old her pride got too high to talk to him about anything like that. maya has usually had someone to depend on and talk to. she had mia, then mia died, but then she had phoenix and she has pearly and she has some of the individuals shes met on her escapades! she does have people to talk to... she just doesnt. but unlike franziska its not because of pride i think she just doesnt want others to worry for her

anyways yeah some of this might be heading into just hc territory but yah. there you go. some of this may not tie together at all but also im tired so um LOL there u go

Ok so as usual im thinking about ace attorney investigations but this time its about Kay and how they end up with such a crazy mess of a family and how funny it would be if Kay just introduced the people in it as something different to every person they meet. Some examples:

Edgeworth: Dad, mentor, old friend, partner in crime solving 1, boss, theif assistant, old man, aunts brother, dad i adopted

Sebastian: sibling, bestie, best friend, platonic life partner, partner in crime, partner in solving crime 3

Gumshoe: uncle gummy, dad number 3, boss's assistant, partner in solving crime 2, gummy, best pal

Justine: mother once removed, aunt court, aunt justine, best judge, ex client

Pheonix: dad's husband, dad 2, boss's husband, 'that man', *insert edgeworth's name here*'s man

Lang: agent wolf, uncle wolf, uncle furry, wolf man, wolfie

Trucy: Sister, partner in crime in training, little theif in training, apprentice

Franziska: Aunt franny, aunt fran, scary whip lady, dad's sister, big sister, boss 3, boss's sister,

Kay just living for the chaos of no one understanding the family dynamic and where half the people fit in it.

Sebastian does that same thing but more for "worried people wouldn't understand" or "worried the person would be mad at being referred to that way" or "made a mistake and realised way to late" related reasons

-before moving to a new appt miles always makes sure to check if the buildings are built with earthquakes in mind

- edgeworth sometimes sees mvk in franziska. he hates it so much but he also sometimes sees it in himself. miles go to therapy challenge but he works so hard on forgiving himself and fran

- phoenix was the one who found miles' letter; it was on his desk. phoenix still has it, crumpled in the pocket of some old pants he never wears anymore. he cant find it but when he does he will burn it

- iris and phoenix are on good terms!!! i Do not like feenris because it doesnt really make sense to me but i like to think that phoenix tried to help iris when he could

- maya and pearl make yearly trips to the temple where bridge to the turnabout was to speak to misty

- edgeworth used to be reminded of dl6 whenever he saw maya or pearl but he now realizes that its not their fault. heck it wasnt even mistys fault. some bad things happened, and he knows better than anyone that you cant blame someone because of who their family is

-OK less sad but edgeworth is the little spoon

-he loves affection even when he doesnt show it in his pompous little bastard way

-maya hasnt channeled mia since bridge to the turnabout and shes ok with that. she misses her but she also knows mia would want them to move on

-GAME NIGHT WITH THE WRIGHTS maya is SO competitive and phoenix constantly has to ask miles to get him out of sticky situations

-edgeworth has the biggest sweet tooth rivaled only by maya

- he will occasionally carry a little candy tin in his pocket

-fran and maya have date nights where they each choose a place to eat and fran always chooses super fancy places and maya chooses little hole in the wall places and at first they were both uncomfy with each other's choices but now maya loves getting all dressed up and eating fancy stuff and fran doesnt mind getting some good homecooked meals

- also both the von karma siblings are bad at cooking because they were never really taught, mvk had cooks and stuff to make food for them so fran gets private lessons with maya and phoenix teaches miles how to cook the best he can lmao

-edgeworth is always very cold and phoenix is like a goddamn heater so they always are at equilibrium when they are close together

- also occasionally edgeworth will poke phoenix with his cold ass feet when theyre sleeping and phoenix will shriek so loud they get noise complaints

-phoenix has a full laugh that brightens a room. he'll start laughing at anything and then suddenly itll be funny as hell. edgeworth usually starts with a little "hm" and then will laugh a little and then compose himself, but when things are really funny he'll laugh and then start wheezing and it makes phoenix laugh even harder

-maya will also start laughing at anything her laugh is bright and she laughs in little bits and pieces. a fran laugh is rare but she will often just let out a loud "HA" and startle everyone as she continues to laugh

- there wasnt much place or time to laugh in the von karma household so both fran and miles take a while to laugh, but theyre learning!

- the gang LOVES to celebrate bdays. ANYONES. gumshoes. mayas. penny from the turnabout samurai case. heck even mia and gregory!

okay actually these were more than the last one but!!! my god these are SM fun to come up with!!! i hope they bring u joy

YOUR BTTT THOUGHTS TOO!!! all very good, i love the idea of them going to visit the temple and staying in contact with iris, i think that is so lovely and wonderful and the thing about maya not having channeled mia since then is so appropriate and in-character and fitting with the narrative truly capcom should hire you.

also also the franmaya stuff... so good. i love when women are in Lesbians with each other. and the descriptions of everyone’s laughs made me smile so much they were wonderful and so so accurate. thank you for the food.

DadWorth AU: Part 1 (Pre-Trilogy)

I’ve been thinking about that one post I made a while ago about Edgeworth becoming Kay’s legal guardian after Turnabout Reminiscence, so here’s an outline of what happens with that.

So, it all starts with Edgeworth going to actually check if Kay was alright after Reminiscence and the whole gunshot. And then he gets an idea in the back of his mind to take her in. He has no idea why he does this, but its mostly because he sees himself in Kay and doesn’t want her to go through what he did (something he will never admit)

He consults Badd about this. Although there is an initial back and forth between the two, Badd eventually does agree that he should take custody of her. (He would do himself, but Yew is still out there, and he’s afraid that she would go after Kay if she was with him. Yew would never suspect that Kay would be with Edgeworth.) The only condition on Edgeworth’s part is that Badd does whatever it takes to keep von Karma from finding out about it.

If von Karma finds out, Miles isn’t sure what he’s going to do to him or to Kay. (Miles is terrified of von Karma, but will never admit it... yet.) Badd agrees to keep it under wraps and helps him through with the process. So, Edgeworth becomes Kay’s official guardian.

The only ones who know that Edgeworth is Kay’s guardian initially are Badd and Gumshoe -- the latter proving to be very helpful because Miles is new at this and has no idea what to do, and Gumshoe is ridiculously good with kids.

Franziska eventually does find out and teases Miles for it. He makes her swear to not tell her father about this, and after some deliberation, she agrees.

So, Franziska becomes cool Aunt Fran (though she’s more like an older sister than an aunt, but the name stuck.). She teaches Kay how to speak German on the side.

Kay becomes a little more interested in law than canonically thanks to being surrounded by lawyers and detectives. She gets an interest in trials, and asks Miles if she can come and see his when she learns he’s finally gonna get to stand in the courtroom. He agrees, under the condition that Kay both finish her homework and get her room cleaned.

Miles doesn’t expect her to actually be able to fulfill her end of the deal. But alas, she does. He doesn’t mind... at first. Because as we all know, that first case does not end well. At all. Because its Turnabout Beginnings.

Edgeworth freaks out again after calming down from what just happened, because Kay saw all of that. So, he goes out to find her. Luckily, Kay is with Gumshoe -- he kept her from seeing what had happened to Fawles. Miles is surprised that Kay turns to comfort him when she sees that he was scared. (something that he will deny to this day), but this is also the first time that Miles feels any sort of paternal instinct, and something slowly starts to awaken.

keep in mind, though: what Kay sees Mia do out there to help Fawles does stick with her a little bit. Gumshoe explains that’s what defense attorneys are supposed to do. They’re not all like Yew. Under Miles’s nose, Kay does start to idolize Mia after reading about her case the following year, and starts to follow her career a bit.

Miles eventually does decide that Kay needs a few friends her own age when Gumshoe brings up that she isn’t doing very well at that in school. And then he learns that another detective has a younger sister around Kay’s age who is also having trouble making friends.

Needless to say, with two people conspiring together, Kay becomes rather good friends with Ema Skye -- much to Miles’ and Lana’s relief. ...until they get into all sorts of trouble, and there is a little bit of regret. But its better than the alternative.

Fast forward a little bit and it’s 2015. Ema and Lana invite Kay out to dinner, and Miles agrees since he’s busy himself (the only condition is that Kay gets her homework done before hand, which is the usual condition that Kay has to agree to before she goes out anywhere, so to her it’s not a big deal.)

And then Miles gets a call from Lana later that night that has him booking it to criminal affairs.

Yeah... Kay’s involved in SL-9. She was there with Ema when she was attacked. Both girls come out unhurt -- thank god -- but it still scared Miles half to death. This is why Miles takes the case -- because of what happened to Kay. It’s something that he never clarifies on, which catches the attention of von Karma. Miles was insistent on the matter, and gave no explanation why whatsoever. So he’s careful. A little too much. The whole Demon Prosecutor stuff starts, and all the rumors surrounding Edgeworth also begin to make their appearance.

Miles doing his best to throw himself into his work to keep von Karma’s eye off of him puts a strain on his relationship with Kay. He does what little he can, but it’s hard when he’s overly stressed by multiple outside forces. Kay keeps pushing, but it does little to actually break that wall. Edgeworth eventually does start to open back up, but it’s not enough,

Things are fine -- even if they are a little bit more distant -- between Edgeworth and Kay from there on. For the next year and a half, nothing really changes. Kay keeps trying, and Edgeworth’s affection dwindles as he becomes more jaded due to the media and von Karma’s involvement in his career.

Change comes about when Kay starts high school and Miles gets a new case on his desk that involves an old name that he hadn’t heard in years.

And that takes us into Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney.

I want to go on with this into the games and those events, as well as the ripple effect this causes with the Investigation games. I have a lot of ideas in mind. This is just an outline, so I apologize if things don’t make sense either.

I’m just thinking about this a lot and want to share ideas.

this conversation is very very very interesting. i like phoenix emphasizing “i go to court to save peoples’ LIVES” a LOT. it works in two ways. it’s a reminder to edgeworth, that phoenix became an attorney because he believed in what edgeworth told him in school, all that about the duty of man to society and the ability to protect the weak. it is also a way for phoenix to take a swing at edgeworth, because he thinks edgeworth’s reason for...we will say edgeworth’s reason for Running Away for the moment, is that he was driven by his own pride and losing that pride ruined him. PHOENIX doesn’t fight for his own ego, he boasts, phoenix fights for something NOBLE, something MEANINGFUL. he strikes fear into the hearts of evildoers, etc etc.

saying this sets up both edgeworth’s impression of phoenix (Doesn’t Get It Yet) and the point of the case (deconstructing this goal). this is a case where phoenix did, in fact, take on a guilty client, and where he DOES have to defend him in court, and it is the absolute most miserable time of his life. he has to decide between The Truth and His Client (and maya. maya is a big factor here. but...well she is the Damsel In Distress again here and i think that is a very annoying decision but whatever) and this decision is left up to the player, iirc, where you decide what to say and are interrupted no matter what you chose with the evidence that prevents you from seeing the outcome of a very very challenging ethical decision. (this evidence that makes thinking about the consequences of working within this legal system moot is something that happens in aa a lot lol) the outcome you get is the truth coming to light over winning. this is...”the right answer”, in the game, i think its fair to say. this is, at least, the answer that edgeworth’s come up with. this is the truth as he understands it.

edgeworth does the same thing mia does in 2-2, though, and decides to let phoenix come to that realization on his own. (this is a gameplay thing, i know, the player needs to figure things out etc etc) though, like he is with fran, he is VERY smug about it. not smug. condescending. he is cryptic, as usual, and he says phoenix has more to learn. and phoenix is insulted by that! phoenix being insulted is really fun, too! another thing with multiple meanings! he’s pissed at edgeworth for a number of reasons, and edgeworth implying he knows better than phoenix is just as infuriating to him as it was to fran. (phoenix and fran have a lot in common, and they both get really mad when someone points it out. you can have a conversation with acro to this effect where he says they have the same glint in their eyes, that they look at the world with the same color-tinted glasses, which is just a DELICIOUS morsel to me. thats another conversation im just thinking about it again hehe) who the hell is EDGEWORTH to know better about ANYTHING than ANYONE? but, also like franziska, this is a revolt of phoenix’s pride! it’s a fun moment of hypocrisy, where he hates edgeworth for clinging to his foolish pride, and yet clinging to his foolish pride here immediately leads him down The Path Of Pain. there is a lot to learn about the world. if you show pearl things she doesn’t have a response for, she says she’s still learning, and it is a good thing to keep that in mind, and it’s something that isn’t really on phoenix’s mind here. he is just indignant, and edgeworth is evasive, and this conversation is overall a little bit of a mess. and i love that in a conversation

Mia basically tells Phoenix he is powered by friendship and its his strongest weapon. SHE AGREES WITH ME HE IS A MAGICAL GIRL.

Never forget that Phoenix just threw a cell phone. Across the courtroom. At Edgeworth’s head. Yelling “EDGEWORTH CATCH.” This happened in a court of law.

My friend was actually playing this part when I lent her the game and we voiced characters and when I did Mia’s “Yes. You do.” Response here I made sure to do it in a COMPLETELY DONE voice because she looks so done. This was Phoenix’s internal monologue too so she just must have been able to read it on his face or something “YES PHOENIX YOU ARE STILL INTO HIM THAT HAS BEEN OBVIOUS TO EVERYONE FOREVER. My sister has been kidnapped can you DO YOUR GAY AGONIZING LATER???” It’s so hard to be Mia.

But... A man appeared and stood fast against that selfish me. I fought him in my usual manner, and tasted my first defeat. Like there’s so much in this conversation like her feelings of abandonment and  she just wants to be acknowledged so badly by people and even Miles just sort of ignored her and didn’t treat her like a rival or equal because he was wrapped up in his own shit. 

It’s pretty clear from how she talks she both just really wants the attention of her remaining family but also resents him so much after being pitted against him for years thanks to her father…She had to work so hard and also pretend it was all easy for her and she was confident and just felt inadequate the whole time…and her emphasis on “that “girl” you left behind….” Indicates she  felt there was gender component to how her father neglected her and why people weren’t noticing her…

THERE’S TOO MUCH TO SAY ABOUT HER I CAN’T DO IT RIGHT NOW. I GUESS I’LL JUST SUMMARIZE THEIR CONVERSATION.
