So I have some ideas for some fics but not sure if they are anything anyone wants to read or if they are something that's been done/overdone. Would you like to see series or one shots or maybe just like one or two part stories. Let me know your thoughts.
***Edited to add #7***
1. You meet Christian while he's on international duty in the States. Both of you are on the shy/introverted side, but with the help of both of your friends (and some alcohol) you come out of your shells.
2. You and Christian share mutual friends and while you don't hate each other, you don't necessarily get along either. But when you find yourself in an uncomfortable situation on a night out, he comes to the rescue.
3. You are a single mom, I was thinking to a younger boy that has been invited to an elite training camp for the USMNT developmental program. Christian wasn't supposed to be there, but because of a last minute schedule change he is. You meet and he becomes infatuated with you. You figure it's nothing more than a conquest/fling, but maybe he sees it differently.
4. You meet Christian through a research project you are working on highlighting mental health issues/coping strategies of high profile athletes. You start out as acquaintances, but develop a friendship and things evolve from there.
5. You and Christian had been dating for a while when he gets cold feet and backs out. He thinks you hate the pressure of being with him and breaks up with you for your own good in his mind. It's not necessarily an amicable split, but not overly messy either. You both still have feelings for one another but you are both stubborn and think you are doing what's best for the other by staying away. Maybe one of his teammates pulls some strings to play Cupid in an attempt to get you back together.
6. You work for Chelsea, and are close with a few of the guys. They all know that you and Christian like each other but neither of you will make a move because you are scared of ruining your friendship. (I actually have this one nearly completely written, but I'm not sure I like it)
7. You attend a USMNT match, maybe your first as his girlfriend. He's named as captain for that night and is being extra feisty on the pitch which just turns you on even more. After the match is over, he gives you his jersey and you request that he brings the armband home as well. (I feel like this one would be extra spicy.)
I would also love holiday ideas since I'm sucker for holiday fluff 😍
And to the anon that sent me the request about meeting his parents, I'm working on that one already. Hope to have it done soon!
My brain is running wild with scenarios, but I have no idea if they are worth pursuing 😅

there is never a dull day in the usmnt community, and december 11th of 2022 proved that to a T
(very long post; updated info will be added if necessary)
honestly in my opinion, this situation was messier than the weston situation and that is saying A LOT
SO it was just a regular degular sunday until this tweet by the men in blazers came out and started this entire fire. there is an article under it and it was basically about greggory (gregg berhalter) and the statements he made at the HOW Institute for Society's Summit on Moral Leadership. below is what he said
Tumblr media Tumblr media
if you don't (or can't) want to read that it's basically greggory saying that there was an issue with ONE of the 26 players at this world cup within the team. and obviously because usmnt twitter is messy everyone started to say that gio reyna was the player he was talking about because of the drama during the world cup (background info coming soon)
also there's this from berhalter regarding those ^ statements
Tumblr media
but anyways
background: during this world cup, gio played very little which many did not expect considering he is quote unquote one of the better players on the team. so there was a little bit of drama where it was kind of like a "he said, he said" thing but the he's are saying completely different things
so after the usa vs wales game, gio was an unused sub. out of the subs used jordan morris was one of them which raised A LOT of eyebrows and questions. gregg's reasoning:
"In the phase of the game we were at, we went with Jordan who we felt could give us speed and power".
again, raised eyebrows because gio can give the u.s that as well. but we move.
matters only got worse ^ when gregg had said to the press that gio was dealing with some issues injury wise (probably muscle tightness or something like that) and then gio was like... i'm good fam. and said that he was 100% fit and was good to play. which caused EVEN MORE confusion during that time. and it didn't help that eric wynalda (former us player) hopped on a twitter spaces saying that gregg told gio to lie about his fitness and was comforting his dad (claudio) on the phone..
but anyways NOW BACK TO THE MESS
so in the midst of that men in blazers tweet, a "big" usmnt fan account tweeted about how gio and tyler had to be separated during training. we have no clue if this is 100% true or not, but at this point it sounded very believable
Tumblr media
so now at this point people are all over the place. people are calling gio an entitled brat, there's a group of people who are 100% on gio's side and a group is 100% for gregg. and then were reasonable people (like me) who saw the two truths in this:
yes, gio should've been held accountable for his actions and his behavior during the camp
no, gregg should not have brought any of this information to the public (even if he didn't specifically say which player it was)
then to add more fuel to this blazing fire, the athletic comes out with an article regarding the situation
which kinda makes me 🤔 because the fact that they had this typed up and ready to go and dropped it in the fire...
but anyways. the article had to be updated with certain information because news kept coming out after it was published but i'll get into that in a bit
so the main takeaways in the article
gio's lack of involvement at the world cup was due to him showing a lack of effort in training (prior the wales game) and even before that, in the scrimmage game against al gharafa sc
it wasn't clear whether his lack of effort was because he was trying to look out for himself (because he is very injury prone, second to pulisic methinks) or if he was just being a fussy baby because he wasn't going to be a starter in their opening game vs wales
gio threw his shinguards after not being a sub during the wales game, his lack of effort in training continued after that (which resulted in teammates deandre yedlin and aaron long telling him to you know.. chill out a bit and to show more effort)
the issue had to be brought up multiple times, gio stood up and apologized to the group for his lack on effort (before a video session)
after he apologized, some of the players on the team spoke up and i guess let gio know about himself (held him accountable, probably telling him what he already knew)
updated information i mentioned before. gio's agent, dan segal, provided a statement to the athletic:
"Gio obviously did not have the experience anyone hoped for at the World Cup. The situation, relationships and interactions among parties are far more complicated than what has been reported. It is disappointing and disrespectful for certain parties to be commenting on private team matters publicly, especially when some do so without full knowledge of the facts and others do so in a self-serving manner."
"At this point, our view is that nothing more is gained by those associated with the national team turning on each other, and we plan no further comment on this matter."
so the issue was supposed to end there right??
❌WRONG❌
because THE INFORMATION FROM THE SUMMIT GREGG ATTENDED WAS SUPPOSED TO BE OFF THE RECORD
(also those who gave the info to the athletic were anonymous)
so now EVERYONE is getting in on the drama and tea, espn wrote an article on it which led to this tweet by some man named jason where he stated that there was a vote on whether to let gio stay at the camp or go home.
Tumblr media
13 voted for him to stay, 12 voted for him to leave 🌚 crazy right?
well apparently that was FALSE AND UNTRUE, according to ex usmnt player and slightly annoying pundit taylor twellman. he came out and said that the vote by the players was not true and did not happen (these were tweeted early this morning)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(ppl thought he was paid by ussoccer to say it wasn't true)
so at this point there has been tweet after tweet, twitter spaces that was the equivalent to a real housewives confessional (which some guy who weston follows was dropping some tea, some of it seemed fishy so idk but some of the stuff he said were believable), people calling for gregg's head, people still calling gio a brat and bringing up previous issues (like he apparently broke curfew during the u17 world cup), just pure hot garbage
until like..... two hours ago gio makes a statement!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
so now that we have come to the end of this (hopefully, probs not) im going to give my opinion on his statement and this mess overall
i agree with gio that this should have remained private because look at all the mess it caused
the fact that berhalter told him that his role was going to be very limited is VERY disappointing especially considering a lot of people were hoping for him to play a lot more than he did. especially since we were all on our knees praying to god that he wouldn't get injured prior to the world cup. so it is expected for gio to be upset about that and he has every right to be upset about that because he had that reoccurring injury and worked hard to stay fit for this big moment.
i appreciate gio acknowledging that he is an emotional person and saying that he let his emotions get the best of him because his attitude and emotions were a major point in this whole situation. so of course it would affect his training and overall behavior at the camp.
he apologized to the team and said that he was forgiven and that should've been the end of that but unfortunately it wasn't. hence the situation and this statement which is honestly not that bad for a 20 year old. yeah he misspelled devastated but i will ignore that.
the last sentence in his statement kind of hits though
"I hope that going forward each person involved in U.S. Soccer focuses only on what is in the best interest of the men's national team so we can enjoy great success at the World Cup in 2026."
to me this is a BIG slap to the face to everyone at ussoccer as a whole (coaches, higher ups, etc.)
and yeah. that's really it
it sucks that all of this garbage came out and honestly i wouldn't be surprised if gregg's contract doesn't get extended because of this. not like i wanted him to extend it anyways because berhalter ball can only get this team so far
but all of this could've been avoided. would it have gotten out eventually? for sure. but not even a week after the usmnt got knocked out? bro. the wound was "this close" to healing.
there is though some sort of closure regarding gio and his lack of minutes, i just wish it we didn't find out this way.
at some point it felt like all the fingers were being pointed at gio and all the blame and shame were pointed towards him, which for 20 year old is.. not. like i'm sure it doesn't feel good to be thrown under the bus like that especially by your manager.
at the end of the day. gio is a great player. he is a talented player, and he knows it. which sure can lead to an ego and whatever but he's also 20. like freshly 20 i still thought he was 19. his freaking parents are like ussoccer royalty, so of course he's gonna have a bit of a chip on his shoulder.
he just needs to mature in certain areas and gain professionalism in certain areas. which tbh, it's more of the maturity side and not letting his emotions get the best of him. because we have all seen him get frustrated and fiesty on the pitch.
i just hope that he can put this behind him and continue bettering himself and working on himself, both with his skills in the sport and off the pitch.
he still has a lot of fans who love and support him, i don't think anyone really is going to hate gio because of this unless they already didn't like him.
but yeah. again, that's it.
thanks for reading

bestie can you explain the gio situation everything i know is second hand
bestie I hope you're comfortable, because this is a NOVEL!! 😓
Okay sooo, this all started before the World Cup when Gregg Berhalter told Gio Reyna he was on the squad, but would have a "limited role" (he was just coming back from a hamstring injury so I kind of get it) and will probably not play much. Now Gio didn't like that and according to both him and Berhalter he didn't have the best attitude and lacked effort in training before/during the WC, which lead to some difficulties in camp, and they even considered sending him home!!!! They [Gio, Berhalter, other coaches] had a conversation about his behavior, and he apologized to them and also the whole team. He was forgiven and there were no other issues beyond that (this convo happened after the Wales game, but before England). Gio also said on instagram that he was told this situation would remain "in house" and that the public wouldn't know about it. This is the same precedent set by Berhalter when he didn't comment specifically as to why McKennie was sent home during World Cup Qualifying last fall.
"But if the public was never meant to know about it, then why do we know about it?" I'm SOO glad you asked 🙃 You see, literally DAYS after the US was eliminated from the WC, Berhalter spoke at a leadership summit and told this story. Now to his credit he never called out Gio Reyna by name, but there were already rumors swirling that they had issues during the tournament so it wasn't hard to put 2-and-2 together. ALSO while Gregg never said Gio's name, SOMEONE DID AND THEY TOLD THE WHOLE THING TO THE ATHLETIC and it bothers me so much that nobody talks about that 😡 Anyways, USMNT Twitter went into a frenzy, but after Gio's statement things calmed down for a while.
[TW for talks about DV]
UNTIL Berhalter releases a statement saying that someone was trying to BLACKMAIL him out of the head coach job (his contract ran out after the WC, but there was a chance it could be extended). He admits that when they were both in college he and his then girlfriend (now wife) had been drinking, they had an argument, and he kicked her in the legs. Now I think we can all agree that domestic violence of any kind is wrong regardless of how long ago it was, and that is not up for debate.
It was revealed in early January that the person who brought these allegations against Gregg was actually Danielle Reyna, Gio's mom, who was Rosalind Berhalter's roommate/teammate at UNC when the incident happened. She brought it up in an hour-ish long phone call with Earnie Stewart (who was the US Soccer Sporting Director at the time) because she was upset the her son was being dragged on the internet, said something like "if Gregg can be forgiven for that, then Gio can be forgiven for his behavior at the WC." After the news broke, she made a statement saying the call wasn't malicious in any way, that she and Claudio were talking on the phone with Earnie as a friend, and didn't think about the fact that he would have to report this.
Anyways, an investigation was held by US Soccer, and the full report (which is like 40 PAGES LONG btw😓😓) of it was just released yesterday. They concluded that it was a one-off incident and that Berhalter was still in the running to the the USMNT head coach. It also revealed that the Reynas, mainly Claudio, had been reaching out to US Soccer since 2016 with complaints/concerns about how Gio was treated (playing time, referee decisions, etc). As far as I could tell there was no evidence suggesting that their grievances were actually accommodated by US Soccer, so really they were just complaining to complain.
I saw a few unsavory quotes from the Reyna's circulating around Twitter, but being mean/shady people isn't necessarily a crime in my eyes. In my PERSONAL OPINION, it's unfair that Gio's character is being called into question because his parents have said/done some shady things, and I'm not going to hold him responsible for THEIR actions. In regards to Berhalter, I can understand his frustration with the Reyna's and it sucks that their friendship (which has lasted for literal DECADES) seems to have come to and end like this. However, I still don't want him as the head coach, but that's because I don't like his playing style/favoritism when he calls in certain players lol. As for the Reyna's, I think they need to stop talking and just let their son's talent speak for itself. ALSO this would have never happened if US Soccer wasn't such an old boy's club where they hire old US players who aren't qualified for the job, but that's a whole other issue LMAO 😂😂
Sorry this was long and kind of all over the place lol I clearly have a lot of thoughts about this. Anyways, this was the gist of it, hope it helps 😊

so, usmnt WILL NOT have a camp and/or matches because "it's not like they'd go very far even with it" but uswnt WILL PROBABLY have a camp, even just to train. "cause they are our champions and we wanna keep them in top shape and continue winning".
so us soccer, who denied them equal pay on the premise of them not BEING GOOD ENOUGH and/or NOT MAKING ENOUGH MONEY, would actually spend money to set up a camp (a bubble if you will) with no purpose other than to keep the team chemistry/fitness level going.
Oh I get it. I get it now. They werent lying when they said they don't hate women. They don't. They think they are amazing and can generate money, but they won't pay them what they deserve more cause they wanna keep maximizing that profit.

Comforting Hands
Christian Pulisic x Reader
Summary: Christian is having a tough time and sometimes it’s the little things that help.
MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
Christian has had the worst week. He scored an own goal on Sunday that cost Chelsea the game. He remembered that he wasn’t going to get to see his family on Christmas. He was late to training on Tuesday. He couldn’t sleep Wednesday night. USMNT called and said they were moving camp up a few days early. That now cuts his visit home short to only 1 full day. You had been gone for work for the week and weren’t scheduled to come home until after the game Saturday night.
Christian has talked to you about all of his struggles and failures. He has vented to you almost every night when you do your nightly calls. He was on the verge of a breakdown and that worried you.
You finished your meeting early on Friday and headed straight for the airport. You had been in America for your job. You are a part of a marketing team for a high end London outdoor business. You had to travel every couple of months to new location to shoot for ads, commercials, and social media content. You landed in London at 5 pm and knew you could still make it to the game. You weren’t originally supposed to land until 1130 pm so surprising Christian was going to be exciting.
You arrived to the game just as the game started. You sat in your seat wearing your blue jersey Christian gave you. All the other girlfriends and wives surrounded you. Since the game was moving slow, you all decided to catch up since it had been awhile since everyone was together. In the 65th minute, you saw a chance for Chelsea to score. You stood up with the rest of the crowd as Christian crossed it in to Tammy who headed the ball into the cross bar. Mason was right behind him to finish it and put the boys in blue on top 1-0. Shortly after, Christian missed a tackle and Liverpool got an equalizer. You could see Christians shoulders drop. He was disappointed in himself and pissed. In the 80th minute Lampard subbed Christian off. You could tell Christian wanted to play the full 90 to make up for his mistake. Knowing Christian was going to be upset when he got home, you decided to leave early and head home to surprise Christian.
On the way home you stopped at Mestizos and picked up an order of Tacos and Christians favorite burrito. Even though he was in season and would probably grab food from the teams chef, you decided cheating every once in a while didn’t do any harm.
When you got to yours and Christians shared apartment, you sat the food on the counter and took your bags into your shared room. You sat your bags in the corner of the room out of the way to be unpacked later. You added extra pillows to the bed and extra blankets. You grabbed Christians XBOX controller off of the charger and put it on his night stand as well as his head set. The lights you hung before you left were now turned on and add a soft, calm lighting to the room. You decided to change out of your jeans and into a pair of shorts and threw your hair into a messy bun.
When you walked into the kitchen to warm up your food, you heard a key in the lock. Christian walked in and looked around the apartment before sighing. He turned to walk towards the kitchen and that was when he saw you. He immediately dropped his bag and wrapped you in a hug and buried his face in your neck. You immediately hugged him back and whispered sweet words in his ear. After standing there for a couple of minutes, Christian pulled away and a gave you a small smile.
“I’m so glad you’re back. I missed you”
“I miss you too Christian” you smiled at him. “I have the perfect night planned for us to help you relax and take your mind off of everything.”
Christian looked at you confused. And then looked at the food next to him.
“Is that Mestizo?”
“It is. I picked it up after I left the game. I figured after the week you had, some good food may be good for the soul.”
He gave a small laugh before grabbing his food and giving you a kiss on the cheek. You both moved to sit on the stools next to the counter.
“Did you say you went to the game?”
“I did. I made it there at kickoff. I finished earlier than planned and decided to come home and surprise you”
“It was a much needed surprise. Thank you babe.”
You smiled at him. Conversation stayed flowing as Christian talked about the game and his frustrations and how he’s worried with the week he’s had, he’s going to lose his starting spot. You listened to him and gave advice and encouragement where needed. You just never gave him the false hope of “don’t worry. You won’t lose your spot.” You always kept it real with him. You told him “if you lose your spot, you just keep fighting back for it. Everyone is allowed to have bad days/weeks. For you, it was just an off week. You take tonight and tomorrow to relax and reset. Take a mental and physical break and go back at it Monday morning at training.” Christian looked at you like he wanted to believe you, but he couldn’t fully do that with the negativity still surrounding his thoughts.
“I have a surprise for you now. Come on.” You grabbed Christians hand and lead him to the bedroom. You smiled at him and told him to change into something more lazy. He turned and went into the closest as you went and sat in the center on the bed to lounge against all the pillows you had put down earlier. Christian came back in the room with shorts on and no top. You held your hands out to him and did the grabby hand signal. He sat on the edge of the bed before you opened your legs for him to sit between them. You handed him his controller and headset and had fortnite on the screen. He smiled at you and gave a small laugh before kissing you softly and thanking you. He layed back against your chest as your wrapped arms around him.
As time went on and Christian played his game, you could feel the tenseness leave his body. You cuddled him and traced his tattoos as he played. At some point you both ended up layed down and it was the perfect position for you the comfortably run your hand through his hair. You honestly didn’t know how long you had been doing it. It had to be at least 20 minutes. Christian finally got to a stopping point and turned off the game before throwing the controller and headset to the side before turning to you and giving you a quick kiss.
“Thank you for tonight. Thank you for listening. Giving great advice. For comforting me when I’m down. For laying here watching me play video games. Thank you for just being here and being you. I love you and appreciate you more than you’ll ever know.” He smiled at you before leaning in and capturing your lips again. The kiss was soft, sweet, and he put all of his love into this kiss.
“Christian, I’ll be with you always. Whenever you need me, I’ll always be right here.” You intertwined your fingers with his before pulling him to you to cuddle. He buried his face into your neck before sighing hard. “Go to sleep love. We can relax and decompress some more tomorrow.”
With a final kiss the his forehead, you both fell into a peaceful sleep. One Christian hadn’t had in a week.
Hey guys! I hope you liked the story! I don’t usually write fan fics. I usually just read them but I got this idea and had to put it to words. I’m sorry if the writing was horrible. I’ve never been the best with words.

USMNT September roster: Berhalter’s last squad before World Cup
USMNT September roster: Berhalter’s last squad before World Cup
There’s one camp to go. There’s now one more chance to gather, train, plan and play before the World Cup begins. And one more opportunity for men with uncertain status to make their case. U.S. national team coach Gregg Berhalter told the Associated Press last week in New York City that the list of 26 players he’ll take to Qatar is “about 85% settled.” That means there are four places undecided,…
