Ah, forget it, boyo. You’d as like have angels fly out your arse as to get next to the likes of her.

CREATOR SPOTLIGHT: Alice (@souloben)
Support your local gif makers! In celebration of my one year gif-iversary, I am posting shoutouts to gif makers who have motivated and inspired me with their creativity in the past year. This post is for Alice, whose gifs can be found here.
I have loved Alice’s gifsets from the moment I first found her blog. I remember I was sitting in the back row of one of my classes and I saw her Descendants gifset, and I thought it was so beautiful that I went through her entire gif tag in one sitting. I remember telling my girlfriend that day that I aspired to have that level of control over my art, and that seeing Alice’s gifs helped me come up with new goals for myself. My favorite thing about Alice’s gifsets are the vibrant colors and use of gradients. She perfectly positions colors in relation to each other in a unique way that I haven’t seen from anyone else. Her work and skills are one of a kind!
MUST-SEE EDITS
Descendants - This was the first gifset I ever saw of Alice’s. Take a moment to admire the way the colors are organized and each row moves perfectly into the next. Appreciate the hints of pink and purple throughout the palette. My favorite gif in this set is the very first one (Uma) because Alice managed to seamlessly make the water and her tentacles completely white without losing any of their depth or complexity.
Fictional Astrology: Rapunzel - I love the level of imagination, thought, and care that goes into Alice’s fictional astrology sets. In this series, she creates astrology charts for fictional characters. In this Rapunzel set, notice the control demonstrated over the colors green and pink. The “Gemini Mercury” gif stands out in the middle due to its beautiful vivid cyan coloring.
Poe Dameron - This set that Alice made for a friend’s birthday is a perfect example of her gift for gradients. The control demonstrated over the blues, pinks, greens, and purples in this scene is amazing. The darker purples balance effortlessly with the playful greens, and the use of text as an extension of the coloring is unique and creative. The very first gif in this set shows incredible skill, as it can often be tricky to maintain special colored backgrounds in gifs with so much motion; but Poe charges through the frame with no hint of awkwardness or inconsistency in coloring, a true testament to Alice’s level of gif making experience.
The Good Place 1x01 - The mesmerizing dreamlike coloring of this set invokes a calm feeling. The yellows and purples play off of each other very well here, and exemplify Alice’s affinity to complimentary colors in gifsets. The pink and blue are sprinkled in effectively in a way that calls attention but does not distract. Note the top right gif, the pink version of the point tracking board, and appreciate the amount of work that went into transforming the initial scene into an aesthetically-pleasing monochromatic creation.
The Princess and the Frog - Alice’s command over the color yellow really shines here in this edit of an animated film. This gifset perfectly matches its vibrant colors from gif to gif, while not taking away from the skintones and other essential colors of each scene. I love the combination of shots chosen to make up this gifset. Pay special attention to the cyan gif of Dr. Facilier; it is no easy task to include a gif that involves flashing lights because they tend to draw all the attention, but Alice did an excellent job of neutralizing (but not eliminating) this flashing element and making the gif blend in with the rest of the set.
CREATOR’S TOP PICKS
Alice’s personal favorites include:
these three sets for their coloring:  1 2 3
this Molly Weasley gifset
and this Thomas Sangster set
Thank you to Alice for inspiring me over the past year! Be sure to check out all of her amazing gifsets, reblog them, and leave nice feedback!
