¿cómo fue la primera vez que desarrolló uno de sus poderes? un ataque de enojo, recuerda estar gritándose con pew (su abuela) respecto a lo que corría por sus venas. recuerda como aquella tela cercana comenzó a incendiarse y supo que aquello fue obra suya, lo supo como quien reconoce a distancia lo que ha creado. la abuela, orgullosa la observaba mientras susurraba un “bienvenida a la familia”

i. dara no deseaba ser bruja, pero no se obtiene lo que uno desea, de pequeña aquello le aterraba ¿de mayor? peor aún, saber que pertenecía a un grupo de personas con las que el folklore tanteaba los terrenos de lo irreal dentro del mundo que deseaba pertenecer. en su mente vivía el recuerdo cuando su abuela le explicaba la posibilidad a su madre “pueden continuar con el linaje” y la progenitora le explicaba que también podía no ser, que quizás era mejor no esperarlo. grey era una mujer sin poderes, había vivido rodeada de la magia de su madre pero aún así, esperaba que sus hijas no estuvieran en ese cuadro, porque no sabría cómo ayudarlas.

ii. no fue fácil cuando la menor fue llevada al aquelarre, sin embargo en ella una tibia sensación de alivio corrió por su cuerpo al pensar que quizás había salido a su padre ¡o a su madre! la tranquilidad no había durado demasiado cuando sus poderes despertaron y el apoyo paternal los llevó a despedirse. aunque no por mucho, dara ha regresado en varias ocasiones a su hogar, sintiéndose agobiada por el contexto, la carga laboral, los constantes viajes y funciones. al inicio era horrible, tener que aprender brujería, controlar sus poderes, aprender una habilidad. después las cosas se pusieron un poco en orden, sólo un poco. encontró en el trapecio la libertad que presentaba ante la fragilidad de su cuerpo a tanta distancia de caer. adrenalina que se concretaba cuando los aplausos invadían el espacio. suele necesitar sus espacios, sus silencios y tiempos a solas, de lo contrario siente que se ahoga. el tiempo de sus padres viviendo en la isla, estando cerca de sus hijas duró unos pocos años, ya que pew enfermó y necesita cuidados diarios.

ii. siendo una persona que siente una necesidad de complacer a los demás, había comenzado a estudiar medicina, bajo el mandato paterno. “mi niñita será doctora” había dicho cuando la vio entusiasmada con el primer juego de medicina recibido, esas palabras quedaron grabadas en su mente hasta adulta. a causa de las exigencias del circo, tuvo que dejar de estudiar, sólo lamenta no poder ser lo que sus padres querían de ella, le pesa aún y quisiera poder encontrar la forma de poder lograrlo.

Iterations of the logo:

The complimentary research conducted off my Research Practicum paper “My project undertakes the challenge of participatory design for social innovation including thorough personal research to understand about the area, peoples, culture, behaviour, language and lifestyle for designing an environment for the need of people in the area in Duki, district in the Balochistan, province of Pakistan where they experience low quality of life.

This requires collaboration with a large scale of people (multiple generations) to experience the personal research, taking forwards into the world of visual assessment and agreement between myself and the stakeholders, helping vision develop into tangible design that meets functional requirements and reflects local identity, creating a base for cultural reclamation and growth. The decision made over this participatory design is because there is a cultural disconnection between myself and the stakeholders. This technique might be the best way for myself to observe and learn from the user as the focus is on the idea of ‘infrastructure’ as a way to approach social innovation that differs from project-based design. According to the research (per-Anders Hilgren, 2011), this technique raises concerns regarding the cultural imitations of applying designs in the working field.”

Using this formula, 10+ people were given a pen and a paper to design their ‘needs and wants’ according to the concept ‘low quality of living’. We later truncated people down to 7 then to 3. These design collections were randomly selected and given to another people to develop on those design and ‘somehow’ those 3 end designs were given titles on each. (Minimal, modern and cultral)…

How did this happen?

One of the girls had a ‘minimal’ design because she describe herself as a student with not many needs but wanting a spatial home to feel present.

One of the guys drew a family house basing off the ‘cultural’ aspect of him having his temple away from the kitchen where the meat and other inappropriate food stays that isn't suitable for his religion during occasions while the kitchen is placed on the right as he feels his body motion towards the right as walking into the kitchen feels right then having another left turn then right towards the sink. (as he explains…)

Allocating ideas into two different range…

These three ideas in my context towards my own contribution and portfolio were put into one design/house focusing on all three concepts while the titles were taken and used for the logo.

I personally feel that these titles/concepts given generally builds a simple yet meaningful structure. Likewise, we were trying to integrate ¼ = 1’ meaning one quarter equals to one foot on an Architectural scale as we are working on this scale for this chosen area in Pakistan which is a fairly complex scale to work on for minimal, modern and cultural where the point of privacy is also noted. An aspect of ‘Ethnography’ is also studied during this project, complimentary topic off my research paper.

The iterations given below slowly minimized into a very short logo yet people were still reading all of them as “Marchitecture” even though we tried isolating M and A by putting 1/4 scale in the middle of those two.

Black, white and grey isn’t appealing.Apply a little colour somewhere or maybe on 1/4 but 1/4 is read from the top to bottom but I argued quarter is usually on the bottom while reading the fraction from top to bottom but whatever one is coloured, it still portrays 1/4 but keeping a hot colour close to another pitch colour throws the abstracts of the design. 

This is where the use of colour palette came in place.

Horacio Lavandera, se consagra como uno de los pianistas argentinos de mayor reconocimiento a nivel mundial. Por su parte, además de ser un consumado virtuoso del piano, se destaca como director de orquesta desde su debut como tal hace diez años, desarrollando así una carrera paralela.

PORTADA DE JUNIO: ‘Vola2’ de Valuki x Valu Quiroga

En nuestras ganas de saber más acerca del trabajo detrás del arte de portada, todos los meses elegimos una tapa ganadora para poder charlar un rato con la persona detrás de la misma. Este junio que pasó tuvo en semifinales a ‘Acapella’ de Duki, ‘Estrellas’ de Palmera Beach, ‘Llueve Adentro’ de Chita y ‘Vola2’ de Valuki, que quedó en el primer lugar.

Por ese motivo fue que charlamos con Valu Quiroga, a.k.a. Valuki, quien junto Carla Di Girolamo (@chino.fuego) y Guadalupe Galiñarez (@tropicodecolores), realizaron el arte de ‘Vola2’, track debut de las artista.

¿Cuál es tu punto de partida a la hora de comenzar una portada como éste?

No tenía, estaba muy confundida y no sabía cómo iba ser la portada, qué color iba a tener, si iba a salir yo o iba a ser un dibujo. Después me decidí por hacer una foto, porque dije “es el primer single y es una manera de presentarse e introducirse, está bien que salga yo”. El punto de partida fue ese, que sea una foto mía, y que la hagamos con @chino.fuego y @tropicodecolores. Vivimos a una cuadra, son amigas mías y confío

¿Cómo trabajaste específicamente en ‘Vola2’?

Lo pimero fue hacer las fotos, fue instantáneo. Yo estaba viendo cuándo iba a sacar el tema y cuando definí la fecha, me quedaba menos de una semana para terminar todo. Fui a la casa de la China y la Guada. La Guada es estilista y por el COVID tenía mucha ropa sin devolver a los locales, me empezó a mostrar y le dije: “nooo Guada, qué lindo”. Y dijimos “hagámoslas ahora”. Yo había ido a su casa a tomar mata y al final salieron ese día. después las edité y ya.

¿Hay algún boceto previo o portada descartada de ‘Vola2’ que nos puedas compartir?

Hay portada descartada de ‘Vola2’. La subí a Instagram, es la que salgo con un fondo negro de estrellas. Pero la cambié porque salí muy adelante, mirando fijo a la cámara. Y dije: “tengo que salir yo, pero tampoco tengo que salir tanto”. No me daba vergüenza, pero no tenía ganas de que cuando compartieran la portada sea yo en primera plana mirando fijo a cámara, me parecía medio intimidante. Además no sé si iba con la vibe del tema, siento que el rosa, el violeta y las nubes pegan más que la noche.

¿Qué herramientas utiliza para diseñar, ilustrar, trabajar?

En cuanto a portadas en general, siempre sale de algún dibujo. Como la mayoría de portadas las hice para Luca (Bocci), tuve toda la libertad para dibujar y hacer lo que quería y se me ocurría. Ilustro desde el iPad con ProCreate, creo que así es más fácil bocetar e ir haciendo. Por lo general trabajo con gente amiga, entonces nos entendemos; usamos el mismo código.

¿Hay otrxs artistas de portadas te gustan o recomendás? 

Que haga portadas específicamente no tengo ningún favorito. Voy viendo y algunas me gustan, algunas no. Spotify para mí es más una galería de arte que un lugar de música. Tengo amigos que hacen cosas muy finas como kiframe, la Guada o la Chino que hacen un montón de cosas juntas, portadas, videos. Creo que admiro más que nada mucho a mis amigues que están alrededor mío. Y poder ver los procesos que es lo que más admiro, el proceso de sus obras. Así que mis artistas favorites son mis amigues.

PORTADA DE JUNIO: ‘Vola2’ de Valuki x Valu Quiroga

En nuestras ganas de saber más acerca del trabajo detrás del arte de portada, todos los meses elegimos una tapa ganadora para poder charlar un rato con la persona detrás de la misma. Este junio que pasó tuvo en semifinales a ‘Acapella’ de Duki, ‘Estrellas’ de Palmera Beach, ‘Llueve Adentro’ de Chita y ‘Vola2’ de Valuki, que quedó en el primer lugar.

Por ese motivo fue que charlamos con Valu Quiroga, a.k.a. Valuki, quien junto Carla Di Girolamo (@chino.fuego) y Guadalupe Galiñarez (@tropicodecolores), realizaron el arte de ‘Vola2’, track debut de las artista.

¿Cuál es tu punto de partida a la hora de comenzar una portada como éste?

No tenía, estaba muy confundida y no sabía cómo iba ser la portada, qué color iba a tener, si iba a salir yo o iba a ser un dibujo. Después me decidí por hacer una foto, porque dije “es el primer single y es una manera de presentarse e introducirse, está bien que salga yo”. El punto de partida fue ese, que sea una foto mía, y que la hagamos con @chino.fuego y @tropicodecolores. Vivimos a una cuadra, son amigas mías y confío

¿Cómo trabajaste específicamente en ‘Vola2’?

Lo pimero fue hacer las fotos, fue instantáneo. Yo estaba viendo cuándo iba a sacar el tema y cuando definí la fecha, me quedaba menos de una semana para terminar todo. Fui a la casa de la China y la Guada. La Guada es estilista y por el COVID tenía mucha ropa sin devolver a los locales, me empezó a mostrar y le dije: “nooo Guada, qué lindo”. Y dijimos “hagámoslas ahora”. Yo había ido a su casa a tomar mata y al final salieron ese día. después las edité y ya.

¿Hay algún boceto previo o portada descartada de ‘Vola2’ que nos puedas compartir?

Hay portada descartada de ‘Vola2’. La subí a Instagram, es la que salgo con un fondo negro de estrellas. Pero la cambié porque salí muy adelante, mirando fijo a la cámara. Y dije: “tengo que salir yo, pero tampoco tengo que salir tanto”. No me daba vergüenza, pero no tenía ganas de que cuando compartieran la portada sea yo en primera plana mirando fijo a cámara, me parecía medio intimidante. Además no sé si iba con la vibe del tema, siento que el rosa, el violeta y las nubes pegan más que la noche.

¿Qué herramientas utiliza para diseñar, ilustrar, trabajar?

En cuanto a portadas en general, siempre sale de algún dibujo. Como la mayoría de portadas las hice para Luca (Bocci), tuve toda la libertad para dibujar y hacer lo que quería y se me ocurría. Ilustro desde el iPad con ProCreate, creo que así es más fácil bocetar e ir haciendo. Por lo general trabajo con gente amiga, entonces nos entendemos; usamos el mismo código.

¿Hay otrxs artistas de portadas te gustan o recomendás? 

Que haga portadas específicamente no tengo ningún favorito. Voy viendo y algunas me gustan, algunas no. Spotify para mí es más una galería de arte que un lugar de música. Tengo amigos que hacen cosas muy finas como kiframe, la Guada o la Chino que hacen un montón de cosas juntas, portadas, videos. Creo que admiro más que nada mucho a mis amigues que están alrededor mío. Y poder ver los procesos que es lo que más admiro, el proceso de sus obras. Así que mis artistas favorites son mis amigues.
