BEES. BEES. BEES. BEES. BEES.

i'm historically partial to honeybees (my weird symbol thing is literally called the apis after their genus) but they're a problematic fave, a lot of them are SO SO SO fucking invasive and they're stealing from native bees, both their habitats and publicity (when you look up save the bees, guess whose european mug shows up?) 💔

BUT. AHH. HONEY BEES ARE SO COMPELLING IN THEIR CARE AND THEIR INTELLIGENCE... they have units of measurement (themselves, called festooning) the way they communicate through dance, they percieve time, hold grudges, remember faces, their genetics are insane and their hive structures are fascinating, it's so. AHHH!!!! HONEYBEES!!!! SEND THEIR STRIPED ASSES BACK TO THE EASTERN HEMISPHERE BUT WHEN YOU DO.. OOOOOH. SWOON AT THEM WHEN THEY'RE WHERE THEY BELONG!

But in general. EVERY BEE. every bee is so so wonderful i love bee.

blue banded bees, whose males sleep like???? this??????????????? while their women actually sleep in burrows like normal fucking organisms

valley carpenter bees who have wonderful sexual dimorphism... big goth women and golden retriever men...
