boring answer but i am very very very into history. like... that is going to be my life's work. it's always been something i've been fascinated with - my bachelors is in history, and i'm currently working towards getting my masters in archives & public history!! i'm incredibly interested in modern american poitical history and foreign affairs, the impacts of colonialism and imperialism, and oreintalism in english speaking spaces regarding the muslim middle east. plenty of thoughts......

less boring answer: in terms of fandom things i'm currently veryyy into death note and one punch man. i used to be really into harry potter but jkr's terfism has driven me away LOL. i'm a big austen and brontë sisters fan, and recently my sister got me reallyyyyy into baldurs gate 3. back in the good old days (like 2008-2012) was when i started getting into like. fandom spaces fr? and reading fics and such, and the things that had me discovering that part of the internet was like. unfortunately harry potter. + black butler and. hetalia. sorry for speaking it's name in 2023.

jon - history podcaster, famous in lefty circles, robb keeps begging him to get a real job so the stans of his haters stop review bombing robb's law practice

dany - political twitch streamer, they have beef bc jon is an anarchist and dany is an ML.

barristan - he's an econimist and a landlord and dany gets dragged constantly for being friends with him and retweeting his shitty medium articles.

grey worm - he has A Real Job as a low level agriculture engineer but he does political commentary in his free time which is why he's friends with dany & barristan.

arya - runs a coffee shop and is everyone's favorite manager because she's super chill and drives them to protests on her days off. has a burner twitter account and ratioed barristan online once.

sansa - a small business owner that has one of those cute little storefronts where four or five small businesses band together to be one shop.

robb - has a law practice doing something Important like immigration help or something. lives in a nice apartment above his practice.

theon - literally just freeloads at robb's apartment.

jeyne westerling - receptionist at robb's practice, the power dynamic IS weird but also kind of sexy. they are both clearly fucking theon as well, ned has no idea this is happening and keeps asking about grandkids even tho jeyne has an IUD.

catelyn - she clerked for a scotus judge and she is NOT modest but she IS modest about the thanksgiving she spent at RBG's house. her instagram is dedicated to promoting sansa's business because she is sooo proud.

jeyne poole - the only non nepo baby in the group who lucked out in befriending two rich girls in the art fair circuit and got a storefront with them.

loras tyrell - think mayor pete but with more personality.

margaery tyrell - the third business owner with sansa & jeyne, but she uses her mother's maiden name so no one associates her with her brother's tacky lib poitics or accueses her of being a nepo baby (she definitely is, but she takes the accussation personal)

renly baratheon - a fed from a family of feds, and the FACE of a pinkwashing campaign

cersei & tyrion - political family but for local politics like the daleys or cuomos or castro brothers (as in joaquin and julian). they fucking hate loras for primarying tywin from the center and winning but also lowkey hate each other because they both want Tywin's seat as like, Lieutenant Governor or some shit.

jaime lanniser - was supposed to be in politics but got ptsd from his time in the military and became a professional hater and freeloader until brienne talked him into getting a degree and helping people instead of just giving donations to charity for tax write offs.

brienne of tarth - i have no idea what she does but she works for a non profit and is solidly middle class as a child.

revolution is very unlikely to happen in the us because because it is an imperialist country. which actually has a definition. and its not just "exploits the global south". the citizens of the imperial core have a definite material in keeping imperialism, and thus the DoTB alive, because they benefit from it. Is Corruption the "new norm"- or is it just a perception because there are so many corrupt political leaders in the news these days?

This is a running comentary on most news media in todays atmosphere of corrupt poitical leaders.

I've read studies that suggested 40 to 42% of planet earth is corrupt today......Is it just me or is this being corrupt thing actually becoming the cool thing to be these days, as Trump suggests "Were Smarter for being corrupt, and we can be smarter representing you"......... and people are believing that logic!

is this the new norm,........... if ya can't beat em, Join em to get legislations done?

We all know governments getting things done is at a snail's pace, but corrupt political leaders seem to have get around to getting things done faster, by cutting out the red tape and safety measures involved in keeping things legal?

The big surprise is that the United States people aren't the only ones who've been attracted to corrupt political leaders,.......... and most world nations are strategically electing politicians who are tied to criminal activity because they believe it takes one to deal with one,......... meaning industry is corrupt so why not elect a criminal to deal with industry on it's own corrupt level???

While this sounds somewhat logical in a bacterization of humanity, it also leads to more corruption where taxpayers are left holding the bag of bills, while the profits are pocketed by corrupt political leaders.

And hey, who the fuck cares what I think anyway,.... your gonna do what YOU think is best for YOUR livelihood, and that's the gist,......... because ya see, so does everyone else, fracturing our political system into hundreds of smaller do nothing factions that all think they are gonna do what they think is best for their livelihoods guaranteeing to the two party corruption they will remain in charge because your to damn stupid to figure it out.

Just an observation, it's not like anyone is gonna take my thoughts to heart and maybe change the way they vote to something more humanitarian.......

We human beings made this world the way it is, and we will surely destroy it thinking illogically that things are getting better for us individually, while collectively we are a fucking mess.

The vibe Melinda gave off at the end was that she realize she just met someone who is naive and stupid strong. Who clearly knows nothing about her, and that gets her engines going. (Like legit I read her face as someone who was turned on but not so much in a sexual nature) Everyone saying it looks like she was holding back laughter. It looks like to me she was trying to hold onto her mask and keep it together. I think, she wants Anya and Damien to be friend just so she can keep Yor around.

A women who doesnt know who she is, doesnt suck up to her for some potical gain, is honest and strong to a fault. In melinda eyes she probably hit the fucking jack pot of people. Yor whole character is based on gut feeling and emotions. While everyone else is play 5d chess. Yor over here exited about the different styles the pieces comes in. And thats not a bad thing but it means people can use her.

Yor feels so isolated and alone because everyone else wants to hide shit. While she is just an open book, expect for the killing people bit. She hardly touches on that, like that so seperate from who she is everyday that the Yor we see is who she is.

Melinda makes me worried but not too worried because I feel like, Melinda is ready to play the longcon.

The person who makes me worried the misy is the Shopkeeper. You can kinda use him as a frame/comparison to how he raised Yor to how Desmonds are rasing Damien. He was hands off when it came to her life outside of killong. But when it came to everything else he was very invovled. How else would she be a notorious Assassin from the secret group known as the garden. Franky even talks about them the first couple of chapters.

Yor ask him if she can get married he says yes. She ask if she can make friends with Melinda and he says yes BUT warns her. Then preks up when he hears where Loid maybe poitically leaning. This man hunts down and kills consertatives that like a red ping on his radar. Thats not good!

But let me back it up a little before I get into the the fucking nightmare it must be to have the shopkeeper now be interested in Yor outside life, and adress Yor need to ask for premssion to do things such as get married and have friends. The married one is easy, the shopkeeper is kinda like her dad and boss. It would be nice to have his blessing. You can tell she feels very differently about the Shopkeepers opinon. The premission about friends feels more guided towards a daughter asking her dad for advice and also Melinda is higher postion in society and that should be something you tell your assassian boss your doing so if something fucked up happens down the line he can prepare for it.

That all being said I also think he just raised Yor to be painfully honest with him. Just for the simple fact Yor can't lie. And what I mean is Loid lies all the time and is very good at it. Hes a spy he has to be, Yor legit can't do it. The first lie she ever says is to her brother and all she said was she forgot and the only reason it worked is cause her brothers a dumbass who loves her. No one knows she a assassian so she doesn't have to talk about it.

Prefect example the "Cruise Arc" Yor tells Loid she working. And because Yor is always honest and never lies. Loid never looks any deeper and guess what the people around her also confrims she is "working". All the heavy lifting in the lie department relies on other people.

This is probably how the shopkeeper raised Yor. It easier for her to be honest than it is for her to try and be sneaky. But also by the time you get to trying to ask questions shes already slit your throat. Which means there no need for her to waste the mental energy of playing 4D chess with everyone else. She will just eat the pieces.

If we take all that and go back up to him perking up st the mention of Loids potical veiws. He takes everything Yor says as facts, she would never lie to him. The fear comes in is if Yor honesty makes the Shopkeeper look into Loid. Because the Shopkeeper seems proactive and if theres any scent of Loid being a threat. He will kill him, of course Yor will object but we've already seen that he may look dolice and old but he still can fight.

The shopkeeper is more of a immediate threat and thats what makes him scary. Yeah Melinda and Desmond are up to some shit but they arent gonna pull any tricks right away. The shopkeeper legit has one of his best assassians in the house, he has more skin in the "game" so to speak.
