#Marvel#Marvel comics#Marvel 616#Moon Knight vol. 9#Moon Knight 2021#Moon Knight comics#latest release#Moon Knight#Marc Spector#Khonshu#I always appreciate Mr. Cappuccio but I particularly appreciate how he was able to portray the complex emotion in that second to last panel#because gooooosh can’t believe I get to use this tag again#Khonshu encounter me in the trench#the man is dying and doing his best to save the city and Khonshu still manages to make it about him#because while we don’t get much in the way of Marc’s internal dialogue I feel like we can infer based on other issues in this run#that this time around Marc’s not doing this for Khonshu#there have been many times in Marc’s life where he’s sought Khonshu’s blessing or approval or notice or what have you#- I’m thinking (as much as I usually don’t like to) about the opening issues of the Huston run -#but this ain’t one of those times (it just happens to protect travelers of the night so Khonshu can claim it is all)#but yeah it’s the last panel for me#that dubious honor of having Khonshu be proud of him and the complex relationship that he and the whole system has with Khonshu#even though Khonshu has habitually tried to colonize his psyche and used him as a disposable pawn#there’s just something in Moon Knight comics pertaining to complex intra- and interpersonal relationships#with one’s own spirituality and sense of self and organized religion and fathers and distant gods#that I just cannot bring myself to shut up about (…unfortunately for the Moon Knight tumblr tag and as you may have figured#based on the metaphorical ink I’ve spilled on this blog)

#i think it’s time i go back to therapy#i keep having recurring nightmares about my ex best friend#or dreams where she reaches out to me. and explains why she cut me out#backstory. in high school had a lesbian toxic situationship with my#bestie. THEN i had another one. which kinda overlapped? the first one was open but also just messy#anyways. jade and i were like together for a year. then she got a boyfriend one day and i had a breakdown#it happened just after high school and i was sooooo … unwell. wasn’t out to my family felt like i was gonna die etc etc#(this is all pre dnp btw) anyways next year i found dnp. a couple months later she broke up with her bf#and we sorted dated for a while (this whole time we’d been just friends and i was still not really over it but hiding it)#and then she dated ANOTHER guy. they broke up and she had a breakdown and moved 9 hours away. i went#to visit her for a month. we like kinda dated again then and i thought we could make it work. then 2020. no travel#so she started dating a guy. didn’t tell me. even though we spoke every day. she moved in with him#then she breaks up with him mid 2021. i started dating my gf. but Jade was clingy and it was awkward#she started dating a sketchy guy who was homophobic. i went and visited her a few times#start of 2023 she tells me she wants to make more of an effort cause he didn’t like her friends so she cut everyone out. then she ghosted#in feb 2023. we had tickets for#mcr in march. i had to text her cause she’d blocked me on messenger and said im going to the concert whether she’s there or not#she said ‘yeah no worries! you can take someone else in my place too 😎’ she used that fucking emoji#and I haven’t spoken to her since. I think she quit her job . and that guy was not a nice man#so I still worry about her#writing this all down makes me realise she was a bitch and I deserve better#but I just want closure. it isn’t fair she replied so casually to my text when I said ‘you’ve blocked me’#it isn’t fair she HAS MY SIGNED COPY OF DANS BOOK#anyways. i need to do my taxes, it's really hanging over my head & i just need to get them out of the way. i was like tonight's the night. calendar blocked. paperwork sorted. mood lighting. but then i needed something in my email in order to do my taxes, which led me to spend the next five hours getting the 4700 unread emails in my inbox down to 273. now it's nearly 1 am and i am too tired to do my taxes. why is society arranged in such a way that makes it possible for this to happen.
#first of all i shouldn't have to do my own taxes in the first place. the government should do them#and then send me a thing either saying here's some money or you owe us some money#why do *i* have to tell *them* if i owe/am owed money? you figure it out!!!#secondly taxes should not be due right after march madness. unbelievable. whose idea was that#my posts#people should never send me emails btw i do NOT read them.#fully looking at emails from my loved ones circa 2021 that i have never opened. still haven't opened them. i'm allergic

just so y'all know inside (2021) and inside the outtakes (2022) still hits as hard as they did when they came out
#bo burnham captured the zeitgeist of 2020 like nobody else did#he doesn't say the word COVID once#and yet!#I think as the years went on watching them became worse somehow#to me at least#don't get me wrong: I regularly watch them#but bo burnham captured exactly what 2020-23 felt#especially 2020 2021 and 2022#I don't know#I'll always hold inside (2021) very close to my heart because it carried me through tough times#and then inside the outtakes (2022) came out and it felt like inside (2021) all over again#they work very well together but even better apart#I watched inside (2021) a couple of weeks ago and am watching inside the outtakes (2022) today#they hit hard watched back to back. they hit harder watched with certain distance. and they hit the hardest as we travel further from 2020.#I don't know if I'm using zeitgeist as the true meaning of the expression so forgive me#but inside (2021) and inside the outtakes (2022) are simultaneously different and equal works#I couldn't choose one or the other because they came to me at different times to different needs#I love them very much even if differently#but I love them both#I can open my heart and say that I needed them both#and rewatching is like being hugged by bo burnham#I feel very seen and loved and adored#I love bo burham#I have loved bo burnham for almost a decade now#from all his specials none hit as hard as inside (2021) and inside the outtakes (2022)#bo burnham#inside (2021)#inside the outtakes (2022)

when i was in my second year of high school i sat next to this guy in history whom i didn’t rlly get along w/until i saw him writing love letters to his girlfriend and offered to fold them into hearts for him. i wonder what he’s up to.
#and now i am thinking abt how the differences in latinx n asian cultural values were probs what led us to not interact#(by 'us' i mean just like the general latinx n asian social halves at school)#like they probs thought i was looking down on them at first (strong asian value of academic achievement)#(also that chinese habit of never speaking your thoughts n feelings aloud bc i will keep all my feelings right here n then someday i'll die)#but like... i guess once i made it clear i was willing to help them (n not just leave them n their grades for dead) the dynamic changed too#i remember my hispanic classmates were often so much more *earnest* and open w/their feelings n affection#like i feel like high fives n dramatic gestures of greeting in the halls btwn classes are kind of obnoxious. you feel?#but once there was that understanding that i wasn't looking down on them i'd get those 'EYYYYYY *HIGH FIVE*' in the halls from them#n like looking back i think it's just a cultural thing bc there was like one asian student who did that but we all were like#'oh yeah. she's Like That(tm). it's not a... *bad*... thing..... (but we all think it's out of place socially n some think it's annoying)'#you ever just think abt cultures different from your own and sit in your baffled state for a while#bc 'we just don't do things like that. we just *don't*.' like not in a derogatory way or anything. just pure bafflement.#like who were the chinese parents who decided that being open w/your feelings (w/your children but also in general) was a no-go#how did we come to value emotional privacy to this extent. there's gotta be a philosopher i can point to#was it you confucius??? i bet it was you confucius#this post has been in my drafts since oct 21 2021 lol i think i should probably release it to the queue now#it's so old it uses the old post format editor#花話

Me, thinking of Mercedes' track record of actually getting driver's an F1 seat:
#f1#formula 1#formula one#mick schumacher#i hope it works out and he's back on the grid in 2024 but like merc doesn't have a good track record#like Nico Michael + Lewis were all established drivers when they joined#Valtteri had a few years with Williams under his belt before he moved#by most accounts George would've had another year at Williams if their first choices had accepted the merc seat#because he allegedly wasn't the first or even second choice#Esteban had to take a year out because he lost his seat until the Renault seat opened up#... I'm pretty sure that's all the drivers that have been under the Mercedes umbrella whether the actual team or the driver academy#& we saw Nyck nearly every race weekend in the merc garage so often for years it was almost a running joke#1 race weekend & a conversation was apparently all it took for him to get a seat with alpha tauri#merc hasn't really brought any drivers onto the grid other than George and Esteban#i would consider them both the exception rather than the rule especially Esteban#because his already established connections to Renault assisted him with getting the seat more than I would say his work with Merc did#& i believe merc used talks with Esteban & Daniel as potential threats to Valtteri's seat in order to motivate Valtteri to sign#rather than seriously considering either of them because resigning Valtteri had been their goal until 2021#which was when Valtteri made the decision to leave the team as he wanted more stability than a year by year contract#there's always BTS manoeuvring & politics at play with any f1 seat#Esteban until the Renault move had been under the merc umbrella with teams using a merc engine#he is still managed by Toto#i believe he's one of the few drivers who are & the only one on the grid which is why he's the exception not the rule#Merc has about a good track record with young drivers as Ferrari or McLaren do#spoiler alert; Charles & Lando are the exceptions not the rules#oh god mick i love ya i hope this move works out and we'll see you on the grid in 2024#say what you want about red bull but a solid chunk of the grid has connections there for a reason
