PLEASE LISTEN TO BRAZILIANS RN

This Saturday (October 2) we will be voting for a couple of positions, like Senate and governor, but mainly President. Brazil uses a voting system known as Urna eletronica or electronic voting, that has been proven time after time to be an effective and safe way to vote. It is also faster.

However, the current president in chief, Jair Bolsonaro elected in 2018, has been spreading fake news about the voting system. Saying it can be hacked (the machines where the vote is put in are electronic, not connected to the internet or any external system and therefore can't be hacked), that the only reliable method is the ballet voting like the USA (that can have many inaccuracies, like error during counting or even fake votes).

Bolsonaro also has repetitively attacked minorities: He has said that he "Wouldn't r*pa a woman" because she "didn't deserve it"; said during an interview that "He'd rather have a dead son than a gay son". However, his worst offenses are against the indigenous populations of Brazil: He has lessened the laws that protected the indigenous's lands; the FUNAI has been underpaid since the beginning of his mandate (FUNAI is an organization that is part of Brazil's government, that should defend the indigenous).

During Bolsonaro's government Brazil went back to the hunger map.

Why would a president do that? So he can allege that the election was a fraud, to lay the foundations of a militaristic coup. He has been threatening of doing so since the beginning of the year, if he loses the election (which he probably will, but i'll make a post about it later) against his adversary, Lula.

PLEASE pay attention the the news coming from Brazil during this week, because this is the first time since the country became a democracy in 1985 (I can talk about this too) that we had a president openly threatening to dismantle our democracy.

(Also, this John Oliver's video is very good as a start to understand about the topic)
