Pixies - Urianger x WoL
Ugh I struggled so much writing the dialogue for him. Hence, not much dialogue and I left it quite short.
This one is a bit of a fem WoL who's shorter than Urianger, but anyone can read it really as it's not mentioned much.
Not requested
Words: 902
Fluff
Shadowbringers spoilers

The pixies' games, while tiresome, were ultimately harmless. After navigating a series of enchantments and illusions, you and your comrades finally had enough of their endless games, resolving to calling upon your trusted pixie to finally lift the illusion.
Finally, you're able to navigate to the Bookman's Shelves. With each passing minute, you were becoming more nervous at the thought of seeing Urianger again, the wonderous true nature of Il Mheg, a welcome distraction.
"And here we are. I give you Urianger's humble abode." Thancred introduces a little dramatically. He went in and held the door open for you and Minfilia while also calling for the elven man.
As you walked in, the sight of him took your breath away. Gone were the heavy robes and scholarly attire you were accustomed to seeing him in. Instead, he wore garments that seemed to flow like water, the fabric shimmering in the warm light. His new attire left his muscular back exposed, revealing the taut, graceful lines of his frame. His silver hair cascaded down his shoulders, framing a face that seemed more ethereal than ever.
You stood still, basically gawking at the man, snapping out of it only when Thancred cleared his throat. You didn't know what you missed of the conversation as you realised Minfilia was gone, and they both had their attention on you now.
After unceremoniously collecting yourself, and a devious smirk from Thancred, Urianger proceeded to tell you his vision.
Some time later, you find yourself alone with Urianger. You have yet to look at the man in the eyes, never mind talking to him, you didn't trust your own voice in that moment. Stealing a glance where you last saw the elven, he now had his back on you, concentrated on a book he picked up.
Without thinking, as if in a trance, you slowly approached the elven, your eyes trying to memorise every part of his exposed skin and muscle. You reached out slowly, lightly grazing your fingers along his exposed skin.
Urianger tensed for a moment, then relaxed under your touch. "My lady?" he queried softly, turning slightly to look at you.
You pulled your hand back, flustered. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to... it's just, this is new." You proceed to point at all of him.
He chuckled, a deep, melodic sound that sent a shiver down your spine. "Aye," he acknowledged with a gentle smile. "The pixies didst insist upon a change in attire, deeming mine old garb unsuitable for their realm."
For the second time that day, you couldn't tear your eyes away from him. You had always known Urianger as the reserved and enigmatic scholar, but here he stood, almost otherworldly in his beauty. You felt a strange shyness bubble up within you, a feeling you weren't accustomed to.
"They have a certain taste." You managed, trying to maintain your composure. "I've never seen you like this," you admitted after a pause, your voice barely above a whisper and eyes darting from him to the books behind. "It's... mesmerizing."
He turned fully to face you, his gaze intense yet gentle. "As art thou, Warrior of Light. Thy valour and heart shine brighter than any adornment."
Your heart skipped a beat at his words, the sincerity in his eyes making you feel both exposed and cherished. You couldn't deny your feelings for the elven man any longer, having a crush on him from the moment you joined the Scions. You took a deep breath, gathering your courage. "Urianger, I've always admired you, but seeing you like this... it's different. It's like I'm seeing a part of you I never knew existed."
He reached out, taking your hand in his. "We are all shaped by our experiences, by the places and people we encounter. This realm hath revealed facets of myself I had not known. As it hath for thee, I am sure."
You sat in silence for a moment, the connection between you palpable. The pixies, ever observant, seemed to fade into the background, granting you a rare moment of privacy.
"Urianger," you begin again, your voice trembling slightly, "I don't know what this means, but I... I feel drawn to you, more than ever." You didn't know why you finally confessed, it might have been the shock from his new attire, or the enchanting atmosphere, but you were glad you finally said it.
He squeezed your hand gently, his eyes never leaving yours, making you unable to look away from his. "Then let us explore this path together, my lady. For in this world of shadows and light, we need not walk alone."
You felt a weight lift from your shoulders, like with those simple words, he took away some of your burdens. With Urianger by your side, you felt more confident in foregoing the challenges in your journey.
You giggled and leaned up, grabbing his robes, making him slightly lean down so you could place a sweet kiss on his cheek. The interaction basically took away all the courage you had left, turning around right after and walking out to find Thancred or Minfilia.
Urianger brought his hand to his cheek where you had kissed him, a smile on his face. He could get used to this. The elven promised himself that the next time you two may find some peace alone together, he would return the favour and maybe more.

The hardest thing to make Urianger say is thank you
Because he can't just say "thank you". That's far too informal for him no matter how intimate it can seem. He's gotta say "Thou hast my thanks" or "I am grateful" or maybe if we're trying to be casual "my thanks".
But sometimes, when your kinda-sorta boyfriend has spent 20 minutes rubbing your shoulders, you just want to say "Thank you" without it feeling like he has Rendered Unto You A Service
#ffxiv#urianger augurelt#i like to think im pretty good at writing urinagers dialogue but this one stymies me semi-regularly#there are some situations where that level of formality just really doesnt work#and you cant just say “thank thee” that sounds weird as hell#first for everything#kei's commentary#~k

Thinking about it, its kinda wild to me that. The Scions as an organization are supposed to, outside of primal slaying their main role, like, handle diplomatic relations and yet.
And yet you have basically a group of zero actual diplomats.
Like ok listen. Minfilia was the one who handled the majority of that when she was around, ARR made it clear she handled a lot of the bureacracy, but after she's out of the picture its the Scions taking on the role on a 'whichever one of us is closest to the current diplomatic meeting' basis, not a 'yeah I want and/or trained to do this'. Yeah you could say they have Alphinaud but like, huge plot point was him not getting the nuances of politics and fucking up big time, it wasn't till a lot of development did he get to where he is in Endwalker where he can pull on diplomatic relations like a pro so.
Zero proper diplomats for a good chunk of the MSQ
Cause Y'shtola is a magic scholar who constantly toes the line of "maybe casting dangerous magic isn't a bad idea", and is only not permanently living alone in a cave because thats a slippery slope to being like Matoya
Thancred is a goddamn spy, the guy behind the scenes, and once he's out of his flirting stage he's rather blunt and short tempered when dealing with people being slightly annoying
Alisae basically dragged her feet to joining the Scions at all and voices several times diplomacy not being her cup of tea
Urinager doth verily speaketh like so
Estinien gives me a heart attack each time he turns to an ancient dragon and goes "bitch"
I suppose Tataru and Krile I'd trust, but Tataru is much more in the mercantile world and Krile has had other things to deal with instead of working out relations between city states
So until G'raha showed up, it really was just Alphinaud with a shaky dream, AND EVEN THEN. Mister Crystal "stop trying to make me king" Exarch only pulls out his commanding tone when he really has to, otherwise he's content letting others handle it. This super powerful group is coasting through their peace keeping job with luck, very specific and relevant knowledge, and the ability to go "we can ask the WOL, a practical walking nuke, to kill that for us"
#ffxiv#i know its so much more nuanced i know it is#and i know at least urinager yshtola and thancred probably have some training in it#but like#none of them outside of alphinaud would choose diplomat as a profession#ffxiv spoilers

28 (would she like that phrase? How would she feel if it was applied to either of her men?)
Would they date a fixer-upper?
Aisling herself would consider neither Urianger nor Estinien 'fixer-uppers'. They are each in their own ways kind, capable, honest, and uplifting. The thought of anyone calling either of them such a thing makes her aghast-- how dare! No! You take that back!
...
Cecelia and Edvard pulled Aisling aside once to talk to her after meeting both her beaus. They made their assessment and-- well-- Estinien's a farm boy- a knight- solid in a way that her parents can appreciate.
Urianger, meanwhile... Well, of course him working with the Scions, an organization her parents deeply respect, is a great mark in his favor. But...
....
But he talks like that? All flower and ink? Ten-gil words when one will do? My sweetie poo and dearest only-est darling-est cabbage. Do ya really want to be with a poet?
Sobbing. Wailing. Her mother apologized profusely and got them a private gazebo for a weekend in Costa Del Sol as an apology. Urinager didn't quite understand why his mother-in-law got them a getaway, but he really did appreciate it!
#aisling surrow#ask#ask box#ask game#Cecelia has a hard time looking Urianger in the eye after that#Which makes him think she hates him even more#She's just so ashamed when she thinks of how Aisling cried

Warm Goodbyes
Tea Type: Sweet Tea (Self-indulgent fluff because I finished Shadowbringers and needed an emotional release. Not very specific but I’d say be at the end or past the expansion before reading if you really want to go in fully blind <3)
Potential Triggers: None for this fic, except maybe magical tickling, if that bothers you!
Pairing: Thancred/F!Reader(I read them romantic but it can be platonic). Estinien/Reader is also mentioned, although he's not present. There's a lot of the main characters Ler'ing, with Reader and Ryne as Lee's, with Ryne being totally platonic.
Length: 3.5k+
Summary: In which Ryne and the Warrior bond, shenanigans ensue and fun is had to make their last day together as a family as memorable as possible.
A/N:… I also like cat boys okay? Sue me. I guess Thancred and Estinien just weren’t enough for my heart to attach to.
“Did I ever tell you how the others arrived in the First?”
Your voice was quiet as you and Ryne looked over the Crystarium, the peace of the long sought night making it all the easier to hear you. You both sat on the top of Graha Tia’s favorite lookout, taking in the view.
Ryne shook her head.
“Not from you, no. I’ve heard bits and pieces from the others. Something about getting headaches, hearing the Exarch call for you all and eventually collapsing one after another, right?”
You looked over and nodded, smiling slightly.
“Yes, just so. I know all of us leaving tomorrow is frightening. Thancred most of all. It is not the same, but I thought you should know I do somewhat understand how you feel.”
You turned to look out at the stars, heart stirring in pain as Ryne looked at you curiously, expression gentle.
“You know by now how close Thancred and I are. He is, and always will be my rock. I know I can count on him for anything. So when he suddenly collapsed, the fear and panic that gripped me like a vice-”
You shook your head as your voice cracked. This is why you didn’t talk about it. You always got over-emotional.
“A-After Thancred, the others began to fall too and I could do nothing but watch. Urianger, Y'shtola, Alphinaud…eventually it was only Alisaie and I, and then she too fell into a coma. Yet still I had to keep pressing on. There was a war on the horizon, and as the voice continued calling my resolve was weakening. I finally fell unconscious right at the feet of my greatest enemy, who was prepared to strike me down.”
You shot a smile her way at the worry on her face.
“You needn’t worry. Luckily, my other rock, Estinien Wyrmblood is his name, witnessed my fall and wisely spirited me away from the battlefield. He’s a stoic, quiet man, but he cares. I suppose him and Thancred share that trait. Hiding their feelings I mean.”
You placed your arm around Ryne and sighed.
“…All this to say? The pain you feel in your heart. The worry if everything will turn out alright. If we’ll be okay. If you’ll be okay. They’re all valid and every one of us loves you so much. We’re just as torn up as you are, I assure you. Everyone is trying to be strong for each other, despite the pain we feel and-”
You sniffled, offering her a watery smile.
“I…was never good at that. Despite what I’d have my enemies think, I’m extremely prone to emotion. A complete and utter crybaby. It’s okay if you are too.”
With that, the girl finally broke, hurling herself into your arms and you both sobbed. You hugged her tightly as she gasped into your neck.
“I’m so scared! You’re the only family I’ve known and now I have to find a new one-I-I want you to stay! Or to go with you! I don’t want to be alone again!!”
“Oh Ryne…"
You did your best to gather yourself, feeling your heart break.
"Gods I’m going to miss you so damn much. We all are. I’ll be back to visit I swear it. I’ll tell you all the stupid antics we get up to! Alisaie and Alphinaud’s banter, how many times I can make fun of Thancred’s age before he strangles me, Y'shtola’s good-natured savagery, Urinager’s ramblings…all of it, I promise. What I wouldn’t give to take you with us. I’ll keep looking for a way. I swear it.”
Ryne pulled back with a final sniffle and a bittersweet smile.
“I know you will. You’ve always been so good. So empathetic. Take care of Thancred and the others and make sure they rest enough.”
She looked behind your shoulder after your nod and gasped and you sighed, having an inkling on who it was.
“It’d be 0, by the way, in case that wasn’t clear. Not that I need a particular reason to mess with you. You’re losing your edge if I was able to sneak up on you like that.”
Just like that you rubbed your eyes and snarked.
“You’d have to catch me first.”
A smirk graced your lips as you stretched your arms up to crack your back, relishing in the way Ryne was smiling at your side. That’s what you liked to see.
“Good luck with that in your old-aha hehehey!! Not hehehere!”
You squealed as Thancred struck before you could finish, attacking your vulnerable underarms and making you careen forward and try to protect yourself, only to trap his hands. He continued unabated, wiggling his fingers mercilessly as he taunted you, crouching down at your side as Ryne succumbed to giggles at your plight.
“Oh? Why? Scared Ryne will see how hopelessly ticklish you are? Or mayhap it’s the Exarch you’re worried about given this is his favorite spot. He has that portal in the tower you know…I bet he could see you at any time.”
Your face flamed and you weakly tried to kick him away, finally raising your arms slightly in a desperate attempt to fight back, only for him to change targets and go for your stomach instead, gently pulling you towards him and holding you against him between his legs so he could restrain you easier.
“No of course nhahahat!!”
You didn’t need to see him to know he was smiling.
“You’re still a terrible liar to those you love, you know.”
“T-Trhihicked you once, didn’t I smartass?”
He froze, merely holding you still and you panted, looking to Ryne who was now also catching her breath, a huge grin on her face.
“Did you just curse ?”
She finally got out, breathless from her own laughter with mirth glittering in her irises.
You winced.
“Sorry I didn’t-”
“No need to apologize! I’m just surprised that’s what made you finally curse in front of me is all."
Her smile grew mischievous.
"Though I suppose I can’t blame you with your ticklishness.”
You smirked at that jerking in Thancred’s hold as if to go for her and making her jump back.
“Keep making fun and I’ll see just how ticklish you are.”
“Don’t even think about it!”
“Oh? Why not?”
“I…um… oh! Because I’ll go right to the Exarch!”
She giggled and you groaned and tossed your head back against Thancred’s chest to glare at him half-heartedly.
“… You’re her father. Are you really sure you’re okay with this type of churlish behavior?”
He snickered, quirking an eyebrow down at you.
“Well, if I wasn’t, I wouldn’t be fine with you cursing in front of her either so pick your poison.”
You rolled your eyes fondly but after a look at Ryne you smirked.
“…What if I say I’m fine with that?”
Thancred seemed mildly surprised you weren’t putting up a fight until he glanced at her too and warmth filled his eyes.
Ryne was shuffling her feet, a near giddy expression on her face as she held hope in her eyes. She enjoyed it just as you did and given you’d all be parting ways on the morrow the least she deserved was laughter in the safety of her family. She seemed ready for a chase too so you mumbled to Thancred.
“You can get me again later. Let’s team up.”
He nodded and the moment Ryne saw his arms loosen she was off like a shot, carefree laughter leaving her in waves.
“You’ll never catch me alive!”
“Wanna bet?”
You called after her but Thancred and you both gave her a head start to briefly talk strategy. Thancred opted to guard the Crystarium, so she couldn’t get to G'raha Tia without going through him and you would pursue her the usual way. You didn’t account for her to run to the others for aid.
By the time you caught up she was giggling and out of breath, hiding behind Urianger and pleading with Alphinaud with the best case of puppy eyes you’d ever witnessed.
“Ryne, c'mon bringing in outside parties isn’t fair!!”
She stuck her tongue out at you.
“You did it first with Thancred! I’m just evening the playing field!”
“Is this true?”
The look in Urianger’s eyes could only be called amusement and you blushed, sheepishly rubbing the back of your neck. You couldn’t very well explain your plan with her right there. So you went the childish route.
“She asked for it by making fun of me!”
Urinager raised an eyebrow at that and Alphinaud snickered under his breath.
“That’s not exactly new. Besides, you like it any-”
“Finish that statement Alphie and I swear…”
You fired back without thinking but instantly regretted it as he stepped forward and drew his book threateningly, Refia standing on his shoulder.
“You’re quite certain you want to talk back right now? Shall it be Cure or Lustrate then?”
He raised his hand and you leaped back, seeing Ryne dash off towards the Crystarium and praying Thancred would be quick.
You risked a glance at a confused Urianger, looking between both of you.
“Forgive me my ignorance, but you aren’t injured, correct?”
You shook your head and opened your mouth to respond but Alphinaud beat you to it, a playful grin on his face.
“Ah I understand your confusion, Urinager. No, she isn’t. However through accidental means we discovered casting healing magic on her when she no longer has the need of it…well. It tickles quite ceaselessly for a fair bit. The effects are somewhat lost thanks to my healing kit not being the most effective in comparison to Astrologians or White Mages.”
His eyes glittered with just a touch of sadism as he offered.
“…Care to see for yourself?”
You saw Urianger pondering it and just as you turned to finally get the Hell out of there you heard him speak.
“Mayhap to satiate my curiosity, then. Benefic .”
You tensed up entirely, shoulders shaking as you tried to hold back and just keep moving but your poor body wasn’t having it as you just…crouched to the ground and covered your mouth as the two leisurely strolled over.
“A-Aha-Alphinaud so help me when this sphehell f-finishes-eep-i swear to Hydaelyn-”
Said boy smiled smugly down at you, crouching to your level to pat you on the head.
“Oh come now. Just hush and ride it out, won’t you? Keep taunting me and maybe next I’ll have Urinager cast a Regen- aren’t you curious how long it’d linger given it’s long lasting nature?”
As you desperately shook your head he offered a light laugh as Urianger joined you both to observe you curiously.
“Mayhap I’ll cast another single target heal then hm?"
"How absolutely fascinating.”
Urinager’s voice stopped you from saying something stupid and getting yourself tormented further but it also made you all the more aware of the sensations wracking your body.
Healing aether typically was a cool, numbing sensation as it sought out your wounds before knitting the flesh back together. With no wounds, the healing aether searched for places to heal, growing more vehement as time passed. It was icy and the shock of the cold made the tickling worse as it finally nailed the sweet spot of your ears. You finally broke, giggles and laughs leaving you as you blushed in embarrassment, hugging yourself tightly despite your arms offering 0 protection against magic. The aether wiggled and writhed making you cover your ears and whine.
“This isn’t fhahahair!! Ahahaha!! H-How am I suphohohosed to fight h-h-hehehealing magic I can’t shehehee! U-Urinager plhehehease!”
You tried to mimic Ryne’s puppy dog eyes from earlier and he mercifully snapped out of talking to himself about possibilities and theories to pull the aether back. You panted lightly and he couldn’t hold back his curiosity.
“May I inquire as to if mine heal was indeed more mirth inducing?”
You glared at him before it broke into a smile at his innocent curiosity, nodding tiredly. Still a researcher at heart.
“Mmhmm. Alphinaud’s felt…less cold too which helped. Yours was like ice. No avoiding a sensation that demanding. And it was more exploratory. Alphinaud’s lingered in one area unless he directed it whereas yours seemed to naturally seek out injury.”
He nodded, still clearly wonderstruck.
“I’ll have to experiment more later, if that’s alright with you? Such a reaction is unheard of to even one so experienced as I.”
You blushed but nodded nonetheless. He was still somewhat new to allowing himself to tickle you, so he needed the reassurance you liked it and didn’t mind more than the others. A bit embarrassing as you saw Alphinaud snickered at you but he knew anyway so it was no big deal by now.
“A-Anyway! Thancred and I are actually trying to cheer up Ryne. She looked eager to experience it so we teamed up to get her together. Any chance you could help?”
Urianger shook his head.
“Regrettably I have already pledged my services to young Ryne and I cannot go back on my word.”
You glanced at Alphinaud and he too, shook his head.
“As if! Find Alisaie and Y'shtola to even the playing field if you wish but this is a war . Lus -”
You cut off the spell quickly as you scrambled away and to your feet after tossing powder in his face. A mild irritant but you prayed it would work.
“Ah, Silencing Powder. A typical choice for strategy, but I see thou hast forgotten I am the larger threat.”
Urianger cut off your escape to smile down at you and you cursed inwardly.
“Th-Thancred’s likely already caught her by now! He was guarding the Crystarium!”
You blurted out. Would he kill you later? Maybe. Was it worth it to both give yourself a fighting chance and also maybe see him be wrecked for once? Absolutely.
Urianger relented at that.
“Very well. ‘Tis only fair. Thou would do well to stay out of sight however. We shall not be so merciful should we meet again before the war concludes.”
You smiled nervously as Alphinaud grumbled silently at you behind Urinager and they both left.
Now, the question was to seek out Alisaie and Y'shtola or Ryne and Thancred.
A voice interrupted your pondering
“Are you quite alright my friend? You seem awfully out of breath.”
G'raha’s voice was both reassuring and panic inducing. If he was here that meant Thancred was guarding nothing! You whirled to face the red haired Miqo'te and pasted on a smile.
“J-Just fine, don’t worry! I was just getting a workout in."
Half-truths were the only way for you to not be as obvious when lying to those you cared about and luckily G'raha seemed to buy it.
"Ah I see, how nice! I was actually planning to do a spot of training myself aft-”
He was cut off by a familiar voice.
“Exarch, there you are!”
Ryne’s voice was a cheerful chirp even with Thancred hot on her heels. He seemed slower than usual and seeing the tremble of his gait and lips told you why. Seemed either Alphinaud or Urianger had tried their magic method on him too.
G'raha, bless his heart, cocked his head to the side in innocent curiosity.
“Oh? You need me for something Ryne?”
You opened your mouth to intervene but found abruptly you couldn’t move, let alone speak. Damn it all-Alphinaud slung an arm around your shoulder as Stop kicked in fully. Payback for your trick earlier, no doubt. Brat.
You could do nothing but watch as Ryne reached G'raha Tia and grinned at you before beaming up at him innocently.
“It’s nothing major, well, everyone else knows already so I figured I’d let you know she’s ti-mmph-!”
Thancred’s own affliction had worn off much to your relief, letting him cover Ryne’s mouth and smirk down at her, and as Alphinaud released you and attempted to ready another spell you tackled him to the ground and pinned him. Thank goodness Stop wore off much faster than Slow. Urianger finally rejoined, looking out of breath but he hung back and watched the scene unfold in amusement.
“Don’t even think about it!”
G'raha, for his part, merely looked between both of your pairs in bewilderment.
“…Are you hiding something from me?”
His voice and body language were sad as he looked at you expectantly.
“I know I’m new to the group but I suppose I thought you trusted me just as you do the others.”
Your eyes widened with panic.
“G-G'raha it’s nothing like that. This is…a playful affair. Nothing more.”
“You don’t have to lie to make me feel better. Ryne said everyone else already knew.”
He looked positively distraught, ears flat against his head and you let Alphinaud up with a sigh, already blushing in anticipation. But how could you not confess with G'raha looking so sad?
Thancred saw your reddening face and he too released Ryne, speaking up on your behalf. If he waited for you to work up the courage you’d never get the words out.
“She likes being tickled. That’s all. We all tease her about and with it quite often.”
G'raha blinked and then gave a knowing, if fond smile.
“Oh is that all? And here I thought it was something serious. My apologies.”
“You say that as if you already know.”
You mumbled in shock.
G'raha turned and a rare smirk made his eyes narrow in amusement.
“Mm. What of it? You asked me shortly after we met.”
You all stiffened at that, but Thancred most of all.
“Asked? Me?! I don’t remember that at all and trust me when I say I would.”
He had the good sense to look sheepish as he rubbed the back of his neck.
“There’s quite a good reason for that. You see at the camp you accidentally had tea containing catrinus…”
“Oh Twelve strike me…”
You buried your face in your hands. Not catrinus. No wonder you didn’t remember. It made Miqo'te quite affectionate and helped them lose their inhibitions. And you had a very low tolerance to it, just like alcohol.
But G'raha wasn’t finished, especially seeing as the other 4 were looking at him so expectantly.
“Catrinus affects us Miqo'tes much like alcohol, but most say it’s more potent as a general rule. She had drank the whole cup, not realizing just how much was within and so I was taking care of her, after getting her an inn room. As I made to leave, she clung to me and nuzzled my arm before asking if I would please tickle her.”
He shrugged attempting to play it off but he was as red as his hair.
“I…indulged her and then I left her to her slumber, tuckered out from my ministrations.”
There was quiet for several long moments and then Thancred and Ryne both burst out laughing and Alphinaud winced on your behalf between snickers of his own. Urianger merely looked at you with fondness in his gaze, though the humor in his eyes said it all.
“Oh my…Estinien…is going to kill you. He thought he was the first to make you ask directly. To hear you have done so willingly…i don’t envy you.”
Thancred came over to pull you into a comforting embrace, allowing you to hide your face in his chest, still snickering
“He’ll likely want to do another duel for who can make you laugh the quickest for the longest, with all 3 of us this time, you know.”
“An intriguing proposition. Given she enjoys it I see no reason to refuse.”
G'raha was collected as ever and you peeked out to find him smiling fondly at you, making you hide again.
“…You’re all mean. Estinien will never hear of this. Do you understand me? Never .”
Between snickers all present mercifully agreed and you pulled back, now somewhat collected to smile sweetly, arm held behind your back with your free hand.
“Now that that’s taken care of I do believe I have some revenge to deliver. Care to help me carry it out now that everyone’s got their mess with me points for the day?”
You turned to smile mischievously up at Thancred who grinned back and wasted no time cutting off his daughter’s exit strategy as she ended up backing right into him where he quickly but gently pinned her arms behind her back.
“You’ve caused quite a lot of mischief today Ryne..ready to experience some yourself?”
She was already giggling as you began poking along her sides and tummy playfully, making the girl curl in on herself. You glanced over your shoulder and motioned for Alphinaud and Urianger to join in.
“I’m quite certain there’s plenty of unexplored spots if you wish to map them out with me in earnest~”
“This isn’t fhahahir!!”
Ryne’s laughter was light and bubbly and made your chest warm with affection.
“Oh? But messing with me is fair game? That’s not how it works!”
The rest of the day was filled with every iota of warmth and love you could cram into it and the goodbye, while full of sorrow was also hopeful. This wouldn’t be goodbye, not if you had anything to say about it.

taking a small break from MSQ just to jot down haylin's relationship with the scions ( some story spoils under the cut btw! )
thancred - bestie, brother in arms, feels like she has her brother back, platonically loves him to the moon and back, sulks like a bitch when he goes off on metal gear solid missons bc she wants to be there but she'd fall over her own feet within the first five minutes and he knows this ( and points it out every single time )
y'shtola - 'yes ma'am whatever you say ma'am i am yours to command ma'am', adores the ground she walks on, is on her best behaviour when she's around bc she genuinely makes haylin nervous, asks her to look her over sometimes just to be certain she's 'still me'
alphinaud - her baby, her everything, her little brother, her munchkin, constantly fussing over him, constantly giving him kisses atop his head, is his scary dog privilege bc if anyone looks at him wrong her hand is twitching to clock 'em, spoils him, is her impulse control and the person who keeps her steady bc god knows haylin woulda lost it by now if he didnt hope and believe in life enough for the two of them, twelve help the poor souls that ever hurt him and help the people of the star ever still if she ever lost him
alisaie - gives into her requests for friendly competitions to encourage her, is just as protective of her but lets her fight her own battles until she needs her, when alisaie says 'i dare you' haylin always answers with 'bet', is her ultimate hypeman bc haylin's just so proud of her
estinien - her favourite chew toy, her favourite person to bother, draws her weapon just as fast as he draws lance bc she too is a fighter not a talker, pesters him regularly about how he can fight airborne bc she wants to too but he never spills the secret, is itching to get her hands on messing with his hair but will he let her? no, bc even he knows better, best bros really she's v fond of him
g'raha tia - soulmate best friend her heart her home she does not want to be anywhere he isnt ever again like she has not recovered from him being taken by hades and then watching him turn to crystal while she holds his soul and memories like a fucking tamagotchi in her hand like this is one the only times the scions saw her break down and had to carry her for a change bc damn, loves this idiot, is the dictionary definition of 'i'll do it if you will' unless its dangerous then haylin is like UMMM NO, can be found eating whatever they can get their hands on together like squirrels at the back of the group, wants to confess her feelings but doesnt want to ruin anything and believes raha deserves better, would actually burn everything if she lost him again ( cannot be certain alphinaud can talk her out of that one tbh folks )
urianger - is her own personal siri bc most of the time all anyone hears is 'hey urinager what's--', likes to mess with him but urianger knows how to distract her and ends up teaching her something instead, is her person and she loves him and goes to him often for counsel and company and QUIET, def sits in his room pretending to be bored but just wants to be near so she can SLEEP without worrying for anything
tataru - as far as haylin is concerned she is the gods favourite princess and whatever tataru wants she gets, loves this little mischief maker, purposefully makes time to spend with her bc she's so often left behind to worry and fear for everything all by herself and she wants tataru to know she is NEVER alone as long as she exists
lyse - visits her frequently to have a bit of fun and get her out of the whole meetings and business shit, seeks out mischief and trouble just to fire her up a bit, has been known to tap lyse in to take care of idiots bc it's the funniest shit to her and that's her GIRL
minfilia - misses her every goddamn day, some might say on par with how thancred misses her, thinks about her often and how lonely it is not to have her in life any more, misses their conversations and her insights, feels responsible for letting her go to hydaelyn ( actually could not look thancred in the eye for MONTHS after he was found ), damn well nearly told ryne to bring her back during that talk until she remembered how minfilia made her feel like it was alright to live her own life and follow her own path too, writes her letters sometimes just to talk to her again
papalymo - never got the chance to build a real relationship with him but she thinks about how she walked away from him without looking back that night and how she wished she'd said thank you for the way he took a chance on her and brought her to the scions, how he brought her home
krile - ultimate teammate in picking on alphinaud, wants to hear all the gossip from her, is so grateful that someone else in the group has the echo bc the echo makes her feel lonely and being able to talk to krile about it means everything, is v protective of her if only for the group
arenvald - sends letters to him with alphinaud's letters and it's usually absolute nonsense to try cheer him up, alphinaud sends him updates but haylin sends him the YOU'LL NEVER FUCKING BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED DUDE, visits him when she gets the chance, is the number one pusher for him to make a move on fordola ( when she's not around obviously shes not that stupid )
f'lhaminn - avoids her most of the time, feels too guilty to talk to her for too long or alone, asks her if she needs anything though and looks out for her the best she can
riol - desperately tries to sneak up on this asshole every time she's back at the rising stones and he catches her every time and it pisses her off so much bc she can never get the drop on him and its all she wants in life any more
honorable mention: haurchefant - visits him regularly, takes a mug of hot chocolate for herself and one to sit on his headstone, his grave is the only place she lets herself go and cry and the weight of being the warrior of light out, tells him all the adventures and how everyone is, checks in on his family and makes sure they're alright, only smiles sometimes any more because a smile better suits a hero, still feels like she cant get his blood out from under her nails, even now

What will we find in this secret room?
Ah! An echo vision!
The Exarch - as himself? as G'raha Tia? - and Urinager... Oh, I must be about to learn the truth behind their actions, and the plan they had.
Then it is as Emet-Selch proposed? You did all this for me?
Cid! Cid survived the Eighth Calamity!
Goddamn, Cid is brilliant. He figured out time travel. Or at least, a very specific form of travel that might allow someone to arrive in the past.
Oh. You're from the far future. You didn't wake up until long after Cid was dead.
I don't understand how time travel works in this universe... How can G'raha be erased from existence when we avert the calamity without our present selves being erased as well? Thus un-averting the calamity and un-erasing G'raha?
I hate time travel so much it makes my brain hurt.
Ah. Emotions. I feel them keenly, but I find my ability to articulate them is lacking.
Then... these people did all this, for me, even knowing that the very act of doing it would unwrite their existence.
I feel kind of like Urianger: holding my head in my hands and begging for a moment to get my thoughts straight.
That was indeed it then. The lies, the secrecy, all to ensure we wouldn't stop him from killing himself to save me. Urianger didn't have a vision of the future at all, that was made up as well. It feels so simple, and yet, it makes sense.
The Tempest is the ocean? What's left of the ocean? Well, I suppose that explains how it could be dark. I don't know how Emet expected me to come meet him there though. Unless he knows I can breathe underwater...

FFXIV Write 2023 Prompt #1 - Envoy
I'm actually doing it this year! Anyway, short little bit about Tataru. Mostly this is ARR, but there is one vague Endwalker spoiler if you know what to look for. (Seriously, it's one tiny line about the Scions financiers.) It is imperfect, but I just want to get back to writing period, and a huge part of my therapy is learning to be fine with not being perfect at everything I do.
Word Count: 705
----
In the wake of the Calamity, few knew of the existence of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Fewer still knew of their headquarters tucked away in an unassuming warehouse in Vesper Bay. During this blessed time Tataru Taru spent her hours poring over ledgers and books to teach herself how to manage the finances of a small clandestine operation that covered the length and breadth of Eorzea.
Or she tried to stay occupied. Despite her head for figures and her love of Minfillia's dreams of a brighter future for Eorzea, it was impossible not to grow bored in the quiet hours when the Scions were away. It was awfully lonely at times, too. Sitting at the entryway watching the door with nothing to do but stare at names and numbers scrawled over too many lines was enough to make anyone dull.
Sometimes she thought about asking Minfillia to keep her company, but the poor girl had the weight of the world on her shoulders along with the weight of Louisoix's absence. Not to mention that she had her hands full with writing missives, reading reports, and checking in on far flung allies via linkpearl multiple times in a day. Once Tataru tried to pull Urinager away from his books for some tea, but conversations with him would make her head spin, and while she loved learning, the Archon might as well be from another plane of existence with the way he spoke of prophecies, primals, and Eorzea's history.
Thus it came to be that she found other ways to while away her hours. Whether that be imagining scenarios of having to rebuff would-be peddlers from entering the Waking Sands, or singing tavern ballads quietly to herself when her eyes had grown tired from reading too many letters on a page. It was during one such performance she was startled by a plucky adventurer who'd come to ask where the wild roses bloomed. She gave that poor adventurer an earful about sneaking up on unsuspecting receptionists before going to tell Minfillia about their newest arrival.
Looking back, this was the moment everything changed. Not long after that rude interruption Tataru's days shifted from slow and uneventful to constant activity. Envoy after envoy turned up at her door asking after the adventurer who had laid Ifrit low. Some of them had nefarious intentions, while others were simply desperate for help for those still suffering the aftermath of the Calamity. The former she was quick to shoo away. The latter...
It was hard when she had to say no and harder still when she watched Minfillia despair over their inability to assist every soul in pain. While she pretended not to hear, she knew those were the moments when the leader of the Scions asked for Louisoix's guidance the most. Tataru never told the others about the tears shed, or the doubts expressed. Instead she marveled at Minfillia's ability to raise her head up to face the dawn with a straight back and squared shoulders. From that display of strength Tataru drew her own strength and pushed herself to make Minfillia's and the other Scions' burdens lighter.
No one in the Waking Sands was ever without a cup of tea, a needed book, or an ear to hear their troubles. The only guests who made it past the front door were those who had legitimate business with the Scions. The rest were quickly run off with a minimal shouting and cursing. As for finances, Minfillia never once had to worry. The ledgers were immaculate and every penny was accounted for, including the ones from a mysterious donor in Old Sharlayan whose only request was that they keep them abreast of any news regarding Louisoix's grandchildren.
As for Tataru herself, her needs would have gone unmet if not for a certain plucky adventurer who always seemed to show up at the right time and always had a moment to listen to her and encourage her. Later on she would come to realize how much of her growth as a person was only because of the people around her. Without them she'd be a simple receptionist. With them, she was able to help change the course of the world.

Short - Return to the Chaos
Good thing Nemi got some respite in Elpis, cause time moved in the present and her allies had traveled to another blasphemy crisis. She was relieved to get there not after the battle, though all of her cells protested when certain disturbing presence appeared.
Though she tensed less than on the moon, misdirected adrenaline urged her legs to sprint as reality showed its cracks, but Estinien and Thancred flanked her shoulders and nodded at her knowingly. This grounded her to the present still being real. She was still here in her body. She was safe, to herself and everybody.
The twins had grabbed Zenos' attention in the meantime, getting no more than the usual fight nonsense as answer. Nemi's pupils shrunk when Zenos addressed her, but the utter bullcrap made her blink more perplexed than anything. Even after crashing inside her mind and body, he thought in worthless delusions to the grave.
"Since when do I owe you anything? All I've got is coercion into being hurt. Find something that actually shines, and leave us alone."
Zenos would disregard this as mental fog from the current situation that's "diminished her passion," and claim he'll train and wait prompting Jullus' outrage and the rest of the cutscene that follows. She would look at Jullus with pity for the way he's finding out why all happened. Though in a way... it would be good if all the Garleans knew how little their state truly cared for them.
She didn't add anything to Alisae's speech, just sighing tiredly and looking ragged and exhausted to anyone outside of her circle, specially the Viator. When he finally left, Nemi hugged Alisae tightly and said she was so, so strong. Alisae gasped but brushed her off to refute jovially, keeping things light for Nemi.
It's so funny the only screenshot in that quest part was "oh, shadowbringer elements shoutout." This would bring a small teasing smirk out of her, which is a sign of relief to G'raha
Oh... this is n response to Urinager folllowing his heart bringing the loporrits. I didn't like the tone interruption with Puddingway. I think she would just hope the little guys can listen effectively to the people they help and be eager to go back to Sharlayan and away from the setting of the worst event of her life.

Y'Shtola and Urinager disappear
Nora: *eyes wide as her voice trembles* Y'Shtola..?
Alisaie: (The first Scion she ever knew... Gone right before her eyes. I can scarcely imagine the pain)
Alphinaud: We'll get them back
G'raha Tia: They'll be okay
Nora: Hah... *almost drops to her knees*
Alphinaud: *steadies Nora* Nora..!
Nora: I-I need a moment alone...
The three look at each other, nod and look back to Nora
Alphinaud: Okay, we'll meet you there
G'raha Tia: If you need us, let us know
Alisaie: We'll give you space
The three leave Nora alone

I’m sure you will enjoy it, it is such a great game!! even if you ignore all the MMO aspect and just play the story it is worth it and better than most games I’ve played!! my favourite NPC husband before Emet was Aymeric 💦 He is in Heavensward though so you will meet him later in the story, but once you see and hear him..you will know 👀
