My 1st graders had been talking about some of their favorite places in their neighborhoods and many of them mentioned their local parks and playgrounds. Chicago’s motto is “Urbs in Horto.” It means, “City in a Garden.” . When the city adopted the slogan in 1837 there weren’t many parks (or as many beautiful beds of tulips!) but that didn’t matter.
