i groan, sitting up seeing the time 11:47PM

there's no use, i just can't sleep. i look over to my boyfriend matt, sleeping peacefully, making me smile.

i get up to put my shoes on but feel someone grab my wrist, looking back seeing matt, sitting up and looking at me.

one look in that dark room is all it took, matt grabbing his keys as i grab my coat.

the car ride filled with his lighthearted jokes and small talk as he pulls up to our usual coffee spot, the time now being midnight.

we order and sit down outside, admiring eachother.

i look down at his chain seeing how bright the light is reflecting off of it, confusion filling my eyes.

"look up" he says, snapping me out of my trance seeing the bright sky filled with stars and a full moon.

the drive home was filled with a silence i could feel, something felt different.

Coz regulus and Sirius being named after stars make their symbols stars combined with the fact James is a literal sunshine and Remus being a werewolf makes him a moon but what about our unhinged psychos Barty and Evan?? OH MY GOSH I LOVE BEING ASKED STUFF OKAY SO.

I'm gonna extend the question a little and answer for some more characters lol.

I love the symbolism in this fandom. We have such beautiful ship names because of it.

Sunflower, Wolfstar, Starchaser, etc etc.

The main five characters that people focus on have a lot of symbolism.

James - Stag, Sun, Chaser.

Sirius - Star, Dog.

Remus - Wolf, Moon.

Lily - Flower, Doe.

Regulus - Star, Water, Seeker.

But what about the rest of the characters?

For Marlene, I typically use the symbolism of a star or a sea, since that is what her name means! I also use a lioness for her, since that's what I think her patronus would be!

Dorcas's name literally translates to gazelle, which is why I sometimes refer to Dorlene as Starzelle! But another thing I typically think of for her are Orcas. One - because it's literally in her name and two - because they often leave their pods if they are not thriving. (Dorcas leaves the skittles because of their differing world views).

Mary's name means love or beloved one. And as someone who headcanons her birthday as being February 14th, I think that love symbolizing her is perfect. Other than that, I also associate pearls with her, because to put it simply - beauty formed under pressure.

When it comes to Pandora, I always think of butterflies or a swan animal wise. Her name means "All-Gifted" which I can't really do much with symbol wise. When it comes to mythology, to sum up who Pandora was "given a jar containing all the evils of the world. she ends up opening the jar, releasing those evils but also leaving behind hope at the bottom." And I also can't do much with that. :/ I also could see her being associated with an amethyst, because they symbolize spiritual insight.

With Barty, his name literally means "honored son" which is really ironic considering his entire personality is hating his dad. A lot of people use "killer" to symbolize him even though the only canon character he killed was his father. (Then again, he was a death eater!) I like to associate snakes and thorns with him though!

Besides the obvious rose symbolism, Evan can mean "young warrior" or "rock." If I take into account my headcanon where his full name is "Evander" (he and Pandora were both named after mythological figures), Evander was the hero who brought the PANTHEON (the skittles alternative name!!!) to Italy. I also tend to associate him with fire.

Finally, for Peter - he's obviously associated with being a rat, both physically and metaphorically. But his name also means stone, and ask he strays away from the marauders, he becomes "stone-faced". I don't have much for Peter to be quite honest. 😭

Plus, the “working for the knife” is so Armand doing everything for things that will only destroy him. Also, the passage I chose is soo show Armand to me, with him being in his late 20s. Wishing he would have been “done” (dead) by 20 when he was Marius’ slave, to feeling in the same position at 27, though having been 27 for 500 years so he will never reach 30 and find a way to change. ;(

I could go on forever about how we love to look into the vast unknown to find reflections of ourselves, and how i think star trek is an extension of that urge we've clearly been having since the dawn of time. Its not just the need to study things that will help with our everyday lives (like looking at the harvest moon), its the way we often take a celestial body and make it the symbol of a human characteristic, like how klingons represent honour and vulcans represent logic. what we think about space and what we do to fill in the gaps of the unknown say a lot about how we think in general. and according to trek we think a lot about weird little blokes in weird little outfits so. yh fair enough

astrology: using the wisdom of the stars in your every day life by carole taylor. this is a modern book but i really think it's a good mix of older astrological schools of thought and modern ones. it's also really a pretty book and is a great conversation starter when you bust it out.

you were born for this by chani nicholas. she is also a believer in the philosophy that there are no bad placements, just lack of perspective on how to make them work for you. this book only covers sun, moon, rising but for beginners you don't need much more than that.

parker's astrology is the bible to me. it covers everything you could ever want and more although i do disagree with some of their takes i know it's bc i've seen those placements function first hand so i'm expressing my own experience rather than listening objectively but overall, a great book and resource.

ANYWAYS THE HCS UR DRAWING SPECIFICALLY LINED UP WITH ARE:

Moon being taller/generally bigger than Sig…normally i’m not feral over height differences but god theirs drives me insane

Moon loving the stars. I feel like after her collapse, they were one of the few things that brought her comfort. Within canon I’m pretty sure you can see the stars even during the day (they’re green too!! super cool) so she loves to study them and their movements. The rare occasions when the rain comes after night falls are her favorites, being able to see them more clearly in the dark always excites her. Going on a lil stargazing date would probably melt her heart !!

Sig being fucking whipped for Moon 😭 this is a fucking given but him being distracted and at Moon instead of the sky because she considers her prettier than even the starts makes me. AUGH.

(More general hcs below the cut so this post doesn’t become a million miles long)

Sig learns to knit and makes Moon a scarf and a couple cloaks after her collapse. He actually has a lot of hobbies because he doesn’t think the great problem is solvable, nor does he really care to solve it anyways. He even says he’s got “nothing better to do with my time” when Suns asks him if he’s going to purpose another messenger. Meanwhile Suns says “you have two options, do nothing or work like you’re supposed to” in terms of what to do with your time.

Moon loves picking Sig up/holding her/generally grabbing her n throwing her around because she’s actually quite strong and Sig is smaller than her. Sig does not mind in the slightest.

They’re both interested in bioengineering. Sig more so, but Moon mentons Rivulet’s interesting adaptations and knows a lot about the flora and fauna of the world. I think they bonded over this quite a bit.

Speaking of, Sig was also a more medical-oriented facility. Pebbles mentions that he “was not a medical facility even when the equipment was functioning” to hunter, so the iterators may have had more specialized niches as the generations went on. Therefore, she becomes the sort of defacto “puppet-doctor” of the local group, helping to fix things like broken joints or umbilicals after the ancients disappear. Also just the slag reset keys in general. I have a drawing about this I’m finishing soon so watch out for that hehe

Moon’s kindness absolutely rubbed off on Sig. When he first got put online, she interacted with him a lot as his personality core was still developing, and he picked up on some of her traits. In terms of age I see their group as Moon and Suns (gen 1), Sig and Chasing Wind (mid gen) and Unparalleled Innocence and Pebbles (final gen).

SIG TEACHING MOON STUPID GAMER LINGO AND UWU SPEAK CAUSES A DISASTER IN THE LOCAL GROUP CHATS. The first time she says “poggers” sends everyone into an uproar and Sig gets multiple DMs being like “WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS.”. Sig thinks it’s the funniest shit in the world.

Moon’s nickname for Sig is “doll”. “Little thing” is also a common one, since Sig jokes that his gender is just “thingy”.

Eclipse bitterly gives the star back to Moon (who isn’t reset btw!) who either destroys it or keeps it real real locked away, I haven’t decided yet. I think the next several months would be everyone sort of putting their guards down and setting things aside for the sake of being like, “well. we can actually just live… normal lives. we can be like actual people now if we wanted. we don’t have to worry about a persistent, lurking threat… so. who wants to come make a barbie dreamhouse with me.” ya know AHSJABDD

So! Due to a reason I haven’t fully decided on yet (either the pizzaplex is no longer inhabitable or it was shut down because of how much shady shit has happened), Sun and Moon no longer have the pizzaplex to work and stay at and didn’t rlly know what 2 do at that point. Earth says that running their own daycare without the influence of fazbear entertainment over their heads is a possibility, and since it’s mostly second nature to them now, they agreed. The building has an area in the back that is disguised as an “employees only” area but that’s just bc it’s where they have their bedrooms and living space stuff lol

Killcode had insisted it be alone after Eclipse stepped down, but Solar Flare’s base programming said that they must help Killcode at every turn. At this point, their sentience had further developed, and KC was like “dude. buddy. u don’t have to follow ur base code u know that right. u can do whatever u want forever.” and Solar Flare was just kinda like. “well. uhm. well what if i want to still stay with you. what if i just want to be around you, despite my primary objective of protecting you.” and KC was like “that’s. that’s really sweet actually okay if u insist” and now I have to just sort out what their living situation is LMAO

Lunar has their own place!!!! I think this was something I decided almost immediately because I don’t think they’d have a whole HOUSE for themselves, but I do think they’d want their own little one bedroom apartment yk?? So they can actually feel independent!! At the time of the story they haven’t had it long enough to be like, super decorated or anything, but it’s still their own home and they love it to death.

and Bloodmoon is the one who’s often at Lunar’s apartment!!! They visit often enough that Lunar has a little area in the living room for them to call their own, as well as a whole shelf in the fridge dedicated to keeping blood bags so they don’t go hungry when they visit. KC also has the same tho!! Except KC might have a whole room for them, depending on whether I make them settled or wanderers.

Eclipse chose where he lives himself. He knows it’s far, he knows it’s quiet, he knows it’s not really his element, but he knows what he’s done. He knows that most of the cast is still in the area where the pizzaplex was, and he doesn’t want to risk bumping into anyone on the off chance it’s someone who decides they should finish their plan to kill him. He isn’t really better, though. He sits and he stews in his own frustration until he can’t handle it anymore and either breaks something or obsessively buries himself in a project so he doesn’t have to think about his own emotions. A stray cat visits him every few days, though, and he thinks he’s starting to get attached.

i think u are the moon because to even think of holding someone's love this way is such a Moon thing. but also, the moon only reflects the sun's light, so being the sun means that u have so much light within you it is able to touch other's souls and brighten them up as well!!!! it's such a beautiful thing to have the sun for a heart,,,,,,,, U ARE BOTH I DECLARE!!!!!!!!!
