My thoughts on the rest of rehearsal clips, once again, spoilers below the cut.
Denmark is very green, not impressive but a suitable staging for this song I guess
Armenia looks good (heh), I’m intrigued about the full performance
Romania not very impressive, at least they ditched that stripper show from the NF
I like Alika’s outfit, nice to see a ballad that doesn’t resort to the usual black or white aesthetic
Belgium is cute and pink, the dancer seems to upstage Gustaph
Cyprus looks very polished and professional, Andrew’s vocals are on point too
Iceland: nice but lacking, hard to see this qualifying
Greece has some nice Greek letters in the background, Victor moving too much on stage for a song like this
Blanka’s dress is pretty
Slovenia: a performance similar to the music video, nothing surprising but works well
Georgia looks and sounds amazing! The most impressive clip from the second semi
San Marino’s staging is nice but the song still does nothing to me
I like Austria’s colour scheme
Albania has a touch of epic fantasy, a very Balkan ballad-esque staging
Monika should get to the final for those vocals alone
Australia brings a super energetic finish to the semi, there’s also a car on stage?
Germany brings in some Blind Channel style pyros, there def won’t be zero points for Deutschland this time
France: very stylish, very glittery
Italy looks simple, then again a ballad doesn’t need gimmicky staging
Ukraine looks cool, an upgraded version of the NF performance
Spain: nothing we haven’t seen before, but it should impress casual audiences
The British clip was missing but judging from the pics I’ve seen, it’s gonna be a wacky staging. Could be a bop or a flop.
Final judgement: The winner of the second semi will be a country starting with “A”. The victory of the overall contest will be a two-horse race between France and Sweden. Finland will get a top five score thanks to the televote, and Israel could pull a Foureira. Of the possible dark horses, Germany seems like a strong candidate.
Last place in the final? Probably Estonia or Albania.

Features: The NF-A14 is a premium quality quiet 140mm fan with a square frame that complies with Noctua's AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) standard. Its square shape and 140mm mounting holes (124.5mm spacing) make it ideal for use on watercooling radiators or as an upgrade for 140mm case fans. Featuring sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A14 further improves the renowned quiet cooling performance of the award-winning NF-P14. The PWM version sports Noctua's custom designed NE-FD1 IC for fully automatic speed control via 4-pin fan headers and comes with a Low-Noise-Adaptor to reduce the maximum speed during PWM control from 1500rpm to 1200rpm. Its performance-oriented 1500rpm top speed and comprehensive speed control options make the NF-A14 PWM an elite choice for users who strive to strike a perfect balance between excellent cooling capacity and superb quietness of operation, be it on watercooling radiators, on heatsinks or in case ventilation. Succeeding the award-winning NF-P14 Noctua's NF-P14 fan has become a default-choice among PC enthusiasts looking for a premium quality quiet 140mm fan. Thanks to its thoroughgoing aerodynamic optimisations, the NF-A14 provides higher static pressure and an even better airflow/noise ratio than its much acclaimed predecessor. Square 140mm frame The NF-A14's square 140mm frame with 140mm mounting holes (124.5mm spacing) makes it a premium grade replacement for common 140mm case fans and perfect for use on 140mm water cooling radiators, where its square shape will ensure full coverage and best pressure performance. Flow Acceleration Channels The NF-A14 impeller features suction side Flow Acceleration Channels. By speeding up the airflow at the crucial outer blade regions, this measure reduces suction side flow separation and thus leads to better efficiency and lower vortex noise. AAO frame Noctua's AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frames feature integrated anti-vibration pads as well as Noctua's proprietary Stepped Inlet Design and Inner Surface Microstructures, both of which further refine the fan's performance/noise efficiency. Stepped Inlet Design Noctua's Stepped Inlet Design adds turbulence to the influx in order to facilitate the transition from laminar flow to turbulent flow, which reduces tonal intake noise, improves flow attachment and increases suction capacity, especially in space-restricted environments. Inner Surface Microstructures With the tips of the fan blades ploughing through the boundary layer created by the Inner Surface Microstructures, flow separation from the suction side of the blades is significantly suppressed, which results in reduced blade passing noise and improved airflow and pressure efficiency. Integrated anti-vibration pads Integrated anti-vibration pads made from extra-soft silicone minimise the transmission of minute vibrations while maintaining full compatibility with all standard screws and other mounting systems. SSO2 Bearing The NF-A14 features the further optimised second generation of Noctua's renowned, time-tested SSO bearing. With SSO2, the rear magnet is placed closer to the axis to provide even better stabilisation, precision and durability. Metal bearing shell In order to guarantee the highest possible degree of manufacturing precision, minimum tolerance and excellent long-term stability, the NF-A14 sports a CNC milled bearing shell made entirely from brass. Custom-designed PWM IC with SCD Supporting fully automatic PWM speed control, the NF-A14 PWM uses Noctua's novel, custom-designed NE-FD1 PWM IC that integrates Smooth Commutation Drive (SCD) technology. By providing smoother torque impulses, SCD suppresses PWM switching noises and thus makes the fan quieter at low speeds. Stops at 0% PWM When the fan is set to 0% PWM duty cycle by the motherboard or PWM fan controller, it will stop. This makes it ideal for creating setups with semi-passive cooling that automatically turn the fans off and thus run completely silent at idle if thermals allow. Low-Noise Adaptor The NF-A14 PWM is supplied with a (L.N.A.) that reduces the maximum fan speed from 1500 to 1200rpm. The L.N.A. can be used either to run the fan at a fixed speed of 1200rpm or to cap the maximum speed when using automatic PWM control. Extensive cabling options The fan's short 20cm primary cable minimises cable clutter in typical applications while the supplied 30cm extension provides extended reach when necessary. Both cables are fully sleeved and a 4-pin y-cable allows the connection of a second NF-A14 PWM fan to the same PWM fan header for automatic control. Specifications: Size 140x140x25 mm Mounting hole spacing 124,5x124,5 mm Connector & pin-configuration 4-pin PWM Cable length 20cm + 30cm NA-EC1 extension cable Bearing SSO2 Blade geometry A-Series with Flow Acceleration Channels Frame technology AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) Rotational speed (+/- 10%) 1500 RPM Rotational speed with L.N.A. Denmark brings the non-modern 80s sound to Rotterdam 2021
youtube
Filler review in between me doing a shit ton of things at the same time and saving two of the writeups I at least wanted to do before Semi 1 or so, plus there’s a Turquoise carpet underway. Lessgooooooo Denmark
ARTIST & ENTRY INFO
Fyr og Flamme is a collective of two men, singer Jesper Groth and instrumentalist Laurits Emanuel. Together they don’t have much history as they formed in the Ben & Tan year 2020, but they have a couple of succesful (and their only prior to Eurovision) singles under their belt already, like, their first one, titled “Menneskeforbruger”, reached number one on a Danish radio top list once. Prior to the DMGP lineup release, amidst a bunch of few song and talent show wonders, they were the only act I’ve heard of and coincidentally even liked their music somewhat.
Their song, titled “Øve os på hinanden”, is about dancing. Fitting because their entry, which is more of an 80s rehash than an 80s throwback (as in, 80s but with a little something modern a la Dua Lipa), is all about the groovy music that would probably come all out after disco decade became over. Moreso, dancing of two partners and practicing the dancing on each other, somewhat. Lyrics are in Danish - first time a Danish entry is fully in Danish since 1997! History right there! Most other acts would mostly translate their Danish song into English once the language rule went abolished, but not these guys, because why they need to do a TIX and make an English song in their 3 song discography anyway. Good ^^
REVIEW
Sounds like one of those songs this year that can elicit the “guilty pleasure” reactions. Like Poland, which is mine. But for me Denmark is an actual pleasure, in a way?
The instant intro of the first few seconds really makes it a good blast of energy, because who isn’t resisting towards a nice little 80s synth. I don’t really fancy the verses being in a major key but they still feel very 80s in nature. And the chorus is really catchy, and so is the bridge, which is kinda maybe the best part of the song alongside the instrumental super 80s bits. I don’t know if Jesper is able to emulate an 80s vocal sound with his voice, but the whole band at least looks their part, at the very least, for Eurovision?
It also incorporates clapping. Just for the edgy “I don’t clap along to Soldi but I will clap to this” crowds out there. I love me some Eurovision clap songs.
But Denmark is kinda too prone to sending throwbacks that don’t add much new? Like, we got this 70s-esque throwback song from 2015, it can be very well argued that Lighthouse X were throwbacks to early 2010s boyband music that wasn’t as loud as the one of One Direction, 2014 had shades of the classic Bruno Mars of the time who himself have upgraded to sound like smooth R’n’B man for the ladies who sings about getting it with the ladies... are people in Denmark a little too nostalgic for their own good sometimes? Let me go there one day when panini subsides and check if they have a spare DeLorean, just for the fun of it, and if they keep the Deloreans as their biggest prized possessions in a way.
Overall a pretty standard dance song to dance to, if I expected some other mood being projected throughout it I’d straight up look at Gjon’s Tears staging. *orchestral music* Tout l’univeeeeeers *proceeds to moves arms like he’s performing “Rap God” in a talent show*
Yeah I like it, but I absolutely love the orchestral version posted above?? The big gall of DMGP to include orchestra on their NF while Albania’s NF traded it for a while just to have artists perform in the freezing cold outside instead... of course everything sounds better with orchestra. Smh at those who think otherwise
youtube
This is how the studio version sounds like by the way. All that review was for this. How does the studio pale in comparison to the orchestra, do you think
Approval factor: Yeah, maybe there’s some of it in me for this one too! Follow-up factor: Another broadcaster being cunts to their former act. Public outcries have been done ever since DR revealed the DMGP lineup and made them realize there’s no Ben and Tan in it, eventhough they said they would not send an entry to the next DMGP, but yet they did because they felt like it, and it was revealed in an ultimate dickish move that Ben and Tan were never allowed to re-enter in the first place. :’) Some say it’s because of prompting sympathy votes (as if Aksel and The Mamas needed any to win their NFs, OH WAIT.), some might even say it was because DR was too scared to do well and Ben and Tan were just *that* awesome. Songwise, I like their both entries equally, and it’s a nice Danish marketing move to go from one background music to another (but in 80s style). So it’s a move to an interestingly straight decent line, I guess. Qualification factor: In semifinals like these, when there are just that many good songs that cannot miss out on a final spot, some of them actually do end up in that unfortunate position unless they don’t... Denmark has a little bit of a chance? From the possible hopeless bunch I can only see one of Austria, Portugal and Denmark making it. Poland, a fellow 80s-like Nordic song, is too comedic to be taken seriously by the up-and-coming televoting community. Georgia is too mellow. Denmark stands out with a fun way of their own 80s, Portugal and Austria have decent live performances and stagings at the same time, one of which Fyr og Flamme might lack lol, but that doesn’t mean housewives don’t vote for something that reminds them of their youth years, no?
NF CORNER
Thankfully that apart from Ben & Tan fiasco you’re not missing out on much.
DMGP chose a weird kind of way to reveal entries - during 3 separate radio shows in between two channels amidst all kinds of random world&Danish popular music. During which presumably both radio stations played the soon-to-be-winning Fyr og Flamme’s entry a second time after the premiere. Like if we don’t know who’s winning already, huh, huh???
Well, there are at least some above-the-par entries, and a couple of my favourites were Emma Nicoline (synthpop in Danish which in her case of victory would’ve likely been translated in English???? hopefully not so we could’ve had a win-win in case Fyr og Flamme didn’t win) and Mike Tramp (yeehaw in English, and much different than what he did in Eurovision 1978 with the group Mabel and yet another song about rhythm, enough to incorporate live drum playing from a band member itself during the performance... their own prop drum, mind you). They probably sound a whole lot better in orcestra than they are in these studio versions, so go check them out on Youtube as well, if you’re willing. Much cheers
Also the funny thing about them - Jesper is from a little barely heard of island called Ærø, who coincidentally shares a flag with Lithuania’s, but their colors are much brighter than ours. I bring it up that it’s barely heard of because some Danish viewers (and the international ones that could’ve gotten a hold of the stream) were confused as to why Fyr og Flamme waved “Lithuanian” flags in the DMGP greenroom. I’ve heard about that as well. I know a person from Ærø. I was confused too at first. I’ve been there. And it’s thanks to that person I’ve heard of Fyr og Flamme. Ærø supports Ærø, it seems
ANY LAST WORDS?
Honestly, if they qualify (and so does Portugal), I lowkey hope for their NF to have more songs in their native language? Leonora went on to start something when singing a piece of her song in Danish, Fyr og Flamme continued the iniciative, lord knows if it continues to continue and give them a fruitful outcome in the end.
As for why I mentioned Portugal and language variety, well... there can still be winners in the Portuguese language, just it would be an initiative to RTP to invite more English-singing Portuguese songwriters who’d otherwise not really participate in FdC if they were asked to only sing in Portuguese? I don’t know, really. But yeah. Maybe.

Incredibly Loud Ferrari 812 N-Largo Attracts Unwanted Attention In South Africa

Incredibly Loud Ferrari 812 N-Largo Attracts Unwanted Attention In South Africa
Several elements contribute to the dynamic driving experience. The car's soundtrack is one of these elements plus carmakers and even tuners have been obtaining ways to ensure that a potent automobile can be defined by the most suitable sound. Novitec has done this to its very own version of the Ferrari 812 Superfast —the 812 N-Largo. The Ferrari 812 N-Largo is the most recent featured car associated with Novitec’s "The Supercar Diaries, inch with host Bijon de Kock taking the only example on the Africa continent for a sweet yet noisy drive.
[embed]https://youtube.com/watch?v=TIk2U-jIMtg&feature=oembed[/embed]
Bijon managed to trace this specific 812 N-Largo to Johannesburg, S. africa, in the possession of a certain Marco Casciani (@race1 on Instagram). Interestingly, Marco also owned the other cars showcased in "The Supercar Diaries. inch This modified Ferrari started out as an 812 Superfast, until this and 17 others were transformed by Novitec into the 812 N-Largo.
According to Bijon, this particular 812 N-Largo used to be wrapped within a metallic dark blue color, great it sports a matte red complete. The N-Largo body kit produced this Ferrari wider and look a lot more planted to the road. Its big fender wells are home in order to Novitec's NF 10 NL hi-tech forged wheels, while its carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer aerodynamic dark elements contrast the particular fiery exterior color.
https://www.instagram.com/p/CLB6_DoFZCt
The Novitec Ferrari 812 N-Largo, however , is more than just carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer body and aerodynamic elements. It is also about greater power, better suspension system, and louder sound. The 812 N-Largo has been upgraded to 828 hp (618 kW) of maximum output, which allows it to splash from nil to 62 your in 2 . 8 seconds plus reach a top speed of 152 mph (345 km/h). This strength upgrade is complemented by a modified suspension with front lift program.
ASSOCIATED: Ferrari 812 GTS By Novitec Sports More Aggressive Looks Plus Ups Horsepower To 840
As the movie shows, the 812 N-Largo comes with a Novitec high-performance quad exhaust system, which usually practically amplifies the already noisy sound of the V12 engine. The particular piercing roar of the 812 N-Largo is so deafening that it can be noticed from far away, attracting attention all over the place. Its audiogasmic sound practically announces its presence.
Since the 812 N-Largo is so loud, this even grabbed the attention of individuals along with rifles and stopped Bijon. This seemed they were just curious about the boisterous nature of this bright red-colored Ferrari. Who wouldn't be?

Linux iso usb maker
So instead I propose # dd count= if=/dev/sdb of=win7.img Note, this copies the whole device! - which is usually (much) bigger than the files copied to it. Check the boot checkbox, then close.Īfter all that, you probably want to back up your USB media for further installations and get rid of the ISO file. Open gparted, select the USB drive, right-click on the file system, then click on "Manage Flags". or use the standard GUI file-browser of your systemĬall sync to make sure all files are written. Mount ISO and USB media: # mount -o loop win7.iso /mnt/iso
or (if syslinux is installed), you can run sudo dd if=/usr/lib/syslinux/mbr/mbr.bin of=/dev/sdb.
on newer Ubuntu installs) sudo lilo -M /dev/sdb mbr ( info) Write Windows 7 MBR on the USB stick (also works for windows 8), multiple options here: # cfdisk /dev/sdb or fdisk /dev/sdb (partition type 7, and bootable flag) Delete all partitions, create a new one taking up all the space, set type to NTFS (7), and remember to set it bootable: Grub is installed there!)Ĭheck what device your USB media is assigned - here we will assume it is /dev/sdb. Or alternatively, make sure lilo is installed (but do not run the liloconfig step on your local box if e.g. Install ms-sys - if it is not in your repositories, get it here. This works with the Windows 7 retail version. Basically, the missing step was to write a proper boot sector to the USB stick, which can be done from Linux with ms-sys or lilo -M. Use of livecd-iso-to-disk on any distribution other than Fedora is unsupported and not expected to work: please use an alternative method, such as Fedora Media Writer.OK, after unsuccessfully trying all methods mentioned here, I finally got it working. Even if it happens to run and write a stick apparently successfully from some other distribution, the stick may well fail to boot. Livecd-iso-to-disk is not meant to be run from a non-Fedora system. livecd-iso-to-disk on other Linux distributions If your test boot reports a corrupted boot sector, or you get the message MBR appears to be blank., you need to install or reset the master boot record (MBR), by passing -reset-mbr when writing the stick. If you get this message from fdisk, you may need to reformat the flash drive when writing the image, by passing -format when writing the stick. Partition has different physical/logical endings If you get the message Need to have a filesystem label or UUID for your USB device, you need to label the partition: dosfslabel /dev/sdX LIVE. Information: Don't forget to update /etc/fstab, if necessary.

You have a running OpenShift Cluster powering your production microservices and worried about etcd data backup?. In this guide we show you how to easily backup etcd and push the backup data to AWS S3 object store. An etcd is a key-value store for OpenShift Container Platform, which persists the state of all resource objects. In any OpenShift Cluster administration, it is a good and recommended practice to back up your cluster’s etcd data regularly and store it in a secure location. The ideal location for data storage is outside the OpenShift Container Platform environment. This can be an NFS server share, secondary server in your Infrastructure or in a Cloud environment. The other recommendation is taking etcd backups during non-peak usage hours, as the action is blocking in nature. Ensure etcd backup operation is performed after any OpenShift Cluster upgrade. The importance of this is that during cluster restoration, an etcd backup taken from the same z-stream release must be used. As an example, an OpenShift Container Platform 4.6.3 cluster must use an etcd backup that was taken from 4.6.3. Step 1: Login to one Master Node in the Cluster The etcd cluster backup has to be performed on a single invocation of the backup script on a master host. Do not take a backup for each master host. Login to one master node either through SSH or debug session: # SSH Access $ ssh core@ # Debug session $ oc debug node/ For a debug session you need to change your root directory to the host: sh-4.6# chroot /host If the cluster-wide proxy is enabled, be sure that you have exported the NO_PROXY, HTTP_PROXY, and HTTPS_PROXY environment variables. Step 2: Perform etcd Backup on OpenShift 4.x An OpenShift cluster access as a user with the cluster-admin role is required to perform this operation. Before you proceed check to confirm if proxy is enabled: $ oc get proxy cluster -o yaml If you have proxy enabled, httpProxy, httpsProxy, and noProxy fields will have the values set. Run the cluster-backup.sh script to initiate etcd backup process. You should pass a path where backup is saved. $ mkdir /home/core/etcd_backups $ sudo /usr/local/bin/cluster-backup.sh /home/core/etcd_backups Here is my command execution output: 3e53f83f3c02b43dfa8d282265c1b0f9789bcda827c4e13110a9b6f6612d447c etcdctl version: 3.3.18 API version: 3.3 found latest kube-apiserver-pod: /etc/kubernetes/static-pod-resources/kube-apiserver-pod-115 found latest kube-controller-manager-pod: /etc/kubernetes/static-pod-resources/kube-controller-manager-pod-24 found latest kube-scheduler-pod: /etc/kubernetes/static-pod-resources/kube-scheduler-pod-26 found latest etcd-pod: /etc/kubernetes/static-pod-resources/etcd-pod-11 Snapshot saved at /home/core/etcd_backups/snapshot_2021-03-16_134036.db snapshot db and kube resources are successfully saved to /home/core/etcd_backups List files in the backup directory: $ ls -1 /home/core/etcd_backups/ snapshot_2021-03-16_134036.db static_kuberesources_2021-03-16_134036.tar.gz $ du -sh /home/core/etcd_backups/* 1.5G /home/core/etcd_backups/snapshot_2021-03-16_134036.db 76K /home/core/etcd_backups/static_kuberesources_2021-03-16_134036.tar.gz There will be two files in the backup: snapshot_.db: This file is the etcd snapshot. static_kuberesources_.tar.gz: This file contains the resources for the static pods. If etcd encryption is enabled, it also contains the encryption keys for the etcd snapshot. Step 3: Push the Backup to AWS S3 (From Bastion Server) Login from Bastion Server and copy backup files. scp -r core@serverip:/home/core/etcd_backups ~/ Install AWS CLI tool: curl "https://awscli.amazonaws.com/awscli-exe-linux-x86_64.zip" -o "awscliv2.zip" Install unzip tool: sudo yum -y install unzip Extract downloaded file: unzip awscli-exe-linux-x86_64.zip Install AWS CLI: $ sudo ./aws/install You can now run: /usr/local/bin/aws --version Confirm installation by checking the version:

My (very brief) thoughts on the first semi’s rehearsal clips, don’t read further if you don’t want spoilers.
Norway looks good, mostly similar to the NF performance, also some cool LED effects?
Malta looks like an upgraded version of the NF, I so badly wish they weren’t in the bloodbath semi because the final needs this kind of pure happiness
Serbia: a big WOW, also upgraded from NF, quite a mood switch after Malta
Latvia looks very similar to the NF, not a bad performance but feels underwhelming after the first three
Mimicat looks and sounds good, I can’t help but think of Käärijä’s dancers though
Ireland’s golden suit was a choice... still can’t get behind the song
Croatia seems to have added some choreography to the Dora performance, rehearsal clip looks time but I’m already scared of what they’ll do at the end of the show
Switzerland is another mood switch, performance looks polished
Noa Kirel is a DIVA!
I like the Moldovan performance and the outfits, just worried about their chances after Israel
Loreen sounds good, but what are those camera angles?
Azerbaijan looks cute, reminds me of Denmark 2021
Czechia has improved a lot since the NF, not sure if it will be quite enough
Netherlands has a solid performance, somehow I’m reminded of that why-why song from a few years back
Käärijä saw Loreen’s prop and said: hold my giant box
Overall, I think Finland and Israel are the frontrunners for a semi victory based on these clips. Sweden needs to get their angles right if they want to get back in the game. I’m now more confident over the chances of my personal winner Serbia, whereas my unpopular faves Malta and Portugal are worrying me a little. I so hope they both will qualify but that seems unlikely.

A cpanel server is a hosting service that provides an interface to the Linux operating system. The main purpose of the cpanel server is to provide a web-based interface for managing multiple servers.
The name “cpanel” is derived from the CPanel software which was originally developed by CompuServe. It was later acquired by Netscape, and then sold to Microsoft. Since it was acquired by Microsoft, it has been used in other products like Server Manager and Windows Server 2003’s Server Core installation option. The term “cpanel” has also been used as a generic term for any web-based administration tool that provides an interface to Linux operating system's file system and directories, such as NFS, Samba or FTP servers. The main function of cPanel is the management of web-based administration tools, including webmail programs and FTP servers. The cPanel suite includes many options and configuration settings that may be altered or modified by an administrator. Many options could be configured to allow administrators to control access to restricted areas of the system or restrict certain types of users from accessing particular directories, files or services.

Tel Aviv 2019: Straight outta Latvia to Eurovision with a cinematic French rendez-vous
youtube
Supernova with their strict-on decision to only focus on all that’s radiofriendly this year went to hell for me. I mean, I like me some pop tunes, but not those that are purposefully marketed to be enjoyed by the massive sheeps of the Eurofandom who usually fall for those songs by Michael James Down, Will Taylor, even Ylva & Linda... because at the end of the day they’re all just shallow and pointless outside the ESC bubble.
Well the best they could do is to accept some different winds out of nowhere! And so they did when the audition stage hit place and we guys got to witness the 33 shortlisted tunes for this year, among which of them are loudly and proudly different - like “Alligator” and “Grow”, which I did not fathom but I was also raging for their not qualification for - more precisely “Alligator” which was way more outstanding of those two I mentioned. The guys that performed that song were fun, their performance choice was fun, they could have totally rocked on Supernova... but alas.
In fact not that many alternative songs made it to the final down-to-16 cut! There might have been a couple of those that sound nothing a radio would play unless it’s not playing pop on its purpose (Laime Pilnīga’s ”Awe” comes to mind right away), but in the end of the day, not many of those survived and we were graced with some... choices, like letting Samanta Tina waste herself on a cocky-ass tune with terrible chorus rhyme-scheme and unbearable charisma and putting through the most Eirodziesma-like mess-fest with the Beaver guy on top of it. Honey I like you in costume but... not in this emploi.
I don’t blame them though, as one of non-blatant-pop tunes conquered the Latvian hearts for this year. These next Latvian people in Laura Rizzotto’s succession are collectively named Carousel and their song is “That Night”.
It sets a romantic mood throughout, like we all are reliving this magical last date - it was in a restaurant, the candles were lit, the restaurant looked vintage with bordeaux satin tablecloth on the table, and the couple is having a smooth evening... until the love runs out to the probably cold and rainy streets and the other half of the couple starts longing for one's love. That's all I can imagine with this.
So yeah, I really like this! It's got lovely instrumentation that doesn't need all the over the top instruments - just guitar, simple drums, etc.; the noir flair is distinct on here and that's not bad on here; this is just a simple and soft song that you too could play in your own restaurants when all the lovely couples have romantic dinners and sip wine. And in some kind of a French movie, too (with the lead role being a curly redhead artiste with striped sweater, looking for love in Paris (because it’s so romantic in there honhonhon). I'm not sure if the revamp touched upon this one little problem I noticed but the problem kinda seems to be that the chorus repeats. A lot. And verses are way too short that they could be easily forgotten against the 4th and 5th time one would be hearing the "lo-o-o-o-ove, where? Are? You?" line, and then lulled into sleep at how peacefully relaxing it is. Which is indeed of a problem because repetition has quite a bit of a negative effect on people. Yes, it gets the song onto your brain more easily, but the repetition drives people insane too. Just like it was suspected for “Story of My Life” (Belarus 2017) on its original version to be unable to be ‘stood’ - after the 2nd chorus, the rest of the song just went like “hey hey hayayayaho” until the end. Naviband fixed the problem by throwing in another vocal onomatopoeia in a form of the song bridge and I loved them for it, even if there still were too many “hey hey hey”s at the end, haha.
Final conclusion? Yep, issa good entry, and if anything it’s helluva underrated. Say what you want about it being “boring”, to me it’s somewhat fresh and exciting, because the melodies are pleasant, the instrumentation is top notch and Sabīne’s vocals are relaxing. Delightful starry night music, oh yes, thanks a lot for it, Carousel, I’m taking it.
Obviously, after they won Supernova, there was a lowkey uprising from fans who were dead certain on wanting Edgars Kreilis or Markus Riva to win, eek. Honeys, honeys. I do like those two as well, BUT for a bit of a mess that Supernova 2019 was with some of their decisions to include, I think it’s for the better they finally let themselves go lighthearted over it all rather than blatant tryhard to sound radio for the masses just cuz the NF wanted. Just forgive Carousel for winning, okay? Okay. ^_^
Approval factor: Definite yes from me, because why wouldn’t I rate it a yes. Yay brotherland!
Follow-up factor: For me personally this is miles better than Laura Rizzotto's last year's melodrama. Overall I think it just flows nice and is a delightful addition to the Latvian collection.
Qualification factor: This I cannot think about all too often but I am not sure if they'd... stand a chance anymore? I'd use to think it did, but that was weeks before supposedly much stronger entries rushed in, squeezing Latvia into an uncomfortable position. But I really hope it's just charming enough to kind of get through. Sort of. A little bit. I'm positive about it happening, but not that much. And a lot of older audiences might love it enough to vote it, too.
NATIONAL FINAL BONUS
I admit that I got way too heated about hearing Supernova’s new approach to selecting entries, but in the end it turned out that I didn’t need to worry all that much in the first place - some of those alternative entries we got were very nice (or at least the entries out of the standart overbearing radio-pop norm), both in their actual auditions (this time they were on an actual stage in front of a jury instead of the listeners pick-pocketing the submissions themselves) AND among the actual picks. But what else is there to be note-worthy in this year’s edition of this show?
• Well, among of the auditionees there were those too-weird-ass bands/artists (some of them I mentioned), and you saw me mention the “Alligator” song to you beforehand, which is done by an ambitious project ATOM.LV (so did I mention “Grow" by Waterflower and her show is worth mentioning as well <3 Those flowers in her hair, the hair color, the makeup, her overall image (it’s like Jamie-Lee upgraded) and the dance moves are ADORABLE <3333 but the song is... hmm... :c). And I’ll repeat myself - those guys rocked! I may have not been a massive fan of this but I can at least commend them - they had a good song structure going on, a clear message (alligators from the stars *catchy trumpet fanfare part* trying to probably conquer the world, yeah!) and an outrageous tribal image with that facepaint on! Awh hell yeah! Who wouldn't want THAT through the live shows??? Ah, only the Latvian juries ofc. (And me because I never got the appeal of this but I sure felt sad for 'em kids hoping and wishing for them through :x)
youtube
• Thank Goodness I had my faves through - all hail Double Faced Eels! They're the little legendary pop band who went all their way to compete in some Youtube contest and have had sung with Bebe Rexha as the prize for winning it almost 1,5 years ago :o Believe it or not but I have heard of them way before their Sulernova stint - I got introduced to them through a friend, known on Tumblr as Soupgeist. :3 And I don't regret stanning a name I know, as "Fire", their entry in this year's 'Nova, was a pop-rock banger with some electro in! Granted the vocaliat might've had some troubles singing live but he still pulled it off nicely in the finals, with that energy coming out on top! Yeah yeah, uguns. 🔥
youtube
• Like I mentioned earlier, there were people rooting for other favourites this year so heavily, and that annoyed the hell out of me, because I thought that Eurofans have some sort of evolving tastes that accept more than just pretty pop boys/girls with not-so-special songs? Well, I mentioned that Eurofans’ targets were Edgars Kreilis and Markus Riva. The latter felt so attacked about him trying to achieve his representation dream over and over he even tweeted about it once... well I did like his song “You Make Me So Crazy”, but I found it a little too overrated with the fans. So I did Edgars, but his song was way catchier and had way more personality than being a club track, I tell ya. Why would his song be renamed from “Fire” (yes, he partially shared a song title with that Double Faced Eels’s song!) to “Cherry Absinthe”, anyway? It gives it a bit more of an exciting feeling, tbh. ^_^ So I ended up rooting for him a little bit more out of the two ‘pretty’ pop boys, if I had to accept one of those kind of winners that everyone wanted (like everyone wanted just either yesyes or The Middletonz for Hungary this year).
youtube
• There were a lot of other nice chosen songs too that I would’ve loved to discuss, but I just can’t not mention the Riga’s Beaver as one of the more memorable moments here. I did write earlier in this that I was disappointed though. Not because of the beaver being out of costume and coming at us as a young-to-middle-aged stunning lad, but because the Beaver-entry, “Tautasdziesma”, was a “Supernova”-times cluster-mess. I think of this as a charity music medley-parody of some sorts, and that doesn’t bode with me well, and sometimes I like parodies, like the one Klemen Slakonja (aka the guy who portrayed Putin for a musical number once) did in his country’s NF in 2012 (that he hosted) was fairly nice (although a bit too much), but... ehhh... at least the men are fine and their costumes were dandy.
youtube
• Let’s not forget that those auditions had this one glorious thing going on during the performances - we saw shots of the jurors judging all of the 33 shortlisted acts with... rather less-than-enthusiastic looks, and man oh man were they fabulously done with this shit <3333
if that’s not a big indicator of them being too dead inside to be judging anything that day, then idk what is...
Anyway, I am finished with this review also, and I’m happy about it! I don’t think I can move any of this at a more quicker pace (seriously, I have to do so many more even during rehearsals!!!), but I am still trying to do my best. Good luck to the Carousel quartet and may they not flop in May! To hell with the naysayers sweeties, you’ll do just fine x ✨

Main guideline for the ISO 17025 certification
It establishes the general skill requirements required for the tests and the calibration, including the sampling. This standard includes the parts of ISO 9001 relating to organization and management, which, among others, include:
The quality manual;
The amelioration keeps going;
Corrective and preventive actions;
Document control.
In addition, ISO 17025 includes more stringent requirements for several technical elements, including those relating to calibration laboratory equipment, such as:
Tests and calibration methods and validation methods;
Evaluation of measurement uncertainty;
Measurement traceability.
In short, when a laboratory meets the ISO 17025 requirements, ISO 17025 Consultant complies with the technical specifications and the quality management requirements.
The benefits of being ISO 17025 certified
Certification is a formal way of recognizing a laboratory's competence, providing customers with a means to identify and select reliable measurement and calibration services. The certification offers the guarantee of the following criteria:
The competence of the technical staff
The validity and relevance of calibration methods
Traceability of measurements and calibration under national requirements
An optimal environment for testing and calibration
Delivery and handling of items submitted for calibration
In addition, it allows us to present their services to companies requiring independent verification in the laboratory. The ISO 17025 Templates of a laboratory are considered, both nationally and internationally, as a reliable indicator of technical competence.
Focus on: The differences between ISO 9001 certification and ISO 17025 accreditation
Although the two approaches (accreditation and certification) are complementary, the objectives are not the same. The ISO 9001 standard applies to any organization, unlike ISO 17025, which only concerns laboratories whose requirements are more targeted. The latter includes a "technical requirements" section, which allows recognition of the validity of analyses, tests or laboratory results.
The ISO 9001 standard is not included in ISO 17025, although a large part of the management section of the latter incorporates the ISO 9001 standard.
The new requirements of the 2017 version of standard NF EN ISO CEI 17025
The transition assessments of the NF EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard according to the 2017 version are in progress until May 2020. The general requirements concerning the skills of the calibration and test laboratories were upgraded in November 2017. Several changes and developments have appeared compared to the 2005 version. The main new features in the version of the NF EN ISO / IEC 17025 standard:
Management of impartiality through risk analysis,
details of confidentiality,
Reinforcement of the evaluation of external service providers, including subcontractors,
A more impartial complaints handling process,
Requirements concerning the presentation of the report and the conditions for rendering the declaration of conformity and opinion/interpretation,
Take into account the risks and opportunities related to the laboratory's activities.
Overall, Cal Lab Access eases the prescriptive requirements but strengthens the performance requirements.
What are the benefits brought to laboratories by this new version of the standard?
However, the laboratories will not remove many provisions, such as the one concerning training, for example, on the pretext that it is no longer mandatory. Eventually, quality systems will be streamlined to retain only relevant provisions.
Conclusion:
The leadership represented by management must be more involved in the process or even drive continuous improvement. Finally, the risk analysis approach has the merit of making the laboratory reflect on its level of control of the tests or analyzes carried out."
