UPGRADED DISASSEMBLY
An independent ask/Story blog for the Murder Drones AU "Upgraded Disassembly", created and penned by @waytowne
Best viewed in Dark Mode/similar mode.
TWs: Gore (oil), violence, homicide, mass homicide, cannibalism (oil drinking), existential crisis
The Upgraded Disassembly AU follows up a "What if?" scenario, where instead of Tessa (possessed by Cyn) and J arriving on Copper 9, there simply was a new set of Disassembly Drones created, upgraded and sent to Copper 9 to kill the first set (N and V remaining) and any remaining Worker Drones.
If I don't like an ask, I'll simply delete it. Go wild with asks. I'll be deleting any I deem inappropriate/weird/gross or if I just don't like the ask.

Murder Drones Au where Uzi is a just a fucking door and Khan's love for Doors is just him adoring his daughter.
While constructing the doors, Khan and Nori built Project Unified Zone Intelligence, an AI program that has full access to the entire bunker with the purpose of maintaining and protecting its occupants from Disassembly Drones and environmental threats caused by the planet's toxic atmosphere.
Everything begins with Khan making a joke about the Project being the closest they'll get to having an actual child, which sparked the ever brilliant idea between the two to give the AI a personality and sentience by mixing both of their codes and modifying it to fit the systems non-Worker Drone programming and formatting. Of course the AI is no use if it's infected by the Absolute Solver, so with a bit (read: a lot) of tinkering on Nori's side with the Cross Patch, Uzi was born!
A few things/events/facts to note for this AU:
When they first released the Untrained Neutral Network into the system, they limited her access to just Doors and lights. Having told none of the other Workers about Project U.Z.I. in fear of someone sabotaging it for whatever reason, the entire bunker was left confused when the doors would randomly lock or open and the lights would flicker with no rhyme or reason.
The couple would go around bragging about their new daughter to everyone, but when asked to see her they would bring up a (horrible) excuse as to why no one should see her. For years everyone thought they were just making her up.
Uzi loved to play with her parents by closing the doors on them as they're about to walk through, this of course led to Khan constantly baby talking doors at random, which then led to the nickname "Doorman" given to him by other Drones.
Khan took this as a new badge to wear and thus the Doorman family was created.
When Uzi got older, she was given more access to the bunker. Come time when most young Drones in her generation are given their Adult Models, Uzi was finally given a body of her own and complete control over the entire bunker. This is also when people realize Uzi wasn't just a delusion made up by her parents.
Khan doesn't stop talking to his daughter through doors even after she was given a physical body, which led to a lot of embarrassment for Uzi when he wouldn't stop the "doors are my real daughter" jokes.
Because she was given a body way later than her peers, she often struggled with walking and talking which caused a lot of bullying from her peers.
After mastering basic motor skills, Uzi went on to start building herself other bodies using spare parts she scavenged from outside. These can range from spare bodies in case something happens to her current one to Dissembly Drone-esque models crafted for the purpose of defense should an actual one get in.
Up to the current canon timeline, no one still knows that Uzi has complete control over the entire bunker.
She meets N when scavenging parts for an upgrade she's been working on that requires a lot of Worker Drone cores, an upgrade that consists of allowing the entire bunker to be mobile and move.
Everything basically plays out the same except Uzi has a bit more of an advantage against the Murder Drones mayhaps 👀

Murder Drones AU I've Been Thinking About:
Wassup Murder Drones fandom!? I've been thinking about Murder Drones AUs, and I've got some exciting ideas, but my personal favorite that I'm brainstorming on is what I've been calling the "Imposter Uzi AU", where Uzi builds herself a fake Murder Drone body. Info under the cut.
My idea is that at some point after Nori died, so did Khan. Maybe he was a victim of Doll when she lost control of the solver (à la Cabin Fever with Uzi). Regardless of why, Uzi is left an orphan, and she gets evicted from her apartment, being left on her own since no one wants to let the 'freak' into their family.
Uzi grows up even more bitter than before, growing to resent the colony that has left her to rust and decided she wasn't good enough to be happy.
Using her natural tech skills, Uzi begins to prepare a plan to ditch the colony and go off on her own. Since she was already breaking down from rust and needed to replace her parts, what if Uzi upgraded herself?
Using the oh so feared Murder Drones as a model, Uzi begins to take herself apart and rebuild herself better and stronger than ever.
(My model of Uzi in this AU. The sizes are inconsistent because my paper only had so much room.)
Uzi in her Worker Drone mode looks innocent enough, other than the fact that her mouth never changes expression, and that her feet are yellow-black striped. In her Disassembly Drone mode, Uzi shows off her REAL intimidation factor.
The reason she can't move her mouth is because she replaced it with a rusty but very strong bear trap that she unhinges her mouth to access. Her tail is made using one of Khan's screwdrivers that she kept ahold of for sentimentality. Her feet hinge to form the peg-legs of a DD.
The peg-legs give Uzi some extra height, but not enough to stand at a convincing Disassembler height, so Uzi also added the ability to extend her neck, allowing for her gargantuan bites to have deceptive range.
Uzi's hands can screw off and be replaced with her blade hand and Railgun hand, which she stores inside of her coat (that's also where she hides her tail)
Uzi was never able to figure out how to make the wings and headband work properly, so what she has is actually N's parts that she stole from him when she killed him (she had no clue he would come back to life).
All in all, Uzi has turned herself into a killing machine, though she still isn't strong enough to beat a REAL DD in combat. Her only advantage is a stronger bite, but she's still less agile, lacks acid, covered in rust, and lacks a healing factor. In exchange, Uzi can survive sunlight and doesn't need to drink Drone Oil to survive, being able to use other forms of sustinence.
Eventually, Uzi has to leave the colony after getting found out, and she meets N. Uzi kills him out of fear, and steals his parts, but when he regenerates, she now looks close enough to a real DD for N, V and even J to be fooled (they were actively programmed not to question sketchy things so that they don't uncover Cyn/J.C Jenson's secrets, and Uzi's a good-ish actor).
The Murder Drones accept 'Serial Designation Z' into their silly little murder group, deciding that the "rusty old model still can't be more useless than N." (J's words, not mine). Eventually, they all grow to actually care about each other as a found family, but tension is in the air.
Uzi knows that her secret is going to get out at some point, and that the DDs wont take kindly to being tricked. She's already changed her name, eaten her own kind, and all but erased any sign of her old self to be able to call the Drones her family, but she still lives in terror of what they might think of her when they find out the truth...

Since Murder Drones is ending and I've decided to live my "I am cringe but I am free" life, here is my old OC who no longer fits into the canon and I don't feel like making her.
I'll decide after Ep 8 if I wanna include her in some kind of AU or something.
She was created before Episode 7:
Serial Designation S or Sybil is a worker done turned Disassembly Drone from Moon Prime (Earth's Moon). Moon Prime used to be where Disassembly Drones would repurpose Worker Drones and ship them out to other planet systems. She was taken off Moon Prime in late 2990 and moved to the Copper System 20 years before the present day. Uzi, N and "Tessa" find her in the depts of the facility where she's been since Nori and the sentinels slaughtered all the workers. Like Alice and Beau, she harvested parts from the Worker and Disassembly Drones to stay alive. On Moon Prime, Sybil worked as an actual disassembly bot going through the parts of broken bots. Not all the bots were percise and the AS program soon started to take hold. Each and every bot was moved around through the system until Moon Prime was “shut down”. Sybil was able to upgrade herself using whatever parts were left out. She doesn't believe Tessa or N about the Earth being destroyed or Moon Prime being shut down. She's aware it's been over 300 years since she was made but is adamant that Earth and Moon Prime are fine and Tessa is lying. She has to be because her helmet is one way and none of them would be able to read her through their scanners. She also has the AS program, her's is blue, but chooses not to use her powers unless needed to like fighting off Doll or the Sentinels. She said she feels a part of her being chipped away and hasn't used the AS since she before she came to Copper over 200 years ago. This is why most of her wiring is sticking out of her head and has not been repaired. She refers to Murder Drones as “yellow eyes” or “2.0's” since she still considerings her line to be the original Disassembly Drones and the others to just be “babies” modified from their code. Through her own modifications she can see their original creator is written as Tessa and AS admin is Uzi. She eats the oil found on the top floors, that drips down to the bottom. She looks like a worker drone but has the height and wings of a Disassembly drone. She is covered in blue lights. She urges to leave with the group to not have to continue to fight off Alice, Doll or the Sentinels.

so the raising chip au is heavily inspired by the show raising hope. its not like one-to-one with the cast nor is it post-canon, its in its own universe, and everyone involved are adults, sans Chip herself.
like in wolfboy, all the drones previously worked for JCJenson, but some of them were deployed to Copper-9 to mine resources, yadda yadda. these drones eventually revolted, and once word got back to Copper-9, James and Louisa forced Tessa to turn N, V, and J into Disassembly Drones to kill the revolting workers. Not copies.
cyn was deemed too "broken" to do regular work or go with the Copper-9 group, so rather than scrapping her, she was basically turned into a 24/7 close watch on tessa, who's never left the manor despite being in her 20s (not allowed to) and is almost always working (usually repairing and upgrading drones)
since the society resulting from the revolt is still rather recent, the only ones who have parents are the children recently created. nori, yeva, etc all exist, its just they have no kids and just co-exist alongside uzi and doll, all that
ANYWAY. n finds chip abandoned in a scuffle between her parents and a disassembly drone, and since theyre only programmed to kill revolting worker drones, n decides to adopt her. hes not actually sure what she is until she gets older, anyway
j wont help, v tries but also isnt really helpful (her knowledge on baby care is the exact same as n's), eventually he meets thad and has him babysit after v lectures n on taking chip on a hunt. thad introduces n to uzi, and the trio start dating, with n moving in after giving the WDF a apology card. of course the worker drones are not really. pleased with this
n does frequently visit j and v, they just dont want to live in the base. n still kills the workers, of course, he just tries to make sure its not in public so he doesnt get caught
meanwhile, with tessa, shes going to snap. and she eventually does! she murders her parents, likely hiding them somewhere, with only herself and cyn knowing (she wouldve liked nobody to know but cyn literally cannot leave her side so there wasnt much of a choice)
shes in contact with the disassembly drones, as j as a communications relay on her that n and v like to hijack to talk to her. tessa also gives herself... basically alice's tail. yknow, long prehensile tail with a knife tied to the end. shes also a lot more unhinged and violent due to the high amount of anger shes been suppressing almost all of her life
for the vampire au... i dont have too much for it yet! its somewhat inspired by what we do in the shadows (the tv show) in that its three vampires (with each having their own familiar) with the head vampire coming to stay over for awhile. theyre also trying to take over, but... theyre not the greatest at it.
cyn is the head vampire, not above threatening her fellow vampires or their familiars to get others to cooperate. its nate for vanny and tessa for jenny (nothing for nate though, he loves doing anything!). uzi is nathan's familiar, lizzy is vanny's, and tessa is jenny's.
tessa was the most recent, having been "hired" after the vampires killed her parents and she begged them not to kill her. she tends to panic easily due to still having her overly strict parents berating in her head every time she even mildly messes up. uzi was the first, initially meant to be prey but nate changed his mind and asked if she wanted to instead be his familiar. lizzy was simply asked, though
thad is uzi's only school friend, and secretly loves vampires. uzi thinks its funny, but wont tell him she's a familiar. meanwhile, doll is a vampire hunter who's unaware she's best friends with a familiar, though is suspicious on lizzy's clearly faked disgusted demeanor about death or oil.
nori and doll's parents are also still alive! i dont have much for them yet though- but they are here!
someone remind me to explain raising chip & the vampire aus in the morning
#murder drones#vampire drones au#raising chip au#vampire name subject to change. cause they are pretty much vampires in canon lol

If X can’t, then that has interesting implications for the No 12!AU; eventually the rebellion would figure that out, either through reacted failed attempts or some exposition. When they realize they physically can’t kill the leader of their enemy, what then?
It would be pretty terrifying at first. Uzi, Eko and Mae are able to track one of the Family’s patrols (composed of N, 0, Y, F and 13), and the two groups get into a scuffle. Mae’s gotten better at fighting, and Uzi’s upgraded the rail gun so it can fire with less cooldown time between each shot. The two are able to hold their own pretty well, and Mae is able to run 13 through and slash Y, while Uzi ends up decapitating 0 with a well-timed shot to the head.
Eko’s the real threat, mostly because the Family is sorely unprepared to deal with her. Her rifle has been upgraded to fire bullets that can pierce the murder drone’s armor, and when F manages to get close enough to slash at her, Eko immediately ducks under her slash and nails F with an uppercut. She’s taller than the other two, with better armor and strength for surviving nuclear decay and handling heavy but delicate tech, and reflexes for navigating rough, unpredictable terrain. A Core Drone. Something the company insisted was dead. Something none of the murder drones, Assassination or Disassembly, were sorely unprepared to deal with. A well-placed kick knocks F offline, and N gets a railgun to the face, melting his head before he can even blink.
The sound of fighting and the sight of the railgun’s laser fire catch X’s attention, and she hurries over, only to find her children, still alive but badly injured, surrounded by three worker drones.
Eko notices X first, and doesn’t even have time to warn the others before X’s body starts to glow and a powerful EMP wave explodes from her body, making the lights flicker and electrifying the snow. The street lights spark and hiss, and Eko feels the electricity hit her body, almost like a physical wave that manages to make her visuals glitch, if just for a second. She hears Uzi and Mae drop to the ground behind her, smoking and offline, but still alive and mostly unharmed.
The entire bunker knows about X. They’ve heard stories about the supposed “mother” of the murder drones, but in person, those rumors don’t do her justice. Eko has to crane her neck back to look up at her, and X glares back, letting out a low, threatening growl that rattles her mechanical skeleton. She can feel this drone’s power, her anger but she stands firm, grabbing her rifle and picking up Uzi and Mae. X doesn’t stop her, and when Eko starts to back away towards the bunker, she doesn’t follow. Instead, X drops to all fours and stands over the injured drones, wings draping over them like a protective blanket. She doesn’t go after Eko, or make any move to attack.
In that moment, the two reflect back at each other, just two older members of their little groups, trying to protect the young from each other. Eko doesn’t like it, that her own protective stance and threatening glare is mirrored in X’s own posture and expression, and she doesn’t like how the attacks have become sparse and how X never smiled while killing a few drones despite having the power to wipe the entire planet or the lack of malice. If anything, she’s reminded of a mother protecting her young, trying to keep them fed, trying to keep them alive when they were built to die.
Meanwhile, X can understand. The worker drones are fighting back because they don’t want to die any more than she and her children do. That’s how nature is, isn’t it? You adapt to survive, to hunt, to protect your family and yourself, and everyone’s the bad guy from the other’s perspective. That’s what she realized when she first attempted to kill a worker drone, years ago when she first arrived on the planet, and that’s why she was never able to kill outside of necessity. The way Eko is standing, the way she does her best to act as a protective wall between X and the two younger drones despite the look of fear in her eyes… It reminds X of herself.
Eventually, X picks up her children and flies back towards the corpse spire, and Eko takes Uzi and Mae back to the bunker. Both parties recover just fine, but Eko can’t stop thinking about that encounter with X, and X can’t stop thinking about her encounter with Eko. If only there was a way for things to be better, so this stupid war could end, or better yet, never happen.
If only the company hadn’t built them to be nothing more than prey and predators.

And since I mentioned my fics in this post here... I'll tell you a little bit about them here and give you the links to their first chapters below the cut!
Through The Looking Glass: This is a swap AU centered around one Beau Doorman and his merry band of Disassembler friends (Braiden, Doll, and Cyn... Otherwise known as B, D, C in this AU). This aims to cover all eight episodes/arcs but with these swapped characters and the other swapped characters around them because do note these four aren't the only ones that traded places with other people. This is not a 1:1 retelling of canon and instead goes off in the sticks because I decided to get wacky and change everything but it's going to LOOSELY cover major events per arc like meeting the Disassemblers in the Pilot arc, the Prom arc, etc.
In This Broken Place: Set in the same AU as Through The Looking Glass... This is a pre-core collapse fic following Alice and her time being part of the Cabin Fever Labs experiments. I started this before episode 7 dropped so it had the canon completely wrecked out of it but I'm still writing it anyway because 1) it's fun and 2) it sets up a lot stuff for present day LG. Think of the divergences as part of the AU's charm since episode 7 shot a missile at it.
Of Rust and Frostbite: A canon divergent AU in which Outpost-3's bunker does not exist (it was destroyed in a landslide during the initial core collapse) and so the drones that would have lived there like Uzi, Khan, Thad, etc. were forced to live out in the city. With less defenses and access to resources, the worker drones of this world have resorted to things like infighting and upgrading and modifying their bodies with various tools and parts to survive the eternal winter and the murder drones on their doorsteps. Severe injury and illness is common here because most drones' repair systems have slowed to a crawl thanks to constant wear and tear from weather exposure and the like.
Okay uh- Hi there! This is my first time ever posting on Tumblr oh lordy- But hello! Welcome to my page. I thought maybe I should make a little introductory post so I can pin it.
I'm a silly little AO3 writer as you can tell from me linking my profile in this post. I write some Murder Drones fanfics there because these silly little vampire robots have my brain in a straight up death grip and I have turbo brainrot. I'm in the process of writing three longfics so far that you may or may not be familiar with if you read or browse Murder Drones fic. I'm the author of "Through The Looking Glass", "In This Broken Place", and most recently "Of Rust and Frostbite". You can find all three of those linked on my page below!
I may edit this later as I think of better stuff to say/more stuff to say but... It's here for now.
