Entry 6: Career aspirations including goal setting
When thinking about my future career aspirations and goals, there are a few objectives that are in my sight. I would like to become involved in a communications role, overseeing social media, public relations, and customer engagement. I enjoy interacting with people, and am a social person, so I believe that I will thrive in a role like this. This is also similar to my current volunteer role at the Bentleigh Football Netball Club, where I am the social media and communications coordinator. I have enjoyed my time in this role and aim to fulfill a similar role at a professional organisation in a full-time capacity. The enjoyment I have more communications has also led me to enjoy the marketing aspect of media, and I would like to gain professional marketing experience to support my knowledge.
I also have digital content creation and design in my future plans. At my internship at DSR, I thrived in the creative tasks where I was creating and designing graphics and images, and editing the videos for the organisation’s media platforms. Because of this, I have gained confidence in this area, and it is something I developed a deep passion for. DSR allowed me to develop my skills and apply them in a professional, time-pressured environment. Following the conclusion of my internship with DSR, I am now doing freelance work for them in digital content creation and design. This has led me to the idea of possibly starting my own business in the near future.
After working with the Skills and Jobs Centre at Holmesglen, I have now built a strong resume to begin my career. After building on the existing resume that I had, I was able to expand and add detail to better reflect my skills, achievements, and my aspirations. This was an important step for me, as my resume had not been updated in a few years and was updated to reflect my current abilities.

My resume. (Royal, 2023).
Through these workshops, we learnt that a resume should only be two to three pages long (Gary, 2023), and should be customised and targeted to each position (Kellie, 2023; Welton & Moody, 2023). Using key words (Welton & Moody, 2023) and having important, relevant information at the top is also essential, as this can increase the chances of progressing to the interview stage of the application (Gary, 2023). Including a statement is also a necessary section (Kellie, 2023), which is something I did not have on my resume before. My resume, interviewing skills and career objectives have been developed and I feel ready to begin applying for relative positions.

Cold As Ice.....
Pairing: Actor!Loki x Reader
Warnings: cursing, self esteem issues.
Summary: when things take a turn for the worse, you try to pick up the pieces.
Part two-
====================================
Tumblr media
Y/n woke up still regretting yesterday. "Why does he fluster me so much" you said to yourself. You got up and started getting ready, determined to put it behind you and have a good day. Bruce text you on your way to work telling you he needed to talk to you when you got there. You started to get nervous, did the raven haired man come back and complain again?
"Y/n, let's go to my office." Bruce said with a sad smile as you walked in. "Shit...." you muttered under your breath. What happened now. Bruce shut the door and you both sat down. "Y/n, you have been an exceptional employee, you work hard, your always on time..." he started "get to the point Bruce, please." You said looking at him. He sighed "I'm gonna have to let you go y/n". "What!? Why?" You asked. "If this is about that asshole yesterday..." you started "No, it has nothing to do with him." Bruce said. "As you know business hasn't been great lately, and I simply can't afford to keep you on" he said looking down.
"But, how am I going to pay my bills?? I'm barely surviving as it is!?" You said raising your voice. "I'm sorry y/n, there's nothing I can do." Bruce said as he got up. He opened the door and looked at you "I hope you find something very soon, I'm sorry y/n" and he left. You sat there for a minute, trying to comprehend what just happened. You had worked here for years to suddenly be let go. You had no money saved up, what were you going to do.
You walked to your locker to get your things when Jen ran up hugging you. "I just heard, I'm so sorry" she said. "It's OK, I'll figure something out" you said hugging her back. Truth was you had no idea what you were going to do. You started to leave when the raven haired man came in. "Great. That's all I need" you said making your way to the door. He looked you up and down "ah, they're finally taking the trash out I see" he said smirking at you. That was it "look here you self centered pretentious asshole, you may think your better then everyone but all you are is a sad angry man who bullies people to inflate you already too large ego" you said raising your voice at him, noticing his smirk was gone and he was glaring at you. "I would watch how you speak to me woman" he said in a low growl. "Ooo I'm so scared, what are you going to do, glare me to death?" You said to him. He stepped closer to you, too close and in a low voice "you have no idea what I'm capable of" he said. Your face started to flush at the close contact. You rolled your eyes at him "Well you aren't my problem anymore" you said pushing past him and leaving.
When you got home you threw yourself on the couch and signed. "Well, better start looking for a job" you said to yourself. You pulled out your phone and pulled up the help wanted ads. You didn't see anything great but one did catch your eye:
Wanted-
Personal assistant needed asap. No experience necessary, must be available for on call 24 hours. Excellent pay and benefits. Apply in person with resume.
It read with the address at the bottom. You had no boyfriend, no kids, and a non existent social life so on call wasn't an issue and you needed something now. You'd never been assistant before but you were a fast learner, plus how hard could it be. You jumped up and went to your computer, updated and printed your resume, and got ready for bed, determined to land this job.
You got up early the next day. Put on your dark purple button up and tucked it into your black pencil skirt. You went with flats because heels were a pain. You got your hair pinned up just right and finished your makeup. Grabbing your purse and your resume you took one last look in the mirror. Happy with the result, you put on your best smile and headed out the door.
"So y/n, what do you think would make you a great assistant" the man said from across the desk. "Well sir, I work hard, I don't take sick days, I am available 24 hours, I'm a fast learner, and I would love the opportunity to prove myself." You said with a smile. "So you are aware that the position is 24 hours, and that you could be called anytime day or night if you are needed correct" he asked. "Yes sir, I have no issue with that" you said. "Please, call me Tom" he said smiling. "OK Tom" you said smiling back. "I see here you just left your previous employer. What happened there?" He asked. "Well I was there for years but unfortunately my boss couldn't afford to keep me on, but he said he would give me a reference" you said looking at him. "That's a shame, I'm sorry to hear that. You seem very dedicated." He said looking at you. "Look. I normally wouldn't do this but you seem like a very hard working young lady, so I'm going to give you a shot" he said. "Oh wow thank you so much sir...I mean Tom!" You said excitedly.
You filled out all your paperwork and got everything situated. "OK, now that that is out of the way, let's go meet who you'll be working for" he said getting up. "Oh, I'm not working for you?" You asked. "Well yes and no, you work for us but you'll be another's assistant. He'll be your direct boss. So unless there is an issue you'll deal directly with him." "Oh OK that makes sense" you said getting up to follow him.
He walked you down the hallway to the elevator and went down. "This job can be very demanding, but can be very rewarding as well" he said smiling at you. "I'm really looking forward to getting started" you said as the elevator dinged. You followed him outside onto what looked like a movie set. You walked for a bit seeing people in all different costumes taking everything in. It was so cool to see what happens behind the scenes.
"Here we are" Tom said as he walked up to a trailer outside one of the buildings. You stood there nervously waiting to see who your boss was going to be. He knocked on the door "one second" you heard from inside. You both stood there smiling at eachother when the door opened, and your face dropped. "Hey, this is y/n, she's going to be your new 24 hour assistant, y/n, this is your boss Loki Laufeyson" he said looking between you two. Loki smirked devilishly at you "Nice to meet you y/n" he said putting his hand out. You stood there staring at him. The raven haired man, Loki, was your boss. You shook his hand and gave a small smile. "Shit..." you said under your breath as Tom walked away.

Fighting Fate - Ch 1
Tumblr media
Read Chapter Two
Ship: Sir Nighteye x GN!Reader
Genre: Angst with a happy ending, Mutual Pining, Office Romance
Warnings: Suicide Themes, Slight Sexuality, Yandere if you squint
Word Count: 1.6k
Author’s Note:  I needed to get this out of my head so I can focus on other projects.  This story takes place after Eri’s rescue where nothing bad happened.
Summary: Nighteye’s quirk predicts his assistant will die before the night’s end, but he’s not about to accept fate this time around.
Do not repost.
-----
Mirai Sasaki was a hero first, man second.  His greatest strength as a hero came not from his precognition, but his control.  A control that, lately, has been slipping.  As a general rule, Sasaki only used his quirk for his hero work.  He only had one shot at it a day, so to waste it on something personal would not only be unprofessional, but could put himself and the people he had sworn to protect at risk should an emergency arise.  And yet, he wanted to use it on you.
Sasaki had no problem with you when you first started as his assistant.  Sure, there were times you needed to be reminded to smile, and his jokes didn't always land with you (which was on you-- his delivery was flawless), but everyone had those days.  Midnight was partially to blame.  Her recent jokes about his tickle torture machine being used for foreplay had been fresh in his mind the first time you needed it to be reminded to smile.  Sasaki had dismissed her comments easily enough.  There was nothing inherently sexual about tickling someone into submission with their hands bound above their head, helpless and vulnerable.  Their hysterical laughter turning into gasps and pants as they struggled for air.  Thighs clamped tightly together as they desperately tried to avoid wetting themselves, begging for release.
Then he put you in those cuffs, saw you writhe against the machine, and he understood.  Seeing you thrash about, pulling against your restraints, your shirt coming untucked from your waistband as you struggled, Sasaki felt... something.  He turned the machine off in a panic the moment he diagnosed what he was feeling.  Kayama was right, and he was a fool.
He hadn't put anyone in the machine since.  He considered taking it down and retiring it all together, but it served as an effective warning that his office would be full of smiles.  Still, he couldn't look at it the same way-- couldn't look at you the same way. He barely looked at you at all, actually.  Each time he did, his mind went to unprofessional places.  He made a point not to treat you any differently from his other employees.  He bought flowers.  Not for you.  For the office. It just happened that the logical place for them was on the front desk-- your desk.  The treats in the break room you liked weren't for you, but for the team.
Technically, Sasaki never instated a rule against dating subordinates.  He managed all of his employees directly, and never thought about any of them romantically, so the thought never occurred to him to implement one.  Asking out his assistant might be legal, but he morally couldn't put you in a position where you might fear for your livelihood.  The right thing to do would have been to get you a job somewhere else, wait until you were settled, and then make a move... but then you'd be so far away.
Sasaki couldn't stay in this limbo between courting and ignoring you forever.  He had a few options.  He could ignore the feelings, keeping you at arms length just to keep in his life.  He could throw all sense of propriety aside and ask you directly, risk losing you completely and forcing him to find a new assistant.  So he decided. If four-o-clock hit and he hadn't used his quirk for the day, he'd use it on you.  If he saw your future together, it was fate, morality and propriety be damned.  If you ended up with someone else, he would be a man step aside.
--
You winced at the pounding in your head, forcing yourself to smile despite the pain.  You couldn't let anyone see you frown in Sir Nighteye's Hero Agency.  The last time you did, you were stuck in that HR nightmare of a contraption until you nearly wet yourself in front of Sir Nighteye himself.  You flushed at the memory.  You needed to get out, and this new influx of emails only confirmed it: Job applications, for your position.  He had caught you looking down once and had been acting strangely ever since.  Now you know it's because he had been sneaking around trying to replace you. You double checked Mr. Sasaki's schedule before confirming the interview times for this first batch of applicants.  You should have seen it coming, but it still hurt to have to help pick out your own replacement.  You saw their resumes.  Many of them had a better education and more experience than you.  They'd be a much better fit at the agency.  They probably wouldn't have to pretend to be happy.
You checked the time.  Four-o-clock.  One more hour and you'd be free to go home and cry yourself to sleep.  You paused.  No.  You still had to pick up groceries, reach out to your doctor about these headaches and starting your medication again, and figure out how to respectfully decline this last arranged marriage meeting.  Somehow, you doubted “Sorry, I but I still have a thing for my boss even though he wants to fire me” was going to cut it.  You added 'apply for jobs' to your mental to-do list.
Mr. Sasaki walked in.  You plastered your best smile on your face to greet him.  “Good evening, sir!”  You would play ignorant.  If he wanted to be sneaky, so could you.
“Good evening, [Y/N].  How are you?”
“I'm doing well... Sir?”  He was looking you in the eye for the first time since the tickle incident.  It felt strange somehow. Serious.
He cleared his throat, pulling a business card from the inner pocket of his blazer.  “Make sure to update Edgeshot's contact information before you leave.”
Your fingers brushed against his as you accepted the card.  “Right away, sir.”
He looked in your eyes, and your future played out in his mind like a strip of film: The stranger harassing you on the train ride home, stepping over the candidacy pictures of potential suitors someone slipped under your door, answering a phone call and arguing until you hung up and threw the phone against the wall.  The tears. The bathtub.  And then...
Nothing.
“My office.  Now.”
Icy dread washed over you as he closed the door behind you.  Just how much had he seen?  You stood at attention under his unnerving gaze.  The man was as handsome as he was intimidating.
“Tell me what's going on.”
You floundered for an answer. “Just... work.”  His grip on your arm tightened.  You winced.  He had to know you were lying-- he clearly saw something in your future he didn't like.  You had to give him something.  “I went ahead and scheduled the interviews for the assistant position next week.  Thank you for my time here.  I'm sorry we weren't a better fit.”
Oh.
He let go of your arm.  He only put out that help wanted ad to be prepared in case you left the agency.  He should have considered your reaction when you found out.  Stupid.  So incredibly stupid.  He was usually so thorough.  Sasaki sat at his desk.  He needed to think, and he couldn't do that standing right next to you.  When he saw your timeline cut short, he never thought he might have contributed to it.  He could change the future.  Fix it.  He'd seen it done before.
“I'm not firing you.”
“It's okay.  I didn't take it personally,” you lied, reminding yourself to smile.  Always smile.
You clearly didn't believe him, but he couldn't bring himself to tell you why he was looking for a new assistant.  Now wasn't the time for a love confession.  How could today have gone so wrong? He needed a plan.
“What are your plans for this evening?”
Was he asking you to stay late?  You shrugged.  “Running errands.  Groceries.  Dinner.”  File for unemployment.  “Normal stuff.”
He nodded, threading his fingers together.  It didn't sound like you were planning on ending things tonight, but he wasn't an expert.  His hero work centered on fighting external threats, like villains or natural disasters, not civilians who were a danger to themselves.  He should let an expert take over, but could he really entrust you to a stranger?  Could he convince you to talk to a crisis center when you couldn't admit anything was wrong?  Would the shame push you over that edge?  And why were you still smiling?
He needed to buy time, and for that, you wouldn't be leaving his sight.  He looked into your future again, but it remained unchanged.  The last push seemed to be that phone call, but he couldn't make out who it was from.  It didn't matter. “Give me your phone.”
His tone brokered no argument, and you handed it over without hesitation.  His thumb brushed over the screen.  It was cracked.  Surely he was paying you enough to have it repaired or replaced outright.  Sasaki frowned, considering.  No phone meant no phone call.  No phone call meant no tears.
He snapped it in half.
“What the hell!?”  You rushed to take the broken pieces from him, but he held them tighter.
“I'll buy you a new one.”
“That's not the point!  It wasn't yours!”
“I need you to work overtime tonight. You are not to leave this building, is that understood?”
Fate could be rewritten.  Sasaki would ensure you made it through tonight, even if you ended up hating him for it.

Pinky Promise - Chapter Four
A/N: I love them so much and if they don't kiss in the immediate future I'm gonna sue myself. This is some fluffy-whump shit I don’t even know, I tried to update earlier this time, I hope I didn’t fuck anything up and please please be nice if you don’t like the chapter cause today was hard - we found out my uncle is positive and my parents might be at risk (me as well) and it’s not good. Enjoy!:)

Nesta sat on the armchair in Cassian's apartment and stared at the void, clutching her hands around her cup of tea.
She had been there for thirty minutes, joined by her boyfriend, and they had both said only a few words. She was terrified at the idea of having to force herself to listen to him and he, unaware of the battle that was raging inside her, seemed not to want to drop this crazy idea.
"I spoke with Feyre this morning," Nesta murmured. Cassian's head snapped up, a not too convinced smile flashed on his lips, inciting her to continue. "She told me I should listen to you."
The half smile turned into a proper one at her words, but he got serious when she gave him a dirty look, "Why?"
"She said that if you've gone so far as to call this insane mission of yours a dream, then it must be important." she held the cup even tighter between her fingers. Cassian followed the movement with his eyes, frowning. "She says I can't clip your wings. That it would do us more harm than the prospectus of you dying in combat, apparently." her sharp tone that of a woman who leaves no witnesses.
He stiffened in his seat, "Nes..."
"I'm not saying that she's right. I'm not going to give you my consent to do shit like that, not yet..." she pointed out, looking him straight in the eye, "But I want you to explain to me how it would work."
She saw the second hope ignited in his irises. The moment he knew that if he used the right words, if he pushed the right buttons, he would be able to make her give in. And Nesta wanted to shut herself down. She wanted to throw the cup against the wall and yell at him how stupid, stupid, stupid he had been to think such a thing.
She wanted to tear her hair out because the man in front of her was the only thing that hadn't brought her down in the last ten years and now he was slipping through her fingers, and she couldn't do anything to avoid it.
"What do you want to know?" he asked, pushing himself forward in the chair and resting his elbows on his knees. He wasn't smiling openly, but she could see that the conversation was making him happy.
She licked her lips and saw him swallow.
They hadn't kissed in about four days and Nesta was counting the minutes since their mouths had touched before they started fighting, wondering if it would be the last one every second that passed.
"I want to know everything." she stammered, "What should you do now, right now, to prepare to join the army?"
He ran his hand through his hair, messing it up, "I'll have to take a medical examination, of course, and do a physical screening." He began, "This will be held in MEPS, which stands for Military Entrance Processing Station," Nesta had a feeling that she would remain silent for much of the explanation, without interfering. Not because she didn't want to, but because she could better absorb the information and all the acronyms he would spill on her.
As if she had been in class and they were explaining yet another protocol.
"I'll have to go there to process into the army." he looked her in the eye, "Basically, I'm gonna spend a night in an hotel, chosen by them. You can come visit me with the others, but you'll have to leave at ten and-" he stopped, arching his eyebrows, "Do you want the details of what I'm gonna do or?
She stopped him, "Please, tell me everything."
Something in her voice must have moved him, because he looked at her carefully before he resumed, "Alright, I'm gonna get a call at four in the morning, I'll get breakfast there at the hotel cause they do that for you," he said as if it were something to be applauded.
She snorted, "I think that's the least."
She wasn't ready to thank an organization that would surely destroy her family just because it would give her boyfriend a free breakfast.
Cassian glared, "And then we're all there at MEPS at five."
The fact that Cassian already saw a "we" in the army made her skin crawl.
"They'll assign me to a liason and that person is gonna explain what the day will entail and what we should expect."
He took a deep breath, easing some of the tension in his shoulders. He did that so often, "Then, there's the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, that I'm gonna call ASVAB from now on. It is a mock test used to screen applicants to ensure that they mesure up to the high standards that are required."
And here it was, his recruiter voice. Nesta didn't think he would mention other propaganda videos, like the night before, but it seemed exactly like he was doing that while saying, "The main reason this test exists is because for Prythian Armed Forces it's important that they employ people who show strong levels of enthusiasm and skill." he winked at her and Nesta had to make an effort not to throw the cup at him, "You know, in order to maintain a great level of service and professionalism."
He puffed his cheeks, with thoughtful expression, tapping a finger on his lips, "There are nine subtests to this thing." And then he started counting on his fingers, "There are General Science, Arithmetic Reasoning, World Knowledge, Paragraph Comprehension, Mathematics Knowledge, Electronics Information, Auto and Shop Information, Mechanical Comprehension and Assembling Objects."
He stood up, took the phone at the center of the coffee table and passed it to her. She hesitantly picked it up and saw only a picture of a book, "There are plenty of sites and a specific book with sample questions I'll need to try out." he pointed the phone into her hands, "Just like a normal exam, same exact stuff."
He joked that he would need her to study, but she didn't change her expression, putting the phone on the coffee table and taking a sip of her tea.
"I'm gonna get a medical briefing and after that I have to get an exam with some physicians," he continued, "Once I'll be done with medical part-"
She interrupted him again, having to stop that dump of information that was being tossed at her, "And at this point you're not enlisted yet, are you?"
Cassian's smile turned soft, "No, baby, this is the moment they see if I'm suitable."
She nodded, "Got it."
He gave her the thumbs up, "Resuming, once I'm done with medical, I'll meet up with a counselor and that's the part where I negotiate a job. We'll talk about this later." he cracked his fingers, sighing, "With that being done, I'll go to the processing section, they'll do what they have to and at this point, I'll take the Oath of Enlistment, where I'd like you to be there."
He looked hopefully at her and Nesta closed her eyes, breathing through her nose.
Cassian stood up, approaching her. When she felt his hand on her leg, Nesta opened her eyes and saw him kneeling in front of her, his eyes glowing as he stared up at her.
"And then I'm gonna come home. To you." he whispered, stroking her thigh with his thumb, "And the first part will be done."
She moved her leg, fleeing his touch. She missed him too much and that hand, whether it was a strategy to soften her up, to make her lower her guard or simply because he missed touching her too, was messing with her brain.
Cassian swallowed noisily, clenching his hand in a fist and bringing it to his side. He stood up and sat down on the sofa, as close as possible to her armchair, "I'll return to the MEPS a second time, to begin my path on the army. A second medical inspection, a second oath and final processing and then I'll leave for BMT, which is Basic Military Training," he concluded.
Nesta looked across the room, toward the kitchen, where they had argued heavily just a few hours earlier. She closed her eyes and lowered her head, suddenly feeling weak.
His words appeared behind her eyelids, as clear as the sun.
We can always have children and pursue the careers we want.
He had seemed so sure of what he was saying.
We don't have to choose.
"Sooner or later we will have to..." she whispered.
Cassian pushed himself towards her, "Sorry I didn't hear that."
Nesta passed her hand over her face, "No, nothing," she sighed, "I was just thinking out loud."
He nodded, biting his upper lip.
"Is that why you've been training so hard?" she asked, remembering only then how much more he had actually started working out in the last few weeks. In the last few months.
Cassian responded positively and they continued talking for hours.
Nesta asked question after question: what would happen now, what would change in the immediate future in their lives, when was he supposed to leave Velaris - when was he supposed to leave here.
He explained to her what they were going to do. He would sign the contract for enlistment in a delayed entry so that he could leave in more than six months. So that they could plan everything calmly without the fear that he might be called to start Basic.
The departure date would have been decided together before he left for MEPS. He would apply for a career in the Transportation, Distribution & Logistics field as a Cargo Specialist.
Cassian had opened a web page on his phone and had her read what a job in that field involved.
"Cargo specialists ensure service members all over the world receive needed supplies and are themselves transferred safely and efficiently to their destinations. They are responsible for transferring or supervising the transfer of cargo to and from air, land, and water transport by manual and mechanical methods. They also plan and organize loading schedules." she read aloud.
Exactly what Declan was doing at that moment, he explained.
Cassian remained silent for a few minutes, allowing her time to assimilate any information he had given her. There was still so much to discuss that Nesta's head was bursting at the thought.
Before she could say anything about the fact that they were done for today, the door of the house opened and Azriel entered, with two vases so big that they covered his face, followed by a smiling Elain.
Cassian puffed and looked at her, whispering so that the others would not hear him, "I can't wait to have our own house," Nesta felt her heart implode, "so no one would ever come into the middle of our arguments to interrupt." she knew that his was a poor attempt to make her laugh, but she had completely turned her brain off.
She was used to talking about these things with him. Her heart hadn't hurt at the idea of the two of them just living together. Her whole body had hurt at the idea that in that house, there would only be her. No one else.
Even if they spent the next six months looking for the perfect house and found it, she would be alone.
Because Cassian would be overseas.
She turned to him, really looking at him and concentrating on the long black eyelashes that were fluttering fast.
She caught her breath, rising abruptly and Elain realized at that moment that she and Azriel were not alone. Both of them seemed more than surprised to find her in their living room, but, exchanging a quick glance, they decided not to say anything about it.
Azriel put the large vases on the floor, taking the smaller ones she was carrying out of Elain's hand, "Hello," greeted both of them and Cassian stood up in turn, turning to the newcomers and giving them a tight smile, "have you read the messages?" Azriel asked, taking off his coat and scarf that Elain had knitted for him.
Nesta smiled slightly.
It was Cassian who shook his head.
"Mor said that Manon arrived early. There was a misunderstanding with the time zones and they got confused with the days, but she's here anyway." Elain sounded excited, "Dinner at hers tonight."
"Fuck." Nesta murmured, running a hand over her face. She grunted in pain thinking of the headache she would have the next morning when she was due back at work. The week she spent at home on vacation had certainly made it easier for her to lay in bed without having to spend hours in the bookshop.
Cassian turned to her, slightly worried, "We don't have to go if you don't want to".
We.
Azriel looked closely at them and when he crossed Nesta's gaze, he sighed.
"We-" she began, "We?" she asked sarcastically, laughing in his face.
She was getting angry and had to try to control all the emotions roaring inside her.
After all the things he had decided without her, there was still an us. Apparently.
Cassian seemed to be in trouble, "I'm sorry," he whispered, "You don't have to come if you don't feel well." he corrected himself, "I'm sure Mor can arrange a meeting with just the three of you."
Nesta looked him in the face, clenching her jaw, "I'm going."
Elain let go an excited scream and went up to her, "I'm glad you're coming too."
They exchanged a quick hug and the older one almost cried.
She didn't realize how much the lack of physical contact weighed on her. And how more than half of that contact came from Cassian.
***
"Hey girls, come on in!" Mor greeted Nesta and Feyre with a bright smile on her lips.
As soon as they entered the house, they smelled the smell of baked pasta and both their mouths watered.
"Amren and Varian are in the kitchen with Manon and Rhys is wandering around the house somewhere, so," she told them, informing them on who was already there. Then she took one look at Nesta, "You're sure you and Cassian can stay in the same room without jumping at each other's throats?"
Feyre giggled next to them, shutting up immediately when Nesta looked at her with an eyebrow raised.
She turned to Mor, "He promised me he wouldn't bring up the army topic tonight and I promised him I wouldn't get mad about anything he said, so there shouldn't be any problems."
The blonde didn't seem so convinced, but then someone called her from the kitchen and her face lit up. She grabbed them both by the hand and dragged them into the other room, where a tall girl, with almost blinding white hair, was standing with a pan in her hand. When she saw them, she opened her eyes wide and flashed them a smile.
Feyre raised her hand in greeting and Nesta smiled tightly.
"Oh! Yeah, sorry," Mor approached Manon, taking the food and placing it in the center of the table.
"Baby, these are two of the three sisters, Nesta," she said, pointing to the eldest, who reached out to Manon to shake her hand, "and Feyre, the youngest of our group."
"Pleased to meet you," murmured Feyre, blushing under the inquisitive gaze of Manon.
The girl smirked, "The pleasure is all mine." then she turned to Mor, "Our Morrigan told me that you were all very beautiful, but I didn't think I'd join a group of models."
Amren, who hadn't taken her eyes off Nesta until then, snickered, "And we're the modest ones, just wait until Rhys and Cass are in the same room and we'll have a hard time breathing from how much space their egos will take up."
Feyre laughed, "You say that as if Azriel didn't know he was the most charming one in the group," then turned to Varian, "Nothing personal," she joked, sitting between Amren and Mor. The boy shook his head smiling, always with his silent manner.
"At least dear Az remains humble and does not go around proclaiming himself Miss Velaris," said Mor.
"It happened only once and I was drunk off my ass."
Rhysand entered the kitchen with his usual grin on his face, sitting next to Nesta.
He greeted the sisters with a quick smile, and she saw Feyre smiling back as if they hadn't yelled at each other five nights earlier.
She looked around, trying to figure out if she had missed something in the last few days or if she was really the only one who just couldn't let things go.
It was true, she wasn't going to cause Mor any trouble that night and she certainly wasn't going to spoil everyone's dinner by arguing with Cassian, but she wasn't going to pretend it was all okay either. Looking at each person at that table, however, it seemed that the fight that everyone had heard had never happened.
They were talking about the university and the jobs they had and Manon seemed more than calm and comfortable in that group. Feyre, strangely enough, was the one who was the most involved in the conversation and Nesta realized with no small apprehension that it must have been because Tamlin didn't let her make new friends so often.
Manon was a flower that had just bloomed in the burnt lawn that was her sister's life.
When the other three arrived, Azriel had one arm around Elain's shoulders and Cassian, behind them, had shiny eyes. Nesta knew very well that he was not crying or drunk. That was the face Cassian had when he was exhausted and only two days of deep sleep could fix that.
Manon and Mor had got up to make introductions and Nesta had burst out laughing when the newcomer had extended her hand to Az and said, "You must be Lucien. You and Elain are a splendid couple."
Elain laughed and shrugged Azriel off, "Oh, no. He is Azriel. Lucien's not coming tonight."
Mor had cast a long look at her girlfriend and Manon had apologized, smirking, as if she had done it on purpose.
Nesta knew very well that the blonde in their group often talked about the relationships-non-relations within their circle, so Manon must have known that no one in that house really believed that Elain loved Lucien. At least, no one in that house believed that Lucien was the right person for Elain.
There was a time when Nesta was convinced that he was going to propose to her. That sweet little Ellie would finally leave the nest and build her family elsewhere, but whenever she was asked questions about their relationship, she seemed indifferent. She cared about Lucien, she did, and it was obvious.
But maybe that wasn't enough anymore.
Azriel had introduced himself for who he really was and then rushed to the table, sitting next to her, red from head to toe. Nesta bent over to him, making a joke about what had just happened, and then whispered, "Thank you." Azriel raised a confused eyebrow. "For sitting here," she pointed to the chair, "I didn't want to have to spend the whole evening next to him."
He smiled at her, clutching her knee under the table and reassuring her that it was not a problem.
When they all sat back down to eat, Manon was looking at her and smiling at her in a reassuring way. Whatever Mor had told her, the white-haired girl knew more about them all than she let on.
Cassian didn't speak to her the whole time, too lost to have a chat with Varian and she was grateful that both of them were sitting on the same side of the table, because she didn't risk crossing his gaze, not once.
Also because she was sure that if he looked at her even for a moment, he would notice that something was wrong and that Nesta was not feeling well.
When Mor put the wine on the table, half of them refused the alcohol, finding a plausible excuse that they would all have to work the next day, but Nesta knew every person at that table like the back of her hand and she knew that Feyre had refused because she would have argued with Tamlin if she drank without him being there. Elain would bring up things that weren't supposed to go out in such a context and she and Cassian would start fighting, driven by the liquid courage in their glasses.
Halfway through the meal, Nesta got up to go to the bathroom and as soon as she shut the door behind her, she sighed closing her eyes.
Cassian was right when he told her that she should not come. Her headache was getting worse and she couldn't concentrate on anything that was being said.
She sat on the closed toilet and put her hands to her face.
She felt her fingertips tingling and her stomach hurt so much that she would not be surprised if she vomited all over the table when she got back.
She had to go home and sleep and not think about anything.
She heard the others burst out laughing and suppressed a groan of pain when her ears started ringing.
She was dying, she could feel it.
She came out of the bathroom staggering, almost as if she were high on drugs.
Leaning on the wall for support she managed to return to the kitchen and covered her eyes with one hand, sheltering herself from the light. She coughed to call Mor's attention and they all turned towards her.
Nesta sighed for the umpteenth time, "I'm really sorry but I don't feel so good and I'd rather go home," she stepped to the table, approaching Manon and offering her a tired smile, "It was nice to meet you, I hope you can come back soon and visit us."
She had no idea what she was saying, the ringing in her ears became louder and louder.
Cassian stood up and everyone's attention shifted to him, "Do you want me to give you a ride?" he was already slipping out of his seat.
Nesta shook her head, grimacing, "No, there's no need-"
"You're sick, you shouldn't drive in these conditions," said Amren, looking at her severely.
Feyre came to her aid, "If you want I can take you. I can go out with them tomorrow," she said, pointing to her friend and her visiting girlfriend. Mor nodded, looking at her pale face and looking more concerned than necessary.
"Nesta," whispered Cassian, "please."
The fact that no one was making fun of him for literally begging her to drive her home made her realize that others had also sensed the emotion in his voice.
She looked him in the eye and nodded slightly with her head.
She saw Cassian sag with relief and then he was gone to the other room, fetching their stuff for her. She arranged with the sisters how they would return home and Azriel reassured her that one way or another they would safely go home. This made her slightly agitated as Azriel wore that stupid sneer he had every time he exaggerated with wine. Elain told her that she would be driving, since both Az and Rhys did not seem to be properly sober, and Nesta calmed down. She was about to thank Mor again when she felt the weight of the jacket on her shoulders.
She turned and smiled gently at Cassian, who had a tired and worried look on his face and shifted his gaze over her cheeks as if he could find the illness on her skin and remove it only by willpower.
He put his arm around her shoulders when she got dressed and said goodbye to everyone one last time, while Nesta, tired of being angry and on the verge of another hysterical crisis, snuggled up against him, letting herself be dragged out of the apartment and into the car.
As soon as she sat down, she leaned her head against the backrest and closed her eyes, yawning.
"Let me," Cassian murmured to her. He looked at her hopefully and it took her a few seconds to realize that he was asking her if he could fasten her seatbelt. She nodded almost imperceptibly, swallowing when he smiled at her and stretched over her to reach the other side of the seat.
She breathed the air deeply and had to close her eyes tightly when his scent ran over her and tears made their way under her eyelids.
She missed him so much.
Cassian closed her door carefully and then went around the car, settling down behind the wheel.
Like the last time they had been in the car together, he was not putting the keys in the patch and she was getting nervous.
She didn't have the strength to argue at that moment and if Cassian had offered to accompany her and she had accepted without too much fuss, it meant that her body knew it too.
"What is it?" he asked her finally, starting the car.
Nesta looked at him from the side, with a lost look, "Everything hurts, I think I might have a fever".
Throwing her a look full of worry, he said, "Why don't you close your eyes for a while? I'll wake you up when we get to your house."
She nodded and leaned her forehead against the cold window.
It wasn't long before she fell asleep, lulled by the gentle humming of Cassian and the rocking movement of the car.
When she woke up, she was no longer in the seat of her boyfriend's Jeep, but someone was carrying her and her head fell right and left as she was being bounced up the stairs. She tried to open her eyes and recognized the stairwell of her building.
She had her head resting on his chest, one arm around her back and one under her legs to support her.
"Sssh," he murmured into her hair, "we are almost there."
She grunted in pain, whimpering and almost crying when Cassian had to put her down to get the keys and open the front door. Her feet touched the ground and she leaned completely against him, gasping against his chest.
She didn't even have the strength to touch him and her arms were dangling along her sides. It was as if her legs had become jelly, she couldn't stand on her own.
"Sweetheart," he called her and she moaned, "I know, I'm sorry," he rubbed his hands on her back, stroking her gently, "but you have to give me a moment to open the door. So I can take you inside and you can sleep."
Nesta couldn't see anything and if she tried to keep her eyes open, everything would spin, but she still heard the hint of panic in his voice and could picture the worry painted on his face. Clenching her teeth she pulled herself away from Cassian and backed against the wall, "Hurry up," she said through her teeth.
The door was opened in a second and then Cassian picked her up without her even noticing. He took her directly to her room and as soon as she touched the bed, she sighed, pressing her face against the pillow.
Cassian took off her shoes and pants, helping her slip into her pajamas and covering her legs with the comforter. When he tried to pull her up to sit down, Nesta twisted, her head pounding.
"I know everything hurts, but if I let you sleep in your bra, tomorrow your ribs will hurt even more," he explained to her, sitting on the mattress, "Lean on me and I'll take care of it, Nes," she laid down, her head turned to the other side.
She heard him sigh and then Cassian's arms wrapped around her chest. She leaned completely against him with her eyes closed as she cried silently. The pain had reached overwhelming levels.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, she heard him murmuring when she sobbed.
Once he had removed her shirt and bra and put the top of her pajamas on, he laid her gently on the bed and put the comforter on her so that she was not exposed to the cold.
She felt Cassian's lips on her forehead a second before sleep took over.
“I promise we’ll get through this, too.”

General Update
Hey everybody, long time no see.
So, this is mostly an update for people who aren’t following my main blog, but it’s probably a good catch up for everybody else as well. I totally don’t mind if nobody reads this, I simply feel it’s important for me to pop in and make sure folks know A) I’m not dead, and B) this blog isn’t dead.
Here’s the in depth:
At the beginning of this pandemic, before things went really SOL, I was just starting a new job, where I was going to be a summer camp councilor. I was super excited, and I got through the training, got to run a grand total of two quests- And then everything shut down. I was furloughed, and forced to rely on Unemployment Benefits and food stamps to keep me from going homeless and hungry. That was the end of July.
Now, here in January 2021, I’m still without a job, but things are looking up!
I’m moving house to a location that’s $200 cheaper than where I currently live, so less expenses coming out of my pocket. I’ve applied to become a teacher on Skillshare, where I’m hoping I’ll be able to put together some classes on basic sewing skills and how to salvage material from fast fashion (I’ll post a link here to the classes if folks are interested at all). I’m buffing my illustration portfolio and looking into freelance work (my resume is still in progress, but it’s getting there).
These are positives that I am clinging to quite desperately, praying that they pan out so that this year- This Year- will prove to be That Much Better than 2020.
Now. What’s this got to do with the blog?
Well, first things first- Once I’ve gotten myself moved, I’m going to start a dedicated schedule for the Rescue Center. It’s something I was trying to do throughout 2020, but was never fully able to thanks to Literally Everything plus my own Bad Brain (I’m looking into getting therapy, so Bad Brain is being worked on). While I want to continue the various RP threads that unfortunately wound up stagnating over the year, I also want to introduce more art and general interaction to the blog as a whole, and I’m thinking a rotating schedule including Art Streams and Crew Ask days to help with world building and general plot will be fun for everyone. I’m also thinking of including more of these general Day To Day updates, including gardening and crafts that I would be doing with the Crew (either drawing them in or implying them in the scene).
I want to do more with this blog, I want to include people more and I want to have fun with this all again. I miss playing with everyone, I miss answering questions and generally just having a good time with everybody.
That being said, please reblog and reply to this post with any ideas you think might be fun. Should I go forward with the gardening? Should I include moving projects and having the Crew involved? What would you like to see in the art streams? What would you like to see happen for events?
I’d be happy to hear any and all ideas. :)

writing a resume from scratch
as with literally everything i write, this got really fucking long! like, wordcounter.net estimates this will take 7 minutes to read. so i’ve placed the bulk of this post under a read more
this is not a quick tips kind of post; this is a detailed breakdown of how to write a resume from scratch, with examples that are largely taken from my own resume. this is primarily a resource for people who don’t know where to start with writing a resume, not for people who just want resume hacks
i’m saying all this so i don’t get people in my inbox complaining about how long this is. writing a resume takes a lot of time and effort, and this post does not shy away from that
creating a resume will take you a while, especially if this is your first attempt. don’t be discouraged! take breaks, and don’t try to make the perfect resume on the first try. this tutorial is designed to be completed in rounds
it usually takes me a week to get a new master resume into working order
don’t worry about page length right now. you should make a multipage master resume that contains every relevant experience before making a 1-page resume. after you’ve made the master, you can build custom resumes from it for job applications
this post is best viewed on desktop, because i use nested bullets, and tumblr mobile hates those
let’s get into it!
step 1:
list out everything you’ve ever done that could feasibly count as a resume entry: extracurriculars, jobs, volunteer positions, research, organizations you were a part of (professional or casual), freelance work, long-term hobbies. i will refer to each different experience as an “entry”
for each entry, write where (city + state) and when (timespan) you did that thing
ex. tritones a cappella group, los angeles, ca, august 20xx - present
going forward, update this list as you join or complete new jobs/hobbies/whatever so that you don’t have to wrack your brain a year down the road wondering how long you held down that job or leadership role
step 2:
describe each entry
use bullet points to list out all the things you did within that role. start with the big picture, then move on to the small stuff
big picture: the goal of the role/organization/research, overarching and long-term projects, what results you were trying to achieve + why
ex. “studied the neuroanatomy and synaptopathy of the inner ear to determine the role of glutamate receptors in hearing loss”
small stuff: literal day-to-day tasks, every software and hardware you worked with, any particularly successful moments
basically, walk through a typical day or week in this role and list out every single thing you have to do, even the grunt work.
ex. “used redcap to administer neuropsychological batteries and collect biological data”
ex. “designed and implemented a novel article format that yielded a 10% increase in audience retention”
if you still have access to the original job posting or a corporate description of responsibilities for your role, pull that up and see how much you can paraphrase from it
no duty is too stupid rn. did you google weather forecasts for your boss every week? write it down. you can make it fancy or choose to delete it later
step 3:
fancify this shit
rewrite your bullet points from step 2 with better jargon. tell your employers what you did in a concise yet assertive manner
it helps to break down each point into its most basic components, which you can then generalize or rephrase
ex. “googled weather forecasts” might become “compiled weekly reports on changing data points to assess weather trends over time”
use action words. you can find resources all over the internet for this, but if you’re still struggling, shoot me an ask and i’ll link some of the resources i’ve used myself
caution: you don’t want to sound like you used a thesaurus on every word. make sure you aren’t obscuring the meaning of your bullet points. “googled weather forecasts” should not become “utilized online databases to assemble weekly communications on meteorological variations”
start thinking about how your responsibilities for each entry relate to a) what skills you want to showcase and b) what the employer wants from you. does the employer want you to demonstrate familiarity with online databases, or does the employer want you to demonstrate familiarity with weather forecasts? your bullet point for “googled the weather” will change depending on the answer to these questions
step 4:
look at the big picture
you probably have a metric buttload of bullet points for each entry. now you need to cut that down to what’s relevant. think about which bullets are most impressive, noteworthy, and descriptive of each entry
aim for 3-5 bullet points. any less than that and you have to ask why you’re including that entry. any more than that and the employer’s eyes will glaze over
try to combine bullet points
ex. “identify content and write articles when necessary,” “maintain a pool of freelancers,” and “identify key graphics and maintain tagging structure when uploading articles” all involve the process of creating an article, so they can be combined into: “identify content, assign stories to freelancers, write articles when necessary, and upload with appropriate graphics and tags”
start thinking about tailoring your word choices and bullet points to what the employer is looking for
if you can, pull up the job posting or a sample resume for the job you’re applying to and compare your resume to it. are you using similar language? are you demonstrating similar skills?
jobhero.com is a lifesaver
finally, eliminate redundancy in your resume, both in every individual entry and in the resume as a whole. if a skill can be demonstrated by multiple entries, you only need to list it once
kill your darlings! it may sound harsh, but the things that seem super impressive to you probably won’t even be a blip on the employer’s radar. “but saying i made coffee runs shows i’m dependable and a team player!” the employer isn’t looking that deep, my dude. you can showcase your dependability in your cover letter or your interview
you should redo steps 3 and 4 several times, soliciting feedback from your parents, peers, career center, etc each time
step 5:
add the Other Stuff
education
typically, you should only include institutions for the highest level of education you’ve attended. (undergrad and grad school both count as college for this purpose)
there are exceptions to this, depending on how long you’ve spent at a higher level of education, whether your alma mater will earn you brownie points, whether you had genuinely impressive accomplishments earlier in your life, etc.
once you hit, like, 2 years in college, you should try to get rid of high school achievements and showcase college achievements instead
list the school name, city + state, degree type (BA/MA/etc) and expected graduation date (even if it’s in the future), your major(s) + minor(s), and any related coursework (ie preprofessional tracks, specific courses related to the job). you can list your gpa if you feel it’s relevant, but i caution against doing this once you’ve graduated
ex. (where // indicates a new line) harvard university, boston, ma, may 2020 // bachelor of arts in cognitive neuroscience // minor: english: focus in creative writing // related coursework: pre-medicine, computer science 101 and 102 // gpa: 3.9/4.0 (dean’s list, all semesters)
skills
a list of items without descriptions. you can do a bulleted list or you can list the entries in paragraph form, separated by commas or bold bullets
hard skills: hardware, software, languages (spoken and programming), digital and communication platforms, social media proficiencies, other technologies and devices
ex. microsoft office suite, java, wordpress, slack, familiarity with ap and chicago style
soft skills: general qualities, buzzwords, personality traits
ex. leadership, conflict resolution, time management
certifications and awards
can be one section or two depending on how many of each you have
list each one on a separate bullet point
for each, write the certification or award, the institution that granted it, and the month and/or year you received it if relevant
publications
tbh i just cite my publications in the following format instead of following a style guide
lastname, firstname. “article or chapter title.” book title, publisher (aka company or website). publication date.
if you’re the sole author, you don’t need to list the author’s name
interlude: stretch the truth a bit. don’t lie about having experience or skills you don’t, but if you can reasonably google how to do something, boom! you’re proficient in it. if you worked with two team members who never pulled their weight? you just became the sole project lead. were you a beta reader for anime fanfiction back in the day? you’re a freelance editor, baby!
step 6:
now you have to organize all the entries from step 4
separate your entries into relevant sections. what’s relevant might change based on what you’re applying for
i’ve had, at various points in my life, some subset of the following sections: work experience, volunteer experience, leadership experience, research experience, writing experience, other relevant experience
list sections in order of descending importance
write all entries in reverse chronological order: start with the most recent and work your way backwards
write all bullet points in order of descending importance. unfortunately, i don’t have any quick tips on determining what’s important, but it helps to look at the job posting and see what matters to the employer
i tend to list big picture goals, then personal accomplishments (leadership skills, projects), then daily tasks
step 7:
format this shit
you can find resume templates online or in your word processor. templates serve as a good starting point, but i recommend creating your own format so you can edit and customize it with ease. this will probably involve a lot of fiddling with indentations, paragraph spacing, and moving things around
don’t go smaller than 10pt font
mess around with line and paragraph spacing to get the right balance of white space. if you’re curious about what i use, shoot me an ask and i’ll share my weirdly specific settings
keep an eye out for bullet points with orphan words (ie lines containing only 1-3 words) and get rid of them to streamline your resume
margins can be anywhere between 0.5″ and 1″
consistency is key! make sure each entry has the same kind of spacing. don’t use hyphens in one entry and en dashes in another
in the header, write your name, email, phone number, and address
interlude: save this version of your resume as your master resume. this gives you an unedited list of everything you ever did that you can now pick and choose from when you apply to jobs. update this list every 3-6 months.
step 8:
customize your resume for the job application
unless you’ve been in the industry for several years, your job-specific resume should be no more than 1 page
if you have more than 1 page: compare the job listing and your resume side by side and ask which entries demonstrate your capabilities most effectively, which bullet points are the punchiest, and if there’s any extraneous info
match each job requirement to one bullet point on your resume. then match each bullet point on your resume to a requirement in the listing. get rid of any bullet points that don’t meet either of those criteria. if multiple bullet points match the same job requirement, get rid of the extra bullet points
if you have significantly less than 1 page: see if you can add more bullet points or reformat your resume to introduce some more white space. a 2-column set-up is great for this, with section headers on the left and bullets on the right. do you have any hobbies you’re forgetting about? any soft skills you could add?
emulate the language of the job posting; use the same action words, the same soft skills
coda
your resume should work in tandem with your cover letter, but that’s a topic for another post. maybe in another 6 months i’ll write a post on that, too
always save your resume as a pdf! you don’t want your employer to have access to your metadata
if you made it through this whole post... i’m so sorry lmao but also thanks for sticking with me
let me know if you found this helpful or if this method scored you a job!

Master Post Part 3
So tumblr is a massive nuisance and apparently limits the number of links you can put in a post! So this is probably going to get a little recursive; this post will just deal with
Tumblr Writing and The Bonds Between Us
So most of the ficlets I put up on tumblr do not have names, which is gonna make this more challenging, so we’ll see how it goes. The Bonds Between Us is an ao3 fic containing a number of canon compliant ficlets centered around the relationships between characters.
The aforementioned Blupjeans spinoff of Pas de Deux. You think enemies to lovers Taakitz is fun; wait until you see enemies to lovers but still very much enemies right now Blupjeans.
Snow Day. Taako-centric Taakitz fluff with bonus adopted son Ango centered around... a snow day. It should be part of The Bonds Between Us, but apparently is not. I should remedy that.
A Day Off. Blupjeans post canon, just coming off a long day of Reaper shenanigans. It’s pretty fluffy and is in The Bonds Between Us.
What is Left Unsaid. Magnulia, definitely on the angsty side, but I at least think it ends on a happy note. Basically covers first meeting and beyond. Also in The Bonds Between Us; this is going to be a recurring theme.
Sculpture of Flame. SC era Blupjeans pre-Legato. Barry (POV) and Lup go after the Light and shit goes sideways, as it is wont to do. Basically prompted by me thinking Spell Sculpting is the best thing since Fireball. Ditto on The Bonds Between Us; I need an acronym at this point.
Questions and Answers. Ango-centric post canon fun! Basically, people are nosy and ask Angus all the questions, and Taako is basically adopting Angus now. Yes, TBBU.
Fox in the Henhouse. Hurloane! Surprise! Pre-pttm, based around a post (which I linked in a reblog; I don’t want to tag people and subject them to this laundry list.) Basically, Sloane shows up to Hurley’s office. I’m mean and this ends on a fairly angsty, yell-inducing note. TBBU.
The Little Things. Lup-centric fluff, post-canon, centered around her getting her body back. Yes, TBBU.
Takeout in the Astral Plane. Taako POV, about how much Taako loves Kravitz and Taako and Kravitz’s vacation to the Astral Plane. TBBU ficlet.
Scones and Song. Kravitz POV, about how much Kravitz loves Taako. Arguably the counterpart to Takeout in the Astral Plane. TBBU ficlet; are you even surprised at this point?
Cooking Quiche Lorraine. Ren time! Yay Ren! Featuring Ren at Taako’s show and a little bit of her venturing out afterward. There are some Paloma shenanigans, and fuck I forgot how much I love Paloma with a warhammer. TBBU ficlet.
Untitled Lucretia ficlet. Second person POV, centered around the moment she fed her journals to Fisher. It’s more experimental as far as my ficlets go and definitely not TBBU for that reason.
Late Night Research. More Blupjeans pining! Lup POV this time, and Lup finds Barry up sciencing in the middle of the night. TBBU ficlet.
Untitled Taakitz ficlet. This one was inspired from some art by herbgerblin (again, no tagging here, but the art is tagged in the ficlet). Kravitz gets called in the middle of the night, and Taako is groggy but supportive. This one should probably be a TBBU chapter too but isn’t.
Untitled twins ficlet. Going way, WAY back to when the twins were applying into the IPRE mission. Not TBBU, probably will be eventually when I remember to update it again.
Dogs on the Moon. Magnus rushes in! Magnus goes up to talk to Lucretia about a certain infamous policy. Yes, TBBU.
Untitled Lup and Umbra Staff ficlet. Just about how Lup might have come up with the concept for the Umbra Staff. Not a TBBU ficlet.
Pocket pudding fluid mechanics ficlet. Yeah, you read that right. I’m gonna teach you fuckers fluid mechanics whether you like it or not. Taako-centric, majorly sciencey, mildly angsty.
Untitled canon divergent AU part one. Taako inadvertently breaks Lup out of the Umbra Staff early!
Untitled canon divergent AU part two. Lup possesses her brother to start a family reunion! I’m tempted to continue this if there’s interest.
SURPRISE! It’s my one and only Graduation ficlet. Centered around the Firbolg, and it’s nostalgic but sad. Firbolgs live long lives and Druids... Druid.

I was thinking of doing an English literature degree in university and was looking into the possibility of becoming a professor. I was wondering about the process of becoming a professor. As in, what type of further degree did you have to get and what was the course load like? Also what exactly does being a professor entail? Do you do research as well as lecturing? I’m sorry for bothering you with this, it’s just that you always explain things well and I don’t know any professors in real life.
Sure, I don’t mind answering these kinds of questions at all!
What type of further degree did you have to get and what was the course load like?
For reference, I have a Masters degree of Fine Arts (in Poetry) which is, for the moment, still considered a terminal degree in the creative writing field, although the Ph.D. is becoming super popular now.
In order to teach at the college level at any accredited institution, you must have a minimum of 18 graduate level credit hours in your chosen field. I.e., you would need at least 18 credits (about 2.5 semesters) of a graduate program in English in order to teach any English college-level courses.
In today’s market, it would be extremely difficult to get any full-time teaching position without having completed at least a Masters degree, so if you want to become a professor, plan on going to graduate school.
Some good news though: Many English graduate programs are generously to fully funded, which means that you’re a lot less likely to leave graduate school with crippling student loan debt than you would be if you went to graduate school in another field like business or medicine. Don’t go to a graduate school that isn’t covering a large portion of your tuition costs. If they don’t offer you good financial aid, just say no thanks!
In terms of what degree you should pursue specifically, that depends on your interest, but three degrees that feed directly into English professor positions, in order of most likely to be hired, are:
Master in Rhetoric and Composition (this is the most likely to get you a job, but personally I would have found a degree like this boring as dirt)
Master in Literature (if you like analyzing other people’s writing, this is where you go; this degree is a double-edged sword though. You can specialize here and get into some really, really niche stuff that you love to death–but if no schools out there need your niche literary background, you may be a less appealing job candidate than the Rhet/Comp person above)
Master in Creative Writing/Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing (if you like writing your own stuff, this is the route to go; you will come out of this kind of program fully qualified to teach general English courses. Double-edged sword again though–EVERY school needs people who are experienced in teaching English 101
Not every schools needs someone experienced in teaching, say
 Introduction to Poetry)
Course load in graduate programs is more tolerable than undergraduate programs. 12 credits is the minimum to qualify as full-time in undergrad, while 9 is considered full-time for most grad programs. You’ll take fewer classes to get a Master’s degree than an Bachelor’s.
That said, be ready for a completely different vibe and expectation level. People who go to grad school aren’t fucking around. Someone in my program got a B in one of our classes and that was enough to put her on academic probation. My friend, who also went to grad school for English, got an A- that she STILL feels guilty about to this day. So it’s less classes, but the expectation is that you will bring your absolute highest effort to the table in each class and engage fully with the material. (To be honest though, I feel like a lot of graduate-level professors are more chill than undergrad professors; there were “A” grades I worked A LOT harder for in undergrad than some of the “A”s I got in grad school.)
Also what exactly does being a professor entail? Do you do research as well as lecturing?
I’d say there are six general parts to the day-to-day job of a professor:
1) Prep. This is getting your courses ready: writing lectures, building activities, creating homework assignments, building your syllabi, picking readings, designing discussions, etc. This takes a fuck ton more time than you will ever want it to, and you always tell yourself after you get the class done once you’ll never have to do it again, but that’s a lie, because you will find yourself updating and changing things every single semester. Your mandatory “office hours” are basically just prep time since, no matter how much you beg them, students will rarely take advantage of your office hours unless you bribe or force them.
2) Actually teaching. This is your time spent in the classroom. The LEAST time-consuming part of your job. For every hour you actually spend in the classroom, expect to spend 154680060 hours doing outside stuff like grading. If you’re confident in front of crowds, this part is the easiest thing about being a teacher. If you want to get good at the actual “teaching” part of being a professor, take drama classes. Good teachers project confidence and energy at all times in the classroom, and drama teaches you how to do this much better than any public speaking class can.
3) Grading. Hell itself. It never ends. 9/10ths of your job as an English professor is just this. I envy the professors who are out of shits to give and just circle bubbles on a rubric, but I am not that person and so I comment extensively on every single one of the assignments for every single one of my students. If you’re up at 3am in the morning, it’s probably because of this!
4) Dealing with students on a personal level. The scariest part of the job. College is an extremely stressful time in a lot of young people’s lives, and especially if you are not teaching in a rich neighborhood, your students may be experiencing very significant personal, familial, financial, etc. difficulties that severely impact their mental health and well-being. You will encounter situations that you would never expect–students bursting into tears in the middle of class, students coming into your office and telling you they’re contemplating suicide, hearing graphic stories about the students’ abusive backgrounds, and being asked directly for help in situations that are completely outside of your experience level. Because there’s such an incredible stigma against therapists, many students will bring serious mental health issues to their professors long before they would ever consider going to the school’s counseling services.
5) Committees. Dear god. The committees never end. As part of your contract at most institutions, you will be expected to be performing service to the college, aka serving on committees and task forces to do all manner of things. If you’re lucky, you can get on committees you actually care about, with coworkers you like, and then they are fun. If you’re unlucky, you get “voluntold” (aka forcibly placed) on a bunch of committees that you feel completely unpassionate about and you’ll just have to deal until they complete their purpose or fizzle out. The amount of time you put into the committee has no correlation to the amount of work the committee actually gets done.
6) Research and professional development. In the .0002 minutes you have left each week, you will either be required (if you’re at a research institution) or highly encouraged to complete research, publication writing, and professional development activities. At my institution, research is highly encouraged and publication is a sure way to get in good with administration, but professional development is required, i.e. we have to participate in conferences or development trainings throughout the year to demonstrate continued efforts to discover and employ best teaching practices. This is usually a fun part, but you will never, ever have enough time for it.
The path to becoming a professor–some advice:
If you are not yet in college, pick your college based on a combination of three factors: 1) financial aid, obviously; 2) the robustness of their English department (i.e., do they have a Writing Center you could tutor at or other internship opportunities? Do they have a chapter of Sigma Tau Delta, the English honor society? Do they send undergrads to conferences? Do they have department events like essay contests and/or writing clubs? Search the school website thoroughly for info on their department--or better yet, call and talk to them); 3) the courses taught (you should be able to access the school’s complete course catalog before applying. If you read over every course the English department offers and none of them interest you, then obviously that’s not the school for you).
If you are already in college, look for opportunities that will make your grad school applications stand out–try to get a job as a writing tutor, join the English honor society, join/sponsor a writing or book club, be on the staff of your school’s literary journal, submit your work (including essays, why not) to other literary journals, take part in any competitions you can, etc. Strong involvement in your English department will make your application to graduate programs shine.
Consider planning for a day-job after grad school, at least for a couple years. The more English experience you have on your resume, the more likely you are to earn a full-time teaching position. Landing a tenure track job right out of grad school is tragically uncommon. Plan on adjuncting for a few years to get some college-level teaching experience under your belt. It’s common for adjunct professors to teach a few classes as a side-job while they do other work, such as freelance editing, to bring home the real money. Then you can translate your courses taught as an adjunct into years of experience when you are applying for full-time positions!
Phew, sorry if that was longer than you expected!

Here’s an update on grad school, and life, and why in the world I’m here.
tl;dr: I figured out I wanted to go to grad school late after hating all potential jobs I could get and needing a different degree for the ones I wanted, I’m a teaching assistant while taking 9 hours, and I don’t hate it yet.
(First of all, lemme tell you how stoked I am that I discovered #gradblr, because I was seriously wondering where all the grad students were)
Okay, so some of you may be considering going to graduate school and pursuing some sort of advanced degree. For some of you, you may be considering it because it’s really difficult to get a job in your field without one, some of you just may really love research, and some of you may stick around because you have no idea what to do unless you’re a student. Honestly, none of these are bad reasons to get some sort of advanced degree.
Why
For me, I was in my senior year of college, and it was time to look for a big kid job. I went to my school’s engineering career fair, I got on all sorts of job search websites, I reached out to the university relations guy from my internship the previous summer. What I found was that I wasn’t built to be a design engineering, but that with degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace engineering that was mostly what I was qualified for. There were other options, things like test engineer or quality or certification, but all centered around design engineering.
What I discovered was that the positions I was drawn towards involved things like “processes” or “program management”, or hell, the word “management” in general. What did all of these positions have in common? They needed years of experience, or a degree in Industrial Engineering.
I had always planned on getting an advanced degree, probably an MBA or something, so what made this so different? Sure, I was going to work for a few years then let whoever I worked for pay for my MBA, but what if I didn’t? What if I changed the plan?
So I looked into it. Where were schools with graduate programs in Industrial Engineering? Oh, Oklahoma State has that? Cool, let me look into it. Oh, they have a track called Engineering Management that focuses on process, program management, and management in general? That sounds familiar, SIGN ME UP.
How
Some time in the middle of November, arguably late to be getting into the graduate application game, I decided to start applying. I ordered my GRE practice book from AMazon on November 19th, I took the GRE (that’s worthy of it’s own post, tbh) on Decemeber 1st, I tracked down some professors to write me some letters of recommendation when the semester started up in January, and I got my application submitted in the last week of January. Due date? February 1st.
What
Currently, I’m a half time TA. This pays for my tuition, and comes with a monthly stipend. This type of funding isn’t super common across graduate programs from what I can tell, but I definitely am lucky that my program offers it. I teach lab for a Visual Basic coding class, and I’m taking 9 hours.
I have one online class, Program Management, which is prompting me to make a post eventually about how to be successful with an online class, because wow I struggled at first. I’m taking a class called Information Systems, which is similar to the version they teach in most MBA programs. The first half is “here are all the types of information systems, so let’s figure out how to pick the right one for your organization” and the second half is “here are new and emerging technologies like Internet of Things and block chain that you’re going to need to know about.” My third class is Probability and Statistics, and it’s way more intense than the Statistics class my friends getting Master’s in Aerospace Engineering have to take. But it’s fine, everything’s fine.
Takeaway
I came to grad school because I wanted to expand my skill set and my resume to edge my way into positions that I know are going to be a fantastic fit for me. Career Fair this year went better than any have in the past because I am a killer combination for the aerospace industry. I already have an Industrial Engineering Internship lined up for the summer, and I’m loving every second of what I’m doing (except for the integrals in statistics, I don’t love integrals in statistics).
I know that was a long one, but thanks for reading along!
Why are you in grad school/thinking about grad school? What are your career goals? What are the things that scare you about the process?

Thinking about random crap
There's so much going on in my life right now. It makes me think of that one post from Twitter that says something like "when you're an adult you can go months without anything exciting happening and then sometimes it can be 2 weeks straight of exciting things." I'm butchering that, but maybe if you've seen the post you'll knkw what I'm talking about 😂
Anyway, we're settled after moving and are mostly unpacked except for the garage. It's been an adjustment, but I really like it. Artur doesn't like it as much as I do, but I think that's because he can't be belligerently drunk every night. Win-win for me haha. I started my CBI birth doula training. It's not super fun right now because I'm starting with the communication skills part, but I'm still super stoked. I'm looking into starting an LLC and I've been working on my business plan. I'll write up a post about that another time because I've got some ideas and goals I would like to write out. Also, I've decided to get a job. I was thinking either at another daycare or a call center, but when I mentioned to Mara that I wanted to work again she said that her work is hiring. She's a psych tech at a mental health facility just down the street from our house. She said to check it out online and put her as a reference if I apply. They pay $12/hr for entry level psych techs and that's better than the $8 at a daycare or $10 at a call center that I was hoping to make! She also said they do 12 hour shifts, and you work 3 days and are off for four per week. So they don't hire at 40 hrs/week, but that's fine with me because I just want to cover daycare for Maddie, pay for my school, and save money for starting my business. I feel a little weird about it though. When she and I were in high school, I got a job working with her at a movie theater. Then years later I got a job working with her at Subway. We've both bounced around workplace to workplace since we were in high school so it's not like I follow her to every jobs she gets, but this would make #3 that I get a job where she's working. My resume is good enough that I can get decent jobs on my own so I shouldn't feel like I'm riding her coattails, but I still kinda do. I'm over thinking it I'm sure. And anyway it really doesn't matter, I'm not planning on making a long-term commitment or anything so I should just have fun. We always have a good time working together and with her being due this August it'll give us more time to hang out since she's already always tired and doesn't want to do much on her days off. So I guess I'll try to update my resume this week and put an application in and see what happens. I'm still browsing Craigslist everyday to see what comes up, but nothing good ever does.

Personal Post
So it's been a long while since I've done a personal update post. I feel the need to do one since it will clear my head a bit. It will also put it all out there, especially for some of you who have only had bits and pieces.
-I have been unemployed now for 10 months. It’s been shit. Getting “let go” from that place I know in the long run is going to be the best thing for me but a year is going to sneak up on me soon and I have nothing to show for it. I have started working with an employment coach at the local women’s resource center. He’s been great. He’s not super concerned with getting me any job now, but getting the right job for me. We’re working on discussing my skills, how I feel about things, how to read job descriptions to work for my advantage, redoing my resume completely, improve how I look for jobs.
-I’ve started with a new therapist who is also at the women’s resource center. I didn’t want to but my old therapist realized I needed to see somebody more than once a month. And even at her discounted self pay rate of $100 I couldn’t afford to see her more than once a month. I’m still sad about it because I’ve been with her over 5 years. She’s helped me through so much, talking with her was like dissing with a friend because she’s only like 10-15 years older than me.  However she didn’t close my file so if I want to return once I have insurance I can. My new therapist works on a sliding scale and isn’t charging me, which I am very thankful. She’s really nice and is approaching things differently. The change is nice and not having 5 years of my baggage gives her different insite but I don’t feel the warmth and connection with her yet. I’d see my old therapist and just light up. I’ve told my new therapist some of this and she smiled and said “Well I’ll get to know soon enough.”
-I’m seeing my psychiatrist for the 1st time since January. I’ve been real depressed these past few months. I’m bipolar and had been holding pretty stable on my medication since I was let go. She knew I had no insurance and since she’s in the same building and medical group as my old therapist she just okayed some extra refills. However these past couple months I know I’m depressed. I’m sleeping way too much, I haven’t actually applied for a job in like a month and a half, if not longer. It’s hard to do extra when getting out of bed and taking a shower is so much effort itself. I’ve been doing better the past month since I started working with the career counselor. I’ve been pushing myself to get out of bed around 9am, get a shower everyday, I volunteer at my favorite place on Wednesday. But sheer will is not enough when you’re bipolar and your brain chemistry is different. It’s time for a medication adjustment. It’s going to be expensive (she’s $185 out of pocket) but I need it. I use coupons from GoodRx for my meds and go to the lowest priced place. I have a feeling we’re just going to add either 30mg or 60mg of Cymbalta to the 120mg I already take.
-I’ve gained around 40 pounds since being unemployed. It’s a combination of things. Right now I don’t really care, other than the fact that earlier this year, I had to use some of the money I did have to buy new clothes that fit. For the first time in my life I’m not like “Must do something about all this fat right now.” I’ve been yo-yo dieting since I was 13. It feels good for once to be like “I’m not dieting.” This doesn’t mean I’m out there stuffing my face. I’ll probably never diet again in my life. I have other things to worry about.
I’m going to make a part two post about things I need to get and how I need to organize things.

Hi! I'm 16 and I plan to move out of my mothers house as soon as possible. I'm working on saving up $1,000 for an emergency fund right now, but what else should I do to prepare before I move? Obviously I still have a few years, but I'd like to have all my things in order before it's time. Thanks!
20 Things to Do Before Moving Out of Your Parent’s House
1. File as independent on your taxes. We’re a while away from tax season, but remember to file as independent on your taxes. This means that your parents can no longer claim you as a dependent and will no longer receive a tax break from the government for housing you. What it means for you, is that you will no longer be considered part of their tax bracket. This means you’ll have a better chance at applying for financial aid, health insurance, car insurance, etc.
2. Important Documents. Get as many of your important documents (social security card, birth certificate, tax forms, etc) as possible while you’re still living with your parents. You will need this information when you move out, so find a secure place to store them.
3. Learn to cook. Obviously, cooking skills are not going to come overnight! Checkout some cook books, online recipes, or even watch a couple episodes of Chopped. The more fast, cheap, and easy meals that you’re able to prepare before you move out- the better. Here’s my Cooking 101 post.
4. College. If you are going to college or planning to go to college, talk to financial aid about becoming an “independent student”. If the school classifies you as independent, financial aid will pay for a greater portion of your education. Also please don’t have your parent’s call the school on your behalf, start taking initiative and making these calls yourself. As someone who worked in a college call center for four years, a good 80% of the phone calls I got were from parents, and legally a college can’t tell them anything.
5. Accumulate furniture. Check out thrift stores, Dollar stores, and especially yard sales. Buying all of your furniture at once can be expensive and stressful, but accumulating a few pieces over time (space permitting) can be a more effective way.
6. Doctor’s appointments. Start making your own doctor’s appointments! I love this script by @spectrumsuperhero that’s applicable to all of your doctor’s appointment needs.
7. Start building credit. At 16, you’re probably too young to apply for an actual credit card, but having some credit before you move out will help you loads in the long run. As you might be aware, some landlords ask that their tenants have a credit score before renting to them. Don’t be discouraged! It’s just something to think about.
8. First Aid. Learn some basic First Aid. I’m going to toot my horn and link my post because I sat through literally six hours to get certified in this stuff, and if I do say so myself, my post is rather thorough.
9. Learn to clean. Learn some basic cleaning skills- how to wash dishes, how to vacuum, what sprays clean what. These may seem like simplistic things, but many people grow up not having to do household chores. I guarantee you that not every apartment you live in will have a dishwasher, so learn some dish skills now! Learn to clean.
10. Go Shopping. Make a shopping list and go shopping at your local supermarket or grocery store. Crowded stores can sometimes be unnerving, remember the more practice you get at it, the more at ease you’ll be.
11. Learn to wash clothes. Doing laundry is something that I never did while living in my parent’s house, and the first few times doing it on my own turned out
interestingly. Get your laundry skills in tip-top shape!
12. Get transportation. Get yourself a mode of transportation that does not require your parents. Biking, walking, and using public transportation are all ways that you can get where you need to be. Get as familiar with public transportation around your city as much as possible.
13. Separate bank account. Still sharing a linked bank account with your parents? Get yourself a bank account that they don’t have access to. One of the first steps towards moving out and “Adulting” is being able to take care of your money.
14. Build your resume. Keep working on and updating your resume, even if you already have a job. You never know when you’ll need to find another one, and you don’t want to hastily throw together your resume with little notice.
15. References. Similarly, get yourself a list of professional references. These references can be teachers, guidance counselors, family friends, etc. References are useful for job applications, housing applications, and networking. Always ask before putting someone’s name down as a reference.
16. Health insurance. Start learning about what health insurance coverage you currently have- how expensive it is, how it’s paid, how long it lasts, etc. Find out if you will be able to stay on this insurance after moving out of your parent’s house.
17. Buy a First Aid Kit. A First Aid Kit is a must have for whatever apartment, room, or house is your next home! Spend $20 and buy a decent sized one that includes things like cold compresses, burn creams, and gauze.
18. Buy a Bed. The average person sleeps around 229,961 hours in their lifetime. That’s a lot of time in bed! Buy yourself a comfortable mattress (you should replace your mattress every 8-10 years), luxurious sheets and/or a memory foam pillow. Nice beds can be expensive, so start saving up for one now.
19. Learn basic repair. Get yourself a toolbox and learn some basic repair. You can find extensive articles online about everything from unclogging a drain, to tightening screws, and using caulk. Get familiar with these tools now, because you never know what type of landlord you’ll end up with. They could come promptly when requested to do repairs, or they might not.
20. Learn how to write a check. Okay but seriously- this is important. Do not let me catch you moving out of your parent’s house without knowing how to write a check. Here is @howtogrowthefuckup‘s two cents.

WIOA Failure
Around 2018, my parents found out about WIOA through the Prince George's branch of the American Job Center and told me about the WIOA program at the Prince Georges County job center. The WIOA stands for Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. It’s a law that allows states and counties to support unemployed Americans with federal funds for retraining via a private training center or community college or have paid on-the-job training from local employers working with the American Job Center, with the possibility of being picked up by the company for a full-time role. You can’t pick both options so it really depends on what you need.
Obviously, because I have no savings and my unemployment slowly running out, I had to take the paid on-the-job training. So I called the Job Center and expressed my interested in the WIOA program. And you have to express interest in it because this program is not well-advertised to the unemployed.
But I heard about WIOA from my parents who had the opportunity to get a job via their on-the-job training program but could not because they had health issues. But WIOA is known as the Work Investment and Opportunity Act. The allow allows grants for study for certs or classes or for on-the-job training. I opted for the on-the-job training because I needed the money and two there was the possibility for the company to pick me up.
After I made the appointment, and went to the appointment in the office, the co-ordinator which was a woman explains the entire process. The entire process but the actual process will not start until I fill out several forms. You have to fulfill a checklist of requirements to be approved for the program, then verify the fact that you’re a displaced worker or unemployed. In that form you have to explain why you’re having difficulty seeking work. I’ve explained in full honesty that I have autism spectrum disorder which makes it difficult to gain relationships in order to seek better work, gaining relationships with co-workers is practically the only way to gain employment, and difficulty seeking security clearances because I’ve been the sole provider of my parents for 4 years because they were unemployed.
Then you have do actual research on the job you want via a occupational research assignment. Doing that assignment is very difficult because in most companies you want to interview with, the HR departments are difficult to contact by phone or email. But what I had to do was print out three job openings that had the job title I want, and fill in the required information the best i can.
And, of course, you need to submit your resume.
After you submit the information by email or in person. You have to go to a orientation course that tells you everything about the WIOA, what the Act is, how does it work and the details about the options they provide. It was the same co-ordinator that handled my paperwork. From what I heard from her regarding being placed to a paid on-the-job training position that it takes from 2 weeks to 6 months, but on average it takes three months to be placed in one of those to start work. She knew how dire my situation is since I dropped hints on it.
Finally after the orientation class, you have to take a Prove-IT test. Now for that test, I was able to take the System Administration test, but the Oracle Java exams and SQL exams were very difficult to take because I had no knowledge of them and it was a surprise for me because I did not expect such a test.
All I could do was to guess the answers the best I could in order to complete the remaining exam.
Then finally, another co-ordinator which was another woman gave me a link to the System Administrator job for a local contractor for the Prince Georges county government. The job would be a great fit for me if I was actually hired. Then I encountered the same problems with dealing with third-party IT recruiters, but it’s worse since you’re dealing with the state government since if they screw up, they don’t get easily disciplined or fired unlike the private sector.
I did the same thing as I did to the IT recruiters. I followed up with them by phone every week to make sure I exist and to check up on the hiring process. Often times, I leave a voicemail message and I don’t get a return call back. Often times I had to do a weekly follow up on both co-ordinators. Each one told me that they will update me tomorrow or the next day. When tomorrow or the next day came and I don’t get a phone call back, and I had to be the one calling them back.
Then slowly, I found reasons why it took so long to hear anything back from the person who gave me that job link from the other co-ordinator: The first excuse: She went on vacation. The second excuse was that she got married after she went on vacation. Finally I was told that her office was being moved to a different location. Despite all of this, she could not take 30 minutes of her time following up on voice mail messages in between the times she went on vacation and marriage.
Finally, they admitted months later that the position I have applied to with the company that was supposed to work with the American Job Center with unemployed Americans who signed up with the WIOA was closed. Worse, basically told me that they threw their hands up instead of actually giving me a position that they would have worked with ASAP by telling me to go to a IT recruiter. The same IT recruiters that I contacted a week after I was laid off that months later threw their hands up and told me they actually have nothing for me after wasting 2 hours of time talking to them at their office and doing weekly follow ups over the phone.
Even the Government of the State of Maryland does not value the time or skills of the unemployed. Even if the unemployed person is disabled and has a autism spectrum disorder.
