WILD. Was anyone else aware that the Ted Lasso team has gone in and made post-production edits on season 3 episodes, sometime in the last year?

I've been rewatching the finale in advance of the one year anniversary of it airing, and straight off, I noticed that the points total on the graphic looked different to how I remembered it - a much closer race. It stuck out because I remembered being annoyed that they didn't celebrate the moment Richmond got confirmed for the Champions League, as the gap was big enough for it to have happened a while ago, offscreen. I still have a screencap from when the episode aired:

However, the current copy on Apple has an updated graphic, making the post-production graphic in line with the numbers on the actual physical whiteboard prop and the script mentioning the win streak. See here:

The corrected copy makes Richmond's points match the whiteboard, but it also puts the teams in 3rd to 5th place much closer to them points-total wise, meaning that now, in the current version of the episode, Richmond only qualified for the UCL in "Mom City," making it make more sense that the start of 3.12 is the first time it gets discussed. Would have been nice to mention that stake in the City match commentary during 3.11, but I genuinely am shocked that they went back in and edited the already-published episodes to clean up the post-production errors. For the record, here's the whiteboard as of 3.08: W10, D9, L6.

Just in case anyone cares, the order of those results was - 1 draw against Chelsea, 6 wins with Zava, 1 loss against West Ham, the rest of the draws and losses occurring between 3.05 and the loss against Arsenal in 3.07, and then the 4 wins mentioned at the start of 3.08. By the start of 3.12, it's mentioned they are on a 16 game win streak, so that's 22 wins overall, 9 draws, 6 losses, going into the final weekend, hence the updated graphic.

I like that they went in and fixed it - no idea when in the past 12 months that occured - but I also kind of can't believe they bothered? Then again, I can't believe the mistake was made in the first place, as they were so specific with details in the prior seasons, so maybe they couldn't live with it being wrong.

I know there were rumours about a ton of issues in terms of getting these episodes posted in time - right down to the wire, still fixing the edit on the airdate - and it's clear that these details were not checked and confirmed by the poor people in post who were not working off the show bible that lives in the writers heads. I don't blame them at all, I blame the people who got the edit to them late, but it did annoy me during the season a LOT. The maths wasn't mathing, and as we know this is a show that has been careful with dates and timelines and stuff like that.

Anyway! The point is, a) this post about my UCL qualification fantasies is now moot, and b) I went back and checked another post production error that had REALLY pissed me off, which was the dates of texts in Ted's phone in 3.04. Phone dates have always given us the timeline quite strictly before - it's how @belmottetower and I started the timeline in our primer, with Ted arriving in London on January 6, 2020 and then following the football seasons from there to place the season 3 finale in May 2022 - but in 3.04, all the cute texts we see to all the characters in his phone were badly misdated, placing the timeline further in the future. This caused arguments or misunderstandings, at the time about the actual timeline of the show, but it seems this was another detail the producers really wanted to fix and tighten up, as they've gone back and had it edited.

It's weird, because the texts Ted was actually going back to - the messages from Doctor Jacob - were dated correctly as late 2019, and there's even a little easter egg in the form of a US rideshare notification picking him up to go to the airport in America, on 5 January 2020. (Even the area code, 316, is apparently correct to Kansas.) That's all correct even in the original version of the episode, but somehow we then skip a year and place his most recent texts, as of 3.04, in late October 2022, when they should only be in late September or early October 2021. (I found this post on Reddit that screenshotted his phone at the time.) Examples:

I had to go back and check this, and sure enough, it's been edited to reflect the established timeline - they didn't just redate the year on each message, they also changed a bunch of the chats to be more recent - so rather than dates, his most recent chats with Henry, the Coaches, etc are from "Yesterday," then the first dated texts are in very late September 2021. This matches up pretty perfectly with where they are in a typical Premier League season - they REALLY cleaned it up. Further back, they do just switch the years on the dates, so he still got a picture from Sassy last Valentines Day, and his last one-on-one contact with Jamie is still set before the events of Wembley in 2.08 (FA Cup semi finals are in April, so a few weeks after the March 2021 date on Jamie's chat.)

My brain is itching because I swear there was a screen of Nate and Ted's text chat at some point too? With Ted reaching out about his new job, on a date that deeply did not work with the timeline? But maybe I imagined it. There's no record of Nate's number in his phone at all now, and the texts date back to before Nate left, so I guess in this version of events, Ted deleted Nate's number and message history.

Anyway, I'm aware that basically no one is going to care about this, but I suspect that the three people who will actually care will REALLY FUCKING CARE. Has anyone else noticed it? Does anyone know when it may have happened? Does anyone know what else might have been changed or fixed? I love details and I love the fact that there is no longer conflicting data about what football seasons the show is covering - it's mid 19/20 to the end of 21/22, end of story - but what a fucking mess the production of season 3 must have been, to end up at this point!

I've decided to piece together all the Koincidences that I could find since fall 2019.

It's easy to not understand LSKs when you haven't seen all the flagging that they've been doing, especially with how the Lover Era went as well as Folkmore. But once you start to piece all those hints together in a timeline, it paints a pretty clear picture.

I've spent hours in both their social medias pages and searching for Timelines done by other amazing blogs on here.

I'll credit when needed and link to the timelines.

I'm used to doing threads on Twitter and posting everything, not just link. I'll do the same here because I've notice that a lot of posts linked into timelines on here were deleted. This way all the informations are in one place.

August 2019:

August 3rd: Karlie's birthday. Taylor posts the famous Bi Hearts Crispies Treats, that will star in the Lover Lyrics Video later too.

August 8th: Taylor is on the Cover of Vogue.

She is wearing a Cartier Love Ring. Karlie wears one too, she has wore it for a very long time now (years before this article) on her right ring finger.

Wich is interesting because back in August, Taylor released the Lover Lyrics Video with a lot of Kaylor references (see the link I put back in august).

But on that video, there's a reference to their Big Sur second trip (X)

Driver Profiles: Alex Albon

Name: Alexander Albon Ansusinha

Age: 28

Nationality: Thai-British

Years in F1: 5 (Toro Rosso Early 2019, Red Bull July 2019-2020, Williams 2022-Present)

Driving Style: Albon has a more smooth and gentle style compared to many F1 drivers, and is known for preferring cars with a strong front end as they allow him to make more precise movements. He is a very patient driver, and excels in tire management which allows him to use different strategies than other drivers. Albon also does well in high pressure situations, and keeps his cool where other may falter. The negative style of this driving is that he struggle in wheel-to-wheel fighting as he sometimes lacks aggression, and often is lacking in qualifying after not pushing the car hard enough.

History:

Albon was born into a racing family, with both his father and uncle being competitive racers. He was given his first kart when he was 7 years old and competed for the first time in 2005 at the age of 8, competing locally and winning his local Hoddesdon Championship. He would prove to be a naturally talented racer during his karting career, and have one of the most title winning stints in karting out of the current F1 drivers.

In 2006 Albon started racing in the cadet class, finishing 1st at the Kartmasters British Grand Prix. He also participated in the Super 1 National Honda Cadet Championship finishing 1st in 2006 and 2nd in 2007. In 2008 he moved up to the KF3 class where he stayed until 2010. During this time Albon won the Kartmasters British Grand Prix, Formula Kart Stars Championship, KF Winter Series, Super 1 National KF3 Championship, CIK-FIA World Cup, and CIK-FIA European Championship. In 2011 Albon graduated to KF1 placing 2nd in the WSK Euro Series and 2nd at the CIK-FIA World Championship.

He graduated to car racing in 2012, joining the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup Series, but unfortunately would have a very poor year, finishing in 38th place. His season was slightly better the next year, and he was able to achieve 22 points. His 2013 season was his best year in that series, as be finished 3rd in the championship. During his time in this series he also formed a relationship with the Red Bull Junior Team, joining in 2012 however that relationship would soon end.

in 2015 he switched to Euro F3 and finished 3rd overall, getting 3 wins in the process. His 2016 year in GP3 would be his best year yet, finishing 2nd after a tight battle with his teammate Charles Leclerc. 2017 was Albon's first foray into F2, and was a middling year for the driver. While he achieved multiple high points finishes, and two podiums, he also had some poor finishes and his season was interrupted by broken collar bone. He finished the F2 season at 10th in the championship.

His second season in F2 was a lot more positive. He had joined a new team, and seemed to suit their car a lot better. This was the year he achieved his first F2 wins, winning in Silverstone, Sochi, and the Hungaroring. Unfortunately he has a series of retirements due to mechanical failure, which would drop him down to 3rd in the championship, behind George Russell and Lando Norris. His performance that year garnered attention from an F1 team, and while Albon had signed with a team in Formula E to race in the 2018-19, he broke contract and instead signed with F1's Toro Ross for the 2019 season, reigniting the Red Bull relationship.

When Albon joined Toro Rosso he became the first Thai driver since the 1950s to compete in F1. His first year with Toro Rosso would be extremely positive, and although he did not achieve a lot of points, he pushed the car to its limits and was able to reach a 6th place race finish. It was his solid performance in the first half of the year that made Red Bull decide to remove Pierre Gasly from their seat half way through the season, and replace him with Albon.

The second half of his rookie season was spent in a top 3 car, a big move for any rookie. He would have a positive rest of the season, scoring high points finishes regularly and achieving his career highest 4th place. He finished 8th in the championship, and while he was out scored by his teammate Max Verstappen, it was not by an aggressive margin. This is especially impressive when you consider that he was with a midfield team for the first half of the year.

2020 was a bad year for Albon. While he had a few high points finishes, and achieved his first podium at the Tuscan GP, he also often found himself scoring outside of the points. Multiple crashes dropped him to the back of the grid, and scrutiny from the press only seemed to make the driver perform even poorer. While he finished 7th in the championship, this was outweighed by his teammate getting 2nd. A lot of his struggles were attributed to the car being developed around Verstappen, who has a very unique driving style Albon said is "eye-wateringly sharp". After this season he was demoted to a test and reserve driver for 2021, and also worked as a coach for AlphaTauri's Yuki Tsunoda.

Late 2021 it was announced that Albon had signed a contract with Williams for the 2022 season. This would mean the end to the official relationship between Red Bull and Albon, who had worked with them since 2012. However, Red Bull principal Christian Horner did say that their casual relationship was still intact and there was the possibility for a Red Bull return in the future.

His 2022 season with Williams was very bad, mostly because the team did not have the car to compete. He partnered his old F2 teammate Nicholas Latifi and out paced him for most of the season. His highest finished that year was 9th, and he scored 4 out of Williams 8 that year. He finished the year 19th in the standing, only ahead of Latifi. 2023 was a slightly more positive year, and he was partnered by Logan Sargent. He would finish at his highest with Williams that year, with a 6th place position. He once again out paced his teammate, and ended 13th in the championships, helping Williams achieve 6th in the constructers.

In 2024 he continued with Williams, and it was later announced he had signed a multi-year deal with the team. It was another not so great year for Williams, and they finished 9th in the WCC, with Albon finishing 16th.

He is set to continue with Williams for the 2025 season, partnering Carlos Sainz.

Major Races:

2019 German GP - Still with Toro Rosso, this was the race that solidified him move to Red Bull, as he pulled an underperforming car up to a 6th place finish. This drive showed his ability to pull the best out of the car.

2019 Brazilain GP - Albon's first chance at a podium with Red Bull, an unfortunate incident with Lewis Hamilton denied him 3rd place. However, for a majority of the race he was performing extremely well and he most definitely would have achieved it if not for the crash. Contact with Hamilton would become a running theme for Albon during this year.

2020 Tuscan GP - Albon's first podium, the race showed his resilience and strength under pressure. This was a long awaited result, and a key moment in his career.

2022 Belgian GP - After a year out of F1, Albon came back and delivered a standout performance with Williams. He had a fantastically defensive drive, and showed his steady approach to racing, grabbing a much needed point for his team

2023 Canadian GP- His best result since returning to F1, Albon was able to pull an underperforming car up to a 7th place finish. His tire management skills allowed him to hold off much faster cars behind him, turning what could have been a difficult race into extremely positive results.

2024 Update

Hello!

Long time no see.

It's been some years since I've been on here, and I just stumbled upon my old page. Time has gone by, and life happened.

Simply put, my love for Kpop/KHH/KR&B has somewhat diminished, but I still do listen from time to time, as well as watch Korean shows (not necessarily KDramas). I am a part of the 2nd and the 3rd generation K-pop scene, so my interest still leans toward those groups. I honestly think K-pop has become a little washed up. (Don't hurt me!)

I'm slowly coming back around to my middle and high school days and want to become more active on here again if that is still an option for some.

I'm not knowledgeable of any new groups < 2016, so this page may be for an older generation. Same for the Hip Hop and R&B scenes ( except for DPR Live and his crew, which I discovered in 2019 and still love.)

But I just want to say that if this page grows into a space for older Korean music and drama fans, that would be great. This way, we can have something of our own.

I just wanna thank you so much for your completely earned deconstruction of the writer/reader relationship. I have 2 separate writing blogs, and one, my main in fact, I've all but completely given up on until I want to write again. The other is being transferred to be my new main, and I'm not sure if I'll take requests. I've been debating just taking commissions that I'm comfortable with, and posting my own writing when the mood strikes. You've really made me think, and I appreciate that so much! ❤️

I'm not sure if you've had a similar experience, but basically one of my works exploded somewhat and another did to a lesser extent. I was working on other things and all anyone cared about was those two fics.

When I tell you I pored hours upon hours into this super high fantasy rewrite crossover of my favorite game with the same characters, I mean it. My first chapter was over 8k and I made sure I did a bunch of research to nail both the combat, and dialouge.

I posted it, initially meant to be posted between that and one of the fics- only for it to be ignored and instead all I got was update asks. No-one cared when it was right in my rules that it gave me anxiety and made me not want to write.

It got so bad, I literally dropped the blog. I haven't updated my most popular work since 2019 and I've only the past 6 months got inspired for the secondary popular fic. I got so in my head- desperate to do what my readers wanted and not upset anyone. To this day the next chapter sits half written, with me still torn to rewrite it entirely, or just finish it the way I want to and go from there. Yet it's so soured for me. I still love my concept. I still kind of want to repurpose it and flesh it out but I just get such a bitter taste in my mouth and I freeze and get anxiety even now when I re-read it.

Ironically the lack of reception to my passion project was my wake up call. I was genuinely devastated. I had one thankfully amazing commenter(of course on Archive of Our Own), who didn't know my niche little fantasy video game save its very opening hours(It's Final Fantasy 4, in case you're curious), but clicked anyway and gushed about my execution. A whole 4-5 paragraphs. I cried when I read it, beaming ear to ear grin.

If it wasn't for her? I very well may have quit posting my writing altogether and you know what? I still post that fic. Slowly, granted. My 2nd chapter was 9k+ and the 3rd is looking to be over 10k and has taken over 2 years thanks to a lot going on. She posted again on that 2nd chapter though! And I go back and read it when I need inspiration. I'm basically solely posting it for her.

Just...thanks. For sharing how you feel on this. I've always really struggled with feeling selfish, or like I have no right to ask for a comment. I still can put myself down and feel incredibly guilty, especially about that constantly asked about fic. Feel like I should take the likes and update asks with a smile because "that means they like it, obviously, they're asking for more, right?" I don't think people not actively creating and posting get it, and you truly put it into words in a way I've struggled with for years.

I'm new here, and still playing through the game and all, but please know at least I see you. I appreciate all the hard work you do and put in. You don't owe any of anything, and I'm so grateful for anything you choose to share with us. I think a lot of people underestimate how intimate sharing our writing is.

Also appreciate you mentioning the difference in respect between fanartists and fanwriters. SO many people think "Anyone can write." and we get belittled so much faster for offering commissions too. It takes just as much skill, whether people believe that or not.

Especially someone struggling with the same thing I am. Thank you for taking the time to write and tell me this, i never thought anyone would bother to read my rant or take it seriously.

I relate to a lot of the things you've just described, it's really horrible how the world can twist something we love and are passionate for into something that hurts us instead. I'm never forgiving anyone who made me feel anxious about writing a story I was excited about or for posting something knowing instead of feedback I'd be met with asks about updating the more popular story.

And I'm happy to hear that you take commissions, just to make it clear I'm totally against the whole "mixing money with art makes it lose meaning" fiasco. I think it's stupid and people who claim that they don't understand that you can never put art in a box or steal its meaning away, that artists are people who need to eat and pay their bills too.

Your writing more than deserves money, it's something intimate that we pour our heart into, that we take parts of our life experience and memories and put it in the story to give it its own life.

Fuck anyone who thinks writing is below art, just because it's written words. They never consider the planning, creativity, writing style and experience, the research, plot and energy it takes.

If anything at least you can draw and paint while listening to music or watching youtube, you can let your hand go on autopilot every now and then. With writing it's one of those jobs you can't distract your mind from, you have to be present and you have to focus on every word and line, consider every dialogue option and every descriptive word, it's draining mentally and takes so much focus.

Both art and writing are important, all artists deserve respect and compensation for their work. People are getting too comfortable demanding work that takes literal hours from your life for free or a low price, a work they'll consume so quickly and never give a second thought to.

I hope things get better for both you and me, I hope we find readers who appreciate us for who we are, who actually respect and value our work instead of consuming it mindlessly, who understand what it takes to create and the amount of time we're giving out for free.

Who realise that taking 10 or 5 minutes to write a comment under a fic and phrase it politely isn't that hard, how it's literally all we ask for because it means the world to see someone appreciate our effort.

Good luck on your new blog <3 Close the requests whenever you want and open them whenever you want. Write how you want to, and please don't let anyone steal the joy of writing away from you.

List of Favorite Event Stories

The end of February to the mid of March sees important developments of several franchises’ main stories unfolding. Specifically, I’m talking about Granblue Fantasy, which is in the middle of its 9th anniversary celebration and Twisted Wonderland, of its 3rd anniversary. Yumekuro celebrated its 1st anniversary in February, so there were a series of events and campaigns going on. In January, Akuneko released Episode 2.5 of the main story, which not only has a significant impact on the main storyline but also on the game's mechanics. Mahoyaku… well, it’s rolling out monthly updates on main story 2 as usual.

All the events in the game franchise I'm playing have inspired me to compile a list of stories (mainly events) that have left the most memorable impression on me. Needless to say, these are just my opinions.

It's hard to pick just three favourite stories from a franchise that's been around for nine years. Not to mention the large cast, the rich and detailed world-building, and the rather complex ecosystem. So I'm going to cheat a little by choosing not an event title, but a series title.

The Archangel Saga is undoubtedly #1 for me. It consists of a trilogy that includes What Makes the Sky Blue, What Makes the Sky Blue II: Paradise Lost, and What Makes the Sky Blue III: 000. The series revolves around the relationship between former Supreme Primarch Lucifer and the archangel Sandalphon, and incorporates philosophical motifs into its plot. Given what happens at the end of the latest instalment, a continuation of the saga may be possible in the future (I hope).

The Dragon Knight series is next. Longer than the Archangel Saga, it contains 9 event stories, which are: Defender's Oath, Four Knights of a Fallen Land, Between Frost and Flame, Divergent Knighthoods, Welcome to the Bistro Feedranche, SIEGFRIED, The Saviour of Dalmore, The Strength to Wield, and To Each His Ideal. Loosely based on the Arthurian legend, the series has yet to reach its conclusion.

Romeo and Juliet series - in terms of intensity, this one is quite a leap from the previous two, but I still like it. The series consists of three event stories: So Close and Yet So Far, By Any Other Name, and Good Night Till It Be Morrow.

Special mention: Society and Foe, Kingdom of Levin, Kingdom of Irestill, and Alchemist. They're too good to be left out, even though they're not my top three, especially Society and Foe, which rivals Dragon Knight in greatness.

Precious, but unranked simply because I don’t know how to put them in order: Created by the Stars, Loved by the Skies (8th anniversary event story), …And You (9th anniversary event story), Together in Song (sequel to the Selfira and Elta series), The Maydays (summer vacation 2019), Sincerely, Your Dearest Friend (summer vacation 2022), and finally, the one I will never have in my own archive because I hadn’t started playing GBF yet at the time, Katsugeki Touken Ranbu: Fate Horizon (collaborative event with TKRB in 2017).

2. Twisted Wonderland (TWST)

The most substantial story, in all the franchise listed here, is undeniably the main part. But for TWST, the veracity of the statement increases tenfold, if it weren’t for the Halloween event 2022. Before that, all the events in TWST give me the impression of being detached from the main story almost completely. This is not to say they’re not enjoyable, of course. It’s just none of them generates the same level of excitement with the main story, which, again, is simply my personal experience with the game. With that being said, my top 3 events from TWST are:

Glorious Masquerade ~Crimson Flowers and the Bell of Salvation~ When I said TWST events stories giving an impression of being detached from the main story, I guess I have to exclude this one because it includes a huge chunk of information that may or may not be related to the main story (if you know what happened in part 37 of Chapter 7, you’ll probably have a good guess of what this means). That, in itself, is highly intriguing to ponder about, which is why I pick it as my #1.

Ghost Marriage ~Proposal of Destiny~ I like the premise and chaos that surrounds the entirety chain of events. I don’t know if they’ll continue this event or make an entirely new one, but I hope we can see the entire casts with tuxedo someday.

Wish Upon a Star ~Dance and Wishes~ Less than the story itself, I’m putting it in the third place because of the outfits and the BGM. May not be fair given this is a list of my favorite stories, but hey, the music makes me enjoy the story so…?

It’s tempting to give a commentary on each, but nothing I want to say hasn’t been said by someone else in MHYK fandom. Additionally, there are many other scenes in events unlisted above that decimated me completely, for example Figaro and Shylock’s conversation in West Etude, Murr and Figaro’s (Walpurgis 2020), White(adult)’s remark to Olivia, etc. This also includes the interactions in various log-in stories of all events and/or campaigns.

4. Yumekuro (YMKR)

Looking at the in-game events gallery, I’m surprised to see that I haven’t read the majority of them. Because of that, I’m not sure if I should include YMKR but well… I did. The first four ones earn their sport because they have my favorite characters and the last solely because it Alice’s Adventure in Wonderland-themed event.

5. Akuneko (AKNK)

The easiest franchise to do. It didn’t even take more than five minutes, I think. Without further ado, here they are.

The Black Tea Party ― I seriously hope they’ll do some sort of continuation of this event. The premise is interesting and certainly has room for more complex development. Even better if they can tie it into the main story.

The Captive Dolls ― Probably because we don’t see Lato much in the main story, and precisely because we’re going to see him soon, this event becomes twice as intriguing to me.

Strawberry Garden & Rose Valentine (Valentine 2022) ― Simple but heartwarming and entertaining enough for me.

Additionally, Masquerade Jewel… though more because of the outfits rather than the story, haha.

Alright everyone! I've succeeded to write the plots of the storylines at last. Yes, you heard right! PLOTS! Because today I'm not gonna offer one, nor 2, nor 5 but 3 new storylines plots that I want to make in the future. Here they are ✨!

[THE NEW, UNAMED STORYLINE]

This storyline just popped out very recently in my head due to playing Rolling Sky, a game that I've also discovered in the recent time. It starts with a cloud girl, named Sorra, who was living in a kingdom where there were created "heroes" to protect it. One day, Sorra got the card to a future teller and went to them for solving her loneliness and told her to go to the place where heroes are born and do what they say. Sorra followed the future teller's guidance and from The Birth Place, she just created a hero just for her. The cloud woman then did her Guider job and started showing the kingdom to the hero. Because of her action, Sorra awakened an old force that was locked away for centuries and the kingdom is about to suffer deadly consequences. Her fate was fully doomed until she met a well-known outlaw gang as an only temporary solution for her survival.

[UNNAMED STORYLINE NUMBER 2 😈]

This one popped out more recently as I watched Lego Dreamzzz, which also reminded me of Deltarune, so some of this story's gimmicks is inspired from the funny Toby Fox game from 2019 :)).

The current events of this story happen after the reunion of 2 clans, Earthers and Outsiders and living together in harmony for thousands of years. A group of children will discover a entrance to a new world after getting stuck together at communitary work, a form of detention that was "more productive" according to the school principal. That world is being connected to the surface one and a unknown presence messes up around, creating up incidents that, if not solved, they may cause irreversible damage to the existence, eventually erasing it at its whole.

[UNNAMED STORYLINE THE 3RD 😁✨]

This is so far from the darkest storylines I've ever thought of, as it's thematics tend to be rather psychological in overall, even though the beginning is most likely like any other, with a little bit of mystery vibe. This storyline is about Zorra, an in-becoming sorceress who moved with her family to new realms, for the better of their potions and herbs business. Along with her little sister, Zorra explores the land of [INSERT, despite that I have an idea to this], discovering about an ancient legend of 12 books that are destined to bring total destruction. A infamous mad-hatter and a rebellious band join in her journey to destroy the books and free the realms from chaos.

Return of the Mermaid

2023’s 3rd Most Memorable Moment

If we had a dose of Vitamin C last January, we had an actual mermaid last December.

By Mermaid, I mean my very close friends, Monica, who immigrated to the US shortly after we graduated high school and has only been here in the Philippines for a vacation every few years—the last time was in 2019, and it was also a contender for my Top 10 Moments list for that year but sadly fell short, giving birth to our #JusticeForMermaids group chat.

Anyway, we had a better plan this year, that’s why it placed really high—and my 2023 wasn’t eventful, to be honest.

We rented an Airbnb rest house in Amadeo, Cavite, but before we headed there, we had lunch at Balay Dako. Some of the food we ordered were their signature paella, lumpiang sariwa, camaron rebosado, ginataang langka, and chicharong bulaklak—Monica had been craving this for days, and tried to order in two different restaurants she had been to recently, but they were sadly unavailable.

After buying some groceries, we then went to our Airbnb. The place was very cozy, it had a small, four-feet deep pool, and we had the entire place to ourselves.

When we’ve already settled, we had a mandatory photoshoot at the side of pool, then we went back inside our room to present our ✨ Life update ✨ presentations, which was Wilma’s idea. I created mine just that morning, right before I readied myself, and I simply copied the stuff from my blog and placed it on a pdf.

Wilma went first, then me. I also introduced to them the guy I was seeing who joined us via Zoom—they were so thrilled to meet him. Marjette, Monica, and Trish followed after me in that order. These presentations went on until 11:00 PM, and we finished one bottle of pink moscato—around 75% was consumed by me, so I was a bit drunk when it was Trish’s turn. And even though I’d love to share all their juicy stories here, they’d kill me if I did.

The following day, we played Cards Agains Humanity, and then went out for a while to buy food for breakfast. Then, we took dip in the pool right after eating.

Upon checking out, we hit the road going to Imus—we were gonna have lunch at Wilma’s house. It was a last minute idea, so her mom just prepared all the food she could get out from the fridge for us. We stayed and rested there for a while, then took a short drive going to Monica’s house for her dinner party.

We brought Wilma’s Tetris Jenga and played for one round, but we never got to finish it ‘coz we were already invited to eat. The moment we returned to our table with our food, the wind blew the jenga tower that we’ve built so far.

Our high school friends, Sarah and Jef, came to the party as well. And we sang karaoke while emptying the three remaining bottles of pink moscato—again, I think I may have drunk 75% of those, meaning I was more wasted then than I was the night before. My most favorite song that we sang that night was Rivermaya’s “You’ll Be Safe Here” because it was such a throwback, and we were harmonizing when we were singing.

You know why I love this memory so much? I woke up the day after feeling a bit depressed ‘coz I just missed being with them. Stuff like this happens only once every few years, and we haven’t even been complete yet—Celine was missing here, Monica wasn’t present back in January.

Maybe we should plan for the next winter solstice, then?
