My reaction to UP10TION’s Light was actually quite similar to my experience playing Halo 4. For one thing the last UP10TION mv I want to remember seeing was White Night but the last UP10TION mv I actually saw was Candyland and my brain was not able to process that mv given the status I gave to UP10TION. So watching Light seemed like a whole different storyline and I was lost, similar to playing Halo 4. The difference tho is that I fucking hate Halo 4. The Light mv was alright, I don’t know what they were doing tho. Bit-To was doing some stuff and I saw Kogyeol just out with things and I think it’s Kuhn? Gyul?? We totally got that wrong and a screenshot wouldve helped yet here we are, but that member looked good. The black and white suits with the cut-outs and crops were doing fun things and the colored suits and screenshoting would be overwhelming but they all looked and sounded good. But there’s only 7 members. I heard Jinhoo was in enlisting or already in and then I have no idea if Wei and Wooshin are going to come back to UP10TION. Based on previous groups having members that do similar situations I’m gonna say no they aren’t. But good lord I hope I’m wrong cause it looks so weird seeing UP10TION with 7 members. It looks very empty.

The bell rang for lunch and you slammed your book closed way too hard. A couple classmates seated near you eyes you briefly before you snapped a cross ‘what?’ at them as you stretched your tense back.

You’d been in a bad mood all morning since the interaction with Hwanhee, that girl, Bo, and Dongyeol. Although, the girl had stuck up for you to Hwanhee, it did nothing for who’s reactions you were annoyingly aware of, all the time.

Dongyeol.

You picked up your own and frustratedly scratched scribbles in your notebook. Bo, who had briefly popped out to go to the snack bar, came bustling back in towards you at lightening speed. Bo grabbed your arm and began pulling. You resisted at first. Scowling at her antics.

“Why are you pulling me?”

“Just come on! Trust me!”

You groaned and let her drag you out of the classroom and into the hallway where the windows overlooked the small courtyard of the school. Bo pointed at three boys standing in the courtyard, faces off like a bad western. Your heart jumped. You could spot Dongyeol miles away. And you could hear Hwanhee miles away. But the third boy...

“That’s J!” Bo pipped. “I saw him sitting out there sleeping.or something. When Hwanhee and Dongyeol walked up to him.”

“What do you think they’re saying?” You asked with your throat in your chest.

“Well I know J better be saying how there is literally nothing between you two and Hwanhee comes back up here to apologize and Dongyeol—“

“It doesn’t look like any of that..” You noted, eyes still on the boys. Dongyeol’s jaw has stiffened and so had J’s. Hwanhee’s hands were waving in the air, his chest stuck so far out, it looked like it was inflated. With hot air. You presumed. Then before you knew it, J was turning his back on Dongyeol and Hwanhee and walking away. You frowned.

“What’s that all about?” Bo pondered aloud. You shrugged and moved away from the window. Leaning against the wall just by the doorway of the classroom.

“Who cares?” You tried to sound nonchalant. Bo saw right through it and rolled her eyes.

“You do. I bet—“

“Y/N!” a guy’s voice called out to you in the hallway, cutting Bo off. You both turned and saw J approaching.

“Hey, J. What’s up?” You smiled at your friend. J handed you a box of chocolate milk.

“You said you like sweet drinks.”

“Oh?” You sputtered caught slightly off guard. “Yeah. Thanks?” You laughed a little to keep from feeling awkward. J scratched the back of his head slightly and smiled through the sudden awkwardness as well. Bo stood directly at a 45 degree angle from both of you and absolutely soaked up the whole situation in complete silence. J’s eyes flitted to Bo for a brief second before landing on the hall behind you.

“I just wanted to say thanks again for the help. I feel like i’m gonna pass the test this time.”

“That’s great! Confidence is key!” You babbled. Eyebrows flinching and betraying your exterior carefree attitude. J laughed regardless.

“I guess so.” J paused. “Hey, if i really does pass. I’ll owe you a movie.”

Bo’s eyebrows practically took off flying. Your eyes widened a bit, but you kept your composure.

“I’ll hold you to that.” You teased. You wouldn’t really. But then again, maybe you would...if he was even serious, anyway. J smiled a reassured smile that made you think twice about being so nonchalant. He nodded at both you and Bo before leaving for his classroom. Bo slid up next to you.

“How much do you wanna bet he told Dongyeol and Hwanhee that he likes you down there.”

“What?? J?? No way!” You rejected one hushed tones. Bo folded her arms and shook her head in shame at your denial.

“You can’t even tell what’s important here.”

“And what’s that Know-It-All?” You started to turn to walk back into the classroom. Bo followed you, speaking excitedly but in low tones.

“You saw them down in that courtyard! If J really was down there confessing his feelings for you to Dongyeol and Hwanhee, then that means Dongyeol didn’t like what he heard!”

That stopped you in your tracks. You managed to plod your way back to your seat and began fiddling with your books. Not sure how to feel. Delusional? Excited? Worried about a misunderstanding? If Dongyeol thought J liked you, and he also thought that you two were sharing chocolate milk from the same straw in public...what else would be left to think of? On the other hand, if J did confess to Dongyeol his feelings about you, and Dongyeol didn’t like it, that had to mean it was because Dongyeol likes you, right? Would he fight for you? Would he try to win your favor first? Should you play as if you know nothing? Did you, in fact, actually know anything though?? As your worries and hopes crashed and swirled together in your mind, you felt Bo slyly poke you back to reality. Bo hissed,

“Look who’s on his way over.”

It was Dongyeol. Holding a glass bottle close to his side. When he reached your desk he simply smiled at you and put the drink down on it.

“I know you like these. Hazlenut latte...right?”

Your heart skipped at his smile. You managed to get out,

“Right.”

↬ As soon as Jinhyuck had left your room, you pulled up your phone and typed out a text to Hyunjung. 

21:13 - heyyyy, can you come back here? and possibly bring sojung? there’s something i need to tell you 

You didn’t even need for her to send you an answer, they were going to come over for sure. Sojung’s dorm room was just down the hall, so you knew it wouldn’t be long until they would be crashing through the door, excited about what you were about to talk to them about. You turned on a kettle to make some tea, and the second it was ready, the front door opened and in came your friends. “What was Jinhyuk doing in here? And why were you two hugging?!” Sojung spoke in a loud voice, and if you two hadn’t been friends for four years now, you would’ve thought she was almost mad. But she wasn’t; far from it. “How come I hear this from Hyunjung and not from you yourself?”

“Well hello to you too, I guess,” you chuckled. “An if you just sit down I will explain!” You pointed with your head towards the couch in the room, where Hyunjung had already sat down, and picked up the kettle aswell as some teacups. Sojung sat down on the couch and you poured up tea in all the cups before sitting down on the floor. “So...”

“So?” Hyunjung said. You could tell that she was excited - her smile was glowing and she sat on the edge of her seat, really anticipating what you were going to say.

“Jinhyuck and I...” You took a deep breath, preparing yourself for what to say next. “We’ve been seeing each other for a while. Like, on dates. And today, he asked me to be his girlfriend...” You let out a sigh. You weren’t used to lying, other than a couple white lies here and there. This was a completely new feeling for you. 

You realized that you had been looking down into your tea the whole time, so you slowly raised your eyes to look at your friends.

They were speechless. Wide-eyedly, they continued to stare at you for a couple of moments, before you had to laugh at their reactions. “Why? What’s wrong?”

“What do you mean what’s wrong? You’re dating the coolest guy on campus and you don’t even tell us?!” Sojung half-yelled, finally letting a smile crack out over her face. “How is he? Is he nice? Have you two kissed yet?”

“No, we haven’t,” you told her strictly. You didn’t want her to get any hopes up too quickly, you weren’t sure if you would be able to keep up that kind of act in front of them. At least not now. You loosened up a bit and smiled, looking down in your tea again. “But yes, he’s really sweet.”

“If he breaks your heart, I will-“ Hyunjung began but stopped herself mid-sentence. “I hope he makes you happy.”

You nodded. “He does.” And for some reason, at that moment, your stomach was filled with butterflies. It was as if you for the first time actually realized what you had gotten yourself into. The thought of spending time with Jinhyuck in the future, being close with him and pretending to be his girlfriend made your stomach flip. And let me tell you, this was just the beginning.

The next morning, you woke up and got ready for classes, and you didn’t really think about Jinhyuck. Your mind was too clouded with thoughts for that chemistry test you were taking today. Not even when you were done with it and could finally relax, you gave a single mind about the whole relationship situation. So when at lunch, when you were eating with your friends, and they suddenly stopped talking mid-sentence to stare up behind you, you were confused but didn’t think much about it. Until you felt a hand on your shoulder.

Slowly, you turned your head around, looking up at the person standing behind you. Jinhyuck. You smiled. “Hi,” you said softly.

“Hi,” he answered. “Are these seats taken?” He signaled with his hand at the empty seats on the table you were currently sitting at, and you now noticed that he wasn’t standing there all alone - some of his friends from the baseball team were with him.

“No!” Sojung yelled, and you gave her a quick semi-mad look as if to tell her to calm down. “I mean, n-no, they’re not. Sorry.” She continued in a lower and softer voice, making Jinhyuck chuckle. 

“It’s fine,” he told her and smiled before he and the rest began sitting down. Him in the seat next to you. “How did your test go?”

You stopped for a moment, trying to figure out what he meant. The chemistry test? Had you really told him about that? “The one in chemistry?” you asked and he hummed as an answer. How did he know about that? you thought. “Better than expected! Mr. Kim always gives us harder homework than the actual tests...” 

Right as he was about to say something else, Seungyoun sat down in front of you two, a big sandwich in his hands. He was very straightforward instantly. “So, tell me... what’s going on here?” He pointed with his head towards the two of you as he took a bite of his sandwich, and you realized suddenly that you were sitting very closely; your entire leg was pushed up against his, and your shoulders were touching too. 

“Well,” you started, feeling your cheeks getting a bit warm. 

“She’s my girlfriend,” Jinhyuck said proudly. 

Seungyoun scoffed and took another bite, swallowing it down before continuing with his questions. “Since when? And how come this hasn’t come up anytime we’ve talked, Y/N? Especially during that talk yesterday?” 

“Wait, what talk?” Jinhyuck asked, turning to you with a confused look on his face. 

“Since yesterday evening,” you tried to change the subject back to Seungyoun’s first question, putting a finger on Jinhyuck’s cheek and pushing his face to look forward instead of directly at you. “Or, well, official since yesterday evening. But we’ve been going out for  a while now.” 

“How long? Exactly? 

“Jeez, I haven’t kept track of exact minutes.” 

Seungyoun gave you a suspicious look. “Y/N, I know you. We’ve been friends for four years now. If you finally had been able to get a date, and especially with Mr. handsome over here,” He pointed over at Jinhyuck with his sandwich. “You would’ve, first of all, written it all over your calendar and counted at least days or weeks since the first one, especially if there had been others following it. And second of all, you would’ve at least mentioned it to Sojung and Hyunjung. Third of all, since when do you have time to go on dates?” You couldn’t help but letting out a laugh at his sudden unexpected rant. This guy, you thought. “And lastly, you would’ve come screaming to me about it instantly, because we all know it’s been a while since you had a date...” You finger-flicked him on his forehead because of that last comment. 

“You’re just jealous because he’s getting some and you aren’t, Seungyoun. Stop sulking,” you could hear a voice saying from a few seats away, making you and the boys laugh. 

“Are you done eating?” Jinhyuck turned over to you and asked, and you nodded at him. “Can I walk you to class?”

“Sure, but aren’t you going to eat anything?” You gave him a small pout. He had just sat down in the cafeteria a couple of minutes ago and hadn’t eaten anything, and you would’ve rather had him eating over walking you to class.

He grinned at your pout, (secretly finding you really cute,) and shook his head. “I’ll grab something quick before practice. So, shall we go?” You nodded and he stood up from the bench, offering you a hand to help you stand up aswell. You hung your schoolbag over your shoulder and turned around, waving goodbye to your friends, who now sat alone at a table with only boys from the baseball team (also known as the boys they’d been crushing on for the last 3.5 years, the entire reason they went to any of the baseball games), whose cheeks were growing redder by every second.

The hand that helped you up from the bench was still holding yours, you realized. But you didn’t pull away; instead, you intertwined your fingers with his, to which he smiled down at you as if to say good acting. “What class do you have?”

“History,” you mumbled and made a yuck-sound. “Classroom A102, in 10 minutes.”

The two of you began walking towards the classroom, and at first, you both were completely quiet. The hallways were crowded with people, all trying to get to their new classes after the lunch break, so you almost had to squeeze through people to get forward. Luckily, Jinhyuck held your hand tightly, making sure you wouldn’t lose each other. You knew that if it hadn’t been just for show, the hand holding would have made you into a huge blushing mess - but you controlled yourself, thinking about the fact that it was all just an act. When you finally made it into a quieter and less crowded area, Jinhyuck spoke up. “So, I’m not sure how you feel about parties, but... Wooseok’s throwing one. In his off-campus apartment, on Friday.” You nodded slowly, looking up at him. You weren’t a big fan of parties; you sometimes went to some with your friends just to let loose a bit, but you weren’t too keen on drinking so partying wasn’t something that interested you a lot. But you were aware of the fact that most of the baseball team did both arrange parties and go to parties. They were usually the ~main act~, drinking the most, getting the drunkest and doing the most stupid stuff. Though, you weren’t exactly sure about Jinhyuck and how much just he partied. “He said that he wanted me to come, and also to, quote, bring that pretty girlfriend of yours, endquote.”

“How did he know about me?” You asked.

“I might have gone straight to meet up with some of the guys yesterday after we talked. And I might have mentioned you...”

“Did they know who I am?”

“Well, you’re the best looking girl on the softball team, as well as the best pitcher. We’ve been talking about you and some of the other girls before, I think the whole team knows about you...” But now your cheeks blushed up. A lot. 

You looked down at the floor. Had you really been a topic in the boys' locker room? And did he just call you the best looking girl on the team?!

He stopped suddenly, and you realized that you two had arrived at your classroom. You tried to calm down and looked back up at him, who was also looking at you. “So? Are you free on Friday?”

“I think so? I’ll just have to double che-“

Before you could finish your sentence, he suddenly pulled you closer to him and leaned down to your ear. “People are looking so I’m just going to kiss your cheek before I leave, okay?” He whispered, and you shot a quick glance around you. He was right, people were looking at you two as if you were celebrities out in the public. 

And maybe to them, you were. That’s the thing about college hierarchy; you feel like you’re famous, but not always only in a good way. 

You pulled away a bit and nodded, giving him a smile. And he did it.

He leaned down, to your height and gave your cheek a soft kiss. ”I’ll talk to you later then, hm?” he said and you nodded, waving towards him as he left. 

Holding hands and having your cheek kissed by a boy who wasn’t your boyfriend was... weird. But when you thought about it, it also felt somewhat nice? It’s definitely something I can get used to, you thought to yourself as you headed inside the classroom.

another elimination has occurred and while most of my picks are through (thank god for that), a couple of them are out or have dropped in rank 🙃🙃

anyways without further ado, here are the ones i am keeping an eye on. fixed picks are non-negotiable with any combination of the strong contenders. i haven't thought about the logistics of positions (e.g. main dancer); these are just the people i'm drawn to.

fixed picks

1. cho seongyoun, rank 17: all-rounder of the year. hand on my heart, i believe him to be the strongest contender there. does this man have a single weakness or flaw? the answer is no. this episode showed so much of his personality which i'm so glad about bc it's amazing. who knew mnet could do some things right?

2. choi suhwan, rank 29: i legit spent a good chunk of last week agonising over suhwan's potential departure, especially after he was robbed in the position evaluations. at this point, i don't think he'll debut, but i hope he wows enough people in the concept evaluations to get signed by a company ♡

3. kim yohan, rank 3: he's a PD pick, but i can't help but love him anyway. he lightens up every room he's in and is just so charismatic. would not mind him in a rapping position

4. song yuvin, rank 12: made to be main vocalist, like his voice is sooo stable. has great chemistry with other trainees and he makes me laugh in nearly every scene he's in.

5. lee jinhyuk, rank 2: my reaction today when i saw how high he's climbed confirmed it for me that he's one of my fixed picks. that angel edit did him solid and i am loving it. tbh i would prefer him as a lead rapper rather than a main, but as long as he gets to shine, i'm cool with it

strong contenders

6. nam dohyun, rank 7: what a funky little rapper. the genius edit is a bit overdone, but it's true: his rapping ability is amazing for his training period. just imagine what he'd be like once he fully blooms?

7. han seongwoo, rank 9: everyone loves seungwoo and that includes me. was honestly so surprised to find out that he's a rapper, like what?? with those vocals?? wow another all-rounder here to claim everything

8. kim hyunbin, rank 25: my passionate baby. i feel like the only thing he lacks (and literally the only thing) are solid relations with other members in my line up, but i'm not 100% sure of that. if anyone knows more about that, please let me know!

9. lee hangyul, rank 15: i had him as someone i was interested in last week, but he is now a strong contender. i know bc i realised i lowkey rooted for him once i knew who he was and i just love his personality, he seems so nice and humble. i saw the relay cam of his and something about the way he interacted with others sold me. also (and i swear this doesn't affect him being on my list), the boy's visuals are no joke.

12. choi byungchan, rank 16: i love his personality, i think he'd be a riot on variety. i think his vocals deserve a lot more praise than they get too. out of the plan a boys, he's less likely to make it, but i'd love it if he did.

people i'm keeping an eye on

11. kim sihoon, rank 24: i moved him here from 'strong contender' after a bit of deliberation. i still am very much interested in how he fares on the show, but when i compare my interest in him to others, there is a noticeable difference. i think he is someone i'd be interested in regardless of whether he makes the final line up or not. (i've heard rumours of how fans think he might end up in ab6ix as a late member if he doesn't debut in pdx101).

12. kim wooseok, rank 1: again, i've accepted him as part of the final line up and have no problems with it, but i don't particularly stan him. although! i will say we did get a better insight into his personality in this episode and in the karaoke battle. he seems really... snarky in a good way? a little tongue-in-cheek? i really need to check him out in up10tion

13. son dongpyo, rank 11: i feel rlly sympathetic to him for being the only center to fall out of the top 10 and don't think he deserves it. not going to name names, but he is definitely more talented than a lot of the younger trainees in the current top 10 and has the cutesy image they like so i'm not sure why he's not there. now that he's toned down on the forced aegyo a bit, i can appreciate him more.

14. kim kookheon, rank 22: i can't believe i forgot to add him! i'm absolutely obsessed with the believer performance and he is someone who i keep getting drawn to in that. also he just seems like a stand-up guy.

UP10TION BLUE ROSE; DETECTIVE AU PT4

A and M arrive at A’s apartment block. “you didn’t have to walk me home.. now you have to stay over tonight” A grumbled, opening her apartment door with her keys. “maybe that was the plan?” M replied with a yawn. 

“Why so you can babysit me?” she mumbled, quickly walking into her room and slamming the door behind her. “who else is gonna mind you when you have your nightmares again? you’re acting like a baby might as well treat you like one” M stated waiting on the couch for A to come back. 

M started getting comfortable on the couch when A didn’t come back after 10 mins. She eventually did along with blankets and a pillow, she had also changed into some PJs. 

M: “I thought you were already fast asleep?” 

A shakes her head as a reply before throwing the blankets and pillow on top of M. She heads back into her room coming out with more pillows and blankets. 

M: “I think these are enough blankets..”

A: “I know but these ones are for me” 

“you not sleeping in your own bed?” M was confused by A’s statement. A lay on the 2nd couch in the room, it was smaller compared to the one M accommodated but she fit in perfectly. As she fixes the blankets and pillows around her, she answers “how are you gonna mind me and comfort me when I get nightmares if I'm in the other room? you won’t even know I'm having a nightmare if I'm in there” 

“or you wanna keep an eye on me too? but fine whatever you say” were the last words spoken by M before they both fell asleep.

 M was first to wake up at 5am. He spent his first hour awake making himself a coffee and debating whether to make breakfast for A and himself. He knew she never really had breakfast so he settled for his coffee and cereal. 

In the second hour, he began dosing off again. When he decided to get some more sleep he saw A tossing and turning. He tries to comfort her coming to her side. M pats her head, she calms down a small bit but she ends up waking. 

“I told you it was a good thing for me to stay over” M said leaving his hand in her hair. A pushes his hand away, “stop acting like you’re my dad, I'm fine and I swear if Kuba or Up10tion find out about this-” she says with a glare attempting to sit up but M lays her back down. “it’s okay just calm down, get some more sleep you need it, I'll wake you up in 2 hours” M assured.

2 hours later, A was outside her apartment block tying her shoelaces keeping the door open for M. She didn’t know that Yohan would be out there waiting for her. Yohan ran to her when he saw her come out and stopped in front of her as she stood up straight. “Y/N! look about last night-” he exclaimed as he ran to her but was cut off by M calling her. 

M comes from behind A, holding her bag. Once he sees Yohan he apologises for interrupting. A looks at M and then back at Yohan knowing the situation doesn’t look good. “Yohan it-” she begins but Yohan pulls her off to the side before she can finish. M was left there awkwardly standing there still holding A’s forgotten bag. 

“No it’s okay! I get it! I’m not jealous! I get that he’s your partner and he’s like your older brother but if it’s about the case, you know I'm here to listen and protect you” Yohan rambled while holding the girl’s hands, looking deeply into her eyes with his sparkling ones. She was falling for him again but knew she had to brush it off. “That totally didn't sound jealous” she said sarcastically trying to look at M to get her away from the convo. M made eye contact and knew what she wanted him to do but quickly dismissed her by going on his phone. He thought it would be better for A to stop running away from her problems specifically in her personal life. 

Yohan: “Y/N please just listen, we can finish our date another time but don’t push me away again, even when it’s about work I’ll be here, I saw how you were when you got the text for the case and then when M called you last night during dinner..” 

Yohan was clearly concerned and desperate to get A to understand that he could be the one by her side, listening, protecting and helping her with anything. He didn’t want to be pushed away again. A understood but knew she shouldn’t and couldn't involve her love life with her work.  

A: “Yohan.. this case.. you shouldn’t be hanging around me.. or be anywhere near anyone on this case, we.. we need to take a break for your safety okay? maybe we can finish our date after this case...” 

“sorry” she sighed before unlocking their hands and walking away. Yohan didn’t know what to do and stood still for a few seconds before asking “and when will that be?” as he turned around to watch A meet with M. She didn’t turn back to answer pretending not to hear, Yohan’s tone broke her heart though. 

When she reached M, who was still on his phone, she grabbed her bag from him. M noticed her still untied shoelaces before he looked up to greet her he tried to tie them for her but A being stubborn he swatted him away and continued walking. 

“Am I being too clingy? Are we moving too fast? Y/N...” Yohan yelled towards the two who just continued to walk away. They were both still able to hear, M looked at his partner for a reaction but nothing, they just kept walking. Yohan felt his shoulders slump down, tears already forming in his eyes, then he felt someone pat him on the shoulder. Wooseok, who had been there even before Yohan that morning, patted him and said “It’s for the best and your safety, trust me.. and A”. 

Yohan watched Wooseok through his teary eyes confused to who he was, Wooseok gave him one last small smile almost a smirk before following in JUST’s direction.

A and M enter the company going straight up to their office floor. Once the elevator doors open they were met with Chunga their secretary. 

Chungha: “Good Morning you two, Kuba and Kate are already in, there’s also a delivery for A.” 

Chungha points towards I.N in uniform with a clipboard and checklist. A went to him, earning a smile from him before he handed her the last of his deliveries. A bouquet of yellow roses. After signing her name A walks to her office, the rest of JUST already settled inside. 

Kuba spots the flowers instantly when A opens the transparent door. “Ooooh roses? who are they from?? Yohan?” he askes jumping to a seated position from laying down fully on one of the couches. Kate notices them after Kuba’s comment. “it’s not from another stalker now is it?” she asked, A checks the card attached to the flowers. ‘N’ written inside. She saw it coming, shoving the flowers towards M. “Burn them or you know give them to Kuba” she suggested. 

KA: “or.. we could give them to Up10tion, a small gift for the new member maybe? who are they from anyway?” 

M checks for himself, then pushing the roses towards Kuba’s face. A sits at her desk opening her laptop. Kuba thanks M before he checks who sent them, Kate looks towards him waiting for him to tell her who they’re from. 

KU: “Speaking of Up10tion.. none of their names start with ‘N’, huh? 

They all shake their heads as a response getting back to what they were doing. A and M on the laptop, while Kate stayed on her phone. 

Kuba continues to tease A about this unknown ‘N’. She blocks out Kuba’s teasing being too busy looking back over her sister’s files. A few minutes of revision M reminds her that it’s getting closer to 9′oclock. 

She nods finally getting her eyes off the screen. The others already out of the room, M holding the door waiting for her finish. Before she leaves the room she decides to bring the flowers she received, picking them up from the coffee table Kuba had left them on.

How he would kiss you:

Jinhoo: His lips would be so soft like omg. He would hold you really thight. He is really touchy and loves skinship afterall. He would pull you in a hug first and enjoy your fragrance from your hair and your perfume. After a while he would bring some distance between you but his hands still on your hips. Then he would smile at you brigthly. You would just look into each others eyes. He would lean in closer and kiss your forehead, then your cheek, the tip of your nose and then your lips. He would move his lips slowy against yours. After a while he would pull away slowly still his eyes closed and would lick his lips one time. Then he would brightly smile at you again and pull you in a loving hug.

Kuhn: He would be a little bit on the more rough side? Like biting on your lip playfully. Having one of his hands on your neck to hold you close and one hand on your lower back so that you cannot escape his tight grip. But you would enjoy it. You would enjoy being so close to this good looking man. You would enjoy his playful biting and little noises he would do. He would sometimes giggle at your reaction when he suddenly pulls you close out of nowhere to kiss you. Even infront of his members he would not hesitate to kiss you. Because its normal when you are in a relationship.

Kogyeol/ Minsoo: He would be on the awkward side and the shy side. Maybe to the point where you have to indicate the kiss. You would sit on his lap and would go through his hair. He would be looking up to you and enjoy your little touches. Then you lean down and kiss him softly. In the kiss you would take one of his hands and place it on your hips. One of your own hands would still be in his hair and the other one on his shoulder. The kiss would stay slow but sweet. After the kiss he would wrap his arm around you and hide his face in your shirt.

Wei/ SungJun: He would be on the passionate but smiley side. You would be laying next to each other and look into each others eyes for a long time just enjoying the time being you two only. He would lay an arm around you and pull you closer, you would lazily lay one arm around his torso to be as close as possible. You would burry your face in his tshirt or bare chest,depending on his prefered chilling style. He would say your name softly and as you look up to him he smiles softly and places one of his hands on your cheeks. He kisses you deeply and sweet. Your eyes would be closed as you enjoy every moment.

Bitto/ Changhyun: It would be noisy. He would giggle or quietly scream afterwards because you would be too cute and blush. Because while you two kiss Bittos hand would be alls over your body. He cant just stay still while kissing. He HAS to touch your Body. He would enjoy sucking a bit on your lip and sometimes he enjoyes short kisses but then like a lot of them. Whenn he would go to practice he would kiss you, when he comes back he would kiss you. I see him quite enjoying kissing you because he thinks your lips are addictive.

Wooshin: This boy is a little hard. It seems that he doesnt really enjoy skinship but with his girlfriend it could be a lot different or similiar. When he would be different i can see him caressing the back of your hand and just looking at you quietly with the cute little smile he has. He would first kiss your hand and then your forehead. I see him as protective. You would close your eyes while he kisses your forehead. He would look at you afterwards softly smilng to himself. He would lean in and kiss you. It would be a sweet short kiss. When he doesnt like skinship at all he would just hold you at your hips while kissing you.

Sunyoul:This is boy is touchy af. So i would see him pulling you on his lap and hugging you tightly. He would first kiss your neck for a little bit and would go higher with every kiss he places on your skin. Reching your mouth he would stop for a short time looking you in the eyes and smiling softly. He would place one of his hands at your neck to pull you a little closer. A few milimetres from your lips he would ask you if you want to kiss him. He is a tease. You would say yes and after a few moments what would feel like a enternity he would finally kiss your lips. Moving his lips against yours.

Gyujin:He would be a little bit dorky. Like you two would play some games together and he would try to make you laugh with his face and inn generell with him? Suddenly you are trying to tease him like throwing kisses and sitting bend a bit forward to he would have a good look at your neckline. He would quirk an eyebrow and would ask you what you want. You would just shrug your shoulders as he gets up and graps your shoulders to pull you up from your chair you were sitting on. He would smirk at you and kiss you passionatly. Holding you close.

Hwanhee: Hwanhee uses every opportunity to kiss you. You want something from him? just for a kiss. You will pass him? Just for a kiss. Often he bets that you cant do something really hilarious but you still try and lose. He gets a kiss and even if you manage to do it he will kiss you as a reward for doing good. He would love to give you little pecks randomly. If he wins in something against his members he would want a kiss. If he looses he would want one. So prepare for a lot f little playful pecks.

Xiao: This boy is not a cute little boy anymmore. He became a man. And i see him as a men in such as kissing or being in a relationship even if it would be his first relationship. He would be quite confident about kissing is significant other. He would pull you close at your hips and place one hand on your lower back or even lower. He would just go for it, kissing you passionatly. He would sometime likes to bite your lip like Kuhn. He would be king of savage afterwards. Drabble UP10TION Kuhn x Reader 1087 words Series: How UP10TION would kiss you.

“You’re still in bed?” Kuhn yelled, slamming your bedroom door behind him. “Y/n! It’s been over 24 hours!” You just ignored him and turned under your blanket, rolling onto your stomach as you dragged a pillow over your head and clamped it down over your ears.

“Get up!” Kuhn stomped over to the edge of the bed and stood glaring down at you, hands on his hips. Kuhn pursed his lips suddenly. He could only see part of you mixed up amongst your blanket, but what he could see were your legs, bare until your shorts, and your shirt which was raised up your stomach having being twisted by all your wiggling. He cleared his throat suddenly and looked away.

“Go away,” You murmured, hunching your shoulders to try and block out the deep rumble of Kuhn’s voice. You heard him walk across your laminated floor and, a second later, heard the rattle as your curtains were yanked open. Even though your face was firmly buried, you let out a long groan and scrunched up your eyes to keep the sun from reaching you. “I’m happy in my hole, leave me alone.”

“I know you’re celebrating finishing your last exam, but there are other ways to do it!” Kuhn threw up his hands. For how much he was telling you off, he hadn’t stopped smiling since he had walked into your room. He kept looking around at your shelves and the little trinkets dotted everywhere. There were pencils and paint brushes on your desk, what looked like twenty notebooks stacked on the floor and sweaters and skirts scattered over every available surface.

“What could be better than lying in bed?” You asked, disbelief clear in your tone. You popped your head up quickly and looked round to Kuhn, squinting at him around the sunlight. As soon as you looked at him, Kuhn forced the smile off his face, not wanting to encourage your behaviour.

“Your hair looks like a birds nest,” He stated quickly, raising a brow at you as if he expected you to suddenly leap out of bed to fix it.

You shrugged, head slumping back onto your pillow.

“It’s my style.”

Kuhn snorted loudly and you turned to laugh quietly into your pillow. Given that you were half asleep, you were super proud of your joke.

“Right, come on,” Kuhn clapped his hands and started forwards. “We’re gonna get you a shower and then go and get some lunch,” Kuhn walked straight up to the edge of your bed and reached down to shake your mattress.

“Go away,” You repeated, grabbing your blanket and throwing it over your head to hide yourself.

“That’s it!” With a yell, Kuhn leapt onto your bed. He grabbed the blanket and pulled it away from you. Not expecting his attack, your grasp was weak and your blanket went flying off your bed.

“Get off!” You yelled, reaching up to grab the edge of your mattress. You were not planning on letting Kuhn get his way easily.

“Come on, get up,” Kuhn repeated, grabbing at your ankles. You kicked and squirmed and yelled in protest but he just kept fighting, crawling closer towards you as he grabbed at your calves then higher up at your thighs, trying to get a better grip on a limb that wasn’t flailing. One moment he was on his knees, the next he was half stood up as he tried to avoid your kicking legs.

You brought him down on top of you with a loud roar as you kicked the back of his knee, knocking all the strength out of his stance so that he toppled onto you. You just had the chance to roll onto your back before his full weight smacked against you and you were gasping for breath.

Not letting his chance pass, Kuhn wrapped his arms around your waist and rolled to the side. You were half terrified that he was actually going to just throw you out of your bed so you wrapped your arms around his neck, planning on taking him with you. Stunned by your sudden contact, Kuhn stopped moving and you quickly stilled yourself.

The both of you were covered in a light sheen of sweat, your clothes messed up and your limbs tangled around each other. He was staring at you with wide eyes partly obscured by his dark hair, his rosy lips parted as he breathed heavily. 

“I didn’t know such a small girl could put up such a big fight,” He mumbled, grinning as if he had given you a great compliment.

“Oh, shut up, asshole,” You muttered, rolling your eyes quickly.

“You know…” Kuhn began, squeezing your waist a little bit to make you look at him. “I’m starting to see the positives of lying in bed all day,” He admitted, making you perk your brows.

Kuhn didn’t give you a chance to respond. He leant in slowly, closing the gap between you in only a second, and pressed his lips to yours. His lips moved softly but his whole body was strong and firm beneath you. You were trapped against him but you didn’t mind, not when he was kissing you firmly and holding you with such a gentle touch.

Kuhn pulled back slowly and let out a breathless laugh, licking his lips as he looked up to meet your gaze.

“That was super salty,” You muttered, looking away from him so as to not see his reaction to the furious blush you could feel building on your cheeks.

“I didn’t exactly have time to wipe my lips,” Kuhn muttered, but there was no annoyance in his tone now as he leant forward to press his forehead against your cheek. You tutted softly but didn’t complain, pulling your hands back so that your fingers could tangle lightly in his hair.

“So… do this mean I get to stay in bed a bit longer?” You asked quietly, your fingers grazing down his neck. You felt his body shiver softly and heard him swallow heavily. He didn’t respond for a minute.

“No… you still need to get out of bed,” He finally replied, though this time he sounded less sure about it. His arms tightened around your waist, squeezing you against him for a second before he sighed and rolled away from you. “But I will accept you migrating to the sofa. But only if you brush your hair. And if I get to sit with you. And maybe if we can do more of that kissing...”

Up10tion reaction: hearing their s/o sing for the first time

So... It’s actually 4AM where I live and I’m definitely to tired to proof read this, so please don’t hate me. I will check the reaction tomorrow to see if I need to correct anything. Until then, I hope that you like the reaction. 

Jinhoo: He would smile at you so lovingly. Jinhoo would just stand and look at you for a few seconds, but then make you notice him. He would definitely love if you two just spend time together singing to different songs. 

Kuhn: He would have the most extra reaction out of all of the members. Kuhn would probably lay down on your sofa and just watch you cleaning. When you finally noticed him, he would do just the same face as in the gif, which would send you in a fit of laughter. He would compliment you later on though after you have calmed down.

Kogyeol: He would radiate so much love for you to be honest. When he heard you sing, he would be the fastest to run up to you to hug and compliment you on your singing voice. Kogyeol always loved to hear you talk and now he finally had an excuse to hear more of it, because he an ask you to sing for him. 

Wei: He would just stand in the corner and look/listen to you sing. When you finally noticed him, Wei would just be smiling cutely at you and tell you to continue singing. 

Bit-to: He would be a checky shit and send a video of himself with you in the background singing to the other members to show you off. If you noticed him filming you, then he would definitely ask you if it was alright for him to send the video to the others. But if you didn’t notice then this little would definitely send it to them, just so that he has an excuse to talk about you more. 

Wooshin: I think the first few seconds he would be in shock of actually hearing you sing, since you have always been really shy about it. He would really appreciate it, since you knew that he was coming over and the chance of him finding you singing was pretty high. Wooshin would definitely compliment you on your singing even if it wasn’t the best. Expect him to ask you often to sing for him from now on though. 

Sunyeol: He wouldn’t really know what he should do about hearing you sing. Sunyeol would know that you weren’t 100% confident in your voice, but he honestly thought that your voice was just fine. It wasn’t perfect, but still pleasant to listen too. After a while, he would just go up to you and tell you that your voice was really nice and that he really wanted to hear your voice more often. 

Gyujin: You were listening to music together and normally you would be really quiet while he always sag along to most of the songs. But today, for the first time, he heard you sing to one of your favourite songs. It wasn’t anything big, but for him it meant a lot that you trusted him enough to sing around him. 

Hwanhee: He would be almost the only member, who would just go up behind you and hug you. After that he would just turn up the volume of the music and make both of you sing and dance around the room. This would turn into a normal thing for the both of you over the next few weeks. 

Xiao: When he first heard you sing, he would never stop asking you to sing for him. Whenever you said no to singing for him, then he would try to bribe you with something like kisses, cuddles or a date to that new cafe that you want to go to.

Reaction: Kissing Another Member for a Dare

KIM JINWOOK ▫ JINHOO 

Irritated as he watched you lean over and kiss Xiao, he began to think things and thought maybe you’d leave him now for his friend. He’d be distant for the rest of the night until you told him you would never leave him after a silly kiss.

NO SUL IL ▫ KUHN 

Confused, he wasn’t all familiar with truth or dare so when you got dared to kiss Jinhoo he’d shoot everyone a weird glare as if asking ‘are you for real?’ afterwards he’d pull you into his lap and kiss you repeatedly.  

KO MIN SOO ▫ KOGYEOL 

Mature about it, he knew it was just for a stupid game and wouldn’t get fussy over it. Afterwards you’d apologise and he’d just kiss you softly and tell you he knew how hot he was and that you would never leave him for ‘that.’ 

LEE SUNG JUN ▫ WEI

Pouty, he’d be so upset that he has to watch you kiss Kuhn and be clingy for the rest of the night with you, and end up being the one apologising later for being upset but you forgave him and told him the kiss was just a kiss. 

LEE CHANG HYUN ▫ BIT-TO

Confused at first he would wonder what was happening and why it was, roughly pulling you off Kogyeol and shooting him a confused and angry look while the others bursted out with laughter. You explained to him you guys were playing spin the bottle. 

KIM WOO SEOK ▫ WOOSHIN

Nope. Nup. Nu uh. No. He was not happy with the rules of losing truth or dare since he knew you were going to be the main target of the game. It was simple, you back out of a dare or truth you have the give the asker a kiss. He pulled you out of there and spent the rest of the night with you. 

SEON YE IN ▫ SUNYOUL  

Okay with the situation, you lost a bet so it was only fair. You’d give him a look of ‘why are you encouraging this’ causing him to smirk. As soon as it was over and the others left he would pin you down to the couch and begin leaving purple blossoms, a clue to the night ahead. 

HANG YU JIN ▫ GYUNJIN

Oh boy you’re in trouble as soon as your lips touched Kogyeol’s, he couldn’t bare to watch you and him so he simply locked himself in his room. You shared a confused look with the others, so you went and asked him what’s wrong only to have his dominant side come out. “On your knees now princess.”

LEE HWAN HEE ▫ HWANHEE 

Upset that he had to see that, he’d be confused as to why you would cheat on him only for you to explain later on that it was Gyunjin who came onto you and kissed you. He could feel relief in his chest but he still didn’t hesitate to go after his member and yell at him.

Uhm, he’d be blushy and all red when you pecked Hwanhee’s lips quickly for a stupid dare. He would pull you into his lap after and smother your face in kisses causing you to giggle and swat him away.

A/N: Since you guys liked “How likely is Up10tion to kiss you under the mistletoe” so much I’ve decided to go off on little scenarios for all the members. Hopefully this goes well, even though my writing is shit

Jinhoo’s POV

In the few days leading up to Christmas I always ask Y/N to come over so we can spend time alone and get caught up. Since I’m busy most of the year with work and she’s on campus more often than not, you can see why we don’t get together that often. This year I tend to make it extra special for her since her family isn’t around to celebrate the holidays. As per usual I call Y/N, asking her to come over around dinner time. I try to distract her as much as I can during the holidays, having her over at the dorm is always enjoyable.

“Hey hyung, when is she gonna get her tonight??”

A head of pink hair and puppy eyes pops from around the corner: Xiao, our youngest and somehow least spry member of the group. 

“Yeah, you didn’t tell us when dinner was so that we could all scram.”

Hwanhee: the little spawn of Satan himself, shows up right after Xiao. Wearing a big grin on his face as he slings an arm over the younger, but also somehow taller, boy. I roll my eyes at them as I stand up to check on Kogyeol, Bitto, and Gyujin who are working on dinner for tonight. The kids fall in line behind me, once we get to the kitchen I find that the three have completed more than I had anticipated. Even Xiao and Hwanhee, who have gone to attack the three, are surprised that so much is done.

“Jesus you guys waste no time in the kitchen do you?”

“You really doubt us too much Hwan.”

Bitto rolled his eyes at the younger before shoving a spoon in his mouth, then waits patiently for the response. Hwanhee takes a second to realize that it was soup then nods his head in excitement, saying that it tastes good and how Y/N will love it. I sometimes forget how strange they can be and other times it’s something I can never forget. Soon Xiao is tugging at Kogyeol’s arm to ask him a question, which none of us hear, then runs off with Hwanhee to God who knows where.

“Hey, don’t bother anyone and don’t break anything please!”

“No promises hyung!”

They run down the hall after my warning, I know they won’t remember it at all. With a sigh I sit down at the counter and watch the three cook peacefully. Gyujin is the first to respond to my out of the blue sigh, and clearly, he’s not going to let it go without an answer. The others continue their work but listen intently as they do so, it’s the way their ears slightly twitch that tells me they’re paying attention.

“What’s wrong? Are you rethinking things with Y/N?”

“No Gyujin, it’s not that.”

“Well then…”

Gyujin glanced around the room, from Kogyeol to Bitto then to me, and still was debating if he should say what he wanted to.

“Are you worried about what we’ll do after dinner?”

“I just feel bad for asking so much of you guys and then… telling you all to leave right after.”

Kogyeol put down the knife he brandished to cut the garlic and gave me a rather serious gaze. Now, he’s not known for his speeches but when he gives them they often help a lot more than people think.

“Jinhoo, if we thought you were being rude or asking too much we would have flat out said no to you. Stop worrying about us because we’ll be fine. Worry about Y/N and the kiss under the mistletoe that happens on Christmas Eve, which is today by the way.”

He swiftly turned around and went back to cutting garlic while Gyujin brought his attention back to the soup. Bitto nodded his head in agreement but then, he paused midway through grabbing the rice cooker to look at me. I gazed at him quizzically since I wasn’t sure why he was acting like this.

“You know hyung, she’s more important right now. Tomorrow you can be our overly worried but loving leader.”

Without another word, from any of them, they went back into their world of food and preparation for tonight. To be honest, they all have a point: I should be more worried about Y/N tonight rather than them. However, they’re my best friends and I don’t want to dismiss their feelings. I decided that it was better for me to get things ready for Y/N and I, rather than go around worrying about everyone. Quickly, I made my way to our storage closet to grab the mistletoe so that I could hang it. Kogyeol is always right about when things happen, which doesn’t always make sense itself.

Two hours later Y/N gets to our dorm and Kuhn answers it, pulling her in for a hug. I watch from the hallway, waiting until everyone has greeted her so that I could be the last one. As I watched the interactions I was interrupted by a hand being placed on my shoulder. From the finger length, to the weight, I knew it was Wooshin who stood next to me. Out of the corner of my eye I could see a small smile on his face, probably partly out of seeing my worried facial expression and partly because he was happy to see Y/N.

“Tonight, you aren’t our leader; there is no giant stage, it’s just us: a family.”

His hand left my shoulder and the next thing I knew he was greeting Y/N with a giant smile, ruffling her hair gently. I saw her eyes glow with happiness then I heard her laugh; the thing that never failed to make my heart skip a beat. She’s a wonderful person and more importantly a wonderful influence in our lives. Before I know it, she’s asking all the guys one question.

“Where’s Jinhoo?”

I quickly walk to the entry, but before I can even so much as wave hello Y/N throws herself on me. We fall to the floor, me more so in pain while she’s having the time of her life as she laughs at my surprised expression. She stands up quickly then pulls me to my feet as well and only then does she hug me properly. Wei and Kogyeol stand next to each other snickering in the corner. Luckily, I don’t have to glare at them since Y/N beat me to the punch and the two of them shut up immediately.

“Okay, let’s have dinner so we can let these guys have their time together.”

Kuhn states bluntly, but with a kind of eagerness in his voice as he gently pushes everyone to the table. I didn’t honestly think he’d be trying to help me kick himself out but I guess he and the others have things to do. More likely; he and Kogyeol have some things to do while everyone else goes off on their own adventures. Dear lord I hope they don’t burn down the city because I really don’t know how I would pay for that. I also don’t know how I would explain that to our manager once it came to fruition.

They guys wasted no time in eating, before I knew it everyone had exited the dorm in five minutes flat. That left Y/N and I to our own activities for the evening, which I couldn’t be more excited for. Earlier I had Kogyeol hang some mistletoe around the dorm, specifically in places I knew she and I would be. I grabbed her plate along with mine and brought our dishes to the kitchen, which had been cleaned within the rush to get out. Seeing the kitchen left in such a state is really odd for us, seeing as how we either never use it or we leave everything out.

Y/N come up behind me then leaned against the wall to the entry of the kitchen and watched me clean for a bit. A peaceful silence filled the air between us as I cleaned, only the sound of running water could be heard. I finished after half an hour, turned around, and found her standing in the same place still but looking down at her phone. Whenever she’s focused on something her eyes soften while her body stiffens. That’s how she stood in front of me before I brought her back to reality with a kiss on the head. Y/N smiled up at me then her gaze went just a little higher than my eyes.

“Oh… Jinhoo…”

Glancing up above us, I noticed the small branch of mistletoe hanging from the ceiling: Kogyeol. Even though I had told him to put it in a place that we would be together, I never would have thought he’d put one in the kitchen entry. I looked back at Y/N to see her reaction and to no surprise she was blushing a light shade of pink. She looked really cute in that moment but some part of me wanted to wait for her consent before I moved a muscle. Sensing my hesitance, she stepped a bit closer to me, her eyes still moving up toward the hanging branch above us.

“Mistletoe.”

“Would you mind?”

“Not at all.”

I wrapped my arms around her, gently pulling her closer to my body and suddenly I felt as though the world around us had disappeared. Y/N kept her eyes just below my gaze, she was getting shy, which surprised me since we’ve kissed so many times before. I lifted her head up to see her eyes as they glowed in the low lighting. Without much thought, I brought our lips together and closed my eyes; it was soft, delicate, and passionate, just like her. I breathed in her scent as we stood there, faint traces of lilac hung in the air.

I felt her hands creep up my chest with an undertone of the utmost shyness she’s ever expressed around me. Pressing her closer to me I felt her breath hitch in her throat for a moment before relaxing in my arms once again. While I couldn’t see her, I knew she still had her eyes wide open so I did the one thing that I knew would get them to shut. I kept up the pace my lips moved at, slow and deep, then brushed my tongue over her bottom lip. That did it; her eyes closed instantly, I knew she was getting more relaxed in our current position.

A one point a small, maybe, moan escaped her throat as I continued to run my tongue over her lip. That let me know I could go a little further with her so I slipped it in her mouth and instantly hers came to greet mine. Initially her touch was gentle, even if we had done this plenty of times before she was still nervous. With that in mind I brought a hand to her cheek, tilting her head more so she could have better access; I let her take control of our mouths. She never fails to surprise me with her kisses: loving but slightly needy after a good fifteen minutes.

Our tongues fought against each other, somewhere in us we knew this was a battle for whatever happened next. Y/N did something in that moment, something that I never thought she would ever do with me. Her lips pulled away from mine just enough that I could feel the very tips of them before she grabbed my bottom lip with her teeth and pushed me against the wall. I heard her chuckle as my eyes shot open from the sudden impact of the wall and her sudden burst of confidence, though I have to say I rather enjoy her this way.

“I think you’ve teased me enough Y/N, why don’t I return the favor?”

I quickly took her hand in mine and brought her to my bedroom; the evening wouldn’t be ending anytime soon.

In the middle of a lecture, growing bored you decided to just draw a heart in the back of his hand, he was holding a book and following the lecture so it was actually difficult finding a way to draw but then when he felt the pen in his skin he squealed a bit, getting really ticklish, I think he'd try to be quiet but he'd let out some giggles from time to time until you finished and then he stared at the back of his hand and smiled. -Ah, if I draw one in your hand as well... We'd have matching doodles!-

I think he'd definitely take a photo with it! Like, for real, in the middle of math class you suddenly drew a heart in his palm and he loved it, like he thought it was the best drawing of a heart he had seen ever and he'd instantly take out his phone -I need a memoir of this!- but... he had the flash on so the teacher took him out of the class... Still worth it tho. After getting out I think he’d be the type to think deeply about it too, considering the possibilities that you liked him too but would be too shy to actually ask if it had the meaning he thought it had.

Hwanhee

This can go two ways, either he gets really blushy and overthinks a lot about the draw and lets you continue to fill his arm OR he would still overthink but would take out a notebook so you could continue drawing, not that he didn't like your closeness (cuz god, he actually loved it) but he was scared of what his mom would tell him when he came back filled with drawings in his arm lmfao. Either way, I think he'd definitely try and leave you little hints in your arms/on a notebook too about his crush on you and would probably become a habit between the two of you.

Xiao

Be ready for another one that'd fill your arms too with drawings! You both were dozing off in the middle of literature so trying not to get lectured you tried to stay awake by drawing on his arm when suddenly he took your free arm and pulled it closer -Let's see who can draw more hearts in a minute!- about the meaning, I think he'd try to not to think deeply about it, scared that he may overthink things and get useless hope on you actually liking him, but he'd still check out your actions, even more, to see if there's any sign his feelings can be returned.

Wooshin

In the middle of a humanistic class, you got bored of hearing the same things so you suddenly took his arm and drew a cute little heart in one of his fingers but he was really quiet and so you decided to look back and he was just serious and not saying anything which made you think he was maybe mad because you just suddenly did so but then he spoke -What about my other fingers? They want a heart too- he pouted cutely and you had to laugh at that. He'd definitely love the feeling of your hand resting on top of his arm to draw, he won't probably question the hearts or even think deeply about it tbh.

K-Con Australia, 20170922-23

The first Australian K-Con was held over the last two nights in Sydney, and @proteinscollide​ and I were there. I'm very behind on everything else as a result! I need to watch Knowing Bros! ANYWAY, short version: IT WAS SUPER FUN. Lots of rambling under the cut as usual.

22 September: SF9, Pentagon, Victon, Girl's Day, Exo

23 September: SF9 (again!), Up10tion, Cosmic Girls/WJSN, Wanna One, Monsta X

Overall this was an extremely well produced show and a really fun show - I had such a good time! Okay, the "convention" part not so much (I'll talk about this a bit at the end of the post) but at both evening shows, the concert ran like a slick machine, stage following stage with no pause, good sound and no technical hitches. Visually the show looked great, with massive screens giving good views of every performer as well as fantastically atmospheric backdrops.

It didn't sell out on either night, and again I'll talk about possible reasons for that more later, but as a vehicle for hallyu and for promoting Korean culture this is potentially such a powerful instrument. One of the most striking K-Con images for me is the footage of K-Con Paris from 2016 - the pan from the section of the crowd for the French dignitaries and delegates, all politely seated and clapping, to the massive auditorium of French youth going absolutely wild for these pop groups from the other side of the world. This show didn't have that element of official endorsement, it was much more a straight-up pop show, but hey you never know, that might come…

Soft power has its limits, for sure, but within those boundaries Korea is working so very hard at being the very best it can be. I admire the gumption, and more importantly to Korea I am happily consuming the product! Give me more product! I'm here for this!

As far as line-up goes, this K-Con wasn't the best. Exo are absolute stars of course and there were other notable groups like Monsta X and Girl's Day; on balance however this was a really rookie-heavy sausage-fest. The prevalence of rookies is probably partly bad timing - the show coincided with the DMC Music Festival (which was eventually cancelled anyway due to labour disputes, argh, we could've had it all!).

But the boy-heavy line-up? Frustrating. Apparently WJSN and Girl's Day are the first girl groups to perform here since 4 Minute some three-four years ago. WHY? Perhaps there's a perception that since Western fans are mostly girls then they'll only turn out for boybands - I know in Korea the audience for girlgroups is skewed towards boys. However, here in the West, pop as a whole is coded so heavily female that I'm sure wouldn't be a problem. I've been to many Western female pop star concerts and trust me, the girls SHOWED UP. Hell, at this very same arena, Little Mix are performing later this year. Besides, this argument falls flat if you look at other K-Con line-ups which, although boy-heavy, still manage more than a measly 2 girl groups. Gosh I'd have been so happy with the addition of any ONE of Red Velvet, Mamamoo, Blackpink, Pristin, Gfriend, Twice, etc…

...that was a long intro. Let's talk the show.

Chanyeol (EXO)

Night 1

The first night of K-Con began with a pre-show of kpop dance cover groups (they were all good but some were REALLY GOOD) and Kevin from U-KISS as MC (did u know he looks like Lee Pace around the eyes?), doing his cheesy best to hype up the crowd and also promote the con's primary sponsor.

Then the show got started with a VCR, featuring Monsta X's Minhyuk in a sort of spaceship-themed narrative? I don't know what I saw but apparently K-Con's first Oceanic showing needed heroes or defenders or something, i.e. kpop groups? Whatever cool. I do know it involved Minhyuk looking at a picture of a kangaroo so we're all good.

Also apparently Sydney is the city of "arts and culture" and also "romance"? I'm flattered on behalf of my home, and I can assure you we have plenty of all three, but really?? Those are not, like, the first words I associate with Sydney. But ok, you do you K-Con!

Exo's Suho and Sehun then came on as the night's special MCs to deliver a brief introduction and be cute together and make the crowd scream. Naturally, there were Exo jerseys and banners and lightsticks all over the place; earlier in the day I got handed a cute banner to celebrate Chen's birthday, which I then promptly used to test proteinscollide's knowledge of Exo band names. (She improved greatly through the evening!)

First group up were rookie boyband SF9 - I've enjoyed their songs and MVs without knowing much about them. This rapidfire 3 song performance made me more of a fan! They just hit all their beats really well, both in terms of performance and in their brief introduction ment, advantaged by one member who was a fluent English speaker. Their line distribution is kind of weird - there's maybe three members who dominate the vocals and the dancing, especially Taeyang who I kept thinking of as "that one guy who looks like Shinee's Jonghyun" - but not enough to detract overall. I have no favourite but maybe my favourite is the rapper with currently red hair who reminds me of SVT Jeonghan and Pentagon's E'Dawn.

Something like K-Con is the perfect platform for a rookie group to get this kind of exposure. My own first exposure to kpop (aka the reason for my eternal downfall) was winning free tickets to a Boyfriend & JJCC show - I knew nothing about them, knew next to nothing about kpop, and JJCC were a hot mess sorry - but seeing the groups in person and live was enough to make me want to know so much more. I feel like this SF9 set functioned in much the same way. It was SO much more impactful than just an MV or a youtube clip or a gifset. This is how fans are made! (That said… I'll get to it, but SF9 got two bites at the cherry. Why?)

Next up were Pentagon and their brief set was great. Their songs are such bangers - I SAID BANGERS, DON'T AT ME - and they were really polished and powerful. Kino's opening dance solo was super charismatic, and E'Dawn (aka the only one I can consistently recognise) was working that jawline of his so well, lol. He does the bad boy thing very well! I admire it! For their ment, they played the "Pinata" game as seen at other K-Cons this year, i.e. a random game was selected. (Would the game be 'Propose'? It was not propose, but one member did get down on one knee to E'Dawn anyway, good job good fanservice.) In this case it was a random dance play, and it was very amusing and silly.

Probably my favourite thing about Pengaton is how far and fast proteinscollide has fallen for them. Can you believe at this time last year she didn't even know all the MX member names? Now the student has exceeded the master! Post your Pentagon post bro!

Sehun and Suho came back to introduce a special stage: Exo's Chanyeol in duet with WJSN's Seola, for his OST track Stay with Me. This was a nice, pretty interlude and a bit of a breather after the fast pacing of the first two sets.

Seola (WJSN)

Third rookie group Victon bopped cutely to a very Australian-themed video backdrop and they were very entertaining, without necessarily making me want to seek them out further. I think that's more to do with their concept being more cute than Pentagon and SF9's, so less appealing to me on those grounds. But they have their charms and most importantly one had a mullet! I'm HERE for the mullets, don't even think I'm joking.

Next up were Girl's Day. They're down to 4 members now but their experience and their casual confidence made them so enjoyable to watch. They played their hits including Something, Expectation and Ring My Bell with such a sense of fun and sexiness, dominating the stage and playing to the crowd with the relaxed ease of vets who have nothing to prove. There was a hunger to the rookies that gave them more edge but sometimes you just wanna watch really talented ppl relaxedly doing their very talented thing.

With everyone acutely aware there was only one act left to take the stage, a couple of SF9s came out to MC a special stage. They did the usual "how are you guys enjoying the show" and "we love Australia" and all that jazz, and then made the fatal mistake of asking an open-ended question:

SF9 MCs: so who is Australia's favourite boy group? Crowd: BTS!!! MCs: Yes, Exo!!! #awkward

I lol'd! I am sorry! Bless you Exo but c'mon!

This was followed by a brief VCR of Australian fans naming their favourite boybands, and then a really fun special stage of boyband covers:  Pentagon covered GOT7's Hard Carry;  SF9 covered Exo's Monster; and Victon did BTS's Fire.

At last it was time for EXO - MUCH CHEERING FROM CROWD!  Exo-Ls were out in force. There were also tons of lightsticks in the crowd and everyone was hyyyyped.

Now some context for my reaction: I can name all the Exo's and I like some of their songs, but I don't quite click with their aesthetic/dynamic in the way that I do with BTS, etc. They were also at something of a disadvantage, with D.O absent from the line-up (I had to count them twice to make sure sob) and Lay MIA from this entire comeback (though I guess that's no longer surprising).

So let that be the background for me saying that I was totally entertained and impressed by their set. Starting with Power and ending with Ko Ko Bop, they came out and gave a great show. They are after all professionally charming and who was I to resist?

For me again it's that idea of a live show being so much more powerful than a video, even for something as preplanned and artificially constructed as pop. A concert is such a powerful reminder that it's more than the performer, and it's more than the audience too - it's about the relationship between the two, that alchemy of atmosphere and act that you only get in that specific environment.

Yes, Kai was deadly with his fucking winks and seductive looks (how dare you sir), but the way the audience reacted to his performance is what made the show go off. Xiumin aka Cat Pirate was also a scene stealer for me, and it was very darling when Chanyeol threw confetti at his head at the end awwww.

(I just wish, like, SM were less SM-y. I got a message from proteinscollide after the show - "Girl walking thru car park: shout out to SM who never give reasons for why members aren't there and if they're ok". Um, yep. I had to check on twitter to find out that D.O was off filming a movie.)

Ending stage was as usual with everyone coming out as tons of confetti rained down. I think a SF9 hugged a Victon? AWWW FRIENDS. A good night.

Night 2

We started again with dance cover groups - colour me EXTREMELY impressed by IME Dance Studio - and Kevin from U-KISS giving away a prize to whoever in the crowd did their best impression of their favourite thing to do in a hotel room. This led to a really hilarious scenario as the cameras zoomed in on 2 girls "dancing" together. "Yes, they're dancing!" Kevin said, "of course they're dancing!" Everyone just cracked the fuck up, Kevin included. They got the prize, bless them, which was - ofc - a free hotel stay!

The show started with the same VCR as the day before and then I was EMOTIONALLY DESTROYED by Monsta X's Jooheon and Shownu taking the stage together to drop an absolutely fire performance. Jooheon's duality is amazing - cuddly scaredy-cat off stage, fucking monster on stage - he was SO GOOD. Shownu's dance break was great as expected and I cried tears in my heart bc I love them.

SF9 returned for the second evening - again, they were slick and impressive, and they namedropped kangaroos and meat pies in their intro ment, good work on ticking off those keywords lol. But I really don't know why they got sets on both days? Did FNC decide they really wanted to build that fanbase and made the necessary commercial arrangement with the promotors? Like I said, stages like this can be real turning points in making a fan. So that's fascinating. If anyone knows, lemme know?

Daehwi (Wanna One)

Three Wanna Ones then took the stage to briefly MC. It was definitely Kang Daniel and uh, two other Wanna Ones! *hastily googles* It was Daehwi, who was the most fluent in English and was super cute & cheesy, and Minhyun, who was also cute but I don't remember much? Sorry team. The only Broduce bro I can 100% identify is Daniel, and sometimes Jaewhan. But! I think I'll remember Daehwi from now on - he was pretty memorable and did the most heavy lifting in the ments. Anyway they delivered some potted intros and then on to the next one.

WJSN then performed a special stage, covering two Kylie Minogue songs as two subunits - Locomotion (which I note came out in 1988, older than every single K-Con performer except for Sojin of Girl's Day) and I Can't Get You Out Of My Head (2001 - there are rookies debuting born in 2001! And younger! God i'm so old). Firstly much love for preparing a special stage with local appeal that didn't feel pandering and really spoke to the long history of amazing women in pop, and secondly THEY WERE SO GOOD. Fun, bright, poppy - I love them.

They were followed by Up10tion who did a high energy set and I remember why I liked them! They're good! I don't quite click with all their songs, especially their more recent ones which I feel are a bit hit and miss, but just like every other group in this K-Con they delivered their set with professionalism and skill and charm.

There was then a brief interlude with MX's Kihyun and I.M, MY TWO LOVES, MCing an audience dance game. We got to see Kihyun doing the Twice TT dance and my world was made. Gosh I love them.

WJSN

WJSN then came back for their set and I just really like them so much. They have that sleekness that I've come to associate with Starship because of them and MX, with both groups always having good choreo and catchy hooks. I like their concept a lot too - they're cute sassy cheerleaders, yes, but I also feel like there's this very cool edge to them, they could easily cut you! I love that! As they acknowledged in their ment, 2 members couldn't make it due to filming schedules (I think it was Cheng Xiao, the dancey/gymnastic one? And Mei Qi, possibly? I'm sorry, I don't remember) but they were still very good and I enjoyed their set a lot. And their main rapper - god, I'm sorry, I don't know if it was Bona or another member - she was SO GOOD? She had so much stage presence. Gosh. I need to find out her name.

Next up were Wanna One. Now, ofc, Produce 101 never officially aired in Australia. We had to watch it on the internet like a bunch of animals. And yet out of all the groups on both days, their fans were definitely the most intense and the most scream-y - yes, more intense than the Exo-Ls and the Monbebes!

I only ever saw snippets of P101 and as I said I can only ID Daniel with certainty, but I was, hmm, not surprised I guess that they turned out to be endearing? CAN U IMAGINE, a group of young men voted for according to their charms turns out to be extremely charming?! The shock!  (From a purely commercial standpoint, what a brilliant exercise this has turned out to be. I think the limited timeframe for Wanna One to make bank lends an edge of urgency to their fandom and means their machine is also geared to maximum efficiency. Make! Bank! Now!) And because they're young and new, there was a certain edge of rawness and spontaneity to them which is naturally part of their appeal too. I still don't quite know what I feel about Kang Daniel - like I know he's very fond of cats and therefore a good person, and he has this easy, cocky stage charisma which makes his appeal seem very straightforward. For their Pinata game, they did photo time with hyung line posing "cutely" and maknae line posing "sexily" followed by some kind of free for all - A HOT MESS, lol.

Daehwi also went off script - or at least, he said he went off script, but can you ever really know? We need to go deeper! - and wished happy birthday to Kuanlin, getting the whole audience to sing along too, awww. As I said: what a group of charming young men; the self-awareness that they were constructed to charm ultimately means nothing.

FINALLY MONSTA X. They're, like, my second favourite group after BTS so I think I would've been just fine if they'd shown up and waved at us and sang like a song or two. But they didn't! They were really, really good. As headliners they had a signficant chunk of time and I think I was smiling from start to end, non stop.

They've turned into such good performers - with something similar to that same easy confidence that Girl's Day and Exo had - and I felt like they really did the most, on the second night, with connecting to the audience. Their performances were all on point, and everyone of them looked and sounded great but Jooheon especially killed me with swag and Wonho's collar & cleavage can fuck right off, ISTG. It just made me so happy to see them doing these songs and choreo I love so much - Shine Forever and Beautiful and Fighter - and they ended with Hero, my very first MX song, which was amazing. (I am a little sad they skipped All In but ok I can live with it.)

For their ment, they played the proposal game, with three members doing their very best fanservice lol. A very happy woman in the standing area got to be audience surrogate as I.M laid on cheesy lines (something about angels and heaven, IDK, why is he like this and why do I love him so much), Kihyun sang a ballad to her (next to me proteinscollide died a death), and Wonho came down to the barrier to to give her a heart, selfie & cheek kiss. It was so! Cheesy! And Wonderful! #the selfawareness does nothing

Everyone then came out for the goodbye, though MX were the only ones who felt relaxed enough it seems to actually get silly with the confetti and do some more spontaneous bows & waves to the crowd. By comparison to every other group on the 2nd night, they must be the old hands at K-Con by now - they've done SO many. Gosh I hope they come back to Australia for a full show. I love them so much.

Fuck, I'm now at 3300 words so let's wrap this up quick:

Unlike other K-Cons which seem to have a proper programming and convention stream, the "convention" part of this was really a disappointment. Minimal programming, minimal stalls (less than 10 vendors), all in one room. It was free entry which is fine I guess except that people were queuing up forever to get inside due to the limited capacity and it was H O T (over 30 C each day) out there. In the end I queued for an hour, and spent about 15 minutes inside. It was really not worth it. Luckily proteinscollide & I had options and just went away for a few hours to pass the time before the show, but I imagine there were a lot of kids left hanging around Olympic Park all day with nothing to do.

The shows didn't sell out. What does this mean? Possible thoughts:

-It was really expensive and the audience skews young. Like, the premium tickets were REALLY REALLY expensive and good tix were expensive. I could afford decent tix, but if I were in my teens? No way. I'd have had to ask my parents for it.

-Sydney has had a run of shows including an Australian-exclusive BTS show. If you're interstate and you already spent $$$ going to BTS, or for that matter $$$ to go G-Dragon in your own state, how much money do you have left over for concerts in this year? There is a limited capacity for this audience to keep spending. Promoters should be careful not to spread us too thin. Put more shows on in Melbourne! (Though I don't know - are there more Koreans and east Asians in Sydney? I suspect there are. The audience, again, skews heavily to those of us who are Asian-Australian.)

-Exo, MX, and Wanna One are very popular but don't have the same mainstream reach in Australia as BTS. BTS also had the advantage again of being earlier in the year, only the 2nd major kpop tour in the year I believe. Since then there's been other kpop and khip-hop shows for people to spend their money on. I really thought Exo would give BTS a run tho, given how well their latest album performed on Australian iTunes charts.
