5 Things you can do now you’re a graduate!
1. Join our Alumni Family
You may be leaving UoB, but UoB never leaves you!

2. Embrace the Working World
It will be challenging, but here’s your chance to relish the opportunity - you’ll learn so much.
Remember everything you did during your time at Birmingham, your degree, sport and society activity and part time work all stand you in great stead for your first job!
Did you know that for a year once you have graduated you can access Careers Network services for advice and assistance?
If you’re needing assistance with your CV, would like to prep for interviews or access the CN vacancy database you can!

3. Go in Search of Adventure
If you’re not sure of your next steps, or you are taking a break - that’s okay!
There is no ‘right way’ to graduate.
Now is the time to try something new, take risks and explore! Carry on studying, do some volunteering abroad or travel the world.
It is true, you’re only young once and there is so much out there.
No doubt you will meet other UoB alumni along the way!

4. Dare to Walk Under Old Joe
It’s official. You’re a graduate! Are you brave enough to stroll under Old Joe now?
Superstitions claim that walking under Old Joe as he chimes can risk you failing your degree, and students avoid it at all costs.
Is it worth risking now you’re safely through the other-side and the proud owner of a degree?
Many students opt for a graduate selfie with Old Joe instead - share yours with us on #UoBgraduation

5. Keep in Touch!
We love hearing from our recent graduates and alumni reminiscing about your time at Birmingham, sharing photos when you’re back visiting or letting us know your next steps.
Whether you’re starting a new job, moving to a new city or heading off travelling, share your summer adventures with us using #uobsummer.

Wherever life takes you next, we wish you the very best with everything you do. Welcome to the alumni family. You’re now a graduate of the University of Birmingham, and that is a fantastic achievement!

Wohoo! Spent half of my decade in two different countries to get this degree. Now I am officially graduated with Master of Engineering (E&E). Massive thanks to my parents and siblings for supporting me through out my journey.
