He’s definitely mad
Masterlist
Summary // it’s your best friends birthday and you decide to celebrate it in the club. Five isn’t a fan of this idea.
//
“Nice dress” Five says, looking you up and down, trying not to show his irritation at the situation. “Thanks Five” you smile, fixing your dress lightly and checking your bag. Keys, phone, purse, lipstick. All there. Letting out a light sigh you give Five one last smile, not noticing him staring, before heading for the door. Ready for a drink.
Bright lights flash in your face, momentarily lighting up the packed dance floor. The birthday girl hands you the 4th shot in the 10 minutes you’ve been there, you chuckle lightly, turning to your friend “again?” The exhaustion evident in your voice. She gives you a bright smile “it’s my birthday, no excuses!” You roll your eyes at the comment, she’s right but that doesn’t mean you can stomach another.
“Come on, let’s dance” you chirp, grabbing your friend by the arm and taking her to the dance floor. You let the music take over, swinging your hips left to right with ease, lowering your body as you do. Rising to your feet, you turn, arms swaying above you as the sound of the bass charges through your body. Completely unaware Five is watching you. As the song comes to an end you begin the slow, feeling your heart beating out of your chest as the bass leaves your body. Letting out a light chuckle you open your eyes, meeting Five’s gaze, your smile drops. He’s definitely mad.
You’ve seen Five angry before, plenty of times, but it was never at you. That’s what scared you the most. He starts to walk towards you, refusing to break eye contact, the panic sets in as you force a smile. “Hey Five, what are you doing here?” You ask sheepishly, like a child in trouble, he chuckles “keeping an eye on you” his words are sweet, even if his tone isn’t. “And for good reason, clearly” he adds, looking around the club. Turning to the birthday girl you flash her a sorry look, preparing to go home and listen to one of Five’s many lectures.
To your surprise, Five doesn’t try to take you home, instead heading to the bar for a drink. You watch as he weaves through the crowd before disappearing entirely. You turn back to your friend, throwing your arms up and jumping in excitement, “can baby stay out for longer?” Your friend mocks you, wrapping her arms around you as she does. “Baby can stay out all night” you laugh, watching her squeal with excitement before demanding more shots. Rolling your eyes, you let her drag you back to the bar, smiling to yourself as you go.
“Happy birthday beautiful” you cheer, raising your shot in the air, clinking cups with your best friend before taking the shot with ease, all the vodka you drank suddenly hitting you like a truck. The room begins the spin, your eyes fluttering. Resting your elbows on the bar you put your head in your hands, taking a deep breath and trying to collect yourself. “Are you okay Y/N?” The birthday girl asks, you nod, lifting yourself back up and facing her “all good, let’s dance” you say with a smile, taking her by the hand and heading back to the dance floor.
Five watches you all night, making sure to remove any unwanted male attention.
The night finally comes to an end, the club is closing and the sun is coming up. All you can think about it food as your friend leads you outside, flinching at the bright sun piercing down on you. “Fuck, how long were we in their?” You ask, not really wanting to know the answer, she laughs, shaking her head “I don’t know and I don’t want to know babe” her words slurred but sweet, you chuckle to yourself. “Where should we go now? I think the bar down the streets still open!” Your friend cheered, taking your hand and pulling you down the street, you stop her and remove her hand “no babe, we should go home” you say, yawning soon after, she gives you a sad nod. You know she’s going to stay out but are thankful you get to go home at least.
The birthday girl leads you to a near by taxi, ushering you in before poking her head in the door “you go home, I’m gonna stay out. Love you!” She cooes, shutting the door before you can protest.
Stumbling through the halls of the academy you try to be as quiet as you can, not wanting to wake your siblings. Turning the corner, you almost jump out of your skin, Five’s stood at the other end of the corridor. You freeze, quickly sobering up, unable look at him. “You’re in big trouble princess” Five’s words are harsh, he’s definitely mad. You try to swallow the lump in your throat, already knowing what the punishment is going to be. Was it worth it?

Hiii. Please write something with Billy Russo. Your choice but please some fluff 🙏🏻
Hello Luv, here i go with your request, thanks for sending it my way <3
"Pretty Face Like You"
Billy Russo x Reader
Summary: Billy wait for you to arrive to your usual place, finally deciding to give in to his feelings for you.
Warnings: Alcohol, cuteness
The air is filled with the smell of alcohol, sweat and various perfumes mixed together. All type of people sitting around, noisy truck drivers playing pool, girls in bachelorette uniform shirts giggling every damn time his eyes swift over them, depressed lone wolves lining up at the bar stools. On second thought, he might understand the flirt the ladies give him, he indeed looks like one of those lonely guys, waiting to be snatched up by someone. Couple of months ago, he wouldn't even wait for one of them, he would be at their table, stealing the spotlight for himself. But right now, he's just waiting for you to put your pretty ass down on the chair next to him, and devour him with your presence. He's been glancing at the entrance too many times, expecting you emerging any minute. He acts like you are late, but he arrived early, there is still time before your scheduled time, but he can't help the nervousness that forces his eyes towards that door all the time.
He ordered your drink already, knowing by heart what you'll have, in the meanwhile trying to stay away from his own drink, his fingers playing on the cold bottle to distract his brain. He wants to chug it down to ease his nerves, but he can't be drunk when you arrive. So his sips are subtle, just for the taste really.
He sees the bartender looking at him, pity in her eyes. She surely thinks he's being stoop up. Billy can sense her intentions, but is still slightly taken back by her offer.
"You know, a pretty face like you shouldn't spend the evening alone. I close at 2 if.."
He feels a light breeze next to him, unable to stop the smile creeping up on his lips.
"I'm sorry love, traffic was a pain on my ass." You say sweetly, your hand signaling your arrival on Billy's shoulder, your palm pressing down as you help yourself up to the bar stool. It's a simple act, but nevertheless it makes his heart throb in his throat. Anything that serves you he would give happily and willingly.
His head turns slowly, the playful smile plastered on him, excitement coursing through in his veins. How can someone feel so much at the same time? He is nervous, excited, happy and giddy, scared and terrified. Every fucking emotion is toying with him when he looks at you.
You smile, eyes sparkling with mischief. Oh you think you saved him from the unwanted attention, eyes scanning the bartender. He can see flashing something on your face, a slip of your facade, only for a brief second before you regain your usual soft look.
He swears he can see his future in your eyes. Now the thought not as scary as the first time it happened. And not as cringe. It's a thought belonging in romcoms, not in his head, but that doesn't make it go away, he's no longer opting to remove it either.
"Hey." He gives you a side hug, electricity shocking his skin when your face meets with his. You smell delicious, fresh out of the shower, he thinks. Wearing the perfume he likes so much, now lingering on his own clothes. "Arrived just in time."
"Uh, i'm sure it would have been terrible to be snatched by the pretty blonde for the night." You tease. Billy knows it's your way to find out if you stepped over the line. With his dating habits, you never knew when to interrupt, and when no to. Billy visibly shift of the thought, you seeing him mingle with women he cannot even remember. It's ridiculous honestly. He can't recall the times you have seen him flirting, but he can vividly remember every damn occasion you got male attention.
"Oh, i enjoy the look on her face way more than i would enjoy a night in her bed."
"Uhum, she was utterly baffled." You smile, more to yourself really, putting your glass to your lips. You hide away, behind your casual actions, to prevent him to see the tremble in your hands, or how you rub your palm against you denim jeans. But he sees everything. Nothing goes past him, giving him the feedback he's yearning for. That you are just as smitten with him, as he is with you. He's been looking for the signs, the clues. The ones he ignored or took as a winning when it came to everybody else.
"Let's make the most of it then." Billy just does what his heart tells him to. He grabs your barstool, pulling you with it awfully close. Your eyes widen, and it's the most adorable thing he ever witnessed. You are so clueless and awkward, but it is what he's living for.
"What are you doing William?" You say, merely a whisper, a whisper he's not sure he heard, his focus is on to repress his grow that forms in his throat at the feeling of your body flush against his.
He sees your surprised face under his half lidded eyes, already ecstatic from you. He's not hiding it anymore. The fear of you denying his affection is gone with every little doubt he had. Your sparkly eyes hungrily roams Billy's face, eyes to his pink tainted cheeks, right down to soft lips, tongue darting out, licking his upper lip. You are so caught up in the moment, you forget to hide the awe on your face.
Billy will forever lock this image in his memory, you are bare in front of him, beautifully confused by his actions. In this fragment of time, he knows exactly how a wedding band would look on your finger, and how your kids will inherit that spark from your eyes, and he would never it to say it out loud how much he cares about you. Past William Russo might would have laughed at himself, thinking it's a naive thing, a soft thing to feel this way about someone, but in the midst of his dangerous life, he can see himself find some relief in you.
"Billy," You ask, still shocked, pretty doe eyes looking up at him under dark lashes. He focuses on your lips, ready to take a leap of faith, and trusting his instinct about you reciprocating his feelings.
You just let it happen, frozen to your place, his kiss soft and demanding, giving and taking, a moan of satisfaction bubbles between the two of you when you kiss back. And oh my god he is the happiest man on earth. He wants to stop, but it's hard when you are so sweet and irresistible against his body, the heat growing inside him a like a wildfire.
If you don't break the kiss, he would have continued, not a care in the word who sees you. But you are embarrassed, cheeks flushed crimson red, shifting nervously on your seat. You look around, but all he sees is you. You are at the edge, your brain trying to overcome the awkwardness and the confusion. He gently pulls your chin towards him, a comforting and warm look in his eyes.
"Darling..." He starts, but you interrupt him with a quick peck, unsure but a kiss nevertheless. He smiles brightly, cocky even.
"Oh that look, Russo. Don't make me regret doing that." You say with a regained confidence he knows and loves.
His palms in the air, acting like nothing happened, but the grin is more apparent than ever on his handsome features.
"I don't know what look you are talking 'bout." He murmurs into your skin, causing a tremble in your body, goosebumps decorating your skin. "Can we get out of this place, love?"
All he needs a nod from you, sweeping you up from your seat, leaving the unfinished drinks with lovesick giggles.

Both Edward and Jacob are as bad as each other
The Toxicity of Edward and Jacob as Partners and Parents in Twilight
The Twilight series presents Edward Cullen and Jacob Black as romantic heroes, yet a closer examination of their relationships with Bella Swan and Renesmee Cullen reveals deeply toxic behaviors. Edward is emotionally manipulative and controlling in his relationship with Bella, while Jacob uses emotional blackmail and coercion to assert his influence over her. Additionally, Jacob's imprinting on Renesmee raises serious concerns about future emotional manipulation, and Edward's parental approach to Renesmee reveals a troubling lack of prioritization for her well-being. This essay will explore these dynamics in four sections.
1. Edward and Bella’s Relationship: A Study in Manipulation and Control
Edward Cullen’s relationship with Bella is riddled with emotional manipulation, gaslighting, and control disguised as protection. One of the most blatant examples of this is when he sabotages Bella’s autonomy by removing the battery from her truck to prevent her from visiting Jacob, his romantic rival. Instead of allowing Bella to make her own choices, he enforces his will under the guise of ensuring her safety. Even more disturbing is how he conspires with Alice to keep Bella captive in the Cullen home, preventing her from going to La Push by physically restricting her movement.
Edward’s controlling behavior escalates during Bella’s pregnancy. He views the unborn child as a threat to Bella’s life and takes drastic measures, even attempting to enlist his family’s help in physically restraining her to force an abortion. If not for Rosalie intervening as Bella’s protector, Edward’s plan would have been carried out against Bella’s will. His willingness to override Bella’s agency in major life decisions paints a picture of a deeply toxic partner who prioritizes control over mutual respect.
2. Jacob and Bella’s Relationship: Coercion and Assault
While Jacob Black is often framed as the warm, passionate alternative to Edward, his actions towards Bella reveal a pattern of emotional manipulation and coercion. One of the most disturbing examples occurs when he forces an unwanted kiss on her against her will. Bella, rightfully angry, reacts by punching him, but this incident is ultimately brushed off as playful rather than being addressed as sexual assault. Jacob also uses emotional blackmail to manipulate Bella into kissing him by threatening suicide if she does not comply. This is a classic abusive tactic that pressures the victim into actions they do not want to take, making Jacob’s behavior highly problematic.
Throughout their interactions, Jacob continually disregards Bella’s boundaries, assuming that he knows what’s best for her even when she explicitly tells him otherwise. His entitlement to Bella’s affections and refusal to respect her choices reinforce the idea that love should be about persistence and force rather than consent and mutual respect.
3. Jacob and Renesmee: A Future of Coercion and Manipulation
Jacob’s imprinting on Renesmee introduces another layer of concern. Although Meyer tries to frame imprinting as an innocent and protective bond, Jacob’s past behavior with Bella suggests that he will eventually attempt to push Renesmee into a romantic relationship whether she wants it or not. Just as he coerced Bella into kissing him and continually pressured her emotionally, it is likely that once Renesmee matures, Jacob will use similar tactics to secure her as his romantic partner.
The idea that Renesmee has no true choice in her relationship with Jacob is deeply unsettling. While the narrative suggests that imprinting ensures happiness, in reality, it removes autonomy. If Renesmee were to reject Jacob’s romantic advances in the future, his past actions suggest that he would guilt or pressure her into compliance. This dynamic sets the stage for a highly manipulative and coercive relationship in adulthood.
4. Edward and Renesmee: A Distant and Conditional Love
Edward’s relationship with Renesmee is flawed from the start. Initially, he views her as a threat to Bella and does not develop affection for her until he realizes that she is not intentionally harming her mother. This means that his love for his daughter is conditional—he only accepts her once he sees that she aligns with his desires.
Furthermore, Edward continuously places Bella above Renesmee in importance. This is painfully evident in a moment when Renesmee, feeling self-conscious about her lack of a vampire-like sparkle, seeks reassurance from her mother. Bella lovingly tells Renesmee that she is still the most beautiful in her eyes, but Edward interjects, stating that he cannot agree. While the statement is left open-ended, it heavily implies that Edward sees Bella as more beautiful than their daughter. This remark, made in front of a child already experiencing insecurity, is both insensitive and damaging to Renesmee’s self-esteem. A good parent prioritizes their child’s emotional well-being, yet Edward’s comment reinforces Renesmee’s feelings of inadequacy rather than comforting her.
Conclusion
Both Edward Cullen and Jacob Black exhibit deeply toxic behaviors as partners and parental figures. Edward’s relationship with Bella is characterized by manipulation, control, and a disregard for her autonomy, while Jacob uses coercion and emotional blackmail to influence her decisions. Jacob’s imprinting on Renesmee suggests that he will continue his manipulative patterns in a future relationship with her, and Edward’s parental approach places Renesmee in a secondary position to Bella, damaging her self-worth. These elements highlight the problematic nature of their characters and challenge the romanticized portrayals that Twilight attempts to present.

What Is The Main Ingredient of WD-40?
Before you read to the end, does anybody know what the main ingredient of WD-40?
No Cheating.....
WD-40 ~ Who knew!
I had a neighbour who bought a new pickup.
I got up very early one Sunday morning and saw that someone had spray
painted red all around the sides of this beige truck (for some unknown
reason).
I went over, woke him up, and told him the bad news.
He was very upset and was trying to figure out what to do ....
probably nothing until Monday morning, since nothing was open.
Another neighbour came out and told him to get his WD-40 and clean it off.
It removed the unwanted paint beautifully and did not harm his paint
job that was on the truck. I was impressed!
WD-40 who knew?
"Water Displacement #40".
The product began from a search for a rust preventative solvent and
degreaser to protect missile parts.
WD-40 was created in 1953, by three technicians at the San Diego
Rocket Chemical Company.
Its name comes from the project that was to find a 'Water
Displacement' Compound.
They were finally successful for a formulation, with their fortieth
attempt, thus WD-40. The 'Convair Company' bought it in bulk to
protect their atlas missile parts.
Ken East (one of the original founders) says there is nothing in WD-40
that would hurt you.
When you read the 'shower door' part, try it. It's the first thing
that has ever cleaned that spotty shower door. If yours is plastic,
it works just as well as on glass. It's a miracle!
Then try it on your stove-top.
It's now shinier than it's ever been.
You'll be amazed.
WD-40 Uses:
1. Protects silver from tarnishing.
2. Removes road tar and grime from cars.
3. Cleans and lubricates guitar strings.
4. Gives floor that 'just-waxed' sheen without making them slippery.
5. Keeps the flies off of Cows, Horses, and other Farm Critters.
6. Restores and cleans chalkboards.
7. Removes lipstick stains.
8. Loosens stubborn zippers.
9. Untangles jewellery chains.
10. Removes stains from stainless steel sinks.
11. Removes dirt and grime from the barbecue grill.
12. Keeps ceramic/terracotta garden pots from oxidising.
13. Removes tomato stains from clothing.
14. Keeps glass shower doors free of water spots.
15. Camouflages scratches in ceramic and marble floors.
16. Keeps scissors working smoothly.
17. Lubricates noisy door hinges on both home and vehicles doors.
18. It removes that nasty tar and scuff marks from the kitchen
flooring. It doesn't seem to harm the finish and you won't have to
scrub nearly as hard to get them off. Just remember to open some
windows if you have a lot of marks.
19. Remove those nasty bug guts that will eat away the finish
on your car if not removed quickly!
20. Gives a children's playground gym slide a shine for a super fast slide.
21. Lubricates gearshift and mower deck lever for ease of handling on
riding mowers.
22. Rids kids rocking chair and swings of squeaky noises.
23. Lubricates tracks in sticking home windows and makes them easier to open.
24. Spraying an umbrella stem makes it easier to open and close.
25. Restores and cleans padded leather dashboards in vehicles, as well
as vinyl bumpers.
26. Restores and cleans roof racks on vehicles.
27. Lubricates and stops squeaks in electric fans.
28. Lubricates wheel sprockets on tricycles, wagons and bicycles for
easy handling.
29. Lubricates fan belts on washers and dryers and keeps them running smoothly.
30. Keeps rust from forming on saws and saw blades, and other tools.
31. Removes grease splatters from stove-tops.
32. Keeps bathroom mirror from fogging.
33. Lubricates prosthetic limbs.
34. Keeps pigeons off the balcony (they hate the smell).
35. Removes all traces of duct tape.
36. Folks even spray it on their arms, hands, and knees to relieve
arthritis pain.
37. Florida 's favourite use is: 'cleans and removes love bugs from
grills and bumpers.'
38. The favourite use in the state of New York , it protects the Statue
of Liberty from the elements.
39. WD-40 attracts fish. Spray a little on live bait or lures and you
will be catching the big one in no time. Also, it's a lot cheaper than
the chemical attractants that are made for just that purpose. Keep
in mind though, using some chemical laced baits or lures for fishing
are not allowed in some states.
40. Use it for fire ant bites. It takes the sting away immediately and
stops the itch.
41. It is great for removing crayon from walls. Spray it on the marks
and wipe with a clean rag.
42. Also, if you've discovered that your teenage daughter has washed
and dried a tube of lipstick with a load of laundry, saturate the
lipstick spots with WD-40 and rewash. Presto! The lipstick is gone!
43. If you spray it inside a wet distributor cap, it will displace the
moisture, allowing the engine to start.
My discovery, Ants don't like it..................
P.S.
As for that Basic, Main Ingredient.......
Well.... it's FISH OIL....
Now This Is Definitely Worth SHARING!!

i’ve been dying to hear your thoughts on the starlight express revival have you been is it worth it what do you think about the changes they made
Well... they did exactly the one thing I said would make the least sense(made Greaseball female despite the fact that Greaseball, of all characters, depends on being incapable of understanding what it's like on the wrong side of any flavour of systemic oppression), removed pretty much any sense of character(which at least means female Greseball doesn't stick out too much as a baffling decision among all the others), and telling the story seems to have been shunted to the very bottom of the pile of priorities, several places below "cover everything with holographic glitter" and pretty much on par with "adjust the keys of the songs to accommodate the fact that there are now altos and sopranos playing roles originally written for tenors and basses".
Introducing the concept of hydrogen power is a great idea(stars are made of hydrogen! Being powered by hydrogen is harnessing the power of the stars! What could be more appropriate for the Starlight Express??), but it's pretty much been plonked down with a shrug and an "I dunno, someone else figure out how to incorporate it into the text, I'm off for lunch.". There's a truck carrying around apparently unwanted hydrogen cells for... some reason? who is largely derided by all and sundry for... some reason? but is then able to couple up with Rusty to give him a power boost... somehow?
Many of the secondary and tertiary characters have been rejigged and renamed(the other competitors are no longer National Engines, which I can get behind, the stereotypes were always risky), including amalgamating Flat Top and CB into a new hybrid Slick Oil who is just vaguely antagonistic and rude until "Wide Smile". This falls narratively flat, because we already disliked Slick - there's no sense of betrayal or horror at the revelation that such a Nice Guy(tm) has revealed himself to be a gleeful mass murderer, just a confirmation that an unpleasant individual is, indeed, nasty. The other Freight(Porter and Lumber - Porter after Cole, Stilgoe is still at hand) join in with Slick in sabotaging Rusty, then sing "Right Place, Right Time" at him, claiming that they've been cheated too. Which um. My dudes. That was you.
An effort is clearly being made to be progressive with gender, but it doesn't look like it's coming from a place of any deep understanding. Casting an enby as Electra - great! But all their understudies are cis men. Removing early noughties Pussycat Dolls-inspired slut-drop anthem "Whole Lotta Locomotion" - great! But replacing it with an obvious rewrite of "Rolling Stock: reprise" rather than simply revert to the unobjectionable "A Lotta Locomotion"? Why would you do that?Give the coaches a badass new "We've had it up to here with this bullshit, and we're not taking it any more!" song - great! But rather than that replacing the "you're worth so much more than you think you are, now play mind games until you get your toxic ex back" song that gave Buffy and Ashley a chance to shine in the old show, where it would be appropriate in the plot, it's used as an introduction and there is no song for Belle and Tassita(as they now are) to show off in. It also randomly includes a snippet of "Tyre Tracks and Broken Hearts" which I assume is meant as a loving tribute to Jim Steinman, but unfortunately is such a distinctive and compelling melody that it sticks out like a sore thumb that it's never heard again. Mixing up the genders of the coaches by adding a boy - great! But now you can't use "coach" interchangeably with "woman" to make any sort of wider point, and that hasn't been carried through the rest of the show.
The cast are uniformly brilliant. I don't like the fact that Greaseball is being played by a woman, but by god, when Al Knott is on that stage it belongs to her and she has the range to flip around the octaves of material that resists being sung by her like a goddamn vocal acrobat. I don't like Control being in among the toy train characters(purely personal preference, I accept it as making a precedented amount of sense - they're now emphasising the fact that it all takes place in a child's dream, and if Clara can dance with the Nutcracker and Alice can talk to the Queen of Hearts, it's consistent for Control to be able to hand Dinah a box of tissues), but the girl I saw was an exceptionally good young performer, and legit looked like she was Momma's daughter. Rusty is 17. Seven-bloody-teen. And he's rivaling the first Rusty I fell in love with, who was 19(I was 13 I swear it's not weird). The way he holds a note while gliding down what looks like a 30 degree ramp alone distinguishes him. I have never seen a Dinah with better comedic chops. "UNCOUPLED" had me in stitches.
The costumes are disappointing. Like I said, they're very shiny. Everything is holographic, Greaseball is even lenticular. But there is little to no characterisation in the costumes - there are precious few details that tell you anything about who they are, they're just shiny blocky shapes. If you look really hard, maybe you can say that Dinah still has some tablecloth, and Wrench has spanner sets sticking out of her arms and legs as wings, and Electra has lightning strike balloons stored in a backpack. They look absolutely ridiculous, but they do imply electricity. Coming from the same designer as the costumes in Six, this is not only disappointing but surprising - I would have sworn that the Six queens were directly inspired by Starlight Express, they look like Tudor-inspired OC coach fan creations, but apparently Gabriella Slade had never even seen John Napier's designs before being asked to come up with something different. I assume she was under some severe limitations wrt not replicating anything that was his copyright, beyond basic features like safety pads and the skates themselves. I don't think the concept of using the costumes to convey the characters was copyrighted, though.
The beginning includes the "When the night is darkest" lullaby and I swear I nearly cried.
The "Starlight Sequence" is gorgeous. I don't know if it's been transposed into a different key to sit where both Momma and Rusty can sing it comfortably or if one of them just has that wide a range, but the horrific clunking great key changes mid-phrase that made the song physically painful to listen to in 2018 are not there. And the starfield that lights up for "I am the Starlight" is a kaleidoscope of pastel multicolour points sitting just above your head and all around the auditorium - that moment is properly magical.
Bloody, bloody "I Do" is still fucking there. It has still not undergone a second draft since it debuted in 2012.
There's a lot of dialogue/recit that's been inserted between songs, and it all kinda sounds like devised theatre that was initially improvised by people who were running out of ideas. Somehow it gives it the impression of being an amdram show with an inexplicably huge budget at some moments.
It is excellently performed, the music is still good, it is visually exciting. If you want to see some very talented young people performing familiar songs in a visual spectacle and you don't care about whether or not it makes any sense, it's very enjoyable.

Day Twenty One - Shiny
Word Count: 1046 (I had them talk too much 👀)
Warnings: Javier Peña’s introspection featuring bad jokes (not even Javier Peña is safe from Nerdie’s “brand” of comedy - might be offensive to call a brand lol)
Notes: I didn’t mean to try and make this funny. I was going for cute, and I don’t know how to make Javier Peña cute because he smolders too much so this is where we are today.
Main Masterlist / March Spring Prompts 2024 / Writing Challenges
The lake had become Javier’s refuge. A place of quiet reflection before work early in the morning, midday for a lunch break and in the evenings. The days were getting longer so now he could watch the sun cast the hues of the sky so the water could reflect them. Occasionally, his deputy would stop by at first, but he feels like he intimidated them with his presence when he didn’t intend to. Now they do not anymore.
Javier Peña finds himself in a curious situation. He’s either attracting unwanted attention from some women he has previously said no to or those he knew were just a bad idea or he couldn’t quite get the hang of the inner office workings of the sheriff’s department. Used to being able to find a place for himself within even dire circumstances was a skill that had served him well since childhood. Feeling like an outsider in a place he called home was eating away at him. He wasn’t exactly sure how to fix it.
It was a clear spring afternoon and he was contemplating this issue once again on his drive out to the lake. He happened to see another vehicle, a small red box of a car, parked near the lone tree he normally did when he came here. At first he didn’t see anyone when he got out, so maybe they were just sitting in the car or something, but he heard the person before seeing them. The light jangle was a sound he didn’t expect to hear outside of the courthouse. Getting out of his truck, he spied a familiar silhouette with a black pencil skirt and a white blouse. Upon hearing the crunch of the dress under his feet, the woman turned and waved. Surprised but friendly like always, the shiny charms from the bracelet on her left arm shimmering as the sun hit it.
“Good afternoon. Didn’t expect to see you here sheriff. How are you?”
“Alright, how about yourself? I didn’t peg you for an outdoors type. Especially in your work clothes.” That earned a light chuckle as she turned back to face the water.
“I pass by this place on the way home from work. Thought I’d actually get out of the car and look at it for once. Doesn’t hurt to do that from time to time.”
“No it doesn’t.”
A few minutes pass as they both look at the water feeling the breeze as it skirts the surface of the lake.
“You’re not going to ask me why I’m out here Thalia? I thought you would.”
“I’m curious but it’s your business Javier. Your admirers shouldn’t come out this far.” Peña was the one to laugh this time, his hands graced his hips with a smirk to match.
“Please don’t tell me that’s what you think of me too. I’m a lot more than just that.” Thalia looked up at Javier and removed his yellow aviators he often wore when out and about. Matched his light and dark brown uniform well.
“You sure that’s not what you think of yourself? You seem to be in hiding. Well not only from those crazed horny ladies, but from other things.” She folded the and tucked them into one of his shirt pockets on his chest, patting it. “The sheriff I know isn’t afraid of much, maybe his dad and pickles.”
“That’s a low blow Thalia. And I just dislike them. Not afraid. I’m not hiding from anything or anyone I just…” Javier’s voice trailed off, was it just the office stuff bothering him? The adjustment from being home or everything else? Could be anything, nothing he wanted to think or talk about right now. He peered at her bracelet then noticed something on her sleeve. “What is that? Are you the one in hiding with that red stain? I’m not going to need to take you in am I?” His head tilted and with an eyebrow raised, Peña’s question made Thalia sigh.
“Not unless you’re going to book a broken jar of strawberry jam.”
“I was going to be shocked if you didn’t mention some sort of spill or mishap. You need one of those gown or smock things.” His hands waved up and down his torso and arms. Her eye rolled as she shook her head.
“Thanks for the empathy Javier.”
“Anytime cariño (dear). Call me Javi.”
“Should I? I not sure about that. What will the people say?” Placing a hand on her chest, Thalia gave a fake exasperated look. “Such a scandal!”
“Whatever you say, I’m no stranger to them. You’re not as funny as you think Thalia.” Javier crossed his arms, listening to the trees rustle. When was the last time he just joked around with someone? Not since Steve and Connie in Florida.
“I don’t need to make anyone else laugh but myself and since I have an audience of one, my jokes always hit.” Thalia’s smile softened as she watched Javier, his shoulders seemed relaxed. Whenever she’d seen him he was usually on edge, this was a good look for him. She rocked on the balls of her feet for a few minutes, then worked up the nerve to ask. “You wanna get some something to eat? Like some barbecue? I’m in the mood for ribs.”
“I don’t know. Is your blouse going to be safe from the sauce? Maybe a burger and fries? You’ll still need a smock either way.” Thalia pinched his arm and Javier grabbed it, making his arm go limp. “You’ve assaulted an officer of the law!”
“I’ll pay for dinner for the wounded sheriff. I’m getting in the car, you’re welcome to work yourself back over to your truck. Come by Big Sal’s if you wanna eat.” Walking toward her car, Peña followed her and opened her door after she unlocked it. She hopped in with a grin, Javi close her door and started back to his truck. She kept an eye on him to make sure he got in the truck alright - another joke she told herself. Starting up her car, she pulled off as Javier followed.
Maybe he did manage to connect with someone else since being back home, it just wasn’t who he thought it would be.
