thinking (again) about training camp yu wenzhou. when he played wei chen with his warlock, wei chen wasn't sure if yu wenzhou had ever used that class before. which means yu wenzhou didn't go to him for tips or advice or help while he was learning.

and now I can't stop thinking about yu wenzhou learning on his own and eagerly waiting for the day he proves himself. once he shows everyone what he can do, he'll be good enough to sit down with wei chen and have a true exchange of ideas about playing warlock. there are so many things they can talk about and argue about and learn. yu wenzhou can't wait.

and then he does it. he proves himself in front of everyone just like he always wanted to.

he never gets his conversation. wei chen leaves shortly after.

We should have known we're in for a silly season with Charles when everything pointed to a Monza contract renewal but nothing happened, I assume the contract renewal didn't go as smoothly as expected and/or Charles perhaps decided to explore more options...

you know. i heard a LOT of people saying monza was tee'd up perfectly for a renewal announcement. i vaguely get it (it theoretically needs to be soon/should have already happened and it's their home gp, à la yuki) but were there other signs? charles' love letter to monza was clearly being produced and he was VERY smiley/overjoyed in monza, so the vibes were there. the love was there. but otherwise, aside from monza weekend itself, idk what strongly indicates monza would have been the time yaknow? (i also have never experienced a silly season so i am not as up with paddock lore and how teams typically move with these things)

but yeah, if it was meant to be monza... idk, something happened. charles definitely wasn't happy to lose out on pole position and he very clearly refused a tow from carlos because he doesn't trust carlos to do it properly. it was charles' weekend for priority and he could have taken pole, likely, with the tow... he tried to get it from alonso instead... it's monza... that's a very frustrating scenario, especially when said teammate you can't trust takes it. so maybe that threw a wrench in any plans / re-ignited negotiations on certain clauses.

then again: charles didn't seem too heated about it. he was still overwhelmingly positive and giggly starting third. he was unbothered about missing out on a podium because he got a little kick out of terrorizing carlos. he was liking honor tweets calling out carlos' mother. his attitude certainly still suggested easy confidence and security of a contract having been signed......
