AIRPLANE MODE
peter parker x reader
words: 6.5K
warning!! smut!!!!
[hhh 2 days after watching far from home i had this really dirty dream so enjoy - first time showing my writing! let me know if you like it]
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
something has been wrong with her ever since this flight took off
she's been super horny
thinking about porn-like fantasies in her head, she started to become wet and dripping in her seat
"i can't take this anymore," she thought as she stumbled to the bathroom. everyone was sleeping anyways
opening the bathroom door, what she did not expect, was peter parker, sitting in the toilet with his cock in his hand
she clenched around nothing, and felt arousal dripping down her thigh
"i- i" he started to stutter and his face started to grow extremely red
she quickly entered the bathroom with him and shut and locked the door
peter looked scared and confused, but that didn't stop his hard-on
"i think we're both very desperate," she started as she pulled off her shorts and underwear and showed him her panties
his eyes widened at the piece of cloth, completely drenched in her arousal. he looked up at her
"so why don't we help each other?"
soon, she was bent over the toilet cover, naked, with peter behind her
he saw her juices and arousal dripping down her thighs, so ready for him, and him only
he rubbed his length along her wetness and she whimpered at the contact
"shh, someone might hear" peter warned
she nodded her head, and put a hand on her mouth to keep her moans in
peter is panting and he can't hold back anymore, his cock was so hard it hurt
"are you ready?" he asked
she nodded, not trusting her voice
he grabbed his cock to align with her and slid in with no problem
he grunted quietly "you're so wet- fuck, you feel so good around me"
the way he filled her up relieved her aching emptiness, it made her moan into her hands and brought tears to her eyes
peter started to move, rough and hard from the start because of her dripping wetness, and the force hit her so hard that she needed both hands on the toilet cover
her mouth was open, silent screams coming from her throat, and when moans threatened to spill out, she clenched her teeth and started crying from the pleasure
the lack of moans made the room silent, but the quiet sounds of liquids squelching and skin slapping echoed through the air and rang in their ears
peter enjoyed the view from the back, his hooded, dark eyes enjoyed the way he can see his hands on her hips, her bare backside, and the point where he disappeared into her
he could go harder, and he hoped that there would be another time with her later, when he would go all out and make her scream his name and writhe underneath him
these thoughts just made him hornier and harder, and his mind clouded further with lust
though dazed, he can't forget the girl in front of him, taking him so well
her covered moans became more frequent, andit was apparent that she was close
"i-i'm cum-haaa~!"
she covered her mouth again to keep quiet, and he wished he could hear that sweet voice again, and the other dirty moans that could come out of her mouth
she screamed in her hand as she came and he rode her out of her orgasm, but he was still hard, possibly harder than before because of her
she panted, collapsed on the toilet seat, feeling complete, but unsatisfied with one round
she looked behind at him, with dark, lustful, eyes, smiling while she was panting from her fucked out state
he groaned, something about this girl made him horny, and always turned on
she looked at his cock, still hard and big
she collected herself and stood up
"sit down" she whispered to him
peter sat, and she helped him take off his shirt
she gaped at his abs, not expected a ripped body from a nerd like him
she put her hand on his chest, and straddled him, hovering over his cock
she touched it to align himself with her as she sank down on his cock, using her other hand to hold his shoulder to steady herself
he groaned quietly and held her hips, liking the way she always fit his hands
her eyes wandered to his biceps, clearly toned from some kind of work
as she sat down all the way, she leaned her head on his shoulder, and wondered when would someone smart like him have the time to get so fit
the thought was interrupted when he ground his hips against her's impatiently
"hmm-!"
still sensitive from the previous round, she moaned into his nape and moved her hips up and down for him
peter was in heaven right now and was focused on feeling her. he focused on how she smelled so sweet and felt so soft, he never noticed these things in school before
what mattered the most right now, though, was how she felt around him
he could never get enough of this feeling, but he needed some friction and ground his hips to send a message
once she started moving her hips, and moaned into his neck, he couldn't get enough of her
he needed more
he carried her with ease and she squeaked in surprise
he laid her on the small space of the toilet cover, just enough room to work with
he started to pound into her, and her face contorted into one of absolute ecstacy, letting out a silent scream. the new angle allowes him to reach places he couldn't before, bringing new heights of pleasure to the table
but he couldn't get enough of it
he needed more
peter parker was absolutely drunk off this girl, and he was addicted to the feeling of her velvet walls
he was getting close, and she was too
she looked up at him, so focused on chasing his high, thrusting with precision. her eyes trailed the sweat that dripped down from his neck, to his broad chest, to his delicious abs, and down to...
"oh~"
the full view of his cock entering her cunt, amplified her pleasure, feeling it and seeing it was a new experience and made her head dizzy, and the dirty noises that came from down there wasn't helping either. the sight was enough to send her to her orgasm
"i'm ge-getting close ha~! ah~ peter~!"
"ugh-!"
her voice sent him over the edge, and she came with him
when he pulled out, he saw their mixed juices overflowing out of her and he groaned quietly
he looked at her, and he enjoyed the sight of her fucked out, knowing that he did this work of art
he grabbed tissues and wiped her clean, she moaned quietly at the contact
once they were both cleaned up and dressed, well, almost dressed, she wasn't wearing panties
peter blushed at that thought and forced himself to stop thinking dirty things right after what they just did
she looked up at him and had a slight blush, and she looked pretty in her after glow of sex-
peter parker, stop it
despite all that, she looked a bit timid in front of him "thanks for that...and sorry that i kindof forced myself on you"
he shook his head "nonononono, i also wanted it, so..."
god why was he so awkward?
he took a deep breath before starting over "it helped the both of us, so don't worry about it"
she smiled at how cute he was, and felt relief that he wasn't inconvenienced
"well, i'll leave first, then you can come out later. i'll see you next time"
he was left alone in the bathroom again and a million thoughts ran through his head, but only two words rang like wedding bells:
"next time"

Chapter 5 here we go!!!
Frank and his daughters came home about an hour after you did. You were already back in your servant clothes and waiting by the door. You took their cloaks and bags, and began hanging them on the rack in the main hall.
“How was your night?” you asked politely.
“It was a splendid evening, Y/N,” Frank answered. “More than you could ever hope for.”
“I’m sure it was,” you returned, holding back a smirk. If only he knew.
“I’m relieved to see you have not stolen anything else from my wife’s closet,” he sneered.
You shook your head. “No, sir. I wouldn’t dream of it. I’ve been thoroughly educated.”
“Very good,” he said, seeming displeased that he couldn’t goad you.
But nothing could spoil this night. It was perfect.
“Is there anything you need before going to bed?” you asked.
“I’m fine, but you’ll of course help the girls get changed,” he said.
You nodded again. “Absolutely.”
He watched you suspiciously as you followed your step sisters up the stairs. You were calm. Too calm. And you were humming, which you didn’t normally do. Plus the tune was something he had heard somewhere - but no event would have had you in attendance. His frown deepened. Something was up.
***
Gwilym returned to the palace two hours later, empty handed and broken-hearted. Rami and Ben were waiting on the steps for him, but as he walked up, he only shook his head. They sighed, disappointed for their friend. Thankfully, the remaining guests had all gone home.
“Sorry, mate,” Ben said.
“There was no sign of her?” Rami asked.
“No,” Gwilym said. “Even the carriage tracks just seemed to disappear. It was like she just vanished.”
“So, all we’ve got to go on is the shoe?” Ben wondered, holding it up.
Gwilym had only entrusted his best friends with it, and they had kept it from his father.
“It’s made of glass,” Gwilym said. “Which means it only fits her.”
“So what are we gonna do?” Rami asked. “Try the shoe on every woman in the kingdom?”
“Only the single women,” Gwilym said, as if it were obvious.
Rami and Ben shared a surprised look.
“I hope you’re joking,” Ben said.
“Far from it,” Gwilym replied. “I’m going to find that girl, and I’m going to marry her.”
Rami sighed. “Very well, then. But let’s start in the morning.”
“Thank you both,” Gwilym said, relieved. They had every reason to leave now. Both had duties at home, and had done what was socially expected. With the ball over, there was no obligation to stay. “Really.”
“Of course we’re gonna help you,” Ben said. “But I’m with Rami. Starting tomorrow.”
“You guys go on up, I’ll be right behind you,” Gwilym insisted.
His friends shrugged, but did as he requested and went inside. Gwilym remained, holding that glass piece of you carefully in the crook of his arm. He looked out into the night sky, hoping somehow you could feel his desperation.
“I am coming for you, my darling,” he said quietly.
***
You yawned as the sun peered into your room through your curtains. You were feeling unusually light this morning. Like you were still floating just above the ballroom floor. With a contented sigh, you stretched and forced yourself out of bed. Frank and the girls would be needing their breakfast soon, but you knew you had a little extra time today. They’d certainly have a bit of a lie in after the late night.
You threw your dress and apron on. You did a spin around your room, giggling as you imagined Gwilym there with you. Then you had to slow to a stop. It was a fantasy, nothing more. One glorious night. But now it was time to return to reality and your true life. Still, you could cling to the dream for one morning.
Humming to yourself, you put the pot on to boil and began prepping plates for breakfast. You set a pan atop the stove to start some sausages when you heard the jingle of a bell. You looked at the wall. It was coming from Eleanor’s room, so you guessed she was up. You asked Elsie to start the food and went back upstairs to get your step sister dressed. When you reached the landing, you saw Frank emerging from his room, already dressed.
“Good morning,” you said kindly.
“Y/N, what did you get up to last night?” he asked.
“Why, nothing, sir,” you said. “I cleaned up, as you instructed, changed clothes, and got a head start on some other chores. When those were done, I occupied myself by reading.”
He seemed skeptical. “I see. I hope you weren’t reading anything too fanciful. You mustn’t fill your mind with...unrealistic dreams and fantasies.”
Your brow furrowed with confusion. What was he implying?
“No, sir,” you said. “I try to keep everything practical.”
“Good,” he said. “Now get to work.”
You nodded, a bit perplexed, but continued into Eleanor’s room.
***
In the morning, Gwilym was the first up. He hardly slept at all. He wrote a decree for his father to send out, that he and Ben and Rami would be making the rounds through town and the countryside to find the owner of the missing shoe. They would begin today, and search until the prince had found his lost love.
To his shock, the king agreed to this. He read over it at the breakfast table, nodding at each point. The ladies were to try on the shoe and if it fit, it must be the girl who Gwilym met at the ball.
“Very well,” he said. “You’ll begin today?”
“Yes,” Gwilym said. “I want to find her as soon as possible.”
“Alright, son,” the king replied. He looked at the prince and offered a sincere smile. “And best of luck.”
Gwilym beamed. “Thank you, Father!”
And so, they began their search within the palace, where the out of town noble guests were staying. Gwilym had his doubts about those girls because he met them before you even came through the door. But he knew everyone deserved a fair chance. When the shoe fit none of those women, they made their way into town, with a few guards along for protection.
***
Frank received a letter from the palace early in the morning. He looked it over and you saw a flash of...something cross his face. You couldn’t place the emotion though. It seemed almost like a glimmer of hope. His eyes glanced over at you before quickly turning to his daughters.
“Girls, get yourselves looking nice,” he said. “We’ll be having visitors from the palace this afternoon.”
“The palace?” you questioned, without meaning to, but you could hardly help yourself.
“Yes, but that isn’t any of your business, Y/N,” he snapped. “Get my daughters ready and then proceed with your chores as usual. You are not to make your presence known while the visitors are here.”
You nodded apologetically. As you made your way back to the kitchen, you wondered if the visitors Frank referred to could be Gwilym and his father. Was he looking for you? Something in your heart told you he was, but you hardly even dared to hope. Such a thing was the stuff of dreams. And yet, the ball seemed like a dream too, but it was as real as the tea kettle you carried. You began devising a plan.
As the day wore on, you completed your chores quickly. You wanted to prepare yourself as well. Your gut was telling you Gwilym was on his way to take you away from here. And you had all the proof you needed in that slipper that was hidden beneath your bed. So when you finished sweeping the entrance hall, you ran up to your room to get it. Only, when you opened your door, you came to an abrupt stop. Frank was sitting on your bed, holding the slipper by the heel. One wrong move of his fingers and it would fall, risking a break.
“Well, well, well,” he said darkly. “I had a feeling you had made your way to the ball. You’ve been far too dreamy to have had as dull a night as you claim.”
Your heart rate quickened.
“That’s mine,” you said, feeling childish as the words left your mouth. “It was given to me.”
Frank laughed humorlessly. “Oh, likely story. I suppose this is another one of my wife’s things you stole.”
“You cannot stop me from this,” you said, ignoring the accusation. “The prince loves me.”
“Against his better judgement, I believe that’s true,” he admitted.
You blinked, surprised at your step father’s nonchalance about this. Did that mean he would accept it? No. There had to be something else he was getting at.
“As it is, though,” he said. “You’re spoken for.”
You frowned as your stomach dropped.
“What are you talking about?” you asked.
“You’re mine, Y/N,” he said, getting to his feet and straightening his jacket with his free hand. “And mine alone.”
A chill ran down your spine. Was he really saying what you thought he was saying?
“I’m not a slave, Frank,” you said. “I am free to do this.”
“I do not intend to make you my slave,” he said. “I intend to make you my wife.”
Your body went rigid as the blood ran out of your face. The very idea made your stomach churn. The thought of being his wife, sharing his bed, bearing his children...you nearly heaved right there in front of him.
“No,” you said firmly. “I won’t.”
“I’m afraid you don’t have a choice,” he said.
“It’s sick!” you cried. “I’m your daughter!”
“Step daughter,” he said. “I will have this estate, Y/N. You will do for me what your mother could not. My son will be the true and rightful heir, and start a new line.”
“Are you not happy with the children you have?” you wondered, completely rocked to your core. “Why do you insist on a son?”
“Sons are the only useful offspring,” he scoffed. “Daughters are just mouths to feed until you can marry them off, and even then, what’s theirs will never belong to their family. It belongs to their husbands. Well, I am not going to lose everything because my previous wives were too weak to give me what I want.”
“I will not,” you refused again. “I’ll run away.”
“And leave behind your home?” he taunted. “The one your father built so lovingly with your mother?”
“It will no longer be a home to me if I am trapped in such a marriage,” you said.
“I’m not giving you a choice, Y/N,” he sighed. “I’ll keep eyes on you everywhere, I’ll lock you in your room, whatever it takes. Or, you can submit to me now and become mistress of this house as you were born to be.”
“I’ll die before I marry you,” you spat. “I’ll die before I bear any child of yours. I’ll -”
“No need to go on,” he said. He was being alarmingly calm about this. “I know the rest. But you will marry me, Y/N. You will have my son, and you’ll do it all without complaint. Just as you have with everything I have ever given you.”
You blinked again. So everything he’d put you through was a test? A way to manipulate you into obeying his every command? He was...grooming you? Your stomach gave another lurch.
“But first,” he said. “We will need to squash your dreams of Prince Gwilym.”
“What do you -”
He cut off your question by hurling your slipper into the wall. It shattered with a crash, which drowned out your anguished cry. You sank to your knees, hopeless.
“There now,” he said. “I’m only teaching you the harsh lesson of reality.”
Tears fell freely down your cheeks. You heard loud knocking at the front door, but barely registered it.
“That’ll be him,” Frank said.
You snapped to your senses and started to rise for one last desperate escape attempt, but Frank was faster. You felt the blow of his palm against your cheek before you even saw it coming. You fell to the ground, face throbbing. You wanted to scream, or cry, or swing back at him, but you were completely numb from the shock. You couldn’t feel anything but the sting on your skin.
“Do not resist me again, Y/N,” Frank warned.
With that, he walked out of your room, and you heard him turn the lock. You were trapped. You curled into a ball on your floor and wept quietly.
***
Gwilym was relieved when the door finally opened. This was the last house of the day. He saw a man there, whose smile was...unconvincing to say the least. He bowed.
“We are happy to see you, Prince Gwilym,” he said. “I am Frank Tarleton, and I believe one of my daughters is the girl you’re searching for.”
Gwilym raised a brow. “But you don’t know which?”
Frank blinked, taken aback, and then laughed an empty sort of laugh. “Good one, your highness. Please, come in.”
Gwilym looked at Ben and Rami who both shrugged. They followed Frank inside and into the drawing room, where two young women sat on the couch, looking nervous. Ben explained everything, with Frank nodding eagerly along. Something about the man struck Gwilym as slimy. He was too polite, too eager to please, and it seemed even his own daughters were made uncomfortable by him. Gwilym sighed.
“Let’s get this over with,” he mumbled.
He was beginning to lose hope. Who was left, if not these girls? And yet, neither of them struck him as the one he was looking for.
***
You listened carefully at your door, not daring to make any more noise. If Frank returned, he might do worse than strike you. But you could listen to what was happening downstairs.
It was a bit maddening to hear, though. To be so close to Gwilym now, and yet so far. To be a prisoner now in your own home was worse than being a servant. And the worst part was seeing the proof of your identity lying in pieces beside you. You felt like the slipper. Broken. Completely in pieces. Like your dreams too.
You heard the front door open and close again. You went to your window and watched Gwilym mount his horse, his friends on either side of him, and trot away toward town. Was that truly the last time you would see your love?
It couldn’t be. Now, you could hear Frank’s familiar footsteps coming back up the stairs. You knew you had to make a break for it as soon as he opened the door. You braced yourself. You had no time to pack anything, no time to grab money or valuables. You would have to break away with nothing but the clothes on your back and a prayer.
You watched the doorknob turn, feeling as if everything was in slow motion. It creaked slowly open and Frank’s body appeared in the door frame. He reached for you, but you ducked under his arm, darted down the hall, flew down the stairs, and straight out the front door.
You ran. As fast as your legs could carry you, not even daring to look back to see if Frank was in pursuit. You just hurtled toward town, hoping that anyone could help you. You would give up your home, and everything you knew - you would even give up your life - before marrying Frank. You had to escape, even if it meant becoming a beggar.
You burst through the back door of the tavern, tears streaming down your cheeks, and chest heaving. Flying through the kitchen, you threw open the doors to the dining area and found Zelda behind the bar. She looked up at the commotion you were making, took in the sight of you, and her brow furrowed.
“Zelda, please!” you cried, frantic. “I need help!”
You went to her, and she took you in her arms.
“Y/N, what’s -”
She didn’t get to finish her question before Frank came barreling through. He must not have been far behind. You let out a scream. Zelda pushed you behind her and you cowered at her back. She put her arms out to shield you further.
“Zelda, remove yourself if you know what’s good for you,” Frank threatened.
“Don’t, Zelda, please!” you begged. “Don’t let him take me! He’s going to force me to marry him! Please!”
She stiffened in front of you. “Oh, no you don’t, Frank. I will not stand by and let you do this.”
“Stand back or you’re fired,” he warned.
“I don’t care,” she shot back. “I won’t let you have her!”
“I’m afraid it’s not up to you,” he returned harshly.
He grabbed her by the shoulders and tried to move her, but Zelda was a stout woman with considerable strength. She resisted him, taking hold of his biceps and forcing him back several steps. Her advantage was clearly gained by the element of surprise.
“Run, Y/N!” she cried. “Get out of here!”
Panicked, you leapt over the counter and wrenched the door open. You threw yourself out of it, trying to ignore the sounds of the struggle behind you. You darted into the street and sprinted as fast as you could away from the tavern. You had no idea where you would go from here - but you could not stay and be forced into a lifetime of Frank.
You glanced back. To your horror, you saw that Frank was emerging from the tavern and had spotted you right away. With a gasp, you turned back around and sped up. Only, as you turned, you didn’t realize what was in front of you. You ran right smack into a man’s back. The force of the collision put you on your rear in the dirt.
Wincing, you looked up. Your jaw dropped. It was Gwilym!
He met your gaze and froze as well. For a moment, you were both back at the ball, when he’d come up to you on the stairs and asked you to dance. He recognized you instantly.
“It’s you,” he whispered.
You opened your mouth to respond, but a sudden stinging on your scalp caused you to cry out instead. Frank had fisted his hand around your hair and dragged you to your feet.
“Your highness!” he gasped, noticing Gwilym. “I do apologize. My servant here has forgotten her manners.” He looked at you and continued through gritted teeth. “And her place.”
He yanked your hair on the last word for extra emphasis. Gwilym’s chest tightened as he watched Frank manhandle you. He briefly imagined himself drawing his sword and plunging it right into Frank’s chest, but he refrained.
“Release her,” he ordered.
Frank looked at the prince, bewildered.
“I’m sorry?” he questioned.
Gwilym’s expression darkened. “I told you to release her.”
Frank hesitated.
“Now!” Gwilym shouted.
You relaxed when Frank finally let go. Your scalp still itched with soreness. You desperately wanted to throw yourself into Gwilym’s arms but you were still afraid of what Frank might do. You did take a cautious step back.
“Your highness, I’m dealing with an unruly servant girl,” Frank said. “But she is mine and I may do with her as I please.”
Your lip trembled and you shook your head.
“That’s not true,” you sobbed. “You know it’s not, I’m your step daughter and you’re forcing me to -”
“SILENCE!” Frank roared, and raised his hand.
You shrieked and covered your face with your arms. But the blow didn’t come. You peeked out, lowering your shield just barely. Gwilym had taken hold of Frank’s wrist. Rami and Ben, who you just noticed being present, both had their hands on their swords. Now was your chance.
“Don’t let him take me back,” you begged again. “Please, your highness, don’t let him.”
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Zelda trotting up the street. She halted when she took in the scene before her.
“Sir Tarleton,” Gwilym said, releasing Frank’s arm. “We were at your home and I asked you if you had any more women residing there besides your daughters. You lied.”
“It wasn’t a lie, really,” Frank argued. “Just an omission. You see, there’s no way this girl was at the ball when I forbid her from going.”
“If that’s true, then you are still in trouble,” Gwilym said. “All eligible maidens were to attend.”
“She’s only a servant -”
“I know you’re lying, Tarleton,” Gwilym interrupted. “Now stand down.”
Frank stepped away from the prince, shooting glances between him and you. Gwilym turned to Ben.
“The slipper please, Ben,” he said.
“No!” Frank protested, starting toward you, but Rami stopped him.
Ben handed Gwilym the slipped you’d left behind on the staircase. You wiped your cheeks, clearing away the dirt and tears, and held your prince’s gaze. You smiled at him.
“I knew you were the girl from the tavern,” he said gently. “I knew I recognized you.”
“And the cemetery,” you reminded him.
“Yes,” he chuckled. “I remember.”
“How did someone like you even notice someone like me?” you wondered, amazed.
“Because you are the most beautiful person I’ve ever met,” he told you simply. “Inside and out. And from that moment in the cemetery I saw what you truly are - a princess.”
You flushed, looking bashfully at the ground.
“I’m not really a -”
“Maybe not by birth,” he said. “But in heart.”
You met his eyes again. Those eyes that from the first time you saw them, told you the kindness of this man’s soul.
He knelt down onto one knee, holding out the slipper. It made you ache for the lost one Frank smashed, but you were relieved that you had left one behind at the palace. You toed off your boot and raised your leg. Ben stepped closer to help you balance and you shot him a grateful look. Then, you slid your delicate foot into the glass slipper. It fit perfectly.
Gwilym’s face lit up like a firework. Ben let go of your hand as Gwilym laughed, took you up in his arms and spun you around. You giggled with joy as well. He lowered you gently to the ground.
“Now, will you please tell me your name?” he asked.
You chuckled. “It’s Y/N.”
“Y/N,” he repeated, and cupped your cheek in his palm. “How beautiful.”
“No!” Frank shouted again, and this time Rami had to grab him to stop him. “No! You cannot take her from me!”
“The girl does not belong to you,” Gwilym said sternly. He turned and faced Frank. “I see very clearly now that you have been mistreating her. She is free to choose whatever she likes.”
“I’m her father!” Frank insisted.
“Step father,” you said. Then you looked up at Gwilym. “I choose you, my love.”
“I’m glad to hear it,” he replied. “Sir Tarleton, you’ll be taken into custody.”
Frank’s eyes went wide as the guards moved to take him from Rami. They clapped iron rings around his wrists. He seemed too shocked to struggle.
“Take him to the dungeon to await trial for his crimes,” Gwilym instructed. He faced you again. “And you, my darling, may come with me to the palace.”
“For how long?” you wondered.
“Forever, if you wish it,” he assured you.
“I could hardly wish for more,” you said happily.
He took your hand and helped you onto his horse. Together, you headed for safety, and building a life together. In true love.
***
You and Gwilym married as soon as possible. The whole kingdom was thrilled at the wedding. Frank was tried and convicted for his abuse, but would not serve a life sentence, so instead of prison, he was banished from the kingdom. Even so, early in your marriage to Gwilym, you frequently had nightmares where your stepfather returned.
Gwilym was as loving and patient a partner as you could hope for. He let you talk through your trauma, and he made sure to never do anything that caused you fear. His support helped you to truly heal.
Your step sisters had to move from the estate, which was now yours entirely. Eleanor and Miranda were surprisingly happy to take over their father’s first business, the tavern, which they ran successfully with Zelda. They both eventually found merchant husbands and lived peacefully, and you were genuinely happy for them.
But the greatest joy Gwilym ever gave you was your children. You had two boys and two girls, and they were the light of the whole kingdom’s eye - but especially the king, who lived a long and healthy life with his grandchildren. You had no other description for your life besides happily ever after.

What are everyone's "abilities" in Survivors? Ryley has good hearing and Milo glows but what do the others have?
!!! YOU HAVE ASKED ME ABOUT MY AU !!! THE FLOODGATES OF YELLING HAVE OPENED!!
OK SO. as u mentioned ryley has good hearing and milo glows. basically,
ryley = good hearing
milo = glowy boy
emily = electric detection (cooler than i describe rn my vocabulary is small)
danby = like emily's but reverse. controls electromagnetic things
roman = night vision
jochi = the most superpower like one, he got quick regeneration.
avery = telepathy!
bart = also kind of telepathy but more like future telepathy. he has future vision.
and i. never thought of one for ozzy actually and at this point i have no idea what to give them that wouldn't have been brought up prior so. u know genetics are weird! they just dont have anything ig. nobody look at me LABDKABDLABD
AND ALSO paul and marg have powers! paul got that peeper enzyme carrier thing, and marg got the very funny power of feeling others emotions. yes that includes the fish. yes this is one of the primary reasons she didnt kill paul over a decade of dealing w him. yes she hates it.
and the vesper haven't been sick long enough to develop anything! or at least thats what im going with bc i havent thought of anything for them yet 😔
AND NOW: LONGER EXPLANATIONS. IM GONNA GET CARRIED AWAY SO ITS UNDER A READ-MORE.
first off on the list: bart! so bart.. kinda has futuristic visions?? but the things he sees are not set in the stone,, as in if he dreams about smth (a lot like ryley can!) it is possible to change those events! most of these visions/telepathy type stuff were bc of the emperor and warpers, and also al-an! once the sea emp died and the warpers all calmed down his powers kind of go away a bit. i think i wrote al-an sort of mentioning it in one chap of awa?? but its only kind of implied. so he has rlly similar powers to avery except he can't tell what others are thinking and he can only kind of tell how his closest friends r feeling. so right now bart pretty much doesn't have powers! he can communicate w the warpers and sea emps much easier than the others tho (he's the only one that can talk to warpers! im not sure he'd get along w them after being hunted down by them for like 12 years though KABDLSBRLSHD)
avery has telepathy! this is because when he first shows up he jokes about having telepathy and i was like "haha. WAIT." and then he got telepathy! i realize its a bad idea to not come up with their powers until as im writing but uhhh well. i never said i was a fantastic writer who's smart. KANROSHROSBF.
he also kind of had marg's empathy ability but wayyy dialed back. he can only tell how other humans are feeling and he can only vaguely understand it as opposed to feeling the emotions himself like marg does. so he can kind of tell how others are feeling and he can tell what theyre thinking about! unless of course for plot convince he can't. strong emotions, especially strong negative emotions (ie. fear) can overwhelm him and makes his powers stop working. and if someone is convinced they're right then he wont b able to tell they're lying/hiding something! yay plot convenience!!
roman has night vision. i have no way of making this sound cool he just straight up can see really well in the dark. like a cat. most of the powers were based off where they originally landed and what would help them in that area! and roman landed in the sparse reef, which is so dark all the time i cry thinking about it. so he has night vision! his poor eyesight is probably all kinds of fucked up now tho.
jochi has regeneration abilities! now i know this might sound a bit much but he just heals from cuts and stuff faster and like. he bones heal fast. and he's more likely to survive smth that might usually kill someone, but its like a 10% higher chance of living nothing too much. he doesn't rlly get scars as much as the others, and its healed his old ones a bit more! this is by far the most unrealistic power of them all, but ya know its alien fish planet game who cares. basically bc his life support systems failed his spine got all fucked up and he got infected faster bc he was barely alive for the first few days and spent a lot of time w bart who was looking after him. power helped fix his back, but he still has a rlly bad limp and pretty much constant pain. big mood there khasar 😔✊
emily can detect electromagnetic waves! works best underwater. kind of like ryley's, but instead of hearing noises she can only hear anything electric, like vehicles or ampeels or heartbeats. gets all fucked up during thunderstorms though sadly. she's the only other one that can kind of hear warpers and can tell when ones about to warp around but she cant actually talk back to them. pretty sick if u ask me tho.
danby has p similar powers to her bc ampeels also spawn in the bulb zone. except he can sense them at a much smaller distance, cant hear warpers, and can control the waves around him! mostly just his own tho. so like, he can quiet his heartbeat or make it stop all together. scary power that he does not know how to control. uh oh. but he can also control other creatures a bit! he's very good at hiding bc of this, which is nice bc he loves to hide from scary things. very big mood once again.
milo is glowing powers! looks a lot like the transparency of a ghost levi or a crabsquid, although he isn't as see through as them. you can def make out like veins but not bones or organs. his powers are activated by touch, the more force behind will create more glow and more transparency! a poke = goes away within a few seconds, a slap = stays for a minute or so. instead of bruises, he just glows until the bruise would normally go away. he's basically a living glowstick. i have another joke for this but i cannot physically convince myself to type it bc its some shit emily would say to him and i cannot embarrass him like that LABDLABDKABAKD
andd ryley's super hearing! can hear basically everything within a mile radius at all times. im bad at math and i don't know the metric system but i think that's like around 1k meters. wait does the metric system use mile already. no. ONCE AGAIN NEVER SAID I WAS SMART.
OK ANYWAYS back on track! this means he can hear about half of the crater at all times. he's gotten p good at blocking out background noise and anything far away. typically only hears everything within like 300 meters of himself. so when he does get back to just hearing everything its like. u ever take out headphones in a busy place and everything kinda hurts for a few seconds bc its so much noise. yeah like that but 500x worse. he's able to concentrate on specific areas within this 1 mile field but if its far away it fucks him up good for a lil while. sorry ryley :(
and then the other two degasi! as mentioned before, paul can carry enzyme like the peepers, but he also can kind of make some himself! only small amounts and it works a bit less than the peeper enzyme does. he does not have to cough it up though thankfully it just like. idk how to describe this idea it can just kind of leave through his skin?? he has like no control over his power at all it just kind does its own thing and he deals w it. this is primarily how he and marg survive for so long w/o dying to kharra!
and finally marguerit! highly empathetic abilities that allow her to feel the emotions of anything around her! i thought it would be funny as hell to give MARGUERIT of all ppl Big Emotion Disease. this is a big reason why she has had yet to murder paul and why she's a lot less murderer like in the au. its hard to kill someone if you. you know. can feel exactly what they are. probably the reason she adopted Dog Bart/Legally Preston Emotionally Not. saw sad puppy and felt too bad to leave him. like paul, she has basically no control over it and is one of the reasons she does NOT want to go back to the survivors base and be around so many other ppl, she'd be feeling like, 13 ppl's emotions at one time. all these powers have fucked up drawbacks dont they??
once again sam, robin, jeff, maxim, and ozzy are (for now at least) not gonna have any powers! mutations are weird and ozzy just didn't get anything, and the vesper haven't been sick long enough for any yet!
OK THATS ALL. HOLY SHIT SORRY FOR YELLING FOR 15 MINUTES. GOT CARRIED AWAY. hopefully that explains everything tho OABEOABROANRJS OK BYE MY PHONE IS ALMOST DEAD

diary entries of roy endoza
here’s some journal entries of roy endoza that i wrote for the duration of the campaign. for the most part, i kinda wrote these in my twitter drafts just to write down roy’s thoughts. sometimes to remember events that happened, and sometimes just to vent out roy’s feelings to myself. i ended up saving these on a document for safe keeping and i’m glad i wrote these.
‪entry 47‬
‪i miss milo so much. his laugh, his eyes, his smile. i would do anything to have that back.‬ ‪i know its my fault he’s gone. its only been a few months, but i’ll fix that; all of it. no matter how long it takes, no matter what happens. i’ll find some way to do it.‬ ‪entry 53‬ ‪i’ve retrieved a letter from a dream telling me to visit latham and retrieve a key. i’m curious, so i’ll check it eventually. it was definitely odd.‬ ‪entry 55‬ ‪i met a young boy. his name is fox. he’s some sort of shapeshifter. he’s quiet, but his presence is nice company. he also received a similar letter to mine. i have a feeling we’ll be travelling for a while.‬ ‪entry 62‬ ‪we retrieved the key & met some other ppl with letters too. we’re heading to a trinket store back in origin now. i dont wish for them to know of my life so i’ve found a way to steer them as far from possible to finding out about myself. i’ll probably visit ma too.‬ ‪entry 63‬ ‪an elf woman named leera attacked us after i told her i wasnt going to give her this key. i dont like her. she seemed very cocky.‬ ‪entry 65‬ ‪delilah is kind.. i feel like i’m able to trust her. i asked her a question about my goals, vaguely, and it turns out that ayce asked a similar question. based on the message in his later i get the feeling he’s undead.‬ ‪entry 66‬ ‪i told ayce the biggest con in all of history.. but i confirmed he’s undead. i have more hope in my goals now that i know its possible. he hugged me bc he thinks we’re similar. i dont usually allow people to do that but i’m sad for him. i wish i could ask more about him. ‬‪entry 69‬ ‪i’m getting closer to ayce, unexpectedly, but good for me. i need his information.‬ ‪he talks to me a lot about his life; i think he’s become dependent on me which is easy for me. its hard for him to see i’m using him when i lie to his face.‬ ‪entry 72‬ ‪we’re travelling to copper coast now for another key. if it werent for ayce, i wouldnt see any other reason for me to come. fox is still around, but i feel like he's doing his own thing. the other two arent big presences for me to care about.‬ ‪entry 73‬ ‪atlas is a werewolf? i didnt think those were real. this group keeps getting stranger. first a shapeshifter, second an actual living zombie, third a werewolf.‬ ‪ive continued my lie to the rest of them. they all seem to have believed me, strangely enough‬ ‪entry 74‬ ‪copper coast was very pleasant. i wish to come back someday.‬ ‪entry 88‬ ‪this trip to clandesteine has been a disaster.. what the honest fuck‬ just happened ‪entry 90‬ ‪fox told everybody about himself, finally. i feel this huge sense of pride?? i’m very proud of him. i dont understand why i feel so attached to him but i adore him so much‬ ‪entry 92‬ ‪((incoherent scribbles, kinda like “vsdjfsasifwnqkosdkv”)) i think i accidentally implied to ayce that i love him romantically and i think he loves me too... i’m freaking out and i dont know how to react... i think he thinks i’m cool and romantic but i didnt mean to be. ‪entry 93‬ in all honesty, i just wanted to tell him he needs to be more cautious of me. a part of me wishes he could figure it out himself so i dont have to tell him. ‪seriously! i dont know how i did that! i do love and adore him too but i feel like shit.. i dont deserve him, especially considering who i am. on the other hand, i hope he never finds out the truth about me.‬ ‪entry 94‬ ‪oh my god. atlas killed a man and ayce and fox proceeded to tell the guards. i feel sick. i’m currently at home but if they say my name at witness testimony i’m royally fucked. i dont know. i might just run for it and live in myr’s peak. maybe no one will find me.‬ ‪entry 95‬ ‪the group managed to get bailed out using ty’s name. benefits of being friends with rich people?‬ ‪fox found my poster though, so he saved my name during eyewitness testimony. i told him the truth. its been the first time i told someone how i really felt. he wants me to tell ayce but hes the last person i can tell. ‪entry 97‬ ‪we’re in lunarden! it feels nostalgic to be back.
i want to go back to every place i miss. i took ayce to that me and nori used to go to back in high school. i think shes currently performing in solardome? i miss her‬ entry 97.2 ‪i came up with a few different ways to complete my goal. i have a few more probing questions, but i will have to ask later. i think i’m getting closer to the answers‬ entry ‪97.3‬ ((scribbled out)) ‪i havent had sex in a while. i’ve wondered this before but realized it was an inappropriate question to ask. i wonder if ayce’s dick works? it probably doesnt. this is so sad. i dont know how i’m going to fuck him if thats true.. yikes‬ ‪entry 98‬ ‪i’m planning to get completely smashed once we get to solardome. i feel like i deserve it.. ive been pretty stressed and havent got laid. i’m crying remembering that ayce might not even be an option.‬ ‪entry 98.2 ((lost)) ‪i love ayce so much, and its confusing. am i just sexually frustrated? am i just lonely? am i just sad? i feel guilty because it tears me apart. im confused because i love milo still, too. i know i should tell him the truth, its whats right but i know he’ll hate me. i dont know what to do. (extra note inbetween the pages, torn out: to mom. i love you venhfrhdy mcuh. thank you fir everhything. yes. roy.) entry 98.3 what happens if i succeed? i hope ayce doesnt kill me. entry 100 ‪good morning. ayce & i are officially dating. were in solardome atm; i dont remember much of last night but i remember thinking he‘s beautiful. is it wrong to fall for him?‬ ‪entry 101‬ ‪good evening. i saw ms winters. she was undead, just like ayce. she died a year ago. her soul was lost though. i killed what remained of her undead corpse. i assume she was trying to remain in this world.. i’m scared that this will happen to him too. maybe ill have to do the same to him. entry 101.2 i hope ayce's soul is able to sustain in his body for longer. i cant afford to lose him. entry 101.3 ‪the blackness on my fingers has risen up more than it has before. its almost hard to write with my hands anymore. i assume its bc the gods know what i'm doing & are against it, so they're trying to give me more recoil than usual. but the last time i killed an undead corpse was in my house 6 months ago, and i promise that the last time i will use it is when i bring milo back. (torn note inbetween the pages: hi ayce. its unrealistic you'll ever find this but there's some things i want to say. back when we first met, i lied to you as a reflex when you asked me why i'm dealing with necromancy. to be honest, i could kind of gather you were undead, but i still lied anyway. my story is personal, its hard for me to be honest. i know i'm an idiot, and i'm sorry i used you. to be truthful, i still am a horrible person and for the entirety of our relationship i've already known that i was using you and i've felt so guilty about that. my feelings are complicated, but i've never lied when i said i loved you, and i still do; but i still want to bring milo back. i made a mistake and i want to fix that. the truth is that i still love him too. i know you deserve better. i'm sorry about lying to you. roy) entry 102 a dragon made us experience our dreams and nightmares. jade's scared of blindness and bugs. a valid fear, in a way. and she was dreaming of doing shows. i think it was supposed to display a feeling of happiness and joy, but it was just spooky since we all experienced her dreams with no sound. i never realized how scary it was to be deaf until i experienced it. atlas' was morbid. people were dying and there was so much gore. then there were people saying they owned him. i knew he was a bad person but it was scary to see all of that again. he dreamt of a workshop with a girl and a young boy. it seemed sweet, with a tinge of nostalgia. i would have never expected him to have dreams. he just seems like a horrible person with no sympathy to me, but i guess he has feelings. i still think he should go to jail, but i feel like he'll just try to kill me if i say anything instead. fox's was sad. we got thrown into a void
of empty space where we were surrounded only by dopplegangers and a vaguely humanoid figure. he seemed so lonely and upset. he's scared of being forgotten by us and that made me so sad. i adore him, and he's grown a lot since we first met. i gave him a hug when we went into his dream sequence. i hope he knows i will never forget him. his dream was sweet. he just wants to save people and hang out with us still. i think he'll go far, and i would love to be there for him still when all of this is over.c (the rest of the pages with entry 102 are torn out) when i saw milo in the old house again just being his happy lovely self i felt miserable and happy at the same time. i love him so much, and i knew i missed him already but seeing him again just made me feel so much love for him all over again. it just makes me miss him more. it's hard not to cry thinking about what i've done to him. i wish he could come back. ayce's was hard to watch. i witnessed myrkul force ayce to choose between killing me and quri. ayce cried as he couldn't make up his mind, and then i watched as i fell into a void. i felt sick and i wanted to puke. i thought ayce found out about me. i thought he knew that i was using him for necromancy, but when i asked him about it, he told me that he thought i killed him with quri. i... personally don't have any reason to ever kill him so that was a bit sickening to think of. i dont ever want to kill anyone. i dont even have anyone i hate enough to want to murder. the only person i hate enough to want to kill is me. i know based on what i said before i guess it might have seemed that bad; but haha... i would never ever want to do that. putting people down at hospital was rough. god, putting ms winters down was rough and she was already dead. i love him, but it's probably better if we end the relationship and just stay as friends? he's already witnessed me still loving milo, and he thinks i murdered him... i'll try to clear up his misunderstanding, but it'll be hard to without giving more of myself away. this relationship has so many problems. entry 103 a new discovery. the world isn't flat? the god's are using their powers to “lock off” the rest of the world. apparently sanctuary is only a small part of the world. that was a really weird discovery to find out? it's kind of hard to believe, but at the same time, not. apparently they keys we've been collecting hold the respective power of the gods, and they're used to “open” the gateway. i have no idea what that means. apparently beshaba wants to use our keys to do exactly that. and also they can kill the god's? entry 112 when we came back to lunarden we discovered that delilah and allen were kidnapped by atlas’ syndicate. i knew atlas was trouble. i hate having to associate with him. we’re going to save them yet it makes me nervous. entry 114 i feel like i almost died in there. we saved the others and no one was hurt though. we’re going to trip back to lunarden and then travel through the travel gates back to origin to try avoid people. allen mentioned something about strange readings. i have a feeling i know what it is. i’m going to ask lathandar questions. entry 115 nvm we encountered leera. this group genuinely scares me. I’m travelling with people who are down with murder. i should seperate. she uncovered my posters to them and i want to die. she also mentioned the last key at a ball. i need to bounce. lathandar also confirmed my suspicions last night. entry 116 fox left before i could. i feel bad. like maybe it was my fault. i miss him. we have to continue though. entry 117 its so hard to find a bag of holding. i just want to have this spirit stone around without having it in the open. entry 118 we’re in origin now and delilah let me rent out her bag of holding. an absolute kind soul. we bought tickets to the ball. so expensive. i wish i didnt do that. entry 123 i’ve done so much in preperation of whats to come. Soon. i hope it works. i’m going to travel to solardome and investigate those readings. entry 124 suspicions
confirmed. miss winters is alive. she captured my biological father. a strange way to meet him. i cant see him as my father. i told her about the key, and we’re going to rearrange our circle. we’ll still use the spirit stones, just as a backup. i’m scared. i’m terrified. i dont know if it will work and i dont know what will happen if it does. i know the gods will be mad but i’ll deal with the consequences when it happens. i’m sure i won’t be a champion anymore. we’re doing this on friday evening, which means i’m no longer attending the gala. they don’t need my assistance anyway.

half hearted
well, hello. it has been an embarrassingly long time and well, i can explain (kind of). i was sent lots of requests, which was wonderful don’t get me wrong! as I was writing I realised it wasn’t great, and my spark was not as it always is. so, I took a break. i went to reading festival (saw bas and that just made me alive again) my creativity is back, inspiration is blooming and im in a good space.
thank you for the unbelievable patience, this is the start of a requested piece from an anon, i have two more requests after this. then I will continue this one along with another piece I wrote a few weeks ago.
i hope you enjoy and that you’re doing well. if you ever want to talk, my messages are open or send an anon, i love talking to you all as you guys are wonderful :)
collection of my writing /  two /  three / four / five / six / seven (last)
At some stage in life everyone meets someone online, in most cases they fizzle out after a few months, or you can easily lose touch with that person, but not with Dan. It’s weird when I think back to a time when we didn’t talk everyday, when he didn’t ask how I was after a lecture or how he was after some rehearsals. I have had friends online, they come, they go. My friends have tried online dating, but nothing sincere developed, but with Dan it feels genuine- despite the fact that we have never met, and I do not know his last name.
It can be alarming for some to hear of such a tightly knitted friendship that only occurs through messages and phone calls. We just power through the times when we are in different timezones, when he is travelling for his music. Between the two of us there have been so many lows and highs, but we balance each other out, that’s what makes it work.
A whole year of being friends, a whole year and we still haven’t been able to meet. The main issue is time, and our personal schedules always clash. I could be at home, and he could be in Spain doing a show. Or he could have the day off and I’d be in lectures all day long. Sometimes I think it’s pointless hoping to meet him, to actually see the person I’ve been talking to despite others worries about the mysterious stranger I’ve never met.
Dan is sweet, he is caring unlike others I’ve met in person. There is no need to have a filter with him, we can simply talk about life, about anything and we aren’t worried about what the other would think. Talking to him is an open book, you’ll never know what you’ll see, but sometimes I wish we could talk, face to face.
“Will you ever meet this ‘Dan’.” Turning to face my friend she used air quotes for his name, she’s never been able to fathom the concept and how I am perfectly fine opening up to someone I don’t know who merely claims to be in a band and tours all over the world. “I mean, it’s been a year and you’ve never even skyped or FaceTimed, what if he’s a creep. Or a pervert, or-”
Standing still I just groan loudly, “You’ve made your point.” I simply state and she just places her hands on her hips, clearly unamused. “I don’t know when, but it’ll happen, so stop badgering me.” We leave it at that, she knows it’s a difficult subject as Dan is partially one of the reasons why me and my ex boyfriend broke up.
Dylan and I were in a rough place, neither of wanted to admit it so we just kept it quiet. The more I started to talk to Dan on a daily basis, the more irritated he got and started to get mad at me for speaking to another guy. Yet, in a matter of weeks I had found out he’d been cheating on me with numerous girls in his degree which quickly ended our relationship. During this time I talked to Dan like there was not a single issue, I never mentioned Dylan to him, it’s like he never existed.
As we walk back to our flat I hear my phone go off, immediately I pick it up from my pocket and smile at the message. “I’ll leave you two to chat then.” She winks to me before she goes back into her own room, leaving me in our hallway.
‘how’re you today?’
‘been better, my friends keep asking about you so nothing new’
‘what’re they asking?’
‘oh the usual, if you’re a creep or a catfish’
‘right’
‘it’s only because we’ve never met, they are only looking out for me, don’t dwell on it Dan. so, how’s rehearsals?’
I wanted the conversation to quickly move on, so I went into my room and lie on my bed. Whilst I wait for a response I can see the sun setting through the apartment blocks, how it peaks and glares on the glass that covers over a third of the brick work. Sometimes I wish I could be with him to witness these kind of sunsets, the ones where you can feel the warmth descending for another night, when you need a blanket wrapped around your shoulders or someone to just hold, someone.
Snapping out of it my phone starts to ring, casting my eyes from the muted orange tones of the sky I pick my phone up immediately, swiping it and holding it to my ear as I move to stand by my window. “Hey,” I speak with a smile across my face, one I wish he could see. “everything alright?”
“It’s good to hear your voice.” He muttered as I heard some commotion in the background, “Sorry, bit of a weird time to be calling you,” I could hear him apologising to multiple people as the noise decreased, he was in a quieter spot. “We just finished soundcheck, so I thought I’d give you a ring.” Licking my lips the curiosity couldn’t be denied, I always want to hear him sing, perform to me someday. One can simply dream for now, that’s all I do.
“How’s it going? Also where are you now?” I am never able to keep track of him, he is never in the same place for more than two days whilst I can never leave. Part of me wonders if our paths have in fact crossed, yet we’ve been too oblivious to it all.
A door closes and I can hear him moving again, even on the phone he is never able to sit still for more than two minutes. Yet I happily stand here admiring the sunset, thinking about the person the voice belongs to by my side. “We’re in Italy, you’d love it here. Someday, maybe we could see it together.” His voice faltered at the end of his sentence, a habit he has when he refers to the two of us as being ‘together.’
After almost a year neither of us are sure what to consider this friendship, as it feels more than another friendship. It differs to the relationship I had with Dylan, to the best friends I have grown up with and here at University. With Dan there aren’t any boundaries, but I fear it is because we simply haven’t met. There has not been that opportunity to spend all day together in person, to get used to each others flaws or bad habits. Maybe that is what makes this friendship ideal, we can simply hang up or not reply when we need space.
Both of us hesitated in the silence that loomed down the empty line, neither fully knowing how to make a dignified response. I want to speak up, try and provide some false hope that we will meet someday, but after a year of talking it feels like a distant and unrealistic dream.
We quickly move the conversation on, and before I know it he has to go, as always. “Gig is starting in twenty, but I’ll talk to you tomorrow, yeah?” I can hear the hope in his tone, the thick accent laced with that light spark of want, a craving almost.
Sitting up on my bed I can see the sun is long gone, instead it is replaced by thick clouds and a single sheet of velvet pin pricked with diamonds forming patterns behind the thinner puffs of cotton. “What’s it like, where you are?”
I can hear some commotion as voices sound, giving orders and directions to various people including him. He pants lightly down the line before pausing. The sound of wind fills my ears, somewhere else whilst the wind is stand still here. I wrap my arm around myself, immersing myself there as he describes it to me. “It’s clear skies tonight, we are performing in an outdoor venue so I have to wear a jumper. The kind of night where goosebumps form too easily, where the crowds huddle together in the music and enjoy the warmth. I wish you could see the stars, how bright they’re flickering as if they’re trying to wink, wish us luck.” I smile to myself at his descriptions, each different from the last.
“Goodnight Dan, and good luck.” Before he has a chance to respond someone yells for him, he mutters a quick goodbye and then I am left in my own company, simply thinking about him once again, wondering how it must be.
A gentle knock on my door catches my attention as it creaks open. Turning around I see my friend, holding up my favourite blanket. “You’d probably want this, it’s going to be a cold night and our heating is still broken.” Half sighing in response I take it from her, before throwing it over my shoulders. “Wanna talk about it?” She sits down next to me on my carpet, the once cream now stained, turning slightly darker and discoloured.
“It’s getting harder.” I state quietly, unsure how to express the matter. “I don’t, I don’t want to let go, but I can’t keep it up. The distance, the fact that I haven’t met him. He is a name, a voice and a profession.” Shaking my head I bury my head in my hands, concealing the loose tears in my eyes.
She rubs my back supportingly as I collapse into her lap, silently sobbing as my shoulders shake. “Tell him.” She speaks up above my deafening pain, “Simply tell him how you feel. That you’re struggling to keep it up, I mean did you ever talk about Dylan?” Keeping myself still I simply shake my head, resulting in a heavy sigh from her as my eyes remain shut.
“How could I? Dylan and me were almost done anyway, why bring him up?” My mind remained clouded like the night sky as I sit back up, my eyes blurring for a second before focusing on her concerned expression.
Rubbing her face she removes the black that clings to her under eyes, something that heavily grips to every crevice under mine too many times, too many. “You didn’t want him thinking there was someone else, did you? Even then you knew, Dylan knew and we all knew that this Dan was more than an internet friend.” Hearing her say it aloud, I saw it all. I saw the breakup with Dylan, how I cried all night over him, but Dan was keeping my spirits high in between sobs unknowingly. “Admit it. You like him, and that is why you want to meet him, you want to meet the person who makes you a better version of yourself, who picks you up like no one else does.”
Words were at a loss as my mouth felt like lead, my mind was racing at the possibilities of what she was saying to be correct, but my heart knew more than my mind did. I knew what she was saying was true, sometimes I would shun it out after he helped me get to sleep with a late night phone call as he would be waking up. The time when he couldn’t do anything, when the creativity had just drained itself from him I made him laugh, laugh wholeheartedly and we shared stories of our childhoods.
With Dan it wasn’t like anything else, I’d never been so open, so honest about myself. My guard isn’t held up, I dread our goodbyes as I am left like this, wrapped in a blanket for one wishing it was him hugging me. “I want to meet him.” Lifting my head from her lap I sit upright and I run my sleeve across my nose as she wipes the tears from my cheeks. “I want to meet Dan. Not in another year, but soon. Whatever it takes, I can’t risk it anymore.”
“Finally!” She claps loudly and I laugh lightly, “Right, when his gig is over call him. Speak to him and arrange something. If he is as determined as you then you’ll find a way. All of those who are destined to meet do. It’s written in the stars.” I pull a face to her, and she simply shoves me lightly. “You know what I mean, and you’re the one who is usually all poetic.”
Standing up she walks out of my room, leaving me with the blanket and the chill that hangs in the winter air. Before I have a chance to thank her she already knows, she closes my door and I pick my phone up, holding it in my hands. Two hours, two hours and I’ll know.
I’ll finally meet Dan.
