It was at night that they came for you, always at night.
The proper thing was to kill yourself before they got you. Undoubtedly some people did so. Many of the disappearances were actually suicides.
But it needed desperate courage to kill yourself in a world where firearms, or any quick and certain poison, were completely unprocurable.
He thought with a kind of astonishment of the biological uselessness of pain and fear, the treachery of the human body which always freezes into inertia at exactly the moment when a special effort is needed.

who: @ameliajbones where: her office, the ministry when: january 2nd, midmorning
James had left his flat early that morning and stopped by the bank before work. He was angry. Furious, even. He wanted his paperwork. He wanted evidence that what Dumbledore had done to his loved ones went beyond immoral, that it was illegal as well. It didn’t occur to him until after he was standing in the vault and there was nothing but piles of gold that he didn’t have any paperwork yet. He hadn’t even put in the filing cabinet yet. That wouldn’t come until his father...
Frustrated but unable to tell the goblin with him what the problem was, he shoved a few handfuls of coins into his pockets and had headed to work. He’d gone straight to Amelia Bones’ office, only to find her not there yet. It was frustrating. He went off to the aurors’ department. He found the training tedious at best, since he was nearly two years further back in the curriculum than he had been when he went into hiding. He ended up faking that he had food poisoning to slack off and keep checking Amelia’s office.
Finally, he arrived and the door was cracked. He knocked on the wooden door frame. “Do you have a moment?” He stopped then, realizing he had no idea what to ask her. He had no way of knowing if she remembered, after all. He chewed on his bottom lip a moment as he thought. “I have a legal question. Hypothetically speaking. How many witnesses would I need to testify to the existence of a contract that is...unprocurable, for it to be enforceable?” Yes, that was the best way to describe his will. Unprocurable. The fact that it didn’t exist yet mattered much less than the fact that he didn’t have it in his hands.

Alexander Louis Teixeira de Mattos, 1865-1921
Here’s our man. Responsible for the first English language translation of Le Fantôme de l'Opéra in 1911. The man who gave us “hops jolly high!” and “you great booby” but also cut out approximately 100 pages of our beloved story. I thought I’d pull out the most interesting details from his Wikipedia page. There must be some untold story as to why he made the cuts that he did. Was is pressure from some editor? Was it his own personal sensibilities that were offended by some of Erik’s best lines? I really hope that in some dusty drawer somewhere there is an angry letter from Gaston himself cursing up a storm about his handling of Erik in the English language. Although Leroux may not have ever noticed.
Fun Facts according to Wikipedia:
“Teixeira was fluent in English, French, German, Flemish, Dutch, and Danish.”
[Quite impressive!]
“Teixeira was the leading translator for the Lutetian Society, a group whose mission was 'to issue to its members, translations of such representative master-pieces of fiction by Continental authors as are unprocurable in English in an unmutilated rendering.’"
[Major side-eye here!]
“He married Lily Wilde, née Sophie Lily Lees (1859-1922), the widow of Oscar Wilde's older brother Willie Wilde and thus became the stepfather of Dolly Wilde.”
[ Dolly Wilde, who later became a somewhat famous socialite in her time.]
“He was politically liberal and a devout Catholic.”
[Though his family was of ancient Jewish descent, he was raised Dutch Protestant and later converted to Catholicism. I wonder what influence his religious faith may have had over his censoring of Le Fantôme de l'Opéra? I wonder how he got along with Dolly?]
“Teixeira was known to his acquaintances as a dandy...”
[So, he was more of a Raoul.]
“The New York Times, in its obituary notice, called him ‘one of the best translators of foreign languages of the present generation.’”
[Again, side eye. I do love the manic tone of the de Mattos POTO translation. But the censoring and hacking of the original is just unforgiveable. I wonder if he did that to any other works?]
Ok, now get ready for some pedantic rambling:
Names and Nationalities
He had a beautiful Portuguese name. But he wasn’t really Portuguese. He was born Dutch and died a British subject. The Teixeira de Mattos Sampaio e Mendes families in the Netherlands are of Portuguese Jewish origin. Large numbers of Portuguese Jews fled to Amsterdam in the 1500′s due to intense religious persecution, so it’s possible his family had been in the Netherlands for hundreds of years, yet still maintained their Portuguese surnames. All of them.
It’s hard to find out details on his parents, but it looks like his father’s name was Jacques Teixeira de Mattos. I couldn’t find out anything about his mother except that she was English. All of “Teixeira de Mattos” comes from his father, and his wife Sophie took on both names as well. So, we should probably be talking about the Teixeira de Mattos translation. Teixeira is a pretty intimidating word for English speakers (hint: the X is the English “SH”). For what it’s worth, his Wiki page calls him just “Teixeira”. But also, I don’t think it’s a really big deal. Is it as bad as cutting out 100 pages from Le Fantôme de l'Opéra? No, no it is not.

What is the Nuremburg Code?
The Nuremberg Code is the most important document in the history of the ethics of medical research.1-6 The Code was formulated 50 years ago, in August 1947, in Nuremberg, Germany, by American judges sitting in judgment of Nazi doctors accused of conducting murderous and torturous human experiments in the concentration camps (the so-called Doctors' Trial).7 It served as a blueprint for today's principles that ensure the rights of subjects in medical research.
The Nuremburg code is as follows:
1.The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential.
This means that the person involved should have legal capacity to give consent; should be so situated as to be able to exercise free power of choice, without the intervention of any element of FORCE, FRAUD, DECEIT, DURESS, OVERREACHING, or other ulterior form of CONSTRAINT or COERCION; and should have sufficient knowledge and comprehension of the elements of the subject matter involved as to enable him to make an understanding and enlightened decision. This latter element requires that before the acceptance of an affirmative decision by the experimental subject there should be made known to him the nature, duration, and purpose of the experiment; the method and means by which it is to be conducted; all inconveniences and hazards reasonably to be expected; and the effects upon his health or person which may possibly come from his participation in the experiment.
The duty and responsibility for ascertaining the quality of the consent rests upon each individual who initiates, directs or engages in the experiment. It is a personal duty and responsibility which may not be delegated to another with impunity.
2. The experiment should be such as to yield fruitful results for the good of society, unprocurable by other methods or means of study, and not random and unnecessary in nature.
3. The experiment should be so designed and based on the results of animal experimentation and a knowledge of the natural history of the disease or other problem under study that the anticipated results will justify the performance of the experiment.
4. The experiment should be so conducted as to avoid all unnecessary physical and mental suffering and injury.
5. No experiment should be conducted where there is an a priori reason to believe that death or disabling injury will occur; except, perhaps, in those experiments where the experimental physicians also serve as subjects.
6. The degree of risk to be taken should never exceed that determined by the humanitarian importance of the problem to be solved by the experiment.
7. Proper preparations should be made and adequate facilities provided to protect the experimental subject against even remote possibilities of injury, disability, or death.
8. The experiment should be conducted only by scientifically qualified persons. The highest degree of skill and care should be required through all stages of the experiment of those who conduct or engage in the experiment.
9. During the course of the experiment the human subject should be at liberty to bring the experiment to an end if he has reached the physical or mental state where continuation of the experiment seems to him to be impossible.
10. During the course of the experiment the scientist in charge must be prepared to terminate the experiment at any stage, if he has probable cause to believe, in the exercise of the good faith, superior skill, and careful judgment required of him, that a continuation of the experiment is likely to result in injury, disability, or death to the experimental subject.

Decided to update my leaks infographic...(since I care about this line possibly more than any one person has the right to) and speculation is just fun! Going back to 2018, Target and Gamestop's systems have both shown the names of unrevealed figures, so I took it upon myself to gather the character art. Then a Dutch retailer posted an entire wave of figures (with art) that have yet to see the light of day. It's worth noting that the same retailer had some 2.5" and playsets that came true. Amazon listings come and go, and the ones that didn't happen yet are either deleted or listed as "unprocurable" so who knows? While GameStop's record is quite good, there are many figures left up in the air and only Young Link and Splatoon 2 boy have been corroborated by 2 sources. I do know retailers don't add listings and make things up just for fun. It's safe to say these are or were on Jakks' radar at some point. And I really hope most of them release eventually! Which of these would you like to see most? https://www.instagram.com/p/B9mqDJoJ5BP/?igshid=1i8v2x49wfs34

The Leaders of the Landslide - Request for the High-Rank Crew of the Erebus
As we buzz for The Breach and people get their character ideas rolling, I wanted to toss this wanted ad out in the hopes of drawing in a second and third lieutenant. These roles will be important to several of the site’s plot lines, and will interact with many other characters. Please take these if you plan to stick around and see the plot lines through!
If you have any ideas or questions, feel free to dm me on discord! chanandler bong#7777
001. THE CAPTAIN 55 // ANATOLE RENAUD // NPC
Sleeping Beauty
The Captain was the ideal head of the Erebus. Strong, capable, and experienced, there wasn’t a smidge of doubt as to whether or not he was fit for the position. Unfortunately, fate had other plans for him, and with only a few weeks into the journey, the Captain was gravely injured and is indefinitely in a coma… not that the passengers are aware of that.
002. THE EXECUTIVE OFFICER OSCAR ISAAC // 40 // NICHOLAS REEVES // PLAYED BY MONTY
A Divisive Choice
After serving for many years in the military as a commanding officer and air pilot, Nicholas Reeves was awarded several medals for acts of bravery and service in the face of danger before being promoted to General at the end of his duty. Unfortunately, his wife met a sorrier fate at the end of the conflict, and Reeves had little idea of what to do with his life. Left with little idea of how to move on, he signed up to serve with ARCo. and was quickly promoted through the ranks thanks to his military experience.
Despite having not gone on the previous ARCo. mission, Reeves was chosen as the executive officer for the Erebus due to his prestigious military rankings and the marketability of his experience to the general public. This caused many heads to turn, especially within the ranks of those who had actually served on the previous mission.
Reeves had planned to shadow his Captain for the five year journey in the hopes of being promoted to captain himself in the future, and had no expectation of leading the group himself at any point soon. When the Captain was injured, however, leadership fell in Reeves’ lap, which has only heightened tensions within the highest ranks. He’s just doing his best, though - truly.
003. THE QUARTERMASTER HENRY CAVILL // 38 // AMBROSE LAPIN // PLAYED BY SAV
The Master of Bedside Manner
A never-do-well that somehow ended up on the right side of history, Ambrose had his start as a smuggler turned mercenary during the North Passage Conflict. Shortly afterwards, he was employed as a Panocorps captain during the first voyage to CERES VII. Possessing an uncanny ability to recognize opportunity and to procure the unprocurable. He seized the opportunity to serve as quartermaster to return with the skeleton crew back to earth. Brusque, Very French™️, cunning, beleaguered.
004. THE SECOND OFFICER (OPERATIONS) (ALL SUGGESTED) MING-NA WEN // 54 // OPEN NAME // OPEN
The Skeptic
The SL was an original traveller with ARCo. and has been among the ranks since the very first whisper of space travel. For years, she has done her job diligently and without complaint, thinking that this would see her rocketing through the ranks within a few years. Despite her hard work, however, she’s found herself stuck at a rank that she doesn’t feel reflects her years of service.
When the Erebus was first announced, she and several others of the initially suggested crew assumed that she would be awarded the position of Executive Officer, which did not wind up being the case. The SL was passed over due hard feelings within the ARCo. staff and feelings that she would not market well to the passengers on board when attempting to draw in willing customers. This was something she was willing to live with, since she respected the Captain, and if she played her cards right, she rarely ever had to report to the Executive Officer.
Since the accident, though, tensions have been rising, specifically within the SL herself, who feels that Reeves should never have been handed command, and that she could do a better job of steering the titanic away from impending doom.
Some even believe she’s the one starting rumours of a mutiny.
005. THE FIRST LIEUTENANT (ALL SUGGESTED) LUPITA NYONG’O // 37 // OPEN NAME // OPEN
The Swing Vote
The TL is new to the ranks of the ARCo. team for the Erebus’ journey. Having served in the Northern Pass Conflict, the TL gained a good deal of military expertise and knowledge. She has an impressive resumé, spanning from her military service to a degree in physics, which has served her well.
She’s had less difficulty integrating into the crew than Reeves since she has less of a leadership position, but she still often feels as though she’s on the outskirts of many decisions. Her loyalties are split because of this, as she trusts the expertise of her higher-ups, but can empathize with the feelings of her fellow Lieutenants. For this reason, she’s often a swing-vote in many decisions and can be a wildcard in many situations.
It’s confusing, to be making decisions on a sinking ship.
006. LIEUTENANTS 2, 3, & 4 OPEN DETAILS!
There are three more lieutenant positions that will need to be decided by whichever player picks them up! If you have ideas and want to fill a spot, please contact me!

“Gunman’s Girl Gets Bail After 1 Month,” Toronto Star. March 4, 1932. Page 2. ---- Held With Salvation Army to Testify Against Jack Allen ---- Held for a month as a material witness against her fiance, Jack Allen, accused of attempted murder, Emma Wagjorne was granted $500 bail in women’s court to-day after considerable discussion.
‘I want bail for this girl - she has been held for a month now,’ said Thomas Horkins, when the case was called. ‘The Salvation Army has been keeping the girl, and that is not a jail.’ remarked Magistrate Patterson.
‘Nevertheless, she is in custody, she has not got her freedom,’ Mr. Horkins replied.
Crown Attorney Snyder asked $500 bail.
‘Make it $200,’ suggested Mr. Horkins.
‘Five hundred dollars is not exorbitant,’ said the crown.
‘It may not be exorbitant, but it may be unprocurable,’ replied counsel.
Restitution Promised ‘I suggest the court put this young lady on probation,’ said Harold Chaplan, counsel of Lizzie Buckley, who came up for sentence to-day on two charges of thefts from downtown stores.
‘Restitution must be made,’ ruled the bench. ‘It will be made,’ Mr. Chaplan assured the court.
‘And if it is not made she will be brought back,’ added Magistrate Patterson, putting Lizzie under a bond to keep out of both stores for a year.

This is what everybody should remember “LIFE IS A CIRCLE, HISTORY REPEATS ITSELF”
There are ten points to the code, which was published in the section of the verdict entitled “Permissible medical experiments”:
1. The voluntary consent of the human subject is a must. The duty and responsibility for ascertaining the quality of the consent rests upon each individual who initiates, directs, or engages in the experiment. It is a personal duty and responsibility which may not be delegated to another with impunity.
2. The experiment should be such as to yield fruitful results for the good of society, unprocurable by other methods or means of study, and not random and unnecessary in nature.
3. The experiment should be so designed and based on the results of animal experimentation and a knowledge of the natural history of the disease or other problem under study that the anticipated results will justify the performance of the experiment.
government mandate,mandates,illegal,legality,court system
10. During the course of the experiment the scientist in charge must be prepared to terminate the experiment at any stage, if he has probable cause to believe, in the exercise of the good faith, superior skill and careful judgment required of him that a continuation of the experiment is likely to result in injury, disability, or death to the experimental subject.

The concept rationale of the frame
Well, there are some film tells a story and I will use the film to tell an idea. The frame will be designed to illustrate the idea of the theme.
The person’s mind is restricted like a solid fixed round. There are all the things stuck inside.
Dissolve the circle loop of mind and give the mind a life like an unprocurable dream in the real life.
After the circle dissolved, the person realized that everything is flowing like water and waves. There is nothing physically exist. All the mind is about feeling and soul.
The film will try to pursue and discuss about what is real that we can’t see and what is fake that blinded us. I want to use montage to show the idea and the story line. For the frame, I need to use ink and water to create it.

The Nuremberg Trials (1945) They were also “just following orders” and they totally ignored the Nuremberg code which was created before WWII did start. See how they did end.And whether one does choose for a vaccine or not,our rights to work, live and travel how we choose is for all of us,they are basic human rights, and they should not depend on having had a shot or not.
The 10 points of The Nuremberg Code state this:
The voluntary consent of the human subject is absolutely essential.
The experiment should be such as to yield fruitful results for the good of society, unprocurable by other methods or means of study, and not random and unnecessary in nature.
The experiment should be so designed and based on the results of animal experimentation and a knowledge of the natural history of the disease or other problem under study that the anticipated results will justify the performance of the experiment.
The experiment should be so conducted as to avoid all unnecessary physical and mental suffering and injury.
No experiment should be conducted where there is an a priori reason to believe that death or disabling injury will occur; except, perhaps, in those experiments where the experimental physicians also serve as subjects.
The degree of risk to be taken should never exceed that determined by the humanitarian importance of the problem to be solved by the experiment.
Proper preparations should be made and adequate facilities provided to protect the experimental subject against even remote possibilities of injury, disability, or death.
The experiment should be conducted only by scientifically qualified persons. The highest degree of skill and care should be required through all stages of the experiment of those who conduct or engage in the experiment.
During the course of the experiment the human subject should be at liberty to bring the experiment to an end if he has reached the physical or mental state where continuation of the experiment seems to him to be impossible.
