Oh, @good-night-dodger I have some thoughts. Many thoughts, in fact. Thank you for tagging me in this, btw <3

Firstly, j’accuse re: leaving off the Alice and Olivia Crown sweater. Like so many things about Betty Cooper, it is  i c o n i c  on the show. Rude.

Secondly, j’accuse again re: the Rebecca Taylor polka dot sweater from 4x07 (and even more so imo, the short sleeved white with black polka dot one from 3x09. I’m upset.) 

Caveat: Going off their reasoning for these choices, I don’t think this person has actually ever watched Riverdale and if they did we absolutely watched two different shows. 

Putting this under a cut should folks not want to read my ramblings about Betty Cooper’s knitwear.

Other important things to note about this article. Let’s go by their rankings:

10/ Strong and White (really? plz, word choices are more important than ever)

“Her hair pulled back further makes the look scream innocent teenager who is pining for her long-time best friend and neighbor Archie Andrews. But while the sweater is cute, and one of her best, it's not as good as others Betty has worn.”

This is referring to light pink sweater with the lace collar that Betty wears in 1x11 when she is absolutely not in the process of pining for Archie. This is when she first admits out loud (also in front of Alice) that she is in love with Jughead and he is her family. Keep wishing, author person. 

9/ White Ribbed Sweater

1x04 is the episode where Betty interrogates Grundy for the first time. The sweater is not white but grey. A far superior option from this episode imo is the light pink Artizia Wolter sweater (y’all know how I feel about this one; it’s special)

8/ Turtleneck and Jacket Combo

This combo from 4x13 is not decidedly not a sweater? Fairly certain and @riverdaleclothing can confirm that the she’s wearing the Aritizia Freshman turtleneck which I own in several colors and do not consider a sweater. 

7/ Happy Holidays 

The person who wrote this might have some issues with identifying certain colors? (no shade, but as I read I grew more confused) They reference the holiday colors red, white and green in the sweater from but that is clearly blue? 2x19 is not a holiday episode. 

6/ Grandma’s Doilies 

I--I’m just going to leave you with their blurb: 

“The solid-colored, high round neck brings it together while the slightly puffy shoulders scream '80s working girl. It's one of Betty's more fun looks, which makes it worth adding to the list. But there are some dark undertones: while the color isn't exactly blood red, the pattern kind of does resemble splatters of blood, a nod to Betty's dark side and worry that she might possess the serial killer gene.”

5/ Horizontal stripes

It’s a nice sweater, but there are far more interesting, unique and superior knits our girl has worn over the seasons. What grates me again, the writing: 

“The best way to describe this sweater is pretty, a stark contrast to some of the terrible things Betty has done to people, including her own mother Alice.” 

Honey, we need to have words about Alice Cooper and her treatment of Betty. 

4/ Pretty in Pink V-Neck

I don’t completely disagree with this one from 4x10. The color is lovely! 

3/ Salmon Pink with Collar 

Full disclosure, I own this sweater from 2x10 in grey and it’s not cashmere. It’s nice, I like it, but I much prefer the Ted Baker magenta collared sweater from 2x17. 

2/ Baby Blue

We love a boatneck! Ms. Reinhart has some of the most envious décolletage out there. 

1/ Playful Plaid

I know this is from 4x18, but season four ended with 4x16 for me and I refuse to acknowledge this as a choice in this list. The fact that it’s their number with this statement:

“Another one of Betty's more playful looks, this plaid sweater offers a perfect balance between fun and seriousness.”

And yet they completely left off her Dinosaur from 4x06 and the duck sweater from 2x15, pffft. 

TLDR; there are far better choices of Betty Cooper knitwear to choose from than what’s on this list. 

I need the experts' opinion on this important topic. I feel like they missed some memorable ones, including the sweater with multicolored polka dots that Betty wore in season 4 and, of course, the crown sweater. I’m curious to know your thoughts @bettsc and @bettycooperoutfitwatch.

A) short sleeved sweaters keep you both warm and cool

B) well fitted bra plus a tight cropped sweater? Sign me up, y’all!

C) the collar would hide any *well placed love bites* if Jughead should run out of snacks and then turn his attention to his girlfriend who is a snacc
