SR! New Years Attire! Cloche
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summon:
“欢迎光临! いらっしゃいませ! Bienvenue! Willkommen! Please come in, dear customers!”
[Voicelines Below]
Groovy: [Locked]
Summon Line: I WAS apart of my old school’s student council, peer tutor program, theatre production… You think I can’t put on a fake smile here and there?
Home: Do it for the paycheque, do it for the paycheque-
Home Idle 1: If you ask me, New Years is where it’s at for big family celebrations. Hot pot, incense burning, all that ritual stuff. Annoying to clean up after, but the red pockets are worth it.
Home Idle 2: Truth be told, it’s my first time working a job. I have volunteered, but that’s all for a good university application.
Home Idle 3: Rice cakes are not all made equal. They can be sweet, savoury, and even spicy. People who can’t eat rice cakes plain have no taste. …Though daifuku is pretty good…
Home Idle Login: New Year’s resolutions are pretty pointless. Why not get started on that goal any other day? Past behaviour is a good indicator of future behaviour, after all.
Home Idle Groovy: [Locked]
Home Tap 1: Ah~ I get to see my beloved Master Rook working hard and stacking shelves! …But Master Jade’s blocking the view.
Home Tap 2: Kadomatsu, was it? I guess in my old home we did have something similar to that. It was just this tiny bunch of bamboo sprouts braided together. Not as fancy as the bamboo here, but it did bring some life into the living room.
Home Tap 3: On one hand, acting cute ‘wike thwis’ with Master Ortho rakes in a lot of tips… but it’s just so embarrassing!
Home Tap 4: This apron is so much softer than my regular one, and it has pockets. This one has a cat’s face on it! Though it’s a shame aprons are meant to get dirty.
Home Tap 5: Would you like any complimentary tea or snacks as you wait in line ♡— oh it’s just you.

my creature with impossible blood pressure readings and the disposition of a lion kept so long in a cage that it's forgotten what the sun looks like. dropout should sell figurines of them in a jar so i can shake them around to hear them rattle whenever i am feeling down. i hope they never get help.

reblogging this a year later before trying to get some sleep because I'm still proud of it :3
...forgive me if this idea seems insensitive, but... I just came up with a kind of unsettling Kamen Rider-related idea. Imagine, if you will... a Rider who uses the power of music to fight, and uses various records as their transformation items/trinkets/whatever. Let's call them... Kamen Rider Tune. They're peppy, full of energy, and love to brighten up the mood. Now imagine that at some point, Tune finds a Ride Record that doesn't have a proper name or graphic on it, it just looks like static turned into a disc, and the label on it looks like a piece of tape with "E.O.T." written on it. Nobody else figures out what it is until later, but Tune realizes what it is instantly. Later on, some especially tough monsters show up, and Tune arrives to fight them... but doesn't have their usual energy and pep. They're... somber, almost. Unusually calm. They pull out the static Tune Record and simply sigh, shaking their head. "You've left me no choice but to use this." They load in the E.O.T. Ride Record, and... there's no fun standby jingle. Just... static, static that sounds like it's coming from a gramophone. "Henshin."
The usual transformation activation sound starts, but quickly fades into static... and then... you hear it. That nostalgic tune you can never quite seem to put your finger on. They're now in a version of their base form suit that looks like it just stepped out of an old, yellowed photograph, and is fading into static at the bottom.
They're using the power of Everywhere at the End of Time.
"You can't remember where I was, can you?" Tune says, sounding... slightly defeated. Sad, even. They suddenly vanish from in sight of the monsters, and the camera angles changes to show Tune standing behind them. "Was I... behind you?" The monsters turn around just as Tune vanishes again, in a haze of static and with a sound like a crackle from a gramophone. "Or was I... over here?" They're back to where they were standing before... and now they're vanishing and re-appearing all over the place. "Here? Over here? Right here? Over there? Maybe I wasn't even real to begin with?" Tune vanishes once again, then re-appears in front of the monsters, but not QUITE in the same spot they started in. "...you can't remember at all, can you? Poor things..." And sure enough... they've completely forgotten. "You can't even remember why you were sent here, or what you were supposed to do to me... can you?" A sad, somber sigh, and a shake of the head... and they've forgotten that, too. "Don't try to remember... it'll just make it worse." A slow, sad walk closer to them, and then hands on their shoulders. "But maybe... you don't have to remember. You don't need that old life. Just live here, amongst us. Start a new life. Maybe you can find a way to use those powers you have for something good. Don't forget those, okay?" And just like that... they've been defeated. But there's no explosion, and they're still there. No awesome insert theme. No beatdowns. Just... unnerving silence. ...was it the right thing to do? Tune can't remember for sure.

i actually think it's really weird that people (like davrin esp) are so upset that lucanis is an assassin. like he wasn't hired to kill US you guys, we're fine. that's kinda the point of assassins, they only kill who they're paid to kill. it feels like they wanted him to mirror zevran a little bit but like zevran it makes sense b/c he was literally hired to kill the HoF and Squad. So it's pretty reasonable for your squad to be like "this guy? you're gonna let this guy near our food? you're going to SLEEP WITH THIS GUY? THIS GUY WHO JUST TRIED TO KILL US!??" since zevran did in fact, very recently, try to kill you.
Lucanis, you just broke out of prison and "hired". He's not going to murder you (on purpose), you're ostensibly his client. That would be exceptionally bad manners and also bad for business. Lucanis is a Professional and a Gentleman, at the end of the day. i do get harding and davrin being leery that he's possessed and spite might kill you just for funsies. but some of the dialogue you get from davrin esp, you get the vibes that he's much more upset to be working with an assassin than a demon possessed person. which is kind of a weird thing for a dragon age squad member to be upset about, since you regularly kill lots of people/monsters for no money/minimal money. i wish we got to call them out on it a little bit (or had a squad member who could), the way varric does with anders in da2 when anders gets upset about almost killing someone and varric's like, "dude we killed so many people before breakfast this morning and you didn't even blink, miss with me with this shit"

(hii Spot been awhile) Something I think that's interesting about the observation about how Slugcats are getting so much attention nowadays is that its almost a 180 from how things were in the pre-downpour days, iirc.
Though I am glad we're getting an AU like yours it's so interesting compared to the usual
Im eating with a fork
Yeah, the fandom was not particularly strong back then, but I think there was more Iterator content. My suspicion as to why slugcats are so much more popular now is because the general "cat appeal"*. Downpour brought in wider audience which mostly consists of people that go wild over cat videos on the internet.
Not my intention to throw shade on it, because after all what does my opinion matter to anyone, but I find the whole "cuteness cult" of the internet annoying and, when applied to Rain World, frustrating. There's a whole silent worldbuilding in basically every screen of the game and the only thing that people seem to take away post-DP is "cute sluggy go wooo :3 the Ancients were such cultist pricks Dx". Which like alright, but expand a little on the latter please? Try? There is So much fun to it when one moves past the "religion only BAD" mindset.
DP also I think didn't care much about the Ancients and the culture they left behind (and therefore the root of Iterators). "But there's Saint!" Saint is almost everything new that wasn't heard of before, can be taken as another fact of monstroid mad religion and, of course, it Has to be wrapped in a fluffy cat package. The undergrowth Echo also feels like a spit in the face to the lore/religion than an addition, to me. My *guess* would be the original intention was showing an individual who failed to ascend because of the Fifth Hindrance but it doesn't *feel* like it. If that was the intention, I think the author didn't understand why a desire to live/survive could ever, in any form, be bad
It's interesting as well in the sense that when there was only Survivor, maybe up to Hunter- the slugcats felt like a vehicle that brings the player to the story. The player saw the world through their eyes and got to experience the world's rules, abiding them- the original campaigns were still subject to the lore/religion of the world.
DP made the slugcats characters, the main focus, in some cases a rebelion against the lore/religion (forever beef against new route for Survivor and Monk). So people had an easier time latching onto them.
That is my theory at least. Fact is also when I first watched RW I almost didn't get into it as a creator because I felt like I had nowhere to hook to and work with. Characters are great anchor points for people to latch on to and then work with/through, so it's not like I blame the fandom for quite literally getting slug infested. It's natural and logical and I'm well aware of it as someone who's trying to be a writer. Still frustrating.
Either way, at least there's a vacuum for me to fill with something I'm actively actually passionate about. It's kind of a sweet bonus that people are somewhat interested, too.
