I’m very behind uploading videos of … anything! Here! But here have some cute colored skulls I unmolded today.
I still need a name for this color combo! Also the colors are both fluorescent, so this should react in black light! I’ll try to get a video once they have findings.

This is wut i was workin on wen Wednesday's disaster happened.😂 It was cool wen i unmolded it, but then i thought, " hey, sum cryin black tears like a possessed doll would b even cooler! So. I started doing resin art stuff. Just a few little things to see if I liked it and I love it. Let me know if anyone wants to see when I unmold this stuff.

So put a Persephone and Hades inspired set each in the pot today as well as one of my orders I still need to get done. My hope is the Hades ones come out like I wanted them to... The Persephone ones we’ll see, but I messed up how much resin I would need for one color over another, so they might not come out like I hoped... But who knows, they might come out even BETTER! I’ll post a video of the unmolding tomorrow... Because I think it’s good to show both successes and failures!

🌟💚💖
🌟 What is your favorite type of crafting (knitting, crocheting, sewing, embroidery, etc) and why?
I feel like my favorite by a mile has been resin crafting. I liked doing UV resin jewelry but I fucking LOVE doing epoxy work. It’s really frustrating sometimes because it can be a little finicky and I’m still working out how to stop getting gaps and bubbles in certain molds but NOTHING feels as good as unmolding a resin piece and thinking “holy shit I made that”
💚 How long have you been crafting and how did you get started?
My whole life? I mean, my memaw started teaching me to make doll clothes when I was a toddler. I never did get very good at sewing or any of the fiber arts (sorry memaw) but I love doing mixed media stuff and jewelry making. I’ve been doing crafting as like a job for about a year though.
💖 Which one of your creations are you the proudest of? Show off!
I already showed my flower shadow box, but I love this little dude too! I made him out of resin using mica powder and I wore him as a necklace to Ren Faire

Another cute trinket dish made with leftover resin.
This mold originally had a pronounced lip that later peeled off, so I’m waiting to see if the piece still casts nicely.

Had so much fun playing with Colores resin on my crafty Twitch livestream yesterday! Couldn't resist unmolding one piece today (see the last pic!) but the rest will wait until this weekend. We'll find out then did the dice win or fail!? 🤷‍♀️ You can only watch the replay until this weekend and then you'll just have to wait for me to upload it to YouTube. https://m.twitch.tv/craftescape #beginnerresin #artsandcrafts #dnddice #imnotevanandkatelyn #resinjewelry #resinart #twitchmakersandcrafting https://www.instagram.com/p/ClhAW6pvvFN/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

The Different Kinds Of Resin Used In Resin Casting
Tumblr media
When choosing a resin, it is important to understand the differences between different kinds. There are Polyurethanes, Acrylics, Polyesters, and Polypropylenes, and each has its own unique benefits.
If you are new to the craft of resin casting, you may want to begin by using epoxy resin. This resin is the most forgiving and easy to work with. It is also very easy to mix.
Polyurethane
Polyurethane resin has a number of benefits and advantages over conventional paints. It is durable, non-toxic, and easy to process. In addition, polyurethane resin can be painted and has UV-resistance.
Acrylic
Acrylic resins are created through a process known as free radical addition polymerization chain reaction. During this reaction, a free radical forms when a polymer's double bond is broken. This radical then attacks other double bonds and joins them. This process is quite simple and involves the formation of a p-bond and a new s-bond on a central carbon atom.
Polyester
Polyester resin has many advantages over acrylic resin, including being cheaper and easier to handle. However, it is important to use the proper safety procedures when working with this material. In addition to avoiding any exposure to UV light, it is also recommended that you avoid using any additives, including inhibitors, which can interfere with the curing process.
Polypropylene
Polypropylene is a highly versatile thermoplastic resin. It is available in a wide variety of shapes, including tubes and sheets. It has a low melting point and is resistant to many acids and alkalis. It is also resistant to most organic solvents and is steam sterilizable. It is wax-like in consistency and has a relatively low tensile strength. It is also available in a variety of colors.
Polystyrene
Polystyrene is a versatile thermoplastic material that has many uses. Its properties are similar to ABS, including good impact resistance and ease of finishing.
Quick-curing polyurethane
A quick-curing polyurethane resin has several benefits over an epoxy resin. It can be molded and unmolded quickly, allowing for a more efficient process. It also hardens quickly, which is useful for projects that require quick unmolding. Different polyurethane resins have different hardness levels, so it is important to know which type you need.

Before I forget to mention it as well: Etsy stuff will be set up tomorrow! I'll only be opening to the US first, but I'll be figuring out Canada shipping soon. It might wind up that I need to tack on a shipping charge for international stuff, but I'm hoping to avoid it tbh. Stickers are light, it should be okay right??
