Here is the post I made discussing the ending of TUA.

One point made in the videos you shared (and yes, I watched both) was the that mention of them sacrificing themselves for "no real reason" while their abuser gets away consequence free.

Reginald Hargreeves is the abuser mentioned. The s1 version was a monster and every flashback would remind us of this. However, s4 is another variant and I cannot help but ask if it should be subject to face the repercussions of his other versions?

I will say that I actually enjoyed the reminder that though he is not technically the same man, he still served his purpose which allowed some healing moments for Victor. 💕

And then they mentioned that he got away consequence free: so having his wife, who he spent every resource in every life to obtain again, betraying him and ending the world... is that consequence enough?

Granted, it can be argued Reginald's cruelty can never be redeemed, and I would totally get that on a personal level. But I will say it there was a bone crunching satisfaction of him being eaten by a giant monster of his wife's making.

And finally, a reminder that they all appeared out a thin fucking air, by the very marigold brought into the world that also triggered a chain of events that would lead to inevitable destruction of earth, season after season. Their very existence was the root cause of chaos, and I would argue that them sacrificing themselves for all humanity could be considered... worth it?

On a personal note, I do feel closure is close to a myth, something that rarely, if ever, happens. The best you can do it review those pivotal moments and learn healthy (hopefully) coping mechanisms so if you are faced with it again, you can try your best.

But that is not something that is guaranteed and that was my take away from the show.
