-Xenomorphs come in last place mostly because their reproduction is much slower and more dependent on viable hosts and also they are just the least OP. The Xenomorphs were made to be scary to normal people, not roided out basket cases in power armor like the Zerg and Tyranids. A small squad of marines held out against an entire hive which is something you cannot even pretend to say about the other two.

-Zerg land smack dab in the middle. And if you know Starcraft development lore then you might know that the Zerg are literally a bargain bin version of the Tyranids so of course they have basically the same strengths and weaknesses but...

-Tyranids win because literally everything in the WH40k universe was written by edgelord middleschoolers whose only hobby is one-upping each other. The Tyranids eat whole entire worlds all the way down to the bedrock and then suck out the molten core with a straw. In lore they are infinite in number and even a single one is nigh unkillable. They basically win because they cheat.

It's sort of the entire narrative. She genuinely believes that she not only can but deserves to be the hero of every story and also the machiavellian puppeteer engineering the problems for her to then swoop in and solve. She dies to her own hubris of course but then comes back and continues it in a new and exciting way. I havent had any coffee yet but if you want more examples I would suggest reading Homestuck because really the whole story is sort of her fault; Genuinely one of the best characters ever. Horrible person. Peak hubris

She is so, so convinced that she can do anything that she doesn't even stop to think if it might fail. Her best friend has to kill her about it; Vriska. Invented hubris, really.

Has all of the luck. All of it. Or at least she's convinced she does. Literally becomes a god and then gets stabbed in the back (very very literally) cause she's so convinced she's unkillable; Mind controls a dude into jumping off a cliff. Mind controls a girl into blinding herself. Mind controls another dude into killing his girlfriend. I don't like her. Also I'm sorry for submitting her.

Kim Dokja

Tries to take down the gods and the inflating system that runs the world? Check. Convinced at all times that he has the most accurate information and best plans? Check. Sacrifices himself multiple times thinking it won’t affect anything? Check. Uncomprehending when his family is devastated by this? Check. Attempts to sacrifice himself to keep the world running bc he has decided to take on full responsibility for all the hurt in the world, despite the fact that multiple people (including the one who created the world and the one who drives it forward) tell him it was not his responsibility? Check. Thinks he can trick his family into leaving him behind by giving them only a piece of himself? Check; He literally can pick up a stick and the world reinvents itself to create a story called “Kim Dokja and a Stick.” He learns nothing from this.

constantly girlbossing too close to the sun. he annoys the dangerous, very easy to piss off Protagonist™ at every opportunity. he talks down to the Extremely Powerful Beings that put him & the entire rest of the world into giant death game arenas, and he has gotten into trouble for it. he uses the standard isekai cheats to make himself overpowered, but then the Extremely Powerful Beings (which he has pissed off) use that as an excuse to up the danger level for *everyone*. he makes enemies at every turn. he's died multiple times, sometimes on purpose because he knows he'll come back. (i'm a webtoon reader and a little behind so i don't know the full extent of what he does, but he's done enough already.); i wouldn't be surprised if the ending of the novel includes him getting so op he simply explodes into dust

I wanna bring us all back for a sec to 'You indestructible little fucker'

Because a lot of people got hung up on this line, thinking Izzy should have lived, that he survived multiple death attempts and this was the proof he's unkillable. But I really think this line does the exact opposite - it portends his death, and not just that, but his sendoff with Edward.

As I've mentioned before, Izzy is a real pirate in the real world. Throughout season 1 he did not subscribe to the 'muppet logic' of the Revenge crew, and continuing in season 2, his injuries don't miraculously heal like everyone else's, including Ed (whose injuries were fatal and should have left him with a cracked skull and brain damage at the very least). He bears his scars, as other real pirates do. As his character grows, develops, and comes to be welcomed into the community of the Revenge crew, we could say he is 'one foot in' when it comes to reaching muppethood. But figuratively, and quite literally, he can never have both feet in and complete that transformation. That lost leg is his tie to the real, bloody, and unfair world of pirating he belongs to.

Izzy didn't survive those other near-death situations because of muppet-logic. He had tenacity, and grit, and most importantly, skill. He wouldn't be able to shrug off yardies like Roach, or a sword to the gut like Ed - Stede's dream literally involves killing Izzy via stabbing. Izzy is the character that things stick to - he's grounded in reality, in the old ways of pirating that have now burnt to the ground.

When Ed calls him indestructible, it's not because Izzy can't die. It's because Ed sees Izzy as a universal constant in his life. Of course Izzy will get back up every time he falls down - no one gets the better of Israel Hands. And in that moment when Ed had gone well and truly off the rails, it's Izzy who reappears from certain death to rein him back in and save the crew. Ed counts on that back and forth, that other presence, always there - for better or for worse, it's stability, it's reliability, it's his normal. Whether or not Ricky was right when he said Izzy was the genius behind the operation, we know that Edward and Izzy together formed 'Blackbeard.' Ed thinks he can't kill Izzy in a way that matters - and he didn't ever kill Izzy himself, he left it to Frenchie and then later gave Izzy the pistol.

But that's where it circles back around to the finale. Ed couldn't fathom Izzy actually dying - he's indestructible. He doesn't know what he'd do without him. It leaves Ed in the vulnerable position of being on his own, figuratively - independent, with no one over his shoulder providing guidance, directing him, or nudging him to be one thing or another. But Izzy tells him, you're ready now. And he is. Izzy isn't invincible, and Edward doesn't need him, doesn't need to hide behind the cold, distant, impenetrable veneer of Blackbeard anymore.

If Izzy could have become a true muppet, he would have brushed off that bullet. But that's not who and what he is - not narratively, and not literally either - he himself says it; "Pirating? Well, this is a pirate ship, and I'm a pirate. So, yeah, I'm good with it." Edward is leaving pirating behind, but it's all Izzy's ever known and it's what he wants to continue being - a real pirate in the real world, and thus, one that faces real consequences and can't keep cheating death. It's a tragedy Ed needed to see, that sometimes, things don't turn out alright - not everyone sails off into the sunset. Some stay behind to run an inn, facing an uncertain but hopeful future with vulnerability and free will, which are both daunting for Edward. Others die a pirate's death - but not without imparting necessary wisdom first.

Kenshi The samurai's berdysh

In fact, Salem has been, and continues to be, my favorite character from this universe. The essence of his existence is to show exactly a robot. His thinking is built on doing his job and following the set terms of the contract, in case of violation of which the employers then lose everything. At best, Salem turns anything upside down, shakes out his pay and leaves, at worst -he kills everyone who cheated him. No emotion, no moral fiber. He spends the money he earns on his own repairs, weapons and ammunition. So he's basically an unkillable killing machine.

There’s no substance for it beyond them dying in the same time period but-

Vox being her ex brings me much joy. Can you imagine? You cheat on your small wife and she murders you (I think she hated being small so she’s even smaller in death) you go on with your afterlife and then you see your insane ex murder someone who almost took out your rival and was thought to be unkillable. That’s gotta be like when you’re in multiplayer and the person who kills you wins the game.

-I also don’t think she’d even recognize him if they met in person. But he definitely remembers her.

-The obsession with cleaning comes from Nifty not cleaning up well enough after Vox’s death.

-Vox was not a good husband. They weren’t good to each other, but Vox is actually nicer to her in death.

-Just Vox taking Nifty to Blitzø’s office to order a hit on her (now ancient) brother who had her committed. Like yeah she was violent, but the lobotomy and torture did NOT help that.

-In turn she stabs Valentino for him

-Just Vox and Nifty being weirdly chill exs.

-Also would love for Vox to be an asshole who is slightly better now.

-Also the blood stains on Nifty’s dress implies she was shot up. Maybe her thing for bad boys led her to seek out someone in the mob after she was ‘cured’ by the asylum?

Does anyone think that someone else could’ve been the Champion of the Raven Queen if Vex hadn’t died?

Like Vax only became the Champion because Vex died, so what if they had looked for traps first and disarmed them from the armor.

I don’t believe anyone would’ve been able to wear/power the armor without somehow making a deal with the Raven Queen.

I wonder who would make the deal then, or if any of them would at all. Or if they could still wear the armor without even talking to her.

That armor has come in clutch so many times. I don’t even know how the campaign would’ve changed if Vax wasn’t the Champion.

And why wasn’t Purvan kept alive as the Champion. I mean I know the Raven Queen doesn’t like people cheating death, but she did do that for Vax, and she kept him after the deal, making him kinda unkillable.

punch out pokemon au ‼️

so i realized that punch out wii has 13 opponents (not counting donkey kong) that are divided up in such a way that they could all be opponents in a pokemon game! the minor and major circuits are the 8 gym leaders, the world circuit is the elite four, and mr sandman is the champion! it's too perfect! i've at least decided everyone's type specialties, sooo....

gym leaders (minor & major circuits):

- glass joe: flying types

i imagine joe is not as miserable in this au, since the first gym leader's job is literally to lose a lot to young trainers. he's not too skilled at battling, and became a gym leader by accident. his team is made up of two measly kalosian flying types, fletchling and vivillon.

- von kaiser: rock types

i know herr kaiser is typically associated with steel, but steel types are way too cool to be the type of the second gym. sorry. i imagine his students are his gym trainers. his ace is rockruff, and maybe he uses something classic like geodude as well.

- disco kid: electric types

these moves are ELECTRIC! i think this one is self-explanatory. disco kid is pretty good at battling, at least good enough to secure a spot as the 3rd gym leader, but he also doesn't take things too seriously. his team is made up of pokemon that he befriended first and trained for battle later, with his ace being raichu.

- king hippo: ground types

did i give him the ground type just so i could give him hippowdon? ...maybe. there's not much else for me to say about king hippo... he's just chilling. good for him. i was originally gonna give him the poison type, but i'll be giving that type to someone else. ;)

- piston hondo: ghost types

what can i say? he seems like a ghost type guy. obviously he gets a revaroom, because honda and all that. he absolutely feeds his pokemon only the best of snacks.

- bear hugger: normal types

what comes to mind when you hear "bear hugger" and "pokemon"? obviously it's bewear. that is his ace, without a doubt. he also has a greedent and a snorlax, it's way too perfect! and of course, they all like raw fish.

- great tiger: psychic types

yeah i don't think i need to explain this one. the man has a medicham (his ace) and an espeon. this also fits the theme of psychic gym leaders tending to have psychic powers themselves. do you think it's legal to use your own psychic powers to trip up your opponents in a battle? let's not worry about it...

- don flamenco: grass types

it goes without saying that this man has a roserade for his ace, as well as an equally powerful arboliva. maybe carmen is one of his gym trainers, or perhaps she's only there to cheer him on? and do you think he would acquire a shiny roserade for his title defense fight to match his all-black look?

elite four (world circuit):

- aran ryan: bug types

what an absolute bug of a man. starting off the elite four strong with a not-so-strong type, aran ryan chose the generation 7 bug type vikavolt to be his ace. he also has a shedinja, which sports the electric tera type and the air balloom item in his title defense fight. really? (for non-pokemon nerds, this setup makes it nearly unkillable. it's practically cheating!) aran has a questionable background, and seems to have been affiliated with some shady people in the past...

- soda popinski: water types

mister popinski has a love for both water and ice types, and he's in luck because a good few pokemon are both! his ace is one of those, that being walrein. he also has a lapras. he's quite fond of giving his team the soda pop item as opposed to normal healing items during battle.

- bald bull: fire types

red is the color of anger, and also the color of the fire type, so naturally this angry man would gravitate towards fire types, especially the fire type bull that is paldean taurous. he also uses a magmortar. of course bald bull isn't angry ALL the time, and spends his free time relaxing with his pokemon. warm pokemon give warm hugs :]

- super macho man: dragon types

of course everyone's "favorite" show-off uses what's generally regarded as one of the most powerful types. his ace is a kommo-o, a very cool one at that. (i like smm and i like kommo-o. but it works!) he also has an appletun, which was a gift to him from a certain someone... oh my god, this au lets macho man literally release the beast. amazing.

the champion (mr. sandman)

sandman does not use just one type, as is the case with most champions. he has a gengar and a musharna, for obvious reasons. he also has a crabominable and and a hydrapple. he was mysteriously missing after mac defeated the elite four, but i'm sure he'll come back soon. right?

i'm sure nothing bad will happen ;)

I have this random AU that I've been thinking about for a while but haven't really talked about before, so yeah. The base plot is just everyone trying to kill each other and failing, and then getting mad when someone actually succeeds, but we need some background information first.

Gods are real, and they are active participants in the world. Occasionally, they bless certain mortals with the ability to cheat death out of an honest desire for companionship, for someone that could understand. This is the traditional way to achieve immortality, the right way. This is how Phil got his immortality, and it's the way that George is heading towards.

Other gods have special chosen mortals, crusaders and champions of their names. Most are not granted the immortality that those who can charm a god are, or at least those can be killed, with extreme effort. Technoblade is the Blood God's champion, and is blessed with supernatural strength and prowess for it, as well as an extended lifetime. Still not quite immortal, but close.

Then there are those rare people who seek out gods to make deals, instead of the other way around. They offer something, and if it is enticing enough and if the god finds their courage amusing or admirable, they get the deal they want. Often, these include immortality.

DreamXD is one of the gods most open to this, as there is something material that he needs and can be offered. That is how both Punz and Foolish's pacts come from - offering to collect and feed him the souls he needs to survive, because gods can still die. Foolish ended up changing the terms of his deal as he settled down but kept his immortality - he can be killed, but XD will just bring him back. Punz still stays with the souls pact; they reap the souls they can and give them to XD, and grow stronger in exchange. For their devotion, XD has bestowed a special gift upon them - being able to suck the soul out of anyone they have skin-to-skin contact with if they have time and can concentrate enough. The proper immortals - i.e. Phil, Sam, Eret, and Foolish; George and Techno aren't quite there yet, even if they have the potiental - all know about this, but no one else does. However, most of them are not very thrilled about this ability and lead some to regard Punz with a bit more detachment and apprehensiveness, as it could cause the permanent death of a couple of them.

Not all immortality is granted by the gods. Some mortals go out and take it instead. Sam is one of these cases, having acquired his immortality through redstone and engineering and cloning. As long as the original body - the real Sam, the one version of himself he did not create - remains intact, Sam can just enter a new one whenever he dies, leaving him essentially unkillable unless someone knows where the original body is.

Not all ascensions are intended, or beautiful. Eret was once human, but their long, extended exposure to the corrupted otherworldliness through the wither cult has made them something...different. Maybe even eldritch. But either way, they can't really die, and that's enough for the others. Phil thinks they might be becoming a god. Callahan knows they're not.

Callahan is a minor god of forests and growth and all things hidden. He uses his power to try to stitch the world together again and again and again; the one thing that never changes is that it is always inches away from collapse, and Callahan doesn't know why. He wants to know why, but, until he does this is the best he can do. As is, he haunts the world like a ghost, there one moment and the next gone. He's...friendly with the once-mortals, he knows what they are and they know what he is, but that's about it.

So, with that over with, Technoblade tries to hunt Sam down post-Daedalus because he really doesn't want this guy to be alive any longer (considering the locked-Techno-in-prison thing and let-Techno's-friend-get tortured thing and the killed-Techno's-protege thing and the kidnapped-a-baby thing), and he ropes Phil into this. Phil knows that they can't actually kill Sam normally, but he's not a big fan of Sam either, so he calls Punz up to see if they can do anything about it. They can, so they show up and Techno immediately distrusts them but leaves when Phil tells him that it's fine and they can handle it.

Then Punz sucks Sam's soul out of his body, which is actually what Phil wanted them to do. After that, Punz decides to not give the millennia-old soul to XD or use it to strengthen themself, but to make a deal with XD to grant Dream that measure of immortality Punz themself has, with the soul as essentially a downpayment. When Phil finds out about this, he is not happy, primarily because he thinks that Dream is fucking evil and does not deserve that power. Punz then storms out, leaving Phil alone with his thoughts, while Punz goes to find Dream, who is, as one might assume, not doing well with his sudden, rushed ascension.

Oh, and Foolish is really really mad at Quackity because of how he's been treating Foolish, so I'm sure nothing bad will come out of that at all.

To build off other Anon's idea, it would be really funny if the person WAS Rantaro. He just. Keeps winning Danganronpa. And THAT'S why Tsumugi took things into her own hands. She was probably pulling her hair out when Kaede's shot put ball missed, thinking, "Oh no, not on my watch, it's time for this cockroach to finally die!". Extra funny if after it's revealed that Tsumugi killed him if there was discourse/memes about it. Like, he's so unkillable, the mastermind of the season had to take matters in her own hands and off him herself. It becomes a big meme in the community, and there's discourse online if the fact that Tsumugi did this was "cheap" or "cheating". Tsumugi is just salty that her least favorite "character" kept suriving every Danganronpa he was in, like, bash her head against the wall frustration. Not on her watch! Not this time! No sir, Rantaro Amami will finally die!

headcanon: so what the hell IS drizzt do'urden to entreri?

Buckle the hell up, friends.

layer 1 of the hell onion: an equal in skill

Please understand that Entreri actually getting a good fight is so rare for him. Since he was literally a child his method for survival has been to just be better than everybody else--more brutal, more disciplined, more heartless. And he's only still alive because he has succeeded at that.

Unfortunately for Entreri, being good at ruthlessness as a kid got him basically groomed to join a criminal guild at a young age, thus starting a vicious cycle. He makes himself more "perfect" to keep surviving, and the more "perfect" he is the more desirable, the more he becomes entangled in this underworld until he's at the very pinnacle of it and can't possibly escape.

It's horrible what he's had to do to himself, his entire purpose in life whittled down only to two things: keeping alive and Skill. He's obsessed with skill, with control. In his own twisted way, he takes pride in it (because what other semi-joy is he going to find in his life?)

So Drizzt immediately earns his attention because Drizzt is an actual challenge, and part of the emptiness of Entreri's life is that he's good enough at what he does to not often get a challenge. Drizzt is fun. Entreri is having a good time the moment their swords clash.

layer 2 of the hell onion: how the hell is this guy a good person?

It fucking agonizes Entreri to see himself in Drizzt, even their own parallel suffering, because Drizzt was able to achieve the same pinnacle of skill and unkillableness as Entreri... but without selling his soul. Looking at Drizzt forces Entreri to look at his own inadequacy. All of the Living he's never been able to do in his life.

You see, Entreri has survived this long because he has simply believed he could never want for anything more, that that was beyond people like him.

And then here's Drizzt. A person like him. Who has more.

It's not as simple as "oh if you were a better person you could have avoided your suffering, Entreri." It's worse than that. Entreri didn't have that option. A part of him is viciously jealous of Drizzt because Drizzt was lucky enough to escape.

And an even larger part of him is left absolutely wretched after their meeting because Drizzt opens a door that can't be closed again. His very existence begs the question: What is the worth of your life, Artemis Entreri?

And the glaring answer is Nothing. And there was nothing Entreri could have really done to prevent that.

How the hell do you get over that??? You don't <3

layer 3 of the hell onion: if i just kill him that'll make it all go away

Initially and somewhat desperately Entreri hunts down Drizzt for rematches because if he can just defeat Drizzt it will prove that everything that Drizzt represents is actually an illusion, he's not actually the same as Entreri at all, no sir. But of course Drizzt is the main character. So Entreri can't kill him. And every time he can't kill him, it just hammers home again that Entreri can't escape him. Can't escape himself :')

layer 4 of the hell onion: i am begging you to kill me

After a few defeats, Entreri's relentless pursuit of Drizzt becomes more listless and depressed. He even questions whether he truly wants to fight Drizzt again. He's straight up afraid, but of what?

(Were they........ you know....... fighting equals?)

There even finally comes a point where Entreri does actually "win" with the help of Jarlaxle's cheating. Presumably Entreri strikes a killing blow on Drizzt... And what is his reaction? He falls to his knees weeping.

By that point he didn't even particularly want to kill Drizzt. He wanted answers. Answers to this unsolvable question of himself. And barring that? He wanted Drizzt to destroy him.

(He was basically begging Drizzt to kill him through that whole fight btw, Entreri is very not ok.)

layer 5 of the hell onion: what are you really so angry about, artemis?

Entreri has a line much later in the series, when he is consoling Dahlia (a character very similar to himself), and it reveals a lot more self awareness about the above time in his life and that stage of his relationship with Drizzt.

"Killing" Drizzt actually wouldn't solve anything, would simply be another hollow gesture. It would never address the real problem which is Entreri's own incredible hurt and loneliness. The fury at everything that was done to him all throughout his life... And yet the inherent directionless of that anger, when there's been nothing else for him to really do about it.

That conversation with Dahlia continues to be revealing:

His only recourse was to not care. Was to go through life on autopilot. Drizzt forces him to give a shit. And how do you even begin to give a shit when you basically gave up on yourself at the very start of your life?

It's so, so frightening.

Moments later he awkwardly and haltingly confesses to Dahlia that he was sexually assaulted when he was young, same as her, and this is the very first time he's ever told someone.

layer 6 of the hell onion: complete lovelessness

It finally begs the question: what is Entreri truly jealous of when it comes to Drizzt?

On the one hand: Drizzt has received love where Artemis Entreri has not.

On the other: Drizzt is actually able to give love to others, again where Artemis Entreri is not.

Entreri has simply never had the option, and even when the option eventually presents itself he completely lacks the tools to know what to do with it.

For his entire adult life he managed to keep living by hanging on to the simple belief that he couldn't want such things, that they were pointless.

And then Drizzt fuckin blew up that wall and exposed the raw hurt child hiding underneath. A child that only ever wanted love.

in conclusion

i still think every RPG game should have an explorer mode where you can just walk around wherever you want without restriction. story is disabled. npcs are unkillable and can just stand there and do their idle animations, interaction not necessary. enemies never become hostile. in fact, you can turn npcs off and just see the environment. if you can get to a door/entrance you can enter it. you can interact with objects as usual. so it's like creative mode but for an RPG

you can disable this option until the game is beaten at least once if you want i guess, but idk why you would other than to "deter" "cheating" or spoilers, but like, it's the player's game so let them do what they want.
