A part of me doesn’t want to surrender to the bliss that is a relaxed life filled with love, because I’ve been taught that this isn’t real or safe. . . Lately I’ve been forgetting to remind myself about impending doom that I’ve imagined. This has been possible because I’ve again reduced the acessibility for abusive people to contact me and I’ve (as always) been onwards and upwards in my healing journey. . . The peace is nice... but a thought lingers somewhere, “should I be reminding myself about this?” What if I get “too comfortable” in this new life and get caught off guard by a new attack? What if it doesn’t work out? What if there’s a way I can avoid harm but won’t think of it if I don’t obsess over it? What if there’s some way I can be preparing? What if I think that obsessive thoughts is preparing? . . The thing is, it isn’t. One of my favourite Tao Te Ching quotes goes something like, “there is no greater wrong than preparing to defend yourself.” When we do so, we make assumptions about those who oppose us in our minds and give away our power and peace in the mean time. . . Abusive people would love for us to be constantly preparing to defend. How often do we think about things or do things “just in case” someone asks, acts, or cares? How silly does that sound when it’s stated that simply? . . Surrender to peace. It’s okay to surrender to peace, love, and support. Allow yourself to be gently cradled in all the love the universe has to offer. Allow peace, love, and support to follow you from this place of surrender if or when the scenario you’re anticipating comes to life. . .
