The one thing I wanted to do when we were in New York was to try to score some ramps at the Union Square Greenmarket. I knew the season was coming to an end, so on Monday morning I took the Q down to Union Square and was able to get several beautiful bunches that have since been used to make some wonderful food.
Once I had those taken care of in our hotel room, I grabbed a quick lunch at S&P Lunch right by the Flatiron Building. It’s in the spot formerly used by Eisenberg’s, famous for its egg creams, and the current owners are seeking to maintain the history of S&P/Eisenberg’s, which you can read about on their menu. I treated myself to a pastrami sandwich and a chocolate egg cream, and both were fantastic. Egg creams have no eggs in them--it’s more like a lighter, carbonated milkshake for those unfamiliar, and the pastrami easily rivals that of Katz’s (and I love Katz’s!).
The service is fast--it’s meant to be a lunch counter, after all--making it perfect for grabbing a quick, reasonably-priced bite in the middle of Manhattan.

Ok loves, I've decided to try something to stretch myself creatively with this challenge. I'm gonna dribble my drabble and see if I can tie each theme into an actual story that I'll write day by day! We'll see how it goes! Wish me luck!
Check out @slowsweetlove to join in the fun!

Day 2 Theme: Selfie
There you were, minding your own business at the Union Square Greenmarket when you heard them.
“Oh my god it’s you!!! I love your work, Can I get a selfie?” the feminine voice so excited it made you wince.
“Thank you. Yeah sure, what’s your name?” the voice was melodious and deep. It reminded you of something, someone you’d not thought about in a long time.
You turned and saw him, your first real crush. Austin fucking Butler. He seemed taller and more filled out, though it was hard to really tell under his black carhart. His hair was just a touch darker than you remembered, what little you could see of it. The scruff on his chin and upper lip added the perfect touch of masculine.
You watched, slightly mesmerized, as he interacted with a young girl who was practically swooning. He was still sweet, still kind, but holy moly, his hotness quotient had quadrupled since you had last laid eyes on him.
He waves a little fingertip goodbye to the girl then turns and locks eyes with you. At first he gives you a little generic smile and head nod. His brows crease and eyes narrow in recognition before a full grin blooms on his face.
You can't help but return the smile as you try to hide your sudden panic. You doubt there is a person on the planet who wouldn’t smile back at him, charming as he is.
“Hey! I know you,” he says enthusiastically as he reaches out to touch your upper arm.
Oh holy fuck…

𝗪𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘: union square greenmarket. 𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘: 9:15am. 𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚: anyone ( @delicatlueur ).
paper surrounding fresh picked tulips crinkles in nanami's arms as she leisurely walks through the outdoor farmer's market, not searching for anything specifically. most wouldn't expect to see her out there, or to see her in anything less than a designer getup, but it's still early and nanami just— " hey! " she huffs, watching as her tulips fall to the ground. " pay attention where you're walking! there's no one else around, what are you rushing for!? "

How I Spent 9 hours in NYC - 6/21
It was difficult to narrow things down to just these, but wanted to minimize travel and keep most of the spots in the lower half so I could accomplish the majority of items by walking.
Speaking of walking, some of these were walk-bys* and some were walk throughs``` (orange font).. I've also noted a few that were on the list^, but were missed due to time and weather (twas hot in the city) ... (black font)
The Portal -- this wasn't on the list, but I just happened to walk by, so adding it here.
The National Arts Club```
Theodore Roosevelt Birthplace National Historic Site*
Union Square Greenmarket -- also wasn't on the original list, but sometimes you need to bide some time until your museum opens at 10:30. Also - in addition to all the farmers, lots of other vendors there...
Fotografiska``` -- Vivian Maier exhibit... that is all.
Edward Hopper Studio* - theoretically tourable, but couldn't find consensus on how to make it happen and time was a ticking.
Picnic in Washington Square Park complete with a little jazz band nearby... blissful.
Keith Haring Studio (5th floor)
Jean-Michel Basquiat - studio and place of his death *
Westwood Gallery NYC``` - great exhibit on artists and their lofts
Mark Rothko - Former Studio*
First Street Green Cultural Park```
International Center of Photography Museum``` - ICP just turned 50... and so did I...
Mmuseumm^
Jackson Pollock lived here in the 40s^ - 46 Carmine Street
Whitney Museum of American Art``` ... got to take in the Biennial, which has been on my "art" bucket list for a minute.
High Line```... always a great place for people watching and public art...
And there you have it... 9 hours, 22k-ish steps, and a fair amount of sweat. I traveled in and out of Penn Station, which informed many of the choices above and the Vivian Maier exhibit was the impetus for day, but I had the opportunity to see it and so much more!

Summer Saturdays Vol. 10
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/c9757724c9c16c6f0ab38fffce96bfa1/3b6403690395ad95-60/s540x810/35bf8a64a351afc5120b8cd669a12a0647bea8d8.jpg)
The final Summer Saturdays is here and if you’ve read any of these, you’re a hero and I love you. Summer doesn’t technically end until September 22nd, but I’m going by the accepted norm that Labour Day weekend ends this season so we’re saying goodbye to this series until next year. (Although Fall Fridays does sound kind of perfect…)
EATING
Yellow watermelon from the Union Square Greenmarket. And it tasted better than red, which seems like witchery.
DRINKING
I’ve had so much white sangria this summer, I think I need to retire it immediately.
COOKING
I made my favourite chicken marsala for our anniversary dinner. There is always so much leftover sauce that I used it the following day on roasted potatoes and good god it was heaven.
BAKING
I made these wildly easy espresso chocolate chip cookies with browned butter on a whim because I wanted something sweet.
CRAVING
I need to eat the seasonal tomato focaccia with green garlic butter at Lilia this week. I know I’ll regret it if I don’t.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ccd34a96361192bdfece263c6205a761/3b6403690395ad95-fc/s540x810/88d25ee48cfcbd706484cb98f0a0b1d6dea1502b.jpg)
Above Photo: The best tomato focaccia with green garlic butter at Lilia in Brooklyn
LISTENING
To hair tutorials on Instagram and, uh, they suck? I tried maybe five different ones and they all didn’t work. If you have (undisclosed) hair extensions and you film hair tutorials, you should gently walk into the ocean because you’re helping no one.
WATCHING
Nathan and I saw the horror movie Talk To Me and okay yes the story was good, but I truly hate gore. Seeing someone rip their own eyeball out gives me no joy, what can I say.
WEARING
Summer Fridays lip butter balm. It was a sample (I’m trying to go through all my beauty samples before they expire) and it’s very sticky, but the gloss is incredible. Is it worth $32 American dollars? Oh gracious no.
EXPERIENCING
Went to a Jays game and it was great! They lost, but in extra innings so it was still a fun one.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/a491ea1d9f7473806fdb06605fbe0ee8/3b6403690395ad95-ca/s540x810/b589b9eef82712382c212a58703aace1701cbd8e.jpg)
Above Photo: Skydome, August 2023
LOVING
I can’t stop making reels.
SHOPPING
The Hero Mighty Patch strips. I love this brand so much for pimples. I wish they’d make one big face-covering patch to sleep in.
You can read last week’s Summer Saturdays Vol. 9 over here and you can see my summer highlights on Instagram over here.
