can i get other examples of gamepress being wrong about arknights? i've been using them as my main source since i started and now i'm worried i'm missing out on some operators i haven't bothered to upgrade 🙃
We could be here literally all day because it's not like they have one or two outliers, Gamepress is just mainly edited by people that live in an echo chamber and that have authority in their own circle so it's just off-the-hip, all too often wrong biased takes based on their own really reductive metrics. Chiefly, Gamepress ranks characters 1) as if they were the sole unit in the battlefield almost exclusively, and 2) using the single most broken units currently live as the barrier of entry. The unit you are looking up can't clear a chunk of map in one tap? Worthless and sub-optimal, according to Gamepress. Their only metric is Mlynar, Ch'ung the Hung, Surtr, that kind of Press To Win philosophy, and if a unit can't do that, Then It's Bad And Not Worth It.
Now, you may be thinking, "goodness me, Dreamer, you are being awfully harsh to call them complete dogshit at every angle of the game in this manner!", well, see, it's not just their Operator "reviews", they have articles sometimes. And they are god awful dogshit as well, such as "What Happened To Blaze?"
You can't see the comments anymore, but the author was getting reamed. I have one screenie at least:
Comments were mainly of this nature. Because, well, the article is straight up awful, especially since it reduces Blaze to "laneholder" and compares her to "competition" like Thorns, Mudrock, and Mountain, who, yes, they all can hold a lane, but Blaze has her own space of "infinite duration, high statline, healable 3-block with 2 tile range" that has historically allowed for Funny Tricks like clearing enemies through "walls" on tiles that could shred Thorns even with a healer, or, you know, in conjunction with any of Mudrock or Mountain, given you have 12 whole slots for you team. Again, Gamepress editors rate characters as if they were your main in a fighting game and not one of 12+1 characters you can throw in at any time. They also tend to shit on non-specialist characters (generalists; more versatile units that can do a bunch of things without really breaking the game in any regard), which is very interesting because those usually will make up a strong backbone of any competent Integrated Strategies team, so the specialists in role can do their thing while the other needs of the map are being met.
"Ebenholz is nothing special." "Goldenglow is nothing special." These are takes they genuinely held until, you know, it turned out that Eben and GG are the most relevant Casters, up there with Eyja. To be fair, it wasn't just them being wrong on Eben, but how do you look at the global blasting of GG with her numbers and don't immediately realize that's an ICBM button? All it takes is having the game installed.
The biased nature of Gamepress is also blatant:
Imagine rating April as "Really Good" while relegating Dorothy as only "Really Fun". Even before her Module3, Dorothy was absolutely devastating, bringing huge damage multipliers, crowd control, one of the single best class autoattacks in the whole game at 6* stat weight, and a Talent that gives her even more Attack for basically using her as intended. I'm not saying April isn't good, mind you, I'm just trying to highlight how biased the hands behind Gamepress are: They can't figure out Trapmasters? Then surely they are merely "really fun". Can't drop and forget them like April or Surtr, after all.
About the only thing Gamepress is good for is objective, in-game info: Dates, mat requirements, what skills do, that kind of stuff. It's got a good interface and is a good place to just quickly look up what you need to know that can otherwise be found in the game. The moment their personal opinions come into play, though? The most absolute dogshit takes. Unless you are a "unga bunga drop Surtr and Mlynar and win instan-- WAIT WHY IS INTEGRATED STRATEGIES AND RISK 23+ KICKING MY DAY 1 PLAYER ASS...!?" kinda player, then you don't really want to follow Gamepress advice.
Because they simply do not give good advice as a whole.

Lu's Guide to Sin Analysis
Welp, since my brain is too focused on having K Corp Hong Lu go full unga bunga in Mirror Dungeons to write full analyses, I decided I might as well give something else to all the people starving for Limbus Theory content.
So, here we are. A basic guide on how I approach the Sin Analysis portion of my analyses, covering my personal interpretations for each Sin, as well as how to use those when analysing both E.G.Os and Identities.
That way, ya'll can dabble in doing some of this on your own when I'm too busy grinding my way to 400 hours of play time on Limbus to write up full analyses.
Sounds good? Awesome. Under the cut we go, wheeeee!
Sin Interpretations
Let's start with the most important part - the Sins themselves.
I want you to take a moment and think about your own associations with those Sins. Perhaps your immediate thought is to take the words used literally. Maybe you immediately think back to the Biblical ideas of the Seven Deadly Sins. Mayhaps there's some other media you know that also uses Sins in some way, which you subconsciously default to when thinking about them.
Whatever those associations are, I want you to throw them away.
That's right. Whatever is telling you that Lust = Horny, Wrath = Angry, Envy = Jealous, etc, etc? Throw all of those preconcieved notions away.
This is the biggest mistake I see people make when trying to analyse Identities and E.G.O based on their Sins - they assume that those Sins have the same meanings in the context of Limbus as the popular, more common interpretations of them.
And while, sure, some of them can definitely overlap with what one would expect them to be, I think relying on those during analysis instead of trying to understand what the game itself is trying to tell us by using those Sins as symbols is doing its storytelling a massive disservice.
Do I think my personal interpretations of the Sins are a 100% accurate reading? No, of course not. I can't see into the mind of Kim Ji-Hoon or whoever else at Project Moon might have been the mastermind behind deciding what Sins connect to what. I have no way of knowing what exactly they intended here.
However, I do wish to believe that my interpretations not only strive to meet the game's storytelling on its own terms, but also hopefully make further analysis based on those interpretations a bit easier to wrap one's head around.
...God I really need to stop writing massive preambles and just get to the fucking point.
So let's actually get to The Fucking Point. Sin Interpretations, one by one. Let's fucking do it.
Wrath
The flames of revolution burn bright in the face of cold winds.
Wrath is the Sin of self-righteousness and defiance. To act with Wrath is to decide that one deserves better, that things around then should bend to their will, and then take matters into their own hands. It's the Sin of deciding one has the right to change something simply because they don't like the current state of things.
There are many ways one can act because of Wrath. It can show through trying to rebel against authority, to subvert one's fate, to escape one's unfavorable circumstances, or to even reject one's own true nature. To act with Wrath is to stand up for oneself and tell reality "No, I refuse!" loud and clear.
A common misconception of Wrath is the idea that anger is an inherent part of it. While it's true that those feelings often coincide with defiance, they're not required for one's acts to be fueled by Wrath. Some can be Wrathful while being completely calm and collected, as their acts of defiance could be more on the quiet and simmering side.
Likewise, being quick to anger isn't always a sign of Wrath. It's very possible for someone to have a short temper, while also being fully accepting of the reality they live in (Ryoshu, I am looking directly at you), thus lacking Wrath.
Lust
One's base insticts go all the way back to that genetic code.
Lust is the Sin of self-indulgence. It's the Sin of letting one's own desires and whims dictate one's actions. It's also the Sin of seeking personal fulfillment above all else. To act with Lust is to give up one's self-control and let one's instincts and wants guide them.
Unlike what the name and symbol might initially imply, Lust can include many different types of desires, not just the carnal.
Likewise, acts of Lust can be just as varied as one's desires. Satisfying one's most basic of needs, searching for a form of spiritual enlightenment, or even just saying the first thing that comes to mind because one feels like it are just a few examples.
Sloth
A stone will not care for what happens to it, nor the world around it.
Sloth is the Sin of apathy and resignation. Unlike other Sins, which mostly show through one's direct actions, Sloth can also show through inaction.
To act with Sloth is to ignore reality, to let oneself go along with whatever is happening with barely any complaints. As such, Sloth is commonly associated with blind obedience or unwillingness to act out.
Due to its nature as a Sin of resignation, Sloth can be seen as the direct opposite of Wrath, the Sin of defiance. This creates a unique situation where the inclusion of one can drastically shift the context of the other if both are a part of the same Identity or E.G.O.
Gluttony
Plants never stop waging wars, always wanting just a little bit more.
Gluttony is the Sin of hunger, and it's unique from the other Sins in that it equally represents two different ideas of that hunger, which can appear together just as often as they can be completely seperated.
The first type of Gluttony is one of the starving hunger of survival. In this context, to act with Gluttony is to do anything for the sake of scraping by and living to see another day.
The second type of Gluttony is the hunger for more, or in other words: greed. In this context, to act with Gluttony is to do everything for the sake of this idea of "more". To gain more wealth, to find more recognition, to make more progress.
Both of these types of Gluttony are unified in one main point - they are, by definition, endless. The struggle for survival never ends, unless one fails to survive. Likewise, there is no finite "more" that greed is reaching towards, it's a neverending process of one-upmanship.
Gloom
When a wave of emotion rises, many will be swept away in its wake.
Gloom is the Sin of dwelling on feelings. To act with Gloom is to be guided by one's negative emotions, to buckle under stress and let it control one's mind and actions.
While sadness, grief, and depression are the states of mind most commonly associated with Gloom, and are often a part of it, they're not inherent to it. The only "requirement" here is the experience of severe emotional duress, and acting out in direct response to it.
In a way, Gloom is the Sin of losing control over oneself, not dissimilar to Lust. However, the main difference here is the cause of losing that control. Gloom is the loss of self-control due to being overwhelmed by negative experiences, while Lust is the loss of self-control due to seeking out positive experiences.
Pride
Be careful, for that double-edged sword may cut you as well.
Pride is the Sin of ignoring consequences. Acts of Pride are all actions taken because of the belief that their benefits outweigh the cost in some way. While the most common way this can present is through actions that benefit oneself at the cost of others, it's not the only way Pride can manifest.
One can be Prideful when believing the benefit to many outweighs the consequences. Likewise, refusing to acknowledge the harm one brings to themself because their actions benefit them in some other way also counts as Pride.
The idea that Pride is inherently tied to selfishness or self-confidence is another common misconception. In fact, Prideful acts can manifest just as often from a lack of self-confidence or a misguided selflessness. Rather, one could interpret Pride as a form of willful ignorance, in a way.
Envy
Thorns don't go out of their way to harm, they merely react to your touch.
Envy is the Sin of reaction and retribution. It's the idea of doing something because of what someone else has done. By definition, one cannot act with Envy without some form of provocation.
Like is the case with many other Sins, acts of Envy can take many forms, from taking revenge to following orders. The main connecting idea here is letting oneself be influenced by another person, whether it's being coerced, provoked, ordered, or otherwise manipulated.
Out of all of the Sin misconceptions, seeing Envy as inherently tied to jealousy might be the worst one of all. While acts done out of jealousy would likely count as acts of Envy, they are but a miniscule part of the sheer scope that Envy represents.
...
Alright, so you know what each of those Sins means. Now it's time to figure out how to Actually Apply Them.
Sin Affinities in the context of Identities
The main way Sins play a role in a given Sinner's Identity is through their Sin Affinities. Mechanically, these are the Sins attributed to each of their skills, signifying both their type of Sin damage and what Sin resource they generate upon being used.
However, this is Project Moon we're talking about, and these fuckers can't keep their gameplay mechanics seperate from the story to save their lives.
So, this begs the question: what can we learn about a Sinner's given Identity through their Sin Affinities?
Here is the method that I believe works best in my experience:
The Sin affinities of each of an Identity's skills represent a different layer of their psyche and motivations. I'm going to try to show what I mean by using base Identities of the four Sinners who already had their own Canto.
Skill 1's Sin Affinity is the surface level motivation of the Sinner's actions. This is the most obvious and "shallow" reading of them and their actions, and also likely the one the Sinners themselves are most aware of.
Gregor's Skill 1 is Gloom due to him being constatly haunted by his trauma, with much of his cynicism and dark-ish sense of humor being shaped by his war experiences. Rodya's Skill 1 is Gluttony due to her tendency to value material goods and love for food, which are signs of her greed and will to survive respectively. Sinclair's Skill 1 is Pride due to him taking many actions (such as sharing his father's secrets or giving Kromer his basement key) for their immediate benefits, without considering the consequences. Yi Sang's Skill 1 is Gloom due to him falling into deep depression and letting the trauma of the past shape his current actions.
Skill 2's Sin Affinity is a deeper motivation of the Sinner's actions. It's delving deeper into their psyche to see what guides them in less obvious ways. This Sin Affinity can also have noticeably closer ties to the Sinner's background in one way or another.
Gregor's Skill 2 is Gluttony due to him being driven by the will to survive, most notably expressed by him leaving the rest of the veterans to escape the war and try to live after it ended. Rodya's Skill 2 is Pride due to her fully believing in what she does working out in her favor, completely ignoring consequences on the way. Her killing the pawnbroker is the biggest example of an act of Pride, as she fully believed that it would help her neighbourhood despite the consequences that murder would bring. Sinclair's Skill 2 is Wrath due to him not accepting his circumstances. His want to defy his future prosthetics procedure is what eventually led him to agreeing with Kromer, and his will to defy her is what drove him through the events of his chapter. Yi Sang's Skill 2 is Envy due to his passive nature and how easily he lets other people dictate his actions. It's especially notable in how after the League fell apart, he would have been willing to do anything Gubo told him at that moment.
Skill 3's Sin Affinity is what I would like to call a Sinner's Core Sin. It's the true main reason behind their actions, and has a much closer and direct tie into their past than the other Sin Affinities. In a way, this is the deepest layer of their psyche.
Gregor's Skill 3 is Sloth as his resignation to his circumstances is what colors much of his past. He learned that resistance is futile early in life, and it shows. Though he didn't want to fight in the war, he felt like he had no choice but to. All of his life, he simply listened to orders without complaint, unable to see a way to change his situation. Rodya's Skill 3 is Wrath as her self-righteousness and defiance is what drove her actions at the deepest level. She first joined the Yurodiviye because she wanted to bring change the state of her neighbourhood, and likewise left them when she no longer agreed with how they did things. Her murder of the pawnbroker was her biggest act of defiance, of taking matters into her own hands and trying to bring change to her reality at all cost. Sinclair's Skill 3 is Envy as much of his actions were dictated by other people. Social pressure was what led to him first breaching the trust of his family, and Kromer's coercion and manipulation is what then led to his family's death. In a way, you could also interpret Sinclair's arc in Canto III as one big act of Envy, as he finally tries to take revenge on Kromer for what she has done. Yi Sang's Skill 3 is Sloth as his apathy to the reality around him is what led to him ignoring the warnings signs of the League falling apart, and the resignation that followed could have resulted in him helping Gubo and the New League out with their horrible plans had there not been an intervention. It's only by the end of Canto IV that he finally manages to break out of this state for long enough to stand up for himself and decide to keep on living.
So, that's the basics of Sin Affinities when it comes to Identities! Now, some of you might be asking, "Hey Lu, what about Sin resources needed for Passives?", and my answer to that is...
Honestly, I don't entirely know! I do think there probably is some reason beyond pure gameplay mechanics... Buuuuut I don't think their importance is as major as the main Sin Affinities of a given Identity, especially since there isn't a single Passive that is activated by a Sin that the given Identity doesn't have any Affinity to.
Sin Affinities in the context of E.G.Os
Alright, so, when it comes to E.G.O, we run into some additional complexities. Unlike Identities, which can usually have their Sins Analysed with minimal additional context, E.G.O Sin Analysis has to be done under a specific angle.
This is because while Identities represent the Sinner as a whole person, E.G.Os represent a specific singular part of that Sinner.
Base E.G.Os usually seem to tie back to a specific event or action or some other thing in that Sinner's past. Likewise, E.G.Os derived from Abnormalities represent the ways that Sinner connects to that Abnormality's own themes.
In a way, the game's worldbuilding even acknowledges the fact that a Sinner can only use the E.G.O of an Abnormality they relate to in some way, as Dante's Notes describe the process of the Sinners using E.G.O as trying to make the Abnormality's emotions and identity their own.
That little tangent aside, there are two main things to analyze sin-wise when it comes to E.G.O - the Sin Affinity, and the Sin Resources necessary to use that E.G.O.
An E.G.O Sin Affinity works similarly to an Identity's Sin Affinities - for a Base E.G.O, it's the main Sin that action manifests as. For an Abno-derived E.G.O, it's the Sin that contextulizes the way the Abno's themes connect to the Sinner in question.
The Sin Resources an E.G.O needs is where things get fun. These are what a Sinner needs to be able to use the E.G.O, both mechanically AND story-wise. The Sins here represent what a Sinner has as their motivation and drive to fully reflect what that E.G.O represents. For Base E.G.Os, it's why they took the actions they did. For Abno E.G.Os, it's why they connect to that Abno's themes and why they're able to relate to it.
Now... There is one more thing about E.G.Os that I don't really talk about.
Sin Resistances.
The reason why I don't talk about them... Is because I have No Fucking Clue how to interpret them. There has to be some importance to them (Hong Lu being weak to Wrath in all of his E.G.O thus far, I am looking at you), I just don't know what it is. In fact, I doubt we even have enough information available to us right now to be able to say for sure.
I don't know how to end these posts dear fucking lord-
So uh. Yeah. That's. Everything that I think is important to mention on the topic of Sin Analysis and how I do it. If I ever change my mind on something or have an epiphany regarding one of the things I currently have no idea about, I'll probably reblog this post with an addendum or something, but until then...
Uh. Yeah. Hope this helps the people who wanna get into analyzing Limbus stuff but don't know where to begin. Or just people who wanna understand the method to my madness a little bit better.
I'm gonna go to sleep now, cause it's 4 AM already and I spent like the whole fucking night writing this post.

Hello, hello <3 How are you?
I loved your writing!
The HC from the Heartslabyul group as parents left me thinking: how would Deuce react if, after getting married and having his own girls (Deuce is 1000% the father of a girl), he met an ex "friend" of his time as a delinquent who hasn't changed much in his ways and REALLY wants to piss off poor Deuce
(sorry, my English is unga bunga ༎ຶ‿༎ຶ)
-🌙
Hey 🌙! Mx Tattly is happy to share what she knows on the matter. He's happy to see you're sharing the same girl dad!Deuce vision. Here is the information you've requested!
Show of power, show of growth
Characters: Deuce x GN!Reader (romantic), unnamed older daughter and unnamed younger daughter
Warnings: threats, mentions of violence
By opening the document, you agree to Mx Tattly's terms of confidentiality.
-ˋˏ’✄┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈
Being part of an elite anti-mage division was an achievement both you and Deuce were infinitely proud of, but he had to admit the job was very time consuming
And, since he now was a father of two girls that he bent over backwards for to fulfill their every whim, Deuce has his schedule full to the brim
Despite his busy schedule, he loves taking his girls out for walks especially during the evening, an activity he has been doing ever since his cuties were just babies
It started as a chance to give you, his spouse, a few moments to yourself to relax and destress while he bonded with the babies
He'd point at various trees, shops, the sky, and talk about them to his kids, until they were old enough to start doing the same on their own
It was a late summer evening when Deuce came home after a stressful day, and the only thing he could think of to destress was to spend time with his family
Deuce was not lucky enough for his daughters to want any indoor activities, though
So he just accepted his fate and took his little ones for a walk in the neighborhood
His older daughter, the cutest chatterbox in the world, was swinging his left hand back and forth as she pointed with her free hand at the neighborhood cats, giving them names and making up stories about their lives
His younger daughter, a quiet observer, was holding his other hand while she occasionally asked her older sister or dad questions
It was an evening like any other, nothing seemingly out of the ordinary
Yet, something felt...off
Even without his specialized training, Deuce had always been able to tell when someone was watching him, overly curious eyes burning holes in his back
He turned his head around, and saw the person looking at him
A young man about the same age as him was walking towards him
He was wearing a jacket Deuce recognized as a sign of one of the city's smaller gangs, whose members focused on shoplifting and public disturbances
Why was this person approaching him?
“Oi, Spade. Been a while since I last saw ya. Middle school, maybe?"
At first, Deuce had no idea who the guy in front of him was
"Sorry, do I know you?"
The guy scoffed, looking offended by the idea of Deuce not remembering him
"Come on, man. Heard through the grapevine you're a cop now, but that doesn't mean you have to forget your old shoplifting buddy."
The words made his eyes widen and he tightened the hold he had on his girls as an old memory came to him
He was in middle school when him and an old classmate, Kateur Pilla, stole a few bags of chips off a shelf in a local shop without getting caught
"There ya go, ya remember me after all!'"
The memory brought a bitter taste to Deuce's mouth and his face was burning with shame, but he was brought back to reality by a small hand squeezing his
"Daddy, what's shoplifting?"
The guy's eyes fell on the source of the tiny voice, Deuce's oldest child, making Deuce shiver and pull his daughter behind him
“You even have kids now! Damn, man, you really became a good-for-nothing goody-two-shoes.”
The entire existence of this guy in his family's vicinity made his skin crawl
His grip on his older daughter tightened and he picked up his youngest
"At least I did something worthwhile with my life. Now scram."
“Aw, come on, you really can't spare me a chat?”
"No, not really.”
Deuce's response came through gritted teeth
His self control improved tremendously during the years, only because he has learned how to redirect his attention towards something else
In this case, his seemingly oblivious daughters
But he still felt the burning urge to grab this guy by the collar
“Not even if I promise to give you some info? Paid info, of course. Some guys I know got their hands on some stuff that's for sure illegal. How about we have a chat, hm? Or are you still that dumb to refuse such a golden opportunity? Man, cops really are stupid.”
His tone changed into something more condescending, even though he was still a small nobody compared to Officer Spade, member of the Queendom of Roses' anti-mage division
…but Deuce felt his younger daughter cling onto his jacket, feeling the intimidating air Kateur was trying to scare Deuce with
His blood pressure started rising, and he started slightly shaking, trying his best to control the urge to kick Kateur away from the innocent eyes of his kids
"Maybe you didn't change after all. What's that badge for if you're still the same dumbass you were years ago? Wanna go steal some cigs?"
Deuce felt his hands shaking
But before he got to push his girls away and do something he regretted, he heard a familiar voice call his name
"Deuce? Honey, what's happening?"
With your talent for appearing wherever there's trouble, you made a beeline to your family, disregarding the presence of the guy and picking up your oldest kid
Without a second through, he handed you your second child
“Go home. I have something to deal with.”
You nodded and walked away with your confused and slightly scared little girls
Now that Deuce was finally alone, he had the opportunity to punch this guy for daring to disturb his family
...but he chose not to
“Listen here, ya punk.”
The guy flinched back as Deuce's voice boomed, obviously not expecting to be so rattled
"I am a good man now. I have a family. And I don't allow any human trash to speak to me that way.”
Cracking his knuckles, Deuce stepped closer, and the guy was backed into a corner
“Scram. Don't bother me or my family again, or I’ll forget I'm a good man.”
Kateur realized he has crossed a line, so he just tsked and walked away empty handed
Before he returned home, Deuce walked around a bit to shake off his anger, directed at Kateur... and directed at himself
Why wasn't he able to just ignore the guy?
Was Kateur right after all? Did Deuce really not change at all?
..No, he must be wrong, Deuce did not use violence, which was good
But he still threatened the guy, and that wasn't good
…Not arriving at any satisfactory conclusion, he eventually decided to just go home
You watched how Deuce walked into the living room of your small apartment, your girls welcoming him with open arms and high spirits, a striking contrast to not too long ago
The moment Deuce saw them, he smiled warmly and thought to himself how they inherited your talent to make him better
When your older daughter kept asking Deuce again about what "shoplifting” meant, you sent the girls to their room so you could discuss with your husband what happened
He told you everything that went down before your arrival, expecting to be scolded for losing his temper, like a small child waiting to be sent to the corner to think about what he'd done
"To be honest, you did great! The girls are safe and happy, and you managed to shoo away the guy without getting physical. That's the best outcome I can ask for."
..You were right
He thanked you and gave you a kiss on the forehead for reassuring him before you walked together to your daughters' room to spend some time together
And you sighed with relief after watching Deuce relax as he played together with his daughters
He would have to change his usual route for a while, just to make sure they wouldn't be bothered again
But if he'd have to face the guy again, he knew he could do even better than that

freeform ask here, do you have any Thoughts about lizzie and/or bigb :0 !
I have. Many especially since fairy fort pov was my descent into darkness arc but it's been a good second since I've watched it and I honestly don't really trust my own opinions about them anymore.
One trait of Bigb's I tend to rotate alot is his cowardliness and how that actually harms both him and those around his. His boogey episode of LL (FAV OF ALL TIME) is the perfect showcase of this, how you watch him go all around the server looking for an opportunity to kill and everytime there's just. a little something that isn't perfectly in place that makes him hesitate long enough for the moment to pass.
His scuffle with Jimmy and Martyn is maybe one of my favourite moments in the series next to Martyn and Cleo's bridge conversation in how it showcases some of these guys' core traits so well.
Martyn is more or less a perfect target here if one wants to go for the unga bunga me hit you with sword method of boogey-killing. He's in iron, not on high alert and actively antagonizing Bigb. Jimmy is present but so is Lizzie so it turning into a 1v2 is not likely.
I can't get over how sad he was about killing Cleo btw LMAO i forgot how good this was
Martyn urging Lizzie to kick Bigb out after that just echoes the sting more too, especially when you consider how Martyn is a traitor himself. Martyn and Bigb as foils my beloved.
This is why the small things he did for Pearl in LimL really stuck out to me, like when Scott punched her and he immediately puts himself between them. Or him laughing in Martyn's face and calling him "weak" in SL. It's like. very tiny subtle character development but it's real I swear.
As for Lizzie I think one thing I don't see mentioned a lot is how. Genuinely resourceful and clever she is? Like she's obviously not the greatest PvPer, so in LL as soon as it becomes her job to kill she starts farming for rockets so she could use a crossbow. She's also the first person afaik who made a working ender pearl teleportation thing, since the server broke Etho's one lol. Idk I'm a huge sucker for "character who is not strong in the traditional sense evens the playing field with their own craftiness" and Lizzie very much falls into that for me.
LL Lizzie much moreso than SL Lizzie cus. y'know lol.
It's even funnier when it goes full circle with with her-- or, ""Pearl"" boogey killing Grian in LimL and the trap doesn't work so she just. punches him into it.
Of course it never seems to quite surpass the sheer might of good survival skills and PvP but like with Tango I appreciate the creativity when it pops up.

Okay it's time for me to rant about Digimon again because. Because. I want to talk about this-
These two clowns (affectionate) tried to fight giant monsters with their bare hands. Which is how they ended up getting strangled. Tai thought it was a good idea to poke Shellmon. With no sense of critical thinking, he decided it was the best idea. Matt was trying to save TK, with no regard to his own safety. He could die right there and who cares, right?
I'd argue these two were actually at their worst when the digivolution occurred.
Tai: Reckless idiot moron, angers monster with unga bunga tactics, could have put the rest of the group at risk if he and Agumon didn't sneak a snack earlier
Matt: Also reckless idiot moron, puts TK's safety above his own life, was perfectly ready to die for his brother, sees himself as disposable as long as TK is safe
Not only is this a perfect example of their flaws, but this behavior also leads directly into both SkullGreymon and Matt's fall to Cherrymon.
With SkullGreymon, I feel like Tai wasn't just taking known data (partner in danger, Digimon must be fed, etc.) and executing it at random. I feel like he was trying to recreate the events that led to Greymon. Other than feeding Agumon too much, what does he do? He runs up to the giant monster and yells at it.
In desperation, Tai does what he knows has worked in the past. He's willing to face certain death trying to unlock the Ultimate level. By now, he understands that digivolution helps protect the group, and he's putting all the weight on his shoulders.
But the crests rely on personal growth to work. Tai isn't growing. He's not ready. He's lost and confused and doesn't know anything except he's the only one with a crest. Result? SkullGreymon.
Matt had plenty of stupid moments similar to this (i.e.- putting all the weight on himself and throwing himself into danger, though he's more focused on TK only rather than the whole group). I think the reason most of those moments didn't result in dark digivolution is because Matt is more introspective. He's more likely to ruminate over something for a million years instead of taking action. Which leads me to Cherrymon.
Cherrymon plays with Matt's insecurities. He's already worried that TK is spending more time with Tai (and the rest of the group, though Cherrymon focuses it on just Tai). TK's recent victory in Puppetmon's gun game proves he can protect himself. Between this and his growing connections to others, Matt feels useless. He's made his entire existence about protecting TK- the very thing that created Gaurumon to start with.
I always wondered why there was never a dark digivolution after this. Because I am a fucking nerd, I did some research and BlackMetalGarurumon wasn't actually released yet. It was on a card that would come out three months after this episode aired. So let me introduce to you-
SkullMammothmon digivolves from WereGarurumon, existed when this episode aired, and is a "skull" Digimon as a nice thematic bonus. Imagine if Matt came riding back to the group on this big guy! The SkullGreymon parallels! The Tai and Matt parallels! The wasted potential!
Anyway...
I love how Tai and Matt are both idiots who would readily give up their lives to protect others. But they're also so different. Tai does stupid things for the sake of the entire group. Matt does stupid things because he sits on his personal issues too long. Tai does the first thing that comes to his head, whether or not it's actually a good idea. Matt will suffer from behind-the-scenes angst and not tell anyone ever. Unlocking Greymon/Garurumon stems from their issues, just as they unlocked the Ultimate level through their strengths.

There are a handful of words in this world you only know from very specific contexts from literature.
Ire, for exemple; an old word for anger. You know it, you can recognize it, but you would never use it in your everyday life. Nonplussed is another, a word meaning either surprised or not surprised at all, which you understandably can really rarely find the use for.
Another one is smitten. As in, to be smitten. From the verb smite, meaning being struck, being hit. To be smitten is to be devastated by affection, to feel a love so strong it's akin to violence.
Right now, however, you wish to use this word. Smitten. Devastated. Struck with unspeakable power. You are feeling it, mr Scoob.
"So, what do you think?" Artoria, Caster, girl who can single-handedly reduce you to the sorry state of ancient Victorian-era resident, twirls twirls on herself. "If I can change my spirit origin for this summer, I think I'd like an outfit like this."
You are thinking a lot of things right now. A lot of things right now. So many they're straining the waistband of your boxers. If you had to try to transcribe your current thought process though, it would look a little like this:
TUMMY TUMMY TUMMY oh god I need my face between those breasts her pants are so loosely tied together it looks like they're gonna fall any moment GOD THIS HINT OF HIP her bracelet's so shiny her wrist's so thin I wanna bite I wanna bite I wanna bite IS SHE SHOWING ANKLE fuck if I leave hickeys on her everyone's gonna see and she bruises so easily I wanna do it I wanna do it I NEED to imprint my hands on those thighs I NEED THOSE FINGERS IN MY MOUTH
"It LoOkS vErY nIcE." You mutter instead, fighting for your fucking life to organize your thoughts into something that isn't unga bunga tits.
"Say that again?" Artoria, sweet angel that she is, asks, completely unaware that she is holding your dick in a chokehold.
For a few seconds, you stay silent. There is... literally no way for you out of this. You glance at the side. Hurling yourself out of the window sounds incredibly appealing, but unfortunately with the way the room is configured she will catch you before you make it.
Defeated, you look away from her, and respond through grit teeth: "I said you look nice."
You don't see her face. You do hear, however, a sharp breath, followed by a little: "Oh."
Fairy eyes. What a crock of shit. Wouldn't it be nice to be able to be respectfully horny for your homie, but nooo your every intentions have to be laid bare to her soul, including, you assume, how much more than nice you think she looks.
"... Hey do you want to-"
"For the love of god please let me fuck your tits."

I'm having a moment its fine
So my birthday was the first of the year and as per tradition between me and my older brother, we hang out together and play video games or watch movies or some shit it depends.
Now this time he kindly brought his copy of the game Outlast, a game I loved back when it first came out but hadn't played since so I was hyped as shit to play and old favourite and chat with my brother.
We are having a blast having the pissed scared out of us and having good old nostalgia moments as certain parts of the game become more memorable to us.
But then we get to our absolutely favourite part in the game in which you meet one of the antagonists Rick Trager! Rick was my favourite character because of how eerie yet cool he was and spoke in this calm almost charming voice as he did fucked up things to you (Spoiler warning, he punches your lights out and revokes finger privileges)
But, when he started to talk, hearing his voice after so long I went "Wait a fucking minute!!" and started googling shit like I was a scientist making a breakthrough!
The voice actor was Alex Ivanovici who played... you know... JOHN!!!
My poor brother had to sit through my caveman brain moment as I went "Unga Bunga its John!!" Despite the fact he has never played TDPA (...yet...)
I just always find it really interesting getting in to certain media then realising a voice actor or actor has always been there you just never notice until THAT moment!!!
Okay I'm done now... BYE!!!

and now the ghost!polites au has me thinking,, there’s just so many angst and fluff possibilities and it’s making my brain go unga bunga in a very good way.
cause what if when polites first revealed himself to odysseus in the underworld, odysseus didn’t think it was actually real for a moment? like he thought that this version of his best friend that he was seeing, bloodied and disheveled with a haunted look in his eyes, was just some trick that some god or monster or maybe his own mind inflicted on him to punish him further? it takes a moment for it to really sink in that he is the real polites, just in ghost form, but he honestly doesn’t know if that makes him feel better or worse.
and after the two of them discovered that he can still be touched and feel things as a ghost, and odysseus has a hell of a time wrecking his shit and putting a well overdue smile back on his face, they share a very very long hug. and they both try to hide it but they definitely start to cry, at least a little bit. polites holds onto him almost desperately, clinging onto the only semblance of warmth he’s felt since he died. and for the first time in a while, odysseus feels like he truly has his best friend back.
if you couldn’t tell, their friendship makes me crazy - fluffvoid
SCREAMING CRYING THROWING UP RIGHT NOW! You really understood the assignment, cause this is that perfect middle ground sweet spot toeing the line between angst & fluff
I mean, why would Odysseus trust this manifestation with his friend’s face? The gods are fucking cruel & he knows they’d find some sick humor in this. So I can say with 100% certainty that he & his men would all turn their swords on the intruder, despite how hard he’s trying to convince them otherwise. But even just since Polites died til now, they’ve lost so many men, & so many gods have got in his way, Odysseus is skeptical & paranoid. He thinks maybe Poseidon got wind he was going to the underworld & pulled some strings with Hades, or someone else who has beef with him. But could you imagine Odysseus yelling at him, saying he’s not real, & how it’s a disgrace to Polites himself for “stealing his face” just to mess with his head. Maybe even going as far as to order his men to ignore the manifestation. If if you like things even more on the sad side, what if Polites starts tearing up after Odysseus yells at him & says some pretty nasty things & that’s when it dawns on him that this might be the real Polites… Circe did say they’d be going through the underworld…
& he feels horrible for treating his friend like that, but he can’t take anything for granted, he had to make sure before he could trust him. After they get back, he wants to apologize to him for literally everything, but he doesn’t even know where to begin & takes a few days for him to build up the nerve
But it’s been maybe a month or 2 since Polites returned when they make the discovery. Because it just felt so wrong seeing his friend so upset. & yeah, everyone gets sad, especially if they’re a soldier who went through the trauma they did, especially if they’re a dead soldier, but the fact that it’s Polites wearing that frown just makes it hit so much closer to home because if he’s upset, what hope do the rest of them have?
& at first, Polites doesn’t even want him to try because he just knows he’ll phase through him & it won’t work, & that’s just 1 more thing that strips him of his humanity. & that would just hurt too much to bear, to be reminded of all the fun they used to have but never would again… & the Odysseus’s hand is able to slip inside his form & by the gods that feels horrible in the best way. & he slaps a hand over his mouth & they’re both staring at each other with wide eyes before Odysseus gets the most wicked yet curious grin like “oh Polites” in a singsong voice & he’s already giggling up a storm, slowly floating away before he grabs his ankle & yanks him back down. & all the while Odysseus is talking about how everyone’s missed his smile & laugh & his teasing is just as flustering as he remembers
But omg the first hug they have after they get back is gonna be literally everything to me oh my god I can actually feel the pain in my chest! They’re so emotional, literally clinging onto each other for dear life. & Odysseus kinda sinks into his form, but it’s ok because he’s mostly there & that’s enough
#asks#anon ask#fluffvoid#this fic is gonna make me BAWL#i just know it#epic headcanons#ghost!polites#polites#odysseus#epic musical

Re: disassociating during crisis moments.
So back in 2016 there was this massive fire where I lived in Fort McMurray, Alberta. You can google it and find tons of stuff about it, it was crazy.
Anyway, the entire city of about 80k people had to evacuate immediately. No time to pack, no time for anything, just get your family and get the fuck out. Now, I'm usually a very anxious person who doesn't handle stressful situations very well, but....I can't explain it well?
It felt like it wasn't real. None of it felt like it was actually happening. The whole time I was oddly calm about it, and it felt like I was watching a disaster movie or something it was so weird. About, idk, 4 hours later the shock settled in, but in the moment I was just watching myself go through the movements. It still doesn't feel real sometimes.
Anyway, yeah, disassociating during crisis moments. Same.
I think it’s a built in survival technique that’s leftover from our unga bunga days

VAMPROMUNDA - a Death and the End
It's finally happened, folx. In one Very Hard operation, I both lost a ganger to permadeath and levelled everyone as far as they could go. They can't even buy stat upgrades. Their XP is banked, useless; their equipment mostly Tier V, with a few Tier VI pieces picked up after battles. Nothing else remains beside the slot machine of loot completionism, and I'm not here for that.
The story wrote itself, once again; that last op had two other Escher gangs constantly crossing swords with the Gehenna Babies, in encounters where I was having to break a sweat to win despite the unga-bunga behaviour of the AI. Couple that with the Goliaths who took down the Mighty Zhao (shredded by autocannon fire from two separate overwatches, RIP) and it's easy to imagine the girls finally coming home.
Here they are at rank X, fully levelled, as finished as they're ever going to be.
BEATRICE - Deadeye - highly reluctant to swap weapons or carry anything. She's there to shoot people, with a plasma gun that's supposed to be "rare as clean air" according to the story mode, but everyone and their dog seems to have a bunch of 'em kicking around. Beatrice hogs all the Tier VI gear luck - sidearm, main gun and shoulder armour are all the best gear we found so far. Don't ask how long it took me to understand that Field Awareness is a good skill and you need it to deal out those occasional 200 damage one-shot-one-kill moments.
CURRENT WHEREABOUTS: probably found another gang, maybe founded one herself...
SORCHA - Servo-Tech - ever since she lost an eye and got herself a bionic replacement by the last post from uphive, the little rich girl has been my second most effective ganger. Give her a low-ammo-count pistol and something to carry in her free hand, and her skill combo lets her chain out an insane number of headshots per activation. Also, she can nip around the map with free uses of ziplines, lifts, doors etcetera - no efficiency cost for interacting with them at all. Sorcha is a stone cold killer and has ended up carrying the gang a couple of times toward the end.
CURRENT WHEREABOUTS: disappeared with the gang stash of over 66,000 credits...
HAZEL - Saboteur - I have a confession to make, dear readers - I can't quite get the hang of the Saboteur. Hazel has changed builds multiple times as I try to make gunslinger, dual wielding sword girl or special weapons field control work. Her inbuilt grenades weren't up to much in the higher tier missions, so she started carrying the pile of meltabombs I was picking up and doing more damage with those than any of her weapons. What she WAS good at, consistently, was grabbing a piece of mission loot in each hand and legging it off the map ASAP. Not especially exciting, but extremely helpful.
CURRENT WHEREABOUTS: probably hanging with Sorcha and living the high life...
BEETLEJUICE - Brawler (Leader) - Most Valuable Fighter on more occasions than anyone else, and a total wrecking ball. Learning that her Heroic Assault could consistently one-round anything she touched was a game changer, as was the extreme masochism build where putting her into Wounded status makes her far, far more dangerous. She only got taken out three times - once in a pit fight where I was overconfident and let her get mobbed, once by chemical burns from the unstable barrels she was carrying, and once by a fluke headshot from halfway across the map (it's fine, Sorcha saved her and got the bag). In that last fight she was the last to extract and I'm definitely imagining her covering the others, then throwing down her weapon at the feet of her pursuers...
CURRENT STATUS: returned uphive to face a mother's justice...
This is the ending for Necromunda gangs: either your campaign peters out in a sputter, you disband after a total bodying, or you reach a point where they're so good you only bring them out for the occasional one-off giant-killer experience you're hoping to lose. That's the good ending. I'm glad I got there.
I'm actually tempted to start doing Let's Plays again...
#this isn't vampires#this is VAMPROMUNDA#that's it for this gang though - boring to play now#RIP Zhao I shall miss you
