Unexpended Hope 2
part one
Tim wanted to lay at home at the Manor on the couch and work on his case. He hates galas. He's the best at them but that does not mean he likes it. Dick realizes that Damian's been missing for over a hour so Tim volunteered to go look for him.
He's checked the entire floor above, the cameras in the lobby and he just gets up the stairs for the next floor when he sees him. Tim almost doesn't recognize him for a minute. He has a small smile and is talking with his hands, which is something Damien never does but everything else about him is the same. Damien is talking to someone that Tim can't see.
There's no place to really hide over here so he just stand in the stairway and wait to be noticed. It took a lot longer than Tim thought it would be noticed but in that time he sees the person that Damian's talking to.
It's a girl.
Tim was not expecting to find Damien with someone let alone a girl. Damien seems to be enjoying whatever they are talking about but that doesn't make it any less unusual. She's auburn hair braided out of her face in a teal mid length dress with black accents.
What surprises him the most other than the fact that she is not flinching away from Damien is that she's wearing Damien’s suit jacket.  It's about 5 minutes before either of them notices that he's in front of them.
The two of them exchange a look and then Damien seems to go back to his normal self. he's scowling he's glaring at him like he usually does and he has no signs of what Tim's assuming was happiness that he had seconds before.
“Drake, is there a reason you are here?” Damien sneered at him.
“You've been missing from the party for almost 2 hours. We came looking that you didn't kill anyone” Tim responded back.
The girl that Damien was talking to started to giggle. Instead of glaring at her, Damien tried to pinched her without looking away from Tim. The girl slapped Damian's hand away before he could actually do it.
“Who's your friend?” Tim questions refusing to be the one to break eye contact with Damien first.
“Sarah Lauren” the girl replies, snapping in front of their eyes and then holding out a hand for him to shake.
 He does.
“you're Byron Lauren's daughter right Bruce was just talking to him when I left” Tim smiles his best socialite smile.
it's probably useless now that she's seen him interact with Damian but it's better to be polite. Sarah seems to twitch after he said that. if he wasn't trained as well as he was he wouldn't have noticed.
“If we are done with this Dreadful small talk” Damian brings the attention back to himself. If Tim didn't know any better he would think it would stop Sarah being uncomfortable. “is my presence required back at that Useless occasion.”
“Bruce Needs you for something” Tim says trying not to mention what it was in front of the obvious civilian. There isn't anything Cape related but he'd prefer to have Damian alone to talk to him and that would be going much easier if Damien thought it was a cape thing.
“lead the way back to those horrid party guests.”
Tim does move to leave them back to the party going ahead in front of them but definitely listening to whatever they're going to say behind him
“How do you know him?”  Sarah asks Damian. Damien didn't instantly introduce himself as a Wayne? That's different or does she not know anything about the Wayans and she just didn't put it together.
 “Third brother” Damien replies.
“Third brother, how many siblings do you have?” Sarah questioned
Tim needed to talk to Dick about this. He's the one who keeps up with Damien's social life; he'd know what is going on.

LMMAAAAAOOOOOOO??? ??????
"readers commissioned dead dove tag to be added :)" is insane LMFAO. THAT AND "NOT A KINK GUYS". LOSING MY DAMN MIND. listennnn i underestimated how bad it'd be :(( might be a tiny bit desensitized to the things i read o_o"
yeah. Sounds about right. you pretty much predicted almost every single tag on my next fic (((・・;) wowie . . . am i truly that predictable......./lh
Glad to be spreading my Pressureganda!! i need to get back on and play some more(<- increasingly busy) but good luck in your own Blacksite expeditions o7 !!!
Why if it isn't a re-edit of my own work from less than a day ago. And what I mean by a re-edit, I mean just slapping a bunch of words all over it. I was thinking about it too much and needed to get it out of my brain. And I still have it on my brain and in my hands, so I failed. If you want to view it without the words, I do have a previous post up. :>
I couldn't stop chuckling the first few times as I was editing it. It was just too amusing and accurate. I love Pressure. I love reading whump. I love @lunarleonardo. I will never not find this amusing.

Author's Note : For my beautiful and favorite niece @sarahscribbles, for her Birthday Celebration, using her prompt "You never have to fear that you’re losing me." Enjoy, my dear 💚

⊱ ─ ༓ ── ⋅•⋅⊰ ─  ⋅ ∙ ∘ ☽ ༓ ☾ ∘ ∙ ⋅  ─ ⊱⋅•⋅ ── ༓ ─ ⊰
You needed to be closer to him, and dull pain flared to life as you shifted in your seat. The effort to move even that much after the grueling mission was taxing, but the comfort he provided was worth more than the unexpended energy. Fingers weaved together as your temple found his broad shoulder, and you breathed a long sigh of relief.
At long last, the adrenaline had begun to fade from your system, and your senses slowly switched off. And once at cruising altitude, the Quinjet’s engines mercifully drowned out the other Avengers’ voices inside the cabin; Tony and Steve were arguing again - this time over why they had failed to acquire the intel they were after, and it seemed like the disagreement was going to last all night.
You and Loki were the only team members not participating in the immediate post-mission analysis, because as long as you were both returning home safely, you considered the expedition a rousing success. And there would be plenty of time for discussion later; for now you just wanted to enjoy the proximity of your lover.
Heavy eyelids drifted closed, and your lips curved into a soft smile as you felt his press against your hairline. The mission had been harrowing, but moments like these - the quiet intimacy of shared relief - almost made it worth the stress.
Almost.
An image flashed in your mind, causing your heart to thud momentarily in your chest. The team had been split into two groups, and as you, Loki and Steve infiltrated the facility, you found yourselves ambushed by a swarm of Hydra agents armed with flamethrowers.
Ordinarily, it wouldn’t have been that significant, but the terror in Loki’s eyes certainly was. The entire ordeal had only lasted for a second or two, but his fear was palpable, and so was the heat. The woosh of the flamethrowers overpowered Steve’s shouting, and the flames singed your clothing as Loki yanked you behind him.
His seidr was unusually quick at that moment. Normally, he preferred drawing his combatants out into clever banter in between blows; it was his favorite method of distraction and interrogation in his seemingly endless chest of tricks. But instead, he unleashed a sudden, massive barrage of emerald energy that took the Hydra agents out all at once - before they could even be questioned.
It was impressive, as he always was, but it left you absolutely rattled, and despite how relaxed he appeared on the outside, you knew Loki was feeling the same thing.
And you were sure Steve had also recognized the expression on Loki’s face as his seidr dissipated and reality sunk in. But like all good leaders, he was kindly keeping that information to himself, despite how pissed Tony was that they were returning home with nothing.
It had only been six months since Loki was freed from Thanos’ control. Only half a year separated him from those horrors, and every day you spent falling in love with him meant realizing how close to death it was possible for him to be.
But had Loki’s overreaction been because he feared for his life, or for yours? Was your relationship making everything easier between battles, while simultaneously making them worse inside them?
You knew that letting yourself believe this Asgardian God to be invincible was a mistake, one you couldn’t afford to make. But perhaps you being mortal was a complication neither of you could overlook any longer. Anything could happen at any time, and if relatively simple Midgardian weapons were enough to -
“Something on your mind, dear?” Loki murmured, apparently having sensed the flashes of tension still pulsing in your veins.
He was so talented at picking up subtleties in your body language, much to your own chagrin sometimes. You cracked open an eyelid to peak at him, and were unable to resist a smile as you took in Loki’s serene and exhausted expression.
Too tall for his own good, he had to shift down in the seat to lean his head back and achieve any semblance of comfort. But despite that, he still managed to exude an aura of elegance and solace unmatched by anyone else.
And even with his eyes closed - even while lingering on the edges of sleep - he could still tell when something was off.
“So, are you waiting to share until I’m fast asleep in our bed? Is that your evil plan?” Loki teased after you didn’t answer, just loud enough for you to hear as he shifted his arm to pull you closer.
“What a jerk…” you grumbled playfully, rolling your eyes even as you curled tighter against his side.
Loki only chuckled, his fingers rubbing against your waist, tracing lazy circles as he rested his head on top of yours and waited patiently for your elaboration.
Everyone else on the team had long since settled in their seats for the long flight back to New York, and Tony and Steve’s squabbles had finally died down; the only sound now was Loki’s soft voice in your ear in the darkened cabin.
And while the quiet ambiance was certainly comforting - a welcome distraction from the chaos that had erupted inside that Hydra facility - you were also tempted to start another fuss amongst the other team members, just to ensure no one could hear your conversation.
But doing so might doom Loki to having his personal business shared with the team, and that was something you knew he desperately didn’t want.
Resigning yourself to maturity, you took a deep breath, inhaling the spicy notes of amber, wood, and myrrh lingering on his skin, before answering. “I was just thinking…do you ever second-guess this? I mean, us?”
“No.” Loki’s answer was immediate, as if he had been expecting the question. His hand shifted, molding itself along the curve of your waist and squeezing to emphasize his words. “No, I don’t regret you, my love.”
“That’s not entirely what I meant…” you sighed, but not out of frustration. You were almost afraid to bring it up, worried about speaking it into truth. “Every time we leave the Tower, it could be the last time we…”
Loki twisted in his seat, bringing his other hand to tilt your chin upwards to meet his gaze. His emerald eyes almost glowed in the dim light of the cabin, casting an ethereal, comforting aura around you. Truthfully, you couldn’t be sure he wasn’t actually casting a spell, but you appreciated it all the same.
“No, I don’t regret you,” Loki repeated softly, looking directly into your eyes with the kind of sincerity that made your heart ache for him. “Nor do I regret anything involving you.”
You swallowed hard, pulling your lower lip between your teeth. It wasn’t like you to be this uncertain, and you felt guilty about bringing it up at all, but it needed to be addressed. “But what if something happens to either one of us?”
Loki’s fingers drifted to the frayed seams of your jacket, absentmindedly pulling at the burnt threads as his brow furrowed and unfurrowed. You could almost see the gears turning in his mind as he weighed his options on how to respond before that familiar and confident grin graced his features once more.
“Such little faith you have in me, darling,” Loki replied, his voice dripping with amusement. “I assure you, you’ve nothing to fear…”
His hand moved to cradle your jaw, brushing his thumb across your cheekbone, and he leaned in close, his lips hovering just above yours.
“You know I’d never let anything happen to me…” he whispered teasingly before pressing a gentle kiss to your lips.
You weren’t sure what to feel - annoyed by his joke, intoxicated by his demeanor, or surprised that you were feeling both simultaneously. But even when he was joking, there was a sliver of truth in every word, and if nothing else, he always kept his promises.
“But more importantly,” Loki continued after pulling away, murmuring softly as he rested his forehead against yours. “I’d never let anything happen to you, my dear.”
You nodded, believing every word as you reached up to caress his face. His lips curved into a smile as he pressed them into your palm. How was he so talented at weaving truth and tricks together? How was it so effortless for him to assuage any fear you ever held?
"Promise?”
“I promise…” Loki chuckled, pulling you back to lean against his shoulder. His eyes closed again as you rested together, one hand still lingering on your waist, and the other enveloping yours on your lap.
It was dangerous to be a part of this team, and it was borderline idiotic to fall in love with someone in this same line of work. Not many heroes ever managed to acquire a truly happy life, and maybe this was going to end terribly someday.
Or maybe it wouldn’t. Maybe everything would end perfectly, the way it was meant to. With a God and a mortal, and their unconditional love, anything was possible.

wip game. what's "come crawling" 👀
WAHEY that's the working title of a dooku & ventress fic!! it sounds kinda lurid on second thought. oops. but i think after sidious ordered asajj's death, she might have entertained the thought that dooku would come crawling back (figuratively) because she has a good idea of how unexpendable she was to him, and similarly dooku may have imagined she would crawl back to him despite everything because there's nowhere else for her to go.
no actual crawling is done in this fic because we are talking about dooku and ventress here. instead, you get entrapment and kinda fucked up bonding and MAYBE something wholesome, who knows, the draft is still very rough :'D i'm excited about this one!!

hey, I had some ideas for your IAU:
I know that their power affects some of the boys (like Hyrule’s healing exhaustion or Twilight’s oversensitive senses) but what about the boys who have seemingly harmless powers? Do they have side effects too?
An idea could be that if Legend uses his invisibility for too long, he’ll come back super pale, almost transparent, like, super sick
Or if Wild doesn’t use his powers enough, whether he just doesn’t want to or he’s being forced not to, that he’ll start uncontrollably shaking and trembling with unexpendable energy
Idk, those are just some ideas that I had
I hope you like them :)
Some of them do, yeah!
I’ve mentioned before that Wild has trouble sitting still for long periods of time (he gets better as he gets older, but it’s still tough), but I think you’re right that if he just couldn’t use his powers (or was forced not to) for a longer period of time (a week or two..?) he’d reach the shaking stage.
That’s a cool idea for Legend! I think he would have to use it for a pretty long time to get to that point, but it would be pretty interesting for him to come back all pale.
Let’s see who else... Wind always looks kinda windblown, like his hair rarely stays down. I think during windstorms he has trouble sitting still, and would totally go outside in it if his parents would let him. It’s a good thing he doesn’t live where tornadoes are common.
Sky sometimes does little bird things, and occasionally noises he makes sound more bird-like then human. Warriors runs cooler than the average person, and can get dehydrated if he uses his powers a lot (especially in dry weather/hot conditions).
If Time uses his powers for a long time then his markings take a bit to fade (which can be rather inconvenient). Sometimes he gets a few strands of white in his hair too.
Malon... if she spends too much time talking to horses and things, she might accidentally use her Horse Soothing Voice, which doesn’t totally work on people, but does tend to mellow them out a bit. Plus there was that time she forgot who she was talking to and tried to feed Time a carrot, but in her defense she hadn’t gotten much sleep that week.
And for anyone, if they use their powers a whole ton, they’ll get really tired. Hyrule’s is just more extreme because of the nature of his powers, but everyone gets worn down after a long time blasting wind or changing back and forth between a wolf and a human or just... running really fast. It’s tiring.

Tagged by the lovely @jamietarttsnorthernattitude thank you!
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
106
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
258,188
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Ted Lasso and Macgyver. I've dabbed in a couple others.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Unwritten Rules (Merlin) Running Through Emotions (Ted Lasso) Unexpendable (Endeavour) Side by Side (Ted Lasso) The Unknown Variable (Macgyver)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes, I do try to, it might be somewhat delayed but eventually I do respond! I like to say thanks for taking the time to leave what are often very lovely comments and sometimes chat about canon or plot points.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
That's a tricky one, most of my fics end on a positive note, even if everything is not okay, there's hope that it will be eventually. A lot of my fics are full of angst though, it just gets resolved by the end.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Living Death? This might be because someone left a new comment on this old fic last week, but it does end with Mac and Jack taking the GTO out for a joy ride and I don't think you get much happier than that!
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, I've had the occasional odd comment that I can't figure out but no one has really been hateful.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
No, I'm ace, it doesn't really interest me.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Not really. I have one tiny fic that is a crossover between Merlin and Macgyver though.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Yes, I've had a fic posted to Wattpad without my knowledge. They did acknowledge that it wasn't theirs and was written by me. But it's still theft.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not yet.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
USS Voyager NCC-74656
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I don't want to say never to anything but I've been saying I'll finish my Garden Fic for years and it's still not done.... :(
16. What are your writing strengths?
Bringing the angst! I like to think I'm fairly good at puzzling out plot problems and coming up with creative solutions. I generally get characters voices pretty good too.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I could definitely do with getting tighter on my grammar! There's loads more I want to learn about being a writer and I'm far from perfect. I want to try out and learn from different genres, build my plot structure skills and develop my writing tools. And of course I have a bunch of bad habits. (I do like to start too many sentences with 'And...')
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I don't think I've ever done this but I'm not opposed to it, but I'd want to do it very carefully and be very confident in the translation!
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Pretty sure it was SPN in 2007...
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
How can I choose between them?! It might be When Darkness Falls, I'm having so much fun with this, I've been working on it for a long while now and I'm still not bored, I'm so excited to show everyone the rest of the story and what happens! It's my longest fic by a significant margin and in it I can see all the fics that came before, the ones that built my writing skills to be able to write it, so I'm also fond of it for that reason.
I don't know who's already done this, feel free to ignore but I'm going to try tagging @rosieblogstuff @abubblingcandle @thirteenemeraldcats

There's something sprinting through the marshes in violet, violent hues. Something leaves the crumbling ashen ones strung up about the long-dead trees, resembling broken toys from where the shackle of bone tying them to the gods has been carved and cleaved free. Something stalks even the stalkers through the poisoned waters, and with the flash-fire of a firebomb and the lashing of a sharp-toothed blade he's lunging for the Yellowfinger. Bloodied steel shrieks when pitted against the gold of her warpick, and his assault is relentless as they clash in Farron proper. Furied swings of a dagger meant to hobble and bleed, firebombs bursting in the mire to distract or set aflame, all the while a cruel curved sword aims to catch her unawares-- whatever odd camaraderie and kinship came with their passing exchanges seems at an end with the donning of phantom hues, given the sheer emptiness in his hollow eyes as they crash against one another.
Speak to me in the oldest language. Beat your blood in time with me.
It should at the very least upset that Crow of all would do this to her; but the very thought is brittle-winged, because if there is someone who would it’s him. He who has whittled some strange shape of camaraderie with her would. He who has been with her inside the secret lichen-licked boat she loves to push far where the swamp deepens would. He would. Not with hate nor with terror he would. He would thrice because he now wears the ghost cloth of the purple invader, and that says so sly: I come for you all. I feast on your bones.
Today you are the carrion crow.
Around their ankles splashes of dark mire rise and fall, wrapping around the frantic tempo of their clashing bodies, yellow against violet, violet against yellow, colliding, avoiding, unwilling and unable to escape the violence's gravity he set in motion. Heysel resents what he’s doing; he is too quick and too close and too smart. None of her favored trickery will work at this range. She can count on no spell darting from the bushes, no bolt loosened by the crossbow clattering uselessly at her back. But Heysel also loves what he's doing. He looks more than he coughs more than he speaks and this- his sword cutting the air near her neck, the dagger scraping accents of bleeding entrances through her armor- is the purest shape of conversation, uncomplicated by words. With the mad shadow of him more than him, perhaps. But honest conversation, nonetheless. She doesn’t know if they’ve ever talked like this.
The edges of his blades flash like teeth, attempt to bite something unexpendable from her, again, again. Every time she slides her pick between their killing ends and herself it is almost too late and it makes a noise like a construct’s gnashing. She doesn't quite hear it, regardless. All sound constricts to the wet thump of her racing heart inside her ears and her harsh breathing, growing harsher. Teeth. Again. Teeth. Again. A fight like drowning. She lunges, starving to hook the head of her weapon within the ragged mass of cloth covering him, anything to make him halt, buy a precious parenthesis of advantage; he ducks the attempt as if fluid. Abruptly he sweeps low, aims to open a thigh- gods! Heysel retracts the leg in a back step further than needed right before it can connect, cursing, inserts a deterring swing of her weapon in this slice of space she's been given. Come close and be punished, it hisses, be pushed away. And surprisingly he complies. He moves back, just a little, his hooded face still to her.
Such is the genuine relief that she almost doesn't notice that he'd left something to fall in the new distance created.
And then there is only fire.
No thought remains. Only muscle. It doesn't matter how he managed the sleight of hand to throw a firebomb like this nor why he gambled to do it when he as well was so, so close, so at risk to be caught in the burst- nothing matters, in that blink, except leaving the smoke, the heat. And the foolishness of it she should have known. Oh, crow cherished. Too quick, too smart for her.
He emerges through the explosion like a wraith, and the seconds after stretch long as life and thrice as clear. The gleaming wicked dagger tight in his hand. Plumes of smoke tattering in the wake of his charge. She, caught mid-motion, turning just in time to see it happen, unable to do anything except watching it happen.
He falls almost between her arms. A hard punch registers in her middle, and all her senses clog to a single breathless point as the steel pushes to the hilt inside her. Every breath dies in her throat.
But she knows her own body and the chemistry of herself. Pain will not unravel her yet. Now and only now want can supersede horror. Before he can do anything further- before he can try to retrieve the blade and take half of her intestines with himself- she grips his wrist so very tight so that he may not think to escape, and rams the entirety of her crown-covered head into his. And let the blade sink further inside and let her pick be lost in exchange for the grip, because the point is nothing less than a simple moment of chaos, and she bites into it, she does, her and her empty-palmed bleeding body, oh friend crow, her laugh sounds so blissfully choked as she grapples him and shoves and makes the both of them crumble down into the mire, muck sputtering around them, she sounds so happy as her wounded body climbs to straddle him, her weight and her power still enough to pin. Each motion makes dull electricity conflagrate from where the dagger still lays sheathed in the curled folds of her guts but it doesn’t matter, it’s all defanged now, color and sense, except for the purple beneath herself, purple against which she lifts and collides punch after inexact punch, purple which is her friend, cracking under her knuckles.
“Sam,” she breathes, trembling with effort, clutching his avian neck, keeping his head under the shallow frothing brown-red water as he struggles. “Sam,” just that word, again, a sound so soft- is it bad? That she’s happy, only a little, that they could talk like this? Through the hurt, through the tears, through the questions she has?- “Sam,” and her leather-clad fingers begin squeezing- and that’s another mistake, is it- it is another mistake.
She doesn’t know what possesses the man. She could have sworn she’d almost had him. But something lights him, an unknown vigor born from something she can't name, and he manages in his struggle to find the hilt sprouting from her abdomen and he does what a dying man could only do. He grips it. He yanks it out.
Heysel screams. Not like an animal but like a woman, like a friend, your friend, a full desperate sound all human agony and all magnificent suffering, and that’s quite it. She’s still screaming when he thrusts a blade where her jugular lies, hidden under the yellow wrappings, and then the screams turn to gurgling.
A blur of darkness. A flash of violent violet, like a comet. Time and space bleeding just as she. And her drowning sound, turning staccato, like a last laugh.
Be the carrion crow, Sam. Feast on my bones.
Thank you for the conversation.

to honor the accultant of it all, i think DA verse iago was a sort of record keeper or a quartermaster in the circle that they were in. a desk jockey of some kind. they wouldve wanted to find a position important enough that they were considered Useful and could guarantee at least some security for themselves. not necessarily the right hand of that circle's first enchanter, but the admittedly unexpendable thorn in her side. it let iago get away with a fair amount of their wild magic slip-ups until it, inevitably, went too far one day, and the first enchanter decided they could do paperwork just as efficently while tranquil

Unexpendable
Another day, another night, another pack of vamps. But this time, something is different. When Sam goes missing, Dean turns to unconventional methods. Castiel is lost. Not exactly part of heaven, but not exactly part of earth either. Will helping a stranger find his brother help him find what he’s looking for? An unlikely bond forms between an angel and a hunter. But is trying to save each other enough?
