I know it's a thing on here to treat ppl who are unamused by horoscope shit as wet blankets but frankly there is something uniquely aggravsting abt telling another person your star sign in order to participate in what you assume is lighthearted convo and watching a respected adult peer actively adjust how they feel about you as a person in real time bc of the day of the year you happened to be born on
so a thing about FOMO is that sometimes it turns out things aren't actually that fun or enjoyable for you, and if they're not fun and enjoyable for you, you're not actually missing out on it. there's many things a lot of people are really super into, and it will often feel like you are Wrong for not being into it, and that you're missing out on the thing because you keep doing it wrong. but no! sometimes that thing is just not compatible with how you enjoy things!!
roller coaster for you may feel fantastic and exciting but for me it feels very bad and terrible. i am not missing out on the roller coaster experience by not doing the thing that feels very bad and terrible. the good roller coaster experience was never an option for me to begin with! i may be envious of the way other people have fun on roller coasters, but i enjoy other things that other people cannot relate to. so it goes! diversity of human existence strikes again!
Any other LGBTQ+ Headcannons that are canon is the comic??;)
*patiently awaits Cupioromantic Donnie*
hmm... had to think about this for a while and talk about it with co-author, but here's what we got. we mostly base this stuff on how plausible it is in show/if there's evidence for it. with a dash of personal experience. This only applies to residuum, btw. I have different personal headcanons for these characters outside the comic.
april: lesbian. this is mostly based off of the fact that most aprils get with their caseys & the comment she said to dale. which could be taken as disinterest in dale specifically, but she seemed more concerned with impressing that popular girl earlier and that reads as more... saphic, i suppose. or at the very least homoromantic.
raph: raph is just raph. we look at him and basically just *tv static*. go crazy. all we got is jokes or stuff that has too little evidence to support. so, yeah, he's whatever you want him to be i guess?
leo: trans. already said my reason in the other post. also, gay. if gay were a power source he could power the entirety of the united states for five months straight without a single power outage. failing power grid notwithstanding (< thats the actual word. its supposed to be mushed together like that. wack.).
donnie: as much as i'd like him to be ace/aro spectrum rep, he just doesn't have the evidence in show for us to apply it to him in this comic. it's funny, for being hc as ace so often he sure is the most outwardly romantic/sexual turtle in the show lmao. one! cherry: "you're so cute, but you're so mean! why do i always go for your type?" two! astrogirl?? (whatever her name is) he is very very romantic with her. he has a type y'all. also just look at those two, he's a leg man lmao (bootyyshaker9000 anyone? ha!) anyway. and with the bromance/instant chemistry he had with that one guy in the purple dragons... Pan. or possibly Omni as he does seem to favor... cute brutal femme... Yeah. Omnisexual.
(you have no idea how fucking bad i want this boy to be ace spectrum. hes got the colors y'all!! The Colors!!!!! but alas... i am bound by my canon plausibility creed for this comic)
mikey: ace. possibly ace/aro. he shows interest in literally no-one. we're aware that the common hc is pan but... we know a pan 13 year old, and let me tell you ahahahaha, kids going through puberty are very uncomfortable to be around sometimes, especially around their partners. or crushes. and mikey... well, that boy is ace behavior personified lmao. aces in the back you get what we mean right?? right??? anyway commiting to aroace
i just realized that i’ve probably asked you before to write something and i really apologize for not seeing your BYI post before asking
i’m always wishing the best for you !! your work is the best and i can’t wait to read more <3
Thank you for your apology 🥹
In both my bio and BYI I do state that i don’t like request
Some people seem to believe they can side step this by throwing in a few sweet words here and there, then slap in their request of “wouldn’t it be cool if you wrote an mc who’s-“ or “what if you wrote about-“
had a dream about fyodor and nikolai and it wasn’t even good. they were on american idol but fyodor wore a ski mask the whole time and they didn’t even do well
the thing about yosuke’s shittiness around here (up close and personal, the campout) is that the vast majority of it isn’t doing literally anything for his character. i completely think yosuke’s shittiness is important to his character, but it’s by and large reflections of his own insecurities and flaws. he’s insecure about his masculinity and sexuality, he’s lame, he’s selfish, he’s obsessed with the idea of women, his mouth moves faster than his brain, he doesn’t like himself, and he cares way too much about the societal ideal of ‘normal’. but it’s really important that he’s self-aware! he knows when the things he says are shitty, he knows he’s lame, he knows he’s selfish, he knows he’s putting up a front of being carefree and normal. but there’s absolutely no self awareness here, there’s no recognizing he went too far and apologizing the next day, there’s no regret, there’s not even any self-deprecation, and there’s absolutely no compassion or empathy like he has in serious moments. a lot of what he says is just mean for meanness’s sake, in an execution incongruous with previous behaviour. it’s not even funny!
How do you like buy groceries? How do you know how many onions to buy? How do you keep food from expiring in your fridge? As someone who was mostly raised on hamburger helper and frozen vegetables in the last sentient years living with my father, I can't understand the concept of food saying good, what if you buy too much? How do you know how much is too much when you're buying it?
Anyway maybe people should be allowed to be upset that this show, which spent the first 4+ seasons setting itself up as a narrative where a controlling child abuser is the main villain, and lack of agency as a victim of parental abuse was a major problem to overcome for one of the title characters, did a jarring thematic 180° near the end of the first major story arc (that was originally supposed to be the whole show), and turned into blatant victim-blaming and abuse victim grooming propaganda material.
And the showrunner is also engaging in this victim-blaming and abuse apologism rhetoric and insulting people on Twitter if they question it. Which is... kind of really damning, at this point.
People who are upset about this aren't just "hating on the show" for the heck of it. This is, in fact, reasonable basis to be upset. People are allowed to voice their disappointment after the show wasted their sincere emotional attachment (yes, you should be allowed to have sincere emotional attachments even if it's something silly like a mediocre magical girl cartoon) and spat in the face of its own story and themes and characters.
Also a worrisomely significant segment of the fanbase has gone very mask off in starting to regurgigate and agree with this abuse apologia rhetoric, encouraged by the canon validating it.
Rewatched s7 recently too and Ive come to the conclusion that s7 is really so so bad because they cared more about reintroducing the characters by rehashing old plots instead of building interesting (non-racist) stories around those reintroductions. which side note is why its soo CRAZY that buck was so involved in those diaz family plots because that is one of the only New things from s7. Anyways because all that should hopefully be in the rearview I have a bit more hope in s8 and if s8 is bad at least the cast is hotter than ever. And beenado.
yes yes huge agree with all of this!!!! especially buck because like. i mean they touched on everything with him through mentioning stuff in dialogue - it’s almost like they used tommy “getting to know” buck (i say this loosely as an excuse to just drop buck lore - but ultimately his actual s7 storyline was just being eddie’s partner. and also bisexual. which is something… for sure!
reading the jujutsu kaisen manga and i've reached the moment where it's just not fun for me anymore. like i love the characters, but it feels like the story is set on inflincting the maximum amount of pain on them and i just? don't care for it? i don't know how to phrase it, but it just feels boring to me. it's essentially 'expect the worst and then watch it happen' and that's just not an interesting way of telling a story to me.
