tentative prices and examples below... for an extra character maybe like. +25%. I dont think fullbody v halfbody would have diff prices I won't do like shoulder up portraits.
these sorts might be ~$15 (a little more for a more complicated background)
and then this sort of style (more cleaned up like first example) ~$30
and i could do sketches for like $5. coloured $10? these could be traditional too maybe..
#im paying myself like minimum wage w these prices.#i might also do. kofi requests for catboys. just ingeneral maybe 4 da blog#id do fandom catboys gimme ur blorbo ill put cat ears on him.#such undiverse examples i can draw things that arent these two i swear.#i might do furs + nsfw... if this is more interesting to u..#commissions#the nsfw. i havent attempted to draw something that isnt these two thoughso prev statement may not be accurate here. we'll see i'll. try.

One thing that I have to admire with Dot and Bubble is that it made me realise the lack of diversity around me and the media I consume.
I didn’t realise that The Doctor was the only person of colour in the whole episode until I went on social media after the episode. I didn’t fully pick up on the racist tones that Lindy was saying until I went on social media. Yeah, I noted that she sounded hateful, but I just put that down to classism and that she didn’t want to be around people outside of Finetime.
Personally, I come from an undiverse area. Everyone in my class is white. Everyone I work with is white. If I were to see someone down the street, 9 times out of 10, they would be white. So, the lack of diversity didn’t stand out to me at all!
This episode was really interesting and I loved it!

my one allocated uspol doomerism post
i don't have a ton of IRL friends and I'm the only one* who is trans and I didnt really realize how isolating this really is. I'm pretty sure none of my major rights are in immediate jeopardy given I live in WA, but I'm just thinking about how come January I could be a felon. I could lose access to my trans healthcare. like a good chunk of my main friends are white cis men and while they're obviously like, progressive guys (otherwise they wouldn't be my friends), they don't have any of their personal civil liberties immediately at stake. this kind of stress is nauseating without an outlet of someone I'm close to to commiserate with.
* one is nonbinary but doesn't personally consider themselves trans. I'm the only friend I have that has medically transitioned as well
sidenote posting this it feels like I have a horribly undiverse friend group or something. I want to be clear I have like 3 friends and have struggled to make any friends more since moving here. I'm not cultivating a white cis guy framework for my friends, I'm just lonely and autistic

We deleted the comment and left this in the notes of the first chapter. We feel inclusivity is very important in spaces exploring plurality in a healthy manner and we don't want anyone to feel unwelcome in our stories. I hope this statement helps conveys our feelings on the topic.
🎹aaaaand someone decided to leave a shitty comment on our Xion fic as it’s first comment 😭 ugggh
#chirps#🎹kadie#Xion in our fic has dark skin and afro centric hair because inclusive KH artists have given her reinterpretations that include those#The KH series is very undiverse in it's main protagonists and that is a negative against it#Plus this fic again is passively critiquing KH already by making it pro plurality so it's important to critique it's other shortcomings

Internet society is just putting women back into a forced stereotype and mentality they want them to act as, under the guise of being progressive instead of letting women express themselves how they want without shaming them tbh
People are just reverting back to the 1800s along with eating mummified bones
And I'm tired of media trying to tell women what type of woman they should aspire to and shaming FREAKIn SNOW WHITE because she was a victim and needed rescuing?? And now we can't have romance in Disney ever because WHY APPEAL to a huge % of little girls who need positive romance representation in media! Let's just make everyone a supposedly progressive girl boss who hates men!
"There's not enough female characters everyone gravitates to the male characters" so the solution is let's add more women and give them the same personality and make them act morally superior to everyone else and gatekeep the female viewers who Will not relate to these types of characters. HAVING an all female cast is just as undiverse as an all male cast, the solution isn't to ham up one gender over the other the point is to maKE AN INTERESTING STORY WITH DIVERSITY. Sailor Moon did great with most of the characters being female as it FIT THE NARRATIVE and wasn't just shoehorned in. Why is it SO HARD to treat females like human beings instead of making them some kind of diversity bargaining chip.
And then women get shamed if they don't like these pandering movies just because a woman is in it, and yet ALL OF OLD DISNEY had a TON of female characters that became beloved movies over time so it has nothing to do with womens internal misogyny maybe your pandering stories just don't appeal to most women. Let women like what they like, stop forcing them to make a checklist of things of what someone thinks they have to do for the sake of what's inclusive, its fiction maybe focus more on actual acts of discrimination against women in the real world instead of assuming someone isn't being inclusive because of their media choices, the internet only shows a fraction of a person we need to stop assuming they're misguided or bad people and that WE know better than them.
#im not a fan of people shaming women becsuse of fictional character preferences or what clothes they wear or what music they listen to#becsuse its not befitting an inclusive woman#its just isolating women instead thats what theyre doing and actually thats pretty misogynist to attack women on extremely mundane things#for the sake of virtue signaling#assuming someones intentions are malicious because of their habits idk#was looking at video essays again and got brain rot again over this topix#I FREAKIN SAW THIS GO DOWN ON TUMBLR SOMEONE HAD THE AUDACITY TO TELL SOMEONE THEY DIDNT DRAW ENOUGH FEMALE CHARACTERS#OP WAS TRANS AND IT WAS THEIR FORM OF SELF EXPRESSION DO U SEE HOW THIS IS NOT BEING INCLUSIVE#like nobody would tell someone who draws only women to draw more men that's also so rude????#LIKE IDK JUST LET PEOPLE LIVE????#discourse

hiiii i adore all your stuff!! (very demure 🙂 very mindful 🙂↕️) just wanted to ask ur opinion on something i saw on tiktok about the marauders fandom using diversity amongst characters like a checklist of things to tick off and not actually doing that representation justice as a result? like, for me, i feel like i’d rather people have a go at including diverse characters than simply having everyone be cis, thin, and white, but i do also understand that there can also be harmful portrayals of these things. i’ve written fics (mostly wolfstar) and i still include things like james being desi and dorcas being black, and try to incorporate this into their characters rather than only appearance but also, when they aren’t the pov characters of the fic it can be difficult to go in depth into their representation. obviously, i can go and write a james centric or dorcas centric fic and go more in depth, but that’s just not possible in every single fic. i don’t want my portrayals to be seen as tokenising or anything, but a lot of the fanon identities have become canon in my head. (even like welsh remus and french sirius (which people in the comments of this tt were getting mad about authors using google translate for bc it’s inaccurate and saying that we only included it bc french it “hot” even though the black family motto is literally in french??)) idk, just wondered your thoughts since you always seem to say everything so well! xxx
sorry this is so long!! i love your yaps on tiktok if this warrants a spoken reply lmao <3
HIHI
literally the least relevant part of this but remus is welsh !! she-who-must-not-be-named confirmed it !! also that's,,,, so silly. yeah the motto is french??? and yk what yes the french accent IS hot but i don't think that's why we include french sirius. more so bc,,,, he's french,,,,??
MOVINGGG on i think the most important part of this is that diversity does not necessarily mean that everything is represented to the same depth every single time. one of my friends (hi rachel) phrased it as:
"diversity is a salad not a melting pot"
i think it's incredibly unrealistic to look at every individual work and expect them to go in depth about every single part, especially with side characters.
when we talk about diversity in fandom (or diversity in media in general tbh) for me at least, it just means the diversity being there as a whole. we can find fics that center around desi james and his experiences, we can find fics that center around dorcas' race (thtf is incredible here for example), we can find fics that center around the trans experience - salad pot. everything is available, you just have to find the parts you like the same way you dig in a salad bowl and take what you want.
diversity also means normalising the fact that representations are made. to have them there without necessarily needing to expand upon it??? just normalised. (like trans reg fics obviously go in depth from his pov but BACKGROUND trans reg will just be like "two cresent scars on his chest" 🙂↕️ normalised 🙂↕️). big conversations are necessary as a Whole, but not in every individual work imo.
i don't think it's "tokenising" to not go in depth about them, i think this is,,, a hobby. LIKE MAYBE THAT'S BAD TO SAY BUT i wouldn't call it tokenising to include desi james in a fic without necessarily going into detail about it because that's a very popular hc in the fandom. i think it's worse to say that diversity needs to be perfect or it shouldn't be there at all.
if the pov isn't focused around the character in question then i think it's perfectlyyy fine to just throw in a few things. this is a fun hobby. we don't expect perfection and the fact that this fandom is drawn from the veryyyyy undiverse core material and we've got this!? incredible.
generally i just don't think many people on tiktok get how fandoms work because they've joined when it's become popularised WHICH IS OKAY!!! welcome !!! have fun !!! but fandoms have ALWAYS been about adding diversity and creating queer ships and it feels like recently there's a lot of people policing on what to do when that's just Not How It Works.
i don't think diversity is being treated as a checklist, i think the in depth works are out there, there are people who write in depth povs of experiences and there are HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of fics. we can't expect every single one to have big conversations about it, especially not with side characters. sometimes it's nice to be represented without them making it your entire personality.
i can only speak from the trans and disabled side of it but i KNOW that there's plentyyyy fics that go in depth about that, and i don't expect every fic ever to go in depth. if i want a disability focused fic? i'll find one. other than that yeah it's fine to just say that remus is using a cane rn and not go into detail about it. esp if he's a background character.
does this make sense?? i hope soooo i just woke up and this is the first thing i did xxx
#asks#robyn is yapping again#tldr: stop expecting perfection in a fandom space#and even more so bc i think i saw the EXACT post youre referencing#give us the details you want to see and aid us instead of just saying we're doing it wrong#diversity so important !!!!!#diversity not a checklist 😕↔️

"The gothic horror of everyone being problematic abusive vampires is achieved by making all the cast removed from the structural imbalance of whiteness." They definitely would've removed the structural imbalance of whiteness, but genuinely asking, do you think then the fandom would be satisfied? Because I believe other things would be a problem, like antiblackness, colorism, different seual orientations etc. Which I'm not saying it's on the same level of what a black Louis with a white Lestat represents, or that it would be wrong to have those other conversations, it wouldn't at all... I just find it difficult to put everyone on the same level of privilege or lack of it, where we can finally judge them based on only the actions. I don't know if you're even possible to write/cast a show like that, I have never seen one. D:
It's a valid question! And I agree, that removing whiteness from the leads does not automatically put everyone on a level playing field in terms of identity. (We see that already with how the casting of Assad and Jacob has affected their characters).
And a story where everyone has the same level of privilege of necessity becomes a rather insular, undiverse show, of which we have seen many, many.
The reason I suggested specifically that Lestat should have been recast, is that the goal of the showrunners is focussed around him. I disagree with that choice, because for me Jacob's Louis warranted being the heart of the show from beginning to end, but it is clear that for the showrunners it is Lestat's narrative arc that is reason for telling the story. Whether he is an anti-hero or a redeemed villain, the point is that he is THE protagonist, to the point where he intrudes into the narrative even when there is no reason for him to. It is because of the weight of that characterisation of him, that I would have wanted him to not be white. Then specifically we could see how this experiment of an abuser in season one and a lyncher in season two going to a rockstar (redeemed?) in season 3 would land. Without the cushion of whiteness.
The Gothic element is the most stark when it comes to this kind of fucked-up protagonist, and I think the story with its audacious writing would have been so much stronger if the safey net of whiteness has been taken away from Lestat. (Not to mention, imagine what a role for an actor of colour to sink his teeth into.) The other power imbalances and identity heirarchies would have continued to affect such a Lestat and the other characters - that's fine, it adds to the verisimilitude of a story told across specific histories and locations. But that one specific concept of the monstrous patriarch who is also a romantic lead, that concept for once being removed from whiteness - I think that would have made for some brilliant TV.
(Of course, in that case the producers might have felt more compelled to get a more racially diverse writers room, even additional show runners, and all of that, too, would have been to the narrative's benefit.)

many thoughts about arospec hotch
one of my favorite hotch hcs is arospec (aromantic spectrum - someone who experiences limited romantic attraction/romantic attraction that is not considered "typical" or "alloromantic") & i've been projecting thinking about it a lot
(this turned into a whole essay. more below the cut)
first of all, teenage/young hotch realizing he's arospec, and struggling to come to terms with it.
realizing you don't experience romantic (or sexual) attraction the way media and fairytales portray heroes/protagonists finding love at first sight and living happily ever is difficult, and i hc hotch struggled with the idea a lot.
this hc goes hand in hand with a lot of my other young hotch hcs (you can find those here), especially 1. he's from a small town, and 2. both external and internal pressures to be like his father.
growing up in a small, undiverse town is restricting, especially for someone who doesn't fit into the majority/falls into a minority, and young hotch struggled with imagining the future laid out for him— a successful layers, high school sweetheart, perfect picket house family, etc.— but he grew up thinking he didn't have a choice.
haley
im not 100% a hotch/haley shipper but im a solid supporter, & i do strongly believe hotch loved, and still loves, haley, but i also hc their relationship started because hotch felt pressured to get a girlfriend and chose someone who he felt his parents would like who was also attractive to him and ended up becoming romantically attracted to her while they were dating.
i also hc that hotch's sexuality had a huge impact on his grief for haley. he had found someone he genuinely loved and was attracted to romantically who, at least for a while, understood/was understanding with him, which can feel like a 1-in-a-million thing (especially when you're from a small town where everyone knows everybody), and he lost it.
beth
i hc beth solidified the difference between romantic desire and romantic attraction for hotch; he loved her and wanted to be with her, but he wasn't romantically attracted to her.

I honestly think even ignoring the the transphobia, the racism, the anti semitism, the fascist subtext of the world building, which you shouldn’t; It’s pathetic if you go to bat to defend Harry Potter in 2023. Like. Especially If you’re over the age of 24, then it’s Probably about when it should of been in it’s hay day and to still be “nostalgic” for you, and you are STILL fully defending it. Take the L. You haven’t developed media tastes to move on to since high school. Kids today are playing Fortnite and better shit and probably have better taste than you.
Here’s 8 sources already for the terfs or whoever who will start shit on this post, just on how Harry Potter is shit, not even getting into Rowlings more recent comments. Anyway if anyone else wants to learn here you go.

Hey, lovely!
I have some book asks, if you please! 4 & 16?
Also, how’s Clytemnestra?
4: Quick, you’re in desperate need of a fake name. What character name do you think of first?
Uh, Adelaide McIntosh!
16: Rant about anything book related
The book industry is still incredibly undiverse and more marginalised authors should receive better promotion when writing stories that isn't just about our marginalisation. Support the black and brown girlies writing modern rom-coms, vampire stories and more!
Clymmenstra is really good so far - I've just reached the third part and I love how she's fully established as a character but also other characters like Leda, Helen, even Agamemnon all really come to life, they feel real.
