Matilda belongs to @halcyon-pandion & @frostios
Haunt belongs to @pactwraith
Find out more about them below!
Matilda:
Funny ant who became a real girl through the power of love and SO many chaos drives. She was once Shadow's pet ant who he rescued from being eaten by Knuckles. After being fed chaos drives, Matilda suddenly formed a chao-like chrysalis and mutated into a Mobian. She now is the youngest member of Team Dark, basically a little sister to all of them. Her main goal now is to train enough to become as strong as she can to one day beat the shit out of Knuckles as petty revenge.
Haunt:
Haunt is a recluse who's lived most of his life underwater, an exile from the (Archieverse) Sea Kingdoms, and watched the world from afar without ever really being a part of it. An aspiring henchman new to the surface world who dreams of truly belonging to something great, he's seeking out a superior villain worth his service. His tentacles can reach through solid walls and extend to nearly any length, he practices forgotten sea witchcraft, and no one's ever seen him blink! He's got the power to be a real proper villain, but no spine for it (literally!). He's a bigfin squid! He only ever traverses on his tentacles, finding the texture of the ground icky and overwhelming.

some random worldbuilding stuff for my fish boi au :3
i was thinking about like life cycle sort of stuff? idk. baby mer's are pretty similar as they haven't developed their specific tail type. a baby mer has a slightly stubby almost tadpole like tail. it is usually one color. they just wiggle around. :3 also they bald. no head fins or crests yet.
when a mer is 10 they start showing faint signs of traits they will have when they get older. such as emerging pattering, slight changes in fin shape, and a change in the scales but nothing too noticeable.
around the time they turn 12 they make a sort of cocoon/chrysalis? thing. it looks kind of like a giant pearl but more smooshed looking?
Tumblr media
like a water droplet. it's also semi transparent but only enough to see a shadow of the mer inside. They stay inside for about a week before poping out with their new unique tail and head fins/crests/horns :3
they still aren't full sized and usually reach their maximum length once they turn 18.
-------------------------------
now what happens to a mer when they die? they don't turn to dust but i have a different idea. what does happen is that the ocean rapidly reclaims their bodies. and i mean FAST. then coral, sea plants, and other things seemingly appear overnight turning the now mer shaped sand and rock into an underwater garden.
family members and friends will often maintain these gardens and decorate them with shells and other nice things they find or that the dead mer liked.

Luffy blinks, aren't used to Zoro not getting angry that he tried to steal his soup. He decides to ignore the weird feeling and smiles wide, “UUOOOHH!! Thanks, Zoro!”
Luffy takes a sip and gulps, feeling the warm creamy liquid seeping down his throat and warming his whole body. “So good!!” he can feel Zoro’s eyes zoning in on his bobbing larynx, “Ahh...”
Luffy blinks again as Zoro only stares back with a fond smile, hand still holding the cup.
“You can let go now, Zoro.”

Every caterpillar must enter a stage of chrysalis before becoming a butterfly.
There may be a point where Kyoujurou becomes a butterfly. He is a junior manager, after all, but he must admit that being wrapped in a cocoon has started to make him claustrophobic.

“So I can’t swim anymore?”
“Nope. You already know that.”
“Yeah, but… I used to be really good.”
“Yeah, well, not anymore. Sorry for your loss.”
“Fwahahaha…! I didn’t realize it was this bad.”

my changeling headcanons
they gain the physical abilities of whatever they change into, but not the magical abilities (eg if they change into a fish they can breathe underwater, but if they change into a pegasus they can't cloudwalk)
the only unicorn magic most changelings can use is levitation. Queens can learn other spells.
related to the above two, changeling flight isn't magic like pegasus magic, but purely physical
they can't change single parts of their bodies, but they CAN change into versions of themselves with those parts different (eg they can't change a mustache onto their face, but they can change into themselves with a mustache)
there have been Queens other than Chrysalis, but noling knows what happens to them. some say she kills them at birth, others say she just rips off their manes so noling can tell they're Queens. though rumors abound about one changeling in particular...
prisoners were kept in the old hive, with the dungeon also acting as the mess hall.
to prevent changelings from sharing love among each other, prospective mates had to ensure that they absolutely DESPISE each other before being allowed to mate. some modern changelings continue this tradition by engaging in "prank wars" with their partners. something something nature of humanity.
color motifs (eg the typical blue or Pharynx's purple) had zero significance in hive society.
changelings are ectothermic. please cuddle your changeling partner during the winter.
FIENDship is Magic is canon (the original changelings were accidentally released by Starswirl, Celestia blasted them so hard that holes became a permanent part of their physiology).
different types of love have different flavors (eg, romance is exceedingly sweet, lust is somewhat spicy).
changelings can sense the presence of love, but not who the feelings are for. so no, your changeling crush doesn't know about your feelings, though they might be a bit suspicious that they constantly smell romance from you.
several changelings still have a distrust towards Equestria and the Crystal Empire, due to suffering many casualties after the wedding. many were gravely injured in the battle, and the fall from Canterlot finished them off.
in the hive, it was generally considered weird to have any attachment to their broodmates. most of them did, though.
old changeling horror movies have been banned from reshowings in Equestrian and Imperial movie theaters, much to the chagrin of several changelings.
there are many changelings who did not go through the mass metamorphosis, while also not remaining loyal to Chrysalis. they stay in hiding, due to not being generally accepted in any society.
the aforementioned changelings hate the terms "reformed" and "unreformed", viewing them as unnecessary moral judgments.

Khan Noonien Singh
Khan Noonien Singh (August 15th, 1947-disappeared June 4, 1996) was an Indian activist, politician and dictator best known for his rule as Prime Minister of the Republic of India from 1984 to 1991 and as Khan of the Great Khanate of India from 1991 to 1996. Singh was born in 1947 to Adhar Singh and Hira Dakkar on the very date India officially became independent. Dakkar, notably, was the granddaughter of the famed Indian pirate/revolutionary and member of Britain’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Prince Chhatrasal Dakkar, better known as Captain Nemo. He was one of several hundred ‘midnight children’ born at the very moment India gained independence and like many of them was a metahuman. Singh, in particular, possessed latent psychic abilities that enabled him to quickly understand the emotions and intentions of those around him, a tool which greatly enabled him both as a child and into adulthood. Singh, owing to these abilities, would be discovered, kidnapped and forcibly recruited into the Chrysalis Project, a program intended to develop superior humans. The Chrysalis Project was the brainchild of the post-World War II incarnation of Hydra and was overseen by Wilhelm Strasse, a Nazi scientist smuggled out as part of Operation Paperclip who remained loyal to the ideals of that system. Singh’s treatment at the hands of the Chrysalis Project, which de facto raised him from 1950 to 1958, was extraordinarily mixed as was the case with many metahumans part of the project. On one hand, they were idealized as incarnations of a new super-race that would one day rule the world by the Hydra scientists running the program. On the other hand, the fact that so many Chrysalis subjects were not in line with Hydra’s Nazi racial ideals meant many were subject to physical violence and abuse and the project often tasked the metahuman children with a wide array of dangerous tasks.
Singh in particular was put in a number of heavily perilous situations at the behest of the Chrysalis Project. He was tasked with obtaining Kanamit technology during the brief lull between their departure from Earth and the world’s governments seizing their technology. Singh managed to pilfer only a single device, which was nonetheless enough to allow the Chrysalis Project to rapidly analyze human DNA. Singh was also sent to the underwater city of Rapture in 1959 to obtain plasmids, managing to sneak both in and out undetected thanks to playing off different factions within the city against each other. Hydra viewed the plasmids as a potential tool to augment their own ranks and avoid the need for the likes of Singh to directly father children. Singh also was tasked with carrying out contact with various other large criminal and terrorist cells to offer Hydra’s covert support to the likes of SPECTRE, THRUSH and KAOS as part of efforts to provoke global instability. By the time he reached age 13, Singh had already had dozens upon dozens of brushes with death and killed over 30 people personally. However, at this age, Singh finally came to question the Chrysalis Project’s intentions, recognizing the contradictions that his youth had caused him to ignore before. Singh would lead a small insurrection against Hydra in India, burning down the local Chrysalis Project facility and murdering several of those he knew were operating on Hydra’s behalf within India, most notably the mad scientist Dr. Cyclops. In the years that followed, Singh was somewhat aimless and unsure of what to do next, absent other direction. In other circumstances, he might have become a superhero and he initially did hold the likes of Superman in high esteem. However, in the early 1960’s, the emergence of the mutant community helped push him in a different direction.
The global backlash towards mutants was largely sparked by a belief that being born with superpowers was a result of literally mutation at birth. To many who hated them, mutants were as abominable as any kaiju and for similar reasons. The hostility to metahumans in general was pervasive, but there was a sense that for those who had become superhuman there was some attachment to baseline humanity left. However, mutants did not have to have that attachment and thus, in the view of anti-mutant activists, a distinct threat. In response to this backlash came the rise of Erik Lensherr, known better as Magneto. Magneto advocated a doctrine that mutants were the next stage of human evolution and should seek to take their rightful place as dominant over the rest of humanity, echoing the beliefs of John Wainwright. Singh would quickly come to embrace this mindset, though he welded it with unique elements of his own country’s circumstances. Seeing the destitution and poverty so many experienced in India firsthand–himself having lived through it after fleeing the Chrysalis Project–Singh came to believe that a part of why mutants should dominate was out of a sense of duty to uplift ‘lower’ humanity’s station. In this sense, Singh’s Augment ideology can be understood as a spiritual successor to Gellert Grindelwald’s perspective of wizard supremacy for the good of wizards and non-wizards alike as well as the even earlier conception of ‘white man’s burden’ that was popular in the 19th century. Singh wrote a series of letters to Lensherr outlining his beliefs of this sort and, while Lensherr never formally replied, a number of his later attitudes reflected heavy similarities to Singh’s thought and were a blueprint for his governorship of Genosha in the 1980’s.
Singh was able to lie low until the late 1970’s, when like many other Indian metahumans he was designated an enemy of the state by Prime Minister Priya Duryodhani. Duryodhani, seeking to seize dictatorial power for herself, used fear of civil unrest and metahumans as a tool to justify taking on emergency powers that enabled her to suspend elections and quash dissent by force. Most relevant to Singh, however, were the efforts of Duryodhani’s government to eliminate the Midnight Children and other metahumans. Hundreds of them were taken into government custody and subjected to abusive medical procedures that left most of them depowered and sterile. Singh himself was imprisoned and subject to this horrendous treatment, but managed to escape with some portion of his powers remaining. Singh was reportedly hidden by a man named Raghaven, who due to a psychotic break perceived Singh as his own son Raghu whom had been a victim of police violence during the Emergency. Eventually, the Emergency ended in 1977 and Duryodhani was removed from power in subsequent elections, but an embittered Singh vowed vengeance. He concluded the only way to protect metahumans in India was for them to seize control of the state apparatus. Singh over the next several years worked to build a power base, making contact with outside metahumans such as the Tomorrow People and Lensherr’s Brotherhood of Evil Mutants in a bid to gain support for his plans to seize political power. Within India, Singh recruited the bulk of surviving Midnight Children to his side and additionally built support among opposition to the regime, in particular focusing on dissenting government officials like Indu Sarkar and Vikram Malhotra (whom Singh gained the loyalty of by having a mutant ally of his heal a series of physical and mental injuries inflicted upon him by police).
Singh himself, meanwhile, used his charm to infiltrate the Kaurava Party and get close to Duryodhani. By the time of her 1980 return to power, Singh was a part of Duryodhani’s personal guard. By repeatedly halting (staged) assassination attempts, Singh has made himself seem a loyal supporter of Duryodhani. Singh continued to bide his time and build a covert power base of mutants and baseline humans alike within India while waiting for the opportune moment to claim full power. That moment would arrive in 1984, when World War III broke out after, in the wake of most American-based superheroes being abducted by the otherworldly beings known as the Beyonder or the Monitor, President Cyclops/Webster made a poorly-timed joke that convinced the Soviets to activate Project Koschei and invade large swathes of Europe and North America. While the rest of the world was distracted by trying to use Gojira to contain Cthulhu, the ongoing fighting in Germany, Hawaii and the Rockies and British Prime Minister Jim Jasper’s proclamation of a fascist ‘English Socialist’ regime in Britain after usurping Joan Carpenter, Singh had a perfect opening to organize the assassination of Duryodhani and her followers. Singh personally struck down the Prime Minister and allies embedded throughout India made quick work of fellow Kaurava Party members. Not only Kaurava Party leaders were targeted, Singh also eliminated a number of key opposition figures, high-ranking figures within the Indian military and even prominent businessmen and actors whom he deemed a threat to his rule. Singh’s proclamation of taking power in India occurred only after well over 1,000 men and women whom could have stood in his way were eliminated by his followers. The official story Singh provided was that Soviet operatives had sought to decapitate the Indian government as they had already done in neighboring China, which already was beginning to collapse into civil war. Singh’s assumption of the role of Prime Minister of India was thus framed as an effort to maintain stability.
Singh’s swift action and prepared excuses were crucial to giving his regime the legitimacy it needed early on. In the name of anti-communism, Singh was able to continue to purge potential threats to his rule. Singh did not, however, only have an iron fist to offer the people of India. He also pursued investment in infrastructure, education, healthcare and entertainment for the public, something that was both a logical outgrowth of his philosophy and a crucial act to wooing an uncertain public to his side. Singh spent the first three years of his reign largely focused on this consolidation of power, but after the 1986 general election allowed Singh loyalists to sweep Parliament, Singh felt comfortable enough to begin looking outward once more. His first priority was India’s large neighbor: China. Chinese-Indian relations had long been frosty, with a number of border skirmishes being fought with the country under their previous leader Chairman Peng Guoliang. But now Peng was dead, a victim of a Soviet first strike on Beijing, and a country with hundreds of millions was in the middle of a bloody struggle for power not seen since the 1930’s. Chinese refugees fled into Southeast Asia and India alike and Singh was easily able to make the case that intervention to restore order in China was a matter of India’s national interest. Both the Soviets and the United States also viewed restoring stability in China as important, but even after World War III formally ended in 1985, neither side was willing to trust the other in the country. India, in a sense, would be a nice, neutral compromise in the minds of American and Soviet leaders who agreed to Singh’s plan. Singh selected the warlord Wu Qinghua as the ideal candidate to manage China, ostensibly due to her ties to the old government coupled with a reformist bent. However, in reality, there was another reason for choosing her. Wu Qinghua was closely aligned with the Chinese criminal masterminds Fu Manchu, Shen Yu, and Zhang Tong–all three of whom were closely tied to the supernatural elements of Chinese history. The three figures were de facto immortal and possessed a number of heightened physical and mental abilities. Singh viewed them as natural allies to his own belief system and, as it turned out, they agreed.
By 1989, Indian support and the supernatural arsenal of the 3 ‘hidden hands’ behind Chairwoman Wu enabled China to once again be under one government (outside of Taiwan and Zheng Fa, which stubbornly clung to independence). With an ally/de facto puppet state secured in the North, Singh next sought to recruit additional allies across the globe. His vision had cleared considerably thanks to learning more of the supernatural world from Zhang–the Augment world would not only be run by mutants and superhumans, but by wizards, witches, cyborgs, vampires and any others whom had, by birth or by growth, transcended the domain of ‘normal’ humans. Singh invested a lot of time drawing former subjects to psychic research programs like the Athena Plan, Project Firestarter and the Zener Project to India, offering not only protection but a chance for vengeance. Singh also engaged in overtures to supernatural beings he considered potential allies, to mixed success. Lucius Malfoy and other remnant Death Eaters in Britain cordially received his overtures, but did not sincerely plan to taking much action to align with him. Queen Beryl’s Dark Kingdom comparatively was more open to such an arrangement, though Beryl herself harbored ambitions to rule the world on her own and viewed Singh as disposable. On the other hand, the ancient vampire known as Sariel who held those he fed upon in an unusually strong thrall, rejected the prospect of any alliance outright, vowing to conquer the world on his own. Singh quickly realized he could not solely rely on unusual humans as allies and by the time he officially proclaimed the Great Khanate of India he was ready to form alliances of convenience with mundane humans.
One of Singh’s first mundane allies was Kazakh dictator Ivan Radek, who infamously helped orchestrate the hijacking of Air Force One in 1991 while President James Marshall was aboard it. The extent to which Singh was in favor of such an action remains uncertain, but it is known Singh publicly condemned the hijacking and cut off Radek with little fanfare. He had his other allies Zateb Kazim and Heinrich Krull act with more discretion moving forward. The formal beginning of the conflicts dubbed the Eugenics Wars would only begin in 1992 following the assumption of power by ultranationalists in Japan. Japan’s existing pro-American government had been badly weakened by the destruction of Tokyo by the entity known as Akira in 1989 and order was restored largely at gunpoint by ultranationalist General Ryoichi Yoshi, who was deeply nostalgic for Japan’s imperial past. Singh viewed Yoshi as a potential ally and privately urged him to form a military regime, but Yoshi instead stood aside in favor of Mogataru Koga. However, an economic crisis allowed the collapse of his government and the ascension of Hiroshi Goto as Prime Minister, who began implementing Yoshi’s far-right policies including responding to rising violence in schools (demonstrated primarily by 1989’s Akademi High School murders) by forcing teenagers into deathmatches. For the Goto government, the United States was a particular enemy and, with Singh’s support, Japan launched an open war on the United States in 1992. The war was brief, owing to Japan’s comparatively weak military footing. Most of the potential aces in the hole–the use of mechas, weaponization of Monsterland kaiju or large-scale intervention by Japanese superheroes–were stymied by antiwar sentiment on the part of those whom could have introduced them. In the end, Japan was defeated and the Singh-aligned government collapsed (though not before killing US President Florentyna Kane in an attack on the US Capitol).
Singh was undeterred by the failure of his Japanese allies. Indeed, he ramped up the Great Khanate’s support to sympathetic factions across the globe. When South Africa collapsed into civil war amidst a coup by hardliner Karl Voster, Singh made sure to provide Vorster with large amounts of weapons and even some metahuman support. Singh also provided manpower and weapons to M. Bison’s regime in Panau as it began invading neighboring island nations such as Banoi, Lilliput and Patusan. Genosha proved to be a natural ally of Singh’s government, acting as a hub from which Indian-made weapons and volunteers provided by Singh could flow to various allies of convenience. The terrorist organization Cobra also partnered with Singh out of convenience, ramping up the threat posed by the group considerably since the denting given to it by 1980’s counterterrorism efforts. Cobra was Singh’s preferred proxy for installing Khanate-friendly governments in Southeast Asia, which succeeded in Sarkhan and Laos even as it drew Vietnam, Vietmahl, Cambodia and Thailand to unite against them. Even ostensible opponents of metahumans were willing to form alliances of convenience with Singh’s government. When Ayatollah Daryaei’s Iran annexed Iraq, proclaimed the formation of the United Islamic Republic and invaded Kuwait, Qumar and Asran simultaneously, India and their puppet government in China were the nations who blocked a resolution condemning their actions at the United Nations and funneled heavy amounts of aid to the country. The period from 1992 to 1994 was characterized by these small-scale proxy conflicts.
It was 1995 that would see the conflict really ramp up in intensity thanks to the crashing of a meteor near the Tiber River carrying the element Tiberium. Singh, wishing to seize the material for his own use, convinced his ally Hank Scorpio to mount a coup in the United States. Scorpio was able to temporarily seize the Eastern Seaboard and forced President Jack Stanton to resign in favor of his Vice President Bud Hammond. In Russia, a coup was likewise attempted by Ivan Tretiak, a Russian hardliner seeking to restore the USSR by ousting Russian President Sergei Karpov. While these coups were ultimately repelled, they delayed the securing of Tiberium. Singh would form a common cause with the Brotherhood of Nod, whom under the command of their enigmatic leader Kane wanted to seize Tiberium as well. Singh’s support for Scorpio, Tretiak and Nod would at last force the world’s hands, with Russia and the US agreeing to implement crippling sanctions on India and China. China’s government yielded first, with Wu Qinghua being forced to stand down in favor of Lian Ma. Meanwhile, Singh’s hold in India, for the first time in a dozen years, faced dissent. Strikes and protests that could have been crushed with little backlash in previous years now escalated to riots, the people of India no longer believing in Singh’s promises of a brighter future for India. Singh still resisted launching outright war until 1996, when the Global Defense Initiative announced an intervention into India to remove a Brotherhood of Nod cell within the country. Singh ordered the Indian Armed Forces to resist the intervention, which they did for a time but the outcome was never in doubt. Singh vanished from New Delhi alongside his closest allies and followers on June 4th. Lakshmi Rupavathy, the leader of Singh’s previously-impotent opposition, would become Prime Minister of what was now once again the Republic of India.
The fact Singh disappeared has led to no shortage of theories about what became of him. Some believe Singh, much like the earlier would-be conqueror Adenoid Hynkel, committed suicide after realizing his failure to fulfill his ambitions. However, the additional disappearance of so many of his core allies–many of whom were also well-known figures–has meant many are dissatisfied with that explanation (though something like the Jamestown mass suicide is theoretically possible, it would be difficult to destroy all the bodies involved). Some claim Singh and the Brotherhood of Nod’s leader Kane had in fact been the same person and Singh had simply gone to join the Brotherhood in full as his rule in India collapsed. Due to the lack of resemblance between Kane and Singh, this theory is largely the provenance of cranks. Some claim that Singh escaped back in time or to a parallel reality–with declassified documents indicating Singh had made contact with a parallel world dominated by a nation calling itself the Domination of Draka serving as fuel for this belief. This is a theory that, while possible, has little other evidence going for it. One of the most popular theories is that Singh and his followers escaped to outer space, either to find another planet to settle upon or simply to wait to return to Earth. Many who believe this theory claim that Singh and his followers may have been responsible for directing the Harvester fleet towards Earth or launching the Wolf-Biederman asteroid (sometimes also known as ‘Dottie’) at the planet, citing that the meteor appeared to change trajectories before heading towards the planet, unlike the previous near-miss of the Hamner-Brown comet. Despite doubts about the veracity of that claim, declassified documents from Singh’s rule do indicate a robust investment in space travel technology. Of all theories, this may prove to be the most credible, but remains unconfirmed to this day. Despite the frequent brutality of Singh’s rule, a number of people in India actually hold Khan Noonien Singh in high regard, owing to his investments in public services and his efforts to increase India’s international standing. A cult venerating Singh as a living god has a shockingly high following in India, with it being estimated the vanished dictator is worshiped by just under 1 million people.

‘VIOLET - AMBIGUITY
Violet is red that has almost been transformed into blue. It holds a little onto both, it remembers both, which makes it mysterious, ambiguous and suggestive. Early Renaissance artists liked to depict angels, busy on errands of mercy between heaven and earth, as wearing violet gowns. The colour evoked for them the idea of an infinite ‘beyond’ that was not threatening or dangerous, somewhere we could long for but which remained always just out of sight.’

VIDEOCLUB MISTERIO
Hidden throughout the Sintracorp building, there are ten VHS tapes created by Ms. Sosa and Mappy, the only two members of Videoclub Misterio (with the exception of Brian, who can join if the player decides to). Most of these tapes feature subtle hints about in-game events.
A lot of the tapes can be found in full on Marta Sosa’s YouTube channel, with the addition of a few lore-related videos that cannot be found in-game. In this post, I specifically want to mention the Videoclub Misterio tapes on her channel; the other videos have a separate post you can find here.
It is important to note that the videos that appear in Yuppie Psycho are altered versions of these short films on YouTube, therefore, some of the dialogue differs between the videos in-game and the videos on YouTube. Also, the videos on the YouTube channel work as stand-alone short films and were created before Yuppie Psycho was released, so there is no inherent connection between the plots of these films and the plot of Yuppie Psycho.
1. Chrysalys (Chrysalis (Crisálida) - 2005) 1:03 AM, OCT 19 199X
Chrysalys is a story about a young man who ran away from home discovering that his family uses missing person posters to try to locate him. The man has long since changed, though, and calls his mother to discourage her from continuing her search and tells her to take the posters down. From the video description: “His fears and worries lead him to withdraw into his mind and to kidnap himself in order to bring his mutation to a successful conclusion.”
In-game, the video has the cocoon creature say “cut... their... bandages...”, which is obviously a reference to Brian having to cut free his friends from their own cocoons in what I will call the Sintracorp route.
2. From the Drain (WATERWORLD 2) 4:51 AM, AUG 8 199X
The next video is only a little over a minute, and it depicts a man brushing his teeth while his toilet gives him ideas for his next short. That is the entire video.
In-game, the toilet says “under the pipelines, as in her swimming pool... the conquering worm grew, and grew...” There are two possible explanations for this line: it could be in reference to the snake, as Sintra/Rei remarks on how big it has gotten and is often depicted swimming, or it could be referencing cocooned Kate’s location in the underwater section.
3. Follow a Cat Through the Woods (CREMATORIUM (Crematorio) - 2012)  4:20 AM, MAR 15 199X
CREMATORIUM follows the story of a young man named Daniel, who visits the grave of his parents only to discover a note addressed to him. Curious, he reads it, and it instructs him to follow a white cat through the woods. He does so, and ends up meeting a ghostly woman with a talisman on her face, who proceeds to replace one of his eyes with a red gem.
In-game, this video has no dialogue, but shows a clip of the ghostly woman. This may be foreshadowing what I will call the Sintra Residence route, as Kate dons a talisman when possessed by Xiu Ying. Additionally, Daniel’s eye being replaced by a red gem directly references the owl who also has one of it's eyes replaced by a red gem.
4. Blood Trail (CARABAS (2011))  10:34 AM, AUG 25 199X
This video begins with our unnamed protagonist losing his cellphone and complaining to his girlfriend, Isabela, that he is unable to find it. At her suggestion, he calls it using their landline, and a strange voice answers. Isabela hands him his cellular, which is shown to have fallen in-between the couch cushions, oblivious to what had just occurred. A bit later, Isabela goes missing, and the protagonist visits her apartment to investigate just to find nothing. He then goes on to visit a medium who confirms Isabela is dead, and instructs the protagonist to call her as soon as he leaves his house the following day. Once he does, the medium tells him that in order to find Isabela’s body, he must re-enter his house, which has now changed. He follows a trail of blood to Isabel’s wrapped up body and begins to unravel her just to be chased away by someone in a tiger mask. The medium reveals to him that this masked figure is apart of him, and the protagonist discovers that this is a result of the hypnosis he undertook to quit smoking.
Though interesting, the connections between this short film and the plot of Yuppie Psycho are practically nonexistent. A character in this film wears a devil’s mask, and one of the lines said by the protagonist- “now I feel her presence more strongly”- is quoted in another Videoclub Misterio tape, Apparition, but that is about as far as it goes.
5. The Weary Human Face 18:54 AM, OCT 16 199X
I cannot find the source of this video on the Marta Sosa YouTube channel, and I cannot personally find any connections to Yuppie Psycho’s plot in the footage shown in-game, so I will leave this as is.
6. Apparition 22:22 AM, JUL 16 199X
I believe this tape takes several shots from the other videos on the YouTube channel, so I cannot pin down a single one. Still, I believe this tape is about Atia Moeta, due to the title and the religious imagery. Also, the statue shown in this video appears to be Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is the inspiration for Atia Moeta’s design.
7. Fired (YOU HAVE CHOSEN DOOR NUMBER 2 (Ha elegido la puerta nmero 2) - 2008) 08:01 AM, MAY 1 199X
This video is the shortest on the channel, so there is not much to be said about it’s plot. It shows a man holding a gun to the head of a woman dancing in a cat mask. Once he lowers his gun, the woman does one more dance before holding her own gun to his head. It could be said that the short’s theme of choosing incorrectly somehow relates to Yuppie Psycho, but that seems like a stretch.
8. Office Party (VAMPIRE PRISON (Santiago de Sangre) - 2007) 23:06 AM, APR 31 199X
The city of Santiago de Compostela serves as a prison for vampires. Gabriel, the main male seen in this film, is a vampire forced to live in Santiago de Compostela, and he has seduced a woman named Eva. He invites her to a costume party with the promise she will finally get to see the paintings he has talked to her about with the intention of turning her into a vampire. Once he tries to get her to drink his blood, she wounds him, and steals a stone responsible for protecting him against the holy rains of Santiago. As he chases her outside to ask her why she has done this, Eva reveals that she is a knight tasked with carrying out the laws of the city.
This short film is very interesting, but once again has no real connection to Yuppie Psycho.
9. Mr. Fileto (PARABARA - 2011) 00:00 AM, OCT 31 201X
PARABARA is introduced as an animated educational series that follows the adventures of a robot (Robo-chan), a blue dog (Perrichopin), a tangerine (Pipo), and a duck with a horse’s head (Mr. Fileto). In this episode, you learn the backstories of Perrichopin and Mr. Fileto as the four go on a quest for gold.
...This is not exactly relevant to Yuppie Psycho. In the description of the video titled MR. FILETO 10 HOURS, Sosa (I assume) writes that her cats are fans of the series. This might explain why this Videoclub Misterio tape exists in the first place.
10. Mom & Dad (FISHEADED (Cabeza de pescado) - 2008)  18:54 AM, MAY 02 197X
A child seemingly dissatisfied with this mother forcing him to eat fish conjures up a robotic figure which also tells him to eat his fish. Once the boy’s mother returns to the room, the boy now has a fish for a head. I am sure there is more symbolic meaning considering the description provided, but that is the video at face value.
The Videoclub Misterio tape specifically focuses on the scenes with the mother and father behind the closed door, so it is fair to assume this tape is meant to reference João Sintra and Xiu Ying.
hi! i apologize for the wait. it took me a while to get through all of these videos and compare them to the in-game tapes... but i am glad to have done so. ^^ i highly recommend visiting the youtube channel and watching these short films for yourself- they are very interesting and worth the watch, i think! this was a request from a while ago. i hope the requester gets to finally see this...

Hey! I also happen to be making a WoF reworldbuilding project and finding yours was a delight!
I'd like to ask about what you think about the languages of WoF. Most people already tilt their head at Pantala adopting Clearsight's language instead of the other way around (and while I think her language might become a prestige dialect in Pantala, it wouldn't be intelligible to the modern Nightwing), but there are other language issues I've discerned as I learned about worldbuilding.
- How are these dragons who've had ages of being isolated from one another speaking only dialectal differences? It was five thousand years since Proto-Indo-European existed and it's spawned hundreds of linguistic descendants - why do the dragons seem to be stuck speaking the same language?
- How is Darkstalker able to perfectly communicate with modern dragons? Sure, he has telepathy so he could've learned it during his six months stuck in a hole, but still. Two thousand years ago, Old English didn't exist yet, and we need *translators* to understand an older form of our own language.
- Where are the lingua francas of the world? Prestige languages, creoles, pidgins? The Chrysalis could keep secrecy by speaking in an older form of their own tongue like the Windtalkers or something. The Talons of Peace could have an in-universe constructed language that members learn to communicate with one another, and that the prophecy kids grow up with, with only cursory knowledge of their "home" languages.
And that's not even going into written languages. Long story short: Darkstalker's scroll, the Book of Clearsight, and the Forbidden Treasury should need scholars to translate their contents since they're millennia old.
Hope these linguistic barriers help out with your plotting! I wish you well on your worldbuilding endeavors!
I LOVE THIS! Thank you so much!
I absolutely agree with everything you brought up. Languages are constantly changing and evolving; even now words still die out and new ones come in. Thousands of languages have come and gone, yet this entire continent of dragons only had like, two (three if you include Aquatic).
Clearsight somehow changing an entire continent's language is a whole thing, but there isn't even a guarantee that the language would have stayed the same. It is in a completely different environment with different dragons speaking it, and it had like a thousand years to change. There would have been multiple variations and dialects. Modern day Pyrrhians would not be able to understand it, at the very least not that well. And like you said, it was the old language, a modern NightWing would not be able to understand it even if it stayed the same.
It makes no sense that none of these tribes have their own language. They don't even really have distinct dialects, the main difference is what animals they use in their insults. And only two tribes have been confirmed to have accents (RainWings and IceWings). Why haven't any of them developed their own language? Some of them have lived in almost completely isolated environments for over a thousand years, particularly the IceWings, RainWings, NightWings, and maybe even the SeaWings, and yet nothing! There's Aquatic, but it's pretty much bound to being used underwater. Maybe there could have been a written form of it as well.
You have an excellent point about the complete absence of lingua francas, creoles, and pretty much any other type of language. Why are SeaWings the only ones with a secret language? The Talons of Peace and the Chrysalis both have very good reasons to develop one of their own. It doesn't even have to be super complicated, just enough so that they can communicate without dragons overhearing their plans.
And what about intertribal towns? What about during wars when tribes form alliances? It might not spawn entirely new languages, but it could alter them or lead to different phrases and words being incorporated (like how someone might say "bon appétit" but they don't actually speak French).
The written languages are definitely just chaos. It would've been cool if the Librarian was in charge of translating the Book of Clearsight and learning the language it's written in.

Saij’s YGO Fanfic Recommendations:
Oneshots:
Tales from Domino Bay - by NaughtyOrgel
Atem is a flirty Merman, and Yugi is his unsuspecting prey. Until the feels start happening of course. Love this fic. I can’t recommend it enough. Puzzleshipping.
Soft Power - by Actualskeleton
A super cute Boundshipping fic. Characters are written so great. It’s so good it will rot your teeth out from the sweetness. Nothing more to say.
Crescendo - by Kudalyn
Yugi is a Dj and Atem happens to catch one of his sets and just falls, hard. This one is short, but hot, and an absolute treat to read. The writer is super good. And the steamy stuff is excellently written. Puzzleshipping.
His Touch - by Renk3r
Yugi is a little oblivious, and Yami is incredibly jealous and possessive about who should be allowed to touch Yugi. Spoilers, it’s him. A spicy, and wonderfully written oneshot that is sure to satisfy cravings for the jealousy/possessive trope. Puzzleshipping.
Hide and Seek - by Natoya
A fun and steamy Mobiumshipping oneshot. Yugi decides to play hide and seek with Yami and Atem inside the puzzle. But they wager stakes on the game that get downright naughty.
Wizard’s Shop - by CannibalPieChan
Yugi wanders into a wizard’s shop and accidentally breaks a magical golden puzzle. Puzzleshipping goodness. Sweet, cute, and fun.
Multichapter:
Keep the Light Shining - by Clydeside
The best kind of Puzzleshipping. The spooky kind. Yugi gets a job as a lighthouse keeper, and meets a mysterious specter haunting the island. Is the ghost malicious? Dangerous? Or just a drop-dead gorgeous sweetheart? (No pun intended. I lie. Totally intended). The writing style is spectacular. The atmosphere is intense, and the mystery and suspense of the whole story will keep you on your toes.
Bridging the Gap Between Us - by Sitabethel
Bakura gets injured while protecting Ryou and Yugi, and the boys make it their mission to take care of him while he’s on the mend. Except Bakura starts getting the feels for Yugi. A steamy, sweet, and cute Kleptoshipping fanfic. An absolute delight to read.
Strip Me With Your Eyes - by Saoirse_Ilysi
Ryuji bullies Atem into filling in for one of his dancer’s at his strip club. Atem begrudgingly dances, but ends up to catching the eye of one of the club patrons, Yugi. Oh noes, Atem is catching feels. Yugi caught feels. Feels are happening. Feels all around. Also Marik is a delight. Love this AU. Love the story. Puzzleshipping.
Reflections in the Water - by Pyromanicofthesea
Ryou bought a house. That tells you everything you need to know about this story, because if Ryou bought a house you can bet your ass it’s haunted. But WAIT! It’s not just haunted by one ghost. Delightful wonderful cute spooky shenanigans. Not sure where all the ships are going in this fic, but I like the Ryou x YMarik chemistry. And I also like the Ryou x Yugi chemistry. So I can’t wait to see how this one unfolds.
Underwater Chrysalis - by Prettiugli
Seto catches a merman during a deep sea mining excursion, and decides to study him. Because that’s just such a Seto thing to do. Meanwhile the merman, Atem, decides to have some fun. This is a long fic, it gets all kinds of kinky, and is a helluva trip to read. Loved it, from start to finish. Seto is written perfectly. Probably the best written Seto I’ve ever seen. The fic is very Kaiba-centric, so I highly recommend if you LOVE Seto Kaiba. Prideshipping out the wazoo.
The Missing Puzzle Piece to Your Heart - by ThePancake
A canon compliant Ancient Egypt AU. Yugi goes back in time to live with Atem in ancient Egypt after the events of the show. (Don’t think too hard about how this works without disrupting history and time. Just enjoy it.) This story is sweet, and steamy, and spicy, and dramatic. The author is super talented, and writes all the characters so well. And the story was so much fun to read. Reading this fic had my heart doing acrobatics when the angst and drama went full tilt. All the feels in the best ways. So much Puzzleshipping.
Haunted House sweet Home - by InkFlavored
Because I can never get enough of the haunted house trope. I highly recommend reading this fic if you need more Puzzleshipping ghost fix. Yugi moves into a new place only to discover a golden Egyptian diadem left abandoned inside the apartment. Atem is a spirit tethered to said diadem. Cue the cutest friendship turn slow burn romance ever. It’s an absolute thrill of a read. Sweet, fluffy, but also full of suspense and spooks.
Fuzzy Handcuffs - by Sitabethel
Probably one of my all time favorite Deathshipping fics. With the help of Marik and Yugi, Ryou brings back all the Yamis using dark magic. Yugi gets reunited with Atem, and Marik with Bakura. But YMarik got brought back with no one to love him... unless. The fic is hilarious, spicy, and a treat to read.
Creepy Hide & Seek - by Sitabethel
Bet you can’t tell who’s my favorite author yet. This fic is mostly Deathshipping with a sumptuous side of Thiefshipping. Two of my favorite ships. Ryou figures out how to bring back YBakura and eventually YMarik by playing a dangerous rendition of Hide and Seek. The consequences of playing the game wrong turn out to be much more grave than he ever imagined though.
Red string - by Renk3r
Mobiumshipping perfection. Yami recovers his memories, but not in the way he expected. The memories come in the form of his former self, Atem. And now his soul is split in two. Yami and Atem inhabit the puzzle together, both vying for Yugi’s attention and affection, and neither wants to share. This is hands down my second favorite fanfic. And my favorite Mobium fic. A MUST read.
Playing Card Games is Just like Making Love - by ChaosRocket
Marik recovers the millennium ring, and manages to bring Bakura back. The two strike up a bargain to get what they both want, but their partnership blooms into a tentative friendship, that starts encroaching on deeper feelings. Especially when they start betting sexual favors on card games. An excellent Thiefshipping romp. So many feels, so well written. It’s ruined me for any other Thiefshipping fic. This one set the bar so high.
Silent Mind - by LadyGodess
The Deathshipping fic, that probably got me into Deathshipping in the first place. The OG Death fic. YMarik finds a broken Ryou, and takes him home. The two become friends as YMarik helps patch him up, and Ryou starts to see a different side to the infamous Yami.
Only Mine - by Natoya
Atem, Pharaoh of Egypt, gets a curse cast upon him by a scorned Princess. The curse forces him to become an immortal pleasure slave tethered to a golden box. The stipulations of the curse? To remain a pleasure slave until he finds true love. Fast forward several thousand years to the present, and Yugi happens upon an ancient golden box that just might contain the man of his dreams. This fic is an oldie but goody. A fun romantic romp, with great humor, spicy romance, and indulgent tropes/cliches of the best kind. A very fun read. Puzzleshipping.
Royal Tricks - by L.C.Burrows
Yugi is a prince betrothed to a Princess from a neighboring Kingdom. Atem is King Solomon’s best Knight. When Atem is assigned to train/tutor Prince Yugi in combat, the two begin discovering feelings for the other. Forbidden feelings. Prince/Knight romance. Just one of my all time favs. Gave me all the feels, and took me on the best ride. Puzzleshipping all the way.
Lessons in Fear - by Milessqueak
Yugi takes a temporary gig, working at a summer camp in the spring to get it cleaned and set up for use in the summer. He meets a stranger named Atem, who is oddly enough, also there to clean up the camp. Amidst paranormal and suspicious happenings the two manage to become friends and uncover the sordid history of the camp, including the string of murders that took place over the last decade. But who is responsible, and is Yugi in danger now? This fic is fantastic, has incredible atmosphere and setting descriptions. The tension and spookiness are off the charts. I wouldn’t describe it as outright horror, but it’s definitely in the Chiller category. And great Puzzleshipping romance to boot.
Fear is Only Skin Deep - Tsurenaii
Yugi loses a bet and ends up in a Tattoo shop to get his ears pierced. But oh no, the guy running the shop is hot and Yugi’s at his mercy. Excellent characterization in this fic, brilliant writing, even lovelier dialogue. This fic is amazing, and you should check it out. I couldn’t recommend this one enough. Some top notch Puzzleshipping.
So… - QueenBastest
A feel good slice of life story. Yugi and Atem explore their new relationship both emotionally and physically. It’s a delightful romp, fluffy, and sweet, and spicy. Lots of sexy moments. The exact type of story I like to comfort read. Starts off fluffy and sweet and gets a little turbulent with drama when Yugi starts working on a secret project with his friends, a surprise for Atem. Love this story. Major Puzzleshipping.
Only Ghosts - Thepigeonqueen
A beautiful story about Shadi taking a trip inside Pegasus’s soul room. The two end up stranded in there when Funny Bunny steals Shadi’s key, and along the way make discoveries about themselves and each other. It’s delightful seeing Pegasus both grow and having grown as a character. And PigeonQueen writes the best damn version of Shadi I’ve ever seen. Like their interpretation of him 100% changed my feelings toward the character. It’s a fun and amazing story, and you should check it out. Definitely the first and most favorite Twistedshipping fic I’ve ever read.
Series:
Boundingshipping AU - by Sadistikitteh
Bakura has a huge fight with Malik, and ends up staying with Yugi because he has nowhere else to go. Yugi, the sweet little bean that he is, gives Bakura a place to crash and starts to learn more about Bakura as things get sweet and cute. Then FEELS start happening. It’s so good. And I love this series to death. Boundshipping.
Egyptology Exercises - by Nedjemet
A spectacular retelling of Yu-Gi-Oh! DM, but with 90% less card games and 90% more Egyptology and accuracy. Also it’s Puzzleshipping, and gives you all the wholesome and romantic interactions between the puzzle boys you were longing for in the original YGO. I’m loving this fic, and it really breaths new life and perspective into the series.
~
I’ll update this list as I find/rediscover more fics to add.

How do you write long multi-chapter fics without losing steam or motivation?
Hey guys!
Been a while since I made a post answering all the FAQ’s in my inbox, and this is the one I get the most, so here goes my answer/advice:
▽ structure and continuity
(and i still struggle with this lmao its an uphill climb)
1) outline or map out your story path. if it drags and you find yourself getting BORED with your writing or where the story is going, its time to stop, step back, and evaluate.
completely write out the storyline in short-hand nonsense as fast as possible, because its for you only, so go back to fill in the details later. if you want to see what MY outlines look like...... -embarassmentttttt-
Here’s a screencap from underwater chrysalis.
Tumblr media
if you’ve read that story, you can probably recognize this scene was an entire chapter, but it was 5 nonsense sentences in my outline.
2) if you can sit down for X hours and write out the outline from start to end (yes, end of the story) then you have a solid skeleton to polish up :D
3) don’t worry about chapter splitting just yet. get it all out first
▽ Marathon time
1) set aside time for yourself to write it out. Find time for it at least once a week or once a day if you can manage that! DON’T leave it sitting for 2+ weeks--unless that’s your creative process--and if it is, and you recognize you get stuck here, leaving the fic alone for more than 2 weeks = abandoning the fic?? then proceed to this step→
go back to it and read it over and over, right up until the point where you stopped, ask yourself questions about where the characters are going (refer to your outline)/ why the characters are doing X scene ...etc (is there tension? is this part boring? why have you stopped writing? tired? take a nap:)
2) know when to ignore (writing) advice. and i wish someone had told me this when i first started marathon fic-writing. advice is great but its not a cure-all and maybe you’re exhausted from trying everyone’s suggestions. literally you do you, but keep an open mind to learn along the way.
3) if you run into a problem, like wanting to change an ENTIRE scene that will  affect the ending of your story, stop writing and go back to your outline. you’re wasting your own time this way. write to get to an ending.
4) know that there are formulas to long, captivating stories. its like a curve that goes up and down. (find a formula that works for you!) for me, it’s: scene start tension scene escalating tension resolve tension but then another conflict + 2 conflict + 1 romance = long 3 chapter scene :D scene resolving 1 conflict, romance + 3 yay! scene adding to conflicts and romance above tension resolution? another tension or romance resolve? which slowly helps taper to an end (which i still struggle with)
5) have fun! you’re exploring this character, this universe, don’t get too stuck up your own ass about stuff and let things go. if you finished a scene and re-read it, hate it, don’t give yourself crap about it. if you’re happy with it one day and unhappy with it another day, figure out why or just let it go. Your goal is to write as much as possible to finish your story to the outline you wrote. if you get hung up on the stuff in the middle, you’ll never reach the finish line.
▽ I’ve finished my multi-chapter my pile of crap. Now what?
1) don’t look at it, don’t even think about it. congratulate yourself and go to the beach :D get yourself a coffee and socially-distance-hang-out with your friends
2) 1 - 3 weeks later, re-read it ALL with fresh eyes. don’t tell your friends about it, don’t link it anywhere for feedback. it’s still ALL YOU right now.
3) re-read it round 1: edit it grammatically and for bulk. if you still hate that random interaction you added in, delete it entirely and set it aside. fix all grammar issues and add to more descriptions if some are lacking.
4) re-read it round 2: a week later with your own fresh eyes, make sure everything flows. did you say character X had a green shirt in ch 3 but in ch 4 they were wearing a blue shirt? fix that :O might be a genuine mistake, either you forgot or got up to leave your fic for 4 days and (forgot)
5) re-read again round 3: a week after that, read it again and find it for more errors, add more flow if some scenes have a choppy transition, and start to split it into chapters. Find natural breaks in your writing (or cliff hangers!) and cut them there. 6) recruit a friend! Ask someone you’re ok with baring your soul to and make them read your slightly less steaming pile of crap, which is now a polished turd. hopefully your friend will tell you it IS a polished turd and is OK for posting, or that you still mentioned green shirt character is wearing a blue shirt (again) in ch 56 and you missed it :P
7) post and run, or save it to re-read again 6 months later
i’ve been doing the post and run thing for a while if im medium-proud of my shiny turd, or if im really insecure about it, i’ll sit on it for even a YEAR before i even breathe about it. its not that i hate it, its that i feel it could be better and if i’m continuously writing during that time, I can go back to look at it with fresh(er) eyes.
▽ things to think about / stuff to ask yourself while writing:
- why am i tired (of this, of it?) know yourself and know your limits. if you’re tired (physically, of writing) learn to differentiate that from being mentally tired.
- who are you writing for? a friend’s bday gift fic? submission into Fanfic Award-Winning Novel Writers Club? A novel manuscript to Random House? Nanowrimo? your fandom rare-pair discord server? ....yourself?? and then figure out your motivations for the tone of your writing :D
- i suck at writing X (a violent action scene, smut, small-talk in elevator scene), so i’ll just skip it... no. if you think your story needs it, make your best attempt at writing it and then go back to edit it. you’ll be happy you pushed yourself to write it.
- i’ve never done X (been to a hotspring in Japan, gone hiking in extreme weather, gone on a blind date) how would i know what it feels like? Try your best to envision it or use the wonders of the internet to learn about it. Research is your best friend to express realism in your writing :D
aaaaaaaaaaaand that’s all i got for now :O
*btw you know what works for you as a creative mind, this is all stuff that works for me and I hope you found it helpful!
thank you for reading this super long post, and feel free to PM me if you need a “get me unstuck” buddy in your writing process :D

Just hanging out in my healing sanctuary clamshell...  Diving deep into recalibrating my body, like a butterfly in a chrysalis. Sometimes transformation requires turning into a mushy puddle of emotional soup and releasing the ways we have been attached to showing up in the world previously. I'm looking forward to emerging with an even brighter creative spark to share with the world. .
